Dallas, Jan. 22, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Maranello
announced its plans for Texas’ first facility designed exclusively for sports car owners with indoor facing garage condos
conceived by Dallas real estate developer and motorsports enthusiast Michael Holigan
aims to provide an unparalleled experience for luxury sports car owners united by a passion for racing and collecting cars and motorcycles
The venue will be open year-round to its members and host car shows and special events
Located in Plano at the Northeast corner of Ohio Drive and Maple Shade Lane
the 200,000-square-foot facility will sit on more than 11 acres of land
This prime location is just 20 minutes from Highland Park
Construction of the luxury space will break ground in the coming months and is expected to be fully operational by the spring of 2026
“There is nothing like this in Texas,” says Michael Holigan
“Garage condo owners will drive into the building to access their garages
With all the garages facing into the building
members can visit with other collectors year-round as weather is never a factor
We’re creating a lifestyle destination where serious car collectors can bond and build a true community.”
The luxury auto garage will feature 79 garage condos
from 1,000 to 2,000 square feet in size on the first floor
Each condo includes a steel mezzanine and stairs with full utilities allowing owners the ability to build out their dream garage
Each garage condo will feature app-controlled HVAC and glass garage doors that open into the facility’s interior
The facility is designed with a 13,000 square foot two-story lounge and a 60,000 square foot open air concurso located in the middle of the building for both public and private events
“This will be the premier location for car shows in Texas,” states Holigan
planned to be a best-in-class facility for car enthusiasts
begin construction here in Plano,” says City of Plano Mayor John B
“Holigan and his team have been great to work with and his vision aligns with what we want to offer businesses
“There are many high-end sports car collectors in DFW,” says Holigan
“Maranello is creating a community for car enthusiasts in a building specifically designed for them
We’ve considered what it takes for a great experience to showcase and protect a collection of treasured vehicles and host nationwide premier automotive events here in North Texas.”

Ferrari has just unveiled a special and more extreme version of its rear-wheel-drive
The 296 Speciale increases the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6’s boost pressure, pushing the engine from 654 hp to 691 hp and from 546 lb-ft of torque to 557 lb-ft. Reinforced pistons and titanium connecting rods from the new F80 flagship were necessary in the process
Meanwhile, the electric motor gets a boost from 164 hp to 178 hp thanks to improved cooling (torque remains at 232 lb-ft). All in all, the system's combined output is no longer 819 hp as in the 296 GTB, but rather 868 hp, making the new 296 Speciale the most powerful rear-wheel-drive Ferrari in history. Yes, even ahead of the V12-powered 12Cilindri
Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is thus a tenth of a second quicker at 2.8 seconds
Ferrari says the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission’s shift times are about a third shorter and total weight is down by 132 lbs (60 kg) compared with the lightest 296 GTB
is derived from the 296 Challenge race car
Small air intakes near the headlights cool the front brakes
while the radiator openings are 12-percent larger
The underbody and rear diffuser of the 296 Speciale have been redesigned to improve airflow
you’ll find what Ferrari calls new “Gamma” wings in the corners
The main spoiler deploys actively in half a second and up to 2.75 inches (7 cm) when required
downforce is increased by 20 percent over the 296 GTB and now amounts to 959 lbs (435 kg) at a speed of 250 km/h
15 percent stiffer springs and larger stabilizer bars
not to mention expanded use of carbon fibre
The wheels have the same 20-inch size but are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires
Ferrari expects to deliver the first units of its 296 Speciale in North America during the first quarter of 2026

Ferrari’s Struggle in Miami: Vasseur Admits to Costly Errors
In a shocking turn of events at the Miami Qualifying Sprint
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc fell short by three tenths behind the impressive Andrea Kimi Antonelli
leaving the Scuderia struggling to keep up with the competition
Despite Leclerc managing to secure sixth place ahead of Hamilton
the gap of 326 milliseconds to Antonelli was a hard pill to swallow
Team principal Frederic Vasseur didn’t mince his words when addressing Ferrari’s disappointing performance
citing costly errors and struggles with balance as the main culprits
“We are having a hard time putting it all together and we are still making mistakes
We struggle with balance and pay the price for it because as soon as we make small mistakes
we overheat the tires and lose everything.”
posed significant difficulties for both Leclerc and Hamilton
“We lose a bit more in the low-speed corners
we have an issue with the car at the beginning of this sequence
Leclerc expressed his frustration with track position during his SQ3 attempt
The track temperature will be one of the keys
and then the tire degradation will also come into play.”
As Ferrari grapples with their performance in Miami
the pressure is on to address their mistakes and find the competitive edge needed to secure better results in the upcoming races

Ferrari 296 Speciale - front Challenge Stradale, Scuderia, Speciale, Pista. What name would come next in Ferrari’s lineage of lightened
The first in its illustrious lineage of hardcore specials to feature a hybrid powertrain
it’s had the wick turned up significantly from the base 296
the engine and boost management have been taken from the 296 Challenge racer
reinforced pistons and a lightened crankshaft
Ferrari 296 Speciale - rear All that ups the combustion engine’s power by 36bhp to 690bhp
Combined with the new ‘extra boost’ mode for the electric motor
making the Speciale the most powerful rear-wheel drive road car Ferrari’s ever made
That results in unsurprisingly brutal performance: 0-62mph takes 2.8 seconds
it’ll still do a quoted 16 miles on electric power only
which we’re sure all the Speciale’s owners will be taking full advantage of
Ferrari 296 Speciale - rear To keep all this in check
the Speciale makes 435kg of downforce at 155mph
Contributing to this is a new ‘aero damper’ on the bonnet
vertical fins on the rear bumper that sprout upwards into extra downforce-generating side wings
They work side-by-side with the deployable rear spoiler
which halves the time taken to go from low- to high-drag setups thanks to a new actuator
and also gets a new medium-drag setup for high-speed stability
Ferrari 296 Speciale - front See alsoAbt Unveils Audi Quattro Restomod With 523bhp 60kg has been shed from the standard car for a 1410kg dry weight
thanks to new carbon fibre panels and titanium engine components
Ferrari’s thrown the latest version of its ABS Evo braking system at the car for greater braking precision and longer life on track
The Speciale also sits 5mm lower than the GTB on revised spring and damper settings
reducing the maximum roll angle by 13 per cent
and it rides on a set of bespoke Michelin PS Cup2 tyres
Ferrari 296 Speciale - interior As is tradition with the hardcore Ferraris
swapping leather for carbon fibre and Alcantara
The door cards are now made from a single block of carbon
and the central tunnel is made entirely from it
and if you want just a little bit more theatre from your 868bhp lightweight Ferrari
Despite weighing slightly more at 1490kg dry
the drop-top will match the coupe to 62mph and only lose three tenths on the sprint to 124mph
the 296 Speciale isn’t strictly a ‘limited-edition’ model
you’ll need to be pretty cosy with Ferrari already to secure an allocation
you’ll need to stump up at least €407,000 (around £346,000) for the coupe
and €462,000 (around £393,000) for the drop-top

The new car will have a price tag in Italy of 407,000 euros ($449,000)

Prices will be higher in the United States by an amount still to be defined

Clients who have interacted with an official Ferrari dealer in the past five years will have priority in placing orders
its exclusivity will be preserved by keeping its life cycle shorter than the four-to-five years typical for other Ferrari models
breaking its tradition of roaring petrol engines
"It will be something completely different

has unveiled its take on the Range Rover Classic
with prices starting at €280,000 (about $309,000 at current rates) before you even think about adding extras

The company is being led by three local entrepreneurs and
it says that it already boasts a staff of 100 and five production sites
Work on its debut project is still ongoing
Vinile is teasing the finished product through a series of digital renderings
the goal here is to enhance performance and bring in high-end materials and tech without erasing the original vehicle’s character
Vinile says its Range Rover models will be available with the original 3.5-liter
although all will be updated and will produce around 200 hp
Vinile hasn’t made any mention of whether it will completely strip back the SUV to the original chassis and completely rebuild it
What we do know is that it will craft new body panels for the iconic British 4×4 and add new grilles
and 16-inch aftermarket wheels clad in 245/70 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires
So, if you own the original Range Rover and still cherish it despite its age but would like to have modern amenities and a luxurious interior, and can afford to splurge more than 300 grand, Vinile will be more than happy to hear from you. Then again, maybe for that kind of money you’d rather go for something much more exotic like a brand-spanking new Ferrari
already have a supercar or two in your garage for pure driving thrills
aiming to replicate the feel and comfort of a lounge
There will also be a solid-milled center console and burl wood on the door trims
as well as switchgear inspired by helicopters and an area in the dashboard that can hold the owner’s watch
Perhaps the standout feature of the Range Rover Classic’s revised cabin is the free-standing 10.1-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
Each example will come equipped with a custom audio system using two subwoofers
if the original Range Rover still pulls at your enthusiast heartstrings but you’re after the kind of refinement and comfort no stock ’80s SUV could ever deliver
this isn’t aimed at casual nostalgists
it’s more likely to appeal to collectors with a supercar or two already in rotation
possibly incurable love for classic Land Rovers

ITALY - JANUARY 20: Sir Lewis Hamilton greets fans during his first official days ..
More as a Scuderia Ferrari F1 driver at Fiorano Circuit on January 20
as the seven-time world champion paid a visit to Scuderia’s F1 factory on his first day with the team
It’s been almost a year since Hamilton announced he would be leaving Mercedes at the end of the 2024 season
bringing an end to what has been the longest and most successful team-driver partnership in the history of Formula 1
While fans will have to wait until March to see Hamilton race for Ferrari for the first time
the F1 icon will be busy with several pre-season activities in Maranello
Hamilton arrived at Scuderia Ferrari’s headquarters at Via Enzo Ferrari 27 before making his way to the Fiorano track
he was greeted by his new team principal Fred Vasseur and Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna
The weather was perfectly suited to the Brit’s taste
featuring some classic British overcast skies accompanied by a light drizzle that made him feel right at home
Hamilton then posed for the traditional “first day” photo alongside his favorite supercar
His visit included a tour of the Fiorano house and the pit garage
where Vasseur and Vigna guided him through the office that once belonged to the late Enzo Ferrari
giving him a glimpse into how the legendary founder monitored his team’s work
Hamilton returned to the headquarters to meet with team management and Piero Ferrari
He then continued his “immersion program,” exploring various departments to get acquainted with the Ferrari team
“Day one. I’m grateful to John Elkann, Benedetto Vigna and Fred Vasseur for their trust in me and making me part of this family,” said Hamilton in an Instagram post
“I’m so excited to start this new era and to meet and work with a hugely talented and inspiring group of people
“I’m dedicated to bringing everything I have to deliver for the team
The Maranello squad confirmed that Hamilton’s activities would carry on the next day with additional technical meetings and briefings
After making his first appearance with the Scuderia
Hamilton shared a photo of himself on social media outside the Ferrari building
This might have been a subtle nod to his seven world championships and the ‘door’ that may lead to an eighth
“There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever and today, my first as a Ferrari driver, is one of those days,” Hamilton captioned his Instagram post
“I’ve been lucky enough to have achieved things in my career I never thought possible
but part of me has always held on to that dream of racing in red
I couldn’t be happier to realise that dream today
“Today we start a new era in the history of this iconic team
and I can’t wait to see what story we will write together.”
Having celebrated his 40th birthday earlier in January
Lewis Hamilton is set to drive a Ferrari F1 car for the first time later this week
with plans for some testing in their 2023 model at the Fiorano circuit
He will then don those iconic red overalls at the F1 season launch on February 18
followed by a trip back to Italy for their own media event the next day
Pre-season testing kicks off on February 26 in Bahrain
leading up to the first race of the 2025 calendar on March 16 in Melbourne

It's a very special place, Fiorano. So special, Enzo's old office remains on the grounds just beside the circuit itself in timewarp status; a reminder the Big Man wanted a special place in the world away from prying eyes to hone his cars to perfection.
Each Ferrari must master this figure-of-eight circuit before being sent out into the world, and each Ferrari has a Fiorano lap time - an indication of where it stands in the hierarchy.
So, we've rounded up the fastest road-going Ferraris to lap Fiorano, taking in lots of rather special stuff including such hits as the Enzo, F430 and even the Testarossa...

Multi-award-winning International Automotive JournalistFollow AuthorSep 10
09:18am EDTShareSaveComment2000 Ferrari 550 Maranello
Despite a mid-engined supercar boom in the ‘90s which bore the likes of the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR
Ferrari was resolutely committed to a front-engined setup
In 1996 the 550 Maranello broke cover for the first time at the Nürburgring where it was driven around the track by F1 legends Michael Schumacher
Ferrari perfected its front-engined V12 recipe to make the 550 Maranello quicker
This included 33 limited edition “World Record” models that were made in celebration of the World Speed Records set at Marysville in 1998
A 550 Maranello set three production road car records
covering 100 km with an average speed of 188.9 mph
traveling for 100 miles at an average speed of 192.6 mph
and covering 184.2 miles in an hour despite needing to stop for fuel
Given its record breaking credentials you expect the 550 Maranello to knock the wind out of you
it’s a surprisingly comfortable grand tourer
That’s not to say it doesn't deliver a spine-tingling amount of power but you could drive for thousands of miles and never be uncomfortable
The gated gearbox is a novelty feature that takes a while to get used to
The clutch is fairly heavy so you have to be assertive before you push it into gear
First and second gear are easy to find but the jump across to third takes a bit of practice to perfect
At the start of my journey there was a lot of metal-on-metal sound as I clunked past the gate to try and find the next position
By the end I was hopeful that if I owned a 550 Maranello
I wouldn’t completely destroy its beautifully gated plate in the first week
While the 550 disguises itself as a GT most of the time
Each gear has an impressive amount of range and the transition from first to second gear unleashes a new level of power
As you listen to the revs rise everything seems to stiffen up and become more solid – a reassuring nudge to keep pushing the car to its limits
It takes a lot of nerve and a lengthy bit of straight road to really appreciate its force
The V12 kicks out a gorgeous roar and its front position is definitely noticeable
the front end feels weighty as it pulls you along
which is unlike the vast majority of other cars in this segment
that usually position pulsating engines right behind your head
The front-mounted V12 gives the 550 Maranello an unexpected amount of character that you wouldn’t expect to make that much of an impact on the driving experience
Rear view of the 550 Maranello with its quad exhausts
Most cars of this caliber are made for track days and short bursts of fun but the 550 Maranello seems eager to keep going
It’s decidedly unphased about traveling at high speeds for extended periods of time and
it’s disappointed in you when you don’t take it out for a 200 mile trip
Few cars have such cultural connections to their roots but the 550 Maranello screams out to be reunited with its native Italy where it can traverse the length of the country without breaking a sweat
Now the 550 Maranello is in modern classic territory
it's refreshingly analogue compared to the array of screens we see in new cars
Its electric functionality is limited to three tiny displays between the speedo and rev counter
These show exterior temperature and when Sport mode is engaged
The center console hasn’t aged quite as gracefully since it has some plasticy dials for the climate control and a row of buttons which are notoriously sticky
The seats are supremely comfortable and even sat low to the ground
there’s very little vibration or harsh feedback coming up from the road
The interior layout is easy to get used to and even though it’s fitted with a radio
it would rarely ever cross your mind to turn it on unless you’re traveling for a particularly long time
the cabin is incredibly spacious with a large parcel shelf to store luggage
When the 550 Maranello was new it would have cost around $188,000 which would be significantly more in today’s money
It’s one of those classics that saw a dip in prices around 10 years ago when you could have picked one up for less than $80,000
the 550 has appreciated quite substantially
Depending on whether you want a World Speed Record special edition or a standard model
prices typically range from around $120,000 to $300,000

► Aston Martin DBX S revealed► More power than a 707; less weight► The new flagship DBX model
The curious case of SUV one-upmanship continues as Aston Martin launches its new DBX S flagship. With 717bhp, the new all-out SUV manages to be ever-so-slightly more powerful than a Ferrari Purosangue
Aston Martin says the DBX S is the latest in a long line of S cars which started with the DB3 S in 1953
the new performance SUV sounds like a tasty mix to take on the Ferrari
The power boost has been achieved by using Valhalla-spec turbo upgrades including a larger compressor wheel diameter to squeeze out that extra shove over a DBX 707 – already an incredibly fast SUV
The new DBX S sprints to 62mph in 3.3 seconds and tops out at an unchanged 193mph
Aston says it’s shed up to a total of 47kg – with optional lightweight packages making up the most of that
shaves off 18kg while another 19kg can be removed by choosing the optional magnesium wheels
Carbonfibre body panels and a rear wing can remove 7kg
S models are spotted by vertically-stacked exhaust pipes
and you can spec a bespoke S livery that trims the lower edges of the car
The new DBX S model marks the start of new(ish) boss Adrian Hallmark’s intentions for Aston Martin to make more variants and editions of its cars
He says it ‘sends a powerful statement of intent about our ambitions not just for DBX
with the first deliveries coming towards the end of 2025

Home/NewsWe visited the automotive fantasyland that is Ferrari's Maranello factory complexWho gets inside the gates of this Willy Wonka retreat for car nuts
sponsors and partners – plus your humble auto journalist
What you see inside will take your breath away
Is visiting the Ferrari factory a bit like stepping inside Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory had he made cars
Or is it more akin to striding into the Vatican if the Pope was a leader of automotive craftsmen
As we’ll see during a rare tour of this famous facility
with my golden ticket being an invitation from Ferrari brass to take in their multi-acre compound just outside Modena where for nearly 80 years
magical vehicles have been created for customers and celebrities alike
While the nearby Ferrari Museum can be accessed with a ticket
nothing of that kind happens at the factory
Tours like this are made available to Ferrari clients
After roughly a dozen of us assemble under a grey northern Italian sky
our phones are taken by staffers who cover the cameras of each one with red tape
Whatever we see over the next two and a half hours will be recorded only by our unbelieving eyes
As we pile into the small campus tour bus that will take us to various key facilities as well as the F1 and Corse Clienti building near the fabled Fiorano test track
I get a sense from the Italian and French being spoken that many of these dapper retirement-age gentlemen are waiting for new Ferraris
That notion is confirmed when I comment to one man that while few have yet to see a Ferrari Purosangue SUV on the road
dozens seem to dash by us every few seconds on their way to local test runs before being shipped off
I reply by noting that one well-known friend of mine indeed has been waiting patiently for his for months
which seems to satisfy him that I’m worthy of being on the tour
never mind that my $500,000 Purosangue lives only in my dreams
Seeing that radical new car – Ferrari’s first four-door “don’t call it an SUV
it’s a Ferrari Activity Vehicle” – by the dozens hammers home how special it is to be inside Ferrari HQ
Countless other seldom-seen machines scurry about
like the elegant new 12Cilindri coupe and Spyder and even a camouflaged version of the striking new $4 million F80
We’re just ten minutes into the afternoon trip when that same Purosangue fellow yells out for the bus driver to stop
And yet after a whisper to our capable guide
vice chairman of the company that bears his name
even if I have no clue who these folks are
but it truly felt like we just saw the pontiff of this hallowed city-state
It would be impossible to share every single detail of a Ferrari factory tour
in part because every auto enthusiast likely would seize onto something different
Maybe it’s the SF90 FXX-K sprinting down the street
or perhaps the vintage 288 GTO sitting roped off near a few new engines
The first stop was the engine building facility
which was not only spotless but also featured quiet machines
all part of what Ferrari calls its Formula Uomo focus
It must also be said there appear to be just as many women as men on duty among the 4,000-plus employees here
all clocking in at a company that for many years has been voted among the best places to work on the European continent
there are also countless state-of-the-art white robots on hand to take over more tedious or exacting tasks
like making sure valve guide rings are millimeter precise or gluing windshields in place
Two robots have even been named Romeo and Juliet
and 12-cylinder cases being carefully mated to Ferrari’s famous red cylinder heads (the genesis of the original Testarossa nickname
or “red head”) immediately triggers in my mind the high-revving
shredded-linen roar of the resulting engines
each dressed in tan jumpsuits with red accents and a Shell logo on the back
appearing to be neither stressed nor wasting time
it takes about 3 days for a V6 or V8 engine to come to life
which one worker will shepherd from start to finish with his or her name affixed to the beast at the conclusion
If you guessed that Ferrari's famous 12-cylinder powerplants get the real royal treatment
they could soon be a thing of the past as Ferrari races toward its first fully electric vehicle while also dabbling in myriad new hybrid engines with fewer cylinders
It is explained to us that the sinuous bodies of each Ferrari are crafted over at the iconic Scaglietti factory then painted and carefully transported over to where we are now
Doors typically stay off until the very last point of assembly in an effort to spare them from damage
we head towards a cavernous building where most Ferraris are assembled
we drive down streets named for Enzo Ferrari
and other legends of the Prancing Horse stable
occasionally spotting rare sights along the path
One such sight is a wild rose-colored 296 GTB with an oversized hand-painted Ferrari shield on its flank where a smaller metal badge would usually be
Our tour guide explains that this car is one of the factory’s tailor-made vehicles and is being fully customized to the customer's tastes
The first thing we see are four 12Cilindri in grey
all awaiting minor adjustments before being taken around Maranello for shakedown rides
our guide explains how a timed ballet takes place every 10 or so minutes
with body shells advancing slowly on rolling lines
gradually picking up more parts and pieces until they are “married” to their fully assembled engine/transmission/suspension assemblies
That moment finds a half dozen Ferrari technicians suddenly swarming each car
whether a Rosso Ferrari Roma or Blu Pozzi 296 GTB
we are then escorted to an area with no moving-carpet assembly line
six (count them) $3 million Ferrari Daytona SP3s are being hand-assembled by a select crew whose only job is to build these special sports cars
which follow the radical SP1 and SP2 Monzas in the heritage
taking them from mere parts to museum-quality collectibles
we assume this must be the end of the show
Back on the bus for the short drive past Enzo’s old office near the factory gates (where he reportedly checked every car that left the place) and down a few blocks to another gated compound with a variety of modern buildings that house both the headquarters of Ferrari’s F1 operations as well as its nearby Corse Clienti program
This first off-limits location is where engineers secretly plot out the details of next year’s F1 engine and chassis
under the guidance of aces Charles Leclerc and
Ferrari has offered some of its most powerful track-focused cars
to its best customers with proven track skills
The cars available to them also include former F1 racing cars
which are usually sold two years after they conclude their race season
These red demons are stored and maintained here in Maranello and then shipped around the world at the client’s behest to a series of track events that allow them to exercise their steeds
These clients benefit from full Ferrari support in the U.S.
If you have to ask just how much that annual program costs outside of the cost of the car
Our guide is eager to tell us that these particular clients are not just custodians of very rare pieces of Ferrari’s racing history
they are also “active participants” in Ferrari’s quest for finding that next tenth of a second
and as such are frequently called upon to share everything from track event telemetry to vehicle impressions with engineers looking for feedback beyond what a few on-staff pro drivers can provide
when you have this kind of money and the commensurate amateur talent
you’re buying yourself a very rare seat at the Ferrari family table
As we summit the staircase in the Corse Clienti building
the largely red cars assembled before us defy description and
there must have been two dozen or more F1 cars from the past three or four decades
with names emblazoned near the single-seater cockpits such as Jean Alesi
Our group immediately falls into two camps
those of us who are speechless and others who just start blurting out expressions familiar to giddy 12-year-olds
This historic and museum-quality assemblage almost makes the other nearby room seem pedestrian
with its selection of 599 and LaFerrari FXX-K machines
as well as several Le Mans 499P cars that recently helped bring Ferrari back to the podium at that famous race
So perhaps the Willy Wonka analogy wins out in the end
While there is truly an air of almost hushed reverence about this place
there is also an unmistakable sense of giddy fun
of being in a playpen for car fanatics the likes of which is hard to top
and you sense they know they’re in Candyland
The time comes for us to roll back to reception
It’s 5 o’clock and the workers are all filing out as well
Unlucky in the sense that very few humans will park these Maranello-made chariots in their garages
but lucky to be able to simply have spent any time around these unique and thoroughly alive mechanical creations

Lewis Hamilton has taken to social media to share his excitement after appearing at Ferrari’s Italian headquarters in Maranello for the first time
Hamilton is preparing to contest his first season with the iconic marque
having moved over from Mercedes to replace Carlos Sainz as Charles Leclerc’s team mate

The Briton started the year with a message to his fans and followers on LinkedIn
when he wrote about “embracing new opportunities” and stated that “reinvention is powerful”
Hamilton went a step further by posting another update on his social media channels that included a photo of him posing outside Ferrari team buildings in an all-black suit and alongside an F40 sports car
“There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever and today
is one of those days,” Hamilton said in the accompanying message

Hamilton is expected to carry out a number of pre-season tasks at Maranello this week
with Ferrari outlining how his first day at the team has panned out
Earlier today the seven-time World Champion arrived at the squad's headquarters before heading to the Fiorano track where he was met by Team Principal Fred Vasseur and Ferrari CEO
Hamilton has switched to Ferrari for 2025 after a highly successful 12-year stint at Mercedes
Next on Hamilton’s agenda was a visit to the Fiorano house and the pit garage
including a look at the office from where the team's late founder Enzo Ferrari would watch everyone at work
Hamilton then returned to the Scuderia's headquarters to meet team management and Piero Ferrari (Ferrari Vice Chairman and son of Enzo) before continuing with his "immersion programme"
visiting all the various departments in order to get to know the Ferrari team
The team have also confirmed that Hamilton's work will continue tomorrow with more technical meetings and briefings

"I’m so excited to start this new era and to meet and work with a hugely talented and inspiring group of people

DRIVER OF THE DAY: Piastri's imperious Miami showing gets your vote
Thirty-eight days after Lewis Hamilton first set foot in Maranello as an official Ferrari driver (and took the now iconic photo of him dressed in an all-black suit and coat outside Enzo Ferrari’s office
which broke the internet) the seven-time World Champion will get his first real taste of what kind of machinery he’ll have to fight with in 2025 when he takes part in the official three-day pre-season test in Bahrain
It's been a whirlwind few weeks for the Briton
who came back to work earlier than usual to give himself as many minutes as possible acclimatising to his new team
having spent the last 12 years at rivals Mercedes
READ MORE: Who’s driving on Day 1 of 2025 pre-season testing in Bahrain
That period began with an extensive meet and greet
which involved Hamilton working his way around every single department in Maranello – and shaking the hand of each and every employee (which equated to around 1,500 people)
A couple of days later came a sleepless night in his motorhome
parked adjacent to the farmhouse which housed Enzo Ferrari’s office
so excited was he about his first chance to test Ferrari machinery with 30 laps in a 2023-spec car at the team’s test track at Fiorano
Hamilton posed for this now-iconic photo on his first day at Ferrari
The experience was everything he hoped for and more
fans cheering him on from the other side of the fences that run the perimeter of the track and his father
mother and stepmother also in town for the special occasion
The location of his motorhome meant the early starts – he would be up and about at 7am local time
kicking his day off with running a few laps of the track – were slightly less painful given his morning commute was just a few metres
The motorhome has also been helpful in him making the most of his time
READ MORE: 5 key things we need to find out at pre-season testing
and slot in a working lunch in a relaxing environment in his motorhome with his new engineers to speed up the integration
“Just to have this team all under one roof is quite a unique experience that I've not had before,” said Hamilton
whose previous team Mercedes had their engine base and aerodynamic HQ in separate locations
“To have the track outside the factory is quite incredible
To be able to roll out our car and put it onto track in Fiorano
and also to just know about the history of this place as well
Hamilton and Leclerc offer first reaction to driving 2025 Ferrari car
That short walk to work was particularly useful last Wednesday, as he and the team only landed from London just before 4am following the F1 75 Live event at The O2 event and he and team mate Charles Leclerc were only afforded an hour or two of sleep before their filming day and first run in the 2025 car began
“Charles was in the car first but I told myself I’m going to make sure I’m up so Charles isn’t the only one taking the brunt of lack of sleep,” he said

Hamilton is trying to leave no stone unturned in his bid to get comfortable in his new team
After years of getting to know everyone and building relationships at Mercedes
it’s been like starting a new school and hitting the reset button for Hamilton on joining Ferrari
which is why he’s keen on getting as much face time as he can with his new colleagues
That integration also includes learning Italian through one-to-one lessons
building on the little he picked up when he used to race karts in the country as a teenager – and even if English is what is used to converse across the board
he’s able to understand chunks of what is said when colleagues converse in Italian – and he’s able to have simple chats with his mechanics about their family and what they’ve been up to at the weekend
“I guess I want people to know that I'm willing to go above and beyond to be able to blend in and to contribute to my fullest potential,” he said of learning Italian
“So I'm enjoying it and it's challenging to practice
It's definitely hard to always retain and remember the words
“It's not easy to learn another language
and that's why I really love being here at the factory
because I'm getting to practise more and more each day.”
That bit of Italian will surely have helped when he crashed a Ferrari for the first time
during a two-day private test in Barcelona
Hamilton was nervous about going back to the garage to face his mechanics but they were nothing but supportive
They much preferred he found the limit in a private test as he got comfortable with the car – than when it mattered more in pre-season testing or a race weekend
GALLERY: Cars hit the track for the first day of 2025 pre-season testing in Bahrain
Hamilton faces a huge challenge getting to know his new Ferrari
which he’s already found operates in a “completely different” way to anything he’s ever driven
“It's a really exciting experience,” he said
“This is something I've really enjoyed trying to wrap my mind around
particularly also just in settings and the terminology they use and the different ways that they can set up a car
He added: “I don't feel that currently I'm having to change my driving style too much
I'm actually feeling quite comfortable in the car and just taking one step at a time
“I hope we'll see as we get further down the line at the real race circuits that we're going to just how much aligns and how much change I might have to do
The key is to be open-minded and to be dynamic
Hamilton takes part in the first session of pre-season testing
While it’s likely that he will continue to use his motorhome as a base whenever he’s at Maranello
given the time efficiencies and comfort it delivers
he is looking at getting a place in Milan for during the season after deciding against a place locally following a few viewings
Even if Milan is a two-hour commute to Maranello
it offers a base nearby to friends in the city for company
rather than bouncing around a place near Maranello
Hamilton headed to the restroom before doing his first run – and he found himself double-taking when he looked in the mirror and saw himself in the famous red overalls of Ferrari
It means so much to him to be a Ferrari driver – and that mirror moment has been just one of ‘pinch himself’ instances since he joined F1’s most famous team
TEAM PREVIEW: Can Ferrari finally end their title drought with star signing Hamilton?
Hamilton says he’s invigorated by the challenge Ferrari presents
He looks reborn and as excited for this next chapter with Ferrari as he was making his debut with McLaren and starting a new era with Mercedes
He’s long been known for spending long days at the track
among the first to arrive and last to leave – and that has been the case at Ferrari
Though what’s different to the last few years is that he’s finding he doesn’t want to leave each night
“I never thought at this point in my career I would have so much excitement being at work…wanting to be at work early
wanting to put even extra levels of work in to achieve the dream - but here I am,” he said
I just felt this new wave of life and energy
I guess I've received that from everyone here
from the way people have reacted to me joining
you've got a few people that will say a negative thing here and there
But it doesn't touch what we're doing and what we're working towards.”
Hamilton has been left feeling invigorated by his Ferrari move
While Hamilton has a lot of names to learn at Ferrari
there are some familiar faces which are already helping him settle in
The 40-year-old has been friends with chairman John Elkann for years – and has long conversed with him regularly
He’s also been in weekly contact with boss Fred Vasseur for the past couple of decades
having raced for the Frenchman’s team in feeder series GP2 (now known as Formula 2)
He’s also knows recent recruits Jerome d’Ambrosio and Loic Serra
who are Deputy Team Principal and Head of Chassis Performance Engineering respectively
And from the minute he knew he would be joining Ferrari alongside Leclerc
Hamilton has focused on enhancing his relationship with his new team mate
TECH ANALYSIS: The 'significant changes' that are giving Ferrari confidence in their 2025 car
“Charles and I get on really well,” he told me
I tried to go out of my way to make sure we spoke more often
and there’s actually quite a few things we have in common
“We’ve got a great rapport – he’s working incredible hard
It’s great to see his work ethic and learn from him and his knowledge of what he’s experienced here for the last six years and really working together to elevate the team
We will without doubt be one of the strongest team mate pairings – and that’s a positive.”
Leclerc and Hamilton will embark on their first season as team mates in 2025
Hamilton is under no illusions how big the size of the challenge is in front of him
Whereas he had months and months of testing ahead of his F1 debut with McLaren and three pre-season tests to get up to speed with his following team Mercedes
the Briton will have just 1.5 days of running in current machinery in Bahrain before he heads to Australia for the first round of the season
“What I know is that the testing is more limited than ever before but fortunately
I've had a good bit of time in the car,” he said
the Briton having done a private test at Fiorano in a 2023 car
two more days of running in a 2023 car at Barcelona
a run in a modified 2024-car at Barcelona with a Monza-spec low downforce rear wing and a handful of laps in the 2025 car on a filming day at Fiorano
I don't know but I'm doing everything I can to be ready for race one.”
READ MORE: ‘I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be’ – Hamilton insists Ferrari have ‘every ingredient’ to win a world title
who will share driving duties with Leclerc across three days of testing in Bahrain
This will be his first opportunity to start building a rhythm with the car
getting a feel for it on a low and high fuel
understanding how it works its tyres and how the team goes about adding performance
fixing problems and preparing for an assault on the title
with Ferrari seemingly in the ascendency after their strongest campaign for years last season
If they’ve carried that form through to this year
Hamilton should find himself with a stable
balanced package that can unleash performance to fight at the front
It’s then down to him to be dynamic and find a way to utilise that speed
We’ll get our first glimpse this week as to how he’ll cope with that challenge

Celebrating 30 years of the F50 Almost 30 years ago,...
A day prior to McLaren’s dominant Formula 1, 1-2 finish...
“The Veloce12 is a tribute to unbridled performance and analogue driving pleasure,” TS proclaims. As such, the donor ‘F133’ 5.5-litre V12 sitting in the nose of the 550 has been treated to a thorough, nuts and bolts, strip-it-down-and-rebuild-using-new-everything going over.
It remains a naturally aspirated unit, here benefitting from a completely new cooling system offering a 30 per cent increase in cooling power, and a new ‘Supersprint’ exhaust, capped off by a set of twin tailpipes.
The result is a hair under 500bhp – a small gain on what Ferrari managed back in the Nineties – delivered to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. TS claims 0-62mph in 4.4s and a 199mph top speed, which should sound fairly dramatic.
Stopping it with drama are six-pot front/four-pot rear Brembo calipers clamping onto mammoth 380mm discs all round, hiding behind bespoke lightweight wheels developed and designed in house by TS.
Further inside lies a new TracTive bespoke suspension setup with adaptive dampers, while the 550’s chassis itself was subject to a ‘significant’ increase in torsional stiffness, “thus improving handling and precision”.
Speaking of precision, that bodyshape. Oof. It’s all been handcrafted from carbon fibre as you’d expect, using CAD, CFD and – likely – a lot of emozione. “The design advances Touring’s legacy,” said design boss Matteo Gentile, “and takes certain classic concepts a step further. The Veloce12 is a celebration of our storied past, a showcase of our present capabilities, and a glimpse into the future of grand touring excellence.” Quite.
Naturally there’s a swathe of expensive, luxury leather swaddling the 12’s interior, new, “ergonomically sculpted seats” for better support, and a dash of modernity to bring it up to date. Mostly though: open-gate manual, classic gearlever, lots of buttons, gorgeous leather.
“While it draws inspiration from our iconic models, it is unmistakably timeless,” said boss Markus Tellenbach. “We intentionally honoured our rich heritage, but we also embraced modern innovation to create a vehicle that represents the most exclusive grand touring experience.”
Naturally, this heritage and innovation and exclusivity and big fat nat-asp V12 comes at a price. Touring Superleggera is only building 30 of these things, with each one starting at €690,000… plus the donor 550 Maranello. Though, you do get a three-year warranty on the car, and a one year/7,000-mile warranty on the engine. Worth it for – as TS puts it – an “antidote to electronic overload”?

Lewis Hamilton has unleashed a storm at Ferrari
The seven-time world champion exposed the internal cracks in the team after a day full of tension
Far from being a step forward for the Maranello team
the Grand Prix turned into a public nightmare where Hamilton’s frustration marked every lap
The Briton, still far from feeling comfortable behind the wheel of the SF-24, started from 12th position, while his teammate Charles Leclerc started eighth. With a good comeback, Hamilton caught up with Leclerc halfway through the race
his frustration boiled over with sarcastic remarks
and a clear message that things at Ferrari were not working out as he had hoped
the tension between Hamilton and his engineer Riccardo Adami grew
insisted on being let through: “I’m burning my tires behind him,” he warned over the radio
“Do you want me to sit here for the whole race?” he exclaimed
he was asked to stay in Leclerc’s DRS: ‘We want you to stay in DRS with Charles
Keep going.’ Hamilton’s response was blunt and revealing: ”This is not good teamwork
His words hinted at the Briton’s deep unease with the way Ferrari manages its drivers
the team ordered Leclerc to give up the position
I got out of the way,” recalling an occasion when he did allow an overtaking maneuver without argument
The tension reached its peak with one of the most talked-about phrases of the weekend: “Ah
just before Leclerc handed him seventh place
A phrase that has been repeated around the world and sums up the British driver’s level of anger
With five laps to go and Andrea Kimi Antonelli too far ahead
Ferrari ordered Hamilton to give back the position
Leclerc had warned over the radio: “I need Lewis to go faster because I’m in dirty air.” With no real chance of moving up
but not without making another scathing comment
When informed of Carlos Sainz’s proximity
he responded sarcastically: “You want me to let him pass too?” Another jab that showed his dissatisfaction with the team’s decisions
The race ended with Leclerc in seventh and Hamilton in eighth
which at the start of the season dreamed of fighting for the title
and frustration of its new star paint a complicated picture for a team that had high hopes and is now becoming one of the big disappointments of the season so far
Ferrari is experiencing a start to the season marked by uncertainty and
by a public outburst from Hamilton that could have internal consequences
What was supposed to be a new era of glory with a seven-time world champion at the wheel is turning into a ticking time bomb that looks set to get worse in the coming races

Cars, Ferrari, Ford, Porsche
and now this small town in Italy has become something of a Ferrari shrine
but it’s arguably the most important place in the world when it comes to cars
Most petrolheads know that Maranello and Ferrari are often spoken in the same breath
But what some people may not know is just how popular Ferrari is around these parts of Italy
DISCOVER SBX CARS: The global premium car auction platform powered by Supercar Blondie
Ferrari actually started life as Auto Avio Costruzioni in Enzo Ferrari’s hometown of Modena
which is why Enzo decided to relocate to Maranello – it was much smaller and therefore
the factory in Maranello had already grown considerably
so moving back to Modena never crossed Enzo’s mind
Part of this story was told quite well in the movie Ferrari, with Adam Driver starring as Enzo Ferrari
Fun fact, albeit probably a bit unrelated, Adam Driver was actually not allowed to drive a Ferrari on set
Everything and anything in town has Ferrari written all over it
the first thing you’ll find is a large stainless steel statue of the Prancing Horse
There’s also another similar statue in the main public square in town
a Ferrari-themed eaterie where Enzo would dine quite often
you don’t have to go far to find even more Ferrari logos
There’s a public park with life-size replicas of some famous Ferrari models
and then there’s the Enzo Ferrari Auditorium
is where the Tifosi – Ferrari fans – watch the F1 race every Sunday
There are other places in the world we associate with car brands – Detroit and Ford
and Stuttgart with Porsche and Mercedes – spring to mind
But nowhere compares to Maranello in Italy

Earlier this week, a 1964 Ferrari 250 LM was sold at RM Sotheby’s Paris auction. The legendary race car, which had been in the custody of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum for 54 years, went for $36 million.
Prior to being put up for sale at the auction, the 250 LM was sent to Maranello for a thorough check-up. It was during this time that it was caught driving near the factory. A video shared by @1am_2late shows the car exiting the iconic gate with the yellow ‘Ferrari’ sign.

This Ferrari 250 LM was the overall winner of the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans
It was piloted by noted racing drivers Masten Gregory and Jochen Rindt
It is also the only privateer-entered Ferrari to have won Le Mans

Immense positivity has followed Hamilton’s Ferrari debut after 20 days of dizzying hype
The atmosphere in Maranello is similar to that which enveloped Schumacher’s first laps 30 years ago
“Things happen when they are meant to
even the world championship” said Marchionne at the time
who intervened decisively to hire the German Champion
Elkann became president of Ferrari in 2018 after the death of Marchionne
the grandson of the Lawyer did not exactly seem like a super fan of F1
the Ferrari of January 20 has entered a new era
It remains to be seen whether Elkann’s choices
including the replacement of Mattia Binotto with Fred Vasseur
before but the necessary conditions for a move were not there
Mercedes was too dominant a car to be abandoned
especially given the work Lewis began in 2013
there was a very pleasant meeting between Elkann and Hamilton where they discovered that they had
a strong harmony thanks to fashion and research
Vice President Piero Ferrari met him several times over the years as a customer
has had lunch more than once at the famous Montana Restaurant
while for Lewis it was the very first time
but this is also what creates cohesion between the team and its drivers
creating the empathy that only the Emilians know how to build
when you are in Maranello you immediately understand that half of the inhabitants work directly or indirectly for Ferrari
A place where you meet workers or engineers who go home on foot
Of course there is a difference between seeing Ferrari from the outside and jumping in. Hamilton beat Vettel’s Ferrari during his time at Mercedes
meaning he often upset the Tifosi’s title hopes
Hamilton is called to bring the World Championship back to Maranello
What matters is wanting to search for it every day desperately, no matter how many titles you have won. Being hungry for revenge after three years of suffering and positive emotions. Hamilton brought to Maranello those who know him best in the world, his family and Angela Cullen
underlines how the human side still manages to prevail in what is still a show business
Hamilton has already obtained the pedal changes he requested – which required a lot of work
acting as a baseline before he makes adjustments for his own preferences
The next TPC test will serve as a key step for Hamilton and Ferrari’s harmony to arrive ready in Melbourne
The English knight was perceived almost as a superhero in terms of presence
Charles Leclerc was celebrated by the fans
whilst also watching as a privileged spectator the first steps of his veteran colleague
It should be remembered that Leclerc was informed of Hamilton’s arrival long before it was announced
Despite everything that can happen with this driver partnership
Hamilton must deal with Leclerc’s speed
whilst Charles is well aware of Hamilton’s caliber
Surely both have the tools to move Ferrari forward
Leclerc and Hamilton together form can raise the team’s level
This will be necessary to overcome McLaren and Verstappen
The fourth round of the season will see the first update package for Ferrari this year

this isn’t a scene from a remake of The Godfather: Lewis Hamilton has been pictured at Maranello for the first time as a Ferrari driver
It’s almost a year since the team made Hamilton an offer he couldn’t refuse
but he’s now only a couple of days away from taking to the track at Fiorano
Hamilton, who turned 40 a couple of weeks ago, is then set to appear in those famous red overalls at the F1 season launch on 18 February
before jetting back to Italy for the full car reveal the very next day
Pre-season testing kicks off on 26 February in Bahrain
with the first race of the 2025 calendar a fortnight later in Melbourne
“There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever and today, my first as a Ferrari driver, is one of those days,” said Lewis on Instagram

playSaunders backs Hamilton to win 2025 F1 championship with Ferrari (1:49)Nate Saunders makes his early prediction for the winner of the 2025 F1 championship
The first Ferrari Formula 1 car to be raced by Lewis Hamilton will be revealed at a launch event at the team's factory in Maranello on Feb
After 12 years at Mercedes, Hamilton's Ferrari contract will start in January next year and see him paired with Charles Leclerc at the Italian team
Both Hamilton and Leclerc will attend F1's 75th anniversary launch event in London on Feb. 18 -- where the liveries of all ten teams will be revealed on stage at the O2 Arena -- before travelling to Ferrari's headquarters in Maranello for the launch of the actual car in a separate event on Feb
Hamilton is set to make his on-track debut with Ferrari before the launch date by making use of a regulation that allows teams to run a car that is at least two years old
team principal Fred Vasseur said the exact date of Hamilton's first outing in red was still to be determined
"We will have the occasion to do a TPC or Pirelli test day," Vasseur confirmed
and we didn't take a decision [on the date]."
Ahead of the first race in Australia on March 16
three days of preseason testing are scheduled in Bahrain from Feb
which Hamilton and Leclerc will split between them
It means Hamilton will have limited track time before his first race with Ferrari
but Vasseur trusts his driver's 18 years of F1 experience will mean he gets up to speed quickly

starting from the beginning of January until the launch of the season on the 19th or 18th of Feb in London
and we will do the launch the 19th in Maranello," Vasseur said
it's critical that you have only six weeks [between Hamilton arriving and the first test]
"But I think he's also coming with his own experience
"It means that I'm not worried at all about this
It's also the continuity of the previous regulations and so that means for us
"If you imagine that to go to Bahrain [testing] and you have the sandstorm as we had a couple of years ago
We know that we have only three days there
Ferrari finished 14 points behind champions McLaren in this year's constructors' championship after scoring five race victories -- their most in a season since 2018
Vasseur believes the team is now on the brink of ending its championship drought
which stretches back to its last constructors' crown in 2008
"What we have to do to win next year is about details," Vasseur said
"We made good improvements I think on every single area
"We are still missing 14 points on the championship
"It means that we are speaking about details on every single pillar
and it's a good lesson for everybody into the team
"Next year I'm sure the championship will be also tight
and that we can't let one point run away."
Since he took charge at Ferrari at the start of the 2023 season
Vassuer has overseen a return to the front of the grid for the Italian team but said his work was far from finished
"You have to keep the approach of the continuous improvement
or to try to improve on every single department
because everybody else will improve and everybody else on the grid will try to do a better job tomorrow than today
"It means that we have to keep this kind of dynamic
It's true that when you start a project like I started two years ago
with the system in F1 and you start to recruit
you have people joining the team sometimes two years later
"And this is creating a huge inertia on the project and we are probably ..
I will have to do smaller adjustments in the future than I did in the past
but I don't want to say that at one stage that okay now we are fine
I think we have to keep in mind the fact that we have to continue to develop
