Follow him on Twitter @BrooksAustinBA but that commitment did not hold towards the end of 2024 The day is finally here for five-star quarterback Jared Curtis to announce his final commitment. The No. 1 QB in the 2026 recruiting class was a one time Georgia commit Georgia not only has stayed in the race for Curtis since he decommitted, but they also were named one of two finalists for Curtis along with Oregon The Ducks were thought to be the favorite for most of this recruitment but things have shifted over time to the point where it wouldn’t be surprising for either UGA or Oregon to win So as his commitment is set to come to a conclusion later on Monday let’s take a quick look at two things that really stand out in Curtis’s recruitment and how they could impact his final decision The below information was shared by Jeff Sentell of dawgnation.com Many have assumed that Curtis would be committing to the school who makes the highest NIL bid Dawg Nation was able to confirm that neither Georgia nor Oregon offered Curtis the highest NIL amount so the notion that NIL is the most important thing to him is false most believe that neither school will come in at the final hour with a much higher NIL offer to try and sway his decision at the last second Dawg Nation also believes that Curtis will completely shut down his recruitment after announcing his commitment to focus on his senior season in high school and help recruit a better 2026 class to whichever school he ends up picking Curtis is scheduled to announce his commitment at 5:30 pm EST on Monday © 2025 Minute Media - All Rights Reserved The content on this site is for entertainment and educational purposes only Betting and gambling content is intended for individuals 21+ and is based on individual commentators' opinions and not that of Minute Media or its affiliates and related brands All picks and predictions are suggestions only and not a guarantee of success or profit If you or someone you know has a gambling problem crisis counseling and referral services can be accessed by calling 1-800-GAMBLER Georgia not only has stayed in the race for Curtis since he decommitted, but they also were named one of two finalists for Curtis along with Oregon The below information was shared by Jeff Sentell of dawgnation.com. Many have assumed that Curtis would be committing to the school who makes the highest NIL bid, but that however is not the case. Dawg Nation was able to confirm that neither Georgia nor Oregon offered Curtis the highest NIL amount, so the notion that NIL is the most important thing to him is false. On top of that, most believe that neither school will come in at the final hour with a much higher NIL offer to try and sway his decision at the last second. Dawg Nation also believes that Curtis will completely shut down his recruitment after announcing his commitment. He will do this for two big reasons, to focus on his senior season in high school and help recruit a better 2026 class to whichever school he ends up picking. Curtis is scheduled to announce his commitment at 5:30 pm EST on Monday, May 5. LIVE UPDATESShasta County appoints Clint Curtis as registrar of votersby Ashley Harting REDDING, Calif. — The Shasta County Board of Supervisors has appointed Clint Curtis as the new interim registrar of voters and clerk following a 3-2 vote at a special meeting on April 30 an election lawyer with offices in New York and Florida was selected from four candidates to fill the position vacated twice due to health-related resignations His appointment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check There were initially five candidates up for the position but one was not present at the April 30 meeting while Supervisors Allen Long and Matt Plummer backed Joanna Francescut the Shasta County assistant registrar of voters I think he is going to give us the most transparency in elections and I believe that this is the change that our community needs I feel like it would unite the community and bring trust." Curtis expressed his dedication to adhering to election laws at the special meeting "Laws will change and we have to follow whatever law that is I will be glad to implement that." He also suggested photographing ballots to ensure accuracy and transparency Francescut announced her intention to run for the position in 2026 "My goal is to become the next county clerk and registrar of voters," Francescut said "I am committed to serving in this county and providing the best service possible many people have reached out to me to provide their support whether or not you appoint me or not." only two candidates were mentioned during public comment: Francescut and Curtis One supporter of Francescut spoke up during public comment saying: "I am a supporter of Joanna Francescut for all of the obvious reasons.. But in the event that the board does not decide to appoint Joanna please appoint one of the candidates at least who has experience in running elections." Click to check it out and download it. There’s an ongoing perception here that the school with the biggest billfold is going to win out in this recruitment where there have been many publicized recruitments of late where 5-star QBs signees have reportedly commanded packages of $2 million to $3 million per season “He’s a kid who loves ball,” his agent Peter Webb said “He loves his family and just wants to go to a school that’s going to give him the opportunity to be a great teammate and reach his dreams of playing at the highest level and I think that’s been lost in the NIL world.” That’s the way this decision has been consistently portrayed by his circle to DawgNation Webb and his team represent Curtis for QB Reps NFL quarterbacks Riley Leonard and Bo Nix are clients as is former 5-star Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson Their roster goes deeper than that with QBs at Tennessee They’ve represented Curtis dating back to his sophomore year when some trading card and apparel deals came his way this decision will not simply be a transactional win for the balance sheets and collectives representing each school DawgNation has learned neither of these schools was the highest bidder for Curtis “If Jared was chasing the best compensation package These schools may not have even been in the finals His interest in Georgia and Oregon – and really the difficulty in this decision – has been motivated by the relationships he’s developed during the recruiting process and the unique opportunities both programs provide We won’t even know what this complete financial framework looks like until after he commits to a university.” DawgNation has learned that there were multiple schools that had higher bids than his two finalists Curtis never went to competing programs and set a number for the market Webb said Curtis and his family were on the same page from the beginning of the process: chasing the highest bid was neither the priority nor a sound strategy in helping Jared achieve his ultimate goals of a fulfilling college experience and playing in the NFL “We were very clear from the beginning that you want to list out things that are important to you,” Webb said You want to look at the QBs that have come through their program and made it to the next level You want to look at the recruiting classes Are there some older guys in the room that you could learn from?” It wouldn’t be a stretch to surmise the NIL piece is less than 15 percent of the overall puzzle here that’s the reality and the opportunity of the landscape right now it has been a relatively small factor,” said QB Reps marketing director Doug Young “He knows that getting it done on the field and in the classroom is what’s most important and what will set him up for long-term success We are proud of Jared for thinking holistically about this decision and it has been very refreshing to watch it unfold.” There’s a measure of resilience here that has also gotten lost amid the scouting reports breaking down his immense arm talent Curtis loves the game and loves to compete DawgNation saw that firsthand at the Future 50 last summer when a hand injury relegated him to sideline “Coach Curtis” status while the nation’s other top QBs got to fling endless spirals to the best receivers Curtis started as a freshman at Nashville Christian The Eagles lost their first two starts in one-score games He recovered to lead his team to the state championship game but Nashville Christian lost that contest by a 34-27 margin He threw an interception at the 2-yard line with 12 seconds left in that one That 2022 season was one of growth for Curtis as he established himself as one of the nation’s elite QB prospects in 2026 The young man had no idea that he’d be contemplating a financial windfall for any 18-year-old in a few short years but saw his team slide to a 6-7 record as a sophomore at the same time he garnered national acclaim as a 5-star prospect For those who might want to throw shade at the Class II-Division A level of ball he plays in He threw 52 touchdowns but also 16 interceptions in his first two seasons of high school football Curtis responded in his junior year by leading his team to a 12-1 record and a runaway 49-21 win in his return to the state championship 225-pound rising senior raised his completion rate 15 percent in throwing for 2,830 yards there are sentences that can be formed that project his ability to spin it with the Josh Allens and Matthew Staffords of the football world Aside from his 70 percent completion rate as a junior the other wrinkle to his game would be his legs Curtis ran for 637 yards and 18 touchdowns last fall While he won’t be running away from elite defenders in the SEC or even the Big Ten he projects to be a serious red-zone weapon The 5-star now holds a 62 percent career completion mark while throwing for 7,665 yards and 19 interceptions at a level that equates to something between Class 1A and Class 2A in Georgia He’s been able to make plays with his legs on the regular running past boxes that he’s either bigger or faster than or both Curtis has a career average of 6.7 yards per rush attempt He’s totaled up 1,663 rushing yards and 38 touchdowns That’s why Georgia and Oregon are going down to the wire here while they wait for his decision His choice will either anchor or level their wildest dreams for their 2026 recruiting classes As DawgNation reported earlier this week that decision will be shared at 5:30 PM EST from a traditional school ceremony at Nashville Christian in Tennessee It will be big news if he chooses to recommit to play for Kirby Smart and the Dawgs he will be the first 5-star QB signee since Brock Vandagriff in 2021 He will be the highest-rated and most talented QB signee for the Bulldogs since Justin Fields in 2018 According to the 247Sports Composite all-time database that will make him the second-highest rated QB signee in UGA history His 0.9980 prospect rating also places him ahead of former 5-stars Jacob Eason and Matthew Stafford coming out of high school It will also be a major story if he’s heading the 1,900 miles or so to play for Dan Lanning’s Ducks the onus for UGA will then be to place the full front of their QB recruiting focus on talented 4-star Texan Bowe Bentley Bentley also has the Dawgs among his final three schools and would be an excellent fit in Athens in his own right Have The No. 1 quarterback in the country and No. 3 overall player has Georgia and Oregon as his two finalists Typically when a high profile recruitment only has two days remaining it is pretty set in stone where that player is going to go Both Georgia and Oregon are still hopeful they will end up on top and bring the best quarterback in the 2026 class home both schools had one final visit scheduled with Curtis on May 4 but Curtis has opted to make one final change in his recruitment that impacts both teams Five-star QB Jared Curtis has shut it down. Georgia or Oregon? At this point is still too close to call as no official predictions have been logged yet, but many recruiting experts out there believe Georgia might be the slight favorite heading into Curtis's decision So let's hope that is the case and that Georgia receives some great news from Curtis at 5:30 pm EST on Monday Five-star QB Jared Curtis has shut it down. Curtis’s commitment date could get pushed back from Monday “Everybody around him says he doesn’t know for sure. He is going to meet with Mike Bobo at Georgia and Will Stein at Oregon potentially twice this week before he makes a decision,” Loy said “They have an decision made for an announcement on Monday afternoon There is still an outside shot it gets postponed because it is that close.” Loy also added that the Curtis decision could play a role in the decision for fellow class of 2026 five-star “There could be some interesting repercussions and how this plays out because I know we have been talking about Jackson Cantwell five-star offensive tackle…It wouldn’t shock me if ends up seeing where Jared decides to go,” Loy said “Those guys (Cantwell and Curtis) talk regularity One decision from Jared could play a big factor in Jackson Loy also sees Dixon-Wyatt committing to Oregon, although like Curtis, it is very close.  “I think when Kayden Dixon-Wyatt makes his decision, it will be Oregon or Ohio State. USC is going to battle over the next couple days. Kayden Dixon-Wyatt knows where he wants to go. He’s got his mind made up, but I do think it’s a lot of back and forth,” Loy said. “I’m going to give a slight edge to Oregon right now, but really close with Ohio State.” The University is currently operating under normal conditions The innovative learning space is a leading educational technology hub that features a broadcast and podcast studio a makerspace and state-of-the-art classrooms The UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media and Chancellor Kevin M Guskiewicz officially dedicated Carolina’s newest building — the Curtis Media Center — on Thursday evening Located adjacent to Carroll Hall at the campus gateway facing Cameron Avenue three-story building features a high-tech broadcast studio a makerspace and four state-of-the-art classrooms The Curtis Media Center will host classes this summer “Take a moment and imagine with me what will happen in this space: the true magic of discovery creativity and the training of the next generation of journalists It is going to be a special place; This fact is coming into play as his recruitment winds down as Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo is using that to his advantage According to multiple reports, Bobo traveled to Tennessee on Wednesday to visit Curtis as his commitment date closes in This visit however was matched by Oregon who has a visit of their own scheduled for May 4 one day before he announces his commitment But this is where Georgia and Bobo begin to flex their recruiting muscles Georgia apparently wasn’t a fan of the Ducks getting the final visit with Curtis before he commits so Bobo will reportedly visit Curtis May 4 as well If that doesn’t show how badly Georgia wants Curtis then nothing will Time will tell if this final push is enough for Georgia to end up on top in Curtis’s recruitment but this is just another reason to be very excited about their chances While no official prediction has been logged yet On3’s Steve Wiltfong is leaning in favor of Georgia right now Steve Wiltfong of ON3 still feels good about #Georgia’s chances to land 5-star QB Jared Curtis with a week to go. 🐶👀Jared Curtis will announce his commitment between Georgia and Oregon on May 5th. 🔥 pic.twitter.com/gVIogjxQOn Be sure to pay close attention late Monday afternoon because that is when the world will find out if Georgia is bringing in the top ranked quarterback in the country in the 2026 class But there are a lot of reasons for Georgia fans to be hopeful as his commitment date approaches, with proximity to his home in Tennessee being one of the biggest. He had “very strong feelings,” he said, particularly about Bears Ears, which is located in the House district he previously represented. “I’m very familiar with it. I’ve worked with all of the tribes,” he said. “I’m absolutely convinced there is a legislative answer that would bring certainty to all sides of this.” Pressed on whether he supports the president’s efforts, Curtis said, “I haven’t been opposed on it,” but added that he would like to present his own approach to administration officials, and that he has discussed the possibility of a legislative approach with U.S. Sen. Mike Lee and Gov. Spencer Cox. for “Yesterday” in London on June 18 “I’ve been excited by their existence for 50 years,” he said but it’s not work for which one expects praise or needs praise I have always found that if you create a sort of venue for generosity the public reaction is so often astonishing I would have had to be a monster not to continue with it CURTIS: We have a younger generation that is very passionate about issues of gender and diversity and climate There’s a more sophisticated understanding of how you solve problems and change things A lot of it is about giving power to people on the ground it’s important to go on pointing out how much difference a small amount of money can make abroad and at home I can’t but sort of think it’s almost a lucky break “I like your films because they’ve got man jokes in them.” I think he was saying that the sentiment is repeatedly either undercut or reinforced by jokes that you don’t quite expect There must be something in that combination that makes feel people feel comfortable with the heart of it He had to work harder in my movies when he was pretending to be nice There were 10 years there where no one took any risks with Hugh And it’s lovely now that people are casting him in very different roles I hope he does one or two movies more in line with what we used to do But I’m loving his current tendency to kill people The Last of Us Season 2 hits us hard with the Easter eggs in the very first episode and one of them is a particularly moving mention when Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Dina (Isabela Merced) are getting ready for their afternoon patrol Dina remarks on Ellie's heavily armed get-up "Look at you with all that hardware; you look like Curtis and Viper," she says Jesse (Young Mazino) makes a similar comment about "Ellie over here looking all Curtis and Viper." But what exactly is Curtis and Viper in The Last of Us and where have you seen it referenced before Curtis and Viper is a fictional '80s action series in The Last of Us games and TV series They're indeed movies Joel loves — in fact he used to watch them with his daughter Sarah (Nico Parker) The franchise appears in the HBO series in Season 1 right before the outbreak of the Cordyceps pandemic in 2013 Sarah borrowed her neighbours' DVD copy of Curtis and Viper 2 for her father's 36th birthday Curtis and Viper comes up in The Last of Us Part II in a scene where Ellie describes the movies to Dina when they're on their Alpine patrol She says she's thinking of inviting Joel to watch one together as a peace offering then goes on to describe the plot of Curtis and Viper 2 so two former commandos that go rogue to fight bad guys And I think in this one they go up against Russian spies or something," Ellie explains he's a trained ninja — and he's a complete badass." how old is he in the first movie?" asks Dina Ellie also finds a poster for Curtis and Viper 4 in The Last of Us Part II which prompts her to say aloud extremely niche node to both the first season of the show and the games and a reminder that nothing in this show is a throwaway reference Watching The Last of Us and want to play the games? Here's how. he hadn’t lived in this house for nearly a year everything about it changes,” Curtis says which is proving to be no minor task.  as a rancher’s son growing up in its shadow He purchased it in 1986 from the Archer City Country Club with the sole intent of filling it with books Now it’s up to Curtis and James to sift through the remains and decide what All the important stuff is long gone. The vault that once housed manuscripts for Lonesome Dove and The Last Picture Show hangs open its contents already whisked away to auctions and archives throughout Texas Curtis tells me about the objects that once occupied them next to a stuffed buffalo that eventually lost its fur to mites Nearby was a wall of “dumb Italian warrior-women movies” on VHS that Larry bought from a catalog (but never actually watched) Out back he shows me the former servants’ quarters that Larry converted into a repository for French pornographic novels Now it’s home to the golf balls that crash in from the course next door leaving holes in the windows that the vines have twisted through It’s an image that would fit right in on Curtis’s latest record, The Pollen & the Rot it’s the first in a planned four-album series themed around the seasons A few weeks before our trip to Archer City Curtis played a release show for Pollen at the Austin coffeehouse Captain Quack’s where he explained its concept to a bemused audience that included his dad “I feel like a lot of people are like a time of happiness and rebirth and new hope,’ ” he said with a mischievoussmile I think of bears coming out of hibernation but also the plants are choking each other a woman sitting near James’s table leaned in “Who raised this kid?” she called out “I would never pretend that I started from the bottom,” Curtis says He knows his last name is probably the only reason anyone will read this article It’s one of the most famous in Texas and people often come to his shows solely because they recognize it “Sometimes they’re thrilled with what they hear,” he says “Other times not as much.”  Curtis considers his dad one of the greatest songwriters of all time. He likewise admires his grandfather’s books, although he prefers the ones about “city people,” such as Terms of Endearment which he describes as “spite pop” and “apocalyptic indie-folk,” is wildly different from either man’s art—more avant-garde and exotic.  filled with florid language heavily influenced by Greek mythology and comic books The songs on Pollen teem with locusts and devils “I have compared my music to black licorice,” Curtis says “Most people are not going to be into it but some people are going to like it a whole lot.”  Curtis alternates between guitar and banjo while backed by his wife and musical partner 1920s-era kit round out a sound that’s a far cry from James’s terse folk-rock It tends to confuse Lonesome Dove admirers “ ‘I’m a huge fan of your dad and your grandfather Being Larry McMurtry’s son never hurt James “I didn’t face any disadvantages because I work in a different medium than my father,” he says “It provided me with some name recognition and probably did more good than harm both of us working in music probably has been a hindrance because a lot of promoters will look at him like he’s ‘Little James.’ Which he’s not.” Curtis is Jewish on his mother’s side (albeit nonpracticing) as well as bisexual (practicing) have left him feeling alienated from many of his deeply conservative Christian relatives in North Texas who “do not much care for me or my music.” And it’s made him wary of the Lonesome Dove diehards he’s met who seem to have taken all the wrong lessons from his granddad’s book “I’ve had a large number of people say something like ‘That’s a novel about when men were men,’ ” Curtis says of the types of fans who sent Larry the many toy horses and photos of bull riders that still occupy his former home.  owlish eyebrows (which he offsets with a diamond nose piercing) he can be as stubbornly old-fashioned as his grandfather While most of his musician friends are focused on releasing singles Curtis conceives of songs in terms of albums He filters out the dross across multiple drafts until the surviving lyrics beget songs a process he compares with distilling whiskey “I want to have more good stuff than I’ll ever be able to use,” he says of his daily discipline “I don’t want to run out and be staring at a blank page in my fifties.” But perhaps the thing that Curtis and Larry have most in common is the burden of other people’s misconceptions The McMurtry name has become synonymous with a certain romanticized ruggedly masculine ideal of Texas—one that Larry tried to dismantle only to end up redefining it This often leads Curtis to getting booked at venues that typically draw a rootsy Americana crowd rather than one that would appreciate his genre-defying sound “I’m not gonna fill a room where this cowboy cosplay thing happened the night before,” he says Curtis believes that his grandfather wasn’t particularly well-liked here he never met anyone that Larry introduced as a local friend He seemed to spend a lot of his time  isolated and lonely “I cannot imagine what it would have been like for him to grow up here and feel so weird.” surrounded by other musicians and their weird kids following in the footsteps of her neuroscientist father His English teachers expected him to be an exceptional writer like his grandfather “I thought he’d probably be a lawyer because he loved to argue,” James says “He had a great sense of social justice so I’m not going to get in his way.”  Those polemic tendencies haven’t faded “He is so passionate about things that he loves and so passionate about things that he hates,” Burgess says Curtis’s relationship with Texas is as conflicted as his grandfather’s; he feels at home beneath its sky but Over the past year he and Burgess have attended going-away parties for friends escaping the state’s laws on reproductive and transgender rights which often leaves them feeling as though they are “Texan with an asterisk,” Curtis says like a “foreign enemy” in their own state “But it’s still home,” Burgess adds Curtis channels his frustrations into music that explores the tensions between Texas’s past and its future—similar to the ones that his grandfather was writing about sixty years ago. Like the protagonists of The Last Picture Show or Horseman, Pass By his characters are often bitter and despairing yearning to break free from rules and traditions Curtis urges a revolt against the “heroes of the past holding us back,” who keep the next generation from achieving its fullest bloom: “Everything that we could be / Everything you’re not / The potential for potential / The pollen and the rot.”  it’s easy to sense some of his own defiance in them despite never playing music himself.) A stack of old photos that Curtis thought could make for an interesting art project the house will be sold to the owner of the nearby Spur Hotel “I don’t have any feelings for that house whatsoever,” he says “It’s not an ancestral home.” Curtis and James are Larry’s only direct descendants, and Curtis knows that most assume that they will inherit a small fortune. But Larry’s estate is a “sticky mess,” he says He accepted flat fees for most of the movie adaptations of his work he also sold off the rights to many of his individual characters Untangling his intellectual property would require months of work by expensive lawyers “We could make some money,” James says “But it wasn’t just left to us.” then handpicked some of its inventory to fill the library of their Hotel 1928 A friend who works for them recently sent Curtis pictures of tourists taking selfies with his grandfather’s books because it’s just for decoration,” he sighs “No one’s going to read them.” Curtis worries that music is headed along a similar trajectory—that more people are listening to algorithmically shuffled playlists than the kinds of novelistic albums he creates The Pollen & the Rot has sold just under three hundred copies nearly a year after its release Curtis gives the audience a well-rehearsed spiel about how buying one CD for $10 is the equivalent of streaming the album 3,760 times “Starting your career post-Spotify,” Curtis says “it almost feels like it isn’t the same profession.” He pays the rent by playing what he calls “background music” gigs at breweries and distilleries where there are always “lots of Teslas in the parking lot lots of bachelorette parties where everyone’s wearing pink cowboy hats,” and he often has to compete with the margarita machine When I suggest that these shows must be good for exposure “Exposure is a cause of death.”  Like the young Texans in Larry’s novels who found themselves yoked to struggling ranches and dried-up oil fields Curtis has taken over an endangered family business The arts may be different from those agrarian institutions his grandfather wrote about but the threats they face are similar: disruptive new technologies just as it was for his father and grandfather nothing’s as good as really feeling like I ironed out a song: It’s strong I can sing it for years,” he says.  Curtis leads me upstairs into Larry’s rarely used office He wants to show me the window that his grandfather had gazed up at as a young man toiling unhappily on his family’s ranch which still lies faintly visible beyond the tree line Back then the house had belonged to the oilman Will Taylor and in the mornings Larry would look across the hayfield and see the light burning inside He’d always dreamed of buying this house and filling it with books escaping his small-town Texas into the larger world of literature “He got to have it,” Curtis says “But we don’t have to keep it.”   This article originally appeared in the February 2025 issue of Texas Monthly with the headline “Curtis McMurtry Is Moving On.” Subscribe today The South Carolina Senate met on April 21 to determine whether State Treasurer Curtis Loftis will be removed from office The hearing centered on a $1.8 billion accounting error for which some lawmakers think Loftis was negligent it would be the first time since Reconstruction for such a move against a constitutional state officer He is currently in his fourth term and has declared that he will seek reelection "When you have an affirmative duty to report a problem and you refuse to report it said there was "no evidence of a coverup by Loftis or his staff." He criticized Goldfinch for labeling Loftis "a liar." Loftis spoke last week at the Greenville County Republican Party convention to a mostly supportive audience In a question-and-answer session before his speech And I don’t work for them – I work for the taxpayers.” “There’s nothing more important to me than making sure the state’s money is safe.” Thirty-four Republicans control the 46-member state Senate Goldfinch said the Senate was doing its job in investigating Loftis and considering his removal from office lawmakers first laid out their case against Loftis followed by questions from individual senators The process would need to move to the House where two-thirds of members must vote against Loftis to remove him from office passed away peacefully at Colony Court (Foxdale) Memory Care in Waseca 1941 to Vernon and Lorraine (Cummins) Carlson Waseca Central High School and graduated from the Southern School of Agriculture in 1959 Following he joined the Army National Guard and later attended Mankato State University where he met the love of his life they purchased and moved to live on the farm that was established in 1872 by Curt’s grandfather O.M Curt’s passion was raising and showing Morgan horses that carried the bloodline of grandfather O.M.’s Morgans Curt’s pride and joy was building his small cow-calf operation into a rotational grazing system He had an observable kindness and compassion when he worked with the animals He was like the “pied piper.” They recognized his voice and his “grungy” clothes down to earth type of guy—loved to talk and always had a rather infectious smile was a bit of a prankster and tease with a twinkle in his eye He often did the “Minnesota Goodbye.” If you came to visit or help with farm work and Curt was the cook for lunch it would be a concoction of Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup with whatever was found in the refrigerator to mix in He especially adored his grandchildren (grand- and great-) he was a Boilermaker in Local 647 out of Minnesota He would be called for repairs at oil refineries One job that stands out was being a part of the team to lower the golden horses from the top of Minnesota State Capital for repair Curt was a life-long member of North Waseca Lutheran Church that sits on top of a hill in the country trustee and ready to serve wherever and whenever there was a need Curt is survived by his devoted wife Gladys of over 60 years; their children Sara Lewer Verna (Barry) Sather; along with many nieces A special thank you to cousin Cindy Jewison Kya Haala of Pathstone Memory Care and Ecumen Hospice for care and assistance provided 2025 from 4-7 PM at the Third Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca 2025 at 2:00 PM at North Waseca Lutheran Church with Pastor Sarah Krolak officiating Private family burial will be at the North Waseca Lutheran Cemetery In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to North Waseca Lutheran Church Mayo Clinic Alzheimer’s Research or donor’s choice Third Street - Dennis Steffel Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service
