Italy — An American service member is being accused by Italian authorities of stabbing her active-duty spouse following a roadside argument
An Aviano Air Base spokeswoman confirmed Monday that two American airmen were hospitalized following an incident a little over a week ago
She referred further questions to Italian law enforcement officials
who were not available for comment on the details
The man involved is assigned to the 31st Fighter Wing
while the woman is assigned to Detachment 4 at Poggio Renatico Air Base
adding that both were released from the hospital Jan
Army Garrison Italy Facebook page said that the woman is suspected of stabbing her husband Jan
25 at a service area off the Valdastico South highway
Military officials and Carabinieri arrived at the scene after the woman called the police
First responders took the man to the emergency room
The woman was taken into custody and is facing charges of aggravated assault
The Air Force said the incident is under investigation and it will fully cooperate with local law enforcement agencies
