Magenta Mobility has begun enrolling its delivery executives under the Government of India’s e‑Shram portal
solidifying its reputation as an employer that places employee welfare at the core of its operations
Launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment
e‑Shram is a centralised database designed to extend social security and welfare benefits to informal and gig economy workers
By integrating more than 2,700 delivery executives into this national registry
Magenta Mobility is offering its frontline workforce essential protections—ranging from health coverage and life insurance to disability and accident benefits—that are typically reserved for formal sector employees
From the perspective of Magenta’s gig riders
the e‑Shram registration represents more than a bureaucratic formality; it provides formal recognition and a tangible safety net
“Having my name on the e‑Shram portal gives me peace of mind,” says Rahul Sharma
“Now I know that if anything happens on the job
Magenta deployed dedicated field teams to assist executives with documentation
reflecting the company’s pledge to remove administrative friction
“Our goal was zero drop-offs—every delivery executive must benefit
digital literacy sessions and weekend camps to make registration effortless.”
This initiative builds on Magenta’s broader employee-centric agenda
which includes continuous training on safety protocols
“We view our delivery executives as full-fledged team members,” said Maxson Lewis
we’re not just ticking a compliance box—we’re affirming their dignity
Industry observers note that Magenta’s move could set a new benchmark
“In a sector marked by high churn and minimal social safeguards
Magenta is leading by example,” comments labour economist Dr
“This approach may well become a template for other gig-based businesses.”
As India’s gig workforce continues to expand
Magenta Mobility’s e‑Shram integration demonstrates how employee-focused policies can strengthen company culture
reduce turnover and enhance brand reputation—ultimately driving both social impact and business resilience

Metrics details
red auroras are typically observed from low-latitude countries such as Japan
The color arises from a specific emission line of oxygen atoms at high altitudes
magenta auroras were observed above Japan instead of the typical red
we demonstrate that the magenta hue is created by a mixture of red (O) and a blue (N2+) aurora at extremely high altitudes
The blue color originates from the N2+ first negative emission band caused by both resonant scattering of the upwelling molecular ions and heavy particle precipitation during the storm
This study is primarily driven by observations from citizen scientists
and confirmed and quantified with observations from spacecraft and modeling techniques
and the preheating of the atmosphere all contribute to the occurrence of magenta aurora
This study showcases the value and richness of citizen science
and we anticipate that such approaches will become increasingly important in the future
which was confined to the northernmost parts of Japan
with an order of 10’s of citizen observations
100’s of citizen observations were made across the full length of Japan (Method)
this is the largest number of auroral sightings above Japan during a single event
and citizen science observations are illustrated in Extended Data Figure 1
The distribution of 179 auroral observations over Japan during the May 11, 2024 super storm as a function of geolocation and elevation angle. This plot and map was generated with Natural Earth and Cartopy v0.23 (https://scitools.org.uk/cartopy/docs/latest/)
Latitude and altitude estimation using particle Markov chain Monte Carlo method
Estimated geographic latitude from the elevation angle data points of citizen scientists
This is supported by some of the citizen photos which show dazzling blue rays rising from the magenta body
PTRIP simulation results of red and blue auroras
The red line (630.0 nm) and blue lines (391.4 nm and 427.8 nm) auroral emission profiles with the background atmosphere calculated by the DTM for the condition on May 11th and with electron and H-ENA fluxes obtained by the TED and MEPED instruments
The solid blue lines show the intensities calculated for electron precipitation only
Paths 1–6 correspond to the passage of MetOp-1 at 10:37 UT
The sky blue denotes the resonance scattering intensity of N2+ first negative bands
The sky blue curve is the N2+ resonant scattering intensity as calculated from the GITM’s active-time simulation result
while the dotted lines are the N2+ resonant scattering intensities for the fixed N2+ ion densities of 10
Comparison of auroral emission profiles between the two background atmospheres on May 9th and 11th with the same incident electron and H-ENA fluxes during Path 3
The N2+ emission from the heavy particles can only contribute at relatively low altitudes
the heavy-particles that drive the blue hue
contribute less than the low-energy (< 1 keV) precipitating electrons (Extended Data Figure 5)
Note that the atmospheric extinction is most effective for blue emissions especially at low elevation angle
at low altitude in this in this case of geometry
This means that the emission intensities of blue colors can be stronger than observed especially at low altitude
which is consistent with our simulation results
we can conclude that the relative contributions of the particle impact against to the resonant scattering is significantly small for high altitudes
We therefore conclude that preheating of the middle latitude atmosphere
was likely another important contributor to the magenta body
in addition to the season and high solar activity
by reiterating the importance of using citizen scientists in auroral investigations
A great majority of people now own camera-phones that have a greater sensitivity than the naked eye and they share their images in real-time via social media
Paired with the continuous advance of AI in automatically interpreting questionnaires
we expect the role of the public to only increase in any scientific investigations
We would also like to emphasize that this study was primarily conducted in Japanese and that language across citizen activities is less of a barrier to novel science
Ryuho Kataoka first asked the X (formerly Twitter) community to attempt to observe the aurora and to tag it with a specially created hashtag
The second phase involved asking the X community to fill out a questionnaire which contained the following fields: 1) email; 2) observation location (city
longitude); 3) observation time; 4) elevation angle; 5) evidence of photo
(generally a link to your X account); 6) your name; 7) any additional comments
There was a total of 775 submissions to the questionnaire
Elevation angles were calculated by cross checking the auroral height with star constellations (e.g
We also received submissions from outside of Japan
We hope to expand such a study to a global scale in future works
we consider the following state transition model:
where λk and ak denote the latitude and altitude of the emission source at a time step k
The variations of λk and ak are represented by vλ,k and va,k
Assuming that the aurora is uniform in longitude and that the Earth is a true sphere
the elevation angle yki observed at a latitude Λi is obtained as
and εki are assumed to obey independent normal distributions whose mean is zero
The variances of the three variables were treated as hyperparameters in the analysis
We also assumed a column integration width of 300 km
Although the simulation run of Global Ionosphere Thermosphere Model (GITM) for the May 11 storm has not been ready in CCMC
we consulted the altitude profile of the N2+ ion density from the accumulated data of CCMC/GITM runs in the recovery phase of the June 23 storm
The GITM is a 3D physics-based model that explicitly solves for 7 neutral and 7 ion species
GITM is on an altitude grid (instead of a pressure grid like most thermosphere/ionosphere models)
We utilized version 21.11 with resolution of 2° latitude and 4° longitude
We assumed the layer thickness of 300 km (~ 3 deg
as suggested from satellite observations) and the observation perpendicular to the emission layer
Model inputs to the PTRIP are atmospheric density profiles and incident fluxes of precipitating particles
MEPED 0 deg ions and TED 0 deg electrons are used for the incident fluxes of H-ENAs and electrons
and O used for the background atmosphere are obtained from the Drag Temperature Model (DTM)
The DTM is a semi-empirical model that utilizes the F10.7 index and the Kp index to calculate the neutral temperatures and densities from the surface to 1000 km
It takes advantage of the CHAMP and GRACE missions to constrain the model-inferred densities
The version used in this study is DTM 2020

Other new investors include Viking Global Investors and RA Capital Management
Funding will support Magenta's clinical programs in support of FDA approval for Elevate
KADIMA, Israel, July 23, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Magenta Medical
has closed a $105M financing round led by global healthcare investment firm Novo Holdings
New investors Viking Global Investors and RA Capital Management
The financing will be used to advance the company's U.S
clinical programs in multiple mechanical circulatory support (MCS) indications and to secure the first FDA approval for the Elevate™ System in patients undergoing high-risk percutaneous coronary interventions (HR-PCI)
"Magenta's technology stands at the forefront of innovation in the MCS field and has the potential to significantly improve outcomes in patients with severe cardiovascular conditions," said Eric Snyder
"We look forward to supporting Magenta's team in bringing better care to even more patients in need of mechanical circulatory support."
"Magenta is thrilled to add these exceptional MedTech investors to its mission of disrupting the MCS space
we are fortunate to have brought together a world-class group of investors that has both the resources and expertise to shepherd Magenta through regulatory approvals and commercial growth."
MCS is one of the fastest growing markets in interventional cardiology
It encompasses devices designed to mechanically unload the failing heart and augment cardiac output in the setting of dangerously low blood pressure
providing a bridge to recovery over a period of hours to days
The widely recognized unmet clinical needs in MCS revolve around the ability to provide full cardiac support with a single device and a truly percutaneous and minimally-invasive placement procedure
while overcoming the significant limitations of existing temporary MCS devices
Magenta's Elevate™ System was granted Breakthrough Device Designation by the U.S
FDA for two clinical indications: high-risk percutaneous coronary intervention (HR-PCI) and cardiogenic shock (CS)
Early Feasibility Study with the HR-PCI indication in 2023
The results were presented at the 2023 Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) conference in San Francisco by Dr
Perwaiz Meraj of North Shore University Hospital
Magenta is now preparing to launch a pivotal study in the U.S
Magenta's proprietary technology miniaturizes a powerful percutaneous Left Ventricular Assist Device to fit into a 9 Fr delivery system
the smallest crimping profile of any such device
The Elevate™ pump is first folded and then inserted percutaneously through a small puncture in the groin to accommodate a commercially available 10 Fr introducer sheath
The pump is delivered into the heart fully sheathed
Employing standard catheterization techniques and equipment for placement provides important advantages in terms of ease-of-use
and the flow through the pump is adjusted based on the clinical circumstances of the patient
up to the entire cardiac output of an adult (> 5 L/min of mean flow at physiological blood pressures)
This allows the heart to rest and the patient to recover
Elevate™ is the most powerful known percutaneous pump
comparing favorably even with surgically placed catheter pumps that have more than twice Magenta's insertion profile
"Magenta's technology will potentially enable physicians to rely on a single device to treat the full spectrum of MCS indications and is expected to eliminate the need to escalate therapy to a different device and subject patients to unnecessary and invasive replacement procedures."

Wavelength publisher CMYK doubles down on card games with MagentaCard games deserve a renaissance of their own
by Charlie Hall
Polygon received an exclusive early preview of the first four games in the series last month
and recently sat down with the team at CMYK to learn more about the project
Magenta is a fledgling series of small-box games curated by CMYK co-founder James Nathan Spencer with creative direction by co-founder Alex Hague
The pair tells Polygon that the inspiration comes from a shared love of card games in all their forms
Magenta is also an attempt to elevate traditional card games back into the mainstream of the hobby
which has for a long time seen card games dismissively relegated to the role of so-called “filler games.”
“There’s this kind of romantic idea of the kind of card game night that maybe your parents had
or more likely your grandparents had,” Hague said on a recent video call
And so it’s kind of this weird mirror image of maybe what’s happened in the board game space
“We really had to think a lot about What does a CMYK version of a card game line look like
The first four games in the Magenta line are numbered
with the boxes designed to sit on the shelf in order
a thrilling trick-taking game in the style of Hearts or Spades
a team-based Rummy-style card game by Johannes Schmidauer-König; Figment
a novel card game based on optical illusions by Wolfgang Warsch; and Fruit Fight
a push-your-luck style game from the prolific Reiner Knizia
All feature the same magenta-colored slipcase
The Magenta line is intended to be a resource for players
a way to supplement their at-home collections with excellent card games to go alongside beloved board games
CMYK is carefully labeling these card games with the kind of information that board game players need when they’re looking for new experiences
Each box will include traditional information like the number of players and the length of time needed to play
But it will also have something new: text to call out the mood that the game is looking to evoke
Next1/4The small boxes open revealing ready-to-play components
Daniel Forero/CMYK“The idea struck us that what you really want when you see those things [like number of players and length of playtime] on the back is [the answer to a question]: What kind of time am I going to have playing this game?,” said Hague
that’s kind of one of [the] main things that I want to know if I’ve never played the game before
What is the feel of it going to be and does that match the people that I’m playing the game with?”
Perhaps the biggest shared feature between all four games is the set of easy-to-read
these slim pamphlets made them terrifically simple to learn and teach on the fly — even with young or inexperienced players at the table
Next1/4Figment tasks players with collectively determining what percentage of a given color is shown on each card revealed in sequence
Photo: Daniel Forero/CMYK“Making manuals is absolutely one of CMYK and Alex’s superpowers,” said Magenta line curator James Nathan Spencer
Hague said that the company has been “through the trenches” of manual design
which required multiple international translations
Fans of video tutorials are in luck as well
as the developers tell Polygon that Shut Up and Sit Down co-founder Quentin “Quinns” Smith has been hired on to perform the Magenta line’s tutorial videos
The first four games in the Magenta line will go up for sale soon on CMYK’s website for $25 each
and it’s the company’s hope that they’ll also be available at game shops and larger retailers
including new games designed in-house and more clever
“We kind of want Magenta to almost feel like the Criterion Collection of card games,” said Hague
“We really do want to have several dozen games in this line
and to have them all feel like they are at a level where they feel like absolute classics of the card game form.”
The Magenta line was previewed using pre-release retail products provided by CMYK. Vox Media has affiliate partnerships. according to a statement issued by the company
July 29, 2024 — Magenta Medical
Israel-based company in a written statement detailing the news
The financing will be used to advance the company’s U.S
clinical programs in multiple mechanical circulatory support (MCS) indications and to secure the first FDA approval for the Elevate System in patients undergoing high-risk percutaneous coronary interventions (HR-PCI)
“Magenta's technology stands at the forefront of innovation in the MCS field and has the potential to significantly improve outcomes in patients with severe cardiovascular conditions,” said Eric Snyder
“We look forward to supporting Magenta’s team in bringing better care to even more patients in need of mechanical circulatory support."
Magenta Medical CEO, Dr. David Israeli
we are fortunate to have brought together a world-class group of investors that has both the resources and expertise to shepherd Magenta through regulatory approvals and commercial growth." Israeli added
“Magenta’s technology will potentially enable physicians to rely on a single device to treat the full spectrum of MCS indications and is expected to eliminate the need to escalate therapy to a different device and subject patients to unnecessary and invasive replacement procedures.”
Magenta's Elevate System was granted Breakthrough Device Designation by the U.S
Magenta completed a U.S. Early Feasibility Study with the HR-PCI indication in 2023. The results were presented at the 2023 Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) conference in San Francisco by Dr. Perwaiz Meraj of North Shore University Hospital
The company reports that Magenta's proprietary technology miniaturizes a powerful percutaneous Left Ventricular Assist Device to fit into a 9 Fr delivery system
It further notes the following on the technology:
The Elevate pump is first folded and then inserted percutaneously through a small puncture in the groin to accommodate a commercially available 10 Fr introducer sheath
Elevate is the most powerful known percutaneous pump
Magenta's Elevate percutaneous Left Ventricular Assist Device (pLVAD) is currently in clinical trials to be evaluated for at least two indications: patients undergoing high-risk percutaneous coronary interventions (HR-PCI) and patients with cardiogenic shock

How did you come to join the Denton Affair
My friend brought me to a Rocky Horror show 24 years ago
I joined the Denton Affair that same night
Most people that join the Denton Affair are there while they’re in college
My favorite character to play is Frank-N-Furter
It’s essentially when there’s a movie playing and a cast is acting in front of it in real time
They’re wearing costumes that are identical to the characters on the screen
What should people know that haven’t been to a Rocky show before
The Rocky cast is special—it offers a place for weird kids to find a family
The acceptance of the Denton Affair is what keeps people coming back

Magenta Medical announced today that it closed a $105 million financing round to support Elevate
The latest funding adds to $55 million raised in a financing round last year
Israel-based Magenta plans to use the funds to advance its clinical programs for multiple mechanical circulatory support (MCS) indications
It hopes to secure the first FDA approval for Elevate in patients undergoing high-risk percutaneous coronary interventions (HR-PCI)
the company plans to launch a pivotal study in the U.S
“Magenta is thrilled to add these exceptional MedTech investors to its mission of disrupting the MCS space,” said Magenta CEO Dr
“Together with our existing partners
we are fortunate to have brought together a world-class group of investors that has both the resources and expertise to shepherd Magenta through regulatory approvals and commercial growth.”
Magenta designed its pump as a miniaturized
powerful percutaneous left ventricular assist device (LVAD)
making it the smallest crimping profile of any such device
Elevate first folds and then goes percutaneously through a small puncture in the groin to accommodate a 10 Fr introducer sheath
through the aorta and across the aortic valve
with pump flow adjusted based on the patient’s circumstances
Adjustments can go up to the entire cardiac output of an adult (> 5 L/min of mean flow at physiological blood pressures)
this allows the heart to rest and the patient to recover
which Magenta says makes its pump the most powerful known percutaneous pump
“Magenta’s technology will potentially enable physicians to rely on a single device to treat the full spectrum of MCS indications and is expected to eliminate the need to escalate therapy to a different device and subject patients to unnecessary and invasive replacement procedures,” Israeli added

With his long hair, stacked rings and bracelets, and a wardrobe that suggested comfort over convention, Legere looked less like a CEO and more like a frontman. He swore with impunity, threw up bunny ears behind a reporter on live TV, and called the industry “broken and arrogant.” But beneath the sunglasses and leather jackets was a mind sharp enough to turn an industry laughingstock into a market force
Five years after handing the reins to Mike Sievert, Legere’s legacy is at risk. After a decade branding itself as the “anti-Verizon” and “anti-AT&T,” T-Mobile now finds itself slipping into familiar habits
The Un-carrier is slowly becoming just another carrier
With price hikes looming and policies shifting
The T-Mobile strategy shift became evident after the Sprint merger in 2020
T-Mobile painted the merger as a win for consumers: a promise of lower prices
and a more formidable alternative to Verizon and AT&T
The irony? A decade earlier, regulators saw this danger coming. When AT&T tried to acquire T-Mobile in 2011, the deal was blocked
AT&T controlled nearly a third of the wireless market
Absorbing T-Mobile would have given it close to 50%—a clear monopoly
Yet, when T-Mobile pursued a similar merger with Sprint years later, the same regulators gave it the green light. What changed? If regulators once saw the risks of T-Mobile’s merger with AT&T
why did they fail to see the dangers this time
Companies that start out fighting the establishment eventually become the establishment
Netflix was supposed to be the answer to cable
It’s indistinguishable from a cable provider
once proudly touting the mantra “Don’t be evil,” has become an advertising leviathan
“It just works,” but now nickel-and-dimes customers for everything
which was supposed to be a push for healthy competition
has quietly reshuffled its priorities so subtly that by the time customers realized what was going on
Investors have every reason to adore Mike Sievert. Under his stewardship, T-Mobile has grown into a juggernaut. The company’s fourth-quarter earnings for 2024 were nothing short of fantastic
the company seems to have forgotten who got it there in the first place—its customers
Despite its remarkable performance, T-Mobile wants more. During an all-hands meeting with employees, Sievert hinted at another round of price hikes
he glides around the topic with the precision of a boardroom veteran
His exact words: “You’re going to be hearing about us
getting back to some of the adjustments of legacy pricing that we began last year.”
“Adjustments of legacy pricing” could mean anything
but it’s not hard to read between the lines
The last time T-Mobile raised prices
it did so with a particular stealthiness: not all customers on the same plan were affected
There was no clear explanation for why some saw price hikes while others didn’t
There are three possibilities: Customers who saw price hikes last time will be hit again
customers who dodged the last round will get targeted now
The carrier that once promised transparency
and customer-first policies is now pulling the same shenanigans as its rivals
With each subtle price increase and policy revision
the T-Mobile strategy shift signals a departure from the bold
T-Mobile’s Simple Choice plans were exactly that—simple
It was a strategy to disrupt the wireless industry by getting rid of the things that commonly frustrated customers
and confusing plans were kicked to the curb
It positioned T-Mobile as a customer-first carrier that emphasized transparency and flexibility
Then came Un-contract, a radical idea at that time and a promise: Your bill would never go up
Legere guaranteed it: “As long as you’re a customer
T-Mobile later rebranded Un-contract to Price Lock: same concept
but the policy changed: Instead of guaranteeing that your bill wouldn’t rise
T-Mobile simply offered to cover your last month’s bill if you decided to leave
For a company that once prided itself on keeping its customers, T-Mobile seems surprisingly comfortable letting them leave
The T-Mobile strategy shift extends beyond pricing
The T-Life app comes straight from the modern corporate playbook: automate tasks
We’ve seen this before. Airlines replaced call centers with chatbots. Supermarkets have introduced self-checkout lanes. Once staffed with tellers and loan officers, banks now exist only as apps. Even in Japan, some hotels have gone so far as to replace human receptionists with robots
T-Mobile is applying the same cost-cutting strategy to its operations
If you need more proof that T-Mobile is drifting further from its customer-first roots
T-Mobile wants you to believe that T-Life is a gift to customers
An app that lets you manage your account on your own
No more waiting on hold for a customer service rep
It was supposed to be about customer empowerment
The feedback has been overwhelmingly negative. The app is confusing, unintuitive, and frustrating—especially for older users. Store employees report that customers keep returning
asking the same questions and struggling with the same issues
T-Mobile isn’t just encouraging customers to use the app; it’s also pressuring them
higher-ups are pushing store employees to get as many customers as possible to download and use it
Employees say they’re required to write detailed reports explaining why a customer refuses to use the app
wouldn’t it make more sense to get customer feedback directly
the company is playing an elaborate game of corporate telephone
forcing employees to convey customers’ frustrations rather than listening to them firsthand
The carrier’s shift in strategy is complete: T-Mobile is no longer the underdog clawing for relevance in an industry once dominated by AT&T and Verizon
When it was fighting for a larger slice of the pie
It did what AT&T and Verizon wouldn’t—or couldn’t
But that was before they had a seat at the table
Now, with a sizeable market share and no real threat to its dominance
T-Mobile no longer has to fight for customers
thanks largely to its absorption of Sprint
It no longer breaks industry norms—it follows them
The college dorm startup that once promised a revolution eventually becomes the corporation that sells your data
It has traded its brashness for boardroom polish
The sunglasses and leather jacket are gone
replaced by a suit and a carefully worded earnings report

The Israeli company said it is preparing for pivotal trials in the US as it eyes FDA approval in mechanical circulatory support indications
Magenta Medical – who made waves in the medtech space when it unveiled the world’s smallest heart pump – has raised $105m to support clinical trials in the US evaluating the technology
The financing round, led by Novo Nordisk’s investment arm Novo Holdings, adds to the $55m raised in May 2023
New investors Viking Global Investors and RA Capital Management joined existing investors OrbiMed
Israel-headquartered Magenta has already tested its Elevate technology in a first-in-human study and early feasibility study in patients undergoing high-risk percutaneous coronary interventions
Positive safety and efficacy results were presented at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) conference in San Francisco
The left ventricular assist device (LVAD) system is a catheter-mounted
self-expanding and retrievable pump that helps the left ventricle take blood into the aorta
It is a temporary device indicated for use in high-risk coronary operations or as emergency use in unstable patients with cardiogenic shock
LVADs are part of a wider group of devices known as multiple mechanical circulatory support
those designed to mechanically unload the failing heart and augment cardiac output in the setting of dangerously low blood pressure
Magenta said the latest funding would go towards US clinical programmes in multiple mechanical circulatory indications
“Building on [the early feasibility study]
Magenta is now preparing to launch a pivotal study in the US,” the company stated in a press release
The funding will also be spent on US Food and Drug Administration approval for the device
which has been granted breakthrough device designation in high-risk percutaneous coronary intervention and cardiogenic shock
The global mechanical circulatory support device market was worth $815m in 2023 and is forecast to grow to $1.3bn by 2033. LVADs represent the biggest market segment by far, with Abbott leading the market, according to analysis by GlobalData
Novo Holdings US venture investments partner Eric Snyder said: “The Novo Holdings Venture Investment team has been investing in the med tech space since 2003
Early Feasibility Study in high risk-PCI demonstrating their expandable pump
can safely be placed and can support cardiac output of an adult.”
“The current financing will support further clinical studies and allow Magenta to secure the first US FDA approval
Recent reports indicate that more than 2 million patients could benefit from improved mechanical circulatory support devices so we are excited to see Magenta advance.”

Magenta-colored furniture is a fun and non-committal way to embrace this color
Color-drenching works best when done with a bright and bold color like magenta
Magenta can form a surprisingly relaxing backdrop in a home if you know how to complement it
designers say this "intimidating" shade always pays off
I've never been afraid of experimenting with color when it comes to interior design, but maybe my degree in fine art softened me to stark saturations
that certain colors are more intimidating to incorporate than others
And at the top of that list is one bright and bold berry shade: magenta
One of the reasons it is so hard to work with is that it's not completely obvious what color magenta is
Known for its vibrancy and proximity to hot pink
the shade encompasses a more complex variety of undertones
"It’s a vibrant reddish-purple that can range from playful and daring to deeper
more sophisticated tones that frame a space beautifully and add a strong personality," says Maye Ruiz
founding partner and creative director of MAYE — an interior design and architectural studio based across Mexico and the United States
leaned much more reddish than pink) — I asked color experts and interior designers for their thoughts on the shade and
a New York-based architectural color consultant at Amy Krane Color
But to the eye, magenta can come across as much more intricate and sophisticated. "When I think of magenta, I think of boldness — a color many find intimidating," adds interior designer Maye Ruiz. "It’s also complex; it’s not quite purple
or violet… it exists somewhere in between."
It can also be defined as an energetic color that is warm in nature despite having faint undertones of typically cooler colors like blue and purple
This contrasting mix of bold saturation and moody shadows gives magenta its alluring depth
Shades that fit this category range from lighter to darker variations
but a true middle-ground magenta can be see in the swatch from Little Greene
Magenta in home design is certainly a bold choice that's guaranteed to shake things up
"It brings a lot of personality — it’s impossible to go unnoticed," says Maye
vibrant hue or in a deeper shade leaning towards burgundy
sometimes the best way to dip your feet in is by incorporating accent pieces and décor
it’s best used in small doses," says Amy
"It was the final touch that brought cohesion to the different color palettes
While a moment of magenta here and there is the stylish and safe route, nothing embraces the bold personality of the shade quite like a color-drenched room
However, the key to getting it right is to maintain balance in your interior design
The monochrome décor in the home office shown above is evenly arranged throughout the room
giving the eye a number of soothing places to land
ensuring the magenta feels less overwhelming
"When paired with the right color combination
the color magenta creates a beautiful and unique space."
"I recommend adding it to an accent wall in a space where homeowners want to exude energy for their guests
or half-bath," says Sherwin-Williams' Emily
"I’ve used a magenta shade on a powder room ceiling with patterned wallpaper on four walls which was plum and pink," adds Amy Krane
"Because it was in a windowless room and painted on a plane not receiving any direct light
There is no need to shy away from magenta if you are someone who typically embraces a more minimalist bedroom style — magenta can be quite an enriching accent that is surprisingly calming when paired with earth tones
For example, olive green paint has a warm undertone that brings out the soothing warmth of magenta
Pair this color combination with natural materials
like a rattan headboard or wooden bedside table
and you will have a visually stunning sleep sanctuary
The most important aspect of decorating with magenta is knowing what colors to pair with it
Color expert Amy Krane recommends sticking to colors that will enrich magenta without competing for the spotlight
and olive green are a few ideal colors to get you started
"They help to balance out the boldness of magenta's saturation," she explains
"Since magenta leans into a deeper shade that can easily morph into red tones
any neutral with a green undertone will be your friend."
"It also pairs well with a classic black and white color combination
providing that instant pop of visual interest," adds Emily
Magenta is a color that embraces joy and exudes personality in a home. Not to mention, it falls perfectly in line with today's interior design trends — a little bit retro
once you have a better understanding of what color magenta
you'll realize why it's a designer favorite
