Wellington based Canadian Grand Prix rider Alexandra Duncan has imported the Oldenburg licensed stallion Elantic
He will be standing up for stud in the U.S.A
while owner Duncan produces him to Grand Prix Level
Elantic is a 6-year old Oldenburg stallion by Erdinger out of Bella Bella S (by Belantis x Samba Hit I x Rubinstein)
His paternal grand sire is former international Grand Prix horse Escolar
who also sired the highly popular Escamillo
Elantic was first licensed by the Mecklenburger breeding society at a private licensing at Sprehe's in Löningen in November 2022
He was then further approved for the Oldenburg and Westfalian breeding society in the early spring of 2021
Elantic did his 14-day suitability test in Neustadt Dosse in September 2021 scoring 8.30 for dressage and 7.75 for show jumping
He finished on a strong total of 8.08 score in a group of 34 participating stallions
He completed his mandatory sport test in March 2023 in Munich
scoring 8.15 for his dressage qualities and potential
Simone Citelli and Elantic in ItalyElantic was initially trained by the team at Gestut Sprehe and then moved to Italy
where he was first competed in the 6-year old FEI young horse tests by Simone Citelli
At their debut show they won both the preliminary and finals test with an 81% mark
Citelli showed the stallion twice more in the spring in the young horse classes
Elantic was developed under the supervision of Italian Grand Prix rider Nausicaa Maroni
The bay stallion has now begun the next chapter in his career in Wellington
in the training and care of new owner Alexandra Duncan
"I discovered him at Maroni's stable Il Cavallino in Italy and my goal is to develop him to Grand Prix," said Duncan
who is based at the Palm Beach Equine Sports complex
"I am very excited to have this young stallion available for US breeding and produce a top sport horse."
Duncan on McKenzy JHL (Photo © Amanda Horse Media)Elantic will be available next breeding season with frozen and fresh semen. He will stand at stud alongside Duncan's KWPN licensed stallion Mckenzy JHL (by Alexandro P x WV Saron)
whom Duncan imported last year and who did his first year of breeding in America in 2024
"My goal has been looking for stallions to have available for USA to introduce more accessibility for American breeders and access to top bloodlines," Alexandre explained
"Elantic is no stranger to top sport already with exceptional scores and marks for breeding."
Duncan has two further Grand Prix horses in training
King (by Lord Leatherdale x Ferro) and Illusionist M (by Charmeur x Vivaldi) as well as small tour horse Kopperfield C-Two (by Toto Jr x Ferro)
She has also expanded working with M&G stables
a show jumping facility run by Maria Gabrielli and Gracey Grainer

where work has been completed on the Madonna Enthroned Suckling the Child by Andrea Marone da Manerbio
a member of a family of artists with deep roots in Renaissance Brescia
was presented by Fondazione Brescia Musei and the Municipality of Brescia and was made possible thanks to the contribution of the company Ingegneri Progettisti e Affini
which offers tax benefits to those who make donations for culture
Fondazione Brescia Musei has integrated this opportunity into its initiatives to actively involve the public in the life and projects of the Museums
Now the restored work is on long display in the Museum’s itinerary
following a special unveiling during Mother’s Day
May 12.The fresco comes from the exterior of the small church of Saints Hippolytus and Cassian
where it was placed within a small masonry altar
also known as the "Madonna del Latte," has its roots in the 17th century
when the Brescian painter and art writer Francesco Paglia first mentioned it
The subject depicted is one of the most frequent in the Christian tradition: the Virgin
shows a welcoming gesture with her left hand
Only recently has the painting’s author been identified
part of a family of artists probably originally from Sebino but rooted in Brescia
showed a different orientation than the great artists of the period
taking his cue from cities such as Cremona
but also from the areas of the Lombard lakes as far as Canton Ticino
His models included artists such as Boccaccio Boccaccino and Galeazzo Campi of Cremona
to Bernardino Luini of the Milanese frescoes of San Maurizio at the Monastero Maggiore
These stylistic orientations are reflected in the Brescian frescoes as well
While the overall layout shows an archaic arrangement
with the angels in the upper register recalling the quasi-medieval style
it is the details that make the difference in terms of quality
and the golden inserts of the Virgin’s haloes and crown
was detached in 1878 by Brescian restorer Giuliano Volpi
This intervention involved removing not only the painted plaster
but also a significant portion of the masonry behind it
using a special extraction technique called stacco a massello
The restoration of Andrea Marone’s fresco was a rare occasion in the field of mural painting conservation
as interventions on stacco a massello are quite unusual
This complex and expensive extractive technique is generally reserved for artifacts of great artistic importance and value
the reasons for detaching a painting are mainly related to the situation of the building that houses it: structural instability
which has come down to us in a complex condition
showed severe damage caused by the presence of salts that caused cratering and pulverization of the painting’s surface
of remarkable artistic quality and skillfully executed
was executed on a thin layer of smooth and compact plaster made of lime and very fine aggregates
The good fresco drafts were complemented by valuable dry work
including traces of malachite and azurite for the Madonna’s mantle and the veil supported by the angels
combined with decorations in lean tempera and lacquer
Cleaning involved the removal of a dull gray layer consisting mainly of deposits of atmospheric particulates and smoke black
as well as heavily degraded animal glues and adhesives applied in previous interventions
due to the complex lived history of the fresco
the detachment operations and the subsequent interventions
there was an almost total loss of the valuable dry pictorial finishes
The surfaces were carefully examined using polarized light microscopy
with additional local checks under UV imaging
to refine knowledge of the execution techniques and accurately assess the quality and extent of the repainting and retouching interventions
The previous aesthetic repainting interventions were significantly altered
with numerous pigments subject to chromatic discoloration due to binder degradation
During the detachment and subsequent interventions
a large amount of glues of animal origin was used
which partially infiltrated the inner layers of the fresco
it was necessary to conduct a preliminary study of the surfaces from a microbiological point of view in order to plan appropriate biological treatment and subsequent conservation steps
Numerous swab surveys were carried out at different stages and analyzed by instrumental bioluminescence from luciferase
the fresco was carefully consolidated to ensure the cohesion of the color and its future preservation
Some plastering was carried out to repair the gaps present
followed by a lengthy intervention of punctual retouching in watercolor
This allowed the recovery of the overall legibility of the work
while maintaining evident signs of its complex past
“The work,” says Roberta D’Adda
Coordinator Sector Collections and Research Fondazione Brescia Musei
“came to us in a conservatively complex condition
The intervention presented a technical peculiarity related to the fact that it is a massello detachment
a fact not so frequent in the field of conservation of wall paintings
The essential support of restorer Massimiliano Lombardi gives us back a precious treasure.”
“I was pleased to choose to support the restoration of the work
which immediately struck me as a beautiful object,” says Marco Medeghini
of the fruit of one’s labor in a direct way toward Brescia Musei instead of dispersing it in the cauldron of general taxation feels useful
Because opening oneself to giving is still a mature experience of participation in social work that holds many joys
It is written ’he who gives is happier than he who receives.’ I wish everyone this experience.”
“With the restoration of this important fresco,” stresses Stefano Karadjov
“we enrich the exhibition itinerary of the Santa Giulia Museum by placing the new work in dialogue with the crucifixion of the mourners St
Jerome in the chapel of the Madonna of the basilica of San Salvatore and with the death of St
enlivened by the continuous research and enhancement activities of the conservation and promotion team of our splendid museum.”
“Today we celebrate a new example of generosity to society at large
from a citizen who demonstrates that he fully understands the role of community members in protecting and restoring the founding heritage of his own ’heritage community,’” highlights Francesca Bazoli
“And we also remember how important it is to recount the tools provided by our regulations
which make it possible to contribute to the work of the Foundation in the direction of the redevelopment of the Museums and the works of art of the civic Collections
while also obtaining a not insignificant tax benefit
Fondazione Brescia Musei’s gratitude
to engineer Marco Medeghini and the company Ingegneri Progettisti e Affini
as well as to restorer Massimiliano Lombardi
who allowed us to recover in an extraordinary way this small masterpiece belonging to the history of the Brescian community.”
“Thanks to the generous contribution of a firm of Brescian professionals
after 120 years our city will be able to rediscover a 16th-century masterpiece that has been an object of lively and profound devotion for centuries,” says Roberto Rossini
“Not only has the splendid fresco of the Madonna Enthroned Suckling the Child crowned by four angels by Andrea Marone da Manerbio been fully restored
but it will remain on display in the Santa Giulia Museum for a long time
I can only applaud this noble project that will allow the artistic and cultural heritage of Brescia to be enriched and
to appreciate a work of great value.”
often referred to as the "central bank" of the Vatican
Bishop Nunzio Galantino's five-year term as president of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See (APSA) came to an end in August
and his successor is none other than Father Giordano Piccinotti
a Salesian priest who has been serving as an undersecretary since January
Father Giordano Piccinotti's appointment as president of APSA is noteworthy as he becomes the first non-bishop or non-cardinal to hold this position
Piccinotti has a strong background within the Salesian community
He made his perpetual profession in the Salesian Society of St
John Bosco in 2004 and was ordained as a priest on June 17
he holds a License in Spiritual Theology from the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome
Piccinotti's previous roles include serving as an economist for Salesian houses in Lugano from 2007 to 2011 and from 2016 to 2017
He also managed financial matters at "San Carlo" in Milan from 2011 to 2015 and held the position of Provincial Economist from 2011 to 2017
His extensive experience also extends to directorship roles in various Salesian foundations
including the "Fondazione Opera Don Bosco nel Mondo" in Lugano
and the "Fondazione Istituto Elvetico Opera Don Bosco" in Lugano
He has been an Executive Director at the "Fondazione Opera Don Bosco onlus" in Milan
and a Member of the Council at the "Stiftung Don Bosco in Der Welt" in Schaan
Piccinotti has also served as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the NGO "Volontariato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo" (VIS)
The appointment of Don Giordano Piccinotti marks a significant transition for APSA
the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See
Traditionally responsible for managing the Vatican's financial assets and properties
it has taken on roles akin to both a central bank and a sovereign investment fund
particularly following the economic reforms initiated by the Vatican
APSA's functions mirror those of a central bank
includes a sub-secretary and a management control executive
The institution employs approximately 95 permanent staff members
supplemented by around ten temporary collaborators
APSA's portfolio comprises numerous real estate properties
covering an extensive commercial area of approximately 1.47 million square meters
APSA has chosen to invest in real estate properties both within Italy and internationally
a strategy attributed to reduced exposure to exchange rate fluctuations and geographic diversification of investments
APSA manages its foreign properties through wholly-owned companies that are 100% controlled by APSA
These include British Grolux Investment Limited in the UK
also established in 1932; and Profima SA in Switzerland
which was founded in 1933 and underwent a consolidation in 2019 by merging ten real estate management companies to optimize costs
Father Giordano Piccinotti's appointment concludes Bishop Nunzio Galantino's five-year tenure at APSA
which saw significant reforms aimed at streamlining and professionalizing the administration
this period also witnessed the appointment of the first lay secretary
tasked with overseeing these transformative changes

When Federico Bonazzoli emerged from the Inter youth academy
he was considered to be another Italian forward with a bright future
The former Italy youth international has not established himself as a prolific striker but he has produced moments of quality that can convince coaches and football fans that he is a complete forward with both great physique and technical ability
Although 2020 will be a year many will want to forget
it was a calendar year in which Bonazzoli showed that he is capable of being a successful forward in Serie A
displaying both individual brilliance as well as the ability to play for the team
The 23-year-old from Manerbio in the province of Brescia in northern Italy joined Torino on loan from Sampdoria in October and the 2020/21 campaign has been a struggle for the Granata so far but they do have a player who can be the perfect foil for captain and talisman Andrea Belotti
Bonazzoli was purchased by Sampdoria from Inter in February 2015 for €4.5 million and remained with the Nerazzurri for the remainder of the 2014/15 season
He had scored 27 goals in 35 competitive games for the Inter Primavera squad
and he won the 2015 Viareggio Cup with the Under-19 side
finishing the tournament as the leading goalscorer and being named the best player
An attacker who can play as either a center-forward or a support striker
the 23-year-old has excellent ball control
Despite his brilliance with the Inter youth team and also winning multiple caps for Italy at youth level
Bonazzoli had trouble finding his feet as a professional footballer
Sampdoria sent him on loan to Virtus Lanciano
and SPAL over the years but he failed to make an impact at those clubs
He spent the 2018/19 campaign on loan again
The Biancoscudati finished second last and returned to the Italian third division
it was his best season so far playing professionally
Bonazzoli scored eight goals in 35 league matches – finishing as the club’s leading goalscorer – and provided three assists
Sampdoria decided not to send him on loan again and he remained with the Blucerchiati for the 2019/20 campaign
New coach Eusebio Di Francesco only used him once in the first four Serie A matches but he scored his first goal for Il Doria in the 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina after coming on as a half-time substitute
Bonazzoli played in the next two matches but Di Francesco was sacked after the 2-0 defeat away to Hellas Verona and was replaced by Claudio Ranieri
‘The Tinkerman’ sparingly used the former Inter youngster
and the forward came off after 13 minutes in the 0-0 draw against Atalanta
missing all of December with a thigh strain
Playing opportunities remained few and far between for the 23-year-old until football resumed in June 2020 after the lockdown due to COVID-19
He scored another consolation goal in the 2-1 defeat to Bologna in Round 28 and then he featured in the first half in the 2-1 victory away to Lecce in the following game
Ranieri left him on the bench for the next two matches but suddenly Bonazzoli hit a purple patch
The forward replaced the injured Gastón Ramírez at half-time against Udinese and posed a danger when he came on
With six minutes remaining and the scores at 1-1
a cross came from the left and the Zebrette defense failed to clear the ball properly
the Samp forward executed a bicycle kick with his left foot
giving Friulani goalkeeper Juan Musso little hope of saving it
Manolo Gabbiadini scored the third goal to seal a 3-1 victory for Il Doria
but there was no doubt that Bonazzoli was the best of the three
even with the evergreen Fabio Quagliarella scoring a stunning volley of his own
Bonazzoli started with Gabbiadini in the next Serie A game against Cagliari
Gabbiadini opened the scoring with a header and then Bonazzoli netted a double
For the first goal from the Manerbio native
Isolani midfielder Artur Ioniță was dispossessed and the ball was played to the feet of the Doriani striker
He sprinted towards goal as Sardi defender Fabio Pisacane was running back
but before the Cagliari captain could put a challenge in
Bonazzoli unleashed a shot from outside of the penalty area
and Goalkeeper Alessio Cragno could not stop the ball from going in despite guessing the right way
his second goal against the Isolani was breathtaking
Jakub Jankto produced a cross from the left-wing that was going towards the far post
and Bonazzoli acrobatically leaped into the air
then deflected the ball into the net by using the outside of his left boot
he was relegated to the bench for the next game against Parma
but the Blucerchiati were 2-0 down at half-time and once again
he was brought on after the break to replace Ramírez
He had his back to goal when he received a pass from Jankto and then he passed the ball to Quagliarella
and struck the ball past Ducali goalkeeper Luigi Sepe
Bonazzoli finished the 2019/20 Serie A season with six goals in 19 games
but it was his form after the league postponement
especially that run of four goals in just three matches
Although he started the 2020/21 campaign at Samp and provided an assist in the 3-2 defeat to Benevento
he was sent on loan to Torino with an obligation to be bought outright
It was a surprising move considering that he had made some leaps as a player in the previous season but also new Granata tactician Marco Giampaolo had barely given him a chance to prove himself while he was coaching the Blucerchiati
Bonazzoli made his league debut for Toro in the 3-2 defeat to Cagliari in Round 4
assisting in Andrea Belotti’s second goal of the game
but he was surprisingly left on the bench for the next game
Giampaolo would pair Belotti up with Simone Verdi in the next few matches but the Torino coach has moved away from his preferred 4-3-1-2 formation and used the 3-5-2 from Round 8 onwards
the tactician would start Simone Zaza beside Belotti as he did in the opening two rounds
The results haven’t been forthcoming but the Granata came so close against Udinese
Bonazzoli came on at half-time for Zaza and the Friulani went 2-0 up after 54 minutes but the former Sampdoria forward turned the match around in the space of a minute
Zebrette defender Samir was dispossessed by the Toro forward
who slid in to divert the ball into the net with his left foot
Belotti returned the favour by back-heeling the ball to Bonazzoli
He turned past Samir and side-footed his shot into the back of the net
Ilija Nestorovski scored the winner in the 67th minute
and the 3-2 defeat left the Granata languishing in the relegation zone
the Manerbio native showed what he could do when given the opportunity to do so
Torino has struggled to find its identity under Giampaolo
he has had to revert to using a three-man defense like his predecessors did
and he has also failed to find the right partner for Belotti in attack
If he gave Bonazzoli more stability and confidence up front
perhaps the 23-year-old could develop some consistency and the Granata could start obtaining results
With his ability to score goals out of nothing and turn games around
who knows how his partnership with Belotti can develop and how much he can improve as a player

Exiting the Manerbio exit and driving a few kilometers west
you'll come across a charming farmhouse in the Brescia countryside
You might expect to stop for a delicious platter of salami or a traditional local dish paired with a good glass of red wine
a restaurateur with three decades of experience
chose this former trattoria in 2021 to showcase the most authentic Japanese cuisine
Luca has always had an innate passion for ethnic cuisine
bringing the essence of the Land of the Rising Sun to Siseroshi
The pivotal moment was Luca's encounter with Vitaly Dovbenko during the pandemic
Luca thought of adding sushi options to Cicero's takeout menu
born in 1992 in Ukraine but raised in Italy
developed a fascination for Japanese cuisine during his studies at the Sraffa Hotel Institute in Crema
where he immersed himself in the millennia-old culinary traditions of the country
working alongside Japanese chefs like Hitoschi Toshisa and Naoyuki Kuwana
The meeting with Vitaly made Luca realize how often Japanese gastronomic culture in Italy is misrepresented and watered down to not scare away diners
Many are the errors and misconceptions that most "so-called Japanese" restaurants carry with them: in the Pacific Island nation
and uramaki is not a product of the local culture
This is where Luca's desire was born to open an inn in his homeland that serves the most authentic Japanese cuisine
"I am convinced that Japanese cuisine is not just about sushi or tempura
It's a wonderful world of ingredient combinations
preserving it from the confusion in a jungle of misleading and distorted messages," Luca explains
The mission is truly challenging and brave
It's a challenge that Luca and Vitaly approach with enthusiasm and determination
with the aim of making people understand that food in Japan is a custodian and synonym for history and seasonality
"Moritsuke" is the term that refers to the Japanese art of plating
Luca has recreated the atmosphere of the "ryokan," the typical Japanese inns
aiming to make every detail express the concept of hospitality and courtesy
with soft colors alternating with the vibrant red of the Japanese flag
and porcelain and other details unmistakably evoke Japanese culture
you breathe in the deepest Japan - rich in history and rigor
is the perfect actor on the stage of the Land of the Rising Sun
and red lanterns and a character on the solid wooden door serve as a prelude for those arriving at Siseroshi
the striking scarlet counter on the left immediately catches the eye
where eight diners each evening opt for the Omakase experience
the large winter garden windows host the tables for the KAISEKI experience
and savor traditional Japanese cuisine dishes together
and the chefs' experience," explains owner Luca Imberti
those who come to Siseroshi won't be disappointed; they'll be enchanted by the exceptional quality of the ingredients and the extreme attention to seasonality
the counter turns into a "dreamlike place where you surrender to the chef's precise pampering to taste dishes elaborated vis-à-vis with the best seafood ingredients
an explosion of sensations," Imberti continues
'Omakase' means 'I trust you'; so those who sit at Siseroshi's counter entrust themselves to Vitaly's skillful hands and expert technique for a fifteen-course journey where the keywords are balance
a mackerel carpaccio marinated in rice vinegar
seared with charcoal in front of the diners
yuzu sauce (a very intense and flavorful Japanese citrus)
currants marinated in mirin (a sweet sake) resting on shiso leaves
is the first step into the world of Japanese cuisine
the meatiness of the mackerel and its masterful cut stand out
anticipating the explosion of savor and smokiness
balanced by the acidity of currants marinated in mirin
and sweet flavors prepare for the next course: Kani no tempura
soft-shell crab is fried in a rice flour tempura; at the bottom
there is a datterino sauce and sakura eni - small
very flavorful Japanese shrimps - sesame oil
The crunchiness of the tempura encases the sweetness of the crab meat; each bite marks the alternation of textures
and consistencies of an extremely tasty and refined dish
a Japanese chemist who first discovered it in kombu seaweed broth - continues with the Sashimi of purple centrophorus
While waiting to savor the white meat of the centrophorus
one is captivated by Vitaly's skill in handling the Yanagiba
the tradition of knives dates back to when samurais used them as weapons of war
their production has become a symbol of Japanese craftsmanship
The cut is a focal point of Japanese cuisine
and watching Vitaly fillet the freshest fish underscores the intensity and importance of even the smallest details
the chef presents the purple centrophorus - a fish that inhabits depths between 400 and 800 meters - in two versions: the well-known sashimi and another where the meat is carved and seared
dressed with a drop of extra virgin olive oil and sansho pepper (a Japanese pepper with a citrusy aftertaste)
with the red variety being more flavorful and intense than the green one
The common thread remains the meat's richness and intensity
one of the "chinmi," or rare and unusual delicacies
The liver is steamed with sake; at the base
The typical tea bowl in which the Chawanmushi is served delves even further into Japanese culinary tradition
Vitaly presents the Japanese savory egg custard with shiitake mushrooms and sweet shrimp
It's a dish with a texture as comforting as velvet
with each spoonful revealing the intense flavor of shiitake or the sweetness of the shrimp
Vitaly begins preparing the seven nigiri that continue the umami dance
"Nigiri" means "two fingers," indicating how to enjoy these "rice and fish bites": they should be picked up with two fingers and eaten in one bite
strictly upside down to let the fish make contact with the taste buds
the chef places fresh ginger marinated in rice vinegar
creating a thoughtful break between each nigiri
The journey continues with red mullet nigiri with oroshisioga
The experience proceeds with Normandy blue prawn starring in the Temaki Aoi Ebi
and yuzu kosho sauce on a sheet of nori seaweed
It's up to the diner to wrap the Temaki and eat it with their hands
as Dovbenko suggests because Omakase is all about entrusting yourself to the chef and following their guidance
The small bowl serving the Ikura Don is a deep dive into the abyss
accompanied by sea urchin (but when it's not in season
The combination of the savory and unique texture of ikura with the bold
briny flavor of goose barnacle is a true delight
there's the warm indulgence of Asari no Miso-Shiro: a soybean miso soup with white seaweed
this broth maintains a strong and robust character in which umami is expressed at the highest levels
The only sweet course on the omakase menu is the Matcha keki
a delicate matcha tea cake that brings the tasting experience to a close
before the second half of the 19th century (when sugar became accessible to everyone)
the main ingredients for desserts were rice
it's not just the food that tells the story of the Land of the Rising Sun; every small detail and every single gesture do so
just like the origami that Luca and Vitaly have chosen to give to anyone who visits them
"Giving an origami has great importance: it means dedicating your Time to the recipient
in the spirit of meditation and slowness..

“We all wish him the most sincere wishes for the new and important task that he has been given.”
Under the leadership of Andrea and Carlo Battagliola
the cousins who now run the company started by their fathers Giuseppe and Domenico in 1991
the group is aiming for “lasting” success based on strategic growth at a European level
The size and complexity of La Linea Verde as a business on the one hand
and the need to think about the future on the other
have apparently prompted its top management to hand over more responsibility to the family’s young members
and with an eye on ensuring a smooth generational transition
it is adopting a system of governance that gives the board of directors a more central role in the running of the business
The appointment will also enable Giuseppe Battagliola to pursue a number of new personal projects
“This is one of those changes that typify our DNA,” added Domenico Battagliola
an integral part of our development strategy
stems from a desire to always stay in the game
“Change is a positive and necessary evolution to always be one step ahead
It is an expression of our motto 'Change to grow' and the aim is to do our best in facing future challenges as a solid and cohesive team.”
