and the former TV star has a new lady: enter Lana Sutton
Sutton is a retired teacher and a one-time part-owner of a video production company, Turner confirmed to TMZ on April 24
one thing is clear: she’s all about family and is in her mid-50s
In a twist worthy of any rom-com, the pair first connected when Sutton sent Turner a friend request on Facebook
Although they didn’t know each other personally
Turner couldn’t resist accepting since they shared mutual friends
Turner initially overlooked Sutton's first message
But it was her second message that captured his attention — she mentioned growing up just 20 minutes away from him in Indiana and still living in the area
The chemistry was undeniable — they went on their first date in March 2025 and have been inseparable ever since
Gerry Turner married 'Golden Bachelor' finalist Theresa Nist briefly before divorcing
as Turner revealed that Sutton has already met his adult daughters
she has daughters that I really relate to," he shared
He added: "So we’ve been around each other briefly
Gerry Turner announced his relationship with Lana Sutton during a heartfelt podcast interview
Turner couldn’t keep his excitement bottled up any longer. He spilled the beans about his new romance during an episode of Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt’s "Bachelor Happy Hour" podcast on April 15
but I don’t wanna say too much and jinx it," he shared
"And I kind of want to slow roll this," adding he wants to respect the time since his divorce
Gerry Turner admitted he informed Theresa Nist of his relationship with Lana Sutton before going Instagram official
He even had a heart-to-heart with his Nist
telling her about Sutton before going public
Reflecting on his previous marriage, he said, “I felt like maybe I was a source of bad feelings and the negativity… So I kind of avoided talking to her. Just, I thought it was better if we gave each other space.”

Celebrating the Life of Lana Hall Archibald Gunnell
a woman whose laughter was as bright as a sunny day on the golf course
gracefully concluded her earthly adventure on April 28
to Melvin Hendry Archibald and Stella Allen Hall Archibald
Lana embraced life with a spirited heart and a twinkle in her eye
Lana excelled in the fine art of making everyone around her feel loved and appreciated
While she didn't necessarily climb the corporate ladder in a traditional sense
her career was one of nurturing relationships
and offering a listening ear (often accompanied by a perfectly crocheted afghan)
Her dedication to her family was her truest vocation
and she managed it with the precision of a seasoned golfer lining up a perfect putt
Lana was a force of nature wrapped in a cozy sweater
their partnership was a testament to enduring love and shared laughter
they built a beautiful life and raised five wonderful children: Sherice (Kent) Yearsley
Lana’s joy multiplied with the arrival of her 10 grandchildren and then blossomed further with 9 great-grandchildren
each of whom brought a sparkle to her already bright eyes
She was the matriarch who could always be counted on for a comforting hug
and maybe even a slightly competitive game of cards
Lana had a zest for life that was truly infectious
Whether she was perfecting her swing on the golf course
creating intricate patterns with her crochet hook
or gracefully gliding across the dance floor
she approached every activity with enthusiasm and a smile
Her wonderful sense of humor could lighten any mood
and her love for camping and the great outdoors was a testament to her adventurous spirit
She was also a fiercely loyal fan of the Utah State Aggies
and family gatherings often revolved around cheering (or occasionally bemoaning) their football and basketball games on television
we also celebrate the vibrant life she lived
She now joins those who preceded her in death
and her dear sisters Barbara Jane Blanthorn and Melva Lee “Mae” Summers
We can only imagine the joyous reunion happening
likely filled with laughter and perhaps a good-natured debate about the best way to knit a sweater
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday
A viewing to honor Lana’s life will be held on Sunday
from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the White Pine Funeral Home
and from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to the graveside on Monday at the funeral home
Lana will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her
and her unwavering love will forever be etched in our hearts
We’re pretty sure she’s already found the best golf course in the great beyond and is probably teaching the angels how to crochet the perfect heavenly doily

Lana Pudar, a butterfly specialist from Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, has committed to swim and study at the University of Virginia beginning next fall. She wrote on social media:
A post shared by Lana Pudar (@lanapudar)
The social media post coincided with a press conference in her home country at the Olympic Committee’s headquarters
“I will do my best to justify this opportunity and to use it in the best possible way,” Pudar said
expressed the joy that Pudar’s results had brought to her home country
but also used the opportunity to stump for enhancements to domestic sporting facilities and resources
“But today, along with pride, we also feel bitterness. Because Lana Pudar
a champion who carried the name of Bosnia and Herzegovina around the world
must continue her career outside the borders of her homeland
in search of what she did not have here: a swimming pool in her hometown of Mostar
and a serious sports environment,” he said
“What is still missing is a system that recognizes and builds the future through sport
It is time for athletes to no longer be left to their own devices and their own sacrifices
It is time for serious and sustainable sports development.”
Her coach and manager Damir Đedović will remain involved in her training and development “The main condition was that Lana Pudar would have equal treatment as the best American swimmers
one of the conditions was that I would have access to the training process
that I could participate in further development and education
because Lana would eventually return to BiH,” he said
She was the bronze medalist in the 200 fly last February at the World Aquatics Championships-Doha 2024
clocking a 2:07.92 to deny Rachel Klinker of the U.S
She achieved her best time in the event at the LEN European Junior Championships in 2023
4.4 seconds ahead of runner-up Alina Baievych of Germany
she won gold medals in the 100 fly (57.77) and 200 fly (2:07.20
a meet record) and was runner-up in the 50 fly (26.26) at the World Junior Swimming Championships in Netanya
Her best 100 fly time comes from Euro Juniors
Pudar represented Bosnia & Herzegovina at both the Tokyo Olympics and the Paris Olympics
she was a semi-finalist in the 200 fly (12th with 2:08.74) and finished 17th in prelims of the 100 fly (57.97)
Pudar’s best converted times would have scored in the A finals of the 100/200 fly at 2025 NCAA Division I Championships
The Cavaliers will lose both Walsh sisters to graduation this spring
so the addition of Pudar will help to fill the holes they leave in both events
While the conversions are more conservative
Pudar has a better long course best time in the 200 fly than anybody in the NCAA did last season – about six-tenths better than her Virginia teammate Tess Howley (1:51.79)
she becomes a co-favorite for the NCAA title with fellow freshman Alex Shackell at Indiana after the top two from last year’s meet (Emma Sticklen
Alex Walsh) both exhausted their eligibility
She also seems likely to contribute to Virginia’s 800 free relay and maybe their 400 free relay too with some development in both distances
The Cavaliers have historically focused mostly on Americans in recruiting – South African Aimee Canny
and Japanese Alex Hotta on the men’s team are the only current internationally-based swimmers currently at Virginia
and Kris Mihalyov from South Africa are shifting that paradigm a bit
All are expected to join the team during the 2025-2026 season

What gets lost in the chatter is that UVA has a couple of cohorts of elite swimmers who have great chances at showing up next season in a big way
little is said about Midenko’s sprint prowess
The 2 international Olympians will join a number of others in the pool abd get training and weights that they’ve never had
and training alongside of some spint and versalitity legends
Almost all have lots of years of eligibility and a lot of depth
I agree that this much talent will probably cause some issues on the back end
Are you thinking of Padar who is going to Texas
for her better option should have been De Sorbo as she is pure sprinter
I know both of them in person if you are fast you go to sprinting coach
if you have endurance and versatility you go to Bowman
except for Bowman as he did same thing twice with MP and with LM
Bowman isn’t coaching the Texas women’s undergraduate team
Bowman is only coaching the men’s team and the pro team
Sure someone like Lana could go to Texas hoping his influence would rub off on her or that she could join the pro team eventually
but both of those things are a huge stretch
And DeSorbo is a great coach with proven success on the women’s side
This Pudar/Padar mixup is going to be real for the next few months lol
If you want to save 15% or more on car insurance
Daily chirp: have fun at the aerobic graveyard
the article already notes it but its pretty interesting the pointy end of the next few classes are much more international than in years past
i wonder this general w other schools as well but how many of these elite international recruits are inbound vs outbound
iow which party generally initiates contact
I think the Virginia staff’s focus on internationals in the past few months has more to do with striking out on the domestic 2025 and 2026 recruits they really wanted
you’ll see something similar if they don’t get one or more of Erisman
Yep – while their 2025 class is objectively fantastic
I also think the smaller roster size and training groups will be more attractive to the international stars
Until this group of current HOOs came through they did not have a ton of international hardware now they do and that leads to credibility as well
Last paragraph includes what will probably be an increasingly common typo
Texas commit Nikolett Padar of Hungary 🇭🇺 mixed up with Lana 🇧🇦
“far to early” UVA relay predictions-
If there’s a freshman year adjustment period where Mintenko takes a temporary step back then replace her with Canny on the 400FR and Hayes on the 800FR
Mintenko is also 22.0 in 50 — pretty nice 5th option backup plan for that relay
Pretty solid line up all around…Novelline could also slide into the shorter medley and free relays
Think she split 22 low/mid in the fly last year
So is anyone else winning Women’s NCAAs this decade
before all the newly announced swimmers post NCAAs it looked like Virginia at the advantage for 26 (but still needed to perform quite well)
but vulnerable in 27 (with the insane class Tennessee has + the compounded losses); Now
not so much since Virginia looks not only been in all the big names
but really will only lose a few scorers after 2026 and are set up well for 26-28
If Bella goes to Cal they got a shot a number #2
And then we’ll see if anyone hits the portal (my guess is the draw of the Stanford degree with keep most there)
but could they win a dual meet against their own alumni
are still training so they might be too slow now to beat the college kids who are regularly practicing
I think Maxine Parker is still training though
the the domestic class of 2027 as a whole is much stronger than the recent few classes
if they all converge on the same program (other than uva) as they have done recently that could tip the balance
Just curious on details of why you think this class is stronger

The Desert Sun has been documenting every day of the Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals with a summary of its “highs and lows.”
But while I am not usually one to object to journalistic conventions
I must admit that putting together a highs and low story almost felt a little silly today
the multitude of fantastic sets and a generally jubilant vibe that just makes you feel glad to attend an event like this
it almost feels wrong to spend time dwelling on any trivial lows at all
and a job’s a job — and I would like to keep mine — so here we go: the highs and lows from Day 1 of the 2025 Stagecoach country music festival
THE HIGHSA high-power double feature in the Palomino with Mumford & Sons and Lana Del ReyOne of the magical things about a major music festival is being able to go from watching one major artist to another
what took place in the Palomino tent — which is supposed to be the festival's secondary venue — Friday
Without moving a step (and actually moving was not really advisable given how jam-packed the entire area around the tent was)
I was treated to back-to-back goosebumps-inducing sets by two certified megastars
Del Rey’s set let out just as Zach Bryan was taking the stage
which was one of the most visually impressive things I have ever seen in my life
But after two weekends of constant visual stimulation at Coachella
there’s just something refreshing about showing up at Stagecoach and seeing dudes (and ..
dudettes?) just playing their heart out on a mostly barely stage
who played his entire set backed by a script with his own name
some of the later artists will likely have a more intricate set but for now I'm digging the stripped-down feel
I’m not sure why Goldenvoice chose to give today a “Friday Night Lights” theme and encourage people to wear sports jerseys
It could’ve been an acknowledgement of the second day of the NFL draft or maybe they were just looking to tone down on the bombastic political shirts that are usually a fixture of the festival
There was something cool about seeing jerseys for teams from all over the country, and I enjoyed using the festival as a sort of referendum on where people were coming from, or at least what teams they like. For example, who would’ve thought there would see so many Buffalo Bills jerseys here
the Fresno-raised-turned-Wyoming U-alum Josh Allen does seem like a real country boy
Plus, it was fun to feel a sense of kinship whenever I passed somewhere wearing a Broncos jersey or one from one of my other Denver teams
THE LOWSStagecoach does the women dirty (especially early afternoon acts like Avery Anna)You've probably heard this said before
As if having no female headliners for the second time in the past four years wasn’t bad enough
we watched several sets by women who deserved much higher billing and better set times than they got on Friday
who was relegated to an early 30-minute set in the glorified closet that is the Toyota Music Den
Luckily she seemed to be having the time of her life as she played to a packed crowd (all the proof we needed that she was playing on too small of a stage)
You couldn’t find any room for Anna in the Palomino or even the Bud Light Backyard
Sierra Ferrell got better placement in the Palomino but also played a memorable set that left me feeling like she could’ve more than held her own on the Mane Stage
And then there was Indio’s own American Idol champ Abi Carter, who was given a scant 20 minutes that came and went in a blink of an eye shortly after the gates opened
Carter may still be trying to find her breakout hit
but she still deserved better than that from her hometown festival
More: Stagecoach 2025 review: Alana Springsteen shines but deserves a better stage and time slot
while it probably created an intoxicating high for the artists themselves
I think the lack of space inside made for a subpar experience for many who paid hundreds of dollars to attend
and it’s hard serving food for upwards of 100,000 people at a festival
But I couldn’t help but shake my head when I was handed a pulled-pork sandwich from one of the BBQ tents (and keep in mind this fest hypes its BBQ almost as hard as it does its music) and there
there didn’t seem to be any bottles of barbecue in sight to apply some
the sandwich didn’t taste half bad without it
Stagecoach and Flavortown mayor Guy Fieri would surely have had a stroke if he saw this

Helena “Lana” Allaire duPont Wright
the first woman to compete in Olympic three-day eventing
Today we take for granted that equestrian disciplines are the only Olympic sports in which men and women compete on equal footing
but it was just over 60 years ago that duPont
broke a glass ceiling with her selection to the 1964 U.S
She died just before the start of the 2025 Defender Kentucky CCI5*-L
where more than half of this year’s entrants were women
As news of her passing spread around the Kentucky Horse Park
riders there reflected on Wright’s role in the sport
Equestrian Federation Chief of Sport David O’Connor described Wright as “an icon” who was a “huge supporter of the sport.” Upper-level eventer Allison Springer described her as someone who “shaped equestrian sport in this country,” paving the way for other women in eventing
Seven-time Olympian Phillip Dutton recalled doing his first event in the United States at the Middletown Pony Club Horse Trials
which she hosted at her Unicorn Farm in Chesapeake City
“She was a great horsewoman who lived a great life,” he said
In honor of her life and her contributions to horse sport
a version of which first appeared in Untacked magazine
“Not many people ever win a medal at the international level, so when I mention that Lana has won medals in two equestrian disciplines, you begin to realize that you are in the presence of someone special,” emcee James C. Wofford explained at the 2012 U.S. Eventing Association Hall of Fame induction ceremony for Lana duPont Wright
“That those medals happened nearly 20 years apart gives you an insight into her abiding passion for all things equestrian.”
Wright made history by becoming the first woman to compete in Olympic eventing when she was named a member of the U.S
Equestrian Team at the 1964 Tokyo Games aboard her fabled Mr
and Wright—never one to brag—recalled that there were
“not a lot of horses around from which to select a team
Olympic selection was more about survival of the fittest.”
Wister breaking several bones in his jaw,” Wright recalled in the U.S
Equestrian Team Book of Riding. “We were badly disheveled and shaken
but Wister was nonetheless eager to continue
We fell a second time near the end of the course
we proved that a woman could get around an Olympic cross-country course
and nobody could have said that we looked feminine at the finish.”
women joined one of the few Olympic sports where men and women compete on an equal basis,” Wofford said at the 2012 ceremony
“Considering that eventing competitors are currently 88 percent female
I would especially like for the ladies in the room tonight to consider a time
We now take it for granted that women will stand on an Olympic podium
Wright’s earliest memories of horses all include her mother
who was a keen foxhunter and breeder of the legendary race horse Kelso.
“I would go out and hunt with her any time I could,” Wright said
noting how much she also learned about horse care from her mother’s groom
Wright began to focus more seriously on riding.
“My senior year I was able to go in my first event,” she said
adding quickly that she knew very little about how a competition went
[But] no one knew anything about the sport and everyone else lost their way or got eliminated
so I ended up winning; it made me very hungry.”
H.] Stewart Treviranus held a clinic,” she said
“Trish Gilbert was there; we built the cross-country and the steeplechase courses
That was where I learned a little and also did more dressage with Richard Watjen at Sunnyfield farm in New York.”
In 1961 Wright realized her dream of competing at the Badminton Horse Trials (England)
prior to which she spent two months in training with the legendary Capt
Wister was one Mother had given me off the racetrack
“He was a bit of a rogue and could buck me off whenever he chose
but after a year or so he was all changed; he was awesome and took me to Badminton.”
Eventing in the United states was still very much in its infancy
so arriving at Badminton was “an eye opener,” she admitted
“But we did get around; we did all right.”
The 10th-place performance helped earn them their Olympic berth.
and when I look back I couldn’t have done any different
because I was learning the best way I could,” Wright said of her eventing career
Wright focused on her family and foxhunting
Lucy and Beale (who was a successful event rider until her premature death from an illness in 2005).
But as an ambitious equestrienne with a quiet competitive streak
So she mounted the box seat and garnered more international success.
“I took to driving when my eventing days were over because I didn’t have a horse to ride,” said Lana
who went on to win team gold at the World Pairs Driving Championships with her Connemara ponies in 1991
She also founded and organized the Fair Hill Combined Driving Event in Maryland.
“because I just loved to investigate the countryside and would go out riding for miles without telling anyone,” she took up endurance riding
Lana will be remembered as a pioneer for women in eventing
but those who met her in the hunt field or watched her driving or endurance riding will attest to the many attributes that make her an all-round horsewoman worthy of a place in the history books.
and her achievement is incomparable; there never was anyone like Lana

Lana Verschage, director of Diversity Initiatives and Women in Computing in RIT’s Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences
The award was given at a celebration on April 17
The Edwina Award, from the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Resource Center
is given to a faculty or staff member for significant contributions to enhance gender diversity and inclusiveness at RIT
who was appointed dean of the College of Business in 1960
She was the first female dean at RIT and the first woman to lead a business school in the United States
“I’m genuinely surprised and honored to be recognized,” said Verschage
and students—is incredibly affirming and motivates me to keep pushing for positive change.”
As the first full-time director of Women in Computing (WiC) in the computing college
Verschage has helped grow and sustain the student organization and community that connects people across the university and beyond
WiC has grown from 10 members to more than 60 and secured more than $900,000 in funding
“I’ve always believed that representation matters—not just in who is present
but in who feels like they truly belong,” Verschage said
I saw firsthand how isolating it could be for women and marginalized groups
That experience fueled my passion to create inclusive spaces where students not only see themselves reflected but also feel empowered to thrive.”
WiC is dedicated to promoting the success and development of women and all gender minorities in their academic and professional careers
Verschage supported the creation of an Allies committee to discuss gender-related issues in computing and host/support events to help encourage resolution
“One of the first things I think of when I reflect on Lana’s leadership is empowerment,” said Gina Shevchuk
assistant dean for Student Success in GCCIS
“I admire how she grew WiC from a small idea into what it is today by empowering our students to take the lead
The structure of WiC enables the students to lead committees which effectively put the power of the mission right into the hands of the students it aims to serve.”
With WiC, Verschage has helped create the impactful WiCHacks program—RIT’s first all-women and gender minority hackathon
The 24-hour collaborative programing event regularly gets more than 200 participants from across the northeast
The group has also offered Girl Scout Badge Days in computing
Verschage serves as the inaugural Title IX Deputy Coordinator for GCCIS and oversees the Computing Organization for Multicultural Students. She was also instrumental in creating ROCGirlHacks

More Song Sales chart as fans await her next full-length
FRANCE - AUGUST 21: Lana Del Rey performs during the Rock en Seine Festival on August 21
The singer-songwriter has a new album coming soon
though no one knows exactly when it will arrive
both recently-released singles released from the forthcoming project have become hits in the United States
Del Rey even manages to score back-to-back top 10 wins on one tally
Fans are ravenous for anything new from the superstar
and they seem excited about the slightly new sonic direction she’s exploring – and they’ve shown that they’re willing to purchase anything shared from the upcoming bestselling project
"Bluebird" is the latest single taken from Del Rey’s as-yet-untitled upcoming full-length
The latest track debuts on four Billboard rankings this week
Del Rey’s "Bluebird" flies into the top 10 on just one of the four tallies on which it arrives
9 on the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart
which ranks only the top-selling tunes in that one style on platforms like iTunes and Amazon
The singer-songwriter collects her twenty-third top 10 smash on the Alternative Digital Song Sales ranking this frame
That total is a little more than half of the 41 tracks she has sent to the tally throughout her career
4 on the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart
It also launched in nearly the same slot on the Rock Digital Song Sales tally
"Bluebird" also manages to flap its wings and appear on three other Billboard charts following its first full frame of availability in America
Come On" in giving Del Rey back-to-back top 10s on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart — which she achieves on the alternative version of the list — but it misses the highest tier by two spots
The cut is also a winner on two consumption-based rankings
21 on the Hot Alternative Songs list and at No
25 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart
Come On" no longer appears on a number of the lists it debuted on last frame
but it does manage to spend a second week on a pair of tallies
It drops more than 10 spots on both the Hot Rock Songs (No
23) and Hot Rock & Alternative Songs (No
Del Rey manages to double up on the latter list
with both singles from her forthcoming full-length taking up space at the same time — and this may be the only instance of that happening

The USEA is saddened to share the passing of Helena "Lana" Allaire duPont Wright
passed away peacefully at home on April 23 at the age of 85
Wright was a “First Lady” in the equestrian world
She was an avid and extremely accomplished horsewoman growing up in a foxhunting family in Delaware
After graduating from Oldfields School her life revolved around horses
she set a record as the first female to ride in Olympic three-day eventing
she was a member of the first United States pair driving team to win a gold medal at a World Driving Championship
Among her many equestrian accolades, in 2012 she was inducted into the United States Eventing Association Hall of Fame and in 2015 was awarded the United States Equestrian Federation Lifetime Achievement Award
The endurance challenge was one Wright was passionate about in both eventing and driving so it was a natural progression that her equestrian career continued to competing in endurance taking her to the Pan American Endurance Championship in Winnipeg
Wright continued to enjoy foxhunting long after her competitive years
Wright touched countless lives sharing her love of horses
and property inspiring and encouraging young equestrians through the United States Pony Club
She was never happier than when taking her daughter and grandchildren on a picnic trail ride on horseback at Fair Hill (Elkton
Maryland) where she devoted hours designing and building combined driving and endurance riding courses for Fair Hill International
Wright is survived by her daughter Lucy Dunne (Michael) of Reading
She was predeceased by her parents Richard C
contributions may be made payable to “Fair Hill International
The USEA sends our deepest condolences to all of Wright's family
and those in the equestrian community who are impacted by Wright's passing
The 2025 USEA Intercollegiate & Interscholastic Eventing Championships were an incredible success
ushering the programs forward as the first standalone championships knock on the door for 2026
The Intercollegiate and IEL Programs were merged for their year-end championships to ensure that the USEA’s junior and young adult members have a goal to continue to pursue their passion for eventing throughout their educational years and beyond
and the support the event has received in the last two years has been astounding
A pre-purchase examination (PPE) is big part of investing in a new eventing partner
but there are so many options and add-ons that can be done in a PPE that the process can feel a bit daunting

Amidst the unbridled enthusiasm of the USEA Intercollegiate teams competing in this weekend’s USEA Intercollegiate & Interscholastic Eventing Championships at Stable View (Aiken
the Interscholastic Eventing League (IEL) riders have held their own with displays of teamwork and horsemanship all weekend long
While all teams put their best foot forward
The Iron Bridge Hounds Pony Club came into the weekend with one goal in mind—to win
They achieved that goal by such a large margin
that they were able to claim the title of champions before their last rider
The University of Kentucky has claimed top honors at the 2025 USEA Intercollegiate Eventing Championship
they not only secured the title of “School with the Largest Presence” once again
but also rode away with their second national championship title

In anticipation of the drop of this mysterious
here’s my take on Del Rey’s latest releases and how they’ve changed my predictions for the future of her music
To me, “Henry, Come On” sounds straight out of Del Rey’s 2021 album, Blue Bannisters, echoing the lyricism and musicality she explores in tracks like “Violets for Roses” and “Sweet Carolina.” An achingly beautiful ballad with a cinematic take on older style country
Come On” is a clear indicator of the Southern Gothic genre Del Rey ascribed to the album upon its original announcement
While the upbeat modernity of “Tough” may have led some listeners astray in their predictions for Del Rey’s newest sound
I’m certainly not disappointed with her old-school approach
If you’re looking for the poppy twang of current chart-toppers in the industry
the orchestral strings and slow crescendos characteristic of “Henry
is the most obvious hallmark of its country inflections
Verses like “Tell him that his cowgirl is gone” and “Soft leather
blue jeans” are scattered throughout “Henry
Come On” and will surely make their way into many a “Lana Summer” post on social media in the coming months.
Come On” made its entrance as another solid addition to Del Rey’s extensive repertoire
“Bluebird” is my strong preference of the two
Come On” is stunted by its attempts to stay within the bounds of straightforward
It feels almost as if Del Rey hesitated to push the linguistic depth of “Henry
Come On,” relying on literal inclusions of cowboy-inspired lyrics rather than delving as deeply as she could into country music’s signature storytelling style
“Bluebird,” with an equally beautiful instrumental composition
Where the lead single outright states the new direction of Del Rey’s music
“Bluebird” quickly picks up and grows in warmth until its final acoustic chords
With incorporations of her iconic chamber pop flair
Del Rey’s vocal mastery in “Bluebird” is both soothing and harrowing
a true testament to her classic trifecta: deep-cut lyricism
cinematic instrumentation and timelessly beautiful vocals.
Based on these past two drops, I can’t say for certain what Del Rey’s May album holds in store. In all likelihood, she will mimic the country music entrances of other well-known artists in recent years. If you’re familiar with Post Malone’s F-1 Trillion (2024) and Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter (2024)
you’ll know that both artists put their signature spin on country
making sure to include influences from the musical styles that originally made them famous — pop for Malone and hip-hop with bluesy R&B elements for Beyoncé
Based on what we’ve seen so far from both tracks
especially “Bluebird,” Del Rey intends to do the same
incorporating uplifting vocals with an Americana style that is sure to stand out in the coming summer months
Charlotte Feehan is a freshman in the College of Arts and Sciences
Although singer Lana Del Rey is known for her melancholic
she showed she has the chops for the Stagecoach crowd as she played a special country set Friday night in the Palomino tent
Rey has teased a foray into country music for a few years now
is expected to have elements of the genre sprinkled in with her classic indie pop vibe
The singer debuted a number of recent singles and new songs during her Stagecoach set
while also bringing her ethereal and dreamy song stylings to the forefront
Rey's whole set channeled a 1950s Americana vibe
as she was wearing a white dress and had her hair in short curls
Her backdrop consisted of a wooden cabin with a wide porch where you could picture someone sitting out front and listening to her tunes from a rocking chair all day long
Surrounded by greenery hanging from the ceiling and on the stage too
the audience felt transported to a far away land
and the only thing they had to pay attention to was Rey's smooth and powerful voice
More: Lana Del Rey setlist: Everything the indie singer sang during her Stagecoach 2025 set
It took a while for Rey to emerge from the cabin — the set began about 10 minutes late — and the first glimpse people got of her was her silhouette from one of the windows
But when she finally kicked things off with a new song (we think it's called "Husband of Mine")
the crowd couldn't contain their excitement
The singer was visibly in shock at how many people turned out for her in the ultra-packed Palomino
"It never (ceases to) surprise me, the volume of a crowd," she said at one point. Though Rey shouldn't be so surprised at her draw, she did headline the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival last year, after all
The singer recently released the singles "Henry
Come On" and "Bluebird" off her upcoming album
which blend Americana and country sounds with her usual sultry and melancholic style
Though the songs have only been out for a few days
fans in the audience were already belting the lyrics out
and those who weren't familiar with them were fully enjoying the easy listening vibe and swaying back and forth
the latter song was performed by what appeared to be a hologram of Rey
Perhaps this will join the music festival hologram hall of fame
right after the Tupac moment at Coachella 2012
A few other debuts at the festival also had a similar blend of her typical sound
as she showed off a bit of spunk at her impressive career achievements
touting her "57.5 million listeners on Spotify."
But don't let her confident remarks fool you
Rey was very generous with her spotlight Friday night
bringing out several pals to share the stage during her set
with whom she sang his tune "Cowboy Songs." When they finished the song
Rey requested that they sing the chorus one more time
but because she said she was having issues with her mic pack (she had been fiddling with it earlier in the set as well)
Given how great she sounded during the evening
and how well the sound was coming through the speakers
it was hard to believe she was experiencing any problems
she welcomed The Secret Sisters country-folk duo consisting of Laura Rogers and Lydia Slagle
along with a handful of background singers
brought a soulful and angelic version of Rey's "Let the Light In" to life
Rey returned to a number of her hits/fan favorites from the past
The crowd had their phones up and were singing along to the words of "Ride," "Video Games" and "Norman F****** Rockwell" when they were performed one after the other
came out in a red strapless dress and started singing from the words "I got my red dress on tonight."
her background dancers and production design deserve a lot of praise as they were enchanting to watch as well
During one of Rey's new hauntingly delicate songs
the dancers were playing with a dollhouse before entering the cabin
which appeared to be burning (mimicking the lyrics to the song)
The female dancers were also often seen on the roof of the home and waving to audience members
The audience was in the palm of her hands all night
and she knew exactly what to do to send festivalgoers off with one last smile on their faces: Sing a cover of John Denver's "Take Me Home
It was a joyous singalong that everyone in the Palomino could get behind
With a grand showcase of her vocal talents and new music
Rey proved that she feels right at home in the Americana/country genre
If only May 21 would come sooner so we could hear the full album

While Lana Del Rey debuted her new song “57.5” at Stagecoach April 25
she revealed she once kissed country singer Morgan Wallen prior to her marriage with Jeremy Dufrene
Lana Del Rey appears to have had some help coming up with this new lyric
Indeed, the “Summertime Sadness” singer recently admitted she had a romantic moment with Morgan Wallen in a verse for her new song “57.5,” which she debuted at Stagecoach April 25
“I kissed Morgan Wallen,” Lana—who married Jeremy Dufrene in September 2024—said during her performance at the country music festival
“I guess kissing me kind of went to his head
I suggest don’t go ATVing with him when you’re out West.”
the 39-year-old alluded to her quickly regretting the decision
noting before she debuted the eyebrow-raising lyric
“This is the last time I’m ever gonna say this line.”
News has reached out to Morgan’s rep but has not yet heard back
But Morgan wasn’t the only one to get a shoutout in Lana’s latest performance
Elsewhere in the song—which discusses fame and her “57.5 million listeners on Spotify”—she alludes to her new romance with her alligator tour guide husband
“Now I got a man,” Lana sang toward the end of the song
“He wasn’t really a fan of mine and that 57.5 million listeners on Spotify.”
Lana and Jeremy officially tied the knot in a private Louisiana ceremony in September and the “Brooklyn Baby” singer has made it clear that they are a match made to last
“Jeremy is the one and only,” Lana commented on a fan account in October
And while announcing her headlining slot at Stagecoach earlier this month
Lana also shared a glimpse into her newlywed bliss
Alongside photos of her and her new man celebrating and showing off some subtle PDA, Lana gushed in an April 4 Instagram post

Vocals of honey and heartbreak have crafted Lana Del Rey’s signature cocktail of glamourous yet ghostly stories of nostalgia
Melodies of myth and mystery have shaped her first nine studio albums
Her newest anticipated release promises to carry on her legacy
The official title was announced late last year
the album was teased in January of 2024 under the intended title of “Lasso”
The project underwent a second title change before Del Rey officially settled on “The Right Person Will Stay”
In October of last year, in interviews with publications such as Vogue Italia and People Magazine
she shared that the project was reconsidered due to changes in the artistic and musical atmosphere
“So I don’t want to turn it into something that’s half cooked
I want it to be what it was supposed to be,” Lana said
A southern gothic sound influenced by elements of country is expected
As teased by Del Rey herself and supported by the collaborators on the album
such as highly sought-after songwriter and producer Luke Laird
He is most notably known for his work with Tim McGraw and many other award-winning country artists
An official tracklist is yet to be released; fan speculation and rumor
“I Must Be Stupid for Being So Happy” and “Roses Bloom for You”
Her two singles released so far utilize twangy finger-plucked guitar and layered country textures to backdrop Del Rey’s lyrics of melancholy. They solidly establish the predicted country influences with the usage of common Southern slang and imagery
The singles together express the sentiment that yes he left her, as they are all doomed to do. Painted first in the lyrics of Henry, Come On
Lana sang about hearing God say to her “You were born to be the one/To hold thе hand of the man /Who flies too close to thе sun”
In Blue Bird
she expands on the imagery of Icarus to explain the habit of pushing her partner to fulfill their density of doom for the relationship
Sung in the chorus of Blue Bird “Just shoot for the sun ’til I can finally run”. A story of staying despite her belief the relationship is doomed
This resulted in self-sabotage by encouraging his pursuit of the sun
The record starts strong with a carefully curated
old classic Southern tale of self-reflection
Primarily a reflection of her habits in love and losing it
most likely brought on by this being the first album she’s released since her recent marriage
The foundation she’s built preceding the release and her historical thematic schemes of glamour
Fans can prepare for a record to continue her musical legacy that has defined and reshaped the sound of an entire generation

She has released two singles from the effort and earned back-to-back wins in the United Kingdom, with one tune arriving this frame and pushing its predecessor down on multiple rankings. “Bluebird” is the latest single taken from Del Rey’s upcoming, as-yet-untitled album. This frame, the song opens on a trio of charts in the U.K., thanks largely to her devoted following showing up to purchase it.
“Bluebird” debuts highest on the Official Singles Downloads chart, starting at No. 49. It doesn’t open much lower on the Official Singles Sales tally, where it enters at No. 53.
Del Rey’s latest track also manages to find its way onto the Official Singles chart, coming in at No. 80. That tally accounts for both sales and streaming activity. However, as “Bluebird” does not appear on the list of the most-streamed tunes in the country, it seems that purchases on platforms like iTunes and Amazon are largely responsible for its debut position.
Last week, Del Rey scored another new hit. “Henry, Come On” opened in an even loftier position than “Bluebird” has this frame. Now in its second turn on multiple tallies, the cut is still present on all three of the charts where “Bluebird” opens, though it has slipped behind its successor.
Just days ago, “Henry, Come On” launched at No. 30 on the Official Singles chart. Now, it has dropped more than 50 spaces to No. 84, which stands as its highest placement in the U.K. at the moment. It also descends noticeably to No. 89 on the downloads-only tally and barely holds on to a spot on the Official Singles Sales roster, where it plummets more than 30 slots to No. 96.
A totally unrelated cut from Del Rey is also proving to be a bestseller in the U.K., helping her score multiple wins from different eras of her huge career. “Candy Necklace,” which is featured on her album Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, returns to a pair of lists this frame. The cut, a collaboration with Jon Batiste — though he’s not credited on the U.K. rankings — frequently drops off and reappears on both the Official Vinyl Singles and Official Physical Singles charts.
This time around, it becomes a top 40 win on both tallies, landing at Nos. 34 and 38, respectively, after not finding space just a few days ago.

Gerry Turner has been dating a woman named Lana since March 2025
Lana was an avid horseback rider, a regular at the gym, taught swimming lessons each summer and enjoyed her women’s Tuesday night golf league at Valley View Country Club. Her compassion extended to animals of all kinds; she volunteered to feed baby raccoons and was a proud dog mom to Maggie and Ollie.
Those left to cherish her memory include her parents, Larry and Wanda Stahl of Cambridge; children, Olivia (Keegan) Smith of Davenport, IA, Drake McDonough of Cambridge, and Gavin McDonough of Cambridge; grandson, Emmett Smith; brother, Lonny (Naomi) Stahl of Cambridge; and several aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

“I guess kissing me kind of went to his head / If you want my secret to success / I suggest don’t go ATV-ing with him when you’re out west…

others are disappointed about the supposed confession
In case you’re not familiar with Wallen’s list of controversies, let me catch you up. Most recently, the singer sparked outrage for abruptly leaving the Saturday Night Live stage in March before posting the meme-able quote “Get me to God’s country” on his Instagram story
And that’s probably the most tame example of his “problematic” behavior since his breakout season of The Voice in 2014
he was sentenced to seven days in a DUI education center and two years supervised probation

While one comment with over 20,000 likes begged other fans not to “come for” Del Rey
describing the lyrics as “shade,” another fan wrote
The problem is that she was ok being with him even at the time.… He has been problematic for years.”
