Greek triathlon phenom Panagiotis Bitados struck again at IRONMAN 70.3 Venice-Jesolo on Sunday
sprinting to a stunning victory in the Pro Series showdown in Italy
The prodigiously talented 21-year-old starred once again to claim his second victory in IRONMAN 70.3 combat – having already claimed the win at last year’s European Championship in Tallinn. He is now two from two
Britain’s Cameron Main claimed an excellent second place with Denmark’s Emil Holm completing the podium
British Olympian Sam Dickinson finished well for fourth but long-time leader – Germany’s former 70.3 World Champion Rico Bogen – fell away to end the day in seventh
Jannik Schaufler (GER) was first out of the water
closely followed by eventual winner Bitados
Jonas Schomburg (GER) and Simon Westermann (SUI)
Bitados put on an aggressive display of racing as he took the lead early on the bike course
but Bogen quickly got to work to lead the 11-strong chase pack for most of the leg
Bogen had a three-and-a-half-minute lead as he headed out onto the run course after a blistering course record bike split of 1:53:34
And early in the half-marathon he looked composed and in control
Behind him, 11 men had entered T2 within about 15 seconds of each other
with the 21-year-old Greek talent catching Rico just past halfway on the run
with both Main and Holm putting down blistering run splits to finish in second and third places respectively
Bogen failed to keep the aggressive run pace up
Schomburg and Pierre Le Corre (FRA) all overtaking him in the later stages
Afterwards a delighted Bitados said: “That’s my first [IRONMAN] 70.3 for this year
and I am really happy to win… I had a bad
but then I found my rhythm on the run and then I catch Cameron [Main] and Emil [Holm]… and I ran to just finish second
but then I understood I was so close to Rico

While the gymnastics world has been hyper focused on the NCAA gymnastics season
elite gymnastics is just starting to heat up in 2025
Here’s a recap of the major international assignments that have taken place so far this year
Team USA has two pommel horse stars that have been upping their game this year
Illinois’ Brandon Dang and Air Force’s Patty Hoopes both competed at the Baku and Antalya World Cup
they both finished just off the podium in the final
these two are one of three athletes to break the 15-point barrier
They are certainly building momentum and will be big names in the conversation for the World Championships in the fall
The international assignments do not stop there for these pommel workers
both Dang and Hoopes will be back in action at the Cairo World Cup April 25-28 in Egypt
“My number one goal is to get to Los Angeles,” she says
from one competition to the next because there are other activities besides gymnastics.”
If there is one thing Chinese gymnastics brings
Fanyuwei made headlines by performing a brand new skill
a Jaeger with a full twist in a lay out position
Since she was the first athlete to successfully perform the skill in international competition
it’s now named “The Fanyuwei.” Many fans may remember Olympic Champion Sunisa Lee training the same skill in 2024
Lee never successfully completed the skill in international competition
Fanyuwei can reach a difficulty score of 6.8
She has made herself an early contender for uneven bar champion at the World Championships this fall
Claire Pease and Jayla Hang were both in action at the Antalya World Cup
executing a powerful double-twisting Yurchenko
While vault was the only event she won a medal on
and will be looking to build for later in the season
She also finished second bars with a 14.233 and a 6.2 D score
Pease originally missed out on qualifying to the beam final
but after a late withdrawal she was added and won gold
She finished her week winning silver on floor
We cannot wait to see all of these amazing athletes at the Xfinity U.S

we may have another swim/bike/run phenom on our hands after Solveig Lovseth romped to a stunning victory at IRONMAN 70.3 Venice-Jesolo in Italy on Sunday
The 25-year-old Olympian from Trondheim simply was brilliant as she claimed an impressive Pro Series victory and the third 70.3 success of her career
following on from Indian Wells La Quinta in 2023 and Warsaw in 2024
The win was set up by a blistering bike leg from the Scandinavian star
with her 2:06:59 split faster than 14 of the pro men racing on Sunday
Germany’s Lena Meissner claimed second spot with France’s Emilie Morier completing the podium
Meissner led for most of the bike course through the Italian countryside after coming out of the water in front – with more than two minutes in hand on the eventual winner
who had been chipping away to close in on the German
eventually made a pass in the final third of the bike leg
She then kept her cool as she got on to the run course
staying strong and consistent to increase her lead to a winning margin of more than six minutes
Her time of 3:53:22 is one of the fastest recorded in IRONMAN 70.3 history
managed to run herself onto the podium in one of the best races of her career
in the process punching her ticket to the 2025 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships in Marbella.
Afterwards Lovseth said: “My swim was alright I guess
I knew that Lena was in front and tried to chase her for the first 60km
and then tried to just stay even all the way to transition
so you’re always afraid that someone is coming from behind
so I just tried to keep my pace high on the run… my main goal was to not blow off or I will destroy everything
so I tried to be a little more conservative and just enjoy as well, and it was I quite easy to enjoy it with so many spectators around
Completing the itinerary are portraits taken by Robert Capa in 1948, capturing a mature but energetic Picasso on the French Riviera, offering a glimpse of the constant and inspiring presence of female figures in his life and art.
Produced by the City of Jesolo and organized by Piuma in collaboration with Arthemisia, the exhibition aims to bring to light the deep and complex dynamics between the artist and the female world that accompanied and inspired him throughout his career.

The athletes previously announced to compete in Doha
have opted to withdraw from the Doha World Cup
women continued their international dominance with a relatively new group of seniors at the 2019 City of Jesolo Trophy
while Sunisa Lee won the all-around in her senior elite debut
China won the team silver while Italy won bronze
and the top seven all-around gymnasts were all from USA
USA began on vault with just a Yurchenko full from Gabby Perea
but it was strong and well-executed to earn 13.567
Emma Malabuyo was next with a great DTY and scored a 14.533
Last was Shilese Jones with a huge DTY
Liu Tingting was up first and opened with a triple twist
Tingting was short on her double tuck to finish but was able to land it
Qi Qi's floor routine was full of strong twisting and also ended with a double tuck but was not short
Zhang Jin had a packed routine that began with a great turn and a whip triple full to split jump
Liu Jingxing finished floor for China and had good difficulty in her routine
front layout through to double full and a double pike
But Italy had a great first rotation that put them in medal contention with USA and China right away
Alice D'Amato got Italy started on a good note with a nice uneven bars routine that included great combos like a Maloney to Tkachev and a Ricna to Pak salto
D'Amato dismounted with a front double tuck and scored a 13.967
Desiree Carofiglio was second and hit her routine
including a Tkachev to Pak and a stalder full to Maloney to shootover for a 13.933
a Church and an eagle-grip full to a double front dismount
Finishing up the first rotation for Italy was Elisa Iorio
who had a routine with nice eagle grip work and pirouettes but was close on her double front dismount
followed by Italy with a 42.067 and China with a 39.600
Japan was in fourth with a 37.300 after beam
The second rotation is where the top teams made some major mistakes
USA started well with a hit routine from Malabuyo
whose routine began with nice stalder work
followed by two releases and a double twisting layout for a 13.633
but Jones and Perea both fell during their routines
Lee had a great bar routine and hit all of her connections and combos
including a stalder blind to piked Jaeger and the Nabieva to Pak to Maloney to Gienger
Italy was on beam and had some breaks as the rotation went on
Alice was first and nailed her front tuck mount and hit the rest of her routine
including a back handspring back tuck series and a triple twist dismount
Asia unfortunately did not nail her mount and fell but recovered well
Iorio hit her tricky roundoff layout stepout mount but bent at her hips for a big break during her front aerial
Jin began the rotation with a Tsukahara double
USA maintained its lead despite its mistakes with a 84.666
China moved into second with a 81.767 and Italy was third with a 79.200
The third rotation saw more mistakes from USA as it competed on beam
Perea led off but grabbed the beam after her double wolf turn and fell after her standing full and scored a 12.367
Jones fought to stay on and had a few balance checks on her acro series and straddle 1/2
Lee also fell victim to wolf turns and fell
She missed a few connections but was solid on her side aerial layout stepout layout stepout and earned a 13.233
Malabuyo hit her routine without major problems but did only a back handspring layout stepout instead of the triple series for a 13.500
China showcased its skills on uneven bars but had a few mistakes
Qi was up first and had good form throughout but had to muscle up to a handstand
Jin was crooked on a pirouette near the end of her routine and had to do three giants into her full-twisting double tuck dismount
Xijing hit her routine with a double layout dismount for a 14.200
Tingting anchored bars with a fantastic set that included a Maloney to Gienger and beautiful pirouette work for a 14.500
USA was able to remain on top with a 124.432
and Japan maintained its fourth place position with a 114.166
The fourth rotation was a strong finish for USA but not for China
She scored a 14.333 to clinch the all-around title
tucked full-in with her chest low and a double pike to score a 14.233
Last up was Jones who opened with a big tucked double double
Qi started the rotation and had two big wobbles on top of a fall on her triple series
Tingting proved why she's the reigning World Champion on beam with her beautiful set
USA won the senior team title with a 166.798
China won team silver with a 165.201 and Italy won bronze with a 161.333
Lee won her first senior all-around title with a 56.466
Tingting won silver with a 55.901 while Malabuyo joined her U.S
teammate on the podium with a 55.899 for bronze

It’s Superstar Season in World Para Athletics
and Jesolo seems like the perfect location for the next chapter of what will be a phenomenal 2024
With the latest Grand Prix upcoming in Italy (22-24 March)
and the story is ready to be continued with a star-studded cast
We’ve had some household names compete already this season
Marcel Hug and Tatyana McFadden all appeared in Dubai
Paralympic champions including Abdeslam Hili made statements
let’s begin with some of those home favourites who are already confirmed
prepare for some perfect poses as the Charlie’s Angels of the sporting world do battle once again on home soil
Martina Caironi and Monica Contrafatto are all confirmed to be taking part
with Caironi looking to build not only on her Tokyo silver
but also her long jump gold medal at the World Championships last year in Paris
Maxcel Amo Manu is another who all eyes will be on
he’ll renew what is a thrilling rivalry with Costa Rica’s Sherman Guity in the T64 across both 100m and 200m
The reigning gold and silver World medallists are going to put on a real show
The United States are bringing the firepower to Jesolo
Spearheaded by reigning World and Paralympic T47 high jump champion Roderick Townsend
their small but mighty team of four individuals all arrive with hopes of continuing their Kobe preparations
Also starring will be Tokyo medallist and one of the faces of the Paralympic Movement
each will be aiming to leave Jesolo by setting their stalls out ahead of a mammoth next six months
both Brazil’s Ricardo Gomes (T37 100m and 200m world champion) and Ecuador’s Kiara Rodriguez (T47 100m and long jump world champion) will make the journey to Europe intent on leaving with more medals to their absolutely stacked collection
the iconic and beloved Sandeep Chaudhary will be putting in his final preparations right now for another T64 javelin success
The Paralympic Movement has taken quite the journey in the past 25 years
and there will be one man in Jesolo who has seen every second of it
Sydney 2000 was the first Games for Thomas Geierspichler
An eight-time Paralympic and three-time World medallist
Geierspichler has won everything there is to win across the T52 world
He’ll have ambitions of adding to the portfolio in Jesolo
And one nation who isn’t spoken about quite so much at the major events is that of Mauritius
The island nation doesn’t have the history of Paralympic or World medals in our sport
but Noemi Alphonse is a woman who is changing all of that perception
Having picked up a simply stunning silver in the T54 100m and a brilliant bronze for the 400m at the Paris World Championships last year
what could follow in the coming months may just make the world take even more notice
and a nation will be anticipating the next stepping stone in their rise to become a Games force
As with all our Grand Prix competitions, you will be able to follow the action along from home. We will have live streams of every second in Jesolo across our Facebook page
as well as bringing some of the biggest moments on our channels during competition
You will be able to follow live results too

Konnor McClain competes on the balance beam during women's qualification at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics Championships on Oct
Konnor McClain’s long-established training plans were upended in August 2020 when gymnastics bumped its minimum age requirement back one year for the postponed Olympic Games in Tokyo
suddenly making the hotshot West Virginian eligible for the Games three years sooner than expected
McClain stepped back to refocus on her original plan of 2024
the 17-year-old appears to be right on track
Her latest success came at the City of Jesolo Trophy
an early season meet in Italy where a who’s who of top American women have shined before making the leap to the Olympic stage
Competing in the seaside town in northeast Italy
women’s team to victory while also claiming first place in the all-around
Teammate Zoe Miller also won the uneven bars to give the Americans five of the six possible medals in Jesolo
Shilese Jones took silver on bars and bronze on beam
and eMjae Frazier won silver on floor to complete an overall strong performance from the U.S
gymnasts who won the Jesolo all-around title includes Olympic medalists Shawn Johnson
McClain has a ways to go to join that group
After making her world championships debut last fall
she’s already won the all-around at the Winter Cup in Texas and led the U.S
team to victory at the DTB Pokal Cup in Germany so far this year
scoring 54.999 to hold off Italy’s Asia D’Amato (54.967) and Martina Maggio (54.200)
McClain also won the Jesolo junior title in 2019
The gymnast who now trains in the Dallas area scored 13.900 on floor and 13.850 on beam en route to two more gold medals
won the bars with the help of a massive 6.5 difficulty score to total 14.450 points
The next best D-score across all events in Jesolo was McClain’s 6.1 in the beam finals
Miller’s bars score was .150 more than silver medalist Jones
Jones also scored 13.550 to claim the bronze medal on beam
who also made her world championships debut last year
is coming off a team silver medal and five individual medals at last summer’s Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
As is often the case in the year after the Games
Olympians are competing at the elite level so far this season
though four of the six are active at the NCAA level and Jade Carey
the 2020 floor exercise gold medalist now competing for Oregon State
has said she plans to return to the elite level

The dust may have barely settled from Xalapa
but we do not have to wait any longer for the next Grand Prix of 2023 as all attention moves to the beauty of Jesolo this weekend
We know that this is one of the final stops on the way to the Paris 23 World Championships in July
and this provides a huge opportunity to put plans into place against some of the top stars who will come up against in Paris
Remember when Italy were in terrific form to sweep up the medals at Tokyo 2020
How would you feel about watching them do their thing again
as the home field is superbly packed with medallists aplenty
All three of the holy trinity of women’s T63 podium makers in Tokyo will be vying for the top prizes once again
the woman who topped the 100m podium at the last Paralympic Games
will only compete in the 200m this time around
But she is competing on a track where she broke the world record and could do the same again
Her podium partners on that September 2021 day though will be eyeing the gold in the 100m
World record holder Martina Caironi will go head-to-head with Monica Contrafatto across the distance
There will be a first outing of 2023 for another Paralympic and world great too; Assunta Legnante
With two golds at the Paralympic Games and four world titles to her name
Legante heads to Jesolo with ambitions of success in both shot put and discus events
is also scheduled to compete in 1500m race
a distance where he has a European bronze to his name
And not to forget about the incredibly talented Maxcel Amo Manu
He has already beat Germany’s Felix Streng and has dreams of improving on his personal best of 10.75 at some point this year – perhaps at a Grand Prix
Sixty-five nations will be represented in Jesolo
with a huge contingent from across Europe as the Para athletics action moves to the region for the next few months
The energetic Sara Andres Barrio will be competing for Spain
2018 European champion Angelina Lanza for France
Johannes Floors and Leon Schaefer are just three of their standout names…we could list a lot of names
but the best way is by following the action as it happens
there are top selections from the likes of Japan
Omara Durand will also be returning to the Grand Prix circuit in Europe off the back of her Xalapa success
The Xalapa Grand Prix only took place last month
but it threw us some moments that we’ll remember for a long time to come
claiming a wealth of medals across names new and old
including golds for Jose Rodolfo Chessani Garcia and Jorge Benjamin Gonzalez Sauceda
With a largely North and South American feel in the start lists
it was a very different line-up to what Jesolo offers
Every second of Jesolo will be available to view across both the World Para Athletics Facebook page and the Italian Paralympic Federation’s page
Keep an eye on our channels too for the very best moments appearing across your feeds
It is to the familiar setting of Nottwil we go for our final Grand Prix
it will bring the curtain down on GP’s for the 2022/2023 season
we still have something big to come this year: Paris 2023 Para Athletics World Championships

dreaming of being able to take the stage in front of a large audience

Performing a new French can-can instead of her crowdpleasing Britney Spears' '...Baby One More Time' routine, Saraiva scored 13.600. That was the same as Soares and identical execution scores saw them tied for first place.
Manila Esposito of Italy also posted 13.600 but her execution mark of 7.900 meant she finished third.
