International of Italy now heads to Montevarchi for the second and final round this Sunday Tim Gajser is the red-plate holder as he won both motos followed by an impressive Lucas Coenen who went 2-2 on his 450 debut The podium at Mantova was rounded by Andrea Bonacorsi on his first race as a factory rider for Fantic winner of the 2025 International of Hawkstone Park Jeremy Seewer has been training in Montevarchi since he joined Ducati this means he could do a great job and taste the podium on the red machine before the MXGP season starts 2023 MX2 World Champion Andrea Adamo lead the series after claim the overall at Mantova via 1-2 Valerio Lata finished 2nd overall on his HRC debut But the field will be stacked with Ferruccio Zanchi The races will be broadcast live Monticelli and Cedric Soubeyras Valerio Lata topped the first group over two seconds faster than Andrea Zanotti with Patrick Busatto third Ferruccio Zanchi topped the second group over Alessandro Lupino but there was less than half a second in it Mattia Guadagnini and the Ducati Desmo450 MX on the podium at the final round of the Internazionali d’Italia di Motocross in Montevarchi Guadagnini fought with determination throughout the moto to finish third In the opening laps the Venetian ignited the stands of Miravalle as he battled for first in the early exchanges He eventually made the pass into third under the chequered flag after 16 laps earning him the right to climb onto the third step of the podium and in the second heat I took a few wrong lines I was really excited and aggressive in the first laps – it has been a long time since I had this much fun Let’s hope it’s the start of a great adventure Race One: It was a HRC Honda 1-2 with Ferruccio Zanchi taking a dominate race win ahead of his team mate Brian Hsu had a great ride for third over Manuel Iacopi with Luca Ruffini rounding out the top five It was a DNF for Alessandro Lupino with Julius Mikula finishing ninth Race Two: It was the perfect day for Zanchi as he also won the second moto – with a gap of thirty seconds Lata was second with Lupino strong in third Hsu ended up fifth behind Mikula but it was enough for him to end up on the podium Nicholas Lapucci was leading the first couple of laps in race one on his Kawasaki machine It didn’t take Gajser long to get to the front and he had things under complete control until a few laps to go when he crashed out of the lead Coenen himself then crashed in what was a bizarre end of the race but the Belgian picked it up in first to take his first 450cc victory despite being passed by Isak Gifting he was able to pass him back for third Andrea Bonacorsi was solid in fifth with Glenn Coldenhoff recovering from a terrible start to sixth The second race was normal service resumed for Gajser as he led every lap on his HRC Honda machine It was all going on behind him but it was the impressive Isak Gifting who finished second on his JK Yamaha Bonacorsi didn’t get the best of starts but was riding well to come through the pack to third ahead of fellow countryman Guadagnini Coenen had a bad start and then came through the pack but had to crashes before settling for eighth Watson was improved in the second race to finish a solid tenth Mattia Guadagnini and the Ducati Desmo450 MX on the podium at the Internazionali d’Italia di Motocross • The Italian takes the Borgo Panigale bike to the podium at the Internazionali d’Italia for the first time • The result at Montevarchi confirms the progress made by the Ducati Desmo450 MX which will soon be available on the market for customers The Internazionali d’Italia di Motocross EICMA Series 2025 the championship that opens the racing season of continental motocross concluded with Ducati’s first podium of the year made brutal by the heavy rainfall during the week before the race and restored by the organisers with exhausting work Mattia Guadagnini posted the eighth fastest time in timed practice with his teammate Jeremy Seewer close behind in tenth Given the track was still very slippery due to it being covered by a treacherous layer of ice this was a solid start to the day by the talented duo who battled arm pump and was never completely at ease on the Tuscan track It was a less fortunate race for the Swiss ace before being forced to retire due to a technical problem I was really excited and aggressive in the first laps – it has been a long time since I had this much fun Let’s hope it’s the start of a great adventure with it being frozen and icy in the morning so I didn’t go crazy because I didn’t want to hurt myself here I had a lot of arm pump and didn’t get the best start I just didn’t get the feeling on this track and I didn’t want to push too hard and make a stupid mistake and then seeing as I had a lot of arm pump but then I had some technical issues and that was it but still we made a good step It was a positive moto in terms of my riding and bike set up We know it’s a project and we keep working.” The Montevarchi circuit is very technical and tricky for the riders but it was Andrea Adamo who was leading on the first lap of race one The Factory KTM rider started to pull away at the front but his team mate Sacha Coenen went down after contact from Valerio Lata Simon Längenfelder was on the move and he got into second and started to slowly catch Adamo He got the gap down to three seconds but then with around four laps to go was right on Adamo’s back wheel Backmarkers then started to cause havoc and with two to go Adamo had a small crash which allowed Längenfelder the win Lata rode well for third ahead of his team mate Zanchi with Valk rounding out the top five The second moto saw Coenen grab the holeshot and the front four riders were all quite close in a nice battle Zanchi ended up passing Coenen to get himself into the lead but then crashed out Längenfelder got to the front but Adamo was pushing hard and closed up to his back wheel to set up an exciting last couple of laps But then Adamo lost power and had a technical issue but Längenfelder was strong to go 1-1 – Adamo still won the championship Tim Gajser set a hot pace in the MX1 class two seconds faster than rookie Lucas Coenen with Isak Gifting third fastest Cas Valk grabbed pole on his Venrooy KTM with Ferruccio Zanchi second fastest on his HRC Honda and Simon Längenfelder third Nicky Mannini grabbed pole in a stacked 125cc class on his TM Nicolo Alvisi was second fastest with Francesco Bellei third Jamie Keith was fifth fastest with Cole McCullough eighth The second and final round of the International Italian Championship takes place at Montevarchi this weekend there’s plenty of Grand Prix and EMX riders who have entered to use the race as prep for the upcoming season TM enjoyed the first race as they went 1-2 Nicky Mannini led from start to finish but Gennaro Utech started to catch towards the end with Mantovani hot on his heels but the KTM rider then dropped it on the last lap Cole McCullough started outside the top ten but worked his way up to sixth with Jamie Keith eighth Nicolo Alvisi was able to take a much better start and stayed out of trouble The impressive Italian ran away with things at the front – but then crashed out of the lead allowing Mantovani to get to the front Alvisi stayed calm and passed him for the win but Mantovani still rode well for second to clinch the championship Katona had another strong ride for third with Mannini fourth but that was enough for the TM rider to take the overall McCullough rode well for fifth and fifth overall on the day Keith was improved in race two to finish sixth which earned him seventh overall on his JK Yamaha One rider that has plenty of potential in the future is German talent Cato Nickel as he is still very young but already racing the 450cc machine He has had a strong pre-season as well racing the International Italian Championship At the latest round of the series he beat full factory riders on the way to finishing ninth overall The plan for Nickel is to contest ten rounds of the MXGP World Championship in 2025 so he’ll regularly be racing with the best riders in the world We decided to catch up with the German to discuss his strong pre season how has that gone for you and where have you spent most of your time spinning laps Nickel: In the off-season I did absolutely nothing to rest my body and to get excited for work again In the middle of November I started my training and also some riding again I think I know exactly why but can you explain the decision to race a 450cc so soon in your career Nickel: In my second year of racing the 250cc I finished the ADAC MX Master Youngsters Cup class in second so anyway I had to move up (due to the rules) Aside from that I was too big and heavy to improve a lot on the EMX250 results Nickel: It started with a muddy free and timed practice where I could ride a solid lap without big mistakes which was difficult on that track (P.7) In the first race I took a bad start in around twenty-first but pushed all the way to seventh In the second moto I started a bit better but couldn’t push like the first moto because I was sick these days and had some pain in my lungs and throat but still did a solid job against the factory guys what’s your going through your mind – beating a few full factory riders Nickel: After I passed a few riders at the beginning I started to stagnate in fourteenth I managed to pass two more riders and with five minutes left when I was twelfth I started to “race” I felt so comfortable that I closed the gap and passed in the same lap When I read the names of the riders that I passed I thought I was dreaming I was such a good flow and in one piece with the track that I finished in seventh GateDrop: I believe your setup with Bauerschmidt Husqvarna this year will be a little bit different Nickel: Actually it’s the same bike and training facility as last year for me it’s just a different name and organisation as the “CatMoto” Team Because they want to focus on the 250s and Bauerschmidt took the 450s the main focus will be on the ADAC MX Masters Nickel: The goal is always to get the best version out of myself it’s hard to say it in numbers but I want to ride at the front with the fast guys and maybe get some TV time GateDrop: I can’t mention the ADAC MX Masters and not ask you about Nagl being German he must be one of the role models for you Nickel: I admire him a lot but he was never a role model for me He rides very cleverly for his physical age and he has more experience than anyone else But I think the time will catch him one day GateDrop: I believe you’ll race selected MXGP World Championship events in 2025 Nickel: I decided to race ten rounds of MXGP this season because this is what I’m aiming for in the future Sweden and the Netherlands are the rounds I plan on racing GateDrop: You raced some MXGP World Championship events last year how did you find the class – it goes without saying but it’s hard to get a good result like tenth because there are so many factory riders and they don’t joke around The split between factory and normal teams is pretty big GateDrop: What are your goals for the MXGP rounds you will race Nickel: I want to ride constantly in the points in the top fifteen But one in top ten race would be the jackpot for me It was a great day of racing at Montevarchi which presented a very tricky and rocky track for the riders You can get the results below as well as highlights from all three classes: MX1 like Montevarchi, theOstiamare, a company chaired by Daniele De Rossi, "Captain Future" with Roma and World Champion in 2006 as a footballer, as well as former coach of the Giallorossi. Then, Boncompagni gave Leoni a thrill when he ran away on the counterattack in the 68th minute, lost three defenders and hit the edge of the crossbar with his left foot. The Valdarno players insisted but San Donato did not tremble. Indeed, with a counterattack by Calonaci 5 minutes from the end, they almost made a breakthrough. Like the rossoblù, they are now aware of being the masters of their own destiny in the last 45 minutes of the season. Atos Rigucci explained it in his comments after the final whistle from referee Molinaro: "From what we showed after the break I hoped for something more – he underlined – but the pitch decided so and we accept the verdict. It wasn't easy to come to Grosseto's home showing this personality. Ours, I will repeat it endlessly, is a young team and deserves compliments for how it expressed itself. A thank you, then, goes to the fans who followed us as always with affection and warmth". The Florentine coach, therefore, is moderately satisfied with the attitude shown by the Aquilotti, although – he added – "we are all aware that we have to fight two very tough battles. The group is giving it their all, even if there are several players at risk of suspension or injured". The team's top scorer Orlandi, who was included during the match against Grosseto, was not at his best. From today, in the meantime, Montevarchi will start thinking about San Donato Tavarnelle, who have not beaten at home since the season was interrupted by Covid. It was December 8, 2019 and at Brilli Peri the Valdarno team, then led by Roberto Malotti, won 3-1. On the guest bench sat Atos Rigucci. The yellow and blues went ahead with Pino, but were overtaken by goals from Giustarini, Essoussi and Lischi. MONTEVARCHI (4-2-3-1): Accounts; Old, Franco, Martinelli, Ciofi; Saltalamacchia, Sixths: Bontempi (76' Casagni), D'Alessandro (61' Tommasini), Orlandi (88' Picchi); Priore (61' Boncompagni). Coach: Rigucci. Referee: Marians of Livorno. Assistants: Ginanneschi/Laganà. Mirrored module for both teams, the 4-2-3-1, and the coach from the Eagles will change the bare minimum compared to the draw with Trestina. The former Viola Mattia Saltalamacchia will return from suspension in midfield while among the home team the sports judge has suspended the experienced Possenti in defense. In his place the Greek Chrysovergis. And tomorrow the Florentine coach of the rossoblù, former player of the match scheduled for 15pm at the Comunale in via Gramsci, will go hunting with his boys for that victory that would smell of direct salvation. On a positive streak for six days, the Eaglets will have the task of holding off the similar ambitions of the guests, who have 39 points in the standings and a 2-0 lead from the first leg. There was talk again of the "black beast", Montevarchi lost both matches of that tournament which ended with relegation for both clubs. In short, there is no lack of reasons to spice up a decisive match. In addition to the coach of L'Aquila, then, some former players should be mentioned, this time on the opposite side, such as the defender Cellai, the midfielder Gistri and the midfielder Borgarello. Today's finishing touches will allow the rossoblù trainer to draw up the list of players called up. The hope is to recover as best as possible, even though the top scorer of the eagles Andrea Orlandi, a key player in the offensive phase, took to the field during the match in Grosseto. Compared to the past, in fact, the economic rewards have been doubled and are valid for the first 5 companies classified in each group, with sums ranging from 50 thousand to 5 thousand euros. In the meantime, the preparation of the eagles is in full swing in view of the last home match scheduled in the calendar. Next Sunday, at Brilli Peri, Atos Rigucci's rossoblù will face the San Donato Tavarnelle and just take a look at the standings to understand that this is a decisive direct clash for both teams, tied at 39 points and hunting for the pass to avoid the playout. GROSSETO (4-2-3-1): Raffaelli; Guerrini, Chrysovergis, Bolcano, Macchi; Caponi, Sabelli; Marzierli. Coach: Consonni. The Italian Motocross Prestige Championship took place in Montevarchi for Round 3 It was a strong day for Yamaha´s Andrea Bonacorsi who earned his first 450 race after sweeping both motos in the MX1 class Jan Pancar and Guiseppe Tropepe filled the podium Ducati´s Alessandro Lupino came short of the podium he keeps the red plate by 20 points over Tropepe Valerio Lata’s streak remained alive as the Bedinii GasGas rider took both motos once again followed by Saad Soulimani and Samuele Bernardini The latest performances and especially the return to success in Seravezza with Fezzanese contribute to comforting the eagles, but the opponent is also coming off a precious and prestigious victory with Siena. Rigucci certainly expects his boys to restart from the initial 70 minutes seen in Versilia and not lower the tension bar. "We haven't done anything decisive yet," the president warned the team. Angel Livi (in the photo) despite the satisfaction for the three points obtained in the advance match last Saturday – and we will have to face Trestina with humility, character and maximum attention".
