Read this week's magazine Agent Elena Giovinazzo and author Jason Reynolds are teaming up to found Heirloom Literary & Media Heirloom Literary & Media is still in its “very early stages,” Giovinazzo told PW but she hopes to take her and Reynolds’s “decade of shared experience and apply that to existing and new clients and do things a little bit differently.” Heirloom will be opening its doors to a variety of writers across ages and formats “We want to find incredible creators and help them grow their careers,” Giovinazzo said “I want to bring different ideas and different minds and creative disciplines into this melting pot to move things.” a former VP and senior agent at Pippin Properties and said she “felt ready for a new challenge.” She will take on the role of agent managing the everyday tasks of working with authors including previous clients such as Zoey Abbott Reynolds will be acting in a mentorship role offering his perspective as an author who has been through the publishing process several times over “I’m always around younger writers who are coming up and to know that there’s a different kind of possibility a different kind of framework to work within that’s interesting,” Reynolds said In the pair’s evolution from agent and client to co-founders of a business the trust built into their longstanding relationship is what has allowed them to branch off into this new venture “I think the way that we trust each other is our bread and butter,” Reynolds said—“my trust in our ability to do the gig Transforming an agent-author relationship into an agency is a unique take on agenting one that opens the possibility for “rejiggering things” in the publishing hierarchy “It’s always nice to break the ground,” Reynolds said “The interesting thing will be to see if people follow suit.” In terms of what comes next and whom Heirloom hopes to collaborate with “We want to work with people who want to work just as hard as we always have,” Giovinazzo said “If you’re going to be writing or illustrating at the top of your game that’s the kind of people we want to be in business with.” Puebloans may not have heard of Cream N Bean yet but the owner of the new ice cream and coffee shop inside Pueblo's Dillon Drive Walmart hopes to expand to many other Walmart Supercenters Located at 4200 Dillon Drive on the grocery side of Walmart right next to the Academy Bank branch The shop offers homemade rolled ice cream and Columbian coffee plus a variety of other beverages and their daughter and son-in-law Bailey and Roger Hines offer a different kind of ice cream and coffee shop where homemade ice cream is spread in a thin layer and then rolled on a cold plate 20 degrees below zero The shop also offers its own blend of medium-roast coffee that is shipped directly from a farm in Colombia "We make the ice cream base in-house using our own recipe It is made fresh every day and there are no preservatives so it is the healthiest way to eat ice cream," Joe Giovinazzo told the Chieftain The base ice cream is added to a cold plate and extra ingredients are "rolled" in like fresh strawberries while the customer watches the transformation The result features curled-up spiral rolls of ice cream that are as artistic as they are tasty Pueblo's favorite treat so far is the strawberry cheesecake featuring fresh strawberries vanilla ice cream and a graham cracker topping Each week the shop offers four new specials or customers can create their own ice cream delight by choosing from ingredients on hand "We hope customers will check back to see the specials and continue to try different flavors Business has been really good so far and we have several regulars," Joe Giovinzanno explained The biggest hurdle for the new business has been brand recognition plus those who spot the shop after waiting in line to check out their groceries may not have time to explore what's inside The house blend coffee is offered in lattes slushes and lemonades available for those who aren't coffee drinkers The family plans to open its Cream N Bean inside the Pueblo West Walmart The dream for the family is to one day see the Cream N Bean brand as plentiful inside Walmart stores as Starbucks is in Target stores The Giovinzannos moved to Pueblo 1 1/2 years ago They operated a similar rolled ice cream shop in Oklahoma but the location wasn't ideal "When I saw that Walmart had an opening I thought that would be a great location that has a lot of traffic It took about eight months to get everything ironed out with Walmart," Giovinzanno said Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. "Do you want to plead guilty to that charge," reiterated Satterfield Satterfield then asked Giovinazzo a series of questions to determine whether she understood the conditions of the plea and if Giovinazzo was making the decision to plead guilty on her own "You do understand that you may have to testify against the co-defendent (Jacob Hoyt) in this case?" asked Satterfield Satterfield told Giovinazzo that by pleading guilty she would be waiving her right to a jury trial and her rights to contest the charge three and four for a successful guilty plea on count one," said Satterfield "You can and will be sentenced to 25 years in prison to life." The second count was arson for knowingly damaging a Ford Focus by fire or explosion The third count was felony theft of a 2010 Toyota Corolla and the fourth count was theft of an Emprise Bank debit card and candy with a total value between $1,000 and $25,000 After making sure Giovinazzo understood what she was doing by pleading guilty Satterfield asked her to stand and tell the court what she had done on Dec "Tell me what your activity was that caused the death of Loyce Cody." "We were standing outside the door," said Giovinazzo "You held her down while he suffocated her," asked Satterfield Giovinazzo also answered in the affirmative when Satterfield asked if Hoyt and Giovinazzo had discussed killing Cody before they did "You held her down until you believed she was dead," said Satterfield "So there was a plan between you and Jake to kill Ms "I do find Lyndsey Renee Giovinazzo guilty of murder in the first degree," said Satterfield "I'm going to set this case for sentencing on Monday September 17 at 2 p.m." "It's a step in the right direction for the victims to get closure," Devinney said after the hearing Giovinazzo's co-defendent has not yet had a preliminary hearing No Film School: I notice a little French Connection in Combat Shock were you thinking about it while directing NFS: We look back at movies like Pink Flamingos and Combat Shock and there's a lot of nostalgia for those times now when movies and cities were covered in a layer of grime especially now that our genre films are so much less gritty NFS: Combat Shock does try to showcase a lot of that danger but it's almost a complete anomaly because it's dark and it's gritty but it's also hilarious NFS: You've worked a lot in Berlin in the years since Combat Shock was that somewhere in the back of your mind when you moved there for work there's a little French Connection in that with the car chase on the busy streets NFS: You worked with Udo in a roundabout sort of way on the omnibus film The Theatre Bizarre (2011) You're once again dealing with romantic bonds getting you in trouble as you do in Combat Shock and No Way Home not knowing when to say no to people who mean something to you NFS: Fassbinder loved to talk about that as well NFS: What about the ending ripped you apart NFS: Tell me about what it was like releasing Combat Shock NFS: How did that compare to the last film you made NFS: So distribution hasn't changed all that much then A look at how the Blackmagic Camera app was used by hundreds of fans to help KoЯn create a dynamic and immersive concert documentary that’s a band name I probably haven’t seen or thought about since the days of watching MTV’s Total Request Live when I got home from middle school in the mid-2000s Blackmagic Design has shared a cool story about how one of the most popular nu-metal groups from their day used hundreds of fans to help them create a pretty kick-ass rock concert documentary Armed with Blackmagic Camera apps on their smartphones over 200 KoЯn fans served as assistant camera operators on a recent documentary that captured the band’s 30th-anniversary concert in action Let’s look at some fun behind-the-scenes tidbits about how this was pulled off As a celebration of the American metal band’s 30th anniversary concert set up a unique workflow using the Blackmagic Camera app and Blackmagic Cloud to turn hundreds of fans into assistant camera operators it actually sounds like a pretty simple process thanks to the ease of use with the Blackmagic Camera app which can be downloaded on both iPhone and Android smartphones and is free to download and use the real trick was working with all of the footage and data collected by the fans with the goal of editing together a seamless story and experience from the concert You can find out more about the project—as well as further learn how Blackmagic Design played a pivotal role in its development, capture, and edit—on Blackmagic’s website here The former 90210 star initially filed for divorce in August 2012 citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split Vanessa Marcil files for divorce Giovinazzo was Marcil's second husband. Patch previously reported on the divisive issue with some in the community worried the development would bring extra noise and in other ways negatively affect the neighborhood Wawa ultimately won that battle, however, after a judge ruled the Zoning Hearing Board had acted improperly when it denied the project Giovinazzo used the experience as a catalyst to get more involved in the community When a vacancy opened up on the Zoning Hearing Board She was serving as co-chair of the board at the time of her death She was also integral in starting the recently created Zoning Subcommittee which was formed in response to the Wawa situation and tasked with reviewing the borough’s entire zoning code dedicated to her family and her community,” State Rep God bless her and her courageous journey.” Guenst was Hatboro’s mayor before she got elected to the state House of Representatives The courageous journey Guenst references dates back to 2017 when Giovinazzo was first diagnosed with breast cancer Giovinazzo managed to maintain her management role with a growing manufacturing business as well as continuing to take care of her family according to a bio on the website for the Hatboro Democrats Her LinkedIn page says Giovinazzo had been senior materials manager at Horsham-based AWE Tuning for the past six-plus years she served as supervisor of materials for the company for close to a decade Her bio on the local Democrats website said Giovinazzo was the right person for the borough council spot because of her dedication to the community and knowhow when it came to local decision-making “Tina’s extensive leadership experience and her passion for teamwork make her the right candidate for the Borough Council,” the website wrote “Her years of service to her community have prepared her to make well-informed decisions for Hatboro and continue to work toward a shared vision of our future,” the site continued she will act as the voice of our residents striving to provide the highest quality of life and making decisions based on the interests of the community Giovinazzo was also chair of the Hatboro Historic Commission president of the Hatboro Resident's Association which is a program that partners with schools businesses and individuals to help fill weekend hunger gaps to local children Funeral arrangements and additional information can found in Giovinazzo's complete obituary. One-time bankrupt mining prospector Anton Billis was once so close to his friend, convicted fraudster Michael Giovinazzo loaned him tens of thousands of dollars for legal issues and even “generously” gave him a Nissan Patrol for free But that 25-year friendship is now in tatters being pored over in the Victorian Supreme Court having broken down over an investment in a micro-cap ASX-listed company Resources – a company Giovinazzo co-founded but was unable to act as director for because he had once been incarcerated for fraud – entered into a commercial agreement with the publicly listed Rimfire Pacific Mining which was at the time barely trading for 1¢ a share would pay $4.5 million to Rimfire over three years for a 50.1 per cent stake in a mining project Golden Plains Resources agreed to pay $7.5 million for another mining project But Giovinazzo did not have that type of money who a year earlier had loaned him $14,600 for a legal bill according to documents filed in the Supreme Court Justice Michael Osborne is now being asked to rule on whether Billis loaned Giovinazzo $3.8 million over a two-year period that would be repaid in return for a majority shareholding in Golden Plains Resources Giovinazzo was a man possessed of ambition but bereft of the resources required to pursue commercial opportunities such as those embodied in the Fifield agreements,” Billis’ barrister Damien McAloon wrote in his closing submissions “He lacked the collateral that would enable him to borrow funds from third-party commercial lenders the value of which could not be objectively determined.” Giovinazzo had turned to Billis several times to help repay his Rimfire deal Giovinazzo told the court that Billis never directly transferred the money to him and the funds were paid either to his company At the heart of the court stoush now between the two long-term friends and mining prospectors is who has control over Golden Plain Resources which has tripled in value since Giovinazzo struck his initial deal Giovanazzo claimed his long-term friend was attempting to “steal” his company and exert more pressure on the board and directors of Rimfire Giovinazzo has claimed Billis was given shares in other companies as a security to advance the funds to help him pay his agreement with Rimfire and that he had become a non-beneficial shareholder in Golden Plains Resources Billis claimed he was under the impression that he was a beneficial shareholder of Golden Plains Resources The friendship had become incredibly tense over that period broke down in 2022 when they finalised a repayment deed Giovinazzo told the court various drafts of the deed were circulated between the pair “each of which contemplated by one means or another that the [Golden Plains Resources] shares would be returned to [his] control upon repayment” Billis claimed he had only just been made aware his shares in the company were not held beneficially while Giovinazzo claimed his long-term friend was attempting to “steal” his company and exert more pressure on the board and directors of Rimfire “Mr Billis was an unreliable witness,” Giovinazzo’s lawyers wrote in their closing submission “He had a very poor recollection of the key events in the proceeding He was frequently confused as to the dates and order of events and gave frequently contradictory evidence.” Golden Plains Resources has a 4 per cent stake in Rimfire aghast at Billis’ potential control of the company Ahead of the most recent annual general meeting in which Billis put up resolutions to appoint two new board members the board will comprise a majority of directors nominated solely by Mr Billis,” they told investors “The board considers that this is not good corporate governance and gives Mr Billis the potential to control the business and operations of the company without him paying a premium for that control.” Eighty-five per cent of shareholders voted Billis’ motion down Billis declined to comment as the case players Giovinazzo was presented with the Richey Award at the 2012 Women’s National Team Championships (Howe Cup) Giovinazzo was a national champion by the end of her first year of collegiate play She played a key role in Princeton’s thrilling 5-4 win over Harvard in the 2009 national championship finals the Tigers narrowly edged Trinity in the semifinals and Giovinazzo’s five-game win at #9 helped Princeton secure a berth in the finals Here is how GoPrincetonTigers.com described Giovinazzo’s performance in the championship final against Harvard: who has shown composure beyond her years all season Coming off her only five-game match of the season in the semifinal she won the first two games before dropping the third game 9-7 “This match was more difficult and had more pressure then the one last week,” Giovinazzo said I knew I had to go back to basics and use my length to keep her behind me then go short when I had the opportunity.” That strategy earned her a match ball at 8-7 but Ali Zindman fought it off and evened the game at 8-8 the Tiger freshman maintained her undefeated record by regaining serve and winning the next points to clinch the match The qualities that stood out in Giovinazzo’s play as a first-year — composure a commitment to team — remained constants throughout her career at Princeton playing as high as #2 during her senior season Giovinazzo helped lead Princeton to a fourth-place finish at the 2012 Women’s National Team Championships (Howe Cup) and the Tigers never finished the season out of the top five during her time with the team While Giovinazzo’s greatest contributions have been to her team the women’s B Draw at the Individual Championships “Katie is so deserving of this award,” head coach Gail Ramsay told GoPrincetonTigers.com “She has exhibited great sportsmanship and has been an outstanding leader for her teammates I was so excited to see her receive this prestigious award from her squash peers and the College Squash Association coaches.” Giovinazzo is the fourth Princeton player to win the Richey Award and the first to earn the distinction since Julia Beaver won in 2001 The College Squash Association (CSA) is the
