The V100 Mandello was a groundbreaking model when Moto Guzzi introduced it in the 2022 model year
With a new liquid-cooled 1,042cc “compact block” 90° V-Twin engine
the V100 immediately brought a jolt of modernity to a brand that was deeply steeped in its century-old history
the Mandello receives its first update since its debut
Most of the updates to the V100 Mandello range debuted on the Stelvio introduced at EICMA last year
the cotter was moved from the primary shaft to the clutch to improve damping capacity
with Moto Guzzi claiming smoother and more seamless gear shifting
Moto Guzzi also gave the V100 Mandello the Stelvio’s central radiator guard
which is the only real visual change apart from the updated colors
The V100 Mandello S inherits the Stelvio’s Imaging Radar 4D technology
The radar tech was developed by Moto Guzzi’s corporate cousin Piaggio Fast Forward
but we are a little surprised it hasn’t been used to incorporate adaptive cruise control yet
The 2025 V100 Mandello S comes in a choice of Verde Ghiaccio (green) or Rosso Lava (red)
Moto Guzzi added a new special edition V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel in celebration of 70 years since the opening of its then-revolutionary wind tunnel in 1954
With its active aero plus the fact it’s named after Moto Guzzi’s historic home in Mandello del Lario
the V100 Mandello was the perfect choice to celebrate the anniversary
The special edition model comes in the Moto Guzzi’s classic red and black colors with gold detailing
The V100 Mandello Wind Tunnel comes with the S model’s semi-active suspension
it doesn’t come standard with radar sensors like the S model
but the technology is available as an accessory
Radar is also available for the base model V100 Mandello
which is available in two more muted color options
Blu Oceano (blue) and Grigio Titanio (gray)
pricing starts at $15,590 for the base model V100 Mandello
It goes up to $18,490 for the V100 Mandello S
the special edition Wind Tunnel model slots in a bit lower at $17,990
All three variants will be available in dealerships in April

The yearly pilgrimage for Moto Guzzi fans is confirmed for September as Mandello del Lario once again opens its doors
Moto Guzzi Open House Returns for 2024 The annual bash celebrating the historic Italian brand Moto Guzzi is confirmed again for 2024 and will be taking place between September 12 and 15
Nestled on the banks of the stunning Lake Como and in the shadow of the spectacular Alps
Mandello del Lario is set to reverberate to the sound of V-twin engines again
as Guzzi fans from across the world will descend on the town
As with Moto Guzzi’s previous Open House events
there will be more on offer at the 2024 edition than simply stunning views and world-class riding roads
when the full programme of the Motoraduno Internazionale Città della Moto Guzzi (which translates as ‘International Motorcycle Rally City of Moto Guzzi’) will begin
the Moto Guzzi Museum will welcome visitors
The event will give fans the chance to check out the renovated Via Parodi factory
which is claimed will be an “ultra-modern facility which will be the production site of the Moto Guzzi bikes of the future.”
Moto Guzzi Open House Returns for 2024 The Piazza Leonardo da Vinci will be hosting an exhibition of machines
including a GTV 500 once owned by the Italian artist Antonio Ligabue
which will be watched over by a monument to Carlo Guzzi
Alongside these exhibits will be a collection of famous motorcycles from Moto Guzzi’s racing past.
A hosted ride-out will also be taking place
led by the Gruppo Amici di Maggiana and taking in 110 kilometres
Moto Guzzi Open House Returns for 2024 Alongside these and a host of other activities at this year’s open house, Moto Guzzi will also be holding the Motoraduno Lottery, which will see one lucky entrant taking home a Moto Guzzi V7 Stone in exclusive colours that are dedicated to the event

this strangely symmetrical mix of bike and destination
Needing to escape from a town with its population temporarily doubled by the Germans in laced leather trousers that inexplicably descend on any European bike event
I made some vague excuses to Guzzi’s press people
grabbed the keys to the new Stelvio NTX 8V and headed north up the shores of Lake Como
The alpine peaks that surround Mandello del Lario are the kind that hold much promise
you’re instead confined to the shores of the lake with old people in Pandas and hoards of motorcycle enthusiasts riding enthusiastically slow
Those peaks do look pretty when you’re sitting in traffic though
only the vaguest idea of where in the world I was and no desire to pay $30 a megabyte for data roaming on my iPhone
I just figured I’d head north and hope for the best
Italy is south of Switzerland and there’s some mountains in between
Plans firmed up at a gas station when a group of fellow Guzzi riders responded to my bad
it turned out they were heading back to England via the Stelvio pass and why don’t I join them that far
especially because it’s impossible to track down an old-fashioned paper road map in the 21st century
even in this very old-fashioned part of the world
That plan worked out at least for the first five miles
which is as long as it took to discover that these guys weren’t riding fast enough to make my newly aggressive travel schedule possible
Especially when you’re making up for not having the vaguest idea of how far the journey by just riding as fast as possible and hoping that’ll be good enough
I’d at least managed to establish that the way there involved going to St
Simply heading straight up the SS38 from the lake would have been much faster
The Guzzi factory really needs an arrow sign entitled “Stelvio Pass
But getting lost is sort of the essence of adventure and it turns out that going this way might have added about three hours to the trip
If the success of a day spent riding in the Alps can be measured in the number of alpine passes ridden — can you think of a better quantification
— then two passes one way and the one to rule them all
You’re likely as familiar with the Stelvio pass as I was when I embarked on this trip
You’ve seen it on Top Gear and you’ve read about it in car magazines
The pictures you always see of the pass are actually of its eastern face
I’ve always been a bit boggled as to why this is considered such a good/epic/famous driving road; a bunch of 1st gear hairpins connected by straights look visually dramatic in pictures
but just sound like a pain in the ass in real life
slowly teeter around a hairpin while feathering the clutch
then go back to full throttle when things straighten out
Sort of Europe’s equivalent of the Dragon or Snake
drivers with more supercar than skill and mad bikers come here from all over the continent
3rd and 4th gear corners with decent vision through them would probably make for more fun riding
Stelvio is a unique challenge and as good a destination as any when you’ve got a good bike and a day in the Alps to kill
The reason you always see pictures of and hear about the eastern part of the road are because the western side
is the stuff of literal and metaphorical nightmare
At least on the east you have guard rails and run off in places
it’s more a gymkhana with caravans thrown in than it is a riding road
These pictures are coming to you and to me via Google Earth
which was bright and sunny and warm just a few peaks away
Being able to see 10 yards in front of you helps with photography as much as it does with riding
My first taste of the 1st gear hairpins didn’t come on the Stelvio or Bernina though
it came just after the Swiss border and was a bit of an eye opener
Steaming along a quiet country road at 100+
I overtook a group of Germans on old BMWs only to find myself deep into an unexpected hairpin
All those trail braking mumbo jumbo Michael Czysz browbeat me with a couple years back called upon to help
but it’s a good thing there wasn’t a Eurovan full of lederhosen coming the other way
It turns out that 180°+ hairpins require a unique approach
but one grounded in general fast riding principals
You already know about racing lines and the importance of vision
you just need to adapt them to corners that are only 30 feet long
but change their elevation by 10 feet or more in that same space
is to use the vision afforded by our lack of roofs — hairpins must be a blind nightmare in most fast cars — to look up and backwards as you approach the corner
identifying the presence and position of oncoming traffic on the step of the road above you
If it’s clear or if the car is running wide
trail braking the bike into the sweep of the elevation
Use that to catch your momentum and add grip
turning sharply to seriously apex the corner once the bank catches you
Smoothly roll on the power and exit the corner
just one where you take corners flat out at 20mph
Sitting bolt upright with your arms spread out to the wide bars
it’s easy to rotate your head fully and look up and and to the side
Those wide bars help you crank it over when it’s finally time to turn too
but it really doesn’t take a huge mount of effort to steer the NTX
but here wearing road-biased Pirelli Scorpions
rolls over on its side in a manner alien to most modern bikes and their too-wide rubber
1st gear is short enough and the torque strong enough low down — 85lb/ft at just 5,800rpm — that you’re off the clutch and on the power as soon as you’re past that 20mph apex
That new motor really takes off between 6 and 8,000rpm though
A range you’ll reach in 1st and 2nd before the next hairpin
Cross that 6,000rpm barrier and the 1,151cc air/oil-cooled twin adopts a much more menacing
delivering 105bhp just as it’s time to start looking behind you and braking for the next hairpin
And “new” isn’t an exaggeration anywhere on the NTX
despite wearing very similar looks to the old bike
newly integrated tank/upper fairing that holds 8.45 gallons of gas
Those additional valves and new exhaust bring the most noticeable changes
the extremely rough fueling and peaky delivery of old have been replaced with utterly smooth response to throttle inputs and a torque curve that’s been shifted strongly into the low- and mid-range
decreases rear wheel width to 4.25-inches to make selection of dirt rubber easier and receives a host of additional accessories as standard
and extra-large windshield and additional wind deflectors on the side
All that boosts the distance capability and comfort of the bike while making it seriously rugged
You get the feeling you could throw it down in one of the hairpins
and ride it a couple hundred miles back to Mandello with only an apology to show for your trouble
In matte black — the only color available on the NTX — the whole thing feels ready for the Zombie Apocalypse
It just needs “Medusa” decals on the panniers
things are a long way from being a post apocalyptic wasteland
sees rough pavement switch to glassy smooth
The fields by the side of the road adopt a manicured look and wood smoke wafts from chimneys as wood lodges cling to picturesque hill sides
Dilapidated Fiats give way to brand new BMWs and Audi wagons wearing M and S badges
but the driving slows down as laws become social contract instead of red tape
Lacking any sort of paperwork for the bike
I was a bit worried about crossing out of the EU and into Switzerland
but the guards didn’t even look up from their desks as I failed to head the stop signs that informally mark the border
Covered in fog and rain and beset with cars and therefor traffic jams on each corner
the Stelvio ended up being more a destination to list rather than definitive experience
With the onboard thermometer reading 7 degrees Celsius at the tourist trap cafe up top and equipped only with summer gloves
the ride became more about just getting through than it was having fun
The invariable presence of oncoming cyclists on the narrow pass makes passing impossible
except for the kind that qualifies more as lane splitting as the cars begin queueing up to slowly tackle each hairpin
It’s easy to imagine white knuckled fathers quietly cursing under their breath as bored children play video games or piss their pants in the back seat
Nothing to see but a nebulous wall of blank white space and a narrow black strip of asphalt leading into it
160 total if you go over and back like I did
Riding down a pass requires an equally unique approach to riding up one
but out goes the positive camber of the uphill sweep
replaced instead with a road that falls away from your front tire
Looking down for oncoming traffic is easier than looking up
which is good because you want to be on the opposite side of the road — there are no lanes — every other corner
it’s in this circumstance where the NTX really begins to shine
This Moto Guzzi is invariably compared to that BMW
not only are the specs extremely similar — air-cooled longitudinal twins
single-plate clutches — but the Italian bike was created specifically to benefit and conquest sales from the German
Some things about the GS are better — it’s nearly 100lbs lighter than the NTX to start
although it admittedly comes with fewer options — but there’s two big differences that right here
applying the front brakes compresses the front suspension
steepening its angle and making steering both faster and more confidence inspiring as weight transitions to the front wheel and the contact patch grows
Say what you will about the benefits of BMW’s dive-free Telelever
there’s nothing better than a traditional set of telescopic forks
Like pretty much any other shaft driven bike
there’s a lurch in the NTX from a completely off throttle to on
that’d usually spoil confidence and therefore speed
can easily break traction on the rear tire just as you need to apply power most carefully
But that standard traction control really helps here
so you’re able to find more speed through more lean angle without fearing a crash
Going down actually become more fun than going up
Back out of the national park that surrounds the pass and there’s a sign for Sondrio
Out onto the dual carriage way and it’s an easy 100 miles home where a plastic tub of microwaved Penne Bolognese and a bad bottle of cheap red wine awaits
at least the bikes live up to expectations

2024 Moto Guzzi Stelvio Pricing And Preorder Details Are Here
Moto Guzzi overhauls its factory and also teases the V100 Mandello motorcycle
Moto Guzzi has announced expansive changes to its historic facility in Mandello del Lario
an award-winning US architect who was named one of the world’s 10 most influential architects by Forbes magazine
which aims to create an entire cultural hub for the Moto Guzzi brand
Production capabilities will be expanded as well to meet growing demand
The designs make use of the existing structures on site
and the additional materials required to finish things off will be as eco-conscious and sustainable as possible
work is expected to start by the end of this year and finish sometime in the first half of 2025
As part of the event announcing the facility plans, Moto Guzzi also gave a sneak preview of its upcoming V100 Mandello streetbike
The details of the machine won’t be released until November 23
it clearly strays from Guzzi’s current retro aesthetic
The transverse V-twin arrangement and shaft final drive remain
but the bike is clearly poised to appeal to sport-touring riders and those who prefer softer
Guzzi also promises a “cutting-edge engine” and “state-of-the-art technologies” in the V100 Mandello
so we’ll be keeping an eye out for the official release and report back when those details are finally available

The latest Goose flies with semi-active suspension and adaptive aerodynamics
2021 marked Moto Guzzi’s 100-year anniversary, and the Mandello Del Lario brand celebrated the momentous occasion with special-edition models and a traveling museum exhibit. By September 2021, Guzzi shifted its focus from the rearview mirror to the road ahead, giving fans a sneak peek of the all-new 2022 Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello sport-tourer
the liter-size V100 powerplant is shorter by 4.1 inches
Guzzi puts that compact design to good use with a 58.5-inch wheelbase
A long single-sided swingarm with shaft drive steadies the Mandello at high speed while the compact chassis maintains agility in the esses
The tubular-steel frame cuts weight by utilizing the 1,042cc engine as a stressed member and the Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension automatically tunes the handling characteristics to rider and the road
The system adjusts the V100’s three different engine maps
and suspension calibration to suit each situation
Equipped with a Marelli 11MP ECU and 6-axis IMU
the sport-tourer’s industry-first adaptive aerodynamics steals the spotlight
Consisting of wind deflectors mounted at the sides of the 4.6-gallon fuel tank
the innovative system adapts to the current speed and ride mode
The deflectors provide 22% more wind protection in the fully-deployed position
and along with the electronically-adjustable windscreen
amplify the cockpit’s comfort beyond the generously-padded seat
The 2022 Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello’s MSRP or availability have not yet been announced
a base model and a premium model with standard Öhlins semi-active suspension

It appears that my next bike will be a Guzzi
Looking for a good touring type of machine…you know
Being a fan of the Moto Guzzi brand and owning one
I’m looking at the V100 with rosy colored glasses
even though with “adaptive aerodynamics” it still remains to be seen how it is executed in everyday use or just added fluff…
Not sure about “adaptive aerodynamics”…
Simply the best looking new motorcycle to come along in ages
All the Moto Guzzi “nay sayers” should not knock them until they’ve owned one
There is a certain charm about them that’s hard to describe and they truly are greater than the sum of their parts
The thrum of a Moto Guzzi V-Twin is unique
and we’ve fallen under its spell on many a ride
and after riding my KTM1290 super adventure
i was not able to make the downsize in power adjustment
but to be fair the V85TT is a great bike and i thoroughly enjoyed my hour test ride which consited with a range of fast straights
and some additional fun finding and looking for the power as a reminder of how riding a bike slightly under power can be a joy
and when pulling up at lights that Guzzi characteristic sideways shudder and pull of the engine was addictive
I ended up chopping my KTM for a new BMW R1250 GSR Adventure
but when I have recovered from the financial hit!!
I will be looking for a second bike and without doubt it’s almost certainly going to be a bike with sole and therefore must be a Guzzi
The Freewind is an ugly pig (sorry but very true)
The Mandello is a piece of motorcycling art
I’ve test ridden the base model and this is a seriously impressive motorcycle
I actually thought Ducati was introducing adaptive headlights
and they steer you around the mountains at night by moving with the steering instead of highlighting trees
This is the best looking motorcycle to come out this year
Moto Guzzi have burst into their second century with a technological explosion that few
What a departure from the traditional to the modern
Everyone is talking about H-D making big leaps
MG just joined the party and brought a real looker with them
I only wish that I had a dealership within a 5 hour drive
I’m getting the first one my dealer gets
I’m very excited and it will fit nicely next to my v85tt
Any indication of what the wet weight will be
This is not a bike for the faint of heart (115/77) for sure
I can’t stop looking at these pics!!
All you need is a restrained right wrist and a little common sense
People told me many years ago that I would kill myself on a Bandit 1200 (101/70 before mods) but were looking at the bike
It’s not the bike that’s going to kill them
The V100 looks to be an excellent bike and one of the few that I can find no fault
My last Guzzi was a Mk1 Le Manns 850 bored to 999cc using forged Cosworth blanks machined up and fitted to Modified CCM liners shrunk into the machined finned aluminium cylinder castings
40mm Dellorto carbs on straight feed stubs and gas-flowed heads with a race cam and open megaphone exhaust
It had won the Avon Roadrunner Production series 1977 as an 850cc under Roy Armstrong
I have wished I never sold that bike but wow this V100 has me drooling to get back on a bike after all these years of celibacy
We only have one Guzzi dealer in the Atlanta area
the dealer said supply is limited and they have no idea on the cost
They already have a list of people that placed a deposit
I’m just concern with limited dealer network when taking a trip outside my area
I was bitterly disappointed when MG cancelled the release of the MGS-01
A real stunner but whatever the MSRP is dealers will likely add a $$$ premium
I have a deposit on the premium model and anxiously waiting for my dealer to notify me of delivery
I am a lifetime member in the MGNOC #5 and have owned 15 different Guzzis since 1975 including 1976 LeMans and 1983 LeMans Iii

Moto Guzzi does not just celebrate a milestone but rather a starting point
The beginning of a new century in which Moto Guzzi will continue producing magnificent motorcycles
Oozing with charm and cutting-edge technology
these modern machines will be proudly made in Italy
which will continue to be the epicenter of Moto Guzzi passion
The Moto Guzzi headquarters will also benefit from a new look
the result of an ambitious project to reconstruct
becoming a place in which to meet and share the love for motorcycling
based on the concepts of environmental sustainability and the efficient use of resources
will serve to promote a totally unique technical and cultural heritage by carefully balancing tradition and innovation
“100” as in the history written during its first century
“100” as in the second century that has just begun
the displacement of the very modern new engine
the basis for a family of new generation motorcycles that will come to light in the future
the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello will mark the start of a brand-new chapter in the Moto Guzzi story
A bike that refuses to conform or fit into just one category
it will combine dynamic flair with the travel vocation that lives in the soul of every Moto Guzzi
one characterized by cutting-edge technology
as the brand paves the way towards the future with innovative technical solutions and aerodynamics
V100 Mandello will also present an innovative design which
focuses on showcasing the unique and inimitable V-twin engine
Lines that are far from nostalgic and that offer a modern take on the very cornerstones of Moto Guzzi style
This is clear to see in the shapes of the tank
which appear to be molded directly to the muscular engine heads
the slots of which are a clear reference to the legendary 1976 Le Mans
that embodies the character and authenticity typical of all Moto Guzzis
Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello will represent a turning point in the brand’s history
the project introducing some very important technological innovations
It will be the very first motorcycle to offer adaptive aerodynamics
and the first Moto Guzzi to be equipped with advanced electronic solutions such as the six-axis inertial platform
to cite just a few of the most important features
And it will be the first Moto Guzzi to be powered by the new “compact block” engine
with its sophisticated technical characteristics
Tradition is respected with the 90° transverse V architecture of the twin
which guarantees that unique torque delivery and inimitable Moto Guzzi sound
An innovative design has allowed for the development of an extremely compact and lightweight engine
which is 103 mm shorter than the V85 TT small block
The new twin stands out from all the engines recently built in Mandello del Lario for its cylinder heads
a decision that increases on-board comfort and rationalizes the positioning of components in the intake and electronic injection systems
while timing involves a double overhead camshaft with finger followers and four valves per cylinder
It also flaunts a wet sump lubrication system
with power more than 115 HP and torque of more than 105 Nm
with 90% already available at 3500 rpm and the limiter set at 9500 rpm
Data that effectively showcases the character and power of the new engine
gutsy and with real drive already at low speeds
and able to offer a riding experience worthy of the Moto Guzzi name
The shaft drive employs a long aluminum single-sided swingarm
much lower with respect to previous Moto Guzzi engines
does away with any suspension reaction owing to the transfer of torque
This makes for a smooth ride during both acceleration and release
but with the typical advantages of the shaft
so less maintenance and greater cleanliness
The sports character of V100 Mandello does not just have to do with the performance of the new engine
but also the qualities of a compact and manageable chassis
which offers excitement through the turns and fast sections but also real stability over more long-range trips
This is also thanks to the steel tube frame with 1486 mm wheelbase
fruit of a first-rate Moto Guzzi construction culture and ideal for showcasing the bike’s agility
Its touring attitude is boosted thanks to the significant comfort that the generous saddle and active
The adoption of a single variable-section aluminum handlebar is in line with the philosophy of the model
perfect for ensuring control during sports riding while also offering a higher and more relaxed riding position when touring
Two-person travel is at the base of the project
the passenger able to count on a significant
well-padded portion of saddle and practical grab handles
with a posture that ensures a relaxing trip
dedicated accessories catalogue also includes a set of bike cases
which do not require any additional supports for assembly and contain both the side bulk and weight of the bike
Moto Guzzi technology also contributes to increasing both comfort and air protection
with the world-first adoption of an adaptive aerodynamic system that automatically adjusts the position of deflectors on the sides of the 17.5-liter tank depending on the speed and selected Riding Mode
The fully raised aerodynamic appendages reduce air pressure on the rider by 22%
which brings V100 Mandello close to the level of air protection afforded by more voluminous and less sporty tourers
thanks also to the protection provided by the top fairing
the height of which can be electronically adjusted
This system contributes to what is a first-rate electronics package
comprising the Ride by Wire electronic accelerator for precise performance and consumption control
the six-axis inertial platform for effective management of the electronic controls
and Cornering ABS to ensure active safety when braking through the turns
Each of these manages three different engine mappings
three levels of engine brake and (in the version that introduces them as standard) also calibration of the Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension
to suit the type of riding and the road conditions
for the best possible bike behavior in any situation
Moto Guzzi technology does not only aim to ensure a safe and exciting ride
The rider need only select the Riding Mode that best suits their riding requirements to benefit from the best automatic adjustment of the electronic parameters
which can also be personalized so that every rider can find their preferred settings
Also included as standard is the 5″ color TFT instrumentation
full LED lighting with DRL and the “bending lights” system with a pair of additional lights that illuminate the entire corner
V100 Mandello is available in two versions
The more comprehensive version includes Öhlins semi-active suspension as standard
and the Moto Guzzi MIA multimedia platform that allows a smartphone to be connected to the instrumentation via Bluetooth to extend its functions
Moto Guzzi MIA includes both the infotainment system for management of the voice assistant
phone calls and music via the intuitive handlebar controls
which allows the rider to view directions directly on the instrument panel once a destination is set on the smartphone
Moto Guzzi have given their V100 Mandello range a refresh for 2025
introducing their radar guided rider safety system to the top-of-the-range version
while also unveiling a new special edition that celebrates the brand’s innovative approach to aerodynamics
The 2024 Mandello S already came with a comprehensive smattering of tech and high-end goodies including Öhlins semi-active suspension
Guzzi have incorporated their PFF Rider Assistance Solution into the bike’s standard kit list too
The tech is borrowed from the brand’s resident adventure bike – the Stelvio
which entered the market earlier this year
It operates using 4D radar imaging and offers forward collision warning
Smaller updates include changes to the gearbox which mirror those already made to the Stelvio and are said to improve gear change feel. Another detail carried over from the Guzzi’s adventure bike is the standard fitment of a central radiator guard to protect against stone strikes
The now Euro5+ 90° 1042cc V-twin ‘compact block’ motor still boasts an ample 113bhp at 8700rpm and 77lb-ft of torque – 82% of which comes on tap at 3500rpm
Guzzi have introduced the new V100 Mandello ‘Wind Tunnel’ to their lineup
which is built to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Italian brand’s innovative approach to aerodynamics
Guzzi became the first motorcycle manufacturer globally to incorporate a wind tunnel into their design process
launching their own in Mandello Del Lario on April 12
This innovation allowed Guzzi to refine their fairing structures with aerodynamic precision that set a new standard in the industry
and Moto Guzzi continued their pioneering spirit with the introduction of the Mandello model
which they claim is the world’s first motorcycle to feature adaptive aerodynamics
The system stays in place for 2025 and can adjust the position of the deflectors on the sides of the tank depending on the speed and riding mode selected – offering a pressure reduction of up to 22% on the rider
Moto Guzzi say: “It enables the overall dimensions to remain contained
offering protection and comfort only when necessary and required by the rider
The shape of the Mandello V100 were also developed through more than 200 hours of CFD calculations and tests in the wind tunnel
Customers looking to buy the standard model will have the choice of two colours
The Mandello S comes in ‘Verde Ghiaccio’ and ‘Rossi Lava’ for 2025
whereas the Wind Tunnel comes solely in a red and black livery

including new additions to its legendary collection
The Moto Guzzi museum in Mandello del Lario in Italy has reopened
Moto Guzzi closed their museum in early 2020
and it has remained so throughout the Covid pandemic
with much of the world transitioning to a post-Covid reality
the Italian brand is reopening the doors to its legendary collection.
The museum was reopened last Friday (29 April 2022)
and Moto Guzzi says in a press release that it celebrates “the history of the Moto Guzzi brand with its bikes
The press release from Moto Guzzi continues
“The renovated museum anticipates the new project
for the conservative renovation of the entire industrial plant that will make Moto Guzzi a veritable hub open to the public.”
the museum itself has been renovated and redesigned
with three separate sections in the museum dedicated to different sections of the Guzzi collection: production
the collection in Mandello del Lario features 160 different bikes from Moto Guzzi’s history
Those 160 bikes “have been carefully and minutely restored over the past months,” according to Moto Guzzi
whose own staff has been responsible for the restoration of the museum pieces.
The collection includes bikes from throughout Moto Guzzi’s history, from the 1919 GP prototype to the V85 TT that is in production today
and even the legendary 14-time World Champion bike
There is also a new section dedicated to the 1937 Isle of Man TT winning rider
For anyone wanting to go to visit the museum in Mandello del Lario

Moto Guzzi has a rich history encompassing more than a century
The Italian brand is touted as the oldest European motorcycle manufacturer in continuous production since it first opened its doors in 1921
Moto Guzzi has developed quite the following
despite being considered a rather boutique motorcycle manufacturer
From September 7 to 10, 2023, Moto Guzzi conducted its Open House event at Mandello del Lario. Close to 35,000 Moto Guzzi aficionados flocked to the Italian village to celebrate all things Guzzi
fans came from as far as the US and Australia
all of which were eager to take part in the celebration of the global Moto Guzzi family
boasts a captivating past intertwined with Italy's industrial growth and the emergence of the eagle brand as a worldwide icon
attendees were treated to a special experience - witnessing the bike and engine assembly lines in operation and exploring the Wind Tunnel
a place steeped in historical significance within the factory
Constructed during the 1950s with a primary focus on aerodynamic research
the wind tunnel at the Mandello factory held the distinction of being the world's first facility of its kind
Its significance extended beyond mere experimentation
playing a pivotal role in the development of the legendary 8-cylinder 500
this wind tunnel contributed significantly to Moto Guzzi's impressive track record of 14 world championships
comprising eight rider titles and six constructor championships
making it the vibrant hub of the four-day festivities
accompanied by a roster of guests who enthralled the audience with gripping stories of races
The village also served as the starting point for an impressive tally of over 600 test rides on a diverse array of models
ranging from the classic V7 to the original V9
At the heart of the village, the current lineup of Moto Guzzi motorcycles took center stage, showcasing the latest addition, the V7 Stone Corsa
which celebrated its premiere during the Open House event
let's not forget the noble cause that the Open House embraced – charity fundraising
the spotlight shone on the V7 Stone 75° Oro Olimpico
a distinctive edition honoring the triumph of Mandello Moto Guzzi's rowing team at the 1948 London Olympics
Moto Guzzi generously donated this special version to Moto Guzzi Canottieri
and it's set to go under the hammer in an auction
The proceeds from this auction will support the club's efforts in fostering rowing activities for both young individuals and disabled adults
the Moto Guzzi factory complex in Mandello del Lario
hosted a special event called Road to 2121: Moto Guzzi’s Next 100 Years
every single Moto Guzzi-branded motorcycle has rolled out of this factory
no matter how far it’s ridden around the world
Guzzi is looking forward to another century of production
The event presented brand-new renders from renowned American architect Greg Lynn
with plans to redevelop the entire Moto Guzzi factory and museum complex
This design is said to put environmental sustainability and efficient use of resources at its core
Eco-sustainable construction materials and extensive use of photovoltaic systems are baked directly into the design
It’s also meant to be an inviting space for the public
with extensive use of open spaces for visitors and locals to gather
Moto Guzzi is taking this opportunity to expand factory production capacity so it can better match the growth in demand for its motorcycles
and a restaurant are also planned to be part of the reimagined Moto Guzzi facility
This render isn’t just a vision of the future; it’s also a roadmap
construction will start before the end of 2021
This ambitious redesign and expansion project of the Moto Guzzi complex is planned for completion sometime in the first half of 2025
Guzzi also took this time to offer a sneak peek at the upcoming Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello
with its formal unveiling scheduled to come at EICMA 2021 in November in Milan
The new design vision for the factory pairs with the new design vision for the V100 Mandello
bringing classic Moto Guzzi themes into the 21st century—and
Guzzi World Days officially kicked off today in Mandello del Lario
2022—and the festival is extra-special this year for a couple of reasons.
For one reason, of course, it marks a return to togetherness for Guzzisti after the pandemic made it impossible to safely hold such events for two long years
Moto Guzzi is also calling this its official 100th anniversary birthday party—even though technically
(It’s just like when your own birthday falls on a work day and you have the party on the weekend instead
In May, 2022, we told you that Guzzi World Days would be back on in September
Since it was so far ahead of the actual event
details about what to expect at the festival weren’t yet available at that time
we have a better idea of what kinds of festivities attendees can expect to partake in while they’re there.
which was recently renovated and reorganized
so unless you’re someone who has the opportunity to go there regularly
Guzzi World Days is the perfect opportunity to make the pilgrimage.
Moto Guzzi will be offering free test rides on its bikes to attendees
If you’re interested in checking out the latest and greatest that Moto Guzzi has to offer
there are definitely far worse places to do it than beautiful Mandello del Lario
you will also be able to appreciate the V100 Mandello up close and in person.
full of all eras of Guzzi motorcycles gathering together and flowing to stop in front of the gate at Moto Guzzi headquarters
Both Moto Guzzi Museum and Factory tours will be free throughout the event
so you’ll be able to soak up as much Guzzi culture and history as you care to do.
Customizers including Officine Rossopuro will have displays
and an overall good Guzzisti vibe to celebrate the Italian eagle brand
it will be a festival that Moto Guzzi fans probably won’t want to miss.
After recently celebrating its centennial and the brand’s rich history, Moto Guzzi has turned its attention to the future with the “Road to 2121.” The bold initiative announced today includes a futuristic restructuring project including a new factory and museum to be built at the current site in Mandello del Lario

ultramodern creations and the architect behind the new San Francisco Museum of Modern Art
with a strong green focus,” will include open public spaces and a place for the local community and tourists to meet
Guzzi has stated that the project will use existing onsite structures and maximize environmental sustainability and efficiency in its use of resources
While building materials will be chosen with close attention to efficient energy management
thanks to photovoltaic systems and eco-sustainable materials
The Piaggio Group intends to establish the Moto Guzzi brand as an example
but also of modern design and hopes that the site will become a focal point for Guzzi bikers and young people
and international tourists interested in the venerable brand
The new factory will also extend the firm’s production capacity to keep pace with the growth in demand
the project will create new conference facilities to host both internal and external events
as well as a hotel and a restaurant for a complete range of amenities to welcome visitors from around the world
Work is scheduled to commence by the end of the year and should be completed in the first half of 2025
Moto Guzzi pulled another card from their sleeve and announced the V100 Mandello
We know very little about this new machine
but Guzzi is promising it will have a cutting-edge engine and state-of-the-art technologies
We look forward to the new motorcycle’s scheduled release on November 23
at the EICMA international motorcycle show in Milan
The first word I thought of was ‘drool’
I wasn’t a fan initially when I first scanned the photos however the more I look at the details the more it appeals to me
Take away the Kawasaki muffler and its absolutely gorgeous
Hope the ergonomics are good for all ages
Google search tells me there are 68 Moto-Guzzi dealerships in the USA and 13 in Canada
The ones I’ve visited seem a tad “fragile” – they certainly do not rely on selling new Guzzi’s to stay in business
Canada; both presently do not sell Moto-Guzzi any longer
it’s much easier to buy a Triumph than a Guzzi
I wish an MG representative could speak directly to this and explain how
from the perspective of a potential new customer
Thankfully I live in Southern Ontario where we have 2 Guzzi dealerships
one of which – Two Wheel Motorsports in Guelph – is a multi-line and one of the largest dealerships in Canada
And my V85TT is a dream to work on myself
and believe the Eldorado to be one of the most handsome cruisers in the world
I average 20-24,000 miles during each Northeast riding season
The scant dealer network combined with mandatory valve adjustments at 4,000 miles makes the brand a non-starter for me… And apparently much of the buying public as well
The dealer being a little over an hour away isn’t a deal breaker for me

The history of Moto Guzzi is told starting from the first section on the first floor
the prototype that led to the production of the “Normale”
with the exhibition of the subsequent production models all the way to the first years of the new millennium and of the motorcycles destined for military use
The tour then leads to the second area located on the first floor
including legendary vehicles like the futuristic Otto Cilindri
bikes that earned Moto Guzzi 14 world championships
New additions include an area dedicated to Omobono Tenni
the great Moto Guzzi rider who won the Tourist Trophy in 1937

With the final quarter of 2021 fast approaching
Moto Guzzi shifted its focus to the future
lifting the covers on the all-new V100 Mandello
Moto Guzzi plans to deliver the full model presentation on November 23
While we have to wait another few months for the complete details
Moto Guzzi’s social media handles and YouTube channel give us an extended peek at the new Mandello
Despite an overreliance on screeching eagle sound effects
the reveal video highlights the platform’s single-sided swingarm and liquid-cooled mill
the aptly-named V100 engine recognized the brand’s achievements while pushing it into a new era
many assume that the liquid-cooled transverse V-twin will boast a displacement around 1,000cc and produce between 110 and 120 horsepower
we’ll have to wait for the firm’s EICMA presentation to confirm figures
but speculation should tide us over for now
Aside from the swooping drone shots and majestic eagle landing
the video also captures the V100 Mandello’s active aerodynamics
the windshield follows suit while two side flaps open to manage oncoming airflow
Italian media outlets got an exclusive look at the new Goose during a special press conference
The V100 on display also revealed an up-spec variant with Ohlins semi-active suspension
both versions are expected to tout Brembo braking systems and Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires
but there’s no word if it will be standard equipment or an add-on option
Moto Guzzi may have saved the full unveiling for EICMA 2021
but the V100 Mandello is already a fitting start to the brand’s next 100 years
so they’ve thrown a party in the form of the splendid V100 Mandello
The view is like something from a Sean Connery Bond film
glass-smooth waters drift by as the road snakes its way along the base of the cliffs overlooking Mandello del Lario
the million-dollar houses dotted on the hillsides matched to a billion-dollar view
No wonder George Clooney chose nearby Lake Como as his home
one of the singularly most beautiful places on earth
Mandello del Lario is famous for breathtaking views and motorcycles with strangely mounted motors
The transverse V-twin is a Moto Guzzi trademark
the epochal engine elevating the niche manufacturer into a realm occupied by no one else
The transverse V-twin is more Guzzi than the pushrod V-twin is Harley
Produce one without the famous Italian eagle on the tank and you’d be merely copying
on which I’m enjoying my northern Italian dream state
is significant not just in that it’s new
but because this motorcycle houses Moto Guzzi’s first-ever water-cooled 90° V-twin
Dubbed the “short block,” with its cylinder heads rotated 90° so now
the intake manifold sits in the center of the V rather than near the rider’s knees
the new engine is 103mm shorter front to back than in the old air-cooled form
This has allowed Moto Guzzi’s engineers to create a motorcycle unlike anything they’ve done for the past
Producing a claimed 115 horsepower at 8700 rpm and 77 lb-ft of torque at 6750 rpm
the V100 Mandello isn’t going to pull any arms out of sockets from sheer acceleration
but the performance it does have is perfectly adapted to its required task
Sport touring has tilted significantly more towards sport in recent years
with machines like BMW’s S 1000 XR and even sister company Aprilia’s base-model V4 Tuono pushing the game further out of reach from what the class was intended to be
Its 115 horsepower is all one needs in a machine that will play perfectly happily in either the sport or touring segment
especially so as it’s the first production motorcycle to be fitted with adaptable aerodynamics (more on that later)
Graced with four riding modes of Turismo (Tour)
and with traction- and engine-control maps to suit via a new six-axis Marelli 11MP IMU
there’s plenty of torque for low-rpm hairpin exits while still providing the required go to pass the thousands of cars ambling along our coast road in northern Italy
Matched to an up-and-down quickshifter that is not the sleekest in the world
especially in the first two gears when torque is at its maximum
the V100 Mandello’s motor is remarkable in how smooth it is
You get 82 percent of that 77 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm
so you hardly have to dance on the shift lever to keep the motor in its sweet spot
The new motor’s internals are dramatically lighter than in the old air-cooled 1200cc 8V guise
and with its new counter-rotating crankshaft (thank-you lessons from Aprilia’s MotoGP program)
there’s nowhere near the same side-to-side rock you get in the chassis when you blip the throttle—a Moto Guzzi transverse twin trademark if ever there was one
the gearbox could have been smoother for a bike of this price
Revving the liquid-cooled motor out and searching for gears can lead to a decent “thump” as the next cog is selected—this is a case of feeling for the motor’s sweet spot and slotting the gear in place at the correct time
is one of the machine’s engaging qualities
The motor is tilted forward by five degrees
allowing Guzzi’s engineers to produce a long and low chassis with ample room for the rider
A seat height of 32 inches should make this an accessible machine for an enormous range of riders
I opted for the 20mm taller accessory seat to alleviate some of the strain on my knees after an hour on board
The S model on which I am riding is graced with Ӧhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension
a system we’ve seen many times on a lot of different machines
the system allows for fully automatic damping front and rear
and adjust the electronic “clickers” yourself—there’s also a handy preload knob on the left side in case you have a passenger and or luggage
Inside the suspension’s ECU sits two auto modes—Dynamic and Comfort—then there are two manual modes of Manual 1 and Manual 2
Seeing as I was riding on my own with no passenger or luggage
switching to the harder auto mode of Dynamic was perfect for me
as it gave the front a little more support under braking without harming the overall ride quality
Two turns of preload on the shock didn’t hurt
You’ve got Brembo M4.32 calipers up front; nothing overly special there
but they’ve given you a quality Brembo radial 18mm master cylinder to modulate the power
even if the ABS kicks in a little earlier than I would have liked when I did a few practice emergency stops
Now for the $17K question: do the adaptive aerodynamics make much of a difference
These are not aerodynamic winglets designed to increase downforce so you can get to lunch faster
The adaptive aero flaps sit just under where your wrists fall on the handlebars and are claimed to reduce air pressure on the rider by up to 22 percent and work in conjunction with the electronically adjustable windscreen
Moto Guzzi has spent over 200 hours of wind-tunnel testing getting this system right
and at the moderate speeds I tested the V100 Mandello at
I could discern a little less wind buffeting when riding it above 60 mph
the flaps only open in Tour at 43 mph and always remain open when you ride in Rain mode
although you can go into the modes individually and allow them to open at a predetermined speed
but I would need to do more consistent high-speed riding to form a proper opinion
as we were mainly confined to mountain switchbacks with the occasional freeway jaunt
so I’ll reserve final judgment until I’m back Stateside
I will say that the ride position is nearly spot-on for long stints in the saddle
The handlebar height and adjustable screen make the cockpit a comfortable place to sit for hours at a time
The only addition I would insist on is the taller seat
Moto Guzzi has done an exceptional job with the V100 Mandello
and the model is a genuine alternative to the Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX
It’s certainly got an overflow of personality the others lack
in the true hue of Moto Guzzi’s greatest hits
The price tag for the S is certainly up there
but given the performance on offer is not just ripping through corners but slowing down and enjoying the ride makes for a compelling argument
Here’s to the next 100 years of Moto Guzzi
If the V100 Mandello S is a little high for your tastes
Moto Guzzi has developed two other models for you
the S’s 43mm semi-active Ӧhlins fork and shock are replaced by 41mm Kayaba fork and shock
and the paint is a rather fetching semi-gloss white or deep red
from the adjustable screen and aero to the IMU
more exclusive model is the V100 Mandello Aviazione Navale
symbolizing the bond between Moto Guzzi and the Italian navy
Resplendent in stunning flat grey in the same hue as the nation’s F35B fighter jet
each with their unit number stamped on the handlebar clamp
No word on MSRP or if this model will make it to America.CN
Moto Guzzi is celebrating 100 years of making motorcycles this year, and part of that celebration includes the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello model that was teased today
Birthday’s come with presents though
Moto Guzzi is getting the gift of a new factory and museum at its Italian home of Mandello del Lario
The new factory and museum is set to be a point of pilgrimage for Moto Guzzi fans, and it is being designed by acclaimed architect Greg Lynn
The structures are to take form much in the same way as Moto Guzzi sees its motorcycles
as the mechanical integration of modern design
the new facilities will incorporate existing structures
and boost the factory’s production capacity
presumably with state-of-the art assemblyline structures
There will also be new conference facilities to host both internal and external events
as well as a hotel and a restaurant to welcome visitors from around the world
Work on the new factory and museum will commence by the end of 2021
and will be completed in the first half of 2025
Guzzi left no stone unturned during its year-long celebration
With the unveiling of the V100 Mandello sport-tourer
Casa de Mandello Del Lario signaled its shift to focusing on its next 100 years
Moto Guzzi is finally giving us the full details behind its most advanced model yet
the 2022 V100 Mandello features a liter-size transverse V-twin engine
1,042cc engine produces 115 horsepower and 77.4 lb-ft of torque
The brand-new powerplant is just more powerful than any mill in Moto Guzzi’s current lineup
but the compact block design makes it 4 inches shorter than the V85 TT’s small-block engine
The peppy V-twin sits in a steel tube frame that connects to an aluminum single-sided swingarm
the chassis remains stable on the highway while taking on a sporty character in the canyons
The favorable wheelbase isn’t solely responsible for the V100’s adaptability

A new V1000 engine signals a new era for the grand Italian marque
Moto Guzzi made sport-touring waves when it introduced its V100 Mandello in November
the Italian brand kept further details under wraps for nearly a year
it looks like Moto Guzzi is ready to finally unleash the V100 after announcing the model’s European pricing and availability
the V100 will come in a base model and an up-spec S trim
Both variants will benefit from the liquid-cooled
The new mill will pump out 115 ponies and 77.4 lb-ft of torque
making it the most potent powerplant in Moto Guzzi’s catalog
A Marelli 11MP ECU helps corral all those ponies with four ride modes (Travel
while a six-axis IMU unlocks multi-level traction control and lean-sensitive ABS
Riders can control the robust electronics suite through the five-inch TFT display
as the V100 is set to debut the first adaptive aerodynamics system with tank-mounted wind deflectors
the S model adds Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension
and Moto Guzzi’s MIA multimedia platform to the pot
The S-spec version will come in the premium Verde 2121 and Grigio Avangiuardia paint options and retail for €18,249 ($18,500 USD)
Moto Guzzi will offer the base model in Polar White and Magna Red colorways
the company hasn’t released availability or pricing information outside of Europe just yet
we think the V100 Mandello will put up a valiant fight in the competitive sport-touring segment
It looks like Moto Guzzi isn’t done making waves
A brief history of the Mandello del Lario factory
plus a chat with Piaggio CEO Roberto Colaninno
Moto Guzzi is celebrating its 100th birthday this year, and the commemorate the occasion, the Eagle brand has a special motorcycle debuting at this year’s EICMA show
We are getting an early look at the machine though
as Moto Guzzi also announced today that it was going to undertake a massive overhaul of its headquarters in Mandello del Lario
and is using the bike’s teasing to help communicate that message
The Italian brand isn’t giving away too many details on the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello just yet however
which isn’t an inconsequential amount
we can see that the V100 Mandello continues the use of Moto Guzzi’s iconic transverse engine layout
but with a giant radiator to aid with water-cooling the engine
This means a new powerplant has been designed for the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello
and judging from the bike’s other sporty features
we can expect this new v-twin to be a bit more punchy than its air-cooled brethren
From Moto Guzzi’s teaser video above, we can also see that the Italian brand is playing with some active aerodynamic elements – something the company’s sister brand, Aprilia, announced at EICMA several years ago.
The moveable body panels seemed designed for rider comfort, and deflect wind around the rider’s body when traveling at highway speeds.
This looks like a useful feature, as the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello strikes us a bike that will fill the shoes as a sport-touring model in most riders’ garages.
We can expect a full electronics suite, including cornering ABS and other high-tech features to accompany the V100.
However, we will have to wait until the 2021 EICMA show to know fully all the details about the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello.
Lately the venerable Mandello plant is working overtime. Moto Guzzi, in a bid to compete with leading European manufacturers, has nearly doubled its workforce to produce the V85 TT, an adventure motorcycle that will vie for customers with BMW’s GS, KTM’s Adventure, Ducati’s Multistrada and Triumph’s Tiger machines.
So far, the strategy is working. In the six months since it was introduced, the V85 TT has become the company’s hottest brand, far exceeding sales expectations. More than 70% of trade-ins on purchases of the V85 TT are from non-Moto Guzzi owners.
“That was our goal, to take new customers from the other brands,” production manager Nello Mariotti said recently as he guided a group of visitors through the factory. “We must make owners of other brands know, what is Moto Guzzi.”
Founded by two World War I airplane pilots and their mechanic, Moto Guzzi entered the European motorcycle market in 1923 and was soon Italy’s leading bike builder. The company manufactured affordable scooters for commuters and elegant, expensive race bikes for enthusiasts — machines that dominated the European Grand Prix circuit. For a time, even the Los Angeles Police Department used Moto Guzzis for its motorcycle fleet.
Despite its successes, the company began to wane. Its founders died; its funding evaporated. Moto Guzzi endured decades of ownership changes before finally being absorbed into the giant Piaggio Group in 2004.
Overshadowed in sales by Piaggio’s Vespa and in media attention by its Aprilia brand, Moto Guzzi became a niche player. It was followed by a small but passionate number of “Guzzisti.” More than 30,000 of them assembled at the Mandello factory for the 2018 Moto Guzzi World Days gathering.
The V85 TT is the company’s play to re-enter the big leagues. With the PR assistance of actor Ewan McGregor — a longtime Guzzisti and recent V85 TT convert — the company is boasting that it has built a tough, tractable machine for the “adventure” market, promising that the V85 TT is capable around town, comfortable on freeway tours and durable enough for off-road riding.
Ed Cook, who operates the AF1 Racing motorcycle shop in Austin, Texas, has had the V85 TT in stock for only 45 days, but he has sold half of the 16 he ordered from Moto Guzzi. He’s ordered 12 more.
“We had more pre-sales on this than any bike we’ve ever sold,” said Cook, who’s been selling Italian motorcycles at AF1 since 2001. “It’s a fresh new design, and a fresh new motor, and it’s a really good bike. Customers are excited about them.”
After a week of piloting a V85 TT around Northern Italy, I understood. Extremely easy to ride, the retro-styled new bike is a marvelous commuter machine and quite at home on the motorway.
The 850cc V-twin motor hums nicely, and at 80 horsepower and 59 pound-feet of torque pulls strongly and produces surprisingly little vibration. Over a series of Alpine riding days in June and July, the bike easily conquered the Spluga, Maloja, Julier, Fluela and Albula passes. Despite many long hours in the saddle, I was only eager for more.
A smooth six-speed gearbox and riding modes designed for road, rain and off-road situations made the most of the power, and the combination of a low seat height, low center of gravity and that V-twin engine contributed to the bike’s graceful handling.
In a few off-road excursions — the “TT” in the name stands for “tutto terreno,” or all terrain — I quickly learned two things: The V85 TT, with its stock tires, is happy on a dirt road or sandy trail but is no match for muddy Alpine meadows recently exposed by melting snow; and the bike, thanks to its V-twin engine construction and the rear luggage boxes my model was wearing, is pretty easy to pick up when rider expertise cannot keep it from tipping over.
Critics of the bikes will note that it doesn’t have the power or the build quality of its BMW, KTM, Triumph or Ducati counterparts. But at $11,990 for the stock V85 TT and $12,990 for the V85 TT Adventure model, the Moto Guzzis cost several thousand dollars less than those more established European competitors.
Mariotti and other Moto Guzzi officers hinted repeatedly during our Mandello visit that the all-new, air-cooled engine that powers the V85 TT will be the propulsion behind an entire new line of mid-size motorcycles.
That could work, but Moto Guzzi needs to improve its marketing and distribution game, said Robert Pandya, a veteran motorcycle industry executive who worked for several years for Piaggio’s Aprilia brand.
“Moto Guzzi’s brand reputation and their dealer base is pretty weak,” Pandya said. “If they are not actively committed to a being a part of the adventure riding world, on a consistent basis, for years to come, it’s going to be difficult for them to gain a foothold — no matter how good the bike is.”

The Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello can lay claim to a number of firsts
The first production motorcycle to offer active aeros
The first Moto Guzzi to feature semi-active suspension…an IMU…cornering ABS…quickshifter…liquid-cooling…
In as many ways that the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello ushers in the brand’s centenary birthday
it also announces Moto Guzzi’s arrival into the 21st century
Named after the brand’s storied factory
the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello still sports some vintage
The sport-touring segment is making a revival though
the Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello makes 115hp from its 1,042cc displacement
With four valves per cylinder, along with finger followers and a double overhead camshaft, the engine package is 103mm shorter than the recent V85 TT platform
Peak torque is rated at 77 lbs•ft (105 Nm)
with 90% of that figure available at 3,500 rpm. Drive to the rear wheel comes via a shaft drive
which runs alongside the aluminum swingarm
Moto Guzzi says that he drive shaft exit position is much lower with respect to previous Moto Guzzi engines
and thus does away with any suspension movement from the transfer of torque
The Italians say that this makes for a smooth ride during both acceleration and deceleration
on par to what one would find on a chain drive
but with the typical advantages of a shaft drive
there is a large and wide saddle for the rider and passenger
and the fuel tank is 4.6 gallons (17.5 liters)
Moto Guzzi is using adaptive air deflectors at the front of the bike’s fairing (near the fuel tank)
which extend to different degrees depending on the riding mode and speed of the bike
Öhlins semi-active suspension rounds out the techno-wizardry for the up-spec trim
though both trim levels offer a six-axis IMU
Four levels of traction control are also available as standard
all of which is controlled via a 5″ TFT dash
The up-spec Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello also includes a quickshifter
the Moto Guzzi’s multimedia connection package and smartphone connector

The bike is a tribute to one of the company’s founders
along with Giorgio Parodi and a mechanic called Carlo Guzzi
had agreed to dedicate their lives after the war to the construction of motorcycles
The eagle crest within the Moto Guzzi badge is a direct tribute to Ravelli
With this ingrained link to military aviation
it’s really no surprise to see Moto Guzzi offering this aviation-themed special edition into the mix
The bike will be limited to just 1913 examples and wears a dedicated livery which is inspired by the F-35B fighter jet's own paint scheme
The bike even features jet intake warning stripes around its moveable aerodynamic winglets
aping those found on the vertical take-off and landing fighter jet
V100 Mandello Aviazione Navale takes off Each bike will also come equipped with a tyre pressure monitoring system
a dedicated motorcycle cover and a commemorative plaque
while the individual serial number is laser engraved on the top yoke
the bike is only available in the Italian market

The newlyweds found themselves cruising down Lake Como
The water was glassy and the weather was perfect
and music provided the perfect backdrop to their Italian micro-wedding.
grew up in the same town in Washington State but didn't hang out
she said. Once they both moved to California in their twenties
they reconnected on social media and began dating in November 2019
They set the wedding date for September 14
and a $5,850 three-night stay at Villa Confalonieri in Mandello del Lario
Their choice of venue limited them to a very small guest list — they had 13 people in attendance
mostly consisting of family members and their partners
Even though they spent a little over $14,000
it was still quite affordable compared to a wedding in the US
Italian wedding planner Roberta Sabbatini told Insider that Lake Como is an incredibly expensive place
$9,000 is just enough to breathe the air there
Wilkinson also wanted an opportunity to travel
but she didn't have a specific idea in mind as she never dreamed about her wedding being a certain way
The villa could only accommodate 15 people
but I think most people were just excited for us and thought it was a great idea," she added
The 13 guests present on their big day included their parents
Wilkinson said she came across a 2017 Brides article about a couple's affordable elopement in Lake Como and became inspired.
She loved the couple in the article's wedding
Despite becoming engaged nine months before her wedding date
she said she knew they were going to get married and actually booked the villa a year before the wedding.
Savannah said she doesn't count their $2,400 flights as part of the cost of the wedding day as they also spent three weeks in Italy vacationing at the same time
"The process of actually legally getting married in Italy was a thing I did not want to try to do," she said.
The ceremony was held at Villa Confalonieri
which was the same hotel they were staying at
They also got a $600-a-night discount as they booked in the off-season
she said had a specific idea of what kind of dress she wanted — and it being strapless was not one of them.
I ended up going with the one I didn't think I'd want at all," she said
"I felt really beautiful," she told Insider
She spent $300 on a veil and add-on blouse sleeves
She said she didn't want two dresses as that seemed excessive and too expensive.
she wore a long cathedral-length veil and strapless dress during her ceremony
and took off the veil and added the sleeves after the ceremony
"It was kind of like an outfit change," she said
Her husband wore a custom $500 suit from Jos. A. Bank
The boat company said they would cancel if it got too windy
She spent the early afternoon getting ready and did her hair and makeup herself
She didn't have a first look with her husband
She walked down the stairs with her parents' back turned to her
"It was really just everything I had hoped for
they had a 50-minute photo session with Fabrizio Viganó
the newlyweds and guests walked through the beautiful town to the docks
locals realized it was a wedding and cheered them on
it hadn't rained and the boat ride was still on
The vibe was perfect and it was a really fun ride
and then the chef whipped up Hugo spritzes for them
They had a $150 chocolate cake decorated with florals. According to a TikTok Savannah shared on January 20
She said she had a colorful bouquet with hints of purple and a boutonniére for $150 and thought it was plenty
They also used the bouquet and trimmings from the villa for table decorations.
For anyone thinking of having an Italian wedding
she said she'd recommend giving yourself plenty of time to plan.
and I think it took Italians a little longer to get back to me," she said.
Wilkinson and Gilbert ended their wedding night on a high

the brand founded in 1921 in Mandello del Lario
the iconic V7 models (and others before them) immediately come to mind
with their traditional transverse V engines and that classic
The V100 Mandello S is a model that breaks with this paradigm and shows itself to be a modern and evolved motorcycle
I didn’t understand what was ahead of me and what segment it would fit into
the bike has futuristic and elegant lines that take those used to the brand’s most iconic models by surprise
a Roadster-Touring and although it initially tried to include it in the sport-touring range
the truth is that it makes much more sense to see it as a roadster with additional fairings and some “magic” in the mix…
It all starts with a reinforced tubular steel frame
lighter and more compact 1,042 cc engine is added as the bike’s structural element
The front is dominated by a Led headlight made up of several elements
with a modern and dynamic visual signature in which the daytime running light is reminiscent of the brand’s eagle
and an electronically adjustable head-up display via the controls on the left handle
it provides good aerodynamic protection and clean airflow
so as not to force the actuator mechanism too much
THE BEST AESTHETICS; ENGINE; SUSPENSIONS; LEVEL OF EQUIPMENT
IMPROVING ENGINE VIBRATIONS; EXHAUST PAN FINISH
follows the lines of the front fairing and wraps around the valve covers of each cylinder
It’s on the sides of this tank that some of the magic happens
variable deflector panels that are said to reduce the aerodynamic load on the rider’s body by 22%
The movement of these panels is automatic and can be adjusted (between 30 and 95 km/h) in the configuration menus for each of the 4 riding modes
making it the first production bike to feature movable aerodynamic elements
are managed or configured by the controls on the left handle
which are selected on a button on the right
The information is transmitted to us by a 5-inch color TFT display
which is well designed and offers excellent visibility
The rear is simplistic and ends with stylized LED headlights (thinking of the after-burners on military aircraft)
This is where we can find the fittings for the side luggage system that is part of the extensive catalog of accessories available for this model
The new engine from the Italian factory is a good showcase for the updating and innovation that Moto Guzzi intends to put into its future units
in which various mechanical elements have been relocated and sized to allow it to be placed at a lower point
improving the location of the center of gravity and consequently the dynamic behavior of the V100 S
There are more than a thousand cubic centimeters
capable of generating 115 Cv and a torque to make many other motorcycles jealous
This torque manages to push the whole assembly in any gear and at any rev range with surprising vigor
This is also helped by the well-staggered 6-speed gearbox and the bidirectional quickshifter (also a first for the Guzzi)
The ride-by-wire system allows the bike to be fully configured in 4 different maps
in order to adapt the response of the engine
suspension and adaptive aerodynamics to the needs of each moment
At the end of the power unit is a well-designed exhaust with a low
addictive sound that brings out the V100 S’s sporty side
It’s a shame that the exhaust pipe underneath the bike hasn’t been given any aesthetic attention
leaving a “clamshell” that stands out from all the design and build quality
A simple cover to match the manifolds would have made all the difference
The tried and tested Pirelli Angel GT2 (in 190 rear size) do the arduous and important task of keeping everything on the ground with distinction
the luxurious and effective Ohlïns suspension set-up makes everything look easy
The semi-active and fully adjustable Smart EC2.0 fork
together with the semi-active and adjustable TTX Smart EC2.0 rear monoshock
will delight anyone who rides this machine
All the settings are controlled electronically on the TFT (with the exception of the rear spring preload)
allowing us to have the best configuration available for each type of riding and road surface
and with the support of the information provided by the control unit
the set anticipates small adjustments depending on the driving we are doing and the reading of the road
even affecting the adjustment of the steering damper
with two 320 mm floating discs and four-piston calipers at the front and a 280 mm disc with two opposed-piston calipers
Both axles are equipped with cornering ABS
The feel on the adjustable lever with radial pump and on the pedal is progressive and yet powerful
heated grips and so on are all expressions and acronyms we’ve become accustomed to over the last few years
What we weren’t used to was seeing all these elements together on Moto Guzzi technical data sheets
I’d rather highlight a few that really deserve to be talked about
The TFT (very similar to the ones used by Aprilia) is very complete and well structured
and it’s easy to find the information you need
we interact with the menus and control all the other electronic elements
the level of the heated grips or even the windshield position adjustment
The great novelty is the retractable panels on the tank
These are electronically controlled and make this Moto Guzzi go down in history as the first production bike to use adaptive aerodynamic elements
but it’s sure to be a talking point when you present the bike to your friends
A brief word also for the cornering lights
which only illuminate “a little something”
The V100 S Mandello seems to me to be the Moto Guzzi of the future
suspension and equipment and innovates in terms of technology
and is now capable of competing shoulder to shoulder with the most modern motorcycles on the market
The riding position is good and allows you to cover a good few kilometers without too much fatigue
are sufficient to maintain high speeds in comfort and the Ohlïns suspensions are a clear asset on this model
The engine seems to be much stronger than the figures show
always able to push hard and with a very distinctive sound
It would be even better if there were no vibrations throughout the rev range
we managed a pleasing average of 5 liters per 100 kilometers
233 kg in running order is a slightly high figure
which is noticeable as soon as you take the bike off the side stand
but in motion it feels agile and maneuverable
The color scheme of our test unit is superb (personal opinion)
and there is also a black and grey version
but easily justifiable considering the level and quality of the equipment
You're looking at a landmark: La Galleria del Vento at Moto Guzzi headquarters in Mandello del Lario
represented the singular vision of Carlo Guzzi
the boardroom thought he'd gone mad; Guzzi's brother
had never seen a wind tunnel before drafting the blueprints
Based on an open-circuit “Eiffel style” layout
the womb-like main chamber stretched more than 88 feet long
(Moto Guzzi later upgraded to a larger closed-circuit configuration with an electric motor.) Rider and motorcycle were suspended on a pendulum
Fergus Anderson was among the first racers to test inside the tunnel
While the competition toiled in hypotheticals
Moto Guzzi breached the realm of empirical design
the company’s aero-focused Grand Prix effort unleashed a succession of iconic dustbin racers—including the famed 186-mph Guzzi V-8
Moto Guzzi's plant at Mandello del Lario will welcome the worldwide Guzzisti to an open house September 9 - 11
entertainment and tours of the factory and museum
will host the program for the 95th anniversary of the Italian brand
at once a celebration and the launch of a path that will lead toward the Moto Guzzi centennial in 2021
The celebration will give the 10,000-plus riders and their families who are expected to attend an unforgettable weekend
enhanced for this edition with a range of new initiatives
Always loved by historic fans and collectors
the Italian brand is these days winning the hearts of new and young riders
history and innovation with the values of authenticity and unique personality that are the Moto Guzzi heritage
The eagle marque is making a comeback as a protagonist
not only in Italy and historic markets such as Europe and the United States
but also in countries like China and India
The absolute star of the event will be the new Moto Guzzi MGX-21
featured recently at the 76th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
a luxurious bagger powered by the classic Moto Guzzi V-twin with a displacement of 1400cc

The program will continue in full swing until the afternoon of Sunday the 11th of September with the last tour of the plant scheduled for 5:30pm Then it will be time to bid one another farewell and the Guzzisti will get back on the road home
enriched with new memories and stories for their friends and families
then you might want to get busy planning your trip to Italy now
Moto Guzzi is proud to announce its 100th anniversary party
which will be held in Mandello del Lario (of course) from September 8 through 11
It’s the triumphant return of the Moto Guzzi Giornate Mondiali Guzzi (GMG)
That’s not all that’s happening over the course of that weekend
That second weekend in September will actually be a double-header of Guzzi goodness
because the Città Della Moto Guzzi International Motorcycle Rally will also be taking place at the same time
Double the Guzzi glory seems like a fitting way to celebrate a 100th birthday
Details for these events have yet to be announced as we’re writing this on May 18
2022—but we’re sure they’ll be posted closer to the event
Moto Guzzi simply wants all Guzzisti to save these dates and maybe think about making plans to attend
revealing an ambitious structure meant to help usher in the company’s second century.
Most fittingly of all, Guzzi also officially introduced the world to the V100 Mandello
1,042cc V-twin engine that makes a claimed 115 horsepower and 77.4 pound-feet of torque
Other trick bits include an Ohlins semi-active suspension
and an adaptive aerodynamics system.
Earlier in May, 2022, Guzzi also reopened its newly-renovated museum to the public
if you’re planning a trip for the 100th birthday party
maybe you can make some extra time to check it out as well.

29 May 2019 – Ewan McGregor is back on Moto Guzzi
The occasion was the advertising campaign for the worldwide launch of the new Moto Guzzi V85TT
the all-terrain model that takes the Italian brand into the segment of large enduro tourers
This isn’t the first time the Hollywood star
has associated his image and his reputation as a passionate biker with Moto Guzzi: the first chapter in this fortunate partnership dates back to 2013
when Ewan was the lead for the launch of the new California 1400
The relationship between Moto Guzzi and the Scottish actor is a genuine bond
stemming from McGregor’s love of motorcycles in general
and of Mandello del Lario bikes in particular
McGregor had already recounted his passion for Moto Guzzi in the road movie “Long Way Down” when he went to Mandello del Lario to visit Moto Guzzi for the first time
A few months later he was back in the area for the 2007 Moto Guzzi World Days
and rode back to London on his white California Vintage
Back to today and the unique relationship continues with Ewan McGregor now fronting the campaign for the launch of the Moto Guzzi V85TT
wanted to take out for a test ride on the road before taking up his role as the testimonial for the model
Adding to the appeal of the campaign production was the starting location for the actor’s journey on his V85TT
a gem in the splendid setting of southern Sardinia
A true haven of uncontaminated natural beauty
this corner of Sardinia offers stunning views over the sea
a unique environment that welcomed Ewan McGregor and his Moto Guzzi bike as he left and when he returned from his rides on the tarmac and dirt roads in this little patch of paradise
The photos of McGregor and his Moto Guzzi V85TT were taken by Paolo Zambaldi for The Ad Store Italia agency headed by Natalia Borri
which produced the campaign with art director Luca Eremo
In the two months since its arrival on the market
the V85TT is confirming the huge anticipation among bikers: more than 10,000 tests booked before the bike began shipping have been organised and requests continue to arrive on the Moto Guzzi website
All the European countries are involved in the trials; the markets leading the sales are Italy
where demand is exceeding the most optimistic forecasts
The Moto Guzzi V85 TT is a classic enduro tourer
delivering cutting-edge performance and technology in a two-wheeler offering the value-rich style and tradition of Moto Guzzi
The V85 TT is based on a new technical platform and powered by an original 80 hp
a transverse 90° V-twin with a unique construction design and riding sensation

I took the opportunity to have an...unofficial look round
Above: a V7 Racer sits perched atop a display installed for the brand's 90th birthday celebrations
Behind head-high gates of the relatively slick or
exterior and its modern signage is an eye opening look at a motorcycle manufacturer that’s spent the greater part of the last three or four decades in a decidedly unhealthy state
don’t think of what you see here as the slow decay of a once great brand
think of it as a transition between outmoded and modern
A fleet of freshly-produce Stelvios and Norges is crammed into a nook behind the engine development room
which combine classic character and modern performance
Piaggio’s first thought at seeing what you’re seeing in Mandello del Lario was that there was no way this facility or
could be made relevant to the 21st century
But after some soul searching (brought on partially by labor disputes with Mandello’s work force and the convoluted world of Italian industrial politics)
the Group now plans a significant revitalization for the brand
The old production line has been torn down and
behind the partial wall that’s been retained
they plan to install a completely modern production facility
That’ll help treble production volumes to something in the ballpark of 12,000 motorcycles a year in the near future
It’ll also help Guzzi further pursue its new rallying cry — quality
modern equipment and processes should further elevate Moto Guzzis into the realm of luxury goods
sticking with the 90-degree v-twins and shaft drive even while more power and less weight roll out in new platforms and new engines
but it once did and that’ll inform the direction of all future motorcycles produced there
