Tomorrow morning the fishermen who work in the Oristano ponds will be welcomed in the offices of the regional Agriculture department to take stock of the start of extraordinary maintenance work in the ponds
namely the dredging of the canals to restore the oxygenation of the waters
when the operators had announced a demonstration in Cagliari
but also to remain in the streets indefinitely
there will also be the associations representing the fishing companies: Legacoop
We will also talk about the problems related to the management of wild fauna
But also the management of eel fishing and the use of bertivelli
"We want to see the start date of the works written in the documents," comments Antonio Loi
president of the Marceddì fishing consortium and also spokesperson for his colleagues
"otherwise it will be the beginning of a protest that has never been dressed up
It is a miracle that during those few days of temperature the lagoons did not turn into a cemetery of fish."

The Carnival of Sartiglia on the island of Sardinia is one of the most imaginative folkloric events in Sardinia
The beautiful event in Sardinian costume takes place in Oristano in Sardinia
From the last Sunday of February to Tuesday
The highlight takes place on Sunday with the folkloric horse race
It is one of the oldest horse events left in the Mediterranean and one of the most spectacular. The is one of the unique events in the world of knights
It takes place in the medieval town of Oristano in Sardinia
This is a folkloric event that was first documented in 1547
where they are mentioned as shows organized in honor of Emperor Charles V: especially tournaments with sword
spear and horses. The Sartiglia is a spectacle from start to finish
divided into phases that you can read about in the program on this website
The term Sartiglia is derived from the Castilian word Sortija
which in turn is derived from the Latin sorticula
The origin of this event is the old military knight tournament
In the so-called ring competition or ‘race to the star’
the knights on horseback are supposed to hit the target as quickly as possible

Kent Waldrep falls and doesn’t get up in Birmingham
“One of the worst periods in the history of college football,” as Oristano
only thought the previous three seasons in Fort Worth “sucked.”
“When you talk to some of the older fans and particularly the players that played,” Sonny Dykes said Saturday
The rise of little ol’ TCU to the mountaintop of college football can’t be measured without a peek at how far it’s come in the lifetimes of fans of a certain age. As un-be-LEE-va-ble as the prospects of Monday’s game against Georgia looms
it takes on another layer of improbability altogether once you realize that the Frogs have already won more postseason games this season than they did from 1958-97
Case in point: One of the three wins the Frogs managed in 1961 was a titanic upset of No
“It was the biggest win of my career,” Abe Martin later said
“but all it did was make everybody mad because I cost the Southwest Conference a national championship.”
Darrell Royal doubled down on the ignominy the season after the upset when
in what he thought was an off-the record conversation
“It’s not so much what he eats and totes off,” Royal said
Chances are most football fans remember DKR’s quote
the football program’s decline was at full speed
died from sudden cardiac arrest on the sideline in Waco
ran his Lincoln Continental into a concrete abutment at 90 mph
handsome back-up running back out of Alvin
took the ball on “red right power 28″ at Birmingham’s Legion Field and was subsequently buried under a wave of Crimson Tide players
By the time of his death last year at 67
Waldrep had carved out a lifetime as one of the nation’s greatest advocates for the disabled
Oristano couldn’t have imagined such an outcome when he was an RA at Milton Daniel dormitory on the TCU campus
“Kent was my absolute biggest hell-raiser,” he said
pick off guys in the shower with his pellet gun.”
Oristano recounted TCU football’s decade of miseries in a 1980 cover story for Texas Sports under the headline
Among the witnesses Oristano interviewed was Mike Renfro
who went on to a fine career as an NFL wide receiver
“If the good Lord had come down and told me I’d only play in four winning games in four years,” Renfro told Oristano
Wacker seemed on the verge of writing a new chapter for the Frogs when he improved upon his 1-8-2 debut to 8-4 in his second season
visiting a friend who worked in the office of Dick Lowe
confronted Wacker with what he saw and eventually broke the story
Next: NCAA sanctions and another dozen years wandering the wilderness of college football
“There was always a cloud hanging over the program,” Oristano said
“You waited for the next thing to go wrong.”
Dennis Franchione started the Frogs on their long road to change in 1998
who has wrangled the Frogs to within one win of their first national title since 1938
it’s all a little surreal to someone like Oristano
who still remembers his last football game as a student at TCU in 1973
The Frogs were playing Rice in front of 6,000 people who apparently had nothing better to do
forcing everyone to retreat to the concourse
when lightning struck the middle of the field
A wall of flame and a blast so loud Oristano thought he would die
but Oristano considered it a sign of his times on campus
he’s hoping for lightning of a different sort
Even the Almighty would have to concede the Frogs are due

Faceless horsemen perform acrobatic stunts during the annual Sa Sartiglia festival
Sa Sartiglia falls between the last Sunday of Carnival and Shrove Tuesday
The frenzy of Carnival season encourages overindulgence and transgression before Lent’s sober time of prayer and penance in the weeks leading up to the Easter holiday
the spectacle begins with the flourish of trumpeters riding horses iced in flowers
before quiet maidens sew the protagonist of the event
must mount his horse without touching the ground before leading the other competitors in the upcoming challenges and games
leads the team sewing the Su Componidori into costume during the dressing ritual
Symbolizing the transformation from human to demigod
the mask is also sewn onto the bands around his face
which he wears without drinking or eating all day

other blank-faced participants wearing puffed sleeves and starched cuffs gallop forward
attempting to pierce a dangling tin star along the way
Jousting tournaments take place Sunday on the flower-strewn streets to the glee of the gathered crowds
The festival climax includes an acrobatic spectacle when a human tower of three riders balance precariously over carefully choreographed horses
Born and raised in Oristano, photographer Michele Ardu never misses participating in Sa Sartiglia alongside the rest of his community
Ardu notes a distinct balance between holy and profane: “Imagine that
this fact will surely look as a blasphemy; but not in Oristano
where Su Componidori is really regarded as a mystical
similarly theatrical feasts were held for ruling knights
Other festive events take place during Carnival season in the weeks before Easter—but roots reach older than Christianity to Ancient Greek and Roman pagan rituals
as well as folklore that colonized groups passed on in order to preserve their culture
“Sardinia is unique in how it has preserved many traditional and communal activities that bring together the village or city
Tourists can participate in these traditions, still vibrant today. Just toast the riders good luck in their quests with local Vernaccia di Oristano
a very rare and unique wine made in Sardinia since the Nuragic times
According to Sardinian wine expert and tour guide Anna Maria Fara
tourists should try to make friends with riders to join smaller groups in the stables to sip Vernaccia before the competition begins
stands line the squares selling glasses to the gathered crowds
Visitors and locals alike get swept away by the spirited event
filled with rituals that speak to Sardinia that stands still in time
Then burn it off by strolling the narrow historic lanes of the old city
A short half-hour drive leads to the surrounding Mediterranean Sea

Most Gilmore Girl fans are merely excited to have the series return via four Netflix “movies” later this year. But for Gilmore superfan Stacey Oristano—who worked with Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino on the critically acclaimed/short-lived series
Bunheads—she was able to go one step further: she guest stars in the upcoming revival
RELATED: Gilmore Girls‘ Yanic Truesdale on Returning to Stars Hollow and His New YouTube Show
“When they first announced that it was happening
[Sherman-Palladino] emailed me and was like
‘Obviously you’re going to be in it; I’m going to write you something,’” Oristano told TV Insider at the ATX Television Festival in June
‘That’s the most amazing thing ever.’ I never honestly believe anything until it really happens
And then the weird part is it was the first time someone had written something specifically for me
which is also a crazy experience,” she continued
When it came time to actually prep for filming on the series

A Westchester County commissioner is leaving her post this week but has already been hired back on a $90,000 consulting job that one lawmaker called a tax-funded severance package
who has served as commissioner of the Department of Human Resources for five years
Oristano is being brought back as a consultant through Oct
31 "to ensure a smooth transition" while the county looks to fill her position
a spokesman for County Executive Rob Astorino
Her current contract as commissioner would have expired at that same time
But Legislator Ken Jenkins said the consultancy looked like it was an unofficial separation agreement paid for with tax dollars
"There's some fishiness on this particular item," Jenkins
McCormack said Oristano resigned to "pursue other opportunities."
"This consultancy will provide continuity for the Human Resources Department and the other municipalities served by the county," he wrote
"The county wishes her well in her new endeavors."
Bringing Oristano back required a waiver of a county ethics law that says former employees must wait at least a year before returning as a consultant
Use of such waivers has often been a point of political contention
but legislators say a waiver request has never been denied by lawmakers
The waiver was requested by Oristano through her attorney
was one of four lawmakers who voted against granting the waiver on Monday
because he believes the law needs to be changed
Oristano's resignation is effective Wednesday
She was not in the office Tuesday and had already left her post
according to a spokeswoman answering the phone at the Department of Human Resources

This is the provision of a resolution approved in recent days by the Regional Council on the proposal of the Transport Councilor
with which the 223 million euro funding allocated to strengthen the railway connections of the island is rescheduled
The electrification of the Sardinian railway network starts with the Cagliari-Oristano line
This is what is foreseen by a resolution approved in recent days by the regional council on the proposal of the councilor of transport
“With the important investments in rolling stock
including 12 hybrid trains to be delivered already this year
and with those for electrification on the ordinary gauge network
it will finally be possible to travel also in Sardinia on electric-powered trains
A long-awaited goal that will simultaneously guarantee an increase in the level of service quality and greater environmental sustainability ”
"the greater speed of the vehicles will allow a reduction in travel times and in the phases of entry
the electric traction will determine the reduction of noise emissions
The intervention will also have very important effects on the environment through the reduction of climate-altering gas emissions
thus contributing to the safeguarding of the Sardinian territory and the achievement of the environmental objectives set at European level ”
the 223 million euros of planned investments are finalized as follows: 124 million for the "speeding up of San Gavino-Sassari-Olbia: variant of the Bauladu route" (70,8 million from FSC 2014-2020 resources and for 53,2 million under the Sardinia Fsc 2014-2020 Pact); 95,8 million euros for the "electrification of the Cagliari-Oristano railway section" (46,8 million of the Sardinia Fsc 2014-2020 Pact and 49 million of the RFI Program Agreement
absorbing the resources previously allocated on the Bonorva railway variant
Torralba); 3,2 million euros assigned to RFI for design activities (Fsc 2014-2020 resources)
"We start with the Cagliari-Oristano line both in consideration of the greater number of passengers transported compared to the other ordinary gauge sections and because of the existence of the double track of the line in question
which allows proceed with electrification on a doubling network ”
concludes the representative of the Sardinian regional executive
In our third instalment on less-visited corners of Europe, we look at Italy, home to some of the world’s best-known sights, but also plenty of quieter beauty spotsHidden Greece | Hidden Croatia
some Italophiles were surprised to find a country with a very un-British attitude to queues and personal space suddenly distant and obedient
Even now there is noticeably less kissing and hugging in streets and squares
But everything else that makes Italy such a favourite – food
landscapes and people – is still there to be savoured
and all the more rewarding off the beaten tourist track
Oristano province has been much less affected by tourism than Alghero or Cagliari

The pearl of Le Marche is the walled Unesco-listed city of Urbino
Its hilltop red-brick buildings can be seen from miles away
and the pedestrianised old town is all steep slopes and narrow alleys lined with 15th-century churches and palaces
The fact that Urbino is home to only 14,000 people adds to its charms
as does the presence of the Università di Urbino (one of Italy’s oldest) whose roaming groups of students stop the city feeling like an open-air museum
shows a pristine town square and baptistery in intricate detail
the real Urbino is less perfect and more enjoyable

To accompany all that wine is excellent olive oil, pasta made from ancient grains, vegetables including rare spiny artichokes and cheeses such as tuma (fresh pecorino)
and vastedda (sheep’s mozzarella) – all on sale at Menfi’s Wednesday farmers’ market
There’s lots to do besides eat and drink. South of Menfi is a six-mile arc of largely undeveloped golden beach. A central stretch called Lido Fiori has a stream running across it, and an excellent fish restaurant, Salisà

Derek Phillips and Stacey Oristano have announced their upcoming podcast in which they will rewatch the series Friday Night Lights and discuss the drama
and stories that play out over the five seasons
Phillips played Tim Riggins’ big brother Billy in the series
and Oristano played his on-screen wife Mindy Collette-Riggins
The show is so fun to revisit years later because of all the big name actors who got their start on this series
Phillips and Oristano will break down iconic moments in the show
and answer fan questions and will be joined along the way by special guests from the Friday Night Lights family including writers
“We can’t wait to rewatch the show with the fans and rediscover the magic of Friday Night Lights
We’re excited to partner with Black Barrel Media
and Cadence13 to bring this rewatch to life.”
This will be a super fun podcast for fans of the series and those who have had it on their watchlist
and it’s been a while since I watched it all the way through
Full Hearts: A Friday Night Lights Rewatch launches on September 28th

I love Disney and the beach and stand-up comedy
My favorite things to geek out on are the podcast My Favorite Murder
pretty much anything with Jason Segel and/or Paul Rudd
I love the books Little Women and Harry Potter
It was a Collette-Riggins family reunion at the ATX TV Festival on June 5. Friday Night Lights stars Taylor Kitsch
and Derek Phillips came together for an online chat at the festival’s virtual ATX TV…from the Couch
and Billy Riggins shared their thoughts on what happened to their characters after the NBC series ended in 2011
Kitsch — who had Riggins’ football jerseys hanging behind him — asked his former co-stars what he thought they would be doing during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic
“I think they would all be together,” he said
“We would murder each other!” Oristano replied
“I’m guessing Billy did something to piss Mindy off so she’s living with you guys right now and I keep showing up,” Phillips said
Tim and Tyra didn’t end up together at the end of Friday Night Lights
but the finale left open the possibility that the two would eventually rekindle their relationship
though things didn’t necessarily go smoothly for the couple
“Obviously Tyra and Tim are married with children [and] divorced
She added that Tyra would be a counselor “giving kids advice” and Tim would now be coaching the football team in Dillon
That’s a lot of responsibility,” Kitsch said
Kitsch had some more ideas about what Tim and his older brother Billy would be up to now
“He definitely would be back with Tyra on the ranch, maybe give Billy the sh*tty guest house with no electricity or A.C.,” the Waco actor went on to say
“There’d be a makeshift pool that would be
they just dig it out and filled it with water
Kitsch said he had trouble imagining what kind of job would be right for the former high school football star
“I just don’t think he likes authority,” he said
Billy Riggins had a habit of skirting the law
he started running an illegal chop shop out of his and Tim’s auto body shop
But when the police shut down the enterprise
it was Tim who ended up taking the fall for his older brother
Phillips doesn’t think Billy has fully reformed
“I think he’s still doing illegal sh*t to get by,” the actor said
“It’s one step forward and two steps back.”
he’s running an underground poker game somewhere,” the actor said
“Something illegal but just to keep the lights on.”
His wife Mindy has had to go back to dancing at The Landing Strip to support the family
“I think she would have to,” the actress said

As seen in the promo for Nov. 8's "Anybody Have a Map?," Webber will deal with a pregnant nurse's sudden medical complications
The clip even suggests that the doctors may have to perform an emergency C-section on her
Although the woman looks like the expectant Teddy at first glance
anyone re-watching the promo can deduce that she's a nurse who initially seems unfamiliar
the show has actually snuck the character into a few fleeting moments earlier in the season to prepare for this special episode
The drama's showrunner Krista Vernoff revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Frankie, the pregnant nurse, purposely appeared leading up to this week's episode
The episode's teaser declares that "a crisis will hit very close to home." Although fans have speculated that the emergency is tied to the possibility of Catherine (Debbie Allen) being Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Koracick (Greg Germann)'s confidential patient
Vernoff's emphasis of the episode highlighting nurses seems to say otherwise
Oristano's character is even included in ABC's official episode synopsis
"One of the nurses is 28 weeks pregnant and collapses at the hospital while talking to Richard." Is Frankie's health really the epic crisis that the show is hinting at
It's great to know that the show is exploring new characters
but it is harder to feel invested when a story focuses on someone we don't know that well
ABCIf Oristano's role is due to grow after this storyline, she definitely has the dramatic chops to handle any big plots. Her IMDb page lists several guest roles in notable dramas
and she most recently appeared as squatter Trina in four episodes of Shameless
You may also know her as Truly Stone in the short-lived ABC Family series Bunheads or Tyra's sister Mindy on Friday Night Lights
If Grey's Anatomy does plan to flesh out Frankie after this medical complication
Oristano is totally capable of living up to writers' visions
Although she's only appeared in two previous episodes this year
Vernoff also confirmed how important Oristano's earlier spots were for the Nov
Here's to potentially meeting more of the nursing staff this week amidst Meredith's mystery mission and Jackson's possible infidelity
Let's hope that a tragedy related to Frankie isn't included in that mix
Season 15 of Grey's Anatomy continues on Thursday
