Italy — Tucked away in a picturesque valley in the Italian Alps is the birthplace of most of Europe's small firearms — and Al Pacino's gun in "Scarface."
Surrounded by greenery and — key to its main industry — iron mines
producing 70 percent of the small arms (used for sport and hunting) used in the EU and 40 percent of those used worldwide
the valley's gunmakers sent 395,000 firearms to the United States alone

At the center of it all is the Beretta factory
The company got its start in Gardone Val Trompia in 1526 and still maintains its headquarters there
But around the valley are 139 more gun manufacturers
A full 90 percent of the guns made there are destined for export
of which 45 percent head for the United States and 35 percent are bound for the EU
A steady water supply from the Mella River combined with the ready availability of iron has drawn many to "Firearms Valley" — not just mass production of the Beretta
but craftsmen who replicate vintage guns and small gunmakers that produce no more than 10 rifles a year
At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, 90 percent of the 133 athletes in the shooting events used rifles made in Val Trompia. Photographer Simone Tramonte went on a tour of the region

The local police department of Gardone Val Trompia
A city of 11.200 inhabitants of the Italian region of Lombardy
has deployed a Video Surveillance Solution in Mella Park
A popular green gathering space for residents and nearby communities
to reduce the petty criminal activities that had been taking place in recent months
Until now, This public space only had four cameras, obsolete, that they did not respond to the complaints, so the chief commissioner of the Gardone police, Patrizio Tosoni, He turned to the specialist Suardi Srl to modernize the video surveillance system with Multi-Sensor Devices & Advanced Analytics AI-based i-PRO
"The multi-sensor devices we needed had to be extremely easy to install on relatively tall poles
offer the best resolution available and easily integrate with systems already present in other neighboring municipalities
Needed AI technology to analyze people and vehicles and obtain evidence quickly and clearly
Several multi-sensor cameras of the models have been installed WV-S8574L
that integrate intelligence with deep learning (deep learning)
which provide the local police with valuable assistance in monitoring and investigation activities
Since the park's video surveillance system has been updated
"things have improved significantly after installing the i-PRO cameras," says Tosoni
with a Reduction of 80% of crimes in Mella Park
Like the cameras of the S Series are perfectly integrated into the interface of the video management system Milestone XProtect Professional+
the Gardone Val Trompia Police Department can manage
Centrally analyze and record video footage in real-time from installed devices
Mella Park's i-PRO surveillance system includes apps that provide important information to the police
with video analytics running on the camera itself
The function i-PRO AI video motion detection Generates notifications at night about the presence of people or vehicles in the guarded areas of the park
that alert the operator to potential problems
ensuring a rapid response from law enforcement
Tosoni and his team also take advantage of camera analytics
as the Vehicle Count for traffic analysis purposes
Some devices also provide generic vehicle data (guy
address) to the smart search app i-PRO Active guard
so operators can perform forensic image searches
are already Forty Public Parks in Lombardy that have been equipped by Suardi with i-PRO multi-sensor video surveillance systems commissioned by the municipal administrations
with a total of more than 180 Surveillance Devices Installed: 115 outdoor multi-sensor equipment with AI analytics and 70 high-resolution S-series bullet type

With an event held at its historical headquarters in Gardone val Trompia
Beretta presented the concept of "PB Selection"
The introduction to this new way of understanding the company's image was entrusted to an evocative video that will be followed by others
Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta will celebrate its 500th anniversary
it is the oldest manufacturing company in the world: for as many as 16 generations it has represented the Made-in-Italy and is the driving force behind Gardone Val Trompia
In these five hundred years of history skilled metal-working craftsmen have manufactured products for everyday use
but also rare gems such as those being presented in a new form: the Pietro Beretta Selection
Beretta has been building unique and inimitable pieces of art as only Italian products can be: uncompromising fabrication quality goes hand in hand with the beauty of manual workmanship
A heritage that's been handed down for centuries and generates iconic artifacts appreciated and recognized worldwide
the pinnacle of craftsmanship excellence whose history began in 1526
steel and wood find a new dimension and rise to a rank of unprecedented nobility thanks to the exploration of fine cinematographic art as a narrative driving force
It was an exciting and uncommon challenge to connect people
movements and sounds of metal craftsmanship with the concepts of exclusivity and luxury
Beretta relied on an Italian director who is a master at bringing a story to life: Andrea Marini
For Pietro Beretta Selection he has made two films
the first of which has already been released – you can see it below
"The first thing we wanted to avoid was to shoot an institutional film from the factory," explains Marini
we found a synthesis that would take us inside the world of the PB Selection and therefore inside the world of art and luxury
The film produced is divided into two interlinked acts which are independent in telling the story of Beretta heritage and modernity coexisting.”
A dreamlike state is the key in this work which highlights Beretta's extraordinary heritage and explores the brand's link with the art of hunting through evocative images and symbols
Beretta's roots in the Italian Renaissance are explored
recalled by a sophisticated and elegant atmosphere
with strong historical references always updated by contemporary and visionary choices
The relationship between human and nature is central
in a metaphor that describes human evolution from prey to predator
Beretta's centuries-old approach to craftsmanship and technological innovation is shown in sophisticated visual language
The film focuses on Beretta's technical excellence
enters the world of the brand revealing its exceptional production capacity
and documents the stages of making a luxury firearm by mixing layers of time – past
and future – highlighting the coexistence of tradition and innovation: the essence of Beretta and thus PB Selection
A curiosity: the characters portrayed in the film are not actors
"During my first experiences in the company
suggested that I visit the bespoke manufacturing department
because he believed that that level of craftsmanship would disappear with that last generation of gunsmiths," explains Franco Gussalli Beretta
President and Ceo of Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta
thanks to my father's vision and my brother's and my own commitment
we have been able to maintain and develop within the company the knowledge
skills and mentality to maintain luxury production at the highest level in the industry
integrating and enhancing it with the contribution of research and development and state-of-the-art technology that the Beretta brand embodies
This would not have been possible if in Val Trompia we had not found fertile ground full of many women and men willing to learn the trades of tradition." Regarding the project
It is the synthesis of all the small daily gestures of our most skilled craftsmen and the centuries of experience gained in the field of fine weapons
In this corner of the Val Trompia we see the dreams of so many passionate people come true
who with their ideas allow us to show off our brand's distinctive creativity and craftsmanship
fused with the highest technology applied to the processing and treatment of materials
Each piece – concludes the President – encapsulates our heritage
like a manifesto that has the potential to reach every corner of the world."
The know-how of PB Selection high-end artifacts communicates a clear concept of the world of art and therefore of luxury
"When I see one of our top-of-the-range guns," says Carlo Gussalli Beretta
the company's 16th generation who is actively involved in the company
and in this project we try to make the world understand what I see.”
Communication Manager of Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta and the PB Selection project
"We show a luxury approach that expresses itself through a creative language that is coherent in each of its artifacts," explains Paola Manfrin
"All while maintaining the codes proper to luxury within the artistic and cultural expression of the Renaissance up to our contemporary times.”
shooting shotguns and pistols are unique and customized specimens
through gestures that are passed on through the centuries
Goods that represent an unconventional luxury as they reflect the taste and desires of a single customer
Just like a work of art conceived for a single Maecenas
Five hundred years of perfecting our approach of zero tolerance to assure the perfect fitting of every single firearm
Beretta's industrial experience and constant innovation guarantee the performance at the highest level thanks to the high quality standards and reliability
"Pietro Beretta Selection" is aimed at an audience that understands the value of an art object
but can also appreciate the technology of a state-of-the-art product
stylistic and raw materials are blended in a platform of innovation and technological surpassing and spanning five centuries
The years only enhance the absolute quality of a gun
creating what at Beretta they call Timeless Perfection
Adding further value to the artifact are the cases: precious cases for such masterpieces
whose high craftsmanship – which takes place in an Atelier next to the assembly line of the luxury guns – represents the further distinguishing feature of the PB Selection
The art of hunting is among the oldest existing forms of expression in the world
an activity practiced by mankind since the dawn of its history and that has evolved
codified and celebrated by illustrious writers
were inspired by natural archetypes and expressions of ornamental and symbolic refinement of the Renaissance period
the famous "iron road" that lies at the foot of the Alps north of Brescia
Cutting through it and energizing it yesterday and still today is the incessant flow of the Mella River
is the oldest manufacturing dynasty in the world
The Val Trompia and its people have been a territory bent on a common project for five hundred years
A district of excellence that immediately specialized in something totally innovative and modern and marked its evolution
A dynamic that continues to this day in the exclusive arms of PB Selection
A special version of the 486 side-by-side celebrating the 550th anniversary of the birth of Nicholas Copernicus (Niccolò Copernico
Copernicus not only demonstrated the evidence for the heliocentric system as opposed to the geocentric one
but also initiated a cultural revolution that no longer sees man as the center of the universe
but identifies him as a small piece of a much larger ecosystem
To celebrate the work and cultural impact of Nicholas Copernicus 550 years after his birth
Beretta is dedicating its annual 2023 one-off to heliocentric theory and the observation of the universe with a unique piece based on the famous Beretta 486 Parallelo side-by-side with serpentine-shaped opening lever
unveiled as a world premiere during an event celebrating the luxury of the Pietro Beretta Selection
is a testament to the desire to push the boundaries of innovation and craftsmanship: 800 hours of work by master artisans in Gardone Val Trompia
'The wisdom of nature avoids producing anything superfluous or useless'
like nature we want to act: PB Selection is a luxury that does not create superfluous and useless
A perfect synthesis of this spirit is the 486 Copernico," said Carlo Ferlito
General Manager and CEO at Pietro Beretta S.p.A
The typical round-body receiver and forend iron of the 486 feature a color case hardened finish with hues ranging from blue to green and red
reminiscent of space environment and light trails
Beretta's master engravers have included celestial bodies in this frame: the sun
planets and asteroids take on color thanks to enamels
the engravings also extend to the stock with small stars inlaid in copper and silver to create continuity with the receiver and forend
The connecting lines of the 486's stock and receiver give unsurpassed harmony and elegance to the shotgun's proportions
Also on the receiver's top we find the silver and gold engraving of Niccolo Copernicus' signature
the anniversary years on the trigger guard
which frames a leaf-sprung trigger assembly equipped with a typical Beretta 486 safety: it acts on the trigger and prevents any unintended discharge should the gun be held in unusual positions (fully upside down or pointed upward/downward beyond 90°)
The serpentine-shaped side opening lever has also been modified with a small groove in the center
where a small enameled stone reminiscent of the moon has been added
The English-style stock and forend are black ebony
machined internally to ensure perfect gun balance
and are finished with more than 100 coats of Tru-Oil mixed with a few drops of dark blue dye to give the wood the midnight blue hue that matches the theme of the receiver
The 76-cm Steelium Optimabore HP barrels with Optimachoke HP chokes carry Beretta's 500-year history as a barrel manufacturer with them
cold hammer forging and vacuum distension give the 486 Copernico's barrels excellent pattern performance
the barrels are hand-polished and then blued
The Beretta Triblock system has been designed for Beretta side-by-side shotguns and eliminates the need for prominent weld lines
ensuring superior aesthetics and elegance that reflect the style of the classic
highly prized shotguns with demibloc construction
Lugs and bedding are from a single block of the finest steel
laser-welded to the barrels: the aesthetic appearance is at the level of the best achievements with perfectly seamless barrels thanks to the absence of welding lines
The unquestionable aesthetic value of the uninterrupted barrel's lines also facilitates instinctive aiming
handcrafted in Beretta's prestigious Atelier
completes the masterpiece: blue leather with a digital print of the celestial map drawn by Copernicus
enhanced in the center by a three-dimensional brass plaque depicting the sun
laser made and then hand-finished for greater ray definition
A light sand-colored fabric was chosen for the interior upholstery
"In 2019 the dedication was to Leonardo da Vinci
and in 2022 to the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb," says Franco Gussalli Beretta
president and CEO at Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta S.p.A.
“This year's tribute to a man who spent his life with his eyes on the sky but whose knowledge
which has always been a reference for the world of science and knowledge: in fact
Copernicus graduated in Canon Law from the University of Ferrara in 1503
His discoveries about the heliocentric system taught us that we are not the center of the universe and
but to facilitate the continuous movement of nature
which has been feeding itself for millions of years
Hunting that supports a sustainable resource supply system does the same
and Beretta also does it with BEPlanet projects with the goal of reducing the impact of the company's activities on the environment

has chosen i-PRO multi-sensor security cameras with advanced
AI-based analytics to help keep a popular community park safe for city residents and visitors
is a vibrant meeting place for residents of Gardone and nearby communities
Mella Park saw its share of minor criminal activity
Gardone Police Chief Commissioner Patrizio Tosoni sought to give police officers greater visibility across the park
and improve their response time to any incidents
the few surveillance cameras they had in place didn’t give them the data they needed to make meaningful improvements
“The presence of only four outdated and nearly unusable cameras in the park translated into longer investigations and a less timely response to reports for us,” he said
Working with long-time integration partner Suardi Srl
Tosoni and his department undertook a security modernization project
“The multi-sensor devices we needed had to be extremely easy to install on relatively tall poles
and easily integrate with systems already present in other neighboring municipalities also managed by Commander Tosoni
We also needed artificial intelligence (AI) to enable analysis of people and vehicles for fast and clear evidence gathering
i-PRO cameras were our immediate recommendation
They’re a company with which we have been collaborating for years with a high degree of satisfaction.”
In Mella Park Suardi deployed several i-PRO multi-sensor cameras including model WV-S8574L
The cameras are the most advanced multi-sensor security devices available that also include deep learning intelligence
providing the Gardone Val Trompia police with essential support for monitoring and investigative activities
“Since updating the park’s video surveillance system in May things have significantly improved
just a few months after implementing the i-PRO camera system
we have seen an 80% reduction in crimes within Mella Park
As the i-PRO S-Series cameras integrate seamlessly into the Milestone XProtect Professional+ video management system interface
the Gardone Val Trompia Police Department is able to centrally manage
and record real-time video streams from the installed devices
The cameras also enable post-event searching within seconds

to enable operators to perform forensic image searches
Active Guard manages the camera AI metadata and seamlessly presents it within the department’s Milestone XProtect Professional+ video management system (VMS)
Delivering results and peace of mind through intelligent surveillance
forty public parks across Lombardy have been equipped with multi-sensor video surveillance systems from i-PRO by Suardi on behalf of municipal administrations
More than 180 i-PRO monitoring devices have been installed within 18 months -- 115 outdoor multi-sensor cameras with AI analytics
and approximately 70 high-resolution bullet cameras from the i-PRO S series
“We are very proud and satisfied with this investment in our locality,” said Tosoni
“The system we have installed in Mella Park is visible to all
and the public’s perception has been very positive
Intelligent video surveillance has established a tangible sense of security that is appreciated by residents and citizens.”

The story to "Agenzia Nova" by Franco Gussalli Beretta
The style is defined as "eclectic" and spread over four floors and since 1925
the year in which construction was completed
it has been the home of the Beretta family and
Each member of the family has his own room "which is used when necessary," he says Franco Gussalli Beretta to "Nova Agency” but the building is the beating and administrative heart of the group
In addition there is the Beretta historical museum where among the many things stands out a letter with which
the Doge of Venice thanks the armourer of Gardone Val Trompia
But it is precisely the villa that has a particular
“learned it in my family and I tell it in the same way
It was wanted by my great-grandfather Pietro who had two great passions: the company and architecture
A passion that he cultivated thanks also to his friendship with the architect from Brescia Egidio Dabbeni
the same one who had restructured the Broletto which
A fundamental friendship between Pietro Beretta and Egidio Dabbeni: “my great-grandfather spent his free time with Dabbeni and from these meetings the idea of building the villa was born
But it wasn't just love for architecture” Franco Beretta continued
“there was also that love for the company and for its future which immediately after the First World War distressed his great-grandfather
The fact is that with the end of hostilities
a drop in the production of weapons was foreseeable and therefore Pietro Beretta feared that part of the workers would have to be dismissed
Here is the idea: to employ the excess employees in the construction of the villa”
The exteriors and interiors were all created by the company's workers under the guidance of Pietro Beretta and the architect Dabbeni
But perhaps this was not the only reason that led to the construction of the villa: "in the family - continued Franco Beretta - it is said that my great-grandfather had entered into competition with another successful businessman outside Brescia"
the great-grandfather had learned that this industrialist intended to build a large villa for himself
his family and to make it the headquarters of the company
"Even this competition so far away perhaps convinced the great-grandfather to start the construction of the villa" he specified
the villa has four floors and the facade is enriched by neo-Gothic and neo-Renaissance decorations
The interiors are frescoed and completed by an elegant marble staircase
in the atrium an inscription: Omnia vincit ars labor (art and work conquer all)

writer Nicholas Foulkes and photographer Andy Anderson
tell the story of how the family-owned company built that international reputation from its humble beginnings in iron-rich northern Italy
at Beretta’s headquarters in Gardone Val Trompia
Foulkes and Anderson then traveled the world for two-and-a-half years
chronicling the guns in action—from a driven hunt in Scotland to a dove shoot in Argentina to the sporting clays course at Blackberry Farm in Walland
and then they let us document them however we wanted,” Anderson says
“I spent four or five days in each place getting all the shots I needed.” That freedom triggered a rich array of images
Depictions of adventure stories and sweeping landscapes alternate with up-close shots of vintage weaponry and elaborate engravings to create a portrait of a sporting tradition that’s the next best thing to being in the field yourself
A visit to the factory of the firearms manufacturer Beretta leaves very special and lasting impressions
In addition to the incredibly beautiful location – a villa integrated into the landscape – there are countless weapons of all kinds to see here
Touring the factory feels like traveling back in time from the late 15th century to the ultra-modern and innovative present
It has been a great privilege for me to travel to Brescia
Italy to visit the unique Beretta factory in Gardone Val Trompia
Where the term "factory" is the last thing that comes to mind
with the sight that presents itself already at the entrance – an elegant steel gate that opens onto the Beretta Villa
The entire area is blended with nature and the factory buildings are built into the hilly landscape
This beautiful building has been owned by the Beretta family for 15 generations
with the factory area extending from an initial 10,000 to the current 110,000 square meters
up to 1,500 guns are manufactured in this factory every day – that's about 45,000 a month
Nearly 800 people are employed at the factory
many of whom were actually hired during the Corona Pandemic
Beretta even created its own program for its employees: Beretta BWE
This is intended to reinforce a sense of belonging and well-being in the workplace and keep the work-life balance healthy
The first stop on the tour is past a large picture on the wall showing the small salesroom where the Beretta family once sold their guns
this museum houses the family's own private gun collection
At least 1,000 examples from Beretta's production can be found here
In addition to countless rare and antique pieces
one can find in the museum a few of the rare weapon kits consisting of two weapons each
Complete collections are rarely seen today
Among the guns that impressed me the most was the 92 FS Diamond pistol from 2010
studded with 1193 diamonds set in the frame
slide and white gold grips totaling 90 carats: it is particularly valuable and worth about 360,000 euros today
Also of interest is the gold-plated PM12 submachine gun made for the guards of a Saudi Arabian sultan
Especially fascinating is the "70° Cavaliere" set made by Franco and Pietro Beretta to celebrate their father Ugo's first 70 years
It is a fine handmade wooden cabinet that depicts the factory and contains twin examples of the SO10 EELL luxury shotgun in 20-gauge; both of their stocks are made from the same piece od wood
The company was shaped by many personalities: for example
by the legendary Bartolomeo (1498-1565) or Pietro (1791-1853)
who transformed the craft into an industrial enterprise
expanding it and introducing more modern processing methods
Under the wise leadership of his sons Giuseppe (1906-1993) and Carlo (1908-1984)
the company achieved worldwide fame and recorded outstanding successes in the military and sports fields
But back to my visit to the factory: as the tour continues
we come up more and more often about Beretta's SO10 line – the quintessential classic
When a customer orders one of the luxury line shotguns
he/she can choose almost the complete design of the shotgun himself/herself
the production of the shotgun barrels is completely industrialized to ensure a constant standard of quality
A particularly exciting area is that in which the wood for the stocks of these guns is selected
The most diverse types of wood are available for selection
Displayed and stored in a separate room where humidity and temperature are adjusted
because in between the stock must be processed and polished again
Another interesting part of the tour is the atelier of the gun cases
Here the highly skilled craftsmen design unique gun cases from raw materials such as leather and wood
Colors as well as material can be chosen in full freedom by the customer
Hardly anything is machine-made in Beretta's luxury line of shotguns
the customer can also choose the engraving on the shotgun
A handful of artists work on the beautiful engravings
the face of the spouses or the initials of the future owners
It can take 12-16 months until the entire gun
800/1,000 working hours are estimated to fulfill even the most unusual wishes
Not only is a tour of the factory on the agenda
but it is also possible to try out and shoot selected Beretta guns in the Sala Azzura – the company's own shooting hall
The program at the Beretta factory tour is incredibly exciting and no wish is left unfulfilled
What surprised me the most was how many detailed insights you get as a visitor here
Every step in the production process is described
there is also a laboratory where not only the chemical composition of individual components of the firearms is examined
Another highlight was the espresso with Franco and Carlo Gussalli Beretta in person
This creates a generally familiar and close atmosphere
the tour finds its end in the beautiful garden overlooking the walls of the factory villa
This makes it easy for anyone interested to get a first impression

at Beretta's headquarters in Gardone Val Trompia
a press conference was held on 2022 turnover which
thanks to new products and careful resource management
exceeded the remarkable figure of 310 million euros
This is despite the extremely tough challenges represented by the soaring cost of materials and energy
At a crowded press conference held at the Pietro Beretta Arms Factory headquarters in Gardone Val Trompia
The financial figures were introduced to the press by Franco Gussalli Beretta assisted by his son Carlo and Engineer Carlo Ferlito
General Manager of Pietro Beretta Arms Factory
international crises and the uncontrollable rise in energy costs
it was an extremely positive year for Beretta
The conference opened under the hashtag #300 million
which saw sales exceed the 310 million euro mark
"The goal we had this year," explained Franco Gussalli Beretta
"was to exceed the threshold of 300 million; therefore
we created this hashtag on which to converge all the energies
because on the one hand the most difficult challenges are those of the markets
but having the market demand is not enough
It is critical to make sure that all the new products are launched
that the factory and the suppliers can manufacture them
but this was possible thanks to Engineer Ferlito and his team
who were able to converge all investment and production efforts in this direction."
Franco Gussalli Beretta was quick to point out that the excellent results were the result of major investments both in research and development of new products and in the company's production and energy efficiency
Beretta in fact invested a total of 16 million euros in 2022
9.5 of which were for industrial machinery and 2.5 for digital projects
The BRX1 rifle was received very well by the market and 15,000 pieces were sold
so investment will have to be made to increase the production capacity of this model
Sales then saw a 50 percent increase in France and Germany
where the country's enormous business potential is constrained only by stringent red tape
but Europe has been significantly more important
which had suffered a lot due to the pandemic
also returned to growth with a 30 percent increase
All this was made possible by investments: 16 million in 2022 and 13 million planned for 2022
9.5 million have been invested in industrial machinery while 2.5 million are earmarked for digital markets
Other investments are planned for new products and new infrastructure
that will be distributed by Beretta in the market
Now Beretta becomes the total partner for the hunting world by being able to supply guns
Responding to a question about how Beretta has prepared for the upcoming ban on lead ammo
Franco Gussalli Beretta explained that one of the reasons Beretta invested in the Ammotec group was precisely to acquire the technologies already strongly developed by the company
including specific patents in the field of “green” ammunition
The revenue delta offered by the transaction could be very significant
Carlo Ferlito added that Beretta has long been calling for scientific and not ideological decisions on lead-free ammunition
With Fondazione Una and with activities in Brussels
much is being done to have a correct approach to the issue
with which the company certifies energy and resource savings data each year
To encourage ever-increasing energy savings
which is about ten good practices to reduce energy consumption by 10%
It aims to promote conscious and smart behaviors in energy consumption and respect for the environment by deploying10 little habits that
will allow Beretta to reduce up to 10% annual costs related to energy consumption
The BE Planet concept continues to be a focal point for Beretta
Beretta is preparing to cover up to the last square meter of roof surface with solar panels
making the company one of the greenest in the country
general manager Carlo Ferlito spoke about the concept of sustainability in general terms but also specifically about the Gardone Val Trompia site
illustrating some new and interesting projects
Innovation Board is an advisory body whose goal is to promote and stimulate new initiatives and collaborations in the field of innovation
Digital remains the backbone of innovation with the Industry 4.0 project involving the increase in the use of data with a holistic approach to production but also continuous and constant personnel training
The cornerstones of this project are technology
a great deal of investment is being made in so-called predictive maintenance: all machine tools will soon be equipped with sensors that enable them to communicate necessary maintenance operations at the actual time of need
This enables surgical-type interventions on machinery with great savings in time and production capacity
The goal is to achieve a true virtual industry through which to run production simulations without having to stop the actual machines
Among the various innovations was the creation of a digital engraving shop with fully computer-controlled laser systems that complement traditional engraving methods
This innovation included the purchase of a 5-axis laser
and allows digitization and in-house creation of fast
with the Precision Project the company has renewed its website
with the gun configurator and reserved areas that consolidate the relationship between the company and the end user
also involving gunsmiths in the purchasing process
Ferlito concluded his speech by addressing the issue of cybersecurity related to the production chain
explaining how the company acts daily to resist breakdowns and cyber attacks of all kinds
One of the concepts dear to Beretta's management is employee well-being
a concept put into practice in a simple way: those who work for Beretta should be happy
Carlo Gussalli Beretta then illustrated some very interesting data regarding the company's workforce
Beretta is an increasingly young industry
where 44 percent of employees are millennials
and with a female component that accounts for 30 percent of employees working in the office
In 2022 Beretta hired 72 new employees (63 blue-collars and 9 white-collars) and another 52 provided their services on an interim basis
The Estivini initiative involved 23 young people from local educational institutions who joined the company for summer jobs
A new training academy project was also launched

when the Fabbrica d'Armi Pietro Beretta will cross a milestone reserved for very few in history: five hundred years in business
The earliest document in which Beretta is mentioned concerns the sale of harquebus barrels
and even today the Italian Gardone-based company still devotes great attention to this fundamental part of the firearm with the Steelium technology
The Italian company is already preparing for the jubilee of 2026 by re-proposing content in the various media that illustrates the many aspects of its very long corporate life
The subject of this video is Steelium's proprietary technology for the manufacturing of shotgun and rifle barrels
it should not be forgotten that the earliest document that unequivocally links the name of Beretta from Gardone Val Trompia with the firearms world is an invoice dated October 3
in which the Venice Arsenal paid "296 ducats (to) Mastro Bartolomeo Beretta of the Brescian territory of Gardone for 185 harquebus barrels."
Steelium technology means that every single barrel is made using a tri-alloy steel (Ni
cold hammer forging and vacuum distension to provide smoother ballistics that help reduce recoil and muzzle rise
denser and more uniform patterns with any type of ammunition: lead
But it's not all about material and treatment: the barrel internal profile also plays a crucial role
the 80-mm double forcing cone ensures reliability and optimum performance with all types of ammunition
and semi-automatic hunting shotguns. In Steelium Plus barrels
the triple cone reaches a length of 320 mm (in 76-cm barrels)
ensuring excellent performance in all shooting disciplines
This is a technical solution adopted on the A400 Xtreme Plus semi-automatic hunting shotguns and the 690
the length of the triple forcing cone is further extended to 450 mm (in 76-cm barrels)
This internal profile is specifically designed for extreme performance sporting shotguns: it is no coincidence that Steelium Pro barrels are essential components of the most advanced and successful shooting platform ever
in the video we can see the implementation and ballistics of Beretta's Steelium concept

Terzilio Belladonna was a gunsmith from Perugia
to whom we can trace back a side-by-side shotgun with a strong personality and the long recoil semi-auto shotgun that we are dealing with in these lines
We found one in the Fratelli Poli's shop windows
When you go looking in gun shops sooner or later you'll inevitably find guns we have almost lost the memory of
but that in some cases were innovative products for a more or less short time
or simply were an alternative to brands that have become great classics over the years
During a visit to the Fratelli Poli's gun shop in Gardone Val Trompia
we happened to notice in a window a semi-auto shotgun featuring an elegant yet simple design and we asked permission to handle and photograph it
Here is a brief history of the Belladonna semi-auto shotgun
The Italian gunsmiths are a large group that includes Zanotti
mostly based in Emilia-Romagna but also in other places: Rodolfo Cosmi in Ancona and Terzilio Belladonna
I have certainly forgotten many of them: the Italian school has produced remarkable guns
unlike the first ones who built side-by-sides
over-unders and some special guns – let us remember Cortesi's three-barelled gun – dedicated themselves to semi-autos
The Cosmi's one features original mechanics and is perhaps the only semi-auto shotgun that can aspire to the rank of fine gun
who manufactured side-by-sides with a strong personality that are easy to recognize at first glance
designed a refinement of the Browning action to which he added a taste of Italian beauty that gives the gun a peculiar elegance
It is the same action as used by many industrial and craft manufacturers
The names are well known: immediately after Browning that started the cycle there are Franchi
The reason for using such complex but reliable mechanics is soon said: Browning's patent dates back to 1900 but the project dates back to 1898
Semi-auto guns were in their infancy and they had to be safe
The Mauser C96 was on the market and Georg Luger's fragile creature still had to see the light
You must think that the long recoil was a popular solution
so much so that Frommer used it in 1910 for a gun that fired the weak Frommer 7.65 cartridge
Although it may seem that the large amount of moving masses can adversely affect the stability of the gun on the firing line
it should be considered that the "Browning system" guns were never light: what they sought was sturdiness and durability
It is the most suitable gun for industrial production
It is said to be the most complex shotgun to develop and at the same time the easiest to produce in quantity and at low cost
since old Europe was fond of double-barrelled guns
most of the production was sold in the United States
which were fascinated by the possibility of industrial production
so that already in 1905 Remington agreed with Browning for production under license
Only three years had passed since the introduction of the Auto-5 on the market and not many others had to pass before Winchester changed its mind on semi-autos and circumvented the Mormon's patents
The latter also made it possible to produce the Auto-5 from 1902 to 1998
practically a record for a smooth-bore gun
No shotgun could remain in production for 96 years if it's less than excellent
The first Terzilio Belladonna's prototype dates back to 1939
won a gold medal from the Chamber of Commerce of Perugia in 1957 and was manufactured in about 900 pieces
assembled and finished by hand in the shop located in Via Guardabassi 2
since when Belladonna died the patent was given to the “Germano e Benzoni” company from Bergamo
The total number of guns manufactured by the Bergamo company is uncertain too
Belladonna's shotgun can be recognized at first glance
long recoil semi-auto shotguns always feature a more or less pronounced “hump” on the upper frame
essential to house the backward movement of barrel and bolt
which extends beyond the length of the case to allow ejection and the feeding of a fresh cartridge
The most evident example is Browning's Auto-5
the connection between frame and stock is such that the upper hump passes almost unnoticed
Elegance is indisputable and is underlined by a slender barrel
and by the graceful design of the soldered back sight
The gun is lighter than other steel-framed long recoil semi-autos
the handmade finish is superb and disassembly is easy for maintenance
The safety is at the back of the trigger guard
as introduced by Remington and then also imitated by FN
Another peculiarity of the Belladonna semi-auto is the retractable cocking handle
which strongly characterizes the central assembly of the gun
For those who want to know more about this gun, the 12 gauge Belladonna semi-auto with 65 cm Supervelox barrel in Cogne steel is currently on sale by the Fratelli Poli, www.fpafratellipoli.com
