The world of rare Ferraris is about to see one of its brightest stars emerge from private obscurity. A 1995 Ferrari F50, originally ordered and owned by fashion legend Ralph Lauren
is now set to cross the auction block at RM Sotheby’s upcoming Monterey Auction on August 15
Cloaked in the rare Giallo Modena yellow finish
this particular F50 is one of just two U.S.-spec examples ever produced in this vivid hue
making it an extraordinary offering in an already elite category of automobiles
Ordered new by Lauren at the peak of Ferrari’s 50th-anniversary celebrations
this example has enjoyed an ultra-private existence
having only changed hands once in over two decades
combined with its pristine condition and stunning rarity
is expected to push bidding estimates close to the $7 million USD mark
the Ferrari F50 was designed to offer drivers as close an experience to piloting a Formula 1 car as possible
At its heart lies a naturally aspirated 4.7-liter V12
derived directly from Ferrari’s 1992 F1 engine
delivering 513 horsepower and a thrilling top speed of 202 mph
The car’s Formula 1-inspired carbon fiber monocoque chassis
and raw analog driving dynamics make it a standout even among Ferrari’s illustrious hypercar lineage
which embraced forced induction through turbocharging
the F50 returned to naturally aspirated roots
favoring immediacy and purity over raw forced power
This dedication to analog driving has made the F50 particularly sought after by collectors who value tactile performance and emotional connection over sheer speed figures
While Ferrari’s classic Rosso Corsa remains the most recognizable shade across the marque’s history
this F50’s Giallo Modena finish underscores its exceptional rarity
Only two U.S.-spec F50s were delivered in this striking yellow
setting it apart from the majority painted in traditional Ferrari red
It’s a color that pays homage both to Ferrari’s Modenese roots and the daring spirit of bespoke automotive commissions
Ralph Lauren’s choice of Giallo Modena reflects not only his discerning eye for style but also his appreciation for the artistry behind automotive design
Known for his meticulously curated car collection
Lauren’s decision to commission his F50 in such a rare colorway makes this vehicle even more compelling to prospective buyers
the F50 remained under Lauren’s stewardship for eight years before being sold in 2003
the car has been lovingly maintained by a private collector
kept out of the public eye and driven sparingly
accumulating fewer than 5,400 miles in its lifetime
The F50 has not been publicly displayed since 2009
the vehicle’s authenticity and condition are beyond reproach
It underwent a comprehensive service in late 2024
ensuring that it is both mechanically sound and cosmetically flawless
making it one of the most transparent and desirable F50s to ever hit the open market
When the gavel drops at RM Sotheby’s Monterey Auction
bidders will be vying for more than just a rare Ferrari—they’ll be competing for a piece of automotive and cultural history
and rare Giallo Modena specification creates a trifecta of desirability that few cars can match
Given the scarcity of F50s in general—only 349 units were ever built worldwide—the addition of this example’s pedigree and color rarity positions it to be one of the highlights of the entire Monterey Car Week
and provenance will find few opportunities as compelling as this
Preserving Ferrari’s F1 Spirit for the Road
The Ferrari F50 stands today as a monument to a bygone era where the boundaries between race track technology and road car performance were more daringly blurred
With its V12 howling to an 8,500 rpm redline
the F50 delivers a symphony of mechanical engagement that few modern hypercars can replicate
offering an unfiltered driving experience that resonates deeply with traditionalists
visceral reminder of Ferrari’s racing heritage—one that prioritizes emotion
and sensation over lap times and spec sheets
And when combined with the storied past of a figure like Ralph Lauren
this particular F50 transforms from a remarkable machine into a veritable cultural artifact
As RM Sotheby’s prepares to offer this magnificent F50 to the world
it represents an opportunity not just to own a rare Ferrari
For the fortunate few with the resources and appreciation to recognize its significance
this Giallo Modena F50 promises to be an irreplaceable addition to any serious collection

This move is part of a broader initiative to focus on the production of premium models at the Modena site
Automotive manufacturer Stellantis is planning to relocate its Maserati production from Turin site to the less-utilised facility in Modena, Italy, reported Bloomberg citing people familiar with the situation
This strategic move is part of a broader initiative to concentrate on the production of premium models such as the Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio at the Modena site
The decision aligns with Stellantis chairman John Elkann’s efforts to strengthen the company’s relationship with the Italian government
The latest transition is expected to be complemented by an increase in hybrid Fiat 500 production in Turin
which will compensate for the Maserati output shift
the company is focusing on revitalising the Maserati brand
which experienced a significant drop in deliveries in 2024 due to product range gaps and “misguided” electric strategy
Stellantis is looking to mend ties with Italian government after a period of tension under former CEO Carlos Tavares
whose focus on cost-cutting led to strained relations
Don’t let policy changes catch you off guard
Stay proactive with real-time data and expert analysis
The company has committed to a $2bn investment in Italy this year and has assured no closure of Italian factories
marking a departure from the previous cost-cutting approach
Recent developments at Stellantis include plans to recruit over 100 engineers at the Mirafiori site in Turin and to start manufacturing electrified dual-clutch transmissions at the Termoli plant
the Modena factory produced only 260 cars last year
In December, Stellantis announced an extension of the production halt at the Mirafiori plant until 20 January 2025
following an initial stoppage that began on 2 December and was intended to last until 5 January

MODENA VALLEY, Utah — Residents in a sparsely populated area of Iron County are speaking out against a contractor that's asking the county to allow them to build a mine.
Progressive Contracting of St. George wants to extract pozzolan, an additive for concrete, in an area of Modena Valley known as Nelson Canyon. Residents say the 9-mile dirt road can’t sustain the dozens of trucks per day that would go to and from the site.
They also say the silica dust kicked up will create a health risk.
"It's a sin, an actual sin. If they destroy what we're gonna look at here," said Mike Poynor, a Modena Valley resident, as he gestured toward a towering rock formation locals call Ghost Rock.
Poynor and his neighbors — an estimated eight to nine families that call this secluded valley home — have lived peacefully alongside the wild horses, elk, and wild turkeys that roam the area, accessible only by a nine-mile dirt road.
"What we love here is that we don't have to put up with a lot of traffic. What do we see? Four cars a month?" Poynor said.
Residents recently learned that the Iron County Planning Commission was holding a hearing on Feb. 5 to consider changing the area's zoning from agricultural to allow a mining operation by Progressive Contracting.
"The first anybody up here heard about this was the first of the month. The hearing was on the 5th. Only by word of mouth. There were no posters put on the road here to alert anybody," said Robert Shear, another Modena Valley resident.
The proposed mine would extract pozzolan, a concrete additive, from the area — a move that could result in as many as 80 trucks per day rumbling up and down the valley's lone access road.
"Just to change this land use for the purposes of something that will be so ugly and will never be undone. Once it's done, this area is going to be destroyed forever," Shear lamented.
Representatives from Progressive Contracting did not respond to FOX 13 News' requests for comment. However, during the Planning Commission hearing, company president Russell Limb argued that mining pozzolan is an environmentally friendly initiative, as its use in cement powder requires a lower carbon footprint.
But the residents are not convinced, citing concerns over the silica dust that the mining would churn up.
"It's a health hazard is what it is. It's a plain and flat health hazard," Poynor said.
Studies have shown that exposure to silica dust from pozzolan mining can cause skin and eye irritation, and can also aggravate respiratory distress.
The Iron County Planning Commission opted to table a decision on the zone change until March 4.
"They're talking about making money. We're talking about our homes. Not everything can be about money," Poynor said, summing up the residents' concerns.
From micromachining atoms to automotives: BENEDETTO VIGNA was one of Europe’s leading physicists and a pioneer in the field of micro-electromechanical systems before assuming the reins of the Cavallino Rampante as Ferrari’s CEO
the landscape of Maranello is rather barren
the more people you see at bus stops and on the sidewalks who wear red workshop suits with the Cavallino on the chest and the Italian flag on the left sleeve
Everyone in this region is proud to work for Ferrari
The austerity and functionality contrast with Italian elegance as soon as you enter the premises through the historic gate that has stood in place since Enzo Ferrari founded the company in 1948: the blackest of loafers
and John Elkann (chairperson of Stellantis) strolling between factory halls on the phone
The latest Ferrari models are lined up on the second floor
and CEO Benedetto Vigna gives me a rare interview on a bar stool
ULF POSCHARDT: We’re in Ferrari’s new E-Building – it looks great
We built these buildings to create an inspiring environment for our employees
Even if technology and innovation will play an important role here in the future
Innovation that doesn’t have people as its focal point will never be truly successful
UP: Why is the building called the E-Building
Three types of Ferraris will be produced here: combustion engines; hybrid Ferraris; and
there will be a Ferrari that is completely electrically powered
Humanism also means that we put our customers at the center of everything we do
They should always have the opportunity to decide which technology they want to use and enjoy
We’ve made the vow to be carbon neutral by 2030–and we will fulfill this promise
In addition to energy efficient production
this [process] will include a corresponding product portfolio
This is how Ferrari will become sustainable
The craftsmanship involved in assembling a Ferrari from scratch relies mostly on the workers
This commitment to quality means that buyers have to wait up to 18 months to receive their object of desire
the blue chassis of a Ferrari Roma is about to enter the assembly line
Are you also becoming sustainable in your production
we don’t want to flood the world with cars
Ferrari doesn’t want to increase production numbers
We don’t want to push the quantity of cars but the quality of them
UP: People who already own a Ferrari will be particularly happy about that
Our customers are very conscious consumers
They also understand the importance of environmental awareness
We care deeply about the environment; we see it as a moral obligation
And we can significantly reduce emissions with this building – for instance
through the solar panels on the roof that allow us to turn off the generators
We will … use green energy [exclusively] in this building
and the building was constructed on the site of a demolished warehouse
We didn’t want to waste a new plot for building
How does that go together with a 12-cylinder SUV
This apparent contradiction doesn’t hold up to rational scrutiny
There’s only one way to convince people to reduce CO2: you have to take a scientific approach and give logical arguments
I’ve always found the Germans to be very rational
And the decisive factor is the car’s CO2 footprint over its entire life cycle
we emitted 16 percent more CO2 than we do today
even though we’ve increased production volumes
we’re on the verge of using recycled aluminum
Maranello’s Red House keeps their production levels low
selling only around 13,000 vehicles each year and thereby reinforcing an aura of exclusivity
what matters is the entire life cycle of a car
And I’m convinced that CO2-neutral fuels will become a reality – I deliberately say CO2-neutral and not synthetic
And there’s a lot of nonsense on the internet
Half-truths are sometimes used in the climate discussion
BV: We have always said that technological change doesn’t happen overnight
A comprehensive transformation in reducing CO2 takes time if it’s going to be done properly and sustainably
We are convinced that several propulsion technologies will coexist for some time
and that it is our responsibility to make them available to our customers – this also applies to the electric motor
UP: Ferrari is a brand that never wanted to be fashionable
It understood style as something self-evident
What is your view of Enzo’s selection of design partners
BV: Enzo had a passion for engines – and look what it achieved
We work to remain faithful to his vision every day
The state-of-the-art V12 in our new 12Cilindri can trace its roots back to Gioacchino Colombo’s legendary engine design that powered the first true Ferrari
But while he enthused and obsessed over engines
He was very selective in choosing design partners
who understood that true style is timeless
They carry on this tradition for timeless elegance and ensure that a Ferrari is forever
a V8 (eight-cylinder) engine of a Ferrari Roma
and two shots of a V6 engine with trademark damper and crankcase details
It takes over five days to assemble the hundreds of intricate components that make up the iconic Ferrari engine
This fixation has deep roots: founder Enzo Ferrari used to joke that he didn’t sell cars
the Club of Rome pointed out that every beautiful thing that you don’t throw away is sustainable
And nobody throws away a Ferrari with a combustible engine
they don’t make any sound – when you get into the car
But that doesn’t necessarily have to be the case
You can drive it quite fast on the racetrack
UP: Tesla fans like to say that a classic Ferrari can’t compete with electric cars when it comes to acceleration
But that’s like comparing a kitchen to a microwave
If you sit behind the wheel of a flat-12 Ferrari
It’s because you’re an automobile connoisseur
It’s a combination of these senses that evokes emotion
It’s not enough that an electric car accelerates faster
the pleasure of a Ferrari is a highly subjective experience triggered by emotions
Prospective owners of a Ferrari must adhere to a strict set of rules
including avoiding any tampering with the iconic badge and refraining from repainting the car pink
we have people who are better at this than anyone else: our test drivers
the test drivers were still nine levels below the CEO – now they report directly to me
People like Raffaele de Simone can feel every gram of excess weight on the car
And they have an infallible sense for the right balance of lateral acceleration
Simply installing speakers that make noise is not something we are interested in doing
But to get back to the test drivers: someone like Raffaele knows what makes a Ferrari special
because he’s been driving one for decades and decades
If Raffaele is happy with an electric Ferrari
UP: To think and manage like that is also a form of humanism
Ferrari is so successful because it has been able to combine its past and myth with innovation and transformation
The German philosopher Martin Heidegger once said that the past is the future
is it your job to make sure it stays that way
you have to be aware of that fact that we are all guardians of the brand in our own way
you have to be able to connect to the past and the future
where the value of tradition is basically zero – that is
I try to synchronize the past and the future
UP: Is Ferrari one of the most magical companies because the history of the founder
Lampredi – and designers and drivers all end up contributing to the brand
From Ascari to Lauda to Michael Schumacher
BV: Ferrari is special; everyone can feel it when they come to Maranello
There’s an authentic magic to the place that originates in Enzo Ferrari’s life
and from Colombo to the talented engineers I work with today
Our founder captured it perfectly when he said
I believe Ferrari is made most of all by people.”
Enzo Ferrari rarely left Modena and Maranello
Is it a sign of genius when you can understand the world from your village
BV: I believe true genius can thrive anywhere
Enzo saw the world through the lens of a small town
But his charisma ensured that the world came to him
international businessmen – they all came here to share the Ferrari dream
Enzo turned an agricultural village into the world capital of luxury sports cars
which we just won for the second time in a row
Vigna’s personal philosophy is encapsulated in the script on the Chinese scrolls hanging in his office
“Quick action and decision are the keys to success.”
Competition is the drive to do things better
the purpose of this company is very simple – to constantly redefine the limits of what’s possible
Ferrari also demonstrates that passion is the real success of the brand
The jubilation in Monza after Leclerc’s victory was [possible only] at Ferrari
BV: The victory at Monza was pure joy for me
Those two victories were the best gift I could receive on my third anniversary with Ferrari
You can’t imagine how many messages I got from clients and tifosi from all over the world
UP: We might have an AI in the future that is so perfect that it no longer makes mistakes – isn’t that inhuman
Because you’ll cease to exist if you’re perfect
There’s even a wonderful saying where I’m from in southern Italy: the coffin comes when you think your house is done
UP: Another strikingly humanistic and existential statement …
the younger generation is slowly losing the ability to deal with uncertainty
We used to be more accustomed to living with uncertainty
Sales wizards have been incredibly successful in convincing car manufacturers to adopt technologies that create the illusion of perfect mobility
But Ferrari is about something different: whether you’re driving an old Testarossa
UP: Will there be self-driving Ferraris in the future
The future belongs to those who are able to say
but always with the awareness that we can’t lose touch with reality
UP: Enzo Ferrari … spoke the dialect of the farmers in this region
despite all the Instagram hype and bubbles of the super-rich
As every sports car fan and racing driver knows
you end up crashing if you lose your grip on reality
where all the families of our employees are invited
BV: I was lucky enough to be invited for a ride by a friend of mine in California
Ferrari was designed for the European aristocracy and the bourgeois elite on Lake Como
The global markets have entirely changed now
Ferrari [and its personnel] have been masters in creating a very European aesthetic and culture
BV: Divide America up into its individual states and imagine that the United States has been split up
Which would be the country where we sell the most Ferraris
Numbers three and four are Italy and China
UP: I’m glad the cars don’t look very German
And from my travels and encounters at my old company
I’ve come to admire the German middle class very much … but unfortunately
UP: Just one last request as a Ferrari customer
Some sports car brands have flooded the market
We will always maintain the highest level of exclusivity – we will always have one car less than the demand
With an auction estimate set between $6.5 and $7.5 million
Every passionate automotive enthusiast knows the story of the Ferrari F50

MODENA is now reshaping its brand story—anchoring itself not only in technology
With a bold new vision centred on "human-centric innovation," the company is expanding its scope to create tangible impact beyond the home
At the heart of this evolution is Pure Hub
a clean water initiative poised to redefine how MODENA connects with Indonesian communities
Launched to improve public access to clean drinking water
Pure Hub is arguably MODENA's clearest step yet into socially conscious territory—placing refill stations in public places
These stations—funded by the company and free to use—are being strategically placed in high-traffic areas
with a focus on underserved urban locations
The aim is simple: meet people where they are and empower sustainable behaviour with every refill
the brand is laying the foundation for a fully connected lifestyle
led by innovations in smart home technology
From smart light bulbs to water dispensers
the platform integrates wellness and supports modern
Waste reduction also plays a growing role in MODENA's mission
with the company drawing on its kitchen heritage to promote awareness around food waste and sustainable consumption habits
MARKETING-INTERACTIVE sat down with Nicole Jizhar (pictured)
to unpack the brand's evolving innovation suite—and what it signals for the future
Don't miss: Dignity, dentures, and data: How Haleon went hyperlocal to restore smiles
The purified drinking water initiative aligns closely with MODENA's membership in the UN Global Compact
shaping communications that emphasise transparency and collective well-being
The brand is also using the project to advocate for reusable containers
helping combat Indonesia's mounting plastic waste issue
MODENA plans to open 20 Pure Hubs within the next five years
in partnership with local communities to identify impactful locations
a wellness-focused lifestyle hub catering to active families and young eco-conscious consumers—MODENA's ideal demographic
we were thrilled with the pilot—it was a strategic location with strong foot traffic from families and commuters
and that encouraged us to roll out in more locations," Jizhar said
One initial challenge was navigating areas where water vendors were already present
"We had to weigh the pros and cons and figure out how to introduce a new habit without disrupting the existing ecosystem," she said
and communities are now more receptive as they notice a clear shift in preference: people are carrying their tumblers everywhere
MODENA is tapping into the water bottle culture—fuelled by the rise of brands such as Stanley Cups
it's not what we're expecting in terms of revenue generation
"It helps build a stronger sense of community
and trust—that we're a company that genuinely cares."
Reception to the roll-out has been positive
with enthusiastic public response and social media buzz amplifying awareness and strengthening the programme's reach. Jizhar revealed that MODENA have a few big projects lined up with developers and public transportation players who are keen to integrate Pure Hub into larger-scale initiatives
When asked about MODENA's recent membership in the UN Global Compact
Jizhar called it a proud moment—marking the brand as the first in Southeast Asia's consumer technology space to join
She also shared that a dedicated MODENA sustainability report is underway
signalling the brand's commitment to transparency and long-term impact
MODENA's sustainability roadmap includes initiatives in solar energy and food waste management
These future-forward solutions are a natural extension of the brand's appliance expertise and a sign of its expanding presence in high-potential categories such as energy
users can adjust their smart home settings—including lighting that changes colour and brightness based on their sleep-wake cycle—mimicking natural sunlight to support healthier daily rhythms
"We want to create a whole home ecosystem where we don't just sell stoves
and solar panels powering products with clean energy from the sun
Everything is complete so we can truly make life easier—where your whole home is connected," said Jizhar
"Many consumers know MODENA from their parents
staying relevant means balancing longevity with the evolving needs of future buyers," she added
MODENA's push into smart home and solar innovations only began in the past two years
and while Jizhar acknowledges the competitive landscape
she's confident in MODENA's unique positioning as an all-in-one player in Indonesia—offering everything from major appliances such as refrigerators to smaller IoT-powered products
"We want to be able to accommodate everything," she said
we also prioritise wellness and personalisation."
the MODENA Seamless app connects to devices such as CCTV cameras
and water heaters—all of which can be remotely controlled
its smart water dispensers — deemed as the first of its kind — enable precise temperature control—not just hot or cold
This is especially important for families with babies
The dispensers also predict how much water is left
an innovation that stemmed from a university collaboration where the winning student team designed a gallon-sensing technology
MODENA is partnering with water suppliers to enable automatic refills
This smart home concept is drawing attention from property developers
too—particularly as more young Indonesians adapt to independent living without domestic helpers
MODENA has extended its sustainability efforts into food waste education—offering workshops on plant-based diets and responsible cooking
equipping them with knowledge to build food businesses while fostering a network of culinary professionals and chefs through live demos and collaborations
MODENA traces its roots back to the Emilia Romagna region of Italy
where it emerged in the 1960s as one of the foremost producers of freestanding cookers
recognising Asia's vast potential in manufacturing
MODENA strategically shifted its operations eastward
the company had firmly established itself as a leading household appliance brand in Asia
and beyond. Its vision today is shaped by a commitment to enhancing the human experience—making life not only easier
MODENA has established its footprint in the heart of Indonesia's major cities
with a presence in over 40 locations and counting
The brand has 32 modern retail channels across Indonesia and reaches consumers through more than 100 direct channels—including eCommerce platforms
While the brand's legacy lies in high-quality appliances
MODENA is keen to reposition itself as both aspirational and accessible
are not a luxury—they are a public service
Such initiatives are also deeply personal for the leadership team
always had a spirit of giving back," said Jizhar
"That's why we have the Tomas Jizhar Foundation
it's crucial for MODENA to think of our long-term future—and it's part of my role to be the voice of that."

And where better to get under its skin than the Old military Road
a spectacular ribbon of asphalt that runs up the spine of this National Park
It has everything you’ve ever dreamed of in a road
screamed the cover of the July 1994 issue of Performance Car magazine (evo’s forefather) as it clanked through our letter box
clocked the “Ferrari’s £84,000 bargain” sub-heading with mouth agape
then ruefully pondered on it as I read and re-read the feature aboard the school bus bound for secondary school
I have lusted after this relatively simple supercar
watching values plummet but remain far out of reach
and then seeing prices accelerate away once again
driving one has never been a disappointment
I’m genuinely fearful the needle on the evo meter might bend and break against the stop
The root of the F355 story is one of motoring’s eternal pub-talk favourites: the Ferrari 348 was a rotter
I’m not saying those early 348 TBs weren’t poor
perceived truths become distilled and streamlined into a simple narrative all too comfortable to repeat
but it was that arguably complacent early 348 that looked so half-hearted next to Honda’s sparkling NSX
a car that redefined the concept of a useable supercar
> Ferrari 812 Superfast (2017 - 2024) review – a V12 GT with hypercar intensity
the result being a very thorough evolution of the 348
Although closely related to those late-model 348s
the F355 was a massive step forward and also heralded the return of the beautiful Ferrari after the brash brutality of the 1980s machines
The flat-plane crank V8 doesn’t actually sound that good when you’re just ambling along
hard-edged like the tip of an industrial drill
It’s only when you exceed 5,500rpm that it homogenises into something petrolheads like us would call musical
which is precisely the point when the F355 pulls itself taut and accelerates with real determination
> Ferrari SF90 Stradale (2019 – 2024) review – Maranello’s flawed 986bhp hyper hybrid
The steel monocoque body, tubular steel rear subframe and unequal wishbones were all Italian supercar staples left fundamentally alone, but Ferrari worked on everything else, rethinking the chassis again from the GTB, incorporating bigger wheels, two-stage electronic dampers and power steering.
The gearbox was now rod operated, not a cable mechanism as on the 348, while more emphasis was placed on aerodynamics with a flip up rear spoiler incorporated into the body, and crucially, a flat undertray.
What, then, of that body? The pictures tell a story with more clarity than I could ever hope to equal, but go on, indulge me. The F355’s shape is surprisingly cab-forward in profile, the frontal aspect dating the car the most with its flat snout hiding ‘pop-up’ lights, technology from another distant age.
Things get sexier around the sides with the crisp flying buttresses (the last Ferrari to feature this styling device, and also the F355’s biggest corrosion weak-spot) and the loss of the side strakes allowing clean, gaping intakes. But for me the real beauty of the F355 is its bum, specifically the form of those rear wheel arches, their curvature and the perfect bone line that runs through them, then the way it all flows effortlessly, coquettishly into the small integral rear spoiler.
This F355’s ‘Crema’ leather seats are probably what you’d visualise if I said “classic Ferrari interior”. It is disarmingly simple, notably ‘slabby’ around the upper ring of the cockpit, surprisingly ‘normal’ – and for that read ‘comfortable’ - and features one item that more than any other gets the blood flowing through the veins in anticipation: an open gate manual gearbox.
To make genuinely rapid progress in a F355 you need to keep the engine spinning between 6,000rpm-8,000rpm+ almost exclusively. Oh man, what a chore. Only kidding – driven thus a F355 is pure bliss, with seemingly no limit to the speed with which cogs can be swapped, the engine revving tirelessly, and the noise consuming everything. Academic now as then, the 0-62mph time of 4.7sec, on the way to its 183mph top speed.
The F355 isn’t intimidating partly because it doesn’t feel that potent through the mid-range. This may have something to do with this example being a later model, or a ‘5.2 Motronic’ car to be precise. F355 aficionados will be aware that when the car was launched it was equipped with a more primitive Bosch 2.7 Motronic system that had two air mass flow sensors, two fuel pumps and two lambda sensors amongst other differences, all clearly visible in the engine bay.
After the twitchiness of a 348 TB it takes only 500 yards to get a sense that the F355 is going to be a faithful friend, malleable, exploitable, enjoyable. It rides like a pliantly suspended sled, with the feeling that the track is broad and of a sticky big tyre right at the extremities of each corner.
My only wish – ok, bar a little more torque – is for a slightly quicker steering rack. The F355 is always beautifully poised on the road, but that initial turn in to a corner is never quite as precise as you’d hope, always requiring a few degrees more lock than the brain expects is required. The car is never quite as agile in reality as you know deep down it could be.

The 50 Best Champions of Change 2024 run a supportive sisterhood training the city’s newest chefs
The initiative has already helped 43 women from 19 different countries – and there are no plans to slow down
‘I felt really confident doing my first job interview in Italian’
are just some of the WhatsApp messages Caroline Caporossi and Jessica Rosval receive on a regular basis from graduates of their paid culinary training programme
“Our organisation is beautiful because we’re always getting good news from our graduates and we’re always celebrating each other’s success stories,” Caporossi says
Friends Caporossi and Rosval met in 2017 at Osteria Francescana on Caporossi’s first day on an internship at Food for Soul
a non-profit founded by Chef Massimo Bottura and Lara Gilmore to shine light on the invisible potential of people
Rosval was born in Canada and went to culinary school in Montréal
After meeting Massimo Bottura at the end of her birthday meal at Osteria Francescana
she was working in the kitchen just two months later
she took over running external events and has been the head chef at Bottura’s Casa Maria Luigia boutique hotel since 2019.“I was really nervous and I didn’t know anyone,” recalls Caporossi of their first encounter
“I walked through the kitchen and Jessica was super confident and said
let me know.’ It was a warm welcome and we became friends instantly.”Jessica Rosval and Caroline Caporossi at The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2024 awards
and the pair founded The Association for the Integration of Women
migrant women living in Modena – and throughout the European Union – access to work opportunities is limited
The mission statement of the non-profit is ‘to provide resources for women to spread roots and flourish’
a social enterprise restaurant which has a professional
paid training programme for migrant women passionate about food and becoming cooks
The students stay for four months and develop their experience
self-confidence – and have the support of the team to help connect them to jobs after graduating
At The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2024 awards in Las Vegas, Caporossi and Rosval became Champions of Change
“Winning the Champions of Change award for Roots is extraordinary,” Rosval says
“It's an opportunity to really talk about what we're doing
a space where we can say this is an incredible
self-sustainable model that helps our community
And it's something that could be reproduced around the world
It's something that we hope and dream becomes this contagious idea that people open in their own cities
There are people all over the world who have enormous potential and having that unlocked
maybe with a hand from an organisation like Roots
is life changing.”Trainees learn Italian as part of their four-month programme at Roots
Planting the seed But how did it all begin
Caporossi grew up in the US – her great grandparents were Italian immigrants
she found her passion working at a non-profit which supported Latin American women who had survived crime or domestic violence
started out teaching English at a daycare school
and eventually found her way back to her passion with an internship at Food for Soul
learn Italian and make friends and connections in the city
she started to see the same young woman asking for money on the street
We both arrived in Modena in Italy the same year
But while I was able to find my first internship and job opportunity and integrate
she hadn’t.”The food at Roots showcases the beauty of the diversity that exists in the Modena community
“What brought her to Italy was that she wanted to become the first woman in her family to work
I found myself in front of this woman who had all the same ambition and drive to establish herself that I did
But she was even more brave because she had to face a lot more to get here and moved a lot further with many more unknowns in front of her,” she explains
Caporossi connected Ella to her first job in a kitchen
work contracts and cultural mediation – although these weren’t necessarily things Caporossi was an expert in herself
The seed was planted and the idea began to grow
“Around that time I came to Jessica – I felt there was this huge opportunity here because we had this talent pool of young
bright women with human capital and diversity and a lot they can give to Modena
The pair got together to work out how to develop a programme that would act as a trampoline to help these women achieve their potential.Since launching in 2022
95 per cent of the women who have completed the programme are working in hospitality
Migrant women – in Italy and elsewhere – face double or even triple disadvantage
according to Caporossi and Rosval: they’re women
they’re migrants and they’re ethnic minorities
but they do everything and bring all the value
That will help them to feel more integrated and culturally relevant
women invest in the health of their communities economically too,” says Caporossi
Children of women who work are more likely to work themselves and they’re also more likely to make investments in the health of their families
both locally and in their countries of origin
“Programmes that help women to employment have a large-scale impact.”
The first shoots appearRoots offers something fresh in a city shaped by its food heritage and tradition
The menu at the restaurant has a dual purpose
“It not only incorporates all the technical skills we want to teach our chefs in their four months with us – because practice makes perfect – but the dishes reflect the origins of the trainees
We want to invite Modena into our restaurant so people can discover the beauty of the diversity that exists in our community,” Rosval says
During the first week on the Roots programme
then gets in the kitchen to cook a dish that reflects who they are
“It’s not necessarily food from where they come from
but perhaps a dish that tells a story about their life or their travels or something they used to cook one way in their country of origin
but that they’ve modified when they’ve come to Italy with new ingredients,” adds Rosval. In the first week
trainees cook lunch together and get to know each other
The day is called ‘chi sono?’ (‘who am I?’) and allows the group to put its collective guard down and talk
“We take ideas and points of inspiration from that day when creating the menu at Roots
We want to make sure it represents every single person working in our kitchens.”
but the roots are spreadingThe Roots programme is relatively new
but it has already had a real impact on lives
“We have provided access to 43 women from 19 different countries
95 per cent are currently employed in the kitchen world
They’re not huge numbers and we’re a small organisation,” Caporossi says
as the programme affects many more people that the women have in their lives
Roots may be young and have a long way to grow
but it’s already firmly planted in the community of Modena
Rosval says: “It feels amazing to be part of a project like this and to contribute to this path of growth for these women in our community
It’s an incredibly inspiring and motivating feeling… but we’ve received so much from them as well
seeing the strength and the courage that they show up with every single day is something that truly inspires me.” Rosval hopes the success of Roots will inspire others to launch similar initiatives in other cities
so “it creates a really beautiful cycle of empowerment and positive change in the Modena community,” and there are regularly past graduates mentoring current graduates
Caporossi sums up the work of Roots perfectly: “It makes me feel really hopeful about the future
There's a lot to be concerned about in the world and the women we work with have personally lived a lot of the terrible things we see on the news and some really difficult situations
I'm fully confident that the future is going to be bright in Modena because I've seen what they're capable of
It's just a pleasure to share that community with these individuals.”

Italian public transport operator SETA, active in Modena region, has welcomed its first ever electric buses, ready to enter service in the city of Reggio Emilia.
They are 11 MAN Lion’s City 12E e-buses, purchased thanks to an allocation of 8 million euros of PNRR funds, assigned to the Municipality of Reggio Emilia by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, which also commissioned Kempower the construction of the depot and related recharging infrastructure.
The first three e-buses are ready to enter service, the other eight will follow by June 2026. The operation is part of the company’s investment plan, which for the three-year period 2024-2026 amounts to almost 76 million euros, 20 of which will be covered by SETA and 56 covered by European contributions to the Region and Municipalities. About 210 new buses will be procured (of which about 60 for Reggio Emilia).
The new full-electric MAN Lion’s City 12E vehicles are the electric-powered version of the 48 Euro 6 CNG-hybrid buses that alrady circulate on the Reggio Emilia urban network.
The 11 vehicles purchased by SETA are configured in a 3-door urban layout and are 12-metres long. Their internal layout, designed to facilitate on-board handling, allows them to accommodate up to 79 passengers, 29 of whom have seats, as well as having a seat equipped to accommodate prams or wheelchairs for use by users with motor disabilities.
Mileage on one charge is approximately 300 km, ensured by the ‘NMC’ battery pack with a nominal capacity of 480 kWh.

the difference with the Ælla-60 is that it isn’t a ground-up build
but it actually started life as a Ferrari 360 Modena
Art Machines doesn’t admit that it’s based on a 360

naturally aspirated V8 and six-speed manual gearbox

because Modena Automobili is turning back time—and then speeding into the future—with their ambitious restomod build
If you’ve ever looked at a 1990s Maserati Biturbo-Shamal and thought
“This beauty needs a modern-day glow-up,” then Modena Automobili is here to answer your prayers
Project MA-01 is more than a restoration; it’s a transformation that blends classic Italian elegance with the muscle of a contemporary supercar
The idea for this masterpiece didn’t just pop out of thin air
Backed by over 1,000 hours of brainstorming
the Modena team is committed to preserving the Biturbo-Shamal’s unique spirit while pumping it full of 21st-century performance upgrades
It’s like taking your favorite vintage wine and somehow making it even more intoxicating
Now, let’s talk power—because what’s a supercar without jaw-dropping specs? Project MA-01 is powered by a roaring 500hp 3L V6 twin-turbo engine borrowed from the Maserati Ghibli S, which itself was co-engineered by the fine folks at Ferrari and Maserati
This beastly engine lets the car leap from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds
And with the Ghibli S’s ZF eight-speed sequential automatic transmission on board
every gear shift feels smoother than a jazz saxophone solo
let’s just say this transmission can change gears in 150 milliseconds—quicker than you can say “Maserati.”
Modena Automobili has meticulously scanned
and coated the original Maserati Biturbo chassis to ensure this beauty isn’t just about speed but also stability and safety
It’s a delicate balance: maintaining the Shamal’s distinctive
aggressive character while making sure it can handle the thunderous powertrain they’ve packed under the hood
But don’t expect to see these masterpieces crowding the streets
Modena Automobili plans to produce just 33 examples of Project MA-01
That’s right—owning this piece of restomod art will cost as much as a luxury penthouse (but come on
who needs real estate when you can have a supercar?)
For those lucky few who get their hands on one
driving a Project MA-01 will be an experience reserved for the elite of the elite
While Project MA-01 is still in development, the buzz is already electric. Stay tuned for more updates from Modena Automobili
because when this car finally hits the road
it’s going to make one heck of a statement
The Biturbo-Shamal has officially entered the 21st century
