New Yorkers in show business and the arts have gathered in social clubs to converse
1904 was the founding of the Friars Club by Broadway folks
and a year later the Dutch Treat Club was established by a group of publishers and writers
We don’t have the Friars Club anymore but the Dutch Treat club continues the tradition of camaraderie
It is a wonderful organization that offers its members and their guests entertaining “learn and lunch” type afternoons where musical guest artists perform and interesting speakers give informational talks to the club membership. The club holds these events in a historic building known as the Women’s National Republican Club founded in 1910 located on 51st street right off of Rockefeller Center
but not to worry: politics are nowhere near the agenda at these delightful afternoons
the dynamic cabaret performers known for their compelling performances and impeccable musicianship

a resident of Palatine for 50 years passed away peacefully on Tuesday
She was deeply proud of her Irish heritage
During an era when young women were expected to marry after high school Kay was determined to see the world
She set her sights on a career as a flight attendant and began working for Mohawk airlines in 1959
Her career would change her life in more ways than one
On a routine flight from New York to Chicago
a business traveler from Chicago who would become the love of her life
Their serendipitous meeting in the skies led to a beautiful marriage of 39 years and three beautiful daughters

When Sal Fasano got a call this offseason from Los Angeles Angels general manager Perry Minasian
Fasano had just been fired from the job that Minasian first established for him with the Atlanta Braves seven years ago
I want to make a job for you,’” the longtime big-league catcher and coach recalled recently
“‘I want you to work with the catchers … but you’re going to help with the pitching and do all the game plan stuff.’”
Fasano’s title with the Angels will be assistant pitching coach; the team will have a pitching coach
Minasian hopes that a connection dating back to their days in the Toronto Blue Jays organization can boost a pitching staff in desperate need of improvement
“He’s outstanding with arms and with pitching in general,” Minasian said
“I can go on and on about really quality pitching coaches that were at the catcher position
Fasano — who won a World Series with the Angels for playing two games in 2002 — will be something of a jack-of-all-trades on the team’s coaching staff more than two decades later
He’ll work closely with head of game planning Alex Cultice
in the context of how they work with pitchers
And he’ll also be front-facing with the pitchers themselves
Fasano said he expects to communicate with catchers and pitchers in-game
and work directly with the team’s analytics department
it’s also not unprecedented for catchers to become pitching coaches
The most notable example is the legendary Dave Duncan
who was a pitching coach for three World Series champions and four Cy Young award winners
also spent his playing days behind the plate
“The one thing with never pitching is it’s a double-edged sword,” Fasano said
I’ve seen a lot of guys pitch the way you do.”
The Angels were not an effective pitching team in 2024, by almost every measure. They ranked 26th in ERA (4.56). They were 29th in walks (601), ahead of only the historically awful Chicago White Sox
And they were 28th in home runs allowed (202)
First-year pitching coach Barry Enright’s work was highly regarded throughout the season, but the pitchers struggled and were unable to execute a plan to improve in 0-0 and 1-1 counts. As a whole, the Angels are refining their strategies. And part of that is adding people like Fasano, and backup catcher Travis d’Arnaud
who both worked with a Braves pitching staff that was among the best in baseball last year
“It just didn’t get accomplished,” Enright said of his own team’s strike-throwing last year
“So I’m welcoming guys coming in to help me re-message
Help me be able to apply our strengths a little bit better into our game plan.”
Both Enright and Fasano acknowledged that it can be difficult for pitchers to focus on generating swing-and-miss
while also preaching strike-throwing early in the counts
That can lead to pitchers attempting to become “too fine.”
Fasano said he hopes to help simplify things for pitchers and take some of the pressure off their batterymates
he wants to create more individualized messages and strategies for each pitcher
He hopes to bridge the gap between the mound work
Enright also felt that pitchers were chasing swing-and-miss more
and never established the command that necessitates generating swing-and-miss
“It’s just getting those guys to get into an attack mode
getting the catchers not to be paranoid of
I’ve got to be careful of it,’” Fasano said
“And getting those guys to understand how to get to the soft zones of the hitters
still within the strengths of our pitchers.”
the Angels completely revamped their pitching strategies
The team found a new pitching coach and replaced many of its pitching experts on the player development side
choosing to focus on what they’ve deemed is a more holistic approach rather than strictly on analytics
Earlier this offseason, former assistant pitching coach Bill Hezel left the organization to be the Marlins’ director of pitching
per a league source — the last bastion of the old pitching regime departing
The team hopes that a continuity of their message
combined with some refining and the addition of Fasano can create a culture on the mound that far exceeds its very bad 2024 campaign
delegate some of these areas — I think Sal will do a heck of a job sprinkling his personality and experience in every one of these areas,” Enright said

WEYMOUTH -- After a misfire on Sunday (a loss to Tewksbury in the Ed Burns Tournament), the members of the Braintree High boys hockey team finally got to stage their surprise party for coach Dave Fasano on Thursday night
Thanks to two goals from Sean Canavan and the latest in a long line of solid defensive performances this winter
at Connell Rink for Fasano's 300th career victory
there were gifts -- a banner that the players unveiled on the ice postgame and then a commemorative blue Braintree jersey with "300" on the front and back where a player's usual number would go
Fasano was presented with the jersey -- and a celebratory ice-water bath -- in the locker room
It was 19 degrees outside when the Wamps finally pulled out of the parking lot
so the coach was frantically drying off with a towel while being interviewed
the win right now is more important (than the milestone)," said Fasano
"It's huge for us in terms of building confidence
But that means I've had a lot of really good hockey players and a lot of good assistant coaches
they knew and they gave it a little extra tonight

"It meant everything for us," senior goaltender Amir Cullinane said of the victory
"We came into the game knowing that we needed a win
And obviously getting that 300th win for Coach is really special to him and to us as well."
Said Weymouth coach Pat Kennedy: "I like Dave a lot
I told our guys to make sure to grab the puck (after the final whistle) and give it to him
He's been doing it a long time and he's been doing it the right way for a long time
but I wish that he had done it last week."
Braintree had scored two or fewer goals in seven straight games coming in
linemate Devin Lucas and defenseman Joe DiMartino found the net in this one for the Wamps' biggest offensive output since a 5-2 victory over Framingham on Jan
"The last few days in practice we've just been working on getting pucks to the net," Fasano said
"Sometimes we pass up a shot for that extra pass or that extra little fake and (taking) that extra second at this level doesn't translate

Weymouth lost for the first time since Christmas Eve (a 5-2 defeat by Hingham)
The Wildcats hadn't allowed more than three goals in a game during their hot streak and had showcased a deep
Alex Stockton had a team-best 10 goals during the unbeaten run
Ryan Ferguson (7) and Ryan MacDonald (7) had peppered the net as well
pulling Weymouth within 3-2 with 7:41 left in regulation
but the Wildcats couldn't anything else past Cullinane
who came in with a 1.50 goals-against average this season
Nevin Roche had Weymouth's first goal for a 1-1 tie early in the second period
"He's been doing that all year for us," Fasano raved of Cullinane
"He's been keeping us in the games; it's just a matter of us scoring
He always seems to be in the right position in the net
Weymouth won't have long to dwell on the end of its streak
The Wildcats have to double up this weekend
visiting Milton (7-4-6) in a Bay State Conference game on Saturday at 6 p.m
and then doing a quick turnaround to face Canton (15-1-1) on Sunday at 11 a.m
at Tsongas Center in Lowell for the championship game of the Ed Burns Tournament (Brinn Division)
"This team moves on pretty well," Kennedy said
"They can come in tomorrow and they turn the page
They know that we had a good heater (with the unbeaten streak)
the Wamps hope to use this milestone win as a launching pad for the final four games of the regular season
Fasano's club has beaten Pope Francis (15-2)
swept Weymouth and tied Reading (10-3-4) but has stumbled against some lesser opponents
"We seem to play better against good teams
"We have four games to go before the tournament
I just hope that these kids realize that we're a good team when we play our style of hockey."
"I don't think anyone's going to be too excited to see us in the first round."

It’s been well past a decade since Connecticut had a Republican governor or U.S
It’s been around three decades since Republicans in this state held a U.S
Senate seat or a majority in either chamber of The Connecticut General Assembly
says Connecticut Republicans need to make some changes
One of the major things Fasano would like to fix is the way the Connecticut GOP gets the message out about its true policies and ideals
“I think we have allowed others to define us
as opposed to us defining ourselves,” Fasano said
the “other people” he was most often referring to were members of the media
and they're racist,’ and that’s further from the truth,” Fasano said
He believes media misrepresentation has perpetuated an inaccurate narrative
particularly regarding the party’s stance toward urban areas and racial diversity
While Fasano did not expressly mention what any of the GOP’s stances are, the CT GOP website links to the national party platform that focuses on limiting government mandates
parental rights (particularly in regard to schools and schooling)
promoting a business friendly environment and making goods
“I think our messaging is rock solid," he said
"We just let other people tell us what we’re saying
The Republican party’s future success hinges on incorporating Trump’s strategy of countering media narratives
“The doors that Trump opened [include]: ‘Don’t be afraid to take on the press,’” Fasano said
Trump’s approach to speaking directly to voters
will be a legacy that the Connecticut GOP could benefit from by adopting a similar stance in how they interact with the press
Reaching out to Connecticut’s urban centers
Fasano said the CT GOP’s perception problem has created a divide between urban voters
whom he said would benefit from Republican policies
who feel an inability to gain traction in Connecticut’s cities
But demographic trends would seem to indicate not trying to connect with urban voters
would be harmful to the CT GOP’s chances of ever winning significantly more elections
Fasano acknowledged the realities of both these demographic trends in the struggle for the GOP to more directly and effectively engage with communities of color
“Republicans have done a very bad job at reaching out to minorities in the state of Connecticut,” he said
In a state where Democratic Party dominance has become the norm in cities like New Haven and Bridgeport
Fasano stressed that the GOP’s goal should not simply be to win these urban areas
You’re looking to bring your ideas,” Fasano explained
“Our platform needs to be adjusted to recognize that our policies make a difference in the urban towns.”
Fasano talked about a belief he has held throughout his political career
“The strength of our state depends upon the strength of our cities … and the strength of our cities are based upon young kids aspiring,” he said
Fasano emphasized that the GOP must adjust both its platform and outreach to prove the party’s policies can benefit these urban areas
Fasano said one local Republican politician who has set a good example is New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart
“Erin is very smart as a politician,” he said
“She understands that you can take the Republican mentality to New Britain
demonstrate how it’s going to help people … and that’s why she’s reelected.”
which Fasano said incorporates traditional Republican policies while tailoring them to New Britain’s challenges
for GOP growth in Connecticut’s urban centers
is precisely the type of strategy the party needs to connect with communities that are typically Democratic strongholds
“What Erin is able to do is take our policies
maybe adjust them as you bring them into a community
Stewart’s ability to frame Republican policies in a way that resonates locally
positions her as a credible gubernatorial candidate in 2026
Fasano outlined his nightmare scenario for the 2024 election
“If we lose [state] Senate seats … that would give me trouble
and that would speak to us taking an inward look at changes we [the GOP] have to make going forward.”

Eric Comstock and Barbara Fasano have created something truly special with their new album
Celebrating two decades of marriage and a deep love of their hometown New York City
this record—their first together—is a captivating blend of pre-war cabaret
and pop that evokes a nostalgic yet fresh atmosphere
listeners are enveloped in the undeniable chemistry that the multi award-winning Comstock and Fasano share
highlighting their individual artistry while also showcasing the deep bond they’ve developed over years of collaboration and wedded bliss
Comstock’s melodic and jazz-inspired piano playing and vocals pair seamlessly with Fasano’s enchanting Broadway approach
creating a rich soundscape that draws you into every track
The addition of Sean Smith on bass and Vito Lesczak on drums provides a solid rhythmic backbone
You can tell this group has worked together for some time honing their musical interaction in live settings like Birdland
One of the highlights of the album is their interpretation of Cole Porter’s “Just One of Those Things.” This classic not only lends its title to the album but captures the essence of their journey
with its clever lyrics reflecting the complexities of love
Another standout track is the poignant “Marcie” by Joni Mitchell
The duo displays their remarkable ability to breathe new life into familiar pop songs
infusing them with fresh emotion and insight with Fasano on vocals and Comstock at the piano
The album is further enriched by the legendary tenor saxophonist Houston Person
whose soulful contributions add an irresistible depth
His improvisational skills are an exciting treat
making each track he’s on a wonderful experience—just listen to Person’s fun fills on Jim Lowes’ wry tune “The Hamptons.”
Painting the Town pays tribute to the great and ever-evolving American songbook
featuring the works of celebrated composers such as Irving Berlin
Simon himself provided feedback during the recording of his song “Old Friends,” a testament to the authenticity and quality of Comstock and Fasano’s work
They were awestruck as he spent nearly an hour coaching them on phrasing
and instrumentation—guitar in hand—and even offered an altered lyric for them to record
In a music landscape that can often feel disjointed
Comstock and Fasano exemplify the beauty of partnership and the magic that unfolds when two artists create together
Painting the Town invites listeners to embrace love
This album is essential listening for aficionados of cabaret
marking a milestone in their artistic evolution
The record also captures the essence of a bygone era
where the glamour and elegance of New York nightlife comes alive
returning listeners to a time when sophistication and fun danced hand in hand on the city’s vibrant streets

Room service is also delicious—order one of the pastas and a bottle of wine (or buy one at the shop on site).
Can you tell us about the other guests? It's a well-heeled crowd, mostly fashionable Brazilians from Rio or São Paulo, with some expats thrown into the mix. The hotel is also well-suited for large groups; during our stay there was a wedding as well as a business retreat of some kind.
What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel fit in, make itself part of the scene? The resort is its own self-contained universe. You won't want to leave the property, save for your boat tour to the neighboring islands.
Is there anything you would've done differently? I didn't make it to nearby Ilha Grande, which is supposed to be spectacular. That would have required an all-day excursion.
Tell us what we missed! Something cool about turndown service, or being especially wellness-friendly; anything that stuck with you. The hotel features two outdoor pools—one adults-only, one for families. Both were divine, though the family pool was larger and more swimmable. (That said, children were few and far between.) Definitely visit the spa, either for a treatment or a dip in the Instagrammable indoor pool and plunge bath. A sweat in the sauna and steam room is also a must.
Bottom line: Worth it? Why? It's the perfect place to unwind after a hectic stay in Rio, from which the hotel offers easy transfer by car.
RESTON, Va., Feb. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) is promoting Jason Albanese to corporate executive vice president and chief growth officer effective March 3
succeeding Gerry Fasano who will retire as planned on April 4

Albanese will be central to implementing the company's new NorthStar 2030 strategy

and Leidos differentiation is evident and accelerating."

an indication of strong demand for Leidos solutions.
Albanese joined Leidos in 2017 following the merger with Lockheed Martin's Information Systems and Global Solutions organization
Initially he led strategy and business development for the company's defense group
then held similar responsibilities for the health and intelligence businesses before assuming his role in the National Security sector last year

In addition to the physical toll -- hours of squatting behind the plate
having cat-like reflexes to block balls in the dirt
and the bumps and bruises from foul tips -- one has to navigate the pitching staff as well as contribute on offense
the Angels have two very good ones on their roster
Being a catcher is one of the most demanding jobs in all of professional sports
Being that the catcher position is the most unique defensive assignment
and players playing that role have to be part coach and part therapist in order to get the best out of their colleagues on the mound
That's why the Angels' radically outside the box assistant pitching coach
will lead one of the league's best catching duos in a quest to unlock the best in an Angels' pitching staff that features up-and-coming young arms and wily veterans alike
has already established himself as one of the best offensive catchers in the game
His 101 wRC+ ranked 13th in the league among catchers who logged at least 400 plate appearances in 2024
an admittedly small list given the physical demands of the position
Joining him behind the dish is Travis d'Arnaud, another former Atlanta Braves' import
who along with Fasano will help the young O'Hoppe unlock the mental strategy involved in calling a game and managing a pitching staff to maximize the hurlers' abilities
While Barry Enright is the pitching coach and will have plenty of direct communication with the pitching staff
We often think about pitching from the mound first
the pre-game strategizing is done with heavy collaboration and input from the catchers who are the ones putting down the signs and leading the charge in how pitchers are approaching hitters
sharpening that focus and translating the analytics into game planning first with the catchers who are calling the game -- and who have an outsized impact on the pitch selection of younger
inexperienced arms -- makes tremendous sense
Fasano, with his extensive experience as a catcher
and working with pitchers dating all the way back to his role in the Toronto Blue Jays minor league system where he crossed paths with Angels general manager Perry Minasian
brings a valuable perspective that's not often considered when running a pitching staff
the guy with the best view of a pitcher's stuff and what is and isn't working on any given day
isn't the guy on the mound or a coach in the dugout
it's the guy catching every pitch and watching every swing the opposition takes
Amplifying the catchers' role in managing the pitching staff and providing real-time feedback to the hurlers on the mound makes so much sense that you have to wonder why more teams haven't employed more former catchers on their pitching coaching staffs
With so many young arms on the staff or soon to find roles on the big league roster
having this fresh perspective that emphasizes stuff
real-time adjustments based on what is and not working on a particular day
and the veteran leadership that d'Arnaud can provide to O'Hoppe and the pitchers to further Fasano's vision
the Angels are set up for a transformative year
For a team that has struggled dramatically to develop young arms over the years
Fasano and this new approach might finally be the turning point for the Angels to start turning pitching potential into pitching performance that can be the envy of the league

The Angels are working backwards to bring their pitching staff to new heights in 2025
Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) has implemented changes throughout its internal programs and growth offices as the company aims to continue developing “mission-critical software” while collaborating with key industry partners
“Tom came in a little over a year ago
we’re not going to do anything for the first three months
I’m going to watch and I’m going to analyze.’ He was true to his word
he got the leadership team together and said
‘I think we can unlock more value out of our organization with a realignment,’” Fasano stated
Fasano spoke about Leidos’ five sectors — health and civil, led by Liz Porter; national security, led by Roy Stevens; commercial and international, led by Vicki Schmanske; digital modernization, led by Steve Hull; and defense systems, led by Cindy Gruensfelder — that were unveiled in November 2023 and became effective in January 2024
“But now you need someone to help you navigate these sectors
which is great to get everything anchored around corporate strategy,” Fasano added
CGO of the commercial and international sector
Fasano called on both officers to speak on the programs they support and how product collaboration has driven mission success
“We formed the Leidos Partnership for Defense Health
and I really want to foot stomp how the success of the program was because of the sum of the parts of the partners
It really was about making that partnership work,” Martin emphasized
“Growth generation for us is really important
really supporting and then information sharing
Fasano also said Leidos has developed over 2,000 qualified opportunities
with around 30 of the programs’ budgets amounting to more than $1 billion

James “Jim” Fasano was a beloved father
Jim left this world after a 7-year battle of cancer and passed on June 27
Jim is a Montclair State University Alumni where he earned All American Honors and was inducted into the MSU hall of fame in 1999
He later continued his career at his alma-mater Bergenfield High School where he coached
and lead students and faculty as the High School Principal for 14 years
BHS received many national accolades for its excellence in education and athletics
This was more than a career for Jim; Bergenfield High School was one of his biggest loves and passions
leading him to coin the phrase “Every day is a great day to be a Bergenfield Bear”

Pitching coaches and coordinators work more with catchers than fans might think

O'Hoppe will get intense lessons from his new backup catcher and assistant pitching coach in how to manage a pitching staff
Fasano could really emphasize the importance of a catcher's glove and how their stuff plays when they really try to drive their pitches through a given target
have really drawn attention to middle-middle catcher targets and letting pitchers with big velo and movement aiming down-the-middle to get into high-leverage counts make competitive pitches
Barry Enright and Fasano are coaches who are the perfect blend of new-school and old-school and will make a great combo

The couple is back at Birdland on 5/5 with songs from their new album
After four solo CDs each and midway through their 20th anniversary year, singer and pianist Eric Comstock and vocalist Barbara Fasano released their first joint CD
the acclaimed married musical couple have painted a portrait of their love for one another
resilient helluva town.” Eric and Barbara launched the CD with a sold-out release concert at Birdland Jazz Club on Sunday
They’ll return there on May 5th with a new set titled Spring Swing
Read a conversation below about the process of putting the new album together
How did your CD release show at Birdland go
Barbara Fasano: It was a thrilling, sold-out night. We had our band from the CD with us - Sean Smith on bass, Vito Lesczak on drums, and the legendary Houston Person on tenor saxophone - and it was one of those nights when an audience is so on board with you that you feel like you’re flying on their energy
What reception have you gotten to your CD so far
Eric Comstock: We’re happy to report that the CD is receiving terrific reviews
we heard from a fan in New Hampshire that a very tough critic on his local alternative paper
What was the process of putting this album together like
BF: It was a very organic process – and then when we were done
we realized that we had painted a picture of our love for one another
You wanted this album to capture the vibe of your live sets at Birdland
What are some of the things you did to achieve that
and we hope folks'll want to play it again immediately
Could you walk us through the recording of one of the tracks on the album – choosing the arrangements
BF: Well, the best story of our record dates was that Katherine Miller, our brilliant engineer, told us when we arrived at the studio that Paul Simon was working in the studio next door
we were going to record his "Old Friends" that very day
Sean and I walked into the communal kitchen
We knew this was the moment - I walked up to the table said
- "but we're about to record one of your songs." He got to his feet
and he even gave us a different lyric to sing
What shows or projects are you working on next?EC: We'll be back at Birdland with Sean and Vito on May 5 - Cinco de Mayo
- with a new set called SPRING SWING.BF: We’ll do some new tunes plus a few favorites from Painting the Town.EC: Also
we're working on a few new concerts: a fun new set called BABS AND ERIC SWING THE SIXTIES
and something else for this summer that we can’t talk about yet.BF: Well
we can say it’s a very Broadway-oriented set
Is there anything else you'd like to add?EC: It’s kind of a cliché now
but we do need music and connection now more than ever.BF: Yep
It’s a haven of sanity during these chaotic and scary times
We’re blessed to be part of a community that celebrates artistic expression and we’re so grateful for the love and support

When Cape Cinema in Dennis closed abruptly in May because of a financial crisis, real estate broker Pete Fasano and his wife, musician Monica Rizzio
thought they might write a check or stage a concert to help
But Fasano’s month of volunteering soon grew to 100-hour work weeks with the Orleans resident using his business acumen to streamline Cape Cinema operations while simultaneously learning the ins and outs of running a theater
On Aug. 13, Cape Cinema’s board of directors announced Fasano had been chosen as executive director of the 311-seat nonprofit arthouse theater
“He is creating a sustainable support system
not just patting you on the back,” said Eric Hart
president of Cape Cinema’s board of directors
“It’s like he’s banking public support ― something I overlooked in starting up this nonprofit.”
How volunteers are changing face of Cape CinemaOne of the more visible changes Fasano has instituted is to replace most paid part-time staff hours with volunteers
but they usually buy tickets because they’re here to support us,” Fasano said
noting that a lot of people wanted to help keep Cape Cinema open but needed a more organized
Fasano and Hart said in separate interviews
take a pulse on what films and events people want to see
“We showed ‘The Wizard of Oz’ for its 85th anniversary and the theater was packed; people showed up in costume,” Fasano said
Cape Cinema directors explain why they chose FasanoA written announcement of Fasano’s appointment pointed out his experience as executive director of the Vinegrass Corporation
a nonprofit music production company he founded in 2013 with his wife; his role as Principal Broker/Owner of New Cape Real Estate; and his service on the finance committee and board of directors for the Cape Cod & Islands Association of Realtors
Vinegrass Music Festival will celebrate its 10th annual gathering Oct
Fasano said he will keep the real estate firm he established in 2017
with most of his work there being managerial
Fasano said he and Rizzio also completed renovations on a circa 1800s building on Cove Road in Orleans (most recently the Francis Francis clothing store)
working with the town to keep its historical feel while turning it into Washashore Music School
The project gave him some historical perspective that will likely help with maintenance
which opened in 1930 and also has a dramatic Rockwell Kent mural painted on the theater’s ceiling
“We have every confidence that he will bring a firm commitment to solidifying the Cape Cinema financially and artistically,” Rick Sigel
No information is being released on Fasano’s salary or how much Cape Cinema received in donations after its month-long emergency closure
Hart said directors are planning a public forum in late September which will
who left during the month-long closure and retained a lawyer
who said no lawsuit has been filed but his client “has no interest in going back.”
“It’s important for me to build the organization so it doesn’t go through that again," Fasano said
"The most important part for me and for the board was to get it going
Cape Cinema reopened June 21 with sell-out crowds for the unlikely heist comedy “Thelma.” Fasano said Cape Cinema will be open year round
daily through the rest of the season and likely with reduced winter hours
Fasano said priorities include working with other tenants on the arts campus ― The Cape Playhouse, Cape Cod Museum of Art and Encore Bistro and Bar ― on things such as shared parking during busy times
Renting Cape Cinema for events is part of the five-year plan being crafted
"Live concerts are a nice way to diversify the programming
Hart said working with the Cape’s other two art house theaters ― Water’s Edge and the Chatham Orpheum ― would also be in the future
Water’s Edge staffers helped with technical issues
the independent theaters shared film releases
said the Cape Cinema job has been a whirlwind
“It’s just been 100 miles an hour since then
I didn’t expect this to be my summer but I wouldn't change it for the world.”

Atlanta will be on the search for two new hitting coaches this offseason after previously stating that the whole staff would be returning
we just got a reminder of how quickly things can change in the baseball business as Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is now reporting that the Braves will
be making changes to their coaching staff for 2025
Bobby Magallanes and Sal Fasano are all set to make their exit
Breaking: The Braves are making changes to their coaching staff
assistant hitting coach Bobby Magallanes and catching coach Sal Fasano will not return in 2025
David O’Brien of The Athletic used the word “fired” in his tweet reporting the news
so that seems to indicate that this may not have been a mutual parting of ways between everybody involved
Atlanta’s offense took a precipitous drop in 2024 when compared to 2023 and while injuries definitely took their toll on this team
seeing the team go from having a (what Alex Anthopoulos described as) historically-good collective slash line of .276/.344/.501 with a team wOBA of .359 and a team wRC+ of 125 to sliding down to .243./.309/.415 with .315 wOBA and a completely average team wRC+ of 100 had to have been jarring for anybody to deal with
whoever does come in to replace Kevin Seitzer will have some big shoes to fill
Seitzer came into the job in 2014 and while he was here
the offense went from being one of the worst in all of baseball to being a top-10 unit for the past few years — up until last season
it’s time to see which direction the Braves go in with their next hitting coach and whatever that coach is planning to bring to the table as far as a collective hitting approach is concerned

PLANTATION
– A 25-year-old woman turned herself in at the Broward County jail on Tuesday to face a felony charge after police said she killed a bicyclist in a hit-and-run crash near her home in Plantation back in 2022
was driving her 2017 Jeep Renegade when she hit the victim
Authorities said even though the man’s body smashed the windshield
Fasano kept on driving; surveillance cameras spotted her at her home on Northwest 111th Avenue about five minutes later
Police said Fasano changed her hairstyle and clothes “in an effort to change her physical appearance” and tried leaving “only 12 minutes after being home.”
after noticing police vehicles in the area “immediately crouched down in an attempt to conceal herself.”
Police said she “then quickly walked back to the front door of the residence” but never entered it
“concealing herself behind a wall” for 84 seconds
after standing there for approximately 51 seconds
Fasano crouched down and peeked around the edge of the wall to look where the police units were at
She then remained behind the wall for approximately another 20 seconds,” police wrote
Fasano appeared to be confused/indecisive on what to do
she was going to walk back into the residence but did not
then she turned around a few times as she did not know what to do.”
Police said Fasano then walked towards her vehicle
The report states that police conducted a show-up with a witness
who said the vehicle parked in front of Fasano’s home was “100%” the same vehicle she saw pass her on Hiatus Road immediately after hearing a loud “boom.”
The witness additionally said that Fasano looked “very much” like the woman driving the SUV
DNA collected under a search warrant matched the victim with DNA found on Fasano’s windshield and placed Fasano as being in the Jeep at the time
Police said cellphone data also placed Fasano in the area of the crash site
The arrest report states that police didn’t suspect any alcohol or drug use as a factor in the crash
remained in the North Broward Bureau jail facility on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving death as of Wednesday morning
