Ahead of today’s clash between AC Milan and Genoa
He made it clear that a win is needed for the Rossoneri’s continuity
Milan have very small chances of climbing the standings between now and the end of the season
the Coppa Italia final will take place in just over a week and it will be important for the team to keep up the momentum
Speaking to MilanTV ahead of tonight’s clash against Genoa, as transcribed by MilanNews
He also shared some words on what it’s like to play with Luka Jovic
We have a final coming up and we need to be confident and play well
He knows how to control the ball very well and it is a pleasure to play with him,” he stated
While Pulisic is playing from start tonight, the same cannot be said for his opposite man, Rafael Leao. The Portuguese winger is on the bench as Sergio Conceicao has opted for Ruben Loftus-Cheek
meaning it most likely won’t be a classic 3-4-3 tonight

From this league season, both Milan and Genoa no longer have anything to ask for, even though the Luigi Ferraris stadium has dressed up for the occasion to welcome this evening Sergio Conceição’s team
As on great occasions (and for much of the season)
the Ligurian venue will be colored in yellow and blue to push Patrick Vieira’s team toward a victory that has been missing in the league for three matchdays
and against the Rossoneri since the tenth matchday of the 2016/2017 season
The goal is not to look bad also with a view to the last three matchdays of the season, but Milan fully intends to do well, also because tonight's match will serve somewhat as a dress rehearsal for the Coppa Italia final scheduled for next May 14. In the lead-up to the Ferraris match, Il Secolo XIX

The feeling is that tonight against Genoa, Sergio Conceição will carry out a dress rehearsal for the Coppa Italia final
fielding his best eleven to get a clearer picture ahead of May 14
Milan will take the field in a 3-4-3 formation
with the Portuguese coach naturally relying on his key players:
The Dutchman has never scored or provided an assist against Genoa, while the American netted Milan’s last win in Liguria with a goal that sparked much debate due to a possible handball. It was October 2023, and that night Stefano Pioli’s Milan jumped to the top of the Serie A table

but Como snuck one past Nicola Leali in the 59th minute to take a 1-0 lead that stood until the final whistle

Milan to Scout Brentford-Linked Genoa Midfielder | OneFootballThe Cult of Calcio
Milan will take a close look at Morten Frendrup during Monday’s game. The Rossoneri have been keen in the past already, but Genoa always shut the door at his departure
According to Calciomercato, Brentford have been working on such a deal for a while
They are in pole position and ready to seal the deal

The player might prefer the Rossoneri when push comes to shove
Milan plot to bolster their midfield and find a deputy for Youssouf Fofana
but the youngster hasn’t been too convincing so far
The Rossoneri are interested but haven’t yet decided whether they’ll indeed go after the Dane. With an offer already in their pocket, Genoa ask for no less than €20M
He has starred in 123 games with the Rossoblù since transferring from Brondby in January 2022
This type of thing is where not having sorted out their management hurts. Any target and pursuit is moot until they do. The uncertainty about their bench also slows down their transfer market plans. He’s likely to leave in the summer, as Genoa don’t have other assets to foot their summer
unless their new owner completely shifts their MO
allowing them to keep all their core players
The Rossoneri don’t need too much depth without the Champions League and already made a decent investment in the position in January

AC Milan are getting ready to head to Genoa on Serie A Matchday 35
LATEST FROM MILANELLO \nAC Milan are coming into the game in mixed form. Last weekend, we secured a good 2-0 win over Venezia
showing our defensive solidity and decisiveness in attack
this did come straight after a 0-1 home loss to Atalanta
we put in a clean win in Udine (4-0) but that was also after a bitter-sweet draw against Fiorentina (2-2)
and giving us extra confidence and new energy
The Rossoneri are determined to give everything right until the end

Francesco Camarda (AC Milan via Getty Images)
Francesco Camarda has returned to the squad list of Sergio Conceição
who has sustained a strain to the rectus femoris of the right thigh
will be evaluated soon; especially since the Coppa Italia final is getting closer
Not only that, Camarda is back available for the first team also because he will not be able to play the playouts with Milan Futuro
given that he has not reached the required number of appearances to take part in the relegation playoffs
In this particular season, between Serie A and the UEFA Champions League
the 2008-born player has collected 13 cameos for a total of 189 minutes
Sergio Conceicao (AC Milan via Getty Images)
Physical and mental energies and attention are obviously directed toward what is the main objective: the Coppa Italia final
one that has brought more disappointments than joys this year
Considering the fact that before the match against Bologna on May 14 there are still two games, tonight's one against Genoa and Friday's one, also in the league, against the same Rossoblù, La Gazzetta dello Sport asked: to arrive in the best condition for the match in the capital
is it better to manage energy or to conduct a full rehearsal with what will likely be the starting lineup
Sergio Conceição's answer in yesterday's press conference
that “I don't have to manage anything,” suggests that even tonight against Genoa
the Portuguese coach will rely on his best eleven despite the various absences announced on the eve of the game
against Genoa there will be a general rehearsal for the Coppa Italia final
Sergio Conceição will opt for a wide rotation
Milan’s starting eleven seems for the first time to have taken a clear shape
and Theo Hernandez as the four behind the attacking trio composed of Rafael Leao
and one between Luka Jovic and the revived Santiago Gimenez
who scored last week after more than two months
Sergio Conceição will also be able to rely on credible alternatives
such as Kyle Walker (who can play either in Jimenez’s role or as a center-back) and Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Fofana forced off in first half vs Genoa
but Milan optimistic ahead of Coppa Italia final | OneFootballFootball Italia
Youssouf Fofana was forced off less than 30 minutes into Milan’s Serie A clash against Genoa, but his injury is not expected to be serious and should not jeopardise his availability for next week’s Coppa Italia final against Bologna

TURIN, ITALY – JANUARY 18: Andrea Cambiaso of Juventus runs with the ball under pressure from Youssouf Fofana of AC Milan during the Serie A match between Juventus and AC Milan at Allianz Stadium on January 18
The extent of the issue was initially unclear
with Fofana appearing to feel discomfort following a clash of feet with Junior Messias
Although he attempted to continue, it quickly became evident he was struggling to run properly, prompting Conceição to replace him with Rafael Leao, who was surprisingly left out of the starting XI

The Coppa Italia final is approaching, and Sergio Conceição will make the most of these next 7 days of work available
to best prepare Milan ahead of the match against Bologna
Before flying to Rome to compete for this trophy
which the Rossoneri hasn't won in 22 years
Sergio Conceicao's team will be involved in the league against Genoa this evening
in a preview of what should later take place in the capital
The impression is that, on the occasion of today's trip to the Ferraris, the red and black side of Milano will rely on his best eleven, while against Bologna he will give space to the second string, also to keep his strategies more covered and secret ahead of the final. On this topic, Tuttosport this morning published the following headline:
it seems that the starters will take the field against Genoa
Sergio Conceicao celebrates derby victory with Strahinja Pavlovic and Luka Jovic on April 23
The injury before the Venezia match had alarmed everyone
had proven to be decisive with 3 important goals
one against Fiorentina and two in the Coppa Italia derby against Inter
Fortunately, the issue has been resolved, with Sergio Conceição having the Serbian striker available for today's away match against Genoa. In fact, this morning 'Il QS' writes that 'Conceição has recovered Luka Jovic back
would still be competing for a starting spot with Santiago Gimenez
The feeling, though, especially in light of Tammy Abraham’s injury
is that the number 9 could start tonight against Genoa
while the Mexican will be at the center of Milan’s attack against Bologna
a match in which Conceição will opt for a massive rotation

On one side, there are the Rossoneri who no longer have anything to ask from the league, but they hope to win the Coppa Italia also to earn the right to a spot in the Europa League. On the other side, the Rossoblu thank Patrick Vieira for having led them to a calm salvation after the great initial fear. One of the few with additional motivation is Morten Frendrup
who has been in Geoffrey Moncada’s sights for months
Youssouf Fofana has never had a real alternative this season
An important gap that the Rossoneri intends to fill in view of the next season: Geoffrey Moncada is studying the possibility of Morten Frendrup
one of the best-performing midfielders this Serie A season
The evaluations are mainly about his adaptability to Milan’s tactical setup
the red and black club already knows that Genoa would not want to go below 20 million euros
This upcoming summer will mark Frendrup’s farewell to Genoa
and could close the deal at the end of the season
Milan enjoys the player’s preference and must now decide whether to strike or not: tomorrow evening’s match at the Marassi seems exactly like a classic final exam
It is time for the fourth-to-last matchday of Serie A Enilive for Milan who
will be guests of Genoa at the Luigi Ferraris stadium
neither team has major ambitions: the Grifone are already safe and calm
the Rossoneri could still get back into the Conference League zone but it’s complicated
and all mental energy is focused on the Coppa Italia final against Bologna
After three wins in four matches, with only one goal conceded and nine scored, Sergio Conceição will confirm the 3-4-3 that has been accompanying Milan in this final part of the season. The Rossoneri coach announced in the press conference the last-minute absences of Abraham, Bondo, and Sottil: the first due to thigh fatigue
the second due to trauma to the right ankle
and the third due to a strain in the obturator muscle
None of the three will be available for the trip to Liguria
The defensive line in front of Mike Maignan will not change and remains the one now well-tested in recent outings: Tomori
everything should remain unchanged with Fofana-Pulisic in the center and Jimenez and Theo Hernandez on the wings
A small doubt could exist for the role of right wing-back
with the Spaniard in a ballot with Kyle Walker
Pulisic and Leao will support the lone striker
The center forward is the biggest doubt on the eve: the Serb is competing with Santi Gimenez

(WIFR) - A fire that destroyed multiple homes in Genoa’s Riverbend subdivision is under investigation
Around 4:45 a.m. Sunday, March 16, crews were called to a multi-house fire in the 200 block of Market Street, according to the Genoa Police Department
Genoa-Kingston Fire Chief Bruce Kozlowski says one home was entirely engulfed in flames and the blaze began to spread to the two homes
“Theres’s nothing suspicious,” Kozlowski said
“It’s under investigation between the Illinois State Fire Marshall and Genoa PD.”
The Chief says the north winds played a role in how the blaze spread
and it could have been much worse if gusts blew in the opposite direction
“We had a strong north wind,” Kozlowski said
“I’m not sure how strong but it pushed it into building one and the wall on the D side of building two collapsed into building three.”
Armando Galindez and his wife and two cats lived in one of those homes affected by the fire
“The saddest part is our pets,” Galindez said
“We’re just grateful we’re okay and that everyone else came out of it okay.”
Galindez remembers a police officer coming to house Sunday morning to let him know the house next-door was on fire
“I looked out the garage door and their car was in flames
So that’s when it started popping because their whole front end was on fire,” Galindez recalls
“Then we were waiting for the fire department to get here
and it got worse and worse and got to our house.”
he says his family will stay with his mother an hour away until they find a new place to call home
He says it’s surreal to return to your neighborhood and expect to see your house
including the Hampshire Fire Protection District and Pingree Grove Countryside Fire Protection District were called in to assist
Deputy Chief Chris Howell with the Pingree Grove & Countryside Fire Protection District reported its district’s engine was on the scene for nearly four hours
Kozlowski shares a former Genoa-Kingston firefighter
Justin Lee offered his home to the displaced residents and served as a rehab area for fire crews
used to be the Deputy Chief of our department and she was able to get some water and pizzas
and Kirkland Fire sent over some water as well,” Kozlowski shared
Fire officials have not shared whether anyone was hurt and how many families are displaced
A monetary damage estimate is also unknown at this time

one of the most positive surprises in Patrick Vieira’s team
“We’re facing four teams that still have something to fight for
We have to maintain the same attitude we’ve shown so far: give everything
but everyone knows that playing at the Ferraris is tough.”
He brought balance and more stability to the team during a difficult period
The coach made me feel like a leader of this team.”
And the same goes for becoming the Mexican with the most matches played in Serie A."
Absent against Venezia due to a physical issue that arose during the warm-up, Luka Jovic could return to lead Milan’s attack tomorrow night against Genoa. As La Gazzetta dello Sport writes this morning:
That is referring to the fact that Sergio Conceição will also have Tammy Abraham and Santiago Gimenez at his disposal—Gimenez coming off a goal against the Venetians
the sense is that the Portuguese coach will use the Genoa match as a dress rehearsal for the lineup that will take the field on the evening of the 14th in Rome against Bologna
it seems more likely that Jovic will start against Genoa
while Gimenez and Abraham will probably compete for a starting spot in Friday’s game at San Siro against the Rossoblù—a match that will serve as a preview of the Coppa Italia final

Matchday 35 of the 2024–25 Serie A Season is scheduled for Monday
The Rossoneri are nearing the end of a very difficult league campaign: Milan currently sit ninth
and qualifying for Europe through Serie A seems increasingly unlikely
The most important match remains the Coppa Italia final against Bologna: a win there would give the Rossoneri their second trophy of the season and secure Europa League qualification. Against the Genoa side, Sergio Conceição is looking for consistency. Here are the probable line-ups for Genoa-Milan, according to Il Corriere dello Sport
the visitors should stick with the 3-4-3 formation in search of continuity
Kyle Walker is expected to play wide on the right
both against Genoa and in the Coppa Italia final
The defense and midfield are considered untouchable: Tomori
and Pavlovic at the back; Fofana and Reijnders in central midfield
and Pulisic should all start against Genoa
In the Coppa Italia, Conceição is expected to start Luka Jovic: the Serbian didn’t train with the group yesterday either, but his availability is not in doubt. Between Genoa and Bologna, Abraham and Gimenez will alternate up front. Here are the expected line-ups for Genoa-Milan:

The Rossoneri will be in action at the "Luigi Ferraris" stadium against Genoa only on Monday
May 5 at 8:45 PM to close the 35th round of the league
Sergio Conceicao's team does not have much to ask for on this front
but the match with the Grifone will project the team toward the double clash against Bologna — on Friday the 9th in the league and in the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday the 14th
The match in Genoa is shaping up to be another opportunity to fine-tune the new 3-4-3
which seems to have brought greater solidity
For the match between Genoa and Milan
Giuseppe Collu from the Cagliari section has been chosen: it is a first time for the Rossoneri
who have never crossed paths with this referee
there are two precedents and two defeats: one this season and the other last season
