SPOKANE, Wash. -- Former Arizona State guard Adam Miller is transferring to Gonzaga
saying Miller has signed a financial aid agreement
Gonzaga will be the fourth school for Miller
an Illinois native who has scored 1,206 points in 117 games for Arizona State
Miller started all 30 games for Arizona State last season
averaging 9.8 points and shooting 42.9% from 3-point range

The Zags landed size and scoring on Friday
Gonzaga’s 2025–26 roster got a major boost with the official additions of Parker Jefferson and Adam Miller—two signings that offer immediate upside and long-term value in very different ways
But with recent changes to rules regarding athletic scholarship allocations
only 10 of Gonzaga’s 15 guaranteed roster spots are currently spoken for
but the Zags still have plenty of time to keep building things out
235-pound forward originally from Texas who played his high school ball in Southern California
recently flipped his commitment from Minnesota and signed on to join the Zags after his visit to campus on Thursday
He’s the kind of frontcourt prospect Gonzaga has made a habit of developing: strong frame
a feel for the game that’s well ahead of most bigs his age
he made it official before even leaving campus
Go Zags https://t.co/hOB3j9IWAR
a seasoned guard who arrives in Spokane by way of Arizona State
and a reputation as a confident shooter capable of playing on or off the ball
For a backcourt that needed experience and shot creation
NEWS: Arizona State transfer guard Adam Miller has committed to Gonzaga, he tells @On3sports. The 6-foot-3 senior averaged 9.8 points per game this season. He began his college career at Illinois, spent one season at LSU, and played the last two years at Arizona State.… pic.twitter.com/8T8voeoGKo
Gonzaga now has 10 scholarship players locked in for next season—and a clearer sense of what the rotation could look like
There’s still room (and need) for at least one more guard
We’ll break down what Jefferson and Miller bring
and what still needs to happen before this roster is ready to roll
Gonzaga’s frontcourt was already in a great spot heading into the summer
but landing Parker Jefferson only tightens the screws
235-pound big man originally committed to Minnesota before flipping to the Zags late in the cycle—and it’s easy to see why the staff made him a priority
and probably a lot more versatile than he’s getting credit for
As a senior at Inglewood High School in Southern California
He was named to the Ocean League All-First Team and finished the year ranked No
that reads like a classic Olynyk Clinic candidate—exactly the type of multi-year big Gonzaga would typically redshirt
Jefferson is already bigger and more physically developed than most of the guys who’ve done time in the Clinic
He doesn’t necessarily need to bulk up or figure out how to hold his own inside—he already can
which immediately bumps his stock in a rotation that still needs perimeter scoring
There’s real upside here for playing Jefferson as a stretch four
perhaps coming off the bench for Braden Huff
or even a big-bodied wing if the shot keeps coming along
The staff could slow-play his development and bring him along in the Drew Timme mold: let him live on the block
and become a nightmare matchup down low over time
But they could also decide to roll him out off the bench from day one—because
this team could use shooting wherever it can find it
this is a long-term win with real short-term intrigue
Gonzaga’s frontcourt just got a little deeper
four of Gonzaga’s five starting spots are all but locked in—and the Zags just got a major dose of experience
Miller has started 113 of his 117 career games and scored over 1,200 points in that span
And after years of bouncing between systems that never fully unlocked him
he might finally be landing in the right one

Miller averaged 9.8 points per game last season and shot a blistering 42.9% from deep—by far the best clip of his career and exactly what Gonzaga needed after a rough year from beyond the arc
poured in 18 against eventual national champion Florida
and had a six-game stretch in late January and early February where he averaged nearly 15 points a night
came just before Arizona State completely fell apart down the stretch and that average dropped to below 5 points per game for the season’s last leg
Miller’s late-season scoring dip came as Arizona State’s offense completely unraveled
The team couldn’t space the floor or move the ball
and Miller—often forced to create in isolation—was left taking tough shots in a system that just stopped working
Now he steps into a program designed to get 2-guards open looks in rhythm
but there’s a path—like we saw with Nolan Hickman last season—where he slides over to the 1 when Braeden Smith needs a rest
It would give Gonzaga a different tempo at the top and allow the coaching staff to rotate other wings like Warley
especially if they want to experiment with lineups early in the season
A name to monitor for Illinois fans: Arizona State transfer Adam Miller. The 6’3” guard averaged 10.0 PPG, 2.3 RPG, and 2.0 APG this season while shooting 43% from three.A former Illini and proven shot-maker who could bring a familiar spark back to Champaign. pic.twitter.com/mooqf5zOmT
Steele Venters was supposed to be that guy two years ago—a long
high-volume shooter out of Eastern Washington with ideal size and deep range
But after two consecutive season-ending injuries
he hasn’t played a minute of college basketball since 2022
The starting 5 is locked in and the Zags are ready to roll
Gonzaga still has a lot of pieces to play with—but spacing becomes a much trickier puzzle to solve
and slash in spurts and has the added benefit of having spent the bulk of last season with the team
But he hasn’t suited up since transferring from Virginia
and we haven’t yet seen what kind of role he can carve out in a Gonzaga offense
OH MY GOODNESS JALEN WARLEY‼️‼️‼️ RSN#SCTop10 pic.twitter.com/gQmNkNTsnd
Emmanuel Innocenti is the only returning backcourt player who logged real minutes last season
positionally sound—and should carve out a clear role by season’s end
and his offensive game is still a work in progress (though I

He shot the cover off the ball in high school
But he’s never played at the college level
and the transition from promising prospect to nightly contributor doesn’t happen overnight
4⭐️ Gonzaga commit Davis Fogle led his squad with 18 PTS to help AZ Compass get the dub on Day 3️⃣ at the Montverde Inv. @AZCompass_Prep I @davisfogle4 pic.twitter.com/I1rQ9t0f0e
If the staff feels good about Venters’ health
don’t be surprised if they’re still scanning the portal for one more scoring threat on the wing—ideally someone with lots of experience in college who can shoot it and hold their own defensively at the 2 or 3
Braeden Smith is expected to take over as Gonzaga’s starting point guard after a year of learning the system behind Ryan Nembhard
That’s about as ideal a runway as you could hope for—Smith’s a proven winner
and he’s spent a full season getting acclimated to the way Few wants things run
That’s a problem Few and his staff are well aware of
The Zags need another ball-handler—someone who can stabilize the offense
and ideally knock down open shots when Smith is off the floor
Whether that player is more of a true one or a combo doesn’t matter as much as whether they can run the show when called upon
The name that’s been linked most consistently is Mario Saint-Supery
an 18-year-old Spanish guard with creativity
He’s held his own against grown pros in Spain and has the kind of upside that usually doesn’t stay on the board this late
He’d give the Zags a dynamic bench option right away and could grow into much more
Saint-Supery is not just set to be Krajnovic 2.0
the dude’s an absolute hooper and would make a big difference for the Zags right away if they can bring him in
6’3 Mario Saint Supery has put together quite a memorable season as a 18 year old in the ACBMario is currently averaging 7.3 PPG, 2.8 APG In the ACB playing against former NCAA stars and NBA players Mario averaged 21.7 PPG, 5.6 RPG and 6.6 APG in U18s.As of now, it’s… pic.twitter.com/LsPdGvCe0a
Another name that’s surfaced is Desmond Claude
the USC transfer who recently hit the portal after the Trojans brought in Maryland guard Rodney Rice
Claude has been casually linked to Gonzaga
physical combo guard with experience and a developing outside shot
But Florida is rumored to be the frontrunner
and given Gonzaga’s recent addition of Miller
it’s hard to imagine the Zags putting together an NIL offer that can compete
the search continues—whether through the portal
and whoever fills it will be stepping into one of the most demanding roles in college basketball
With ten scholarship spots filled and two key additions in the fold
The backcourt now has a veteran bucket-getter in Adam Miller and a lead guard in Braeden Smith who’s had a full year to study the system and learn from one of the best to ever run it at Gonzaga
But the scale of what they lost can’t be ignored
and now Miller—that’s good enough to win a lot of games
and there’s still time to fill in the rest

Jefferson is a 6'10 center who previously committed to Minnesota before decommitting in late March and joining the the Zags after visiting campus this week
Miller is a 6'3 guard who began his career at Illinois before a year at LSU and two at Arizona State - including last season where he shot 42.9% from the three point line
The pair of newcomers give the Zags ten scholarship players as of this writing
coach Few's starting lineup and rotation is nearly locked in
giving us a more clear look at what this team might look like during the 2025-26 season
Below is a look at Gonzaga's projected starting lineup and rotation
plus what other moves could be made between now and November when the Zags embark on their final season in the WCC
SF: Jalen Warley (7.5 PPG in 2023-24 at Florida State)
SG: Adam Miller (9.8 PPG last year at Arizona State)
PG: Braeden Smith (12.5 PPG in 2023-24 at Colgate)
The pairing of Ike and Huff in the starting lineup didn't happen until the final three games of Gonzaga's season
It was done first as a way to counter the size of Saint Mary's in the WCC championship
The team deployed the lineup again in a blowout win over Georgia in the first round of the NCAA Tournament
and once more in the team's season-ending loss to eventual runner-up Houston
There's no reason these two won't start together again this upcoming season
Warley is a point forward type who doesn't do a ton of scoring but is a great facilitator and defender
using his disruptive length and high basketball IQ to make plays
Miller is a well-travelled guard who spent time at Illinois
where he averaged 9.8 points while shooting 42.9% from three last year for the Sun Devils
His history as an outside shooter is a bit spotty
but he's always been a good scorer and should fit nicely as a veteran addition for the Zags backcourt
Smith spent last year redshirting as the point guard in waiting behind Nembhard
and the Colgate transfer who averaged 12.5 points and 5.6 assists while winning Patriot League Player of the Year will be an outstanding replacement at the one
6'7 wing Steele Venters (15.3 PPG in 20223-23 at Eastern Washington)
6'5 guard Emmanuel Innocenti (1.7 PPG last year)
7'0 center Ismaila Diagne (3.4 PPG last year)
6'7 wing Davis Fogle (No. 32 in ESPN Top 100 for 2025 class)
164 in 247Sports Composite Rankings for 2025 class)
If Steele Venters is healthy the sharpshooter could be a perfect 'addition' to the Zags
after he agonizingly sat two consecutive seasons with knee and foot injuries
ultimately he's very similar to Warley and best served as a key bench piece for coach Few and the Zags
He provides tenacious on-ball defense and while his offensive game is still developing
Diagne showcased incredible upside against Santa Clara late in the regular season
and his tremendous athleticism and size make him an extremely tantalizing piece of this roster
and one who should see more playing time as a sophomore behind the two bigs
WA and grew from 6'2 to 6'7 while in high school which ballooned his stock from unheralded high schooler to top 50 prospect
How much he plays in year one depends on what Gonzaga does in the transfer portal
but as of now he'd be at the back of Gonzaga's rotation
Jefferson is a mobile big man prospect with plus floor vision
the exact type of player Gonzaga has developed extremely well in coach Few's soon-to-be Hall of Fame tenure in Spokane
but if he puts his time in he could be a future star in Spokane
Adding Miller and Jefferson filled two key holes for Gonzaga
but with five scholarship spots remaining fans can expect at least 1-2 more additions before the season begins
A backup point guard seems like a safe bet to be acquired at some point this offseason
That could be a veteran transfer looking for a winning program
a young transfer looking to develop - much like Smith did this past season - or even an incoming freshman
either a still uncommitted high schooler or an international prospect looking to come stateside to play college basketball
Gonzaga's need for more depth on the wing is dependant on the health of Venters
If there is concern about his ability to play real minutes this season
coach Few and the staff could remain on the market for more depth at the 2-3 spots - likely targeting players who are able to knock down outside shots
Gonzaga's three point shooting last year was the worst mark of the KenPom era
and if Venters cannot provide consistent floor spacing the team will need more than just Miller contributing from beyond the arc
the roster is fairly well set heading into what should be a fun season in Spokane in 2025-26
they’ll be seeing a whole lot more of the 6-foot-3 sharpshooter — this time in a more favorable set of threads after Miller committed to Gonzaga via the transfer portal on Friday
posted a photo of himself in a Gonzaga uniform on Instagram
Precisely 39 days after the first rounds of player movement made their way through the sport
the Zags landed their first commit of the 2025 transfer portal cycle in Miller
who’s set to join his fourth school in a five-year span
Gonzaga was one of the few high-major programs that had yet to sign a transfer heading into May
that list includes just Stanford and Marquette
every school except Saint Mary's has landed at least one transfer out of the portal
A former four-star recruit, Miller began his career near his hometown of Peoria, Illinois, with Brad Underwood and Illinois in 2020. Miller spent the past two seasons playing for Bobby Hurley and the Sun Devils
appearing in 53 games and making 51 starts during his time in Tempe
2.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists while shooting 42.9% from 3-point range
Miller transferred to LSU after his freshman season at Illinois
but had to take a redshirt year when he suffered an ACL injury during a preseason practice with the Tigers
Miller rejoined LSU in 2022-23 to average 11.5 points
Miller was also a teammate of former Gonzaga star Chet Holmgren on the 2021 USA U19 World Cup team that took home a gold medal
Gonzaga’s roster now features two players who’ve been named Illinois’ Mr
Basketball; the other being redshirt junior Braden Huff
who earned the honor in 2022 prior to joining the Bulldogs
Gonzaga’s media team confirmed Huff and his frontcourt mate Graham Ike will return to Spokane for the 2025-26 season
just hours before the deadline to enter the portal passed on April 22 at midnight
Along with that two-headed monster up front
the Bulldogs also brought back Colgate transfer Braeden Smith to run point after taking a redshirt year; Emmanuel Innocenti rounds out the backcourt rotation for now with Miller
Virginia transfer Jalen Warley is also set to make his Gonzaga debut in the fall
who missed the past two seasons due to injury
Incoming freshman Davis Fogle will join the ranks as one of the Zags’ highest-rated recruits in recent memory
A post shared by Adam Miller (@acewolf44)
Adding Miller to the mix will provide the Zags with another reliable 3-point shooter out on the perimeter. The Bulldogs’ 35.4% mark from 3-point range last season was their lowest conversion rate from downtown in the Few-era, and after losing their top five 3-point shooters this offseason, it was certainly evident heading into the spring that Few and his staff needed to reel in proven 3-point shooters to fill the backcourt/wing positions.
Miller knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and recorded three rebounds, three assists and eight points as Gonzaga pulled away from Arizona State down the stretch for an 88-80 victory on Nov. 10 at the Kennel. He also had a pair of treys to finish with 16 points in the Sun Devils’ win over Santa Clara, the game prior to their trip to Spokane.

The date and broadcast information for that game have not been made public yet.
Miller's commitment comes hours after the Bulldogs landed 6-foot-10 recruit Parker Jefferson, a top-25 center prospect in the class of 2025.

Parker Jefferson, a 6-foot-10 center in the 2025 class, has committed to Gonzaga
The three-star senior out of Inglewood High School (CA) took an official visit to the Zags this week and decided to pledge to Mark Few and the staff while on campus
Jefferson discussed his commitment to Gonzaga with On3
all I was hearing was ‘You’re a Gonzaga type of guy’
“Now that I finally got to get to campus and meet the staff
I look forward to seeing The Kennel rocking this year
and i’m excited to be playing under such an incredible coach in Coach Few
Jefferson was originally committed to Minnesota, but reopened his recruitment earlier this month after the Gophers’ coaching change. Prior to his commitment to Minnesota, he also considered USC.

Jefferson, a native of Texas, is the nation’s No. 150 overall prospect, No. 12 center and No. 20 recruit from California in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
“Parker Jefferson has good size with a frame that projects as he continues to mature. He has good hands, very passer friendly, and can receive passes in traffic. His range extends beyond the three-point line with consistency. The athleticism will be a question, but he is still young with a September 2006 birthday. As he continues to grow, there is a skill and IQ foundation to build on. His mother played at Arkansas.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw

Gonzaga got a good look at Adam Miller when the guard competed alongside Chet Holmgren on United States’ gold-medal winning team at the 2021 FIBA U-19 World Cup – a tournament that also featured future Zags Ryan Nembhard and Jun Seok Yeo
Miller played in front of Mark Few’s coaching staff again last season when his Arizona State made the trip north last November to face Gonzaga in a nonconference game at McCarthey Athletic Center
The familiarity on both sides made Gonzaga a natural landing spot for the well-traveled Miller
who gave the Zags their first transfer addition of the offseason by signing a financial aid agreement with Few’s program on Friday
One more run,” Miller posted on his social media platforms upon announcing his commitment
The guard gave Gonzaga its second roster addition of the day
committing to the Zags hours after high school center and former Minnesota signee Parker Jefferson pledged to Few’s program
is making Gonzaga his final stop after spending one season at Illinois (2020-21)
two at LSU (2021-23) – one of which was spent redshirting after an ACL injury – and the last two at Arizona State (2023-25)
190-pound guard didn’t compete during the 2021-22 season and is able to return for a fifth year of eligibility through a COVID-19 waiver given to everyone who competed during the 2020-21 season
Miller’s announcement comes on the heels of Gonzaga learning it would return its two top frontcourt pieces
who jointly announced they’d be back for the 2025-26 season hours before the deadline for players to enter the transfer portal
the Zags were just one of three programs at the high-major level without an incoming transfer
The fifth-year guard should help stabilize Gonzaga’s backcourt after losing three starting guards in Ryan Nembhard
Nolan Hickman and Khalif Battle to graduation
and reserve Dusty Stromer to the transfer portal
Miller has been a primary starter at all three of his previous schools
starting in 113 of 117 career games and all 30 last season at Arizona State
The veteran guard not only fills a positional need for Gonzaga
but gives Few’s team a reliable option from the perimeter
Last season the Zags finished with one of their lowest 3-point percentages (35.4%) under the 26th-year coach
Miller is coming off his most accurate season from behind the arc
He shot a personal-best 44.9% from the field last year with the Sun Devils and brings a career free throw shooting clip of 78.9% to Gonzaga
Miller started and played 30 minutes for ASU in an 88-80 loss at Gonzaga on Nov
finishing with eight points on 3 of 10 from the field and 2 of 7 from the 3-point line
The guard will return to Tempe as an opponent this season when GU visits ASU for the second game of a home-and-home between the programs
native was a four-star prospect coming out of Chicago’s Morgan Park High School
FIBA U-19 team that won gold in Latvia and one of three players
who averaged more than 20 minutes per game during the 2021 World Cup
Miller totaled 7.4 ppg and was second on the team at 3.6 apg
scoring 12 points to go with four rebounds and three steals in the gold medal game to help guide the U.S
Holmgren expressed excitement upon learning of Miller’s commitment to GU
Gonzaga may still look to add depth at the guard and wing positions
Former Colgate transfer Braeden Smith is the top candidate to take over point guard duties from Nembhard
but the Zags have two other backcourt starting spots to fill with the departures of Hickman and Battle

making the NCAA Tournament every year since 1999 and going to nine straight Sweet 16's with a pair of national championship appearances - all done primarily without the luxury of blue chip prospects out of high school.
but for the most part the Zags have relied on developing talent across multiple years
and scouring the transfer and international market to unearth hidden gems
That doesn't mean Few and the Zags aren't pursuing the very best of the best
as evidenced by their interest in the number one ranked recruit in the 2026 class in Tyran Stokes
A report from ESPN's Paul Biancardi indicated Stokes has plans to visit Gonzaga as well as Oregon and Arkansas
He's already visited Kansas and Kentucky and has another visit to Lexington scheduled May 15-17
The rising senior attends the same high school, Notre Dame, as former Zag guard Dusty Stromer
and Gonzaga's familiarity with the coaching staff over there can't hurt them on the recruiting trail
Stokes is a 6'7 wing with exceptional athleticism and physicality
who has proven himself as more than just an explosive dunker with his strong playmaking skills
rebounding and flexibility on both ends allowed him to be a dominant force this season," Notre Dame coach Matt Sargent said
"His growth as a leader and focused competitor is where he really shined toward the end of the season."
1 recruit in the country before in Holmgren
and while Kansas and Kentucky are the favorites right now - with Arkansas making a push under coach Calipari - coach Few and the Zags will pull out all the stops to try to get Stokes out to Spokane where he would thrive in Gonzaga's high octane offense
After Mark Few and his staff returned several key pieces from a Sweet 16 team
the Bulldogs entered the fall with serious aspirations of claiming their first national championship
But those hopes dwindled as the Zags struggled to close out pivotal games against their marquee competition
in addition to a couple of discouraging losses to West Coast Conference foes
Gonzaga persevered to claim the conference tournament championship and an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament
where it lost to national title runner-up Houston in the second round as a No
Their streak of nine straight Sweet 16 appearances broken
23 in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll released in early April — five months after being slotted at No
Meanwhile, the WCC team that beat the Bulldogs twice in the regular season — the Gaels — earned an "A" grade from Metcalf, who noted that the developments of Mitchell Saxen and Augustas Marciulionis were key in helping Saint Mary's (29-6) claim its sixth WCC regular season title under Randy Bennett.
Penny Hardaway's Tigers also received an "A" grade. Despite firing four assistant coaches in September, Memphis rode the coattails of Tyrese Hunter and PJ Haggerty all the way to 29 wins in 2024-25, the program's most victories in a single campaign since 2012-13.
Creighton, St. John's and Xavier were among the select group of "A"-caliber teams. DePaul, after increasing its year-end win total from three in to 14, was in the "B" group with Georgetown, which doubled its win total in Ed Cooley's second season at the helm.
Marquette, UConn and Villanova joined the Zags in the "C" group. Butler, Providence and Seton Hall — three teams that finished in the bottom four of the Big East standings — received "D" grades from Metcalf.

The moves give Gonzaga ten scholarship players heading into the 2025-26 season, and make projecting the team's starting lineup and rotation much easier after losing seven players from last year's squad
The Zags aren't done tinkering with the roster
with five open scholarships and a need for a backup point guard to redshirt Braeden Smith and a backup power forward to help keep Graham Ike
It's unlikely Gonzaga will make a huge splash, but both the international and transfer portal market are swimming with potential under-the-radar additions that could bolster an already solid roster as the Zags look to dominate the WCC one final time before moving to the Pac-12 in 2026-27

Below is a look at three potential options Gonzaga could purse at power forward who fit the team's needs
starting with a former all-conference forward with an elite outside shot:
Cade Tyson was one of the hottest available names in the transfer portal
He was coming off his sophomore season at Belmont where he earned All Missouri Valley conference honors by averaging 16.2 points and shooting a blistering hot 46.5% from beyond the arc on over five attempts per game
Tyson's lone season in Chapel Hill with the Tar Heels went incredibly poorly
as he averaged under eight minutes per game and shot just 29.2% from three
a huge cry from the 80 made threes he had the previous season at Belmont
Tyson is the ultimate reclamation project in the transfer portal
and if the Zags believe the 6'7 rising senior is capable of finding the magic that made him one of the best mid-major scorers in the country in 2023-24 they should absolutely bring him into the fold
but adding more floor spacing will only help Graham Ike and Braden Huff dominate down on the block for Gonzaga in 2025-26
Nemeiksa is a 6'7 forward who played in Lithuania for Zalgiris before coming stateside and beginning his college career at Xavier in the Big East
where he averaged 5.2 points and 4.2 rebounds while shooting 36.4% from three in 18.5 minutes per game for the Musketeers in 2023-24
Nemeiksa hit the portal and landed in Hawaii where he shouldered a bigger offensive load
averaging 12.3 points and 5.6 rebounds while taking nearly twice as many field goal attempts despite playing just 22.8 minutes per night
Gonzaga has a rich history of developing eastern European talent
and ability to space the floor would make him an ideal final piece to GU's frontcourt for 2025-26
Zanki is another eastern European who could appeal to Gonzaga
and he wouldn't have to move very far after spending the past two seasons in Cheney at Eastern Washington
Croatia - the same town as former Zag Luka Krajnovic - and at 6'8 he'd be an ideal developmental forward for the Zags to play with
Last season for the Eagles Zanki averaged 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds in 16.6 minutes per game
taking 65% of his shot attempts from beyond the three point line
While his 32.7% clip leaves some to be desired
a big who can space the floor and has room to develop is hardly the worst player the Zags could bring in to round out the frontcourt

Steele Venters is poised to become the most compelling wild card on Gonzaga’s roster heading into the 2025-2026 college basketball season
Venters hasn’t appeared in a live college game since March 19
an eternity in a sport where rhythm and confidence mean everything
The 6-foot-7 wing missed the entire 2023-24 season with a torn ACL
then worked tirelessly to return for 2024-25
only to suffer another cruel blow: a torn Achilles tendon
back-to-back season-ending injuries would be career-altering
Venters was one of the most lethal perimeter threats in the country
knocking down nearly 44% of his three-point attempts
His silky shooting stroke and high basketball IQ earned him Big Sky Player of the Year honors and put him on the national radar as a mid-major star ready to make the leap
Gonzaga won’t ask him to carry the load
Mark Few and the coaching staff are well-stocked with capable scorers and versatile starters
and Braden Huff offers the talent and positional flexibility to more than likely fill the 2
Gonzaga doesn't need Venters to be a starter
a veteran presence who can come off the bench
and change the dynamic of a game in spurts
If Venters can give the Bulldogs just 15-plus quality minutes per night and recapture even a portion of his peak form
he could swing the balance of power in marquee matchups and deep tournament runs
Venters’ value isn’t limited to his offensive output
His size and length allow him to switch defensively and contest shots on the perimeter
making him a valuable piece in the Zags’ rotational schemes
give Gonzaga yet another locker room leader
Gonzaga isn’t banking on Venters to be a star this season
but that’s precisely what makes him such an X-factor
He doesn’t need to average double figures or start games
He needs to be healthy enough to get hot on the right night
and provide a veteran presence when the stakes are highest
unexpected contributions often make the difference in March
then Gonzaga might have the missing piece that puts them over the top
Upon hosting the top-25 center recruit on an official visit this week, Gonzaga landed a commitment from Jefferson on Friday
“When my recruitment first started, all I was hearing was ‘You’re a Gonzaga type of guy,'" Jefferson told Tipton
Braden Huff and Ismaila Diagne returning to the Bulldogs next fall
adding the 6-foot-10 Jefferson provides Mark Few and the coaching staff an even wider range of possibilities with regard to lineups and substitution patterns
Though the Zags have yet to land a transfer this spring
it's more likely they target a versatile guard/wing combo player who can stretch the floor and have a positive impact on the defensive end
Another skilled yet raw big man who has four (maybe five at some point) years of eligibility to use also offers the Zags an insurance policy for when Ike inevitably departs after next season

As Gonzaga remains active in the portal, Few and company add to their 2025 recruiting class that previously featured just one commit from four-star wing Davis Fogle, the No. 32-ranked player in the class according to ESPN. Fogle committed to the Bulldogs last July.
Jefferson is a four-star recruit according to ESPN 100 and a three-star per 247Sports, On3 and Rivals. He originally signed with Minnesota last winter, but asked to be release from his National Letter of Intent in March after the Gophers fired Ben Johnson as their coach. Jefferson went on one other visit to Rutgers earlier this month.
Jefferson is the No. 150 overall prospect, No. 12 center and No. 20 recruit from California in the 2025 cycle, according to On3.
A native of Waxahachie, Texas, Jefferson moved to finish his high school career in Southern California at Inglewood High School. As a senior, Jefferson averaged 16.3 points, 11.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists, helping guide Inglewood to a 26-7 record.

It was a busy day for Gonzaga’s coaching staff
First receiving a commit from 2025 three-star power forward/center Parker Jefferson on the final day of his official visit to Spokane
Arizona State Sun Devils redshirt senior Adam Miller commits to Gonzaga
Miller is the first to come through the transfer portal this recruiting cycle for the Zags
The leftie shooting guard will add support and much-needed depth to the backcourt
He averaged 9.8 points on a career-high 42.9 three-point percentage (hit 57 total three-pointers) for coach Bobby Hurley last season
and 1.0 steals in 29.8 minutes per game for the Sun Devils
Zags One more run pic.twitter.com/PKbUmQCiOe
He previously played with the Illinois Fighting Illini in 2020-21 and then the LSU Tigers in 2022-23 (redshirted in 2021-22 due to an ACL injury)
Miller has scored 1,206 total points on a 38.5 field goal percentage throughout his career and this will be his final season of college eligibility
Illinois native is a talented spot-up scoring threat from the perimeter and can run the floor well when trying to score in transition through contact
He’s at his best off the ball from the wing
With 113 starts in 117 career games played
one has to wonder if his offensive spark and deep shooting prowess would be better suited in the starting lineup or coming off the bench for coach Mark Few
The offseason practices in the backcourt just got a whole lot more interesting on deciding who should fill out the majority of the minutes at the two spot
Redshirt senior Jalen Warley and junior Emmanuel Innocenti can be more effective on the defensive end
If redshirt junior Steele Venters is 100 percent healthy by the time the season starts
the Zags would have another dead-eye shooter available
It’s a fantastic problem to have heading into the summer
This moves the 2025-26 roster to 10 scholarships filled of the 15 spots available
This looks to be a Top 20 group with more additions to be made in the near future

Listed at 6-foot-9, Jefferson was very productive at Inglewood High School as a senior, averaging 16.3 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game. The latest 247Sports Composite ranks him as the 164th-best player in the class of 2025.
Jefferson was accompanied by Jacob Ross and Kai Shinholster in Johnson's final 2025 high school recruiting class. Shinholster opted to remain with the Gophers, but Ross is still looking for a new school. Jefferson was viewed as their top commit, and he will now play for future Hall of Fame head coach Mark Few.

Jefferson is considered a three-star prospect by On3.com and 247Sports.com
but he’s a top-150 recruit according to On3’s database as well as the website’s No
Gonzaga now has two high school signees in its 2025 recruiting class as Jefferson joins four-star wing Davis Fogle
a native of Anacortes who recently completed his senior season at Phoenix’s Compass Prep
If Jefferson isn’t a redshirt candidate for the Zags as a freshman
he’ll presumably come in as the fourth option in a loaded frontcourt that returns All-West Coast Conference First Team forward Graham Ike and Braden Huff
who joined GU’s starting lineup for the final three games last season
who played sparingly off the bench last year
should be primed for a bigger role as a sophomore
Jefferson has already drawn Drew Timme comparisons with his playing style and Texas roots
The forward grew up in the Dallas suburb of Waxahachie and attended Waxhachie High School

Jefferson was named to the All-Ocean League First Team after scoring 30 points in five games
notching 17 double-doubles and recording a triple-double
soft touch around the rim and exceptional passing ability for his size and position
but has demonstrated some 3-point shooting range – something that could separate him from Timme
While describing Jefferson’s game in a recent scouting report
“Jefferson has good size with a frame that projects as he continues to mature
His range extends beyond the three-point line with consistency
but he is still young with a September 2006 birthday
there is a skill and IQ foundation to build on.”
Jefferson comes from a basketball background with mother Carrie formerly playing at Arkansas
Older brother Michael played at Iona and sister Kaylee played at Sam Houston State
was a former left tackle for Arkansas’ football team

One of the key moves toward that goal came with the addition of transfer Adam Miller

Gonzaga’s 2025-26 frontcourt will consist of:
It’s a healthy mix of veterans and young talent who are long and athletic
this group will be considered one of the best in the country
This moves coach Mark Few’s 2025-26 roster to nine scholarships filled of the 15 spots available
it’s much too early for the Jefferson to decide to redshirt or not

Known for producing elite frontcourt talent under Mark Few and his staff
Gonzaga’s developmental reputation is central to their pitch
“They (Gonzaga) have a known track record for developing bigs and getting them to the pros
and I fit into what they are looking for,” Jefferson told Athlon Sports
“I also know it will be a grind coming in as a freshman

With parents who both played Division I athletics at Arkansas
Jefferson’s approach prioritizes long-term fit and player development
“Me and my parents don’t really like to talk money that much

who previously played at Waxahachie High School before relocating to Southern California
earned All-Ocean League honors after posting double-doubles in more than half his games
including multiple 30-point efforts and even a triple-double
had been building a relationship with Jefferson since his recruitment as an underclassman
That foundation proved vital when Jefferson reopened his recruitment following his decommitment from Minnesota
The Bulldogs quickly emerged as the frontrunners
and Jefferson’s official visit sealed the deal
“Gonzaga has a proven history of developing bigs for the NBA
and I feel like I fit what they’re looking for,” Jefferson told Athlon Sports during the recruiting process
“I know it’ll be a challenge coming in as a freshman

Jefferson brings a well-rounded offensive game with soft touch around the basket
solid shooting mechanics that stretch out to the perimeter
Though not known for explosive athleticism
and polish set him apart from many of his peers in the 2025 class
His commitment comes at a time when Gonzaga’s roster includes returning starters Graham Ike and Braden Huff
along with sophomore center Ismaila Diagne
Jefferson won’t be asked to carry the frontcourt immediately
but he’s well-positioned to develop behind seasoned veterans before stepping into a larger role in the years ahead

I joined DECA at the beginning of my sophomore year in the fall of 2023
except that I wanted to increase my involvement in Gonzaga’s extracurricular activities
and joining DECA is one of the best choices I have made during my collegiate journey
After becoming an international champion in restaurant and food service management last year
I kept my momentum going and achieved second place in corporate finance during this year’s DECA International Career and Development Conference (ICDC)
DECA is a business club with the primary goal of preparing emerging leaders for their future careers
DECA hosts conferences at both the state and international levels where students compete for awards
The competitions consist of prepared business presentations
The conferences also feature career workshops where students can improve their skills
The practice and competitions prepare students for their careers and develop important public speaking and technical knowledge
around 1,500 college students attend ICDC each year
and the conferences are an excellent way to build knowledge
Understanding my journey starts with learning how I got to where I am today
DECA traveled to Shoreline Community College for our annual state competition
This competition officially started my DECA career
Our club had thoroughly practiced leading up to the event
so I was prepared for the 100-question exam followed by a case study
which allowed 30 minutes of preparation and 15 minutes to present my findings to a panel of judges
The practice paid off—I ended up winning my event in restaurant and food service management
which meant I earned a spot at the 2024 International Career and Development Conference in Austin
DECA offered many impressive career development events
and I formed valuable relationships with all the other club members who traveled from Gonzaga
The format was the same as the state competition with the exam and case study
and in round one I was recognized as a top performer for both my exam and case study scores
The 60 competitors were narrowed down to around 15
I became a finalist as I was called to the stage along with nine others
I had become an international champion in restaurant and food service management
This success led to my becoming the president of DECA for the 2024–2025 school year
Serving as president proved to be a challenge
but I am hopeful for the future because of the lessons I learned and the challenges I overcame this year
I now understand how to better prepare club members in the future—whether for competitions
I led Gonzaga’s team to the state competition at Bellevue College
I decided to switch my event to corporate finance because I felt it was more relevant to my career interests
which meant I would travel to San Francisco for the 2025 International Career and Development Conference
earning top performer recognition for both my case study and exam score—just like last year
I ran into a challenge in the second round
I didn’t know how to solve my second case study
and I only had 30 minutes to figure it out
quickly drawing upon prior knowledge about mergers and acquisitions and filling in the gaps with information from the internet
I felt more confident as the case progressed
thanks to preparation from other clubs and classes
waiting and hoping my name would be called again
After struggling through the second case study
I received my second-place trophy and celebrated with the other DECA club members
I am incredibly thankful for my experience with DECA
and it’s rewarding to see the time and effort I invested turn into awards at the international level
the impact DECA has had on my life goes far beyond trophies
It has given me a community of students who genuinely want to see each other thrive
I have significantly improved my public speaking and test-taking skills
I am more knowledgeable in the fields of corporate finance and management thanks to the practice and case studies I encountered in the club
I’ve applied classroom learning to case studies that reflect real-world problems
I feel ready for my upcoming career—wherever that may lead me
who supports us and makes the club so special
thank you to Dean Anderson and the Gonzaga School of Business for making these travel opportunities possible
and I’m looking forward to one final run
I’m confident that my Gonzaga education will continue to lead me to success in both DECA and my future career
and that what I’ve learned as president will help the club achieve even greater accomplishments after I graduate

Former Arizona State basketball standout Adam Miller has committed to Gonzaga
He started his career close to his home at Illinois
He played for the Sun Devils for the past two seasons
playing in 30 games last season and starting in all of those
The 6-foot-3 senior guard averaged 9.8 points and 2.3 rebounds per game
He shot 45% from the field and was the team's most dependable 3-point shooter
Miller played against Gonzaga this season as the teams met in a nonconference game in Spokane
but it wasn't one of Miller's more memorable games
He went 3-for-10 from the field and 2-for-7 from long distance
Miller suffered rib and oblique injuries in the game against Brigham Young on Feb
missing two games and playing only the first few seconds of the final game of the season against Arizona
His best game of the season was a 22-point showing in a double-overtime loss to Texas Tech on Feb
starting in 21 of those in the 2023-24 season
He averaged 12 points and 3-2 rebounds with a best of 20 points coming in nonconference play against TCU in Fort Worth
That was the first game in which he played
Miller needed a waiver from the NCAA to be eligible
But then the NCAA reversed course and granted multiple-time transfers immediate eligibility
It was that ruling that gave Miller another season
Most of the departing players have now found landing spots: Jayden Quaintance (Kentucky)
Brandon Gardner (Sacramento State) and Brycen Long (Portland State)
Gardner and Long did not play a game last year
while Nunez played only four before going down for the season with a foot injury
received a swing pass from Tyrese Haliburton and pulled up for a shot from well beyond the 3-point line
Nembhard had certainly been feeling it from downtown — he cashed a stepback jumper from deep just moments earlier
providing the Indiana Pacers some breathing room as they tried to escape Rocket Arena with a road win to start this Eastern Conference semifinal round series
Then, with just under 5 minutes left in the fourth quarter, the former Gonzaga guard delivered another staggering blow to the Cleveland Cavaliers' comeback attempt
Nembhard's long-range jumper went right over the top of Donovan Mitchell's outstretched arms on its way to the bottom of the net
putting the Pacers up 110-104 with 4:34 left in regulation
As he cooly jogged back to his team's side of the floor
a hush fell over the once rowdy Cleveland crowd

Once again, the Pacers' 6-foot-5 guard delivered in the clutch. Nembhard finished with 23 points — his most in a playoff win — while shooting 5-of-6 from 3-point range in the Pacers' 121-112 victory over the Cavs on Sunday. Nembhard also recorded six assists without committing any turnovers against the Eastern Conference's No. 3-ranked defense by net rating.
Indiana's backcourt did a lot of the heavy lifting in Game 1, as Haliburton chipped in 22 points and 13 assists.
The Pacers led by as many as 12 points in the third quarter before the Cavs mounted a furious comeback effort behind Mitchell, who sparked a 20-4 scoring run that allowed Cleveland to briefly reclaim the lead.
Indiana responded with a run of its own, outscoring Cleveland 15-4 over a 6-minute stretch that made it a double-digit game with less than 2 minutes remaining in the fourth.
Nembhard certainly had a hand in turning the tide down the stretch. Despite momentum swinging in Cleveland's favor, he remained composed to come through for the Pacers in crunch time yet again.
Nembhard stepped up for the Pacers in their first-round series against the Milwaukee Bucks. In addition to defending Damian Lillard prior to his injury in Game 4, Nembhard averaged 15.0 points on 49.2% shooting from the floor, including 50% from 3-point range. He also made all six of his free throws in the series and dished out 24 assists against just four turnovers.
Nembhard made a name for himself in the NBA Playoffs last year, when he helped guide the Pacers to the Eastern Conference Finals while putting up 14.9 points, 5.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game.
This season, Nembhard averaged career-highs in scoring (10.0 points), assists (5.0), rebounds (3.3) and steals (1.2) during the regular season.
Game 2 between the Pacers and Cavs is Tuesday (4 p.m. PT, TNT).

This commitment not only shores up Gonzaga’s perimeter but also signals Few’s continued prowess in navigating the transfer market
The Zags will also be welcoming Virginia transfer Jalen Warley
four-star recruit Davis Fogle and three-star recruit Parker Jefferson for the 2025-26 season.
As the Bulldogs prepare for a revamped WCC slate
Miller’s arrival could be the catalyst for a deeper March run and a chance to restore Gonzaga among college basketball’s elite
Six rotational players from a squad that won the 2025 West Coast Conference tournament and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament are departing this spring
though the Bulldogs are one of just a few high-major programs in the country that have yet to make a splash in the transfer portal
Braden Huff and a few other core pieces from the 2024-25 squad back in Spokane
it appears Mark Few and his coaching staff have put the Zags in a serious position to land their first commit of the 2025 transfer cycle
There aren't many direct ties between the 6-foot-3 guard and the Zags, though Few and company are familiar with what he brings to the table from their matchup against the Sun Devils at the McCarthey Athletic Center on Nov. 10, when Miller knocked down a pair of 3s and had eight points in an 88-80 victory for the Bulldogs. Miller was also a teammate of former Gonzaga star Chet Holmgren on the 2021 USA U19 World Cup team that took home a gold medal.
Miller's received interest from a number of schools since entering the portal on April 14, including Baylor, Pitt, Texas, Illinois and West Virginia, among others. He spent the past two seasons playing for Bobby Hurley and the Sun Devils, appearing in 53 games and making 51 starts during his time in Tempe, Arizona. This past season, Miller averaged 9.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists while shooting 42.9% from 3-point range.
Adding Miller to the mix would provide the Zags with another reliable 3-point shooter out on the perimeter.
After missing out on Maryland transfer Rodney Rice — a 6-foot-3 guard who had Gonzaga in his final six before he committed to USC — the Bulldogs have reportedly made a strong push toward acquiring a former Trojans guard who entered the portal at the last minute following Rice's decision
Gonzaga is among the handful of schools that have reached out to Claude since his decision to enter the portal made him one of the most talented guards available on the open market. He's also heard from BYU and Indiana, according to 247Sports.
Claude took home honorable mention All-Big Ten honors after averaging 15.8 points, 4.2 assists and 3.5 rebounds this past season, appearing in 33 games and making 32 starts for Eric Musselman's squad.
After scoring just under 12 points per game in November, Claude certainly turned things up a notch with several big-time scoring outputs in conference play, highlighted by a 31-point outburst against Illinois back in January. He scored 30 points against Rutgers on Feb. 23, then dropped 28 on the Scarlet Knights not even a month later in the conference tournament. Claude had one double-double on the season in a 25-point, 11-assist effort against Washington.
After bringing back Graham Ike, Braden Huff and a few of other key pieces from last season's squad, the Bulldogs' offseason focus appears to have shifted toward acquiring experienced talent to round out the 2025-26 roster. Per Tipton, Gonzaga has emerged as the favorite to land Arizona State transfer Adam Miller. The 6-foot-3 guard shot 42.9% from behind the 3-point arc last season.

The NBA G League Elite camp is set for May 9-11
The first 14 picks of the 2025 NBA Draft will be determined during the draft lottery on May 12
Duke freshman phenom Cooper Flagg is slated to be the No
1 overall pick regardless of which team is on the board first
Nembhard finished his four-year college career with 882 assists
the 22nd-most by a player in NCAA Division I history
His 344 assists this past season led the country and were the fifth-most in a single season in NCAA history and the most in Gonzaga program history
it only took him two seasons (70 games) to finish with the fifth-most career assists in Gonzaga history (587
Nembhard averaged 11.7 points and 3.5 rebounds for his career
shooting 43.2% from the field and 34.7% from 3-point range over the span of 134 games with Creighton (64 games) and Gonzaga (70)
His 30-point outburst against Baylor in the 2023 NCAA Tournament marked a career-high
Nembhard had 28 career games with 10 or more assists as well
Though his name isn't a popular one on most big boards, Nembhard did make an appearance as the No. 57 overall pick to the Orlando Magic in The Athletic's latest mock draft.
Orlando already has a solid bunch of hybrid guards/wings on the roster — including former Gonzaga star Jalen Suggs — but a true point guard who can set the table for Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner would help take the load off the Magic's young stars.
Whether he hears his name called on June 25 or not, Nembhard's next steps toward a potential NBA career likely involve a trip to Las Vegas for the NBA Summer League in July.
Now that college basketball’s transfer portal has officially closed
Gonzaga can move on from keeping its most important players – something head coach Mark Few and his staff did successfully last week with Graham Ike and Braden Huff both committing to another year in Spokane – to filling the vacancies left by outgoing seniors/transfers and reloading at key positions
it’s been an unusually quiet offseason for Gonzaga
which still has six scholarships it can fill before the 2025-26 season
77 of 81 high-major schools (the Power Five conferences along with Memphis and Gonzaga) have picked up at least one transfer commitment
with some bringing in up to seven or eight
bringing in three freshmen that make up the third-ranked recruiting class in America
Marquette continue to stay clear of the transfer market under coach Shaka Smart
who hasn’t added anyone from the portal in three seasons
Gonzaga has a solid core of returning rotation members that Few will pair with three players coming off redshirt seasons and one incoming freshman
the Zags probably have at least a couple of portal moves to make in order to rebuild their backcourt and establish depth at other positions
We look at five more transfer targets Gonzaga’s been in contact with or could make sense on Few’s roster as the Zags continue to retool

in addition to the Illinois and ASU programs for which he’s previously played
Miller’s been a primary starter at each college stop
He owns a career scoring average of 10.3 points per game
posting a career-high 12.0 points during the 2023-24 season at ASU
The shooting guard opened his career making 34% of his shots from the 3-point line and withstood two seasons at LSU and ASU where he shot 31.6% and 30.3% to elevate his percentage to a career-high 42.9% last season
The fit: It’s widely thought that Miller’s down to two schools: Gonzaga and the program that upended the Bulldogs for the 2021 national championship
Miller could be a logical replacement for Nolan Hickman at the shooting guard position
taking roughly the same amount of 3-point attempts as Hickman did last year with the Zags while hitting at a slightly lower percentage
who teamed up with former Zag Chet Holmgren on the United States’ 2021 U-19 FIBA World Cup team that won a gold medal
Miller also has one career appearance against Gonzaga
scoring eight points on 3-of-10 shooting from the field in ASU’s 88-80 loss at the Kennel last season
The scoop: The transfer portal often works in funny ways
Hours after Eric Musselman snagged a commitment from Rice
who’s reported to earn an NIL deal exceeding $3 million
sneaked into the transfer portal hours before the 9 p.m
who immediately became one of the top guards available on the transfer market upon entering
Claude’s early list of suitors also included BYU
The fit: Claude would check a number of boxes for Gonzaga as a score-first guard with a big frame who can play off the ball or facilitate
He is capable of creating shots and has a strong finishing ability at the rim but hasn’t proven to be much of a perimeter shooting threat during his career
making 30% last season at USC after hitting 29.3% and 23.9% his first two seasons at Xavier
Claude is still one of the most accomplished scorers available in the portal
averaging 16.6 and 15.8 ppg the past two seasons
and likely caught the eye of Gonzaga’s staff when he posted 19 points and five assists in a charity exhibition against Few’s team last season in Palm Desert
The scoop: A familiar face for fans who follow what the Zags do on the recruiting trail
If not for Drew Timme’s decision to return to Gonzaga for his fourth college season
taking an official visit in spring 2022 before committing to Florida State
Miller’s developed since posting modest numbers at FSU as a freshman
when he appeared in just 15 games due to injury and averaged only 4.3 ppg and 3.7 rpg
The Spaniard improved to 7.6 ppg and 4.9 rpg in 2023-24 and took another leap when he arrived at Florida Atlantic
scoring 11.3 ppg and grabbing 7.0 rpg for first-year Owls coach and former Gonzaga Director of Basketball Operations John Jakus
The fit: Miller hasn’t technically been linked to Gonzaga
but his connections and ties to the program make it hard to leave him off this list
Aside from his prior recruiting history with Gonzaga and playing under Jakus
Miller is also a former teammate of Zags guard and ex-FSU player Jalen Warley
Both Miller and Warley played at FSU while GU assistant R-Jay Barsh worked on Leonard Hamilton’s staff in Tallahassee
Miller is also familiar with Gonzaga center Ismaila Diagne
who overlapped with the FAU transfer while both played for Real Madrid’s youth academy
particularly with news that both Ike and Huff will return next season
with the 6-11 Miller playing at the “3” alongside the 6-10 Huff and 6-9 Ike
then slide over to the “4” when either of those two go to the bench
The scoop: The son of former NBA great Peja Stojakovic spent his first two college seasons in the Bay Area but is looking to branch out after missing the NCAA Tournament both years
Stojakovic recently wrapped up a visit to Illinois
but he’s also receiving interest from the Zags
It’ll take a strong pitch to lure Stojakovic away from Illinois
which has a quartet of European players committed to its 2025-26 roster
and potentially a lucrative offer to convince him to go somewhere other than Florida
Stojakovic was a part-time starter for Stanford as a freshman
averaging 7.8 ppg and 3.4 rpg before transferring to rival Cal
averaging 33.4 minutes and scoring 17.9 ppg
The fit: Stojakovic’s 3-point percentage leaves something to be desired – he made 32.7% as a freshman
followed by 31.8% last season – but otherwise
he’d be a fairly seamless fit for Gonzaga at the small forward spot
scoring and rebounding next to Huff and Ike
Stojakovic didn’t shoot the 3 with consistency
but he offered glimmers of hope he can be a reliable perimeter threat
making 7 of 13 from behind the arc in two games at the ACC Tournament
The sophomore forward also combined to score 66 points in those games
closing the year with a career-high 37-point effort against his former school
will be playing for any school next season
John’s transfer is in both the transfer portal and NBA draft
but went on record saying he’s focused on the professional route
Luis also entered the portal with a “Do Not Contact” tag
meaning the forward can initiate conversation with coaches but not the other way around
Luis will be one of the most coveted transfers still available by June 15
the final day college players are able to withdraw their names
The fit: Because Luis is in the predraft process and not hearing directly from college coaches with his tag
it’s hard to get a read on which schools have had dialogue with the versatile wing
wouldn’t have any trouble plugging in the Miami native
given his scoring numbers (18.2 ppg in 2024-25)
rebounding ability (7.2 rpg) and defensive skills (1.4 steals per game)
and had a knack for getting to the free-throw line last season
which also represented Battle during his lone season in Spokane
providing a somewhat clearer image of what the landscape of the sport will look like for the 2025-26 season
as a handful of names trickle into the portal Wednesday morning
rosters across the country are still far from finalized
There's still roughly 2,500 Division-I players who've yet to commit to a school
potential de-commits and high school reclassifications to consider before teams reconvene for summer practices and workouts
power ranking the top teams in the country at this juncture still feels a bit premature
But as roster departures become less frequent now that the portal's closed
it's not too early for some media outlets and personnel to start looking ahead to next season
Let's see where the Gonzaga Bulldogs stand after bringing back Graham Ike and Braden Huff for the 2025-26 campaign:
Despite confirmation that Ike and Huff will return to Spokane next season, ESPN's Jeff Borzello moved the Zags down two spots from where they ranked at the beginning of the offseason
Borzello projects Mark Few's starting lineup next fall will feature Braeden Smith
Borzello notes how it's going to be a different look without Ryan Nembhard
and given the fact that Warley and Smith sat out last season
Borzello questions Gonzaga's perimeter depth at this point in the offseason
Venters hasn't played since 2023 when he was with the Eastern Washington Eagles due to injury
who took a redshirt year after transferring in from the Colgate Red Raiders
will be taking over point guard duties from Nembhard
is slated to play meaningful minutes on the wing with Michael Ajayi and Dusty Stromer exiting via the transfer portal
could also see playing time in his first year with the Bulldogs
But since the Zags have yet to land a single commitment from the portal
Few and his coaching staff have struck out on a handful of targets thus far
most recently falling short in the race to land Maryland transfer Rodney Rice
who instead chose USC over Gonzaga earlier this week
Purdue claims the top spot in ESPN's latest rankings after bringing back All-America point guard Braden Smith
Two confirmed nonleague opponents on Gonzaga's schedule for next season crack ESPN's early top 25 rankings: No
Jon Rothstein, also known as the insider's insider, has updated his daily offseason rankings to reflect the confirmation of both Huff and Ike returning to Gonzaga
Rothstein's projected starting five for the Bulldogs is the same as Borzello's: Smith
while Mark Pope's Wildcats check in at No
is not featured in Rothstein's latest top 45
The Gaels are projected to lose four starters from last season's squad that won the West Coast Conference regular season championship after Jordan Ross entered his name into the portal earlier this week
With regard to predictive metrics, Gonzaga finished the season No. 8 in KenPom, Torvik and the NET while ranking top 10 in offensive efficiency for the seventh season in a row (KenPom).
After losing six rotational players from last season's squad, it remains to be seen how the Bulldogs round out their roster via the portal and recruiting trails over the next few months.
the Bulldogs’ 2025 recruiting class is beginning to take shape
Jefferson joins fellow high school standout Davis Fogle
But while those two additions bring long-term upside
there’s still immediate work for the Zags
Following the departures of Ryan Nembhard and Nolan Hickman
Gonzaga’s backcourt needs reinforcements
Head coach Mark Few and his staff are looking to add not just bodies but proven production
specifically scoring punch on the wing and consistent perimeter shooting
Here’s a look at the top names to watch as Gonzaga navigates its next roster addition:
Primary Transfer TargetsAdam Miller (Arizona State): A veteran combo guard with stops at LSU and Illinois prior to Arizona State
Miller fits Gonzaga’s need for a floor-spacer
He shot over 42% from deep last season and brings a tough-minded scoring mentality
he could be an ideal addition to stabilize Gonzaga’s guard rotation
Malik Thomas (San Francisco): Thomas led the WCC in scoring last season and has the kind of physical frame (6-foot-5) and versatility that makes him an intriguing fit in Spokane—if he’s cleared to play
His shot creation and ability to score at all three levels would be a major boost
especially with the Zags seeking more dynamic guard play
Mario Saint-Supery (Spain): A rising talent from overseas
Saint-Supery has drawn attention as a potential backcourt piece
his professional experience in Europe makes him a wild card that Gonzaga could mold within their system
Tyon Grant-Foster (Grand Canyon)At 6-foot-7
Grant-Foster brings both length and experience to the wing position
His college path has taken him from Indian Hills CC to stops at Kansas and DePaul
before finding his stride at Grand Canyon University
he developed into the team’s top offensive threat and earned recognition as the WAC’s top player
With his ability to score at all three levels and a wealth of experience at multiple levels of college basketball
he could be a strong fit for a Gonzaga team looking to bolster its perimeter scoring and wing depth.
and Cade Tyson all present possible options if the top targets fall through
Dar brings size and a solid perimeter shot
while Pissis is a proven scorer despite inconsistent outside shooting
but his profile suggests he’s on Gonzaga’s extended radar
the question now is whether the Zags can land one more impact piece to elevate their backcourt and sharpen their 2025 outlook
The next commitment could be Gonzaga's final push to return to national title contention
but star point guard Ryan Nembhard was among the 44 players invited to the G League Elite Camp after the list was revealed by Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype on Saturday evening
A select number of players from this event will also be invited to the combine, and even if Nembhard is not among them it is entirely possible to get drafted after not attending the combine - in fact former Gonzaga forward Anton Watson participated in the G League Elite Camp last year, did not go to the combine, and was picked No. 54 overall in the second round by the Boston Celtics
with fellow guards Khalif Battle and Nolan Hickman attending the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament (PIT) last month while forward Ben Gregg entered the transfer portal to keep his options open should the NCAA grant a blanket waiver for additional eligibility
Nembhard shattered Gonzaga's single-season assist record - which he set the previous year - by dropping 344 assists
the most in WCC history and fifth most of all-time
and 1.7 steals per game while shooting a career-high 40.4% from the three point line last season
leading Gonzaga to a WCC Tournament championship and a first round win over Georgia in the NCAA Tournament
His older brother Andrew is thriving with the Indiana Pacers after they made him a second round pick back in 2022
and that could help boost Ryan's draft stock
Andrew is a good five inches taller than Ryan
and in a league where size and length matter more than ever before
Ryan's measurements will likely keep him out of the actual draft in June
his elite passing and improved shooting will put him squarely on the radar as a summer league invite and potential two-way guy if he so chooses to go that route.
