we're hearing from the victim of Monday's road rage incident on Lakeside Drive in Lynchburg
Nancy Campagnino is now behind bars following the incident
as well as charges of vandalism and disorderly conduct
"There was no actual car-on-car accident at all," she said
"Her braking and getting out of her car happened so fast
I actually had my windows halfway down at the time
I honestly can't remember exactly what she was saying
'You're the one who pulled out in front of me.' That's when she hit my window
and at that point I just rolled my windows up
I think that I only said a few words to her."
In what Miano said was a 9-10 minute incident
Campagnino got on top of the car's hood while yelling profanities and threats
before breaking off the windshield wipers and cracking the windshield
EARLIER: ROAD RAGE VIDEO: Woman jumps on car, cracking windshield; charges filed, LPD says
Miano said multiple cars stopped to make sure she was okay throughout the incident
including one man who took Campagnino's keys out of her car
"I didn't realize it at the time
but I guess sometime in between him getting on the phone with 911 and her breaking my windshield
he actually reached into her car and took out her car keys so she couldn't flee the scene," Miano said
did try to get back in her car and drive off
When she realized she couldn't do that
she got back out of her car and approached him."
She said the man then put Campagnino into a hold until police arrived and took her into custody
and she's just glad that everyone is okay
The incident has gone viral on social media
sparking feedback from thousands of people who've shared what they'd do in the situation; from driving off with Campagnino on the hood to engaging with the suspect
you never know what you'd actually do
"It's easy for people to say what they would do in a situation like this
but until you're genuinely in the situation
it is very hard to articulate the steps that you need to take
if I were to watch this video and it was somebody else in my car
I would probably have a different answer to how I would react
versus how I actually reacted in the situation," Miano said
"Harming her just never came into my thought process throughout that entire thing
I just wanted to make sure that everyone got home at the end of the night."
Lynchburg Police told ABC13 that Miano did exactly what you should do in a road rage situation; she stayed calm
didn't engage and called authorities to handle it
They said if you ever find yourself in a road rage situation

WATCHROAD RAGE VIDEO: Woman jumps on car
(WSET) — A chaotic scene unfolded Monday afternoon on Lakeside Drive after a woman was caught on camera jumping on another car
ultimately ripping a windshield wiper off and cracking the window
ABC13 obtained video of the incident after footage was posted on social media
Several camera angles show a woman wearing purple who appears to have gotten out of her car to confront a driver behind her
One clip shows her perched on the car hood
pounding on the window while shrieking at the driver inside
Give me this b****!" She yells at one point in the video
ABC13 reached out to police to find out what happened
According to the Lynchburg Police Department
the woman wearing purple is named Nancy Campagnino
"The initial call that came in was of a caller that had explained that Ms
Campagnino pulled out into the roadway in front of her," LPD said
Campagnino exited her vehicle and the disorderly behavior began."
More of that behavior caught on camera included video recorded from inside the caller's vehicle
showing Campagnino ripping away the windshield wiper and beating on the windshield
She was also seen standing in front of another vehicle
blocking it from passing around the disturbance

We spoke to the woman who was driving the car Campagnino jumped onto
Ashton Miano echoed what police had said; she said she was driving on Lakeside Drive when Campagnino pulled out in front of her
"I never even really spoke to her; when she approached my car I asked what she was doing
as she was the one who pulled out in front of me," she recalled
adding that the first part of the conversation happened through her partially driver-side window
But then Miano said Campagnino hit her window
She couldn't get around Campagnino's car since there was too much traffic around her
so she said she had to sit and watch the scene unfold
"I was honestly just dumbfounded by what was happening
I was on the phone with 911 the majority of the time and was talking to the operator while everything was unfolding till the cops arrived on scene," Miano said
"I became fearful when she actually busted my windshield with her foot as I thought she was going to actually bust through the glass."
She said she never really considered trying to move her car while Campagnino was on it because she didn't want to hurt her and knew police were on the way
At one point she said a bystander had to get involved to stop Compagnino from trying to fight him until law enforcement arrived
she said she was grateful for the help from others
"Multiple people stopped to make sure I was okay and I am very grateful for them and the bystander that detained her till the police arrived," she said
Miano said the final damages to her car were the cracked windshield
and dents on the hood and roof of her car where Campagnino jumped on it
LPD said Compagnino was arrested and charged with two counts of assault
and one count of vandalism/intentional property damage

Kenya's Tourism Ministry has overhauled its electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) system
introducing instant approvals to address initial challenges and criticisms levelled against the program
Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano announced the revisions on Wednesday
emphasizing that the streamlined eTA now offers a faster and more cost-effective alternative to traditional visas
The eTA fee remains at $30/£24 (Sh3,900) and is valid for 90 days
The revamped system aims to enhance accessibility and openness
particularly in response to an African Union report that downgraded Kenya's visa openness rating
A key improvement is the exemption of all African nations that allow Kenyans visa-free entry from the eTA requirement
the eTA now permits multiple entries into Kenya within a three-month period
granting greater flexibility to travellers
"The eTA has been made multiple entries so that if you go to Kenya and go back to your country
you can come back for about three months," Miano explains
The ministry is also developing a multiple-entry eTA specifically for cruise ship tourists arriving at the port of Mombasa
previously announced by President William Ruto during the docking of the MS Norwegian Cruise
seeks to eliminate paperwork and expedite processing for cruise passengers
Kenya initially declared itself a visa-free country in January 2024
replacing visa requirements with the eTA system for all visitors
with some describing the eTA as a "visa under another name" due to stringent requirements and lengthy processing times
Miano has assured the public that the revised eTA process has addressed these concerns
resulting in a significant reduction in complaints
The ministry anticipates that these changes will make Kenya more accessible to international visitors

This follows the submission of Kenya’s proposal to all UN Tourism Member States on March 21
April 8 – Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano is in Livingstone
to advocate for Kenya’s membership in the United Nations (UN) Tourism Executive Council for the 2025-2029 term
The UN Tourism Executive Council is a key decision-making body responsible for overseeing the operations of the organization. It ensures compliance with the UN Tourism budget and policies while playing a critical role in shaping strategic directions and addressing global challenges in the tourism sector.
CS Miano, attending the second UN Tourism Africa and Americas Ministerial Summit, emphasized the importance of fostering international collaboration to boost tourism.
She highlighted the need for enhanced connectivity and the implementation of friendlier visa facilitation policies among participating countries.
“Providing an opportunity on how best to bolster tourism sector growth through enhanced connectivity and friendlier visa facilitation policies among participating countries,” Miano said in a statement.
“Sharing and learning best practices on fostering resilience and crisis management in the tourism sector in unfavourable times of outbreaks, natural calamities, conflicts, and climate change, among others.”
This advocacy aligns with Kenya’s efforts to boost tourism and foreign currency inflows.
Last year, the country recorded 2.4 million international visitors, reflecting a 14.6 percent growth compared to 2023. The top five source markets for tourism in Kenya were the United States, Uganda, Tanzania, the United Kingdom, and India.
The United States led the pack with 306,501 visitors, accounting for 12.8 percent of total international arrivals from the top five markets. Tanzania and Uganda followed closely with 225,559 and 203,290 visitors, respectively.
Kenya’s participation in the UN Tourism Executive Council would strengthen its role in global tourism discussions and further enhance its position as a competitive destination in Africa.
