WORCESTER — Police and firefighters teamed to rescue a woman from a burning house on Ancona Road Monday afternoon
spotted the woman trapped on the first floor of the smoke-filled house and firefighters Ben LeBlanc and Dana Ford moved to carry her from the building
“There was a police officer at the entrance door and alerted our crews where the victim was located,” Fire Chief Martin Dyer said
“Our crews made entry and was able to pull the victim to the safety.”
The fire at a two-story house at 6 Ancona Road
Dyer said soon after the fire that the woman who was rescued was in serious condition
The fire was on both floors of the residence
according to Deputy Fire Chief Jason Ehrets said
“We had heavy fire conditions upon arrival," Ehrets said
In discussing the rescue, Dyer referenced a Sept. 26 awards ceremony
“Like we spoke about two weeks ago when we had our awards
preparation and practice matters," he said
"And this is a real shoutout to our company's officers who have clearly made sure that their crews are prepared and they’re constantly practicing
"And that’s what allows us to have these great outcomes within minutes on arrival
where we have a rescue and we have fire knocked down.”
The substance had been hidden by a citizen with a community passport on board his truck
The military of the Provincial Command of Ancona
together with the officials of the Customs Office of Ancona
seized over 163 kilos of drugs in the operation
aimed at preventing and combating illicit trafficking of narcotics in the Port of Ancona
The narcotic substance had been hidden by a citizen with a community passport on board his truck
the Guardia di Finanza and ADM officials noticed inconsistencies in the transport documents and decided to carry out a more thorough inspection of the articulated lorry; this led to the discovery of numerous boxes
numerous black cellophane bags were found containing over 161 kilos of marijuana with a high concentration of THC and more than 2 kilos of chemically treated methamphetamine
would have generated earnings of several million euros
The operation led to the arrest in flagrante delicto of a thirty-five-year-old EU citizen

Receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award was a humbling experience for Ancona
reflecting on her long career and the honor of being recognized for her dedication and contributions
I have focused on transforming organizations for the future
and transforming manual pre-trade processes into digital and automated ones,” Ancona said
and a constant desire to learn and understand how things work.” Her ability to execute and effect change has been a significant driver of her achievements
Mentorship has also played a crucial role in her career. “In my early career
a female leader saw potential in me and gave me opportunities that I may never had received without support,” Ancona said.
she was offered the opportunity to move and be part of a new division but stayed in New York due to personal challenges
when BlackRock acquired Merrill Lynch’s asset management division
“moving from a large firm to a smaller one gave her more autonomy and accountability while allowing the opportunity to help shape and contribute to firm’s growth and expansion.”
Ancona values her friends and family and enjoys traveling and sharing those experiences: “I’ve been fortunate to share great travel experiences with loved ones
She is motivated by the desire to see things improve and by the people she works with
Collaboration and working towards common goals keeps her energized
Her colleagues would likely describe her as knowledgeable
energetic, and always willing to help and provide advice
Ancona hopes to be remembered for helping others and driving change. ”Seeing people I’ve mentored succeed and knowing that my contributions have had a lasting impact is important to me and one of the most rewarding,” she said.
Ancona started seeing changes in the industry around the mid-90s
with more women entering financial organizations and greater acceptance and diversity
She stressed that the most significant change she has seen in the industry over the years is the rapid advancement of technology
paper-based processes to more digital and automated ones
To stay passionate and dedicated in their work
Ancona advises people “to love what they do and enjoy the people they work with.”
Passion and motivation come from doing the right thing and working with people you admire
“Finding your passion is crucial; the world has changed
making opportunities more accessible than ever
It’s important to find what excites you and pursue it,” she concluded

This stunning exhibition is the first London show dedicated to Utagawa Hiroshige's prolific creativity in more than 25 years
Matthew d’Ancona
Devotees of Kazuo Ishiguro’s early masterpiece
will be familiar with the Japanese ukiyo-e figurative tradition: the depiction of the everyday life of merchants
One of its later and most revered masters – rivalled only
by Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) – was Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858)
whose work is celebrated in this stunning exhibition (the first London show dedicated to his prolific creativity in more than 25 years)
the son of a samurai in Edo (modern-day Tokyo)
in the era of the Tokugawa shogunate (1603–1867)
Hiroshige established himself with a series of remarkable prints of the Tokaido
the 310-mile-long eastern coastal highway that connected his birthplace with the imperial capital of Kyoto
His work is marked by a love of the natural world
But look closer and you see that his greatest affection was reserved for the day-to-day encounters
predicaments and pleasures of the people he witnessed
So here is Cherry Blossoms on a Moonless Night Along the Sumida River (1847-8)
that depicts three women strolling along the embankment under the silhouette of a flowering tree
In her other hand is a basket full of souvenirs bought by the other two
which portrays six poets gossiping and tucking into a bowl of snacks
as the rain pours down outside their lodgings
Their robes suggest that they are from merchant families
a scene from Kyoto’s red-light district as dawn rises
in which a drunken punter is steadied by servants as he heads home and young women look on with amusement
The juxtaposition of cosmic order and human foible is beautifully rendered
Small wonder that Hiroshige made such an impact upon western artists – especially Van Gogh
who collected his prints and meticulously traced The Plum Garden at Kameido (1857)
Julian Opie have all been influenced by him
The return of the mighty Tina Fey to a leading televisual role is cause enough for celebration
It is 12 years since 30 Rock ended and – aside from an hour-long special of that show in 2020 and occasional cameo roles
notably in the excellent Only Murders in the Building – she has been sadly absent from the small screen
Tracey Wigfield and Lang Fisher have updated Alan Alda’s classic 1981 movie about three couples who have known each other for decades and take holidays together (the title is
which act as soundtrack to movie and series alike)
Fey is Kate (played by Carol Burnet in the original)
now played by Will Forte); Len Cariou as Nick and Sandy Dennis as Anne are replaced
by Steve Carrell and Kerri Kenney-Silver; Danny (Jack Weston) and Claudia (Rita Moreno) become Danny (Colman Domingo) and Claude (Marco Calvani)
has a bit part at a crucial moment in the plot
Nick reveals that he is leaving his wife: “It’s Anne
She doesn’t do anything… We’re like co-workers at a nuclear facility”
This apparent act of recklessness triggers a chain reaction of doubt
as old assumptions are tested and familiar friendships subjected to fresh scrutiny
says to Jack: “How can you be even less chill in your fifties than you were in your twenties?” When Nick begins a relationship with a younger woman
Kate teases him to the point of reproachfulness: “It’s weird that your girlfriend wasn’t born when Reagan got shot”
struggles with the fluidity of the modern dating scene: “Why doesn’t anybody like labels anymore
I miss the 90s when it was just ‘girlfriend’ or ‘friend zone’”
This is old-fashioned comedy in the best sense
a precisely measured cocktail of innocence and cynicism
the blockbuster genre founded by the Big Three: When Harry Met Sally (1989)
Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and You’ve Got Mail (1998)
The Four Seasons explores the prairies of middle age
suddenly shaken by tremors of unwelcome change
and extracts much sharp wit and gentle pathos from its timeless themes
It is one of the most familiar conceits in movies: a group of misfits
outsiders or outright villains is convened to enact a plan that is at least notionally on the side of the angels
and The Expendables franchise (2010-23); and there’s an entire subgenre in the superhero world
from Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy (2014-23) to DC’s two Suicide Squad movies (2016 and 2021)
the reluctant heroes are Russian-born assassin Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh)
sister of the late Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson); her down-on-his-luck father Alexei (David Harbour)
formerly Red Guardian but now driving a limo; John Walker (Wyatt Russell)
the disgraced second Captain America; Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen); and
formerly the Winter Soldier and now a congressman
After the villainously camp CIA director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) sends Yelena
Walker and Ghost on apparently separate clean-the-scene missions – in practice
to kill one another – they team up with Alexei and Bucky to find out what she’s up to
Valentina’s secret scheme involves a medical test subject known only as Bob (Lewis Pullman)
disoriented and wearing hospital scrubs: all sure signs in superhero movies that he probably has world-destroying powers
The Avengers are no more (for now): so who will step up to the plate
The 36th Marvel Cinematic Universe movie is amusing popcorn fare that also makes a more serious effort to address mental health issues
“There’s something wrong with me,” says Yelena
as she prepares to parachute off a skyscraper (it is no coincidence that the force of evil in the movie is called the Void)
a traumatised figure with a wretched backstory
Thunderbolts* also establishes Pugh as a fully-fledged screen star who can carry a blockbuster release by herself
the irritating asterisk after the movie’s title is explained
I have written a longer piece for TNE on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel
the fantastic television series it inspired and their importance as a guide to contemporary authoritarianism
So this is just a reminder that the sixth and final season is back on Channel 4
which is also streaming the preceding five seasons
The first episode begins where season five ended: with former handmaid
meeting Serena Waterford (Yvonne Strahovski) on a train to Alaska
Serena claims to have turned against the patriarchal tyranny of Gilead and seeks to make an ally of the woman she once regarded as an enslaved member of her household
“The enemy of my enemy is my friend,” she suggests
“On a case-by-case basis,” is June’s reply
I won’t spoil what follows – except to say that I have seen eight of the final ten episodes
The republic of letters loves few things more than secondary issues: questions or dilemmas that lurk at the fringes of a text but often generate a vivid controversy
This is especially so when it comes to the posthumous publication of work by famous authors.Mostly
these fierce public arguments lead nowhere
precisely because they are generally unanswerable
be grateful that Max Brod ignored Franz Kafka’s express wish that his entire body of work be burned
Virgil wanted the Aeneid to be destroyed after his death – which
I am not sure how much the world gained by the publication of Vladimir Nabokov’s The Original of Laura (2009)
But I’m glad that David Foster Wallace’s incomplete final novel The Pale King (2011) made it into print and that the sons of Gabriel García Márquez committed what they themselves admitted was “an act of betrayal” in publishing his gem of a novella
Joan Didion did not explicitly authorise the release of these notes of her exchanges with the New York psychiatrist Roger MacKinnon between December 1999 and January 2002
addressed to her husband John Gregory Dunne
But the documents in question are also available in the New York Public Library as part of the couple’s archive
Much more interesting is the content itself: rigorous
unflinching accounts of MacKinnon’s undoubtedly impressive efforts to tease out of Didion what was wrong with her relationship with her adopted daughter
Under treatment by another psychiatrist for borderline personality disorder
Quintana posed a painful challenge to Didion
not only as a mother but also as a writer: she didn’t seem to be able to write her way out of the problem
“You can only love her,” MacKinnon told her
just as Quintana self-medicated to make herself feel (temporarily) better
so Didion scurried back to her desk in an effort to tame reality
As her psychiatrist said: “you control the situation through your work and your competency”
He also identified a deep co-dependency between mother and daughter
“You’re allowing her to hold you prisoner,” he said
“which in turn imprisons her.” He even suggested that Didion and Dunne’s very closeness as a couple might be playing a role in Quintana’s sense of isolation and exclusion
get stuck into Slouching Towards Bethlehem (1968) and The White Album (1979)
both classics of the so-called “New Journalism”
Notes to John essentially turns The Year of Magical Thinking (2005) and Blue Nights (2011)
her superb two-volume account of bereavement
into a trilogy; and thus indisputably enriches our understanding of one of the great essayists of the past century

The 67.6-metre CRN motor yacht Amor à Vida has been launched in Ancona, Italy. Hitting the water at the Ferretti Group superyacht yard
the full-custom superyacht - previously known as Project Maranello - was last spotted as a bare hull during transport to her outfitting in May 2023
Her delivery is scheduled for spring this year
Constructed in steel and aluminium with a displacement hull, Amor à Vida is the brainchild of CRN and Nuvolari Lenard - with the designer penning both her exterior styling and interior design
Elongated windows on each of her six decks add to her taut and powerful profile: a style choice from Lenard that is said by the yard to "fully embrace the owner’s specific requirements [whilst] embodying his vision and lifestyle." A gentle slope leading towards the beach club area also adds to the yacht's elegant profile
Accommodation on board the 1450GT yacht is for 12 guests and 17 crew
Moran Yacht & Ship has been acting as the owner's representative and project management team throughout the build process
the project reflects the shipyard's commitment to sustainability
which resonated strongly with the owner who wished to incorporate environmental safeguards into the design
The result is an "innovative" yacht with state-of-the-art hybrid propulsion for enhanced energy efficiency and improved fuel economy
A heat recovery system has also been fitted on board
Final outfitting work will continue on the yacht and sea trials will be completed in the coming months
Amor à Vida is the first of four full-custom CRN yachts currently in build or on order at the Ancona facility: including the 85-metre CRN 144, 70-metre Project Thunderball and 67.6-metre CRN 146.

The public will therefore be able to admire at the Capitoline Museums the Circumcision by Olivuccio Ciccarello
the main interpreter of the renewal of Ancona painting that flourished between the 14th and 15th centuries
from the church of San Francesco ad Alto; the Madonna and Child by Carlo Crivelli

Next on display will be the monumental Crucifixion made for the church of San Domenico by Titian

in which the delicate figure of the Virgin stands out against a seascape whose model may be the bay of Ancona
with this important display of altarpieces from the Doric city

The Roman exhibition is an important part of a national enhancement of Ancona’s collection that aims to give back to citizens and visitors a glimpse of a crucial period in the history of taste and collecting in the Marche city.”

It takes a special kind of audacity – or foolhardiness – to make a conventional biopic about Bob Dylan
There have been the documentaries of D A Pennebaker and Martin Scorsese; Dylan’s own genre-mixing Renaldo and Clara (1978); and Todd Haynes’s experimental I’m Not There (2007)
in which six actors (including Cate Blanchett

But James Mangold dares to take a more traditional approach and tell the tale of Dylan’s arrival in New York in January 1961

He was not alone when he got to New York but with his friend Fred Underhill
He is shown on stage with Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro
also superb) singing Girl From the North Country
a performance of which no recording exists
Mangold’s account of what Dylan calls “the fiasco at Newport” is disputed and undoubtedly incorporates material from a separate concert at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester the following year
But it is ridiculously puritanical to dismiss the movie on this basis
one of its central themes is the speed with which the emancipating power of an audience’s love for an artist can congeal into a heresy-hunting cult
As the late Irish singer Liam Clancy observes in Scorsese’s No Direction Home (2005): “It wasn’t necessary for him to be a definitive person”
And Chalamet brilliantly communicates Dylan’s bristling refusal to be categorised or confined – an innate restlessness that also helped to wreck his relationship with Suze Rotolo (who appears on the cover of The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan)
“You got kids?” a street vendor asks Dylan
“Thousands of them,” is the laconic reply from the singer as he lopes off
hunched as if already bearing a colossal weight
a new generation of moviegoers will get to see how the 83-year-old Nobel Prize winner – still touring after all this time – burst upon the scene and changed everything more than 60 years ago
Today’s self-styled “disruptors” are wall-eyed plutocrats like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg
Almost two and a half millennia since its composition
Sophocles’ tragic portrayal of Agamemnon’s daughter
With Oscar-winner Brie Larson in the lead and Stockard Channing as her mother Clytemnestra
Daniel Fish’s production has formidable star power
But the whole cast is excellent – especially Marième Diouf as Elektra’s sister
unbending in her determination to take revenge on her mother and her lover Aegisthus (Greg Hicks) for murdering her father
As the play’s translator Anne Carson has written
she is “a torrent of self” – unimpressed by her mother’s insistence that Agamemnon deserved to die
having sacrificed their daughter Iphigenia on his way to the Trojan War
“I am the shape you made me,” says Elektra
Fish grasps that myth is best delivered in primal
and his staging is accordingly minimal – with a rotating centre around which the chorus squats and frequent use of sound distortion compounding the sense of unease and menace
The dialogue is punctuated by eerie noises and interwoven recordings – including Beyoncé’s Daddy Lessons (“Daddy made a soldier out of me”)
this is a memorable rendering of an ancient play
that American culture is presently fixated upon the nation’s rough origins
The glossy variant of this preoccupation is Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone and its spin-off shows
this is America as a Hobbesian state of nature
and indigenous Americans vie for control of the Utah Territory
Sara Rowell (Betty Gilipin) and her son Devin (Preston Mota) arrive at Fort Bridger
seeks to make the entire continent “Zion” for his fellow Mormons
led by the warrior Red Feather (Derek Hinkey)
accepts no compromise with the white colonisers and takes revenge wherever it can
Sara finds a guide and protector in Isaac Reed (Taylor Kitsch)
who was raised by the Shoshone – which is not to say that any of their travelling party is safe
American Primeval is not for the faint-hearted: think Cormac McCarthy’s Blood Meridian (1985) souped up with the ultraviolent aesthetic of today’s video games
this absorbing six-part detective drama is adapted by Milly Thomas from a trilogy of books by the Swedish duo Jerker Eriksson and Håkan Axlander Sundquist who use the pen-name “Erik Axl Sund”
The Crow Girl nonetheless transports the genre’s trademark sense of foreboding
lurking evil and terse language successfully from Scandinavia to the West Country
As a series of corpses of young men is discovered
terrific) seeks the help of psychotherapist Sophie Craven (Katherine Kelly) – who has her own problems with a patient suffering from schizophrenia and another even darker case from her past
Is Kilburn’s old-school sidekick and family friend
And is there a connection between the murders and illegal cage fights in which young asylum seekers are pitted against one another

The binding thesis is that meditation expands consciousness which helps the artist catch the “big fish” of great ideas: the “happy accidents” of creativity
But the book is also a luminous treasury of memories: Lynch taking a job delivering the Wall Street Journal so he can complete Eraserhead (1977); the role played by chance in creating the terrifying image of Laura Palmer’s killer in Twin Peaks (1990-2017); the birth in meditation of Mulholland Drive (2001); and Lynch’s conclusion
that “film is dead” and that the future is digital video
English spelling is notoriously difficult to learn; how might we benefit by reforming it – and what would we lose
15 Apr 2025Comic Ronni Ancona has opened up about some past regrets while reminiscing about her time on the sketch show Big Impression
On Tuesday's episode of BBC Breakfast
the 56-year-old chatted with hosts Jon Kay and Sally Nugent
The conversation veered towards a recent Saturday Night Live parody which took aim at the physical traits of Aimee Lou Wood
known for her roles in Sex Education and White Lotus
The portrayal of Aimee included exaggerated fake teeth and a distinct accent
Aimee herself had publicly criticised the spoof for being cruel and not funny
especially in light of her own series Big Impression where she often mimicked public figures
you have done lots of impressions of lots of different people
that would be a caricature of what they look like
I just wonder what you make of the Aimee Lou Wood sketch?"
Very funny and very talented and very beautiful actually
She observed that all other segments constituted political satire, apart from Aimee’s portrayal, which was devoid of any political context, reports the Daily Record.
Ronnie noted her understanding that the writers were probably aiming for a parallel between Robert F. Kennedy Jr's particular stance on removing fluoride from water and teeth.
She continued: "It was a bit of a cheap shot, really, because she's quite right. I'm no dentist, but I don't think fluoride changes the shape of your teeth. I think she's got beautiful teeth.
Ronni Ancona has supported Aimee Lou Wood after SNL sketch fury"I think she was the victim of that old archetype, a very tired trope that British all have bad teeth, which I think we're all rather tired of."
The BBC hosts then took a look at some of Ronnie's past sketches in Big Impression and wondered if she'd still perform some of them today.
An old clip was played showing Ronni impersonating Victoria Beckham, leading Sally to ask: "Do you think you would do that today? Would that stand the test of time?"
She responded: "Funny enough, I regret some of the- I mean Victoria Becham. Listen, we sort of caught the zeitgeist right in the beginning of this big celebrity culture that was emerging."
The comedian had impersonated Victoria Beckham in the pastRonnie explained to Jon and Sally that she'd be imagining what Victoria would be saying at home with David Beckham.
She went on to say: "You wouldn't be able to do that these days because of the advent of social media, everybody knows what everybody is going all the time!" That's what makes parody and satire very difficult to do these days."
The comedian mentioned there were aspects of the sketch she was wary of including and didn't reference her physical appearance.
BBC Breakfast is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
