Kunst Meran Merano Arte presents Aerolectics
the first Italian solo exhibition of Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński (Vienna
Curated by Lucrezia Cippitelli and Simone Frangi
the exhibition is part of the three-year program The Invention of Europe: a tricontinental narrative (2024-2027)
a project that aims to dismantle the monolithic narrative of European identity through a tricontinental perspective
confronts the processes of historical removal and the dynamics of European colonialism
Central to her research for Aerolectics is the little-known history of religious missions in South Tyrol and their role in the construction of colonial relations between Europe and Africa
The artist brings to light the stories of young Africans deported in the 19th century to European territories by European missionaries under the pretext of saving their souls
an African girl brought to the Ursuline convent in Brunico on January 11
While the latter seemed to adapt to monastic life
Asue* was described in the convent’s records as an irrepressible presence
even by force. And it is precisely a storm that Kazeem-Kamiński evokes in the exhibition spaces of Kunst Meran Merano Arte
Aerolectics unfolds as an immersive installation that weaves together Yoruba cosmology
fire and air - and fragments of historical memory
The audience finds itself immersed in a sensory landscape of sounds
images and evocative objects that give voice to those who have been erased from official history
The artist uses the metaphor of the Insubric Line
the geological boundary between the African and European plates
to represent the conflict between cultures
The rift between the two continents translates into a contrast between systems of thought and patterns of domination
challenging established narratives about Europe’s colonial past
The exhibition alternates between full and empty
inviting visitors to reflect on the perception of Blackness in Europe and its invisibility in official historiography
strongly influenced by Black feminist thought
but elaborates new modes of symbolic restitution
constructing a restorative memory that does not reduce historical subjects to mere objects of study
The exhibition is part of The Invention of Europe: a tricontinental narrative (2024-2027)
and the rewriting of history in the European context
Kunst Meran Merano Arte is organizing two in-depth events
On the Redistributive Functions of Museum Institutions
which will feature international scholars and curators
The discussion will start from the story of the Ethiopian cloak stolen during the colonial era by General Aeneas Navarini and kept in Merano as war booty
The conference aims to reflect on strategies of restitution and the responsibilities of cultural institutions in building more inclusive and dynamic narratives
with an evening of music and performance in collaboration with Festival Sonora
designed to offer a different perspective on the same issues
and musician Melika Ngombe Kolongo aka Nkisi
known for her fusion of African polyrhythms
hardcore electronica and cinematic sounds inspired by 1970s Italian horror films
Belinda Kazeem-Kamiński is an internationally recognized artist
Her work has been exhibited in leading institutions such as Kunsthalle Wien
Camera Austria Graz and Galerie für zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig
He has participated in the Liverpool Biennial
Art X Lagos and Les Rencontres d’Arles
including the Otto Mauer Award and the Art X Prize for the African Diaspora
His works are part of museum collections such as the mumok | Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien in Vienna and the Centre National des Arts Plastiques

restaurant surroundings and Steinach Townhouse: ©Giovanni De Sandre
a budding chef-patron and a Merano still completely unaware of the exponential culinary function it would take on in the 2000s
Andrea Fenoglio was only 23 years old when he chose South Tyrol's second-largest town
an unusual junction between spa hotspot and Alpine resort
to open a restaurant named after the empress who
in her time decreed its dazzling entry into the European holiday plan
Thus was born “Sissi,” an insignia-outsider ready to topple the absolute formalisms of the gourmet litany to dòmino
Gone are the long-winded explanations about cerebral dishes (or sold as such)
and the team has only one possible mission: to provide the customer with the right portion of live entertainment
because "Sissi" today is full even on weekdays
with Fenoglio himself parading among the tables to season the sacred ritual of the meal with irony - only motto
better to fill the environment with laughter than with mechanical gestures without a hint of spontaneity
creating a mini-curcuit of interconnected realities
finds easy ferment at 357 Pizza & Food
a little place centered on long-rising rounds
homegrown regional staples and mouthwatering desserts ad libitum - see the gelato mantecato espresso
the couple's latest venture also invests hospitality to the fullest extent
to baste a decidedly peculiar sojourn experience in Merano land
Pretend you are staying inside a nineteenth-century mansion with wooden doors in antique squiggles
where authentic pieces of vintage furniture populate every room from the lobby to the suites; breathe in deeply the fragrance of butter cookies and stuffed shortbread that invades the promenade anticipating the surprises of breakfast; listen to the talking history that inhabits the spaces-both the full and the empty-while waiting to greet newcomers with a century-old handshake (not at all faintly weakened by the weight of memories)
You have just arrived at Steinach Townhouse
where Katalin - responsible for the entire hospitality project - harmonizes the tone of voice with the succession of eras that chase each other within a few meters: a step
up to the panoramic terrace from which to embrace the landscape with your gaze
already foretasting the moment of dinner at one of the “family” insignias (which we will return to in a few lines)
If it were the usual ensemble of pseudo-typical Tyrolean furnishings
Steinach Townhouse has the iridescent charm of lived-in places
dense with details that spur the eye to scouting: on the outside
the mixed palette of chlorophyll and urban linden that makes the Steinach ward (hence the genesis of the name) a little Eden of holiday coolness; inside
11 suites completely different from each other
capable of defying the usual depersonalized luxury with the allure of maturity
while the common area warms the tones (and spirits) with soft lounge seating
designed to quench the thirst for drinks simply by extending a hand toward the well-stocked living cellar
that a time-lapse of objects flickers on the continuous tape of history (integrated into the present at the behest of the owners
Roger Botti and Giulia de Andreis of Monza
both designers): amarcord cameras with accompanying easel
soft carpets contrasting with the original wooden floors and
sometimes (as happens in the Bow Window Suite)
a sinuous spiral staircase that Sissi herself would not have resisted-celebrating her infatuation with the internal “secret passages” directed to the private apartments
our favorite moment: the one when the relaxation of the night gives way to the brisk gestures of awakening
first peeking from the curtains at the view of the cathedral bell tower or Porta Passiria
then sitting at the tables of the breakfast lounge
silent witnesses to a journey that starts from afar; they were
salvaged for the occasion from none other than the 1930s first-class waiting room of Trento station
The revival continues with the parade of pastries baked live by Barbara Ciulla
creator of a breakfast that is desuetive in its homemade matrix
from cookies with chocolate drippings to fluffy ricotta cupcakes to free-range omelets with speck and local cheeses
An honorable menu that follows Chef Fenoglio's lead
steering clear of anonymous prepackaged shortcuts
to the “mother house” from which it all began
because indulging in a walk at dusk to get to “Sissi” is the natural ending to a day at Steinach Townhouse - dinner as an extension of a human link that reinforces the dish
the cook-friend inclined to reveal the stirring behind the recipe
And those who enter with reverential fear of the "macaron"
aided by the mixture of familiarity and good-natured glances dispensed by maître Arianna
Like the family-friendly routes that dot Merano
the chef's itineraries are accomplished with ease
articulated on a single level of enjoyment and not on a progressive escalation of difficulty
There is the carte with immovable creations
claimed weekly by regulars (3 main dishes “medium size” and a dessert at €105); the Cinquepiatti menu with a vegetarian option
evolved but enticing even for the layman of green combos (5 “small size” creations at €115); and the complete Settepiatti tasting
with seasonal short-course and lasting mnemonic impact (€125 for “extra small” portions)
the intro is the oil-on-board of Pizza Liquida
an ageless taste that reconciles the adult's impressions with the child's emphasis: a mozzarella cube suspended on a mini-beer mug filled ad hoc with extra virgin olive oil
Drawing a slalom of overlapping textures is the Eggplant with Walnuts and Light Green Curry
where to replace the animal protein comes a meaty vegetable
interspersed with the satisfying crackle of dried fruit and rice wafers to garnish
Ignazio Niedrist's Sauvignon “Porphyr & Kalk” 2022 lends itself to the game supporting the spiciness with a light undertone that links the vegetable notes together
Read “tartare ”and you think of the usual appetizer devoid of incisive aromatic turns
socializes his beaten salmon trout with two new entries of extroverted disposition such as Vermouth and coffee- the one translated into sauce for the velvety bottom
the other added to the marinade as a pungent insert
An unexpected trio wallowing in fresh waters
between energetic currents and strategic pauses-see the garlic and green apple mayonnaise to caress the cheeks in closing
Sous chef Jona lays it on the Orzotto with sweet and spicy peppers
Not the absolute mainstream comedy cereal; rather
The result is an amalgamation of greedy reminiscences: as you eat
your mind instinctively races to chicken and romaine peppers
while the silkiness of the kernel evokes butter and anchovy risotto
Yet it is the pork popcorn that solves the equation between crunchy and enveloping
Kalterersee Classico Superiore 'Quintessenz' from Kaltern Kaltern Winery
Sissi's first-signature with amiably fishy implications
“Nine months of tight rehearsals in the kitchen to find the right square." A true gastronomic birth that generates good vibes between cod liver and zucchini
In the knot of pasta there's the sharp breeze of sailing
the creaminess of post-boarding comfort dishes
the vegetable that goes from side dish to co-star: the race is all in a forkful
And in the end you're really eating seafood foie gras
mashed potato and green algae speaks Japanese, an origami of umami elements designed to revive salivation after the sudden spike in fattiness of the previous course
More essential is the Saddle of venison cooked at a low temperature and served in a pistachio crust along with celeriac
The suspense returns a few minutes after the closing titles
thanks to the triumphant entry of the Red Turnip Ice Cream
Crispy Almond Horseradish and Caramel Apple Mousse: on paper a sugary injection
in the mouth a lash of digestive spiciness that makes even the request for bitter unnecessary
Small chats with Andrea and Jona mark the meal in the database of across-the-board successful dinners
“We want the guest to come back often for pleasure
not to come once on a whim.” The difference between an attempt and an achievement: this is how haute cuisine advances

Brandon Merano is a central Illinois native who started his journalism career his senior year at SIU working for WSILTV in Carterville, Illinois. He began as an associate producer, morning show photographer then reporter upon graduation from Southern Illinois University where he graduated with honors.
When he was 17 years old, Brandon enlisted in the Illinois Air National Guard where he served as an in-flight refueler, otherwise known as a “boom operator” deploying more than a dozen times in the Pacific, Europe and Middle East. He is currently still serving as a Lieutenant in the Air National Guard to this day.
After 6 years and a promotion to evening anchor at WSIL, Merano went on to work at KSDKTV as an anchor/reporter in St. Louis for three years, then WBBM in Chicago as a reporter. He was nominated for multiple regional Emmy’s along the way, winning one in St. Louis. Brandon is also a huge Cardinal, Blues, Bears, and Bulls fan. He’s covered multiple Cardinal pennant chases, a Blues Stanley Cup Championship in 2019 and the PGA Championship in 2018.
From Wednesday 17 July, the Bozen/Bolzano-Meran/Merano railway line will return to normal operation.
The 30-day closure was planned by RFI, the infrastructure manager, in order to carry out extensive work in preparation for the installation of the European Train Control System (ETCS), which will allow trains to run in close succession and increase the safety of the entire infrastructure.
Unfortunately, this will not be the last closure and in anticipation of similar work planned for summer 2025, the Provincial Mobility Department, in close cooperation with südtirolmobil, is collecting feedback from users in order to plan and implement the replacement bus service to make it more efficient and in line with the needs of travellers.
Fourth edition for the exhibition Architetture recenti in Alto Adige [Recent Architecture in South Tyrol], open at Merano Arte from 27 October to 16 February: created in collaboration with the Fondazione Architettura Alto Adige and the Südtiroler Künstlerbund, the exhibition offers an overview of a territory recognised as one of the most significant centres of experimentation in this field.
From the more than 240 proposals received, an international jury composed of the curator Filippo Bricolo, Annette Spiro and Elisa Valero selected a list of 56 projects that show the evolution of architecture in the South Tyrol region over the last six years, expanding a survey that in its entirety covers a time span from 2000 to today.
The heart of the investigation focuses on two fundamental questions: does an architecture of South Tyrol exist? And if so, what are its distinctive characteristics? Palace Merano ticks all the boxes for those searching for a deeply restorative and transformative mid-life reset in luxurious surroundings. The pretty Belle Epoque hotel, set in a valley amidst the snow-capped Dolomites
was initially constructed in 1906 to serve aristocrats that flocked here at the turn of the century
with cavernous spaces filled with chandeliers
marble columns and antiques that suit the presidents
pop stars and Euro couples that have been coming here for decades
An adjoining castle offers entirely private access to therapy rooms
it's had a rehaul – and we were first in to check it out
This is the original medical spa where Henri Chenot developed his famed method
which combines Traditional Chinese Medicine with state-of-the-art tech and a 360 approach to deep cleansing the body and resetting the mind
the entire 1200 square metre spa was given a complete overhaul
but the medical philosophy remains the same – 70 per cent of clients return here once or twice a year for that continuity
Palace Merano is assuredly doing what it’s done best for decades
Dr Massimiliano Mayrhofer (or Dr Max as almost everyone knows him)
who worked alongside Chenot for two decades
preventative programme in which the mind and body must be treated in unison
from daily hydrotherapy and massage to the restricted but delicious diet
focus on detoxing the body from the inside out
The solid and effective messaging from the whole team – many of whom have worked at the hotel for decades – is a crucial part of this
especially if changes will be sustained once guests leave the very controlled environment of the hotel
While the underlying philosophy may not have changed
the tech has – the newest introduction is a posturology department that will digitally analyse how a client’s body moves and then devise an exercise plan around it
Most people are here for the six-day signature Revital Detox for Longevity (70 per cent of whom are repeat clients)
It’s an intense and holistic programme aimed at efficiently eliminating toxins while boosting the mind and body with antioxidant-packed nutrition
rebalancing energic treatments (that work in a similar way to acupuncture but without needles) and a programme of daily treatments and bespoke interventions
and colonic irrigation through to aesthetic treatments
An entire 1500 square metre floor of the hotel houses a medical wing
and a visit with the doctor is obligatory for anyone on the Revital programme
They are also scanned by the DEXA body scanner (which instantly delivers detailed information on bone density
body fat and muscle mass) and have extensive blood tests (giving a full breakdown of blood count
tumour markers) – giving the team a complete picture of what is happening inside the body
The six-day Revital programme is based around a daily hydrotherapy and massage routine
beginning with a 20-minute soak in a warm aromatherapy jet bath
you'll have an algae-based hot mud wrap with ice-cold mud applied from the knees down to boost circulation
After an intense pummelling with hydrotherapy jets
next comes the signature cupping massage – a detoxifying and highly effective hour that aims to flush out toxins
The excellent Giovanna Dornelli returned tone to my neglected legs over six days of massage – and also recommended the facial version of the cupping massage to aid lymphatic drainage and promote a firmer
There’s an implicit sense that the team will get to the bottom of any health concerns or issues
after mentioning a heavy arm and shoulder that had been bothering me for 18 months
I was booked in for two sessions with osteopath Mattia Zanni
who immediately pinpointed the postural issues that were causing it
While everyone here repeats the mantra that weight loss is not the aim
the restricted but delicious plant-based diet (no alcohol
dairy or meat is served) and a one-day fast means that most guests lose around 3kg
It's worth considering if this kind of restricted diet is for you or if this likely weight loss is something you want
But the real goal is to reboot the mind and body
and six days is long enough to activate a fundamental mental shift to a healthier approach
lectures on nutrition and straight-talking advice from Dr Max (build muscle
eat more vegetables) and onsite dieticians who prepare extensive eating plans for when you leave as well as ongoing support (they are currently working on an app that will allow guests to be in touch with the hotel between their visits)
The spacious rooms echo the glamorous mood of the public spaces with marble bathrooms and light-filled spacious bedrooms. Newer rooftop suites have generous terraces, too, and sun worshippers should ask for a south-facing room that overlooks the pool and gardens.
The relaxed and cosseting atmosphere means that solo travellers feel perfectly at ease. The efficient waiters make lunches, and dinners feel like an event with their warmth and quickfire service. Despite the formality at dinner – with an occasional harpist – it never feels stuffy or intimidating. It’s an indulgence to come here, but it’s also an investment for future health and wellbeing – and as such, by the time you leave, the restoration and feel-good factor feel priceless.

Wellness travelA-listers swear by the detoxing benefits of this Italian wellness retreat – could it help me start 2024 right? After a boozy, stressful Christmas season, Madeleine Spencer was in need of some serious mind
But how would she fare in the sensory deprivation tank and with all that very un-British nakedness at Palace Merano’s luxurious A-list retreat
For someone who considers themselves an authority on wellness retreats and who has
embedded many of their practices into daily life
my December looked a bit like a month from the diary of Keith Richards
Drinks in Soho until I was tipped into a taxi well past midnight
A debauched birthday party where the gin and tonics segued into champagne and then schnapps seamlessly
many beige foods where vegetables ought to have been
the fusion of Chinese and Western medicine with proper testing to determine a course of action was what really appealed
and so I handed my body over to their doctors
and energy experts in the hope of returning to London renewed
I start proceedings in a flotation tank – and my head is bothering me
is the reason I have been sent into this world of silent darkness) but my actual head
as if it might dip below the water should I truly release it
I ponder if the doctor also wants me to let go in this regard and not just figuratively
but then the nurse told me not to get the saltwater in my eyes
I start to consider what other people do with their heads
then question whether mine is perhaps heavier than the norm
then decide I should probably stay alert and vigilant for the next hour – and so I begin wrestling with my mind more intensively than usual

Doctor Silvano Mascadri didn’t arrive at the conclusion that my head was really in need of a break by accident
or even by listening to my stream of thoughts when he asked how I was
Palace Merano is pretty hot on diagnostics and during my very first day
and postural analysis among others – all of which inform my schedule for the ensuing days
The results resoundingly find that I have been handed a rather standard-issue body (thanks
despite having endured a few big nights out
is showing up in the form of excess cortisol racing through me
with energy testing revealing tension in my head
and intestine (where stress has a little party in the gut
My doctor tells me that they will focus on this
as well as giving my body an overall rest and reset
adding that “the mind and the body are not as separate as people think
really they are the same thing – but you do need a little help to be still inside yourself”
floating in water that is 33 per cent salt
and I decide to check my breasts while I’ve got time to do a really thorough job
I think about mermaids and feel duped by the depiction of Triton’s palace in The Little Mermaid because surely it’d be all dark close to the bottom of the ocean rather than technicolour
My doctor tells me that ‘the mind and the body are not as separate as people think

the pre-Raphaelite muse and artist Elizabeth Siddall modelling for Millais’s Ophelia springs to mind

badminton consumes more than a few minutes as I decide that I need to take it up again
By the time I’m thinking about Midsomer Murders and how this tank would be an excellent setting for the discovery of a body
I decide the doctor is right: these racing thoughts surely can’t be serving me very well
around the eighth staff member to have seen me fully nude during my various treatments
and I am by this point inured to the staff seeing my unclothed form)
and I pad through the magnificently appointed corridors – we are talking more than five chandeliers in virtually every view – convinced I have to find a way to quieten my mind unless it’s directly engaged in a task
The doctor has suggested dancing when back in London
shaking in front of the mirror to “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It”
amused by the combination of my flailing form and the majesty of those many chandeliers and the backdrop of the Dolomites peeping through my balcony door
A quick word on Merano: there are lots of ways to enjoy it. You could come with others who aren’t fully engaged in the programme and experience all the medical facilities while they ski a mere 15 minutes away and join you for an evening meal or tea at the dry bar
surrounded by 40,000 subtropical plants thanks to the microclimate
Or you could simply spend your time at Palace Merano against a backdrop of the resplendent views encasing it
as a drip makes its way into your bloodstream
While the emphasis for me is on mindfulness and relaxation
the treatments and diagnostics are incredibly comprehensive
including everything from hydro-aromatherapy to hormonal assessments to plantar reflexology
I found the blend of Chinese and Western modalities effective and holistic and the communication between the different departments very good (this isn’t the case in every medical spa I’ve visited)
It’s worth mentioning that the staff are exceptional: friendly
and creating a homely atmosphere (which makes sense as I am told by the manager that most members of staff have been there for 10+ years)
there is some work needed on the nutrition side of things
I felt there was too little education about eating habits as a whole
I was given sugar-heavy tropical fruits for breakfast after advising I had PCOS (meaning my body’s relationship with sugar is complicated and eating fruit for breakfast
in time be ironed out but ironed out they must be to compete with Merano’s peers on the gut-health level
I’d unequivocally recommend Palace Merano if you’d like a thorough medical assessment followed by a genteel detox in sumptuous surroundings
I left after four days of treatments and rest with a remarkably still mind
conferring a calm that was helpful during the festivities
I will be dancing now I’m back in London – and have booked a ballet class for January
SkyAlps flights between London and Bolzano start from €184 (£158) each way
The four-day Detox for Longevity Programme at Palace Merano is available from €2,860 per person
plus €212 which covers compulsory medical examinations with the doctor

light and pretty good value compared with other similar saddles
and if you like yours minimalist on movement and cushioning
the Corsa could be just the ticket; if you like a bit of flex and cushioning
you probably need to look elsewhere – at least until Merano expands its offerings
The Corsa is billed as blending a mix of comfort and speed
wanted to create a saddle that was comfortable on long rides
> Buy this online here
With the saddle coming in at a competitive price point of £95 and just 151g
I was intrigued to see if it could live up to the claims
with a carbon seatpost and 32mm tyres run at 70psi
The Merano Corsa certainly looks the part and has a quality finish
with carbon rails and a carbon fibre shell with a leather outer fixed to it by adhesive
Under the leather is a thin layer of memory foam
which springs straight back into place if you try to push your finger into it
the leather showing no signs of wear after 400 miles of use and nothing coming unstuck
The lugs into which the carbon rails are attached are certainly substantial
more so than other carbon saddles I have used
and I had no worries about any aspect of the saddle failing with repeated use
I found during seated climbing I did not have enough support to push against
and I was able to move forwards and backwards depending on how aero I wanted to be
I found it good for getting deep in the drops
and this was where I felt I got the most out of it
It feels like it would be best suited for crit racing or time trialling on flatter
> How to choose the right saddle + 21 of the best
The Corsa is certainly very stiff – stiffer than most saddles I have tried
the central area flexes by just a few millimetres
The foam padding doesn't have much give to it
either; I was able to push the short edge of a ruler into it by approximately 2mm
If I could rate the Merano on a level of stiffness scale
I would say it's a 9 out of 10 for stiffness
I tried pressing the short edge of a ruler into some other common saddle surfaces
I could get a Prologo Nago Evo to dent 7mm into the padding and get the saddle to "flex" or bend 4mm
I could get a Fizik Antares to dent 8mm into the padding
And a Planet X Superlight to dent 7mm into the padding and flex 7mm
If you are looking for a very rigid saddle
Merano rates the Corsa as comfortable for rides of 70 miles or so
because of how hard and stiff the central area is
I found my sit bones started to ache after about 25 to 30 miles
and if you like hard and stiff saddles you might get on with it better than I did
The Merano's £95 price, which includes free shipping to UK customers, is pretty good. The Giant Contact SLR
which also comes with a carbon shell and rails and which we also rated as a stiff saddle
The Syncros Tofino also costs £129.99
as well as a carbon-reinforced shell and carbon rails
> Buyer’s Guide: 15 of the best high-performance saddles
Merano also has a decent and fair returns policy – if you let the company know within three weeks from date of purchase that you intend to return the saddle
I found the Merano Corsa too stiff for the riding I do – mainly commuting during the week
with longer rides of 40-50 miles at the weekend
but I think adding 4-5mm of additional padding
and allowing a little more flex along the central cutout area would improve the comfort
with other products in the works from Merano
we will see future variants on the Corsa that can accommodate that
though some may find it too stiff and not cushioned enough
Tell us what the product is for and who it's aimed at
How does that compare to your own feelings about it
The Merano Corsa saddle is billed as blending a mix of comfort and speed
"The Corsa saddle was designed with comfort and speed in mind
along with super-light memory foam and fine leather skin
It is amongst the best in class in terms of weight and in a league of its own for ride quality."
Tell us some more about the technical aspects of the product
The Merano Corsa has a carbon fibre shell with a leather cover fixed by adhesive
5.5cm of marked adjustment fore and aft on the saddle rails
There is a very slight increase in height at the back
and cutouts at the rear and in the central channel for additional comfort
The saddle weighs in at slightly less than the advertised weight of 155g
The road.cc Scales of Truth showed it to come in at 151g dead on
The Merano Corsa looks very similar to the Specialized Toupe
and I had comments from several people who thought it was made by "the big S"
The Merano Corsa saddle feels well made; the leather shows no signs of wear after 400 miles of use
and appears well fixed to the carbon shell
I had no worries about any aspect of the saddle failing with repeated use
The Merano is stiffer than most saddles I have tried
and I was able to move around fore and aft in the saddle depending on how aero I wanted to be
It is a saddle for getting deep in the drops
No issues with wear and tear during the test
The saddle top and carbon rails remain unmarked
despite being moved a few times to get the correct fit during testing
and there's nothing to suggest it won't last well
Saddle comfort is subjective – what works for one person may feel completely the opposite for another
I found the Merano Corsa to be overly hard and stiff
with not enough padding or flex in the central area
I got other riders in my cycling group to give it a go and everyone commented that it was a very stiff saddle
I can't help thinking that it could appeal to a greater number of riders by adding another 4-5mm of foam padding depth
and enabling the central area to flex a little more
It stacks up well against the Giant Contact SLR and Syncros Tofino
both £129.99; £95 for a 151g saddle is a good price
Tell us how the product performed overall when used for its designed purpose
Merano rates the Corsa as comfortable for rides for 70 miles or so
and people who like hard and stiff saddles might get on with it better than I did
The Merano seems most suited to riding on the drops and on a good road surface
Tell us what you particularly liked about the product
Merano has a decent and fair returns policy too – let Merano know within three weeks from date of purchase if you intend to return and it will provide a full refund
Tell us what you particularly disliked about the product
I found the Merano Corsa too stiff for the riding I do – mainly commuting with longer rides at the weekend
I could feel each bump and pothole in the road
despite running 32mm tyres and on a relaxed gravel bike
With 4-5mm of additional padding and more flex along the central cutout area
How does the price compare to that of similar products in the market
At £95 including free shipping to UK based customers
and comes in at 184g; it too features a cutout and a firm ride
Would you recommend the product to a friend
If they wanted a very firm saddle with little flex
Use this box to explain your overall score
I wanted to like the Merano Corsa – it really looks the part and is well constructed
I found the lack of flex and stiffness too much for longer rides
but I'm giving it a 7 overall because saddle comfort is subjective
and it is a high quality model at a good price
I usually ride: GT Grade My best bike is: Boardman ASR 8.9
I've been riding for: Over 20 years I ride: Most days I would class myself as: Experienced

As mcvitees73 said this is just a generic chineese saddle
it's been on my winter bike for three years
I'm thinking of getting another for my summer bike
it must be used with a seat post designed for oval rails
you pays your rmoney and takes your chance
I once had a saddle with rails identical to these
They cracked after a few months of normal use (65kg rider
Perhaps these rails can survive seatposts with full top and bottom clamps (such as the Thomson seatposts) but beware anything with side-clamps or a rocker and two yokes
This is just a generic Chinese carbon saddle
I bought one on eBay for about £15 which is identical
Wouldn't recommend using on a mountain bike - edges gave my thighs bruises after I had to repeatidly do re-mount jumps in a race
Combination of saddle lack of padding and my ineptitude..
Exceptional all-day comfort delivered by advanced 3D zonal engineering – though it comes with a heavyweight price
but the very soft centre won't suit all riders
Ideal shape and design for performance riding

CBS12 News is learning more details about an attempted kidnapping in Palm Beach Gardens in an apartment complex typically described as safe by residents
The incident happened at the San Merano at Mirasol complex around 7 p.m
The mother of the two children involved in the incident did not want to go on camera or release her name
were playing outside in front of their apartment along with other neighborhood children as they always do on the weekends
The mother says she and her husband were inside making dinner
when she says their daughter started screaming for them to come outside
she says they saw a “white male grabbing their son and spinning him around.” Her daughter was trying to stop the suspect and that’s when the mother says he “pushed her daughters head down.”

She says multiple neighbors also heard the screams and quickly came out to help
That’s when she says a male neighbor knocked the suspect out
and they cornered him until law enforcement came and took him into custody
The mother described the male suspect as “mumbling
The mother tells CBS12 the suspect lives in this complex

PAWNEE — When lifelong baseball man Tony Duenas took over as head softball coach at Pawnee High School this spring
both parties — coach and players — knew some adjustment time would be needed
“There were a few times when (Duenas) would use baseball lingo that was a little different,” said Pawnee senior pitcher Madison Merano

The 476-unit San Merano at Mirasol apartment complex in Palm Beach Gardens was sold last week for $69.06 million
The sale of the nearly 30-acre property at 100 Portofino Circle closed on July 1
It was sold to an affiliate of Boston-based TA Realty Associates
"It's a great opportunity for them and we're pleased with the outcome," said Scott Webb
which sold the property through its affiliate the Grande at Mirasol Inc
"We have no more multi-family pieces and strategically it made sense for Kolter to do the transaction."
The Palm Beach County Property Appraiser's Office lists the 2009 total market value for the complex at $54.2 million
Kolter's purchase price for the property wasn't immediately available
Webb said the complex was an off-market sale
built the One City Plaza and Two City Plaza condo towers in downtown West Palm Beach
The San Merano at Mirasol is part of a larger community that includes the Country Club at Mirasol and Mirabella at Mirasol
Webb said his company had considered converting the San Merano apartments into condominiums
but decided against it as the real estate market collapsed
He said he believes TA Realty Associates will keep the development as apartments
"They are great operators of multi-family and will do great with the asset," Webb said

Merano is an alpine town in northern Italy with its own chess history.
The first pages of Merano’s chess history date back to the early fourteenth century, as evidenced by the chess symbols on the coins of the Tyrolean county “Meraner Kreuzer”, dated 1300.
In 1924 and 1926 Merano hosted some of the most important international tournaments of the early twentieth century with the participation of the strongest chess players, including E. Grunfeld, A. Rubinstein, S. Tarrasch, A. Seleznev, R. Spielman, E Colle.
In 1980 the finalist tournament between R. Huber and V. Korchnoi took place in Merano and in 1981 the game for the chess crown between A. Karpov and V. Korchnoi.

BUFFALO — It would be easy for Buffalo Tri-City High School softball players to lose their concentration in the field
who’s averaging almost 10 strikeouts a game
how often do her teammates have to come up with a key defensive play
But the Tornadoes were ready when the time came on Tuesday
when they committed just one error and came up with two fielding gems in the fourth inning of a 5-0 MSM Conference victory over previously unbeaten Pawnee
“My team definitely picked me up today,” said Shumaker
a senior right-hander who allowed four hits and posted her fifth shutout
Shumaker (7-1) struck out seven and walked two as the Tornadoes climbed to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the MSM
The teams will meet again Thursday at Pawnee
where the Indians are expected to go with junior right-hander Madison Merano
Merano is the main pitcher this week because Pawnee’s No
walked none and had a respectable performance overall
Five of the Tornadoes’ nine hits were of the infield variety
and Merano allowed just three earned runs as the Indians committed three errors
“This was (Merano’s) third start of the season
who’s served as Pawnee head coach since the death of Jim Salzeider on March 22
I give (Shumaker) credit for keeping our bats quiet most of the way.”
Tri-City’s three-run second inning started with back-to-back singles by Shumaker and Hunt
with Shumaker drilling one off the fence in left center
A Pawnee error and a Lexie Jarrett sacrifice fly made it 1-0
Megan Spain laid down a squeeze bunt that turned into a hit to make it 2-0
The Tornadoes added a run in the third when Kyla Haukap led off with a single and later scored on Stephanie Watkins’ sacrifice fly
Tri-City’s Lexie Jarett reached on a Pawnee error to lead off the fourth and later scored on Katie Price’s infield hit
After right fielder Haukap robbed Shelby Thornton with a running catch of Thornton’s drive to right center to start the inning
The Indians eventually had runners at second and third with two out
But Tri-City shortstop Haley Daniels went to her right to collect a hard-hit grounder by Becky Rhoades
and Daniels made a long throw to first to get Rhoades on a close play
“We’ve been solid defensively so far,” said Tri-City coach Brad Sturdy
“We got a lot of mileage out of Leah; she’s striking out a lot of people
But (Pawnee) put the ball out there a little more
but we need the other team to put the ball in play
I’m happy with what we’ve done because we’ve got some people in positions they haven’t played for a while.”
