The Giffoni Film Festival is an Italian children's film festival that takes place annually in Giffoni Valle Piana
The festival typically has around 100,000 guests
It seeks to promote and develop cinema for young people
elevating it from the marginal position it had back in those days
The festival is dedicated to children and young adults
Its international jury is composed of approximately 600 youngsters per section
Every year various international talent and stars take part in the festival to meet the jurors and discuss with them about cinema
This year’s edition of the festival will conclude on July 28
Giffoni Valle Piana is a town of about 12,000 inhabitants in the province of Salerno where for 50 years has been held what has become the most important film event dedicated to children and young people from all over the world
Contributing to the transformation of Caludio Gubitosi’s intuition into a global event that attracts Hollywood stars, major production companies and, in recent years, hi-tech giants, has been the cohesion policy implemented by the Campania Region, which has been able to interpret the vision of the Giffoni Film Festival contributing to redesigning the territory
making it suitable for hosting the major event
but also stimulating the local economy and creating the conditions for the emergence of an ancillary sector
Giffoni in the last ten years has received 60 million euros for projects related to territorial redevelopment and the construction of numerous structures
The main measures allowed the construction of the Giffoni Multimedia Valley
the recovery of the Castle and the medieval village of Terravecchia
the recovery of the former ‘Ramiera’ industrial factory and
the recovery of the monumental complex of San Francesco
the creation and conservative restoration of landscape paths and rural and urban parks
The Multimedia Valley is the natural expansion of the Giffoni Film Festival experience that responds to the need to expand
develop and articulate the activity of the GFF which
in the years before Giffoni Experience and today: Opportunity.
The first lot will be completed in October 2022
the Museo Testimoni del Tempo with an additional 2,500 m2 of exhibition space and the 6,000-seat Arena for major events
which will become one of the main hubs in southern Italy for musical
Giffoni Multimedia Valley also includes the Regional Media Library
parking areas and infrastructures for support services and equipped greenery
The Multimedia Valley is a centre of cultural attraction intended to enlarge the physical and ideal spaces of the Citadel of Cinema
is identified as the cornerstone of the entire project
the settlement will complete the existing Citadel of Cinema on an area of 200,000 square metres
has attracted international attention and now has an integrated system of structures that combine a space entirely dedicated to cinema
memory and the development of techniques and technologies for multimedia innovation
Giffoni has become a place where ideas generate ideas
Not only for its natural international and inclusive vocation
but also for being part of the Coalition for Digital Skills and Professions
which has stimulated and will stimulate further actions in line with the policy objectives set by the Commission for the period 2127 in terms of sustainable innovation and job creation linked to the development of ICT
The national secretary of the Democratic Party covers a wide range of topics: from broad alliances to electoral law
and the reform of differentiated autonomy: “Let’s build an alternative to this right-wing starting from concrete issues and not the perimeter of alliances”
Today at Giffoni is the day of Elly Schlein
national secretary of the Democratic Party
Her visit precedes that of Giuseppe Conte
creating a dialogue more distanced than close on the idea of a broad alliance
they are experimenting with as seen in various electoral experiences during the June local elections
But Elly Schlein in Giffoni cannot start without addressing the youth and cinema
the younger generations and culture: “Let yourself be transformed and carried away by this experience” – she says
“I believe there should be a cross-sectional recognition for Giffoni
An experience like this opens your mind and lets you travel without moving
I am happy to be here because it is an unmissable opportunity for young people to learn to unleash their creativity
art and music because they represent elements of growth and collective inclusion but also professional paths that deserve respect because these workers often live in difficult and precarious conditions”
She says this and adds that she has had experiences in other film festivals that have been extremely formative for her
She also mentions being an aspiring director
Waiting for her is the founder of Giffoni, Claudio Gubitosi
With him are the president of the Ente Autonomo Giffoni, Pietro Rinaldi
and the general director of Giffoni, Jacopo Gubitosi
Wearing the tricolour sash is the mayor of Giffoni Valle Piana, Antonio Giuliano
In the front row in the audience are MEP Sandro Ruotolo and parliamentarian Piero De Luca
Elly Schlein meets the Impact! youth
The resignation of Giovanni Toti from the presidency of the Liguria Region interrupts the Festival and Schlein does not shy away from commenting: “For eighty days
It is time to give the Ligurian citizens their voice back
for alternative forces to the right to build a project looking to the future”
is the guiding theme of her visit to Giffoni
Matteo Renzi urges her from the news agencies
“In recent times – she replies – we have been stubbornly united because we are aware that no party
no opposition force today is sufficient to determine an alternative to the Meloni government
we must unite our forces and do so on concrete issues”
Easier said than done: “I do not underestimate this right-wing – she adds – because it is true that we had an excellent result in the European elections but they still came out on top
we must agree on the things to do for Italy
It takes generosity and mutual recognition
I do not believe in abstract formulas; winning coalitions are not born in a test tube
Alliances are made among different people and value differences
emphasizes the PD secretary: “We do not impose them on anyone – she explains – but we do not want to suffer them either
We held a beautiful united demonstration in Genoa and the crowd asked us to be united
It was the most emotional square of all the over 140 I have held in this electoral campaign
Unity is something to be pursued because our people ask us for it and it is the true premise for building an alternative”
And the themes are those dear to a modern left
which finds in Schlein the representative perhaps best able to empathize with a young audience
a battle very dear to her – “because if you pay less than nine euros an hour
but exploitation” she says – to the issue of public health
which unfortunately has strayed too far from the universalistic right envisioned by women like Tina Anselmi
From climate issues to the enormous question of civil and social rights
“These are – she concludes – the concrete issues on which we can find points of convergence with other opposition forces to make Italy a better country and Europe a better place”
“We are surrounded by men who are afraid of the word feminism”
She speaks about her condition as a young woman and does not hold back her tears: “I would like to invite you to our next party assembly – Schlein replies – because what you say is true
women earn 13% less than men for the same jobs and this is unacceptable
This data reveals another truth: women struggle more to progress in their careers
There is a proposal we have not yet managed to pass
with the provision of a five-month paid parental leave at 100% to distribute the care burden that mostly falls on women’s shoulders in our families”
“We will also fight to ensure that anti-abortionists cannot enter family planning clinics to pressure women
more shared sentiments from the young audience
A reference to young people’s disaffection with politics is inevitable
Schlein has another conviction: “If there is so much abstention – she explains – it does not mean that young people give up on politics
you are doing politics and you are doing it together
There are other ways to do politics today and parties should open doors and windows
Flood us with the strength of your ideas and creativity.”
An important contribution from the youth can come from supporting the petition for the abrogative referendum on the reform of differentiated autonomy: “It is a law – she explained – that splits the country in two
which instead needs to be mended and it is a reform that harms even the North
It is a reform they are pushing forward without a euro
without even bothering to hide that it is still the secessionist design of the Lega party
which Fratelli d’Italia party bows to for a power agreement linked to the premiership reform
The premiership reform enters the debate when asked about the current electoral law with blocked lists and de facto appointed parliamentarians: “This electoral law needs to be changed”
“We are against the premiership because it does not exist in any other country and because it jeopardizes the balance of powers protected by our Constitution
The premiership centralizes power in the hands of the government leader
we would face the fact that the government would decide the life of the Parliament”
“The premiership is a very clever argument but democracy is much more complex and precious”
two other themes are returning in many Impact meetings
Starting with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
Schlein uses clear words: “The massacre in Palestine is ongoing every day
so it is evident that we are not doing enough
Our position has been clear from the beginning
The perspective is that of two states but one already exists
has the right to exist and this is an international community’s responsibility
we ask Italy and Europe to recognize the State of Palestine as other countries have”
They cyclically return with their trail of pain and death: “That labourer did not die – she says – but was killed by the inhumanity of the people he worked for
But this is unfortunately not an exception
By ensuring fair competition conditions and investing in control tools
which has created irregularities for twenty years
Because often these irregularities become blackmail
We should break the hypocrisy where we always blame irregular immigrants and never the employers who hire them irregularly”
They tell her from the stage: “Thank you for the hope you gave us today
that of living in a country that can resemble more this utopia called Giffoni”

gives an extremely positive preliminary assessment of the edition and announces his action to restore funds from the Ministry of Culture
“What happened in Giffoni over these days was something magical
which my entire team and I launched on July 9th
organizational and economic efforts ever made. From the first day
I felt a strong energy that I had never registered in previous editions
My experience made me realize immediately that we were witnessing objectively extraordinary passion and participation”
begins his account of #Giffoni54 during the closing press conference of the fifty-fourth edition of the Giffoni Film Festival
held this morning at the Giffoni Multimedia Valley
“Those who were in Giffoni over these days found a town in celebration”
wonderful young people who followed all our proposals attentively
from Impact to +18 up to the new section dedicated to Sport
which gave us another opportunity for development and growth
We opened new spaces to many young people who
approached Giffoni. Social well-being is the expression that best conveys what happened here
Gubitosi dedicates special thoughts to the Impact
section: “250 young people chose to spend their vacations here
from 10 in the morning until 9 in the evening
They met and engaged with many personalities
addressing significant themes and focusing on important values: they talked about wars and the situation in Palestine
But the Giffoni experience doesn’t only affect the young: “Everyone who was at Giffoni brought a piece of themselves
Both those who had been here before and noticed the growth and those who had never been here”
Gubitosi shares some figures of #Giffoni54: “Over three hundred guests from culture
over fifty directors of the competing films
120 films all accepted with great respect and
truly numerous social projects where we gave space and attention to those who work for and with young people
friendship among boys and girls from 35 nations through the jurors”
the founder moves to acknowledgments: “Now the festival is over and I have the duty to remind you that it was made possible thanks to an initial
significant funding from the Campania Region
which President Vincenzo De Luca managed to recover from his own funds in May
he addresses “the problems and challenges we faced”
“it’s hard for me to add something negative to concepts of joy and happiness”
here’s the account: “During these intense days
but now I have the duty to inform you of the action taken by Minister of Culture Gennaro Sangiuliano
eight ministers of the Meloni government came to Giffoni
I renewed the invitation to those government members whose presence I considered necessary for enriching the dialogue between institutions and young people
President Meloni thanked me for the invitation but couldn’t attend due to her institutional commitments in Italy and abroad
the participation of some government members was not lacking: “We had the Minister of Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti
didn’t want to miss the appointment with us
yesterday was an intense day spent here by the Minister for Sports and Youth, Andrea Abodi
understood from the first moment the mutual potentials we could harness
I thank him and the Department for Youth Policies and the entire team for how all the planned activities were carried out”
Gubitosi adds: “For projects related to FAMI
the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi
sent us a very heartfelt and intense video message
the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano
who should be the reference minister for Giffoni
the detailed account: “Let’s start with the facts
Giffoni has responded to the call for grants for film and audiovisual promotion activities
Our project has been deemed very valid by the commissions evaluating the proposals
often ranking first with funding reaching 950 thousand euros last year
What has always been rewarded is the quality of our project and the number of initiatives undertaken
This is unmatched by any other cultural and film event in Italy”
“For the first time since this type of intervention exists
the Ministry of Culture imposed a cap of 400 thousand euros as the maximum grant
except that the call was published in July
just a few days before the festival started
What are the projects that have exceeded 250 thousand euros in funding over the years
which in the last five editions of the call
received support of almost one million euros annually
That’s why – he attacks – I don’t think I’m wrong in calling this call a ‘punish-Giffoni’ call
This obviously causes us an evident financial and economic problem
even more serious because it impacted this year’s edition
something that has never happened in our history
a history that has been going on for over half a century
Gubitosi also explains “the reasons behind this punish-Giffoni decision
The issue – he says – is political
My responsibility would have been siding with the President of the Campania Region
regarding the lack of transfer of Development and Cohesion Funds
I should have remained silent instead of highlighting
the difficulties and problems that even Giffoni could have due to the lack of fund allocation
the question: “Is it possible that after 54 years of honourable career
I should have accepted that for one year Giffoni might not take place
I decided to defend its history, an idea made in Italy
rooted in a South that creates development
I acted in the interest of young people and an entire territory that has grown
developed and lives around this great project
The founder of Giffoni also makes an important clarification: “In these months
to create a memorable edition of the Festival
I never allowed myself to express a judgment or criticism against President Meloni or Minister Fitto or Minister Sangiuliano
Because institutional respect is sacred to me”
Gubitosi does not hide his regret for the absence of the Minister of Culture at Giffoni: “If Minister Sangiuliano had accepted the invitation
he would have had the chance to see our reality firsthand and understand what has been achieved over these years
thanks to the Development and Cohesion Funds
What transformation of the territory has occurred thanks to these resources
which have created conditions for new economy
Far from being ephemeral and clientelist investments
as the Minister often labels cultural interventions in Italy
This also includes certification from Nuvap
the Public Investment Evaluation and Verification Unit at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers
which gave full marks to our programming and investments
And the study conducted by Deloitte on the value of our brand”
Gubitosi highlights the contradiction: “It’s a bit paradoxical that while on one hand
the economic value of the Giffoni brand – estimated at over 71 million euros annually – is crystallized
that of a Festival promoting cinema and culture twelve months a year
decides to penalize us with this unjust cut
in a year when the fund for festival contributions remained identical to last year”
The creator and founder of Giffoni continues: “With this decision
the Minister of Culture cuts funds to young people
President Meloni and some Ministers of her Government are aware of this absurd stance
And now you all know because it’s right that everyone knows our goal: we want Minister Sangiuliano to return what was taken from us. We appeal to Minister Sangiuliano to restore those conditions of feasibility
It’s obvious that we had already committed all the funds to make this edition possible because we couldn’t have imagined such a radical cut just days before the festival
Gubitosi moves on to his appeals: “This situation of precariousness must end and I appeal to parliamentarians from every political force to intervene in whatever ways they deem appropriate
I also ask for an amendment to the upcoming State Budget Law to provide for a fixed annual allocation
It is the most appropriate way to free us from this condition of precariousness and uncertainty”
Claudio Gubitosi announces his next concrete action: “In recent months
I have repeatedly requested meetings and appointments with the Minister
I will go in front of the Ministry of Culture
and I will stay there until I receive assurances from Minister Sangiuliano
my age and what I have been able to accomplish
I will not move from there until I have confirmation that the funding will be restored to us”
just hours after the closure of this splendid edition of Giffoni
because I strongly believe in the value of dialogue
I consider the respect of institutions to be sacred
even if sometimes it is the institutions that do not respect us”
the conclusion: “Giffoni is a heritage for everyone
it belongs to everyone and it is right that everyone is informed about this matter that seriously threatens our stability
This is why I ask everyone to spread this news and to raise awareness in the Government about this unbearable injustice”
Gubitosi’s words are echoed by the president of the Giffoni Film Festival, Piero Rinaldi: “Thank you
This year’s edition of the festival has been unique
He adds: “It was a well-organized festival
families and young people eager to participate
Our event involves all of Italy and the world and it was unimaginable to suspend it
The general director, Jacopo Gubitosi
focuses on the great novelty represented by Giffoni Sport: “This year it has given a new essence to the project we have been carrying out for 54 years
many activities and a beautiful open-air arena created thanks to the collaboration with Sport e Salute
It was wonderful – he emphasizes – to see the kids in a calm and safe place
It was wonderful to see how much Giffoni was needed this year”
Also present was the mayor of Giffoni Valle Piana, Antonio Giuliano
Not only does he praise the fifty-fourth edition of the festival and show enthusiasm for Giffoni Sport
but he fully supports Gubitosi’s battle: “Giffoni is a single force
addressing the founder of the Giffoni Film Festival directly – is grateful to you and I
And again: “Gubitosi has influenced the institutions with the culture of cinema
I hope that Minister Sangiuliano will come to Giffoni to shake your hand because you deserve it
Indispensable is the political and financial support of the Campania Region to the Giffoni Film Festival which
has demonstrated its importance for young people from all over the world
innovation and sustainability in a climate of inclusiveness and tolerance
The 53rd edition saw the participation of thousands of jurors and numerous guests
despite the fact that it had to do without some presences
engaged in a battle to affirm the rights of artists in an era of great upheavals in the distribution of cinematographic works (streaming) and also in their production due to the increasing use of artificial intelligence on sets
Difficult times for a humanity struggling with climate change
with the complex management of migratory flows and with the presence of numerous conflicts
Not least the one on the doorstep of the European Union
Here is the theme of the 53rd edition of the Festival: “Indispensable”
there would be no present or even a future
The President of the Campania Region underlined on the opening day that the energy of committed young people is needed
Vincenzo De Luca and the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola
De Luca proudly recalled Campania’s commitment to peace
with the unfortunately unheeded call for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and the launch of numerous projects for the well-being
called on giffoners to commit and be ready to contribute
given that “the European Union is not perfect
The world is changing and we cannot be afraid of change
This is why Europe needs your participation
to regain the sense of hope and possibility that the European Union offers.” – concluded Metsola
The generation that participates in the Giffoni Film Festival must acquire new skills to properly govern the technique
correct the mistakes of the past and move towards a more humane
we are working to stimulate the use of renewable sources for energy production to protect water bodies in order to avoid flooding
Thus the Vice-President of the Campania Region
at the final evening of the Giffoni Film Festival
Mario Morcone together with the Head of the Department for Civil Liberties and Immigration of the Ministry of the Interior
Migration and Integration Fund (FAMI Project)
he met the young people of the Impact section with whom he spoke
telling about some of the actions of the Campania Region to promote the culture of legality
through the recovery of assets confiscated from the mafias and migration policies able to avoid the creation of pockets of marginalisation
Giffoni is innovation. The Councillor for Innovation, Research and Startup of the Campania Region, Valeria Fascione (disambiguation) Speaking to the young people of Giffoni Next Generation, an overview of innovation promoted by Giffoni Innovation Hub
recalled the opportunities offered by the call for proposals Campania Startup
Numerous investments have been made in the sector through the regional law for Cinema
These investments in turn generate development and employment
This year there were 170 media productions
A wide range of audiovisual products that finds in Campania a very fertile ground helping to create an audiovisual industry distributed in the various centers of the region
General Directorate for Cultural Policies and Tourism of the Campania Region and Titta Fiore
president of the Film Commission Foundation of the Campania Region
spoke about this during the summit on the future of audiovisual productions held in partnership with the Giffoni Innovation Hub and the Giffoni Experience
Giffoni is an opportunity to give important messages to the younger generations and then also the Councillor for Agriculture of the Campania Region
prefer healthy lifestyles that favor the consumption of healthy and healthy local products
If the young people attending the festival are the future of humanity
the Giffoni Film Festival is working to expand its offer and increasingly be the place to celebrate life and imagination through audiovisual works
Accompanied by the Director Claudio Gubitosi
the Councillor for Tourism of the Campania Region Felice Casucci (disambiguation)
had the opportunity to visit the construction sites where the structures that will complete the Multimedia Valley co-financed by the Cohesion Policy are being built
A major investment of public resources involving the Campania Region
the European Union and the Italian Government
which has been committed for years to making Giffoni Valle Piana a centre of excellence in training and the production of audiovisual content for entertainment
the Campania Region has chosen Giffoni to present the 2023-2024 edition of the civic monitoring project of Cohesion Policies of which it is a partner
The meeting was attended by Social Rescue team the Liceo Fermi of Aversa
national winner of the A School of Open Cohesion 2022/2023 edition
told the jurors about their experience and the skills acquired in monitoring a project to redevelop an area confiscated from organised crime

Because the future must cultivate human values
The future has already begun here - the President concluded - also because we are pursuing a specific objective: making peace with the environment
We can turn the environment into an opportunity to grow and create new jobs

Forty-seven years of “magic” dedicated to beauty and to the creativity of thousands of young people
We have brought entire generations together

taking place on the same day within the Campania Region
in Italy and across the world simultaneously
Despite being almost fifty years old and having achieved so much we continue to strive with great passion aiming to renovate and regenerate ourselves so that we can continue to create dreams for youth
developing with the same pace and speed with which they grow their extraordinary desire and need for Giffoni
There is great anticipation for the 47th Giffoni Film Festival

Director Claudio Gubitosi is set to make the first anticipated announcements regarding the Giffoni 2017 programme directly from the 'Aula Magna' of the Classical Lyceum “Torquato Tasso” in Salerno
the choice of this school has both a symbolic and historical meaning
thanks to the sensitivity of the school manager Carmela Santarcangelo
The Giffoni Film Festival is a place our kids can call home – the school manager commented – it is a place capable of offering countless opportunities
like the laudable cultural exchanges that bring students closer to distant Countries and cultures
A wonderful idea that over the years has given young people the chance to discover various languages of communication opening up to the territory just like we have been doing with our school”
The first tiles set to make up the whole mosaic of the 2017 "Into the magic” edition were unveiled before 150 students from the Calliope section specializing in languages of communication
Students welcomed the guests with great energy and full of enthusiasm
Many former jurors went on to speak about their experience as Generators +13 ndi +18
all showing the same love for the jersey they have been wearing from year to years which has enabled them to experience unique moments of development and given them huge opportunities to travel the world thanks to our missions abroad
creating great future prospects for jurors like Valerio Lorito
Giuseppe Salsano Davide Proto as theytold the audience
Various authorities and institutions attended: Salerno mayor Vincenzo Napoli
police commissioner of Salerno Pasquale Errico, mayor of Giffoni Valle Piana Antonio Giuliano
Chief commander of Carabinieri in Salerno Antonino Neosi, commander of Carabinieri in Battipaglia Erich Fasolino
who were welcomed by Giffoni Experience president Piero Rinaldi
CAMPANIA GOVERNOR VINCENZO DE LUCA: “GIFFONI IS AN EXTRAORDINARY HUMAN EXPERIENCE AND AN IMPORTANT PROJECT That GIVES A POSITIVE IMAGE OF THE CAMPANIA REGION”
“Giffoni is a unique event like no other in Italy and Abroad”
started off the Governor of Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca
“Some time ago I was doubtful about the Festival
but now I can see the outlines of project of great interest and future prospect connecting film to new technologies
education and training and the creation of jobs. the Multimedia Valley is being completed: we will have a place addressed to production
training and education on new technologies
Giffoni has become important especially for the cultural exchange for youth – highlighted De Luca speaking to the youth in attendance – the words we have heard from your pers confirm it is a splendid experience
a chance for you to meet youth from across the world and learn about their experiences
I like this element of humanity which remains unscathed at the Giffoni Film Festival. Giffoni is an extraordinary experience for the Region because as Claudio Gubitosi says
when the festival takes place the image of the Region is projected in Italy and internationally and from this perspective Giffoni helps us project a positive image of our region: that of rigor
after remembering the days in which he used to attend the Tasso lyceum as a student (“This has been for many of us and for many years the main school of the city
I am happy for the great job the school manager is doing opening up to working and production places to external creativity”)
Governor De Luca was inspired by the theme of the 47th Giffoni edition when he addressed himself to the students: “We are living in difficult times
as you already know: speaking about creativity
imagination is like reconciling with humanity
The theme for this year is “Into the Magic”
dreams and imagination: this is a dimension we cannot give up
A human being cannot live without inspiration
It is though important for this inspiration not to get lost like talking to a brick wall
be free women and men: when they will try to educate you towards opportunism hold up your heads high and make yourselved heard”
organizing one of any kind is certainly not easy
but it also not a difficult thing to do: when I say this I mainly refer to the making of programmes
they may even be relevant events but have a beginning and an end
is very difficult considering the complexity and continuity of the project” said director and founder Claudio Gubitosi this morning during the first of a series of presentations of the 2017 edition that took place in Salerno. “The numbers of Giffoni– continued Gubitosi - are amazing: four hundred thousand people involved throughout the year
to attend Festivals and international events
furthermore we are proud to have had a strong economic
over 70 accommodation structures have been created in five different towns in the area
Giffoni Experience is all this and today more than ever it stands out thanks to its ability to be the world leader in its sector
We have shown once again how the entrepreneurial ability of provincial towns may be an example for the world to look up to: it is not so much and not only about the place but rather the idea that shapes and characterizes the place
Culture is happiness and every happiness deserves to be told
Giffoni is definitely one of the 10 most important Festivals in the world and one of the cultural events that Italy recognizes
You can only achieve this if you have foresight
Giffoni is a lifestyle: You always come to Giffoni in any case
Giffoni is a lifestyle also when it comes to schools: the Movie Days project
has brought over 500 thousand students in the Cittadel each year: we are a service of public utility for state schools and private ones
Giffoni must keep following four ways: Deseasonalization
of its activities year round; Internazionalization
travelling the world and bringing the world to those places; Employment
it is already one of the few Festivals with permanent staff; Economic Recovery
confirmed by scores of academic thesis focusing on how we have changed the business opportunities for the periphery
With the Multimedia Valley and with more support to the innovation and production sector
by the end of the year we will be presenting 25 start-ups created by 5 young creative people
From next September we will be producing various animations
focusing on stories from our region: the witches of Benevento
the small dinosaur which was found in Pietrarsa
Greater attention will also be dedicated to Made in Campania productions
works made and filmed in little developed areas such as Caivano, the 'Sanità'
There is so much life and so many stories that deserve to be told
Special attention will also be dedicated to MAD Entertainment
a factory of animation helmed with great professionalism by producer Luciano Stella
At the same time we intend to help local areas that need a launch platform
areas with a great social impact like the cities of Avella
Nola and Avellino; we would like to make a bio picture about the story of Carlo Gesualdo who had a great role in the development of music and would like the world to know more about this incredible story
We will also enhance and strengthen our bonds with the other regions from the South of Italy: Calabria
In September we will also support the activation of the five-year school course in Audiovisiual Productions at the secondary high school 'Istituto Tecnico – Settore Economico' from Giffoni Valle Piana
associated to the Scientific Lyceum “Gian Camillo Glorioso” in Montecorvino Rovella
We also intend to launch to university courses connected to the audiovisual world
enhancing our bond with the Universities of Salerno
Rome and the 'Cattolica' and 'Bocconi' in Milan
I am also very proud of our innovation department for the agreement we have made with the University of Lund in Sweden
one of the top ranked science universities in the word
In 2018 we will also launch the first market of ideas and a new modern market of videogames production
but these are only some of the aspects of Giffon and of what it is set to become in the near future strengthening its connection with dreamers and with the world of employment
One of the strategies marking the past two years has been the desire to finally create a local network
in which we are deeply rooted helping it develop
This is the reason why we launched the Picentini brand
together with the support of all the mayors from the area,
Many human resources from the area including
marketing and event organization will be employed to support the development of the whole area year round so that it can become a local and international landmark
Giffoni is a dynamic idea suitable for all future changes
Every revolution must go through a destruction and annihilation stage of what came before it
Gubitosi gave one last huge preview: “For the anniversary marking our 50th edition in 2020
in September we will start the procedure so that Giffoni may be inscribed as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity“ by Unesco"
critical thinking jury in the word keeps getting bigger and bigger every year
We did our best to accept the thousands of applications we received through the many clickdays and via the contest to assess the potential and creativity of the Generator jurors wannabes
However considering the incredible number of applicants we finally decided to launch a new exceptional call a few days ago to give a further 250 youth the chance to join the jury
distributed in seven competitive sections according to age criteria - Elements +3
Parental Control/GexDoc for parents - plus 100 Masterclass jurors
Youth from 52 Countries worldwide,includingAzerbaijan
The whole of Europe and Italy will gather in Giffoni diving 'Into the Magic' atmosphere that they create year after year
We are also happy that after 11 years (the last time was in 2006)
a delegation from Iran will be back in Giffoni
a Country Giffoni has always been very close to and where we have sent jurors to the Hamedan and Isfahan film festivals until 2015
GIFFONI FILMS AND THE FIRST GREAT PREMIERE: DESPICABLE ME 3
The juries as always will be the only judges of the competitions and decide upon the winners
The list of films for the 47th edition selected out of over 4.500 features films and shorts in the pre selection
However the first great Italian premiere can be announced
"Despicable Me 3" is indeed set to premiere on 17 July
The new chapter featuring former villain Gru with his wife Lucy
Edith and Agnes) and obviously their loyal Minions
BRYAN CRANSTON THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL TALENT TO BE ANNOUNCED
Bryan Cranston is the first international star to be announced by the Giffoni Film Festival for the 47th edition (July 14 – 22
The multi-talented actor will receive the Giffoni Experience Award on July 20st in Giffoni Valle Piana
who is best known for his iconic role in the AMC cult television show Breaking Bad
will meet the biggest and most colorful jury of youth in the world to talk about his phenomenal career
Cranston’s portrayal of Walter White in “Breaking Bad” garnered him four Emmy® Awards
Cranston holds the honor of being the first actor in a cable series and the second lead actor in the history of the Emmy® Awards to receive three consecutive wins
Cranston holds the honor of being the first actor in a cable series and the second lead actor in the history of the Emmy Awards to receive three consecutive wins
“INTO THE MAGIC” THEME AND POSTER BY MAESTRO MIMMO PALADINO
There is a great need of magic: maybe this is the reason why the Giffoni Experience community has chosen the theme INTO THE MAGIC
Into the magic is a joyous cry coming from whoever wishes to dive into the experience of Giffoni
Magic for the meetings that bring together generations and distant lands
Magic for the stories you can see in Giffoni that shed a light on worlds and situations we would otherwise know little of
Magic for the streets and 'piazzas' of the town (Giffoni Valle Piana) with performances
Magic because it is an experience that repeats itself every year but at the same time is always incredibly new and different from the previous year
starting from the poster characterizing each edition so strongly
A work of art in its own right that has seen artists challenging themselves with fantastic worlds and characters
poster of the Festival has been entrusted in the hands of maestro Mimmo Paladino – born in Benevento but known all over the world – painter
chiseller whose works are placed in some of the most important museums in the world including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York
There is great expectation and anticipation in the community for the offiical poster set to be unveiled soon.
A colorful hummingbird that is about to fly: that is the image chosen to represent the theme of the 45th Giffoni Film Festival
due in Giffoni Valle Piana from 17 to 26 July. The artist is the thirty-two year old Domenico Manno, talented and prestigious creative director who has huge international experience
having already worked with Fox Channels Italy
The image recalls the theme of the next edition of the GFF
"Is there a being - artist Manno explains - that can better represent the idea of seizing each single second more than a hummingbird
This creature is capable of beating its tiny wings flapping them 80 times per second
The only being who can fly standing still. "
According to the director of the Giffoni Experience, Claudio Gubitosi: "This year's theme is extremely challenging and fascinating
a concept that we have adopted completely: it is essentially an invitation for young people to make their lives extraordinary
Without leaving for Tomorrow what can be done Today
Carpe Diem is about seizing the long moment of your youth
fully enjoying its unrepeatable uniqueness."
Seize the day is the theme of the 45th edition of the Giffoni Experience
scheduled July 17 26 in Giffoni Valle Piana (Sa)
Carpe Diem follows other themes such as desire
Whilst “Be Different” shook the past edition
the upcoming one will be all about the “Horace's warning”
the ancient latin poet indeed suggested we seize the day a mantra which would be made popular in more recent times by late Robin Williams a professor Keating in “Dead Poet's Society”
by the Giffoni social community of 113 Thousand fans on Facebook who preferred Carpe Diem over imagination
The Giffoni Experience is the seventh biggest page in the world dedicated to film festivals
GIffoni Experience artistic director Claudio Gubitosi is excited about the new theme: “Carpe Diem – - is a warning
a concept which we can totally relate to: it's essentially an invitation we make to youth so to make their lives extraordinary
With no holding back till tomorrow what you can do today with courage and passion
Carpe Diem is seizing your time and enjoyng every single moment”
The recent events surrounding Robin Williams's sudden death
the protagonist of “Dead Poet's society”, were definitely a huge influence for the “voters”.Carpe Diem is full of nuances such as the fear of time passing by
living life to the fullest without any regrets
this was the invitation addressed to Giffoni Film Festival jurors by Maria Elena Boschi
under-secretary to the presidency of council of ministers who joined the inauguration of the new and innovative Multimedia Valley
The new building is entirely dedicated to the development of creativity and culture and ready to welcome start-ups and visionary youths to promote their entrepreneurial skills
President of Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca
together with under-secretary to the presidency of council of ministers Maria Elena Boschi
Giffoni Valle Piana mayor Antonio Giuliano
Giffoni Experience President Piero Rinaldi and Director Claudio Gubitosi
cut the ribbon of the innovative building dedicated to "cultural entertainment" and made by Rcm and Cicalese Impianti
"MultimediaValley - commenced under-secretary Boschi - is an opportunity for this territory because it will make the Festival live all over the year
becoming the beating heart and reference point for the creativity of the youths coming from all over the world
This is an important opportunity for future jobs
a beautiful image for the south of Italy: a dream known everywhere was born from the small town of Giffoni"
under-secretary Boschi also focused on the importance of the Festival for the growth of the youths
"Today - she confessed to the jurors in Sala Truffaut - I have made a dream come true: experiencing Giffoni Film Festival
I used to watch it on TV and I felt jealous because I wanted to be in their shoes
The GFF - she added - is a dream for adults too
we can't experience it with the same emotion and involvement of the youths
develop a passion for the topics proposed by the films
confront each other looking into their eyes
meet actors and film directors and make the most of this experience".
School is the living heart of Giffoni as well as the driving force of our country
A school that changes to develop young people’s prominence
That’s the meaning of Giuseppe Valditara’s – Ministry of Education and Merit – visit
Welcoming him to the Multimedia Valley there IS Claudio Gubitosi
the president of dell’Ente Autonomo Giffoni Experience
and Giffoni Valle Piana mayor Antonio Giuliano
The meeting with the young boys and girls was in Sala Blue
This meeting is part of the Safer Internet Centre – Generazioni Connesse activities
that the Ministry itself dedicated to cyber security with the partnership of several enterprises – among them Giffoni with the Youth Panel programme - who deal with internet safety
the minister said: “The most beautiful thing about Giffoni is the brilliant way it motivates its surrounding area
including the five hundred contracts made that translate into five hundred people as well
Young people should always be the main characters
mainly in schools.” What is being done about it
Amid the other actions the Ministry mentions the one on road safety education: “When Matteo Salvini (Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport) and I passed the plan
our wish was for young people to be witnesses
they can narrate their experiences and build an educational storyline
I discover the same feeling here and that’s also something modern.”
And Italy moves at two different rates: the north and the south seem to be on parallel lines
Valditara explains: “I said that’s morally unacceptable that Italy is split in half
We need to do something serious and important about it
And that’s why Agenda Sud is born: we have selected 240 schools on the verge of dispersion
from every grade.” This is an ambitious and experimental programme
and English – in these schools and for the first time we will allocate significant resources to extracurricular activities
which could be held in the afternoon or even in summer
there will be an extension of school time by introducing the full time.”
the questions focus on the often-controversial relationship between teacher and student
Valditara understands the young people’s point of view
but he must underline the value that the teaching body has today: ”Schools must teach two important principles: freedom – fundamental for building conscious citizens – and work
we have included financial education as a subject to make our youth even more conscious.” A teacher is a gateway to all this
a point of connection between school and society: “Teachers have nowadays little motivation
and the stress deriving from their job” – Valditara continues – “We ask them to be passionate about their job
During these months I have met with many teachers and principals that embody what is good about school
We just need to water the plant and it will be back in its former splendour.”
Valditara knows that it’s always been a sensitive subject
because teaching it’s not a highly remunerated job
he says: “Our first step toward this issue was sealing a better deal
We need to give more opportunities – like tutoring – and involve them in extracurricular activities – in the afternoon or in summer
We ask them for more and we pay them more so our talented children could become the backbone of our country
We need to take care of schools and teachers because theirs is the best job in the world
ensuring a young person’s future is the most beautiful thing to do”
something that for many years is on the mind of the Minister thanks to the Safer Internet Centre programme: “It’s an important action
making the internet safer for all; it’s a tool for democracy that could also be dangerous
The pillars of internet safety are fundamentally three: building a safe path and safe accessibility to it
to provoke young people’s creativity and imagination through a positive usage of the internet
I believe that this project is doing all this.”
New Technologies are boundaries to break down
in order to put them to use for the improvement of our educational programme
To do it it’s crucial to train both the teachers and the students
Infinites are the possibilities with this instrument
mostly regarding the customization of education
we decided to invest Pnrr (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) funds of 1.2 billion euros for the creation of digital labs
My dream is to use these structures for the modernisation of our teaching.” However
digital technologies can’t alter the essence of the school and its function: “School keeps being a teaching community
made of people and their interpersonal relationships
which are a crucial tool for the growth of young people
Our school is the school of June 2 (Italian Republic Day)
a school that fulfills our Constitution’s values.”
Sam Claflin is all smiles as he hits the blue carpet at the 2018 Giffoni Film Festival held on Monday (July 23) in Giffoni Valle Piana
The 32-year-old actor was in attendance in support of his film Adrift, which is set for release in Italian movie theatres on August 29th and also stars Shailene Woodley
and they also know that no one will judge them here: they can finally feel free and listened
I wish I had had the same opportunity when I was a child.”
“This is not a commonplace": it is perhaps the most suitable phrase to describe the men and women who have accompanied Giffoni's evolution over the past 50 years
capable of talking about the world to thousands of young people gathered in a small area of the Picentines
on the occasion of an important anniversary
the 89th birthday of Nobel proze Michail Gorbačëv
one cannot help remembering his visit to the Giffoni Film Festival in 1997
The presence of the former Soviet president in Giffoni was strongly desired by the director Claudio Gubitosi: "At the time of the perestroika - he recalls - his face was very popular
Gorbachev appeared every day on television and in newspapers
I realized how much his image affected the imagination of the youth and I decided that I had have him at my festival
Giffoni's stage is for young people to whom we have always tried to convey a sense of hope and certainty
his presence was a further opportunity to tell them about the great events of our time”
Michail Gorbachev arrived in Giffoni Valle Piana accompanied by his wife Raissa
in addition to a very large audience flocked from every corner of the province and the Campania region
the young jurors of the twenty-seventh edition
capable of transmitting all the warmth of a country ready to embrace a key figure of that time
Subdued by the questions and curiosities of young people about his favorite cinematographic works
Gorbachev expressed himself as follows: “I could talk about it until tomorrow
I have a portrait of Tarkovsky in my house
to thank me for what we have done to enhance his works
even if it often focuses more on business than on human values". And he continued: “I never thought of a film inspired by my books
but if it were to happen I would be happy to be rewarded by the youth of Giffoni
Here is the joy and spontaneity of the world "
The love for culture and art shown by the former Soviet president is enormous: "Literature
cinema are the greatest passions we have in the family: the most expert is our daughter Irina
it is she and Raissa who choose what to watch
but they are able to convince me quite easily”
Giffoni wants to take this opportunity to wish Michail Gorbachev a happy birthday
A fundamental man: "without him the Berlin wall would never have collapsed"
"If the wind of change had not started to blow from the Kremlin - adds the director - Perestrojka
that gentle revolution that allowed to change the fate of Europe and the world
his face crossed the curiosity of the jurors
to understand the difficult and sometimes obscure things behind the geopolitical balances"
It must reiterate the need to always testify the need for freedom as an irrepressible need for the human being
She arrived in the halls of Giffoni – in Sala Truffaut at the Cinema Citadel - shook many hands and did all the ritual shots
"A hug to all of you," she said addressing the jurors of the Generator +16 section
I came to tell you that we are there for you; that there is university
The great challenge is to have more and more researchers in our country
more and more people enrolled in the university
Keep creating ideas and have fun because this is a place where you can have it." She says this in front of Claudio Gubitosi
With him there are the president of the Ente Autonomo Giffoni Experience Pietro Rinaldi
and the mayor of Giffoni Valle Piana Antonio Giuliano
Following the minister is the general director Marcella Gargano
all of which do not escape Minister Bernini
What is indispensable to be in the world for kids today
She has no doubt: "Don't be afraid to make mistakes," she says
They must not think that a mistake will compromise their lives
The most important things in scientific research have been discovered by mistake
By this assumption: live your mistakes because by making them you learn and do better and better." And is Giffoni indispensable
"not only for the kids but also for us because it gives life lessons
Here there is a community that is not afraid to make mistakes
a community in which we learn to take responsibility from an early age." Today university is a challenge
since it is used to measure the degree of civilization of a country
an index of the quality of life of a state
"University with its innovative courses," she said
" must succeed in training young people in professions that only exist in part or not yet exists
we have taken up the challenge and decided to organize an Italian Erasmus that allows students to rotate among universities
refining their skills and making them more flexible
I say to the students that they should be proud of Italian research because the global strategic sectors speak Italian
the subjects of the future speak Italian." The right to study remains a priority and is divided into two major branches
"that the right to study is not only a word
I like to emphasize that among the first acts carried out we allowed for an increase in the Isee threshold
and the amount of the scholarships themselves
That is why we have seen some hardships in the regions
We have met with all the regional councillors on this point
In our first maneuver we allocated for this precise area 900 billion euros." In closing
the appeal to the students: "There is so much of positive happening," so she concluded
"without necessarily attributing merits to this government
The world is changing and 99 Italian universities are trying to adapt and keep up
Deans today are managers trying to manage the resources they have for the best
Do not forget that many good things are coming and that you are our challenge
She is at home at Giffoni and she had to be here for the fiftieth edition
The Deputy Mariastella Gelmini speaks about the emotions she feels for the fiftieth edition of the Festival
which happened despite the current situation
“It is an extraordinary edition that I could not miss
an edition that should not be taken for granted after the lockdown
resilience of our nation and of Southern Italy”
the president of Ente Autonomo Giffoni Experience
“As the director Gubitosi said - the Deputy Gelmini said - Giffoni is not to be celebrated
it is to be lived and I am here to live it
the context is complex but I can see that everything has been organised in total safety”
Italy restarts and so does school: “I am in Giffoni - the deputee continued - and therefore I want to be optimistic
As a matter of fact I believe that we will be able to start again this year
headmasters and the professionalism and enthusiasm of everyone working at school”
Maria Stella Gelmini’s speech is followed by the documentary dedicated to the fifty years of Giffoni
Eventually there were the final greetings of the young participants of Giffoni Impact at Sala Blu

Nicolas Cage accused girlfriend Erika Koike of planning to "take all my money" and shouted that her ex "is a druggy" in bizarre scenes ahead of their since-annulled wedding.
According to witnesses, the Hollywood actor was "out of it" and "most likely drunk" when he rocked up to the Clark County Court House Marriage Licence Bureau in Las Vegas at about 11am last Saturday.
"She has a drug dealer as a boyfriend," the 55 year old was seen telling amused clerks, before shouting, "I'm not doing it!"
Makeup artist Erika, 34, calmly replied, "I never asked you to," before Cage ushered her through to apply for their marriage licence.
The witness said: “They started by filling the application in one of the machines.
“The whole time he was yelling 'she is going to take all my money' and 'her ex is a druggy, her ex is a druggy'.'
“The woman only kept saying 'Baby, I am not asking you to do this’.”
They added that the couple was making such a scene that they were taken into a private room.
Cage and Erika, who was previously married, started dating around a year ago before tying the knot last Saturday. However, on Wednesday, he submitted documents to annul that marriage.
They have kept their relationship low-key, although they were spotted vacationing together in Puerto Rico in April 2018.
They were photographed together again in May of that year while out to dinner in Los Angeles.
Cage has been married three times before - to Alice Kim, Lisa Marie Presley and Patricia Arquette.
He and Kim were married from 2004 to 2016 and share a son Kal-El who was born in October 2005.Before that, Cage was wed in 2002 to Elvis' only child Lisa Marie, but the union lasted just three months.
His first marriage was to Escape at Dannemora actress Patricia Arquette,50, from 1995 until 2001.
Cage also has a son, Weston, 28, from his relationship with actress Christina Fulton.
In 1995, he won a Best Actor Academy Award for his role in the drama Leaving Las Vegas.
He starred as a Hollywood screenwriter, Ben Sanderson, who loses everything because of his alcoholism and decides to drink himself to death in Vegas.
