I was already very impressed by the magnitude of the event
really romantic to link myself being here today and my great grandfather giving the blessing at the time to the Cavallino magazine
“What’s special is that every single car here has a different story

Engines roared on the curated lawns of The Breakers resort Saturday as hundreds of Ferrari enthusiasts gathered for the 34th annual Palm Beach Cavallino Classic Concorso d’Eleganza
Organizers said about 2,000 Ferrari lovers and collectors were on hand to view the over 150 models on display during what is billed as the largest Ferrari showcase in the Western Hemisphere
Collectors competed for multiple awards, including one of three coveted Best in Show awards, a collector's potential ticket to the famed Peninsula Hotel Group’s “Best of the Best” competition
which features the “Concorso d’Eleganza” winner and winners from seven other prestigious classic-car events
The showcase also marked the 30th anniversary of the Ferrari F50 and the 50th anniversary of the Ferrari 308 GTB
Kicking off Saturday’s showcase was a welcome ceremony that started with a presentation of the colors by the Palm Beach Police and Fire Rescue Honor Guard
That was followed by ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Cavallino Chairman and CEO Luigi Orlandini
He was flanked by Ferrari heir and Cavallino President Enzo Mattioli Ferrari; master-of-ceremonies
motoring journalist Amanda Stretton; Palm Beach Mayor Danielle Moore; Italian Consul General Michele Mistò of the Consulate General of Italy in Miami; and John W
founder and president emeritus of Cavallino
While Saturday marked Ferrari’s first Palm Beach Cavallino Classic as president of the organization
he told reporters that he had been a regular attendee since the late 1990s
“I think I came here the first time in 1998 with my grandfather and my father
and I’m still amazed by the event,” Ferrari said
He decided to invest in the organization after attending last year as a guest of honor.
Ferrari said he and Cavallino share a vision of expanding the brand and the Concorso D’Eleganza to bring in more Ferrari collectors as well as making it a platform to lure younger generations into the world of classic cars
we will be discussing cars like they were dinosaurs,” Ferrari said
The event offered a 50% discount on entry for those 25 and younger so young adults mingled with fellow enthusiasts as well as collectors
chatting about their favorite models or snapping a picture of one of the plethora of one-of-a-kind vintage Ferraris
Palm Beachers spotted at the Concorso d'Eleganza included fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger and his wife Dee
Palm Beach Police and Fire Foundation co-founder John Scarpa and billionaire philanthropist Herbert Wertheim
One of the cars grabbing the most attention was the newly released Ferrari F80
a plug-in hybrid hyper car boasting a combined horsepower of 1,184
Judging for the event follows the framework set by the International Advisory Council for the Preservation of Ferrari Automobiles
an independent organization that has set the standard for judging vintage Ferraris
Cavallino Editorial Director Massimo Delbò said
Ferrari collectors come not only to win top prizes
but also to check the quality of their restoration
That’s why the event is considered the most important Ferrari event in the world
have your car judged and they tell you if you did good work or if you did a mistake
with each deviation marked as a slight reduction to the overall score
Those deviations aren’t limited to technical issues
as each car is judged on whether the owner’s restoration rings true to the history of that specific model
if a car was used both at one point as a race car
Delbo said a collector must cite which era of the car their restoration represents
when you apply for your car (to be judged)
you have to provide the story that you know about the car,” he said
a mark of quality for the preservation or restoration of a Ferrari
Judges then meet to choose the winners of the event's 25 awards
The winners of the 3 Palm Beach Cavallino Classic Best in Show awards are:
Best of Show Granturismo: 1954 Ferrari 375 MM belonging to a private collector
Best of Show Competizione: 1957 Ferrari 335 S belonging to Brian Ross
Best of Show Classiche Certified: 1967 Ferrari Dino 206 S belonging to private collector

Italians know Cavallino as the famous restaurant across the street from the Ferrari factory in Maranello
and Sydney—Cavallino is a series of exquisite gatherings of the rarest Ferraris
was to connect owners who were serious about restoring their cars to original condition
I know it's the gold standard," says Bruno
who brought a 1959 250 GT Tour de France and has attended for more than 20 years
When a judge once questioned if his driver's side mirror was period-correct
Feedback that helps owners to make their cars more authentic is one of the advantages of participation
Bragging rights are so guarded that Ferrari's earliest race cars
such as the 1957 335 S that Brian Ross purchased for $36 million
receive the most demanding scrutiny at Cavallino
is the "most final appraisal" an owner can hope to receive
getting information was the biggest problem for Ferrari owners," he says
noting how his magazine began identifying cars not by model
"It went from 'This is a Ferrari,' to 'This is this Ferrari.' Every person is bringing a little slice of knowledge."
the Cavallino Classic has a bigger purpose beyond the police roadblocks and polished aluminum trophies
"We are grooming a new generation of collectors," he says
it will be like discussing cars like they are dinosaurs."

The next batch of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges is starting to become available to players over the next few hours
unlocking as local clocks tick past midnight
Weekly Challenges comprise five events which refresh each week
with four selected from existing World Circuits events and a fifth Special Event that is created just for the week
And we’d like to see most of those coming back as Bonus Menu Books
Completing the events — by finishing third or better — earns you bonus rewards as well as the credits for your results
This week’s starter race is a three-lap amble around the Suzuka Circuit East Short Course in the Japanese FF Challenge 450
The “450” of the name is a suggested Performance Point (PP) value for a competitive race
All you need is a front-wheel drive road car from Japan for the event
The second of this week’s three road car races comes in the European FR Challenge 550 at the Red Bull Ring
rear-wheel drive road car from European manufacturer for this three-lap race that can earn you 25,000cr for the win
similar event comes in the American Clubman Cup 700
with the event only requiring a road or professionally tuned (such as the SEMA-winning cars) vehicle from the USA
It’s a five-lap race of Watkins Glen
You might need to unlock the fourth race
as it appears as part of the Bonus Menu Books
That’s the Vision Gran Turismo Trophy (Book 41)
and as you’d expect you’ll need an eligible car from the unique concept car program to take part
there’s a hard limit of 850PP for this seven-lap race around the reverse version of Deep Forest
with an 81,000cr prize for finishing first
Our final race is the Special Event which takes the form of an additional race in the Ferrari Circuit Challenge
While not the first time we’ve seen a temporary extra race in an existing event series
The requirements are the same as the permanent one
with any Ferrari car up to a 700PP limit eligible — even racing cars
Winning the eight-lap race at the full Fuji Speedway will land you 90,000cr
After a few weeks of all-credit rewards we’re seeing a return to more regular bonuses this week
There’s a Six-Star (Parts) ticket for clearing any one event
a 150,000cr ticket (which you’ll need to redeem from your Garage’s Gifts section) for finishing any three
and the rare Six-Star (Car) ticket if you finish all five
That can reward you with any car from Brand Central worth 500,000cr or more — including the Invitation cars
You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges
The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings
so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday January 17

The Breakers' lawn was swept by a sea of Ferrari red Saturday with the kickoff of the 33rd annual Palm Beach Cavallino Classic's "Concorso d'Eleganza."
Over 2,000 people gathered to see the 150 Ferraris on display in what is considered to be one of the largest Ferrari showcases in the world
Attracting Ferrari collectors from around the world
the event is reserved for automobiles epitomizing Ferrari’s engineering ingenuity and its classic style
With 125 vintage Ferraris up for judging, collectors compete for 25 awards, including the coveted Best in Show awards, a collector's potential ticket to the famed Peninsula Hotel Group’s “Best of the Best” competition alongside winners from seven other prestigious classic-car events
This year's Concorso d'Eleganza also marked the anniversary of three notable Ferrari models
the 60-year anniversary of the 275 GTB and GTS
the 40-year anniversary of the 288 GTO and the 40-year anniversary of the Testarossa
Kicking off the event was a welcome ceremony featuring a speech by Luigi Orlandini, founder, chairman and CEO of Canossa
the Italian car show organizer leading the event
Orlandini was flanked by notable guests including the great-grandson of the late Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari
Enzo Mattioli Ferrari; Italian Consul General Michele Mistò of the Consulate General of Italy in Miami; Andrea Modena
head of Ferrari’s classic car division; Bud Root
experience manager for Ferrari of Palm Beach; Palm Beach Fire and Police Foundation founder and CEO John Scarpa; and John W
“John Barnes is the one who created all of this
I’m just the custodian of it for the time being," Orlandini said
“I’m so glad that I have this opportunity to continue this incredible
Orlandini had purchased Cavallino
the American-based magazine centered on the Italian car brand in 2020
with the goal of expanding the already renowned brand and the Concorso D’Eleganza
“I think Cavallino should also be a connection point between the two countries that the Cavallino calls home
who reflected on both Cavallino and Ferrari’s storied history
“This (event) epitomizes what Ferrari stands for; traditions passing through generations
traditions passing through a community’s hearts and minds,” said Mistò
cars which are not only cars but pieces of art
Finishing off the welcome ceremony was the ribbon-cutting
featuring flag ribbons from the United States and Italy
Enthusiasts and collectors alike filled the lawn
snapping pictures next to one-of-a-kind vintage Ferraris
or waiting for the judges to examine their car
Guests could also peruse the custom Formula 1 posters on display
created for every Grand Prix from the 2017 through 2023 seasons
The day also featured a catalogue of panels led by Ferrari history expert Massimo Delbò
Judging for the event follows the framework set out by the International Advisory Council for the Preservation of Ferrari Automobiles (IAC/PFA)
beginning with assigning a numerical evaluation between zero and 100
Those who score 97 and above receive the platinum award
a mark of quality for the preservation or restoration of a Ferrari
the judges meet again to choose the winners of the 25 awards
which he says takes a more subjective approach to choosing a car
“You may take factors into considerations (like) the car was a competition car
(or) the car was the first one to feature a particular technical innovation,” Ahlgrim said
“And that can be added together (with the numerical score) to help really determine which is the best of them.”
25 out of the 125 Ferraris would drive down the red carpet to be awarded the platinum award
The winners of the 33rd Palm Beach Cavallino Classic Best In Show awards are:
Orlandini couldn't hide his joy with how the event had turned out
you work one year to put this event together
but that day compensates all the effort you have to put in," Orlandini said to the Daily News
He also noted the efforts of his "great team" of 100 staff members
Orlandini said it was the passion of the collectors and enthusiast that truly make the event what it is
"It makes the atmosphere so friendly," he said
A portion of proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Palm Beach Police & Fire Foundation and the Alexander W
Dreyfoos School of the Arts through the Cavallino Foundation

a Boca Raton-based collector who is bringing some of the cars to the show
They will include a one-of-the-kind 1959 Ferrari 250 GT TDF
the only Ferrari of its series to sport a green paint scheme
The showcase is the first in a circuit of eight internationally recognized classic car events, or concours, that many consider to be the most prestigious car showcases. They include an annual event at the Pebble Beach resort in California at which an international group of experts judge qualifying cars on their authenticity and originality, said Luigi Orlandini, founder, chairman and CEO of Canossa
the Italian car event organizer leading the event
original and properly preserved or properly restored,” Orlandini told the Daily News
Cavallino stands out among the eight car events in its singular focus on classic Ferraris

In 2020 Cavallino was purchased by Canossa Events
a classic-car event organizer based in Italy's "Motor Valley," a region surrounding the city of Modena
which is the home to the headquarters of carmakers such as Ferrari
Orlandini said Canossa sought to expand the event's reach to anyone interested in a rare luxury experience
While the event officially begins with Thursday's welcome reception
the experience truly kicks off at 12:30 p.m

with the Ferrari receiving the most votes winning the People’s Choice Award
Saturday’s "Concorso d’Eleganza" opens to the public at 10 a.m
Those who pass on Saturday’s array of Ferraris may be interested in the day’s VIP experience
“We created a VIP lounge … which will offer good wines
socialize and enjoy the setting of the event itself,” Orlandini said
Also on display will be an exhibit featuring the custom Formula 1 posters created for every Grand Prix from the 2017 through 2023 seasons
The daytime processions conclude with an award presentation and a car parade featuring the award-winning Ferraris
will be delivered during Saturday evening’s Cavallino Award Night
The Breakers executive chef; Michele Casadei Massari
executive chef of La Lucciola New York; and Juan Manuel Barrientos
the chef at El Cielo Miami; working side by side to deliver a multicourse dining experience
to position Cavallino not just as a car show but as a great experience
and something that can be of interest to anyone,” Orlandini said
Ending the four-day Ferrari celebration will be "Classic & Sports Sunday” at the Mar-a-Lago Club
a show open to classic cars of all marques
The day will also feature a “light judging” panel
with winners having the chance to win a selection of small prizes
The event officially concludes with a 11:30 a.m
