Castelfranco Veneto lost one of its most illustrious figures: Francesco Maria Preti (Castelfranco Veneto
architect and intellectual among the main protagonists of the lively cultural season that characterized the 18th century in the city of Giorgione
Castelfranco celebrates this extraordinary personality with an exhibition that traces his legacy and recounts the cultural and artistic life of the time
the exhibition entitled Scholars and Libertines
The Eighteenth Century in the City of Giorgione
Francesco Maria Preti will be staged in three venues: the Museo Casa Giorgione
the Teatro Accademico section curated by Danila Dal Pos
The exhibition will offer a journey into the atmosphere of the eighteenth century
a period when Castelfranco was a commercial and cultural crossroads of the Venetian mainland
enlivened by prominent figures such as Giovanni Rizzetti and Jacopo Riccati.Francesco Maria Preti is a central figure both in the history of Castelfranco and in eighteenth-century architecture
Among his most famous works are the design of the Teatro Accademico
where he applied the theory of proportional mean harmonic
His activity extended to theoretical reflection and active participation in the fervent cultural coterie that characterized Castelfranco in the 18th century
The exhibition will trace Preti’s contribution
exploring the intellectual context in which he operated and highlighting his ability to combine science
art and music in a harmonious vision of knowledge
recalls the fascinating dualism of a time when scientific and intellectual research was intertwined with a social life animated by lively fashions
Among the exhibition’s protagonists are Giovanni Rizzetti
who first applied the theory of proportional harmonic mean
a mathematician known for the differential equation that bears his name and gave birth to the so-called Riccati school
Through a selection of works and testimonies
the exhibition will offer a glimpse into the daily life of the time: prints
costumes and musical instruments will accompany the visitor on a journey through arts
science and philosophy in a perfect synthesis
One of his most significant contributions was the theory of the harmonic proportional mean
developed as early as 1723 during the design of Castelfranco Cathedral
represented the starting point for a career that would redefine the aesthetic canons of his time
Encouraged by mathematician Giovanni Rizzetti
Preti developed his first theories on proportionality in the Ca’Amata villa in Salvarosa
through discussions with such personalities as Jacopo Riccati
Giuseppe Tartini and Francesco Antonio Vallotti
he perfected his approach: architectural elements were to reflect numerical ratios similar to musical chords
Among his major works are the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and San Liberale in Castelfranco Veneto
the Teatro Accademico represents a unicum in Italian architecture
Defined as “emeronizio” for its ability to be illuminated by natural light
this multifunctional space was designed to host both Academy meetings and day and night performances
The design embodies the principles formulated by Preti in his Elements (published posthumously in 1780): proportions based on arithmetic and harmonic mean
continuity of lines and calculation of heights according to musical ratios
articulated according to mathematical patterns
reflects an idea of space as a harmonic composition
such as the rebuilding of the atrium and facade between 1853 and 1858 to the design of engineer A
the Academic Theater remains an outstanding example of Preti’s vision
“In the salons and Athenaeums of the time
Jean Philippe Rameau and Jean-Adam Serre were discussed”- writes Stefania Colonna-Preti in the exhibition catalog
Tartini published in Padua the Trattato della Musica
secondo la vera scienza della Armonia ( Treatise on Music
According to the True Science of Harmony); Giordano Riccati wrote an essay Sopra le leggi del Contrappunto (On the Laws of Counterpoint)
along with dissertations and letters on musical topics
and devoted himself to the study of Tartini’s and Rameau’s systems
young Francesco Maria Preti grows up and thus starts his career as an ’amateur’ architect."

The clear objective of the black and whites is the entire stake, to stay in touch with those ahead of them in the standings and indeed, on this occasion, also take advantage of the result of the direct clash between Saronno and Pianoro, ahead of Italposa by just one point; therefore a double victory would allow the girls of manager Donny Hale to certainly gain ground in the standings.
The black and whites must be able to ride the favorable moment of Logan Moreland, definitely 'on fire' in the box: the American in fact, as also underlined by the Federation's social channels this week, has already scored 3 home runs in 4 games.
The hosts have added various additions to the historic core that last year achieved a comfortable salvation: alongside the reconfirmed Japanese Soma Risa, a pitcher also Japanese, Mihara Chisora, has arrived. From Holland, instead, the utility Cheska Ham has arrived, replacing the other Dutch De Jonge, not reconfirmed. Finally, the Spanish Yulan Dena, an infielder and international roja, has been added.
New entry also in the Treviso staff: the new manager, from Friuli and former coach of Castionese, is Diego Drigani, who has his girls batting at a .263 average so far, against Forlì's .351, with the most productive being Fabbian (.500 average) and Gamba (.412).
At Italposa all present: Cacciamani's problems have resolved and Johnson is hunting for her first win of the season. Cacciamani herself, therefore, and Comar, will be the pitchers of the first match: they will oppose Biasi. In the second match on the mound it will be Johnson's turn, against the aforementioned Japanese Mihara for the foreigners' platform.
The other matches: Saronno-Pianoro, Collecchio-Parma, Bollate-Macerata and Caronno-Rovigo.
Other results (4th day): Saronno-Pianoro 6-5, 3-2; Parma-Collecchio 2-10, 0-11; Caronno-Rovigo 10-0, 7-0; Bollate-Macerata 9-0, susp. (1-0).
Standings: Bollate (7-0) 1.000; Saronno (7-1) .875; Forlì (5-3), Pianoro (5-3) .625; Caronno (3-3), Collecchio (4-4) .500; Rovigo (2-6) and Thunders (2-6) .250; Macerata (1-4) .200; Parma (1-7) .125.
At Feva restaurant in the town of Castelfranco Veneto in northern Italy
chef Nicola Dinato has come up with a dish called Aria Fritta
or "fried air" that resembles an airy cloud and the people all over the internet are gagging for it
The fried air dish is actually deep fried tapioca that is served on top of a fluffy bed of cotton candy along with a soy-based mayonnaise topped with black sesame and kombu
It’s served as a canapé as part of the restaurant’s 8-course degustation menu
Feva is run by owner-chef Nicola Dinato who trained at Ferran Adria’s El Bulli, Grant Achatz’s Alinea and Le Louis XV by Alain Ducasse in Montecarlo prior to his opening his restaurant
which has held one Michelin star since 2015.
Located in a centuries-old ex-monastery with just 30 covers
Feva is known for its creative cooking that blends tradition with innovation
Dinato is also part of the CuSvi association
a non-profit food research and development lab that studies the ingredients

A nursing home in north Italy has created a "stanza degli abbracci," or Hug Room, to allow its elderly residents to hug their loved ones without risk of covid-19 contagion
has installed a special anti-contagion curtain
making an all-important embrace possible during a difficult and often lonely time
Management at the facility say that physical contact with family members helps its residents enjoy greater mental and emotional well-being
which in turn helps them to cope with the situation better
Relatives are admitted to the isolated room after undergoing strict health and safety protocols
before being allowed to make physical contact through the see-through curtain and talk face-to-face with their elderly loved ones
some of whom had not seen their family in months
"At last I was able to hug my daughter again" - said a elderly lady at the home
with tears in her eyes - "after weeks of video calls it seemed like a mirage
it was a contact that I had been missing for too long."

Veneto boasts some of the most famous tourist resorts in Italy, but in addition to its countless art cities, such as Verona and Venice, and, of course, to the Lake Garda, it also fascinates with its picturesque villages and walled towns which have succeeded in preserving ancient traditions, local products and unique landscapes.
So if we've tickled your traveler's curiosity, here's a list of the 10 most beautiful villages in Veneto not to be missed during your tours in the region.

it is one of the most popular villages in the area because of its fine monuments-the Scaliger Castle and the Palazzo dei Capitani
Also worth visiting is the picturesque historic center with its narrow streets
In the province of Padua, Montagnana, also known as the walled city, is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Italy.
Its imposing walls have never been modified, making it a unique village in Europe. The Rocca Degli Alberi, the Mastio and the Castello di San Zeno stand out within the imposing walls surrounded by a moat.
The surrounding landscape can be totally admired from above and as well as the details of the old center with its alleys and most important buildings, including the ancient social theater, the Cathedral with its frescoes, the Church of Santa Maria del Torresino with its wooden crucifix, and the Tower of Malta. Walking through the streets of the village, visitors are also faced with the three entrance gates: Porta Padovana, Porta Vicentina and Porta Trevisana.
Cittadella is certainly one of the most beautiful villages in Veneto, a work of urban art and a time machine that takes us back to the Middle Ages.

Burano, one of the three main islands in the Venice lagoon
is one of the most colorful places in the world
which are said to have been painted by sailors in order to make them easily recognizable on foggy days
The tourist center of the island is Piazza Galuppi
where we find the main historic buildings such as the church of San Martino Vescovo
a curious building that has only a side entrance and a leaning bell tower similar to the Tower of Pisa
Also in Galuppi Square are the town hall building and the Lace Museum
where it is possible to learn about Burano's lace-making art
But to experience the atmosphere of the island at its best
you need to get lost in its colorful alleys
Move away from the central square and as you stroll
you will come across Bepi Suà's house and Gianfranco Rosso's house
with their hand-painted pictures on the wall
are among the most beautiful and picturesque houses on the whole island
Other distinctive places to take romantic and poetic photos are the Love Viewing Bridge and the Three Bridges
which connect three canals and three of main streets on the island
These are packed with small stores and restaurants where you can taste typical local dishes
Burano is one of the most beautiful villages in the Veneto because it represents an ancient
Asolo is a small village in the province of Treviso that belongs to the Club of the Borghi più Belli d'Italia (Italy's Most Beautiful Villages)
Because of its enchanting panoramic position among the hills
it was a destination for artists and writers from all over Europe; Giosuè Carducci called it “the city of a hundred horizons,” and Eleonora Duse
famous actress and lover of Gabriele D'Annunzio
The village is also linked to the figure of Caterina Cornaro
who became queen of Cyprus and gave the island to the Republic of Venice
transforming the castle into a gathering place for scholars and artists
which dominates the landscape from the peak of Monte Ricco
From here you can glimpse the historic center with its most important monuments: Piazza Garibaldi with its 16th-century fountain
inside the 15th-century Palazzo della Ragione
You cannot leave Asolo without tasting its typical products, such as the excellent Prosecco wine
extra virgin olive oil made from the special Asolo olive and Asolo flowers
delicious rose-shaped cakes made with puff pastry and apple slices
Famous for its Scaliger-era Castle, its city walls and its wine of the same name, the medieval village of Soave, the province of Verona
The history of the village is linked to that of its Roman-era castle: restored in the 14th century
Soave Castle is an example of a medieval fortress with drawbridges
The walls surrounding the village were built at the behest of the Scaligeri family to defend the territory
and it is possible to walk around the walls to observe the entrance gates with their dual access system
Another beautiful walk for those who do not suffer from vertigo is the one on the patrol walkways
from which there is a wonderful view of the vineyard-covered valleys and the rooftops of the medieval old town
we find the main monuments of Soave: the Cathedral of San Lorenzo
In the city that bears the name of its famous wine
you cannot miss a few glasses in one of the many wine cellars in the historic center
which has about 50 kilometers among wineries
In the province of Treviso and also close to Padua and Vicenza, we find Castelfranco Veneto
a medieval walled city guardian of excellence from various eras
The symbol of the town and its history are the castle and its walls
Castelfranco became a cultural hub and home to intellectuals
Here one of the greatest painters of the Renaissance was born and trained: Giorgio Zorzi
A visit to the city can only begin with the Castle
a painting made precisely by Giorgione in 1502
The other places of interest in the historic center are the artist's House Museum
In the area there are also as many as 16 Venetian villas protected by the Regional Institute for Venetian Villas
Castelfranco is also a popular destination for hikers as its territory offers trails and paths in nature
such as the Regional Natural Park of the Sile River and cycle-tourist routes such as the Strada del Radicchio Rosso di Treviso and the Strada del Vino del Montello (Treviso Red Radish Road and the Montello Wine Road)
Situated to the west side of the Piave River, Feltre lies on the slopes of Colle delle Capre, surrounded by its imposing Renaissance walls. Rich in history, it is set in a natural environment of the highest value: the Feltre Alps, gateway to the Belluno Dolomites National Park, a World Heritage Site.
This city has always been a key transit route for trade and armies, linking the Roman and Germanic worlds for centuries - from the Po Valley, across the Alps and the Danube, to Bavaria.
Around Feltre, tourism is synonymous with unspoiled nature, trails and outdoor life. In this sense, not to be missed is the valley of Mount Miesna, where the Sanctuary of Saints Vittore and Corona is also located, and the Lamen Valley, and from where the Belluno Dolomites can be reached.

A portrait attributed to Giorgione that experts have been wondering about for years has arrived in Italy : it will be on display at the exhibition "The Plots of Giorgione," scheduled in Castelfranco Veneto at the Casa Giorgione Museum from October 27
an expert on everything related to the Castelfranco Veneto artist
reserving an essay for it in the catalog: it may be one of Giorgione’s earliest works
when he was still searching for his way.Digging into the past
when the painting was in a private collection in Paris and even then experts wondered who the author was
although Giorgione’s name was still credited
After being considered a “circle” product in Richter’s (1937) and Morassi ’s (1942) Giorgionemonographs
the portrait ended up being exhibited inVenice at the “Giorgione and the Giorgioneschi” exhibition in 1955
the portrait was made by Giorgione in the early 1500s: a painter therefore at the beginning of his career
already innovative but still rather uncertain
it would be a work of great importance because it would be a further piece attesting to the beginnings of one of the most mysterious artists in the history of art
Pictured is the portrait attributed to Giorgione

was a revolution by name and nature as organisers sought to challenge the traditional show format with a light-hearted
but sometimes classical masterpieces can turn into pop hits and reach a wider audience
and the way fans enjoy those songs suddenly changes
Musical journalists call it ‘genre bending’
but what’s the correct term to use if the art is not music but the king of spirits
That was the question during the first edition of Whisky Revolution Festival (WRF)
an absolute novelty in the small but stimulating Italian market
which took place 22-24 September at the Hotel Fior in Castelfranco Veneto
was developed and organised by two brothers
with one particular aim: ‘To get through whisky’s mythology
spreading its culture among new potential single malt lovers
whisky travels to the countryside for the first time
but to the small town of Castelfranco (population 33,500) in the rich and hilly region of Veneto
A countryside riddled with wonderful medieval villages and little factories that used to be the Italian economic locomotive during the ‘90s
‘Here we have a strong and radicated drinking culture,’ Davide explains
‘This is the heartland of Prosecco production – the Spritz was invented in Venice; we have dozens of grappa distilleries
We love quality in wine and gastronomy; we can recognise good things
and Scotch is simply the best thing a person can drink.’
New faces: More young Italians are discovering the joys of whisky at shows like Whisky Revolution
Driven by their passion, Davide and Dario opened a whisky bar in Castelfranco in September 2017. They called it Blend
excellent mixology and one dream: to be able to one day serve at least a drop from every working distillery in the world
they decided to organise WRF to give Veneto’s newborn whisky movement a new gravitational centre
and this helps us to explain our products,’ she says
‘It’s not so common to have enough time for it during a festival.’
but all these revolutionary ideas – from mixology to music – are very welcome.’
Evening entertainment: Live music accompanied drammers long after the sun had set on Veneto
whereas the show was not a great success for American whiskey classes
In terms of visitors – around 1,000 attended across the three days – numbers say that there wasn’t a big boom
Operating outside of the main towns means fewer visitors
while first editions are always challenging
so even if hopes were optimistic for a popular first event
and attendance at the 14 masterclasses was enthusiastic
regional sales manager for Tomatin points out: ‘They were the kind of events that really bring people closer and arouse their curiosity.’
That’s why WRF deserves time and more years of tastings and events to bypass grappa’s cultural walls to succeed
Perhaps a different location in the near but larger town of Treviso
and spread across two days instead of three would help
as would a more diverse selection of brands
But according to the passion demonstrated by visitors
Veneto could soon turn into a gold mine for the whisky industry
As Marco Maltagliati from Whisky Alchemy says: ‘Here they treat whisky as an emotion and not just as a product.’ Claudio Riva
Italy is not so small; it has plenty of opportunity
The industry needs to be patient to find the correct way to enter the market and the heart of consumers: it’s a long and hard road for the king of spirits to become pop

Such is the sentiment of a famous aphorism that aptly describes the photo of a Scottish piper traversing the streets of Veneto during the First World War
at least not for us Venetians with a passion for the Scottish Bagpipes
But let’s start by telling the story from the beginning
the Veneto Piping School participates in the commemoration ceremonies of Remembrance Sunday at the British cemeteries of Giavera del Montello and Tezze di Vazzola
and at the war memorial in Maserada sul Piave in the province of Treviso
It’s precisely at this last location that an informative totem catches our attention
the recently installed totem also features a photo of a Pipe Band from the First World War
It’s obligatory to have our band’s photo (above) with this historic backdrop
But then a question arises among us: “Is it really a photo of a Scottish pipe band from the First World War taken in Veneto
Or is it a photo taken elsewhere on the European front and symbolically placed on the totem?”
start researching online and sending emails to the municipalities involved in the commemorations
to the historical museum Museo Storico della Grande Guerra in Maserada sul Piave
and to the Museo della Battaglia di Vittorio Veneto
The response from the museum in Maserada doesn’t take long to arrive
Besides Scottish soldiers’ battalions in Veneto during the Great War
The discovery fills us with enthusiasm; the photo in question was indeed taken in the area of Vittorio Veneto (Treviso) in December 1917 when British allies came to aid the Italian army engaged at the front from the Asiago plateau to the Piave River after the defeat of Caporetto
it’s a photo of a bagpipe and drum band of the Gordon Highlanders
the famous infantry regiment of the then 7th Division of the British Army
and we manage to discover other photos: a stereoscopic photo of the same regiment and the same band with a detailed caption reading “Italo-Austrian War
Allied troops on our front – Castelfranco Veneto – December 1917 – A company of Scotsmen in their characteristic costume” (Fig.2)
Finally, a video of British soldiers detrain from a train at Fontaniva station (Padova) followed by a clip focusing on pipers marching and playing. https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/1060008198
These three small photos above and the video are preserved by the Imperial War Museum in London and available as viewable material in the museum’s online archive
Thanks to these research efforts and to the discovery of historical photographic and video material
we find out that there were three Scottish battalions in Italy during the First World War: the 6th Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders
two divisions were on the front line on the Piave
while the others were in reserve behind them
namely the area between Vicenza and Legnago
which constituted the concentration zone of the British contingent (Fig.7)
Between the end of December 1917 and January 1918
they began to move towards the plateau and the Piave to enter into action at the front
two divisions (the 5th with the Argyll & Sutherland and the King’s Own Scottish Borderers
alternating on the plateau first and then on the Piave
It was truly incredible to find all this historical material and discover tangible evidence that the places surrounding us were so closely involved in the dramatic events of the past wars; our thoughts naturally go to those who lost their lives
Perhaps among the rediscovered photos are also those of the two MacLeod soldiers whom the Veneto Piping School commemorates every year with a dedicated ceremony at the British cemeteries of Barenthal (Asiago) and Montecchio Precalcino (Vicenza)
the faces of many young people have remained imprinted
we cannot know… But one thing we do know: in the worrying and sad reality of war
a piper found the strength to give a moment of lightheartedness to children and bring a smile by doing the only thing he could do for them at that moment: playing the bagpipe
We don’t know the name of that piper
but his act of kindness surely left a lasting impression
first on the children who listened to him then and also on us
more than a hundred years later from that December 1917
we can still admire his gesture captured in the photo
“I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay… small acts of kindness and love.”
And it’s precisely this example and spirit that the Veneto Piping School wants to bring and tries to convey to the audience during its performances
a heartfelt thank you to the Piper in the photo for still being an inspiration today

The 28th edition of the Corsa Internazionale Oderzo
with Daniel Oss and Peter Sagan taking first and second after heavy rain affected the finale of the race in Castelfranco Veneto
Sagan takes Liquigas' winning streak to three
Bettini names Italian team for Giro del Veneto
Oss attacked on a cobbled corner 1.5km from the finish and only Sagan was able to go with him
as the rest of the peloton struggled under the pouring rain
The duo's lead was minimal but they stayed together and stayed clear
with Luca Paolini (Acqua & Sapone) fourth and Nicolas Schnyder (Price - Custom Bikes) fifth
Most of the peloton finished 23 seconds down after a crash by Brazil’s Murilo Fischer (Garmin-Transitions) on a late corner caused havoc
It was Oss’s first victory as a professional rider
“I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time
I’ve gone close several times this season but I was always missing that little bit extra you need to win,” Oss said
“Today everything went exactly right
We knew the last two kilometres were dangerous because of the cobbled roads and because of the rain
Me and Sagan gave it everything with 1.5km to go
Thanks to a bit of luck and a by taking a few risks
Oss defeated the ten-rider Italian national team that took part in the Giro del Veneto
The squad included former world champion Alessandro Ballan
who usually rides for the Vacansoleil team
Oss showed his ability in the classics in the spring and was part of the Liquigas-Doimo team at the Tour de France
perhaps with a place in the Italian team for the world championships
“The Tour de France was a big test for me and despite having ridden the Eneco Tour
I now hope I can keep this form for the next few weeks
I want to be in the thick of the action in the final part of the season with Liquigas-Doimo and who knows
perhaps even deserve a place in the Italian team for the world championships.”

While major details about Rima Edbouche are out of the dark, let’s know their relationship story and how they met.
As per various sources, Ousmane Dembele and Rima Edbouche crossed paths with each other for the first time in France. The 25-year-old soccer star allegedly met his significant other during his time with his childhood club, Rennes, between 2010 and 2015, before he moved to Dortmund. Since then, they have kept their relationship so private that the news of Dembele tying the knot in 2021 sent shockwaves through the soccer world.
The biggest of the reasons was that instead of a lavish, grandeur ceremony, the winger held a private traditional Moroccan wedding with his close ones, not inviting any of his national or then-Barcelona teammates. Speaking of their children, the two share a daughter whose name is unknown. The little one was reportedly born on September 16, 2022, at a local hospital in Barcelona.
Moreover, just hours after his daughter’s birth, Dembele was seen playing in a La Liga fixture for the Catalans against Elche, which they won 3-0. Last season, Ousmane Dembele made a surprising move to France, where he, his wife, and their daughter live happily.
