or ‘where there is music there can be no evil’: these words from Don Quixote reflect the spirit of the Ravenna Festival
which has always found a space for confrontation and dialogue in music and the performing arts
but the title quotation of the Festival’s 36th edition also offers an opportunity to reflect on courage
from the classic epic to Cervantes’s knight-errant
up to today’s heroism: civil and spiritual courage
While Riccardo Muti opens the Festival on 31 May with his Cherubini Orchestra
the programme includes guests such as Zubin Mehta
Lakecia Benjamin… Once again this year
Ravenna Festival boasts more than one hundred performances
with the involvement of more than a thousand artists
thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture
the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Municipality of Ravenna

In group B everything is still up in the air: Lugo leads with 65 points, followed by Giovanili Santerno with 63 and Real Voltanese with 62 points, which also has the goal of exceeding 100 goals in the championship. However, this is not an easy feat, given that they will be playing at the "Montanari" in Santerno against Giovanili in a match that could be worth the top spot in the group but, in any case, is worth the second place that exempts them from the first round of the playoffs.

the Romagna Riviera is one of Italy’s most famous seaside destinations
Although it appears as a long stretch of uninterrupted sand
its beaches exhibit different characteristics along the coast
There are views for all tastes: wide and sandy beaches
everything perfectly integrated with the natural environment that has made this area one of Italy’s and Europe’s most desired destinations for more than 150 years
The whole Riviera has recently seen the start of a new project of renovation
which in some cases has completely changed the look of long stretches of coastline
thus transforming this “promenade” in one of Italy’s most beautiful ones
While keeping their typical seaside vocation
these landscapes have been adorned with green and sustainable infrastructures
in full respect of the delicate balance between the ecosystem of the beaches and the one of the hinterland
Cervia/Milano Marittima and Misano Adriatico are just some of the towns that have changed – or are changing – the look of their promenades
others in Cesenatico and the Lidi di Comacchio are being completed
A great “park” nestled between the Adriatic sea and the pine forests behind the dunes. This is the project – not finished yet – of the Ravenna’s Parco Marittimo
which has already started to change the beaches of the former historical capital
Environmentally-friendly wooden walkways, cycle and pedestrian paths, people-oriented services and a network of connections weaving together the sea to the complex ecosystem of the brackish lagoons, integral part of the Po Delta Park
We highly recommend a stroll at sunset on the most fascinating walkways
to fully enjoy the sound and smell of nature
In recent years, Milano Marittima and Cervia have renewed their waterfront
transforming it into an irresistible attraction
has connected the locality to the beach and its bathing establishments
This splendid promenade offers paths and wide green areas for relaxation
An example of beauty, functionality, and environmental sustainability. The new waterfront of San Mauro Mare (Fc) is a promenade of approximately 700 meters
It serves as a perfect connection between the tourist destination and the sea
The new waterfront of Bellaria-Igea Marina
dedicated to the legendary Raffaella Carrà
is a tribute to her unforgettable vitality and spirit
has transformed the area into a place for meeting and relaxation
Like the promenade of Miami, and even better! All kidding aside, the new promenade of the city – so-called Parco del Mare (Park of the Sea) – has really changed the look of the Marina of Rimini
where it is possible to relax between sun and salt
but also do various kinds of sports in the open-air – everything surrounded by a unique landscape
wellness and urban renovation are the main ingredients of this great project of redevelopment
Everything is surrounded by green and curated areas connecting the beach to the city
in the shade of fountain-trees inspired by Gianni Rodari and big R-shaped lamp posts paying homage to Romagna and Rimini
Nearly 4 kilometers of pure beauty make up the new Goethe and Shakespeare promenade of Riccione (RN)
exclusively reserved for pedestrians and cyclists
stretching from the Marano stream to Piazzale Azzarita
is a true green lung that breathes life into the dense hotel fabric facing the beach
residents and tourists flock to this area to exercise
and dine al fresco while enjoying the sea breeze
Green flowerbeds, cycle and pedestrian paths, art installations, benches, illumination and a cable radio system: all this, and much more, is the new promenade of Misano Adriatico
The renowned beach town, long known for its hospitality, its family-oriented services and the great sports appointments of the Misano World Circuit
can now boast an intervention that upgrades all the area from via D’Azeglio to via Passeggiata dei Fiori
Taking a stroll with the sea in front of your eyes and the sun over your head has never been so cool in Misano
Cattolica also surprises us with its new waterfront
which returns the traditional seaside promenade to residents and tourists
transforming a space once used as a summer connection between the city and the beach into a livable area year-round
This 800-meter seaside stretch connects the Tourist Port to the De Amicis Gardens
spaces dedicated to gentle and electric mobility
and areas for socialization and well-being
the enhancement of the town’s identity elements
thanks to the integration of the historic “Mura Majani,” tells the maritime history of the city

“I have an apartment on Murano where my glass studio is based
so that I can stay the night if it’s foggy
my weekend starts at home on the Lido with my wife
to buy their wonderful croissants for breakfast
Saturday is a magical day in the studio; it’s silent because the maestro isn’t working
It’s also when we open the furnaces to cool down the glass and I analyse the week’s work before my second coffee at Osteria ai Cacciatori
It’s where all the retired maestros and technicians meet to play cards and I see a lot of friends
I also have appointments with clients and artists on Saturdays – we have become popular because of Glasstress – and I’ll visit my gallery before lunch
is a Neopolitan who married a woman from Murano; he speaks the dialect and is loved by all
and then comes the best fish to be had on the island
Bruno goes every morning to Rialto to buy it and whatever he gets
but the regulars are antipasto misto with prawns and
I might take them on a walking tour of Murano for a short course in glassmaking
but his work remains a source of inspiration
And my friend Guido Ferro [of Yalos] is an alchemist in the way he mixes oxides and minerals to tailor the colour and composition of glass
I learn something from him every time I visit
Sometimes we’ll walk around Venice in the afternoon
Marya and I have recently discovered a little gem of a shop called Faidra Hanna Jewellery
Marya is Lebanese so it was great to buy her a gift from goldsmiths who have Lebanese
one of my favourite things to do with my family in Venice is to go to the terrace of the old Westin Europa & Regina hotel
with the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute right in front
as well as Isola di San Giorgio; and it’s steeped in history – the likes of Henry James and Simone de Beauvoir used to hang around here
We sometimes go to the island of Le Vignole
they prepare all the fish and display it so the children can choose for themselves
Or we’ll cycle from the centre of the Lido to the ferry and go to San Pietro
where Da Nane restaurant looks out over the lagoon; or to Burano
a restaurant that has been there for decades and whose risotto alla buranello is famous
The walls are covered with copies of paintings by artists who have eaten there – the real ones are in the back – and there are albums going back to 1930 full of drawings and dedications by people from Hemingway to Maria Callas
On the way home from Burano we might buy ice cream from Da Tita on the Lido
Hana-Mila has stracciatella and I always mix the two.”
