Romain Grégoire second and Paul Lapeira third in Lissone
This win marks his sixth triumph in just a month and a half
Hirschi initiated the group of four that ultimately fought for victory in the Italian one-day race
He was joined by Romain Grégoire (Groupama-FDJ)
and Alex Aranburu (Movistar) off the front of the 166.7km race
The quartet built a lead of almost one minute to chasers but the gap was reduced to a slim 15 seconds with five kilometres to go
from 300 metres to the line but he was not able to last the distance
with Grégoire and Hirschi overtaking him
Grégoire finished second and Lapeira settled for third
it’s always difficult to get a good collaboration as everyone is playing for the podium spots
I knew Aranburu was probably the fastest but I think maybe his legs were heaviest
He attacked but we spoke behind and worked to bring him back which was good. It was a long final with a slight headwind and we nearly got swallowed up by the group behind
but thankfully I could hang on for another win,” Hirshi stated in a team release
the 2024 route with close to 3,000 metres of climbing was shortened by almost 30km but still included the finishing circuits which included the climbs of Sirtori
That loop would be completed four times before the riders hit the mainly false flat
Filippo Conca (Q36.5) launched the first attack of the day and was soon joined by a group of riders including Guillaume Martin (Cofidis) off the front with just under 60 kilometres to go
first leading the catch of the front group
Grégoire made a dig but the group stayed together without anyone managing to break away
while the chase group behind was getting organized.
Aranburu attacked with four kilometres to go but would be reeled in a kilometre and a half later

The Lissone Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC) opens MOCKUPAINT
a solo exhibition by Oscar Giaconia (Milan
MOCKUPAINT is a new project celebrating the Milanese artist’s long career and his ongoing exploration of the expressive possibilities of painting
who has always grappled with complex themes such as artifice
and the tension between reality and fiction
presents works that transform painting into a window to artificial universes. The title of the exhibition
is a fusion of the term “mock-up” - meaning a realistic model or representation - and “paint,” meaning painting
Through the mingling of simulated and pictorial reality
Giaconia constructs a visual journey that investigates the liminal zones between the real and the fictional
engaging the visitor in an immersive experience that challenges the boundaries of perception
MOCKUPAINT is an exhibition that is structured in intentionally heterogeneous and seemingly independent exhibition spaces designed to convey a sense of disorientation and wonder
Visitors will find themselves immersed in environments that seem to recreate abandoned film sets or construction site sets
made from raw materials and manipulated according to an aesthetic that recalls both the industrial and restoration worlds
the artist stages images and situations that evoke his reflections on themes such as metamorphosis and artifice
Among the most significant works in the exhibition is the new series NEMAT PUPPET FROG (2024)
where tropicalized iron frames designed by architect Matteo Ghidoni frame Giaconia’s paintings
exploring the relationship between the natural and the artificial
making clear the influence of artificial synthesis in his artistic practice
Giaconia is inspired by the words of biologist D’Arcy Wentworth Thompson
for whom “all things are what they are because they have become that way,” alluding to the natural and artificial evolution of forms
Giaconia brings to the stage some of his most celebrated installations
created throughout his career and then reworked through painting
a monumental sculpture that simulates an unusual taxidermy: a huge sewer pipe
an element at once grotesque and fascinating
drawing attention to themes such as urban decay and the cycle of artificial life
Another significant installation is the video Sexual Clumsiness (2019)
a 16mm short film documenting the behind-the-scenes of a prosthetic makeup session
This technical and visual choice allows Giaconia to delve into the dynamics of the artificial body and its construction process
a theme that reflects her interest in created and recreated identities
The video and sculptures are accompanied by a wide selection of paintings from different periods
isolation and the body as a territory of conflict and contamination
The exhibition was designed in collaboration with architect Maria Marzia Minelli and takes the form of an open construction site
where the concept of exhumation and excavation is central
the construction site is not only a place of construction
but also of decomposition and reconstruction of images and identity
is manipulated to create a visual narrative between the warlike and the surgical
contribute to an atmosphere that becomes increasingly evocative and surreal
The entire exhibition space is permeated by the sound installation Kanthèlios
a composition specially created by Steve Piccolo
an artist and musician with whom Giaconia has long collaborated
The sound track is conceived as a “sung construction site,” a kind of soundscape that transforms the museum into an environment under constant construction
amplifying the idea of a reality in constant metamorphosis and underscoring the scenographic effect of the installation
a bilingual catalog will be published edited by Claudia Santeroni
studio manager of OG STUDIO and exhibition manager of the exhibition
includes critical texts by Stefano Raimondi

is known for his investigation into the transformative potential of painting and for his interdisciplinary approach that embraces various languages and materials
often characterized by a fusion of pictorial and installation elements
explore concepts such as the “monster,” the “parasite,” and the “stand-in,” key words in his practice that aim to transform the pictorial medium into a form of symbolic autopsy of reality
the National Museum of Natural History in Malta and BACO Arte Contemporanea in Bergamo
Through the use of synthetic and in-organic materials
the artist develops an aesthetic strongly influenced by science fiction and post-industrial culture
creating works that sit on the border between object and organism

The sheer joy on the faces of some who hadn’t seen teammates for decades was unfathomable
Others were thrilled to join the reunion that brought former Guyana Women's Field Hockey players together in Toronto over the holiday weekend at the start of August
The organizing committee comprised Hazel Khan (Sheriff)
Roxanne Hinds (Hill) and Marilyn Thijs-Farnum
the United States and England participated in the fun-filled event

Sally Burrowes and Nancy Dietrich travelled from three countries to be part of the festivities
but I am having difficulty putting them together,” said de Cambra-McLeod who played centre and inside forward for Georgetown Football Club (GFC) and Guyana which she represented from 1970 to 1974 before moving to Barbados 50 years ago at age 21
“It was very exciting and emotional for me.”

Burrowes played for British Guiana in 1958
1960 and 1961 before migrating to England in 1962 where she is based
“To represent the colony back in those days was very fulfilling,” said the octogenarian who umpired in England and coached in Australia
“You were held in high esteem once you were chosen to play for British Guiana.”
“Scoring my first goal in Guyana while playing inside left against Trinidad & Tobago,” said the avid golfer who is celebrating 60 years of marriage this year to Arthur Burrowes
“It was quite a moment doing that on home soil in front of the local crowd.”
Mexico-based Dietrich turned out for GFC and wore the Guyana colours in the regional series in Jamaica in 1970
“That was a great experience even though we lost,” she said
“My favourite memory was riding the same bus with the Trinidad team who sang ‘Trinidad
The Trinis were united as a team and a force to be reckoned with.”

I am so happy I made the trip from New York.”
Regina Cheong (Lissone) represented a Guyana Sports Club team against a touring United States field hockey contingent in 1969
Her introduction to top-level competition at a tender age was not surprising as she comes from a hockey family and has been playing the sport since age five
and brother Patrick ‘Bully’ Lissone played the game and were Rovers Hockey Club coaches
“Patrick was the one that pushed me even though Clive was the accomplished coach,” the centre forward and youngest of six siblings recalled

Lissone then allegedly grabbed a fire extinguisher banged it against the door and sprayed it into the victim's shoes which were left outside the door
Police say the victim had a busted lip and redness on his ear from the attack
Lissone also spit on officers repeatedly as they were arresting him
Lissone is also facing burglary charges from a separate incident in Gresham back on November 11
he entered an open garage and stole a stereo
The homeowner confronted Lissone who began threatening the victim who then used a broom to defend himself
Lissone dropped the stereo and ran off and was later arrested by police
Lissone has 9 different convictions dating back to 1992
He has a hearing Tuesday to determine his competency to stand trial
with a long merit list after finishing his architecture studies in Helsinki
which produced a series of acknowledged architectural installations around the world during the next five years until 2003
These works combine architecture with critical thinking of society
all within a cross-over art field using space
materials and the human body as tools of expression
Rintala had his first wider recognition in 1999 with the project Landscape
where three abandoned wooden barns were raised 10 meters high
Sixty Minute Man was realized; A ship sailed to Arsenal with a garden inside
The park was planted on sixty minutes of human waste from the city of Venice
becoming together with the old boat a three-dimensional collage
Rintala started a new architecture office with Icelandic architect Dagur Eggertsson
An important part of Rintala’s work is teaching and lecturing in various art and architecture universities
Teaching usually takes place in such workshops where the students often are challenged to participate in the shaping of the human environment in a realistic 1:1 situation.
Dagur Eggertsson was born in 1965.He is an architect with a professional background from a number of the most prominent offices in Oslo
After his professional degree from the Oslo School of Architecture in 1992
he started his collaboration with architect Vibeke Jenssen
In 1996 he finished a post-professional master’s degree at the Helsinki University of Technology
where he started experimentation with building full scale architectonic objects
under the supervision of Professor Juhani Pallasmaa
Eggertsson has taught architecture in Norway
He is currently a project examinator at the Oslo School of Architecture
Eggertsson started collaboration with architect Sami Rintala
which resulted in establishment of the office Rintala Eggertsson Architects

a moment in time encapsulated the contrasting period of his life
“What are you doing in Italy?” Cupps heard someone ask
who recognized Cupps among the crowd of tourists
Cupps explained he was sightseeing with family and teammates before competing in the Junior International Tournament in Lissone
This tournament would mark the last time he played for his father
The two recently wrapped up their final season together at Centerville High School
where they were 2021 Division I state champions
state runners-up in 2022 and reached the state semifinals in 2023
Cupps will graduate as the program’s all-time leader in wins (95)
steals (199) and career free throw percentage (83.3)
Cupps will head three hours west from his hometown of Centerville
to play for coach Mike Woodson and the Indiana Hoosiers
The moment in Florence showed that while a defining era of his life was about to end
new and exciting ventures loomed for the budding point guard
“It's cool when they recognize me and stop and say what's up to me
It just speaks to how much basketball means to them and how involved the community is with IU basketball
so I'm looking forward to playing for them and allowing them to cheer for us."
He and his good friend and teammate Reed Sheppard
a McDonald’s All-American committed to Kentucky
which Cupps said enhanced the trip by experiencing Italian culture
which featured some of the top players in the state and his father
Team Ohio started the tournament on April 6 with a dominant 120-54 win over AP Galvi Lissone
Cupps scored 16 points on 7-for-14 shooting
He said the style of play was definitely different from the United States
Cupps thought the biggest adjustment was how the game was officiated
saying the referees called more hand-checks and didn’t allow contact at the rim
the lanes were wider with more lenient rules on lane violations and there was no goaltending violation
Cupps said it didn’t take long for him to adjust
Team Ohio advanced to play on April 7 against Bayern Monaco
a German team with players from various youth national teams
Team Ohio took care of business with a 102-74 win
as Cupps scored 16 points on 7-for-14 shooting
Cupps and Team Ohio resumed play on April 9 against KK Rijeka
Team Ohio put up impressive numbers in the 117-84 win
Along with five other players at 15 points or more
Cupps scored 17 points on 7-for-12 shooting
Cupps felt these games helped him develop as a player
especially because of the level of unknown in a new environment
“Then to kind of just go into a place where I didn't really know what was going to happen
Some of the guys on the other teams were contracted pros
so just playing against that high level of competition was good
Having to kind of figure it out on the fly was good for me
Team Ohio had its closest game of the tournament at that point
but still managed a 113-99 win over College Borgomanero
Cupps had his highest-scoring game of the tournament
Team Ohio advanced to the championship of the Junior International Tournament in Lissone
As Cupps stood on the court before the championship game
and I think the national anthem was when I was like
I'm in Italy right now playing with other guys from the United States playing against some pros from Italy.’ It was pretty cool."
it became clear that Team Ohio was in for a challenge
UEB Cividale took a five-point lead into the fourth quarter
and Team Ohio was in the midst of its worst shooting game of the tournament
With Team Ohio going 3-for-35 from 3-point range
his long-time friend and AAU teammate Sheppard started to take over in the fourth quarter
sinking four three pointers and going perfect at the free throw line
continuing his run of taking care of the ball as the team’s point guard
Across five games and nearly 150 minutes of action
Cupps finished the tournament with zero turnovers
And by the time the final buzzer sounded in Lissone
Team Ohio was crowned champions with an 83-75 win
who had a 95-18 record at Centerville High School
went out as a winner in his final game playing for his father
alongside Sheppard who was named tournament MVP
"I definitely thought about how it was the last time my dad would be coaching me and that I would be playing with Reed,” Cupps said
“So that made it more special being with them for these last – my dad my whole life and Reed these last couple years – just to kind of go out on that high note in a place we'd never been to before and somewhere that basketball has taken all of us
and aside from playing in the OHSBCA North-South All-Star game on April 28th
Cupps feels he’s grown in many ways throughout his senior year
but he knows there’s always more to work on
"I would just say my awareness for the game [has improved],” Cupps said
“If we haven't scored something in the last couple possessions
just kind of slowing down and getting us a really good shot
I would say a lot of my leadership has grown a lot
and I've been able to make decisions and get to my spots and knock in shots.”
Cupps wants to improve his ability to finish both ways at the rim over taller defenders
read ball screens and extend his 3-point shooting range
He said Indiana assistant coach Brian Walsh wants him to add about five pounds over the next few months
with a goal of weighing 175 pounds when he moves to Bloomington on June 1
"I'm most excited about just having different coaches tell me what I need to improve on,” Cupps said
“And just kind of hearing a different point of view and just being able to get better myself
I would say also just coming in [to Indiana] and competing and getting to know new guys
I've been with the same guys for some time at Centerville
so I would just say coming in and getting better with them and just trying to compete and lead."
Cupps has been in contact with the new transfers, and he's excited for what Ware and Sparks can bring to the team.
“Kel'el being able to protect the rim and be a force inside,” Cupps said. “And he can also stretch it and knock down threes. He provides a good lob threat off of ball screens and actions and stuff like that."
"Sparks, I think he's going to be really good on the boards and finishing around the rim," Cupps said. "I think he's just a big body that can really battle in the post. I think that's two areas that will really help us, so I'm looking forward to getting to meet them in person and getting to work with them."
Cupps said he's tried not to pay too much attention to all the movement throughout college basketball this offseason. He's got to this point because of hard work and dedication, and that will never stop.
“I'm not scared of anybody taking my spot or anything like that,” Cupps said. “I'm just going to go in and do what I do and play and compete as hard as I can."

The fact that it represents the 30th edition already puts it in history Jit 2024
scheduled at Lissone (MB) from 28 March to 1 April with many young talents starring on the parquet during 19 of Europe and overseas
But to be honest every single one Junior International Tournament
organized byApl Lissone since 1993 and interrupted only in the two-year period 2020-2021 due to Covid
it represents an event to remember: for the atmosphere that every time gives an Easter dedicated to young international basketball and for the many champions who have offered a preview of their talent in the Brianza area
Currently “the road to Olympus” of the tournament has 109 names that you can find it here and among which (in strict alphabetical order and just to name a few of the most important) are those of Awudu Abass
Gigi Date and Daniel Gallinari for Italian basketball
while the list of international stars includes
the Macedonian center Pero Antic (two seasons with the Atlanta Hawks and 3 Euroleague wins with Olympiacos and Fenerbahce)
the ex-NBA Chris Quinn and current Los Angeles Lakers center forward Jaxson Hayes
and it is another fascinating element of the Jit Città di Lissone
perhaps including some of the names present in this year's roster in the near future..
with the tournament formula which involves following two semi-final groups with the best 8 and closing the final on Easter Monday
Four Italians present: in addition to the hosts ofApl Galvi Lissone
There are five European clubs: the Germans of Bayern Munich
the Czechs ofUSK Prague and the Swedes of BK Rig Mark
Canadians from overseas have arrived in Brianza Toronto United and the Americans of Step Higher Academy and Team Ohio
historical protagonist of the event (it seems
that at the end of the nineties a very young man LeBron James was to arrive in Lissone with this selection
but it was not possible due to the high insurance costs)

The Casa del Fascio (the local seat of the National Fascist Party) is a building created as the result of a competition organised by the municipality of Lissone during the second half of the 1930s
the winners of which were Giuseppe Terragni and Antonio Carminati
Compared to the usual words in the architectural language of Terragni who
could not dedicate himself entirely to the building
leaving the execution to a not-always-involved Carminati
this architecture presents several surprising aspects
the walls able to fold like a book or to slide had always been part of the language of the master from Meda
attesting to a substantial lack of interest for a Teutonic modernism based on the New Objectivity
the imperfect side that made an appearance again in this almost apocryphal work
perhaps because of the lacustrine Mediterranean embodied in Larian architecture or because of the passion I was able to see for an intensely figurative version of the modern where the master seems to exclude abstraction
We walk around this building with Simona Ottieri and Dirk Cherchi
the sensitive person responsible for the restoration of the façades that we are carrying out on behalf of the municipality of Lissone and we are left astonished in the face of so many signs of a complete work that was altered
we rifle through the archives until we decide to integrate by freezing everything that moved
We act as if we’re in the presence of a fossil cast
We are not interested in a philological restoration: the Modern does not warrant it
We prefer an action that brings the building closer to its believable condition
giving plastic force and predominant expressive power to the shape and colours that
we have reconstructed by chasing down the face of a possible âge d’or

Recharge in a Restored Spanish Farmhouse in Menorca
This 4,500-square-foot yoga studio occupies the second floor of a conventional concrete-and-steel urban building. Treating the confines of the structure as a vessel to be explored, Enter Projects Asia founder Patrick Keane introduced a series of rattan tubes that snake through the interior
occasionally ballooning overhead like clouds
which he describes as “a material guide to the space,” seems alive
they connect the various parts of the studio like a system of arteries; at night
channeling energy from one end of the facility to the other
an application for special effects in movies
to generate possible forms and configurations
Though the design emerged through high-tech digital manipulations
the materials come from Thai craft traditions
The curved walls and ceiling of the large studios
are clad in shiplap-style marine-teak paneling from a local boatbuilder
while all the natural rattan elements were handmade by a small Bangkok workshop

Sheppard, one of five high-profile signees in Kentucky’s top-ranked recruiting class for 2023, spent the weekend competing in the event out in Lissone. There, he led Team Ohio to a 5-0 overall record while leading the way in scoring.
The Under-19 international event featured five days of competition from April 6-10 with 12 teams across eight countries and 135 athletes competing for the title, Team Ohio joining host Galvi Lissone, Toronto United, KK Rijeka, USK Prague, Bayern Munich, MENA Dubai, KK Borac, Pallacanestro Forli, College Borgomanero, Aurora Desio and UEB Cividale. Dating back to 1993, it was the 29th edition of the competition that brings some of the world’s best talent to the city of Lissone.
Sheppard joined Indiana signee Gabe Cupps — the future Wildcat’s grassroots teammate with Midwest Basketball Club on the adidas 3SSB circuit — along with the likes of Matt Butler, Dominique Aekins, Sam Whitaker, Miles Heide, Colin White and Landon Vanderwarker. Cupps’ father, Brook Cupps (also the coach of Midwest Basketball Club) coached the team in Italy.

SHELBY — Alex Bruskotter is thankful he has Tommy Orsi's number saved in his phone
an Italian foreign exchange student who was a member of the Shelby boys basketball team last year
is really going to come in handy for the 6-foot-8 guard
Bruskotter was invited to play on Team Ohio for a tournament in Milan
Bruskotter doesn't know a lick of Italian so Orsi may have to help him learn a few words while he is on the plane
AN AMAZING HONOR: A basketball story: Late Ethan DeLaney lived a beautiful basketball life
"I am going to have to call him up," Bruskotter said with a laugh
Bruskotter is scheduled to fly out of the United States and arrive in Rome on Tuesday where he will spend the day exploring the ancient city before departing for Lissone
He will spend eight days in Italy residing with a host family while his parents grab a hotel room
"We are going to some different places and using a bunch of train rides which is going to be pretty cool," Bruskotter said
"We are playing a bunch of teams from all over the country so it is going to be an experience I will never forget."
The agenda calls for games to be played on Thursday-Monday before arriving back home on Tuesday
Lake Como and multiple other tourist attractions
"I just want to see all of the ancient building and famous places that we are scheduled to visit," Bruskotter said
"We study these things in history class and I am going to actually see it with my own two eyes so that is going to be incredible
To be around a different culture and different people will be an experience of a lifetime."
Ohio High School Basketball Hall of Fame coach Gregg Collins will be an assistant coach to Jeff Deyo along with general manager Bobby Kortsen and it was Collins who put Bruskotter's name in the pool after the team had a late dropout
this is an outstanding opportunity for Alex," Collins said
"We fly into Rome and tour the city before we bus up to northern Milan for the tournament
two of the key players we had are projected NBA lottery picks and stars on some major Division I teams
Bruskotter will play with Duquesne commit Dominic Aekins
Ohio University commit Jesse Burris and University of South Carolina commit Trent Noah among others
"Playing a different style of basketball with completely different rules will be interesting," Bruskotter said
"My teammates are some of the best players in the country so it will be awesome to be with them."
The Wright State University commit and finalist for the Mr
Basketball award will find himself playing by international rules which includes a shot clock and the college 3-point line
"To meet kids from other countries is always a big opportunity," Collins said
The rest of the world at all levels uses one so he will get a chance to play with a 24-second shot clock and the international 3-point line that he is going to play with next year at Wright State
He better be ready to not get many calls because officials call the game differently over there and it will be physical
It is going to be a great time and experience
Bruskotter is the Division II Player of the Year
first team All-District 6 and the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference player of the year this season as he flirted with averaging a triple double with points
He led the Whippets to their first regional championship and state tournament berth
he tied the Division II state semifinal record for the most points in a game with Torrey Patton of Trotwood-Madison against Akron St
2 scorer in Shelby boys basketball history with history with 1,689 points
just 99 points behind five-time NBA champion Larry Siegfried for the top spot on the list
He helped Shelby post the most wins (25) in a single season in program history
It is no wonder why he is the first player from North Central Ohio to be invited to play
"I have been told I was the first person in this area to be chosen to play and it has been going on for 23 years," Bruskotter said
"I heard about it last year when Gabe Cupps
I had no idea what it was but when I saw that
I have never been to another continent before so that is going to be awesome."
the timing of the trip means he is going to miss the 45th News Journal All-Star Classic on Friday
a game he spent his childhood attending and striving to play in
"I have gone to those games since I was six and always wanted to play in one so it is kind of bittersweet," Bruskotter said
"But this is an opportunity I couldn't pass up."

1: 13 the thirteen chairs is an exhibit about the famous masterpiece The Last Supper
Many other artists have interpreted the famous scene during history
and this time 13 designers were called to look beyond the scene and imagine the thirteen -never seen before- seats of Jesus and the Apostles
Each designer gave his own interpretation of the symbolic connection between one of the Saints and his chair
the seat relative to the apostle Bartholomew by CTRLZAK
Twelve designers have been selected to represent the new Italian generation
While in the middle of the scene we’ve chosen to set a very charismatic and important personality of the design history: Alessandro Guerriero
who’ll be celebrated for his amazing and prolific 70 years
The exhibit preview took place during the Milan Design Week in April with sketches and ideas
During the past months all those materials took shapes inside the craftsman workshops in Lissone
The 13 chairs will thus be revealed in October
together with contributions of 13 photographers and 13 critics
who offered their interpretations of each project
