We served a mission in the Waterloo ward and we were able to get to know Portia
I will always remember her friendly smile and great attitude
and you had a strong testimony that kept you centered and joyful no matter your circumstances
I loved your constant smile and the times we laughed our heads off together
You enriched my life as a precious friend
and I will never forget you and the special times we shared together
and I will always remember your positive attitude and sweet smile
but you were strong and positive through it all
You will always hold a special place in our hearts
You are so blessed to have Moses follow right as your heels - - just the way it should be
found out together the results of her genetic testing for Huntington’s disease
Huntington’s disease was a part of my life from an early age
My earliest memory was sitting against the wall of my Uncle John’s hospital bed when I was 3 years old
Peggy Dervey (Porcia’s nan) and White at 17 visit her mother
I grew up watching my two aunties and my mum become symptomatic with Huntington’s
the last of my nan’s children to do so
I lost my nan when I was 22, and for years following her death, I felt hopeless. At 32, I started to experience “twitching” — my legs would spasm and kick out — and I thought I was starting to share the same fate and diagnosis as my family
I contacted my doctor and started the process of genetics counseling
I had a 50/50 chance of having the disease
I wanted to remember what it felt like not to know if I had Huntington’s
I told myself that no matter how bad it could get
and her uncle John Coe hold White’s sister when she was a baby
“You are not at risk of Huntington’s disease.”
and the counselor let me sit with it until I could speak again
There were, and still are, a lot of feelings around my negative result
Huntington’s took so much from my family
but it has helped me find joy in everyday life
I live the life that the generation before me hasn’t had the opportunity to live
I feel like I would’ve still taken that stance even if my test had come out positive
I started studying science and went back to an entry-level role to start working in environmental work
I ran outside to take photos of an incredible rainbow that covered the entire skyline
Sometimes it feels lonely to be where I am
I just feel lucky to be able to see something so beautiful

Porcia Bradford Love: Help prepare your skin to spring back into shapeOn March 20
winter will end and spring will finally begin
may still be recovering from the harsh winter we had
the low humidity outside in conjunction with dry
indoor heat produced in most homes and offices dries the skin out faster than normal
Proper skin care and healthy lifestyle choices can help delay the skin's natural aging process and prevent various skin problems
One of the key tips to maintaining healthy skin this spring is to moisturize every single day
You should apply a moisturizer to the skin within three minutes of stepping out of the shower
Moisturizers help trap water in the upper layers of the skin and decrease dryness and subsequent itching
the American Academy of Dermatology recommends lotions and creams that contain any of the following ingredients: petrolatum
remember to apply a hand cream after each hand washing
you can apply Vaseline on your hands before bed
remember to wear rubber or gardening gloves to protect your hands
You may even want to apply Vaseline and white cotton gloves prior to your rubber gloves to protect your hands even more
Another way to retain moisture is to keep your showers short — about five minutes is best
Remember that showering with lukewarm water is a better choice because hot showers can actually extract moisture from your skin
You actually lose more moisture through your lips than anywhere else on your body
I recommend applying a lip balm with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15
If your lips sting or tingle after you apply the lip balm
switch to one that does not cause this reaction
remember that water also helps the body stay moisturized
It is recommended to drink at least 8 glasses of water daily to rid the body and skin of toxins
one of the most important things to remember is to wear sunscreen
Sunscreen helps prevent sun damage which may lead to wrinkles
Always wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen (one that protects against UVA and UVB rays) with an SPF of 30 or higher
especially on exposed body parts such as the face
re-apply sunscreen every two hours or throughout the day as needed
It is best to avoid the sun between 10 a.m
If you are outside for an extended period of time (for example
remember to wear protective clothing such as long-sleeved shirts
which give clothing an additional layer of ultraviolet protection for a certain number of washings
or special sun-protective clothing that is designed specifically to block ultraviolet rays
The spring months do not have to wreak havoc on your skin
Remember to place a greater emphasis on moisturizing and protecting yourself from the sun and to visit your dermatologist who can devise a personal skin care regimen that will help combat many of the challenges associated with spring skin

River Region Dermatology is now open in east Montgomery providing comprehensive skin care services on Berryhill Road behind EastChase
About 10 jobs were created when the doors opened at the practice
River Region Dermatology (RRD) provides services in medical dermatology
"In addition to treating common skin conditions in adults and children
facial volume loss resulting in folds and jowls
"We also have a variety of lasers and light devices available for laser hair removal
Love sees many trends in the field that can help patients confronting skin and other problems
She said many patients are seeking noninvasive (nonsurgical) procedures to assist them in aging gracefully
Major advances in laser surgery and light therapy have revolutionized their use in the treatment of many skin conditions
"RRD offers the latest technology in laser treatments for a variety of medical and cosmetic skin concerns including acne
"We have specialized training in treating different skin types with lasers
which is very important when choosing the correct laser."
She said that body conturing is another hot item with many people wanting to tighten and tone a variety of places after losing weight
the first non-invasive device that delivers radio frequency and ultrasound energy that can be used to tighten skin on the face
and body in a way that is both long-lasting and natural looking," she said
And platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a method of skin rejuvenation that uses the body’s natural healing growth factors to stimulate skin renewal
PRP is also very effective for hair loss in both men and women," Love said
The new practice is the vision of Montgomery native Love

American was allegedly driving car that fatally struck 15-year-old boy near Italian airbase
The mother of a 15-year-old boy killed when he was struck by a car allegedly driven by a US servicewoman in northern Italy has called for the accused to be tried in Italy and not the US
A 20-year-old woman named by police as Julia Bravo was allegedly behind the wheel of a car that crashed into the curb at the edge of a roundabout at about 2.30am on Sunday in the town of Porcia
Giovanni Zanier was chatting with two friends on a cycling path near the road when the car struck him
He died while being transferred to a hospital
In interviews on state radio and with the Rome daily La Repubblica
expressed her fears that BRavo might be allowed to leave the country
“We want her to be tried in Italy and that she be given the sentence she deserves,” she said
Concern that Bravo might not be tried in Italy was sparked by comments on Monday from the Pordenone public prosecutor
who said that in accordance with “international treaties with regard to the jurisdiction applying to Nato forces stationed in Europe”
the Italian justice ministry could decide that the case should be heard in the US
That could mean any prosecution would be handled by military authorities in the United States
in an echo of what happened when in 1998 a US Marine jet taking off from the Aviano base clipped a cable running over a mountainside
Italian media said the alleged driver in the Porcia case was placed under house arrest on base while the investigation by local prosecutors continues
she lent help and called for medical assistance
US military authorities expressed “deepest condolences” and said they were working closely with Italian law enforcement
“The young man’s family and the local community are in our hearts and prayers,” said a written statement from base authorities
and US authorities did not identify the woman
Local people complained that the roundabout was poorly illuminated
told Sky that the lighting had been cut back in line with Italian government appeals to reduce energy use amid feared shortages linked to the war in Ukraine
The incident recalls the death of 19-year-old Harry Dunn in August 2019 close to RAF Croughton in Northamptonshire
is accused of causing Dunn’s death by dangerous driving
Sacoolas and her family were taken out of the UK by US authorities as police investigated Dunn’s death
with US officials claiming she had diplomatic immunity

Jose shares his testimony at The Salvation Army’s 2023 Christmas Appeal event in Sydney
has been accepted as a cadet to be part of the 2024 Keepers of the Covenant session
He shares his testimony with Salvos Online I was born and raised in Cebu
and two years later my entire family – my mother and my siblings – migrated to Australia
I joined the workforce to help my mum support my younger siblings
I landed my first job with the Reserve Bank of Australia in 1990
I then went on to work for AMP Investments and Perpetual Investments until the early 2000s
it was a relatively successful period of my life
my sister and my youngest brother both got married
I had a life-changing experience – an experience that changed the trajectory of my life in ways that I never dreamt of
a very good friend of mine invited me to his house in Bella Vista to watch Sunday football
As naturally as pulling out a can of beer from the fridge
he pulled out a glass pipe and a clear plastic bag with a crystal substance
It was a substance I came to know and fall in love with – ICE
He reasoned to me that all professionals took this drug
it numbed the pain of the grief I was feeling about the loss of someone close to me
The downside is that ICE stops you from sleeping
I would drink a bottle of whiskey to go to sleep
there was a daily choice about whether to take ICE
but the addiction rapidly took hold of my life
This was all fine until I ran out of savings
I got evicted because I could not pay my rent
I racked up credit card debt to fund the addiction
I started to break into my brother’s home to steal stuff to pay for the drugs
I became desperate to do anything to get the money to chase the high
They say there are three places an ICE addict will end up: prison
I remember one of the loneliest feelings was after being released from Bathurst prison after 18 months
and no one was waiting for me behind the gates
The moment I got off the train in Parramatta
After being arrested yet again for possession in 2015
Parramatta Drug Court gave me a choice to attend a drug rehab
I was released from prison with a one-way ticket to Coffs Harbour to attend a rehabilitation centre
I was also given a black garbage bag of donated clothes that were three sizes too big
I was walking through Sydney Airport when I experienced my first spiritual awakening
I looked at everyone else with their luggage
and the sum total of my life was a black garbage bag
the contents of which did not belong to me
I smashed my phone to eliminate the temptation of getting in touch with any dealers or former connections and spent 11 months in that treatment centre
a treatment centre managed by The Salvation Army
There I relearned things I didn’t even realise I had lost
The program allowed me to learn new routines to develop new patterns of living
to do things you didn’t like doing (like raking leaves every day)
There was group and individual therapy that facilitated emotional healing
This is important because when you take the drugs away from an addict
what you are left with are the reasons they need to use in the first place
through the work of Salvation Army officers Majors June and Russell Grice
The Salvation Army became an important part of my life
Jose shares his inspiring story at the Christmas Appeal event in Sydney. In the beginning
The reality of my situation now finally hit me
I had to face the challenges of a normal person – getting a job
my biggest challenge because they had heard all my excuses before
even after I was clean for more than six months
I got up to open the door for a puppy we had at the rehab farm
I realised that righteousness and foolishness do not matter unless we are anchored firmly to God
I realised also that I didn’t have to look for God because God came for us through Jesus
That was really the beginning of the journey
I was lucky to have availed various wraparound services that created a pathway to new living
Most significant of all was The Salvation Army
loved and fought alongside me in the early days when I couldn’t live
and Coffs Harbour Salvation Army became my spiritual home
and I am halfway through a Bachelor of Ministry
My mission field today is with the Australian Anti-Ice Campaign
We provide peer support work and specific anti-ice education workshops in schools as well as in Juvenile Justice Centres throughout Australia
I run workshops in high schools and juvenile justice centres
and hold roles on various association and not-for-profit boards
A watershed moment for me was late last year – I got accepted as a cadet-in-appointment with The Salvation Army
to be a Salvation Army officer and work full-time in ministry
“Give and you will receive gifts in full measure
Please pray for Jose as he prepares to enter The Salvation Army Training College later this month

Porcia Love picked up her 18-month-old daughter
who wore a matching lab coat emblazoned with the logo of her mom’s new business
Love looked around and fought back emotion as she tried to describe how it felt to open her own clinic in her hometown of Montgomery

River Region Dermatology & Laser held a celebration Tuesday for the new 4,000-square-foot clinic at 2060 Berryhill Road in Eastchase
Love has spent the last few years working at another practice in Montgomery but decided to go solo when she launched her own clinic
“It’s a risk that you take when you do that
and I wanted to take the risk on my own,” she said
She settled on the Eastchase spot because it’s a growing area with a lack of dermatologists

The sighting of a North Atlantic right whale and her calf on March 18 was the first recorded appearance of the endangered species in Cape Cod Bay this year
according to the Center for Coastal Studies
The arrival of the 21-year-old right whale, named Porcia, and her calf was documented by the center’s right whale ecology program team. Porcia and her calf had been seen in late December off the coast of Georgia, center officials said in a statement
Right whales are a federally protected endangered species
“That designation legally prohibits boats and aircraft from approaching within 500 yards of them
It also restricts vessel speeds in designated areas
including Cape Cod waters,” the statement said
“The right whale’s greatest threats to survival are being struck by a vessel or becoming entangled in rope.”
Most right whales visit Cape Cod Bay and the surrounding waters during their annual migration
Mother-and-calf pairs typically make the trip from their calving grounds off the coast of Georgia and Florida and arrive in Cape Cod Bay in mid-March
They feed and rest here before continuing north
the state Division of Marine Fisheries limits vessels less than 65 feet in length from traveling faster than 10 knots in Cape Cod Bay from March 1 through April 30
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration also has a complementary 10-knot seasonal speed restriction in and around Cape Cod Bay for vessels longer than 65 feet

As our nation and campuses become more diverse
academic librarians are well positioned to play an important role in retaining underrepresented and nontraditional students at our institutions
The University of Houston (UH) has more than 40,000 students from 137 nations
Many of them are first-generation or nontraditional students
UH is changing from a commuter school to a flagship destination research university
Campus initiatives like “UH in 4,” which locks in tuition rates for students committed to following a four-year graduation plan
provide incentives and support for students
But with our six-year graduation rate currently at 48.1% and four-year graduation rate at 22.7%
with our library’s lower floors devoted to technology and meeting spaces
students rarely see our collections beyond the first floor’s leisure reading
If they don’t already know how to search the catalog and understand the configuration of the book stacks
books on study skills and academic success can be powerful tools for students struggling to adjust to university culture
But students first have to be able to find these books
Students who need these types of books the most can often feel the least comfortable navigating the stacks
our books on building study skills and academic success were spread across a wide range of call numbers
after creating a collection that is placed on our high-traffic first floor
we have been able to increase these books’ visibility
Not only have we pulled existing books related to academic success from their regular stacks
we reinforced the collection with Learning Support Services (LSS)
a campus academic counseling and support unit
to find titles that speak to the diverse student groups it works with
In addition to general titles that promote study skills
like Orientation to College Learning (Cengage
we purchased titles geared toward particular student populations
such as Getting Ahead as an International Student (Open University Press
The Adult Student’s Guide to Survival and Success (Practical Psychology Press
Studying with Dyslexia (Palgrave Macmillan
Finding Success as a Returning Veteran or Military Student (Prentice Hall
and The Latino Student’s Guide to College Success (Greenwood
We also selected books to help students understand the skills and culture of specific academic disciplines
like Writing for Engineers (Palgrave Macmillan
Learning Skills for the Science Student (Brooks/Cole Publishing
and Business Degree Success: A Practical Study Guide for Business Students at College and University (Palgrave Macmillan
Our partnership with LSS has extended beyond collection development; we publicize their information and workshop schedules each semester
and LSS sends students to our shelves to find particular resources
With a 70% checkout rate in the first eight months
the data shows that if students encounter these resources
Our greatest challenge is keeping books on the shelf
As we continue to develop the collection with new funding
we are considering adding mental health and wellness books to support a well-rounded
We encourage others to look at their unique campus populations to develop specialized collections that can contribute to student success for all

And in our role as stalwart information warriors

Marshall Breeding writes: “The library technology industry showed its maturity in 2024
Businesses have become increasingly stable and robust products delivered rich functionality
But decades of consolidation have created a narrower slate of competitors
resulting in a smaller number of products available for each type and size of library
The marketplace is seeing more specialized solutions but fewer options
Companies continue to tailor products to the diverging service needs and collections of public
Library services platforms designed for academic libraries
This stratification further narrows customers’ choices.”

I know that photo editing software is critical to my workflow to bring out the best in my images
whether to make changes to exposure and add bokeh [the aesthetic blurring of out-of-focus areas] or other creative effects
Adobe Lightroom is the gold standard for many photographers
but many alternative online photo editors are also excellent options
We have a great selection of options for you to test out

Veronica Fu writes: “At first glance, libraries might appear to be unaffected by Trump’s tariffs. The official list of exempt items released by the White House includes [printed books]
But the reassurance this offers libraries is limited
For libraries that depend on international vendors to supply books
the ripple effects of Trump’s tariffs could include disrupted shipping routes
and a growing pile of administrative red tape
this is a moment in which libraries must lead with intention.”

Jennifer Peterson writes: “In my time as a youth services librarian
I visited with thousands of school children each school year in the fall and spring months to promote books
Here are my top five tips I can offer as you get ready to promote your summer reading program to students this spring.”

Hannah Weinberg writes: “This week marks 100 days since President Trump’s January 20 inauguration. It has also been approximately 45 days since Trump signed the March 14 executive order that called for stripping the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) down to its ‘non-statutory and component functions.’ Censorship attempts persist
previously granted IMLS funding has been canceled
and library staffers continue to make difficult decisions about how to best maintain services for their communities
Following is American Libraries’ update on the challenges libraries and librarians continue to fight under the Trump administration.”

KY (WAVE) - A Louisville man accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend has made his first appearance before a judge
is facing charges of murder and domestic violence
A wanton endangerment charge was also added because of a child who was at the scene when the crime occurred
12 authorities discovered Porcia Mills' body at her apartment on Phyllis Avenue after friends requested a welfare check

Dorsey was appointed a public defender and will back in court December 29

Mills' friends said Zayden is in the custody of his father
UofL Physicians Bingham Clinic child psychiatrist Allan Josephson said it is unlikely Zayden will remember the way his mother died
but he may recognize the feeling of being left alone for two days without food or water
"Just the trauma of being alone and unattended to for a very young child is very traumatic and that, probably more than death, would be a memory that they might remember," he said.Dr. Josephson said what is more critical to Zaydens' memory is what he has experienced over the two years. He says children start to remember things in fragments at ages 3 to 4.Dorsey declined an interview request from WAVE 3 News.Copyright 2014 WAVE 3 News

For the launch of La Grande Dame 2012 in 2020, Veuve Clicquot had called on Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama
who adorned the champagne bottle and case with her distinctive polka dots and flower motifs
Anyone familiar with Paronetto’s detailed artworks will recognise her interpretation just as easily.
‘La Grande Dame embodies Veuve Clicquot’s exceptional savoir-faire as well as our love of pinot noir,’ says Jean-Marc Gallot
we are honoured to collaborate with Paola Paronetto
she has created a new collection of six gift boxes in hues from her unique personal palette of more than 86 shades
the whole is a symphony of colours that harmoniously blend together.’
Paronetto is known for creating ceramic works with seemingly fragile forms and proportions that appear to be made of paper
‘My first encounter with ceramics occurred when I was 18 years old
when an Umbrian maestro came to my town and I joined his course
soft material that was difficult to tame but immediately captivated me.’
I became frustrated and felt the need to push those boundaries.’ Her encounter with paper clay in 2000 was a game changer
‘I had to work hard to find my personal recipe and solutions to keep objects standing
to convey an image of movement and lightness
something not immediately associated with ceramics.’
using a lengthy and partially secret method that involves the addition of paper pulp to a clay mixture
her pieces are delicate but structurally sound
They are available in textural variants inspired by nature – Cartoccio (husk)
Rete (net) – and because they are opaque rather than shiny
the pieces absorb light and change colour as the day progresses
making them appear to be in motion rather than static
While her output ranges from vases to lamps
‘I immediately saw this connection with Veuve Clicquot
and had the idea to make bottle-shaped boxes
Due to a desire to avoid any paper waste and make the packaging sustainable
we chose a more traditional champagne case with a texture similar to the Cartoccio bottle
whose lines generate distinct light and colour effects.’
escapism and design stories from around the world direct to your inbox
The visit to her studio begins with her office
which features shelves loaded with pieces from her collections (‘I love seeing my pieces together as a tribute to the theme of being together
a corridor lined with plants and equally packed shelves leads to the kiln room
The connection between the textures and palette of Paronetto’s paper clay creations and those of La Grande Dame is clear when the two are placed side by side: ‘My ceramics usually look like paper
tailor made and completely sustainable.’
Paronetto says her interpretation of La Grande Dame 2015 is imbued with a message of optimism and embodies the importance of female empowerment: ‘Madame Clicquot’s story moved me because of her strength
tenacity and willingness to innovate,’ says Paronetto
referring to the hurdles the female entrepreneur had to overcome as a young widow in an industry dominated by men
but she chose to pursue her vision.’ The champagne house and the artist also share a connection to nature: ‘Veuve Clicquot works with vineyards
so is always involved with nature and the seasons,’ says Paronetto
Paronetto used the iconic Veuve Clicquot yellow as a starting point
and expanded the palette to include six nature-inspired shades for the boxes that mimic her paper clay technique
‘We knew that the label would be the focal point
and I worked with colours that would go well with a yellow
the centre of everything,’ adds Paronetto
‘I placed it next to the sky with a pair of blues
a green that can’t be missed with its connection to nature

Greek myth pervaded Roman art and figured artefacts well into late antiquity, and the large Hellenistic back catalogue of mythological images provided a protean and expressive repertoire capable of responding to almost any contemporary need. We want then to understand Roman choices: why that heroic story for this place, time and context, and how were its inherited visual schemes, which made the story recognisable, adjusted for its new setting?

U of T celebrates its connections to the Asia-Pacific region Read More
A gala event marking the Asia-Pacific launch of the Boundless campaign and honouring U of T’s decades-long relationship with people in the region drew more than 250 alumni and friends to the W Hotel in Hong Kong in October
co-hosted by U of T president David Naylor and alumna Daisy Ho (MBA 1990)
also recognized two significant gifts to the fundraising campaign
who chairs the University of Toronto (Hong Kong) Foundation
has given $2 million to support visiting scholars and undergraduate exchanges – initiatives that are seen as central to the university’s goal of improving the student experience in an era of globalization
Her gift will fund two specific projects: an Award for Emerging Leaders at the Rotman School of Management
designed to attract the brightest international academic fellows; and a major new undergraduate program to encourage student research projects on contemporary China and student exchanges with Chinese institutions
who is now deputy managing director of Shun Tak Holdings
says she never studied harder in her life than when she attended Rotman
“I think what helps me to push myself along in my career is the perseverance and the determination that U of T instilled in me,” she says
also announced a $4-million gift – from an anonymous donor – to establish a chair in Chinese-Canadian Studies at University College
“The chair will be the cornerstone of a new program to promote understanding and awareness of the significant contributions of Chinese-Canadians to our country,” he said
The chair will reinforce another long-standing initiative supporting cultural exchange – the University of Toronto (Hong Kong) Foundation scholarships
which have brought more than 60 students to U of T from Hong Kong since 1995
“These scholarships have changed lives and opened doors of opportunity that otherwise have been beyond the means of promising young leaders,” Palmer said
David Naylor noted that collaboration between U of T faculty members and their peers in the Asia-Pacific region goes back more than a century
U of T faculty and students have also benefited from dozens of inter-university partnerships across the Asia-Pacific region
from MBA exchange programs to engineering collaborations
more than 10,000 international students attend U of T
with about 75 per cent of them coming from China
perspectives and disciplines is more important than ever before,” Naylor said
“The global challenges we face together are complex
multifaceted and interconnected – from our substantial thirst for energy
to the vitality of urban regions; from cyber security to food security.”
The celebration was one of a number of U of T events designed to celebrate and strengthen the engagement of alumni and academic partners in the region
President Naylor spoke at the Science and Technology in Society Forum in Kyoto
hosted an alumni event at the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo
and delivered a keynote address to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce
which drew the highest attendance in its history

Wondering if anyone can supply names for the picture above (the Hong Kong Gala Committee) - aside from the two provided in the caption - trying to match names to faces
The daughters of a Lincolnshire woman who died after falling ill at a five-star resort on a holiday in Cape Verde say they have been left searching for answers over her death
Jane Pressley, 62, from Gainsborough
died just over three weeks after falling ill while on her birthday trip to Riu Palace Resort
is among 350 other people taking legal action against the tour operator TUI
alleging they all fell ill while staying at the resort
are supporting their stepfather's legal battle
and say they want to seek accountability over their mother's death to ensure no one else suffers the pain they have endured
A picture of Mrs Pressley wearing sunglasses on a sun lounger was the last picture taken of her before she fell fatally ill
she began developing gastric and flu-like symptoms including vomiting and diarrhoea
She died three weeks later in hospital in the UK
who was pregnant with her first child when her mother died
As a precautionary measure to protect Porcia and her unborn child
she could only see her mum through the hospital door glass
until her final moments.Porcia: "I got to say goodbye
and Porcia says he reminds her of her mother
"There's a lot of my mum in me and he's already a lot like me."
the sisters can't discuss the details of the allegations around the circumstances leading up to her death
or the cases of the hundreds of others involved in their stepfather's lawsuit against tour operator TUI UK Ltd.The sisters said there had not been an autopsy or an inquest into their mother's death
and they did not have clarity on whether those processes could - or should have - been offered to the family in the UK
Their mum had a pre-existing condition of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
but the sisters said the condition was well-managed and it did not stop her from leading a full life
Mrs Pressley had weathered three bouts of Covid without ever becoming particularly unwell and was fully vaccinated
said: "She was nowhere near ready to die
People can lead a normal life with COPD and she was
That's why we know she wasn't ready."
"She was a proper fighter," Porcia added
The sisters said it particularly hurt to see their mum die so soon after their grandmother
She had so much life in her," Porcia added
arrived at the Riu Palace resort on November 27 and returned to the UK on December 12
Mrs Pressley began developing gastric and flu-like symptoms including vomiting and diarrhoea
Mr Pressley recovered within a week of falling unwell
But Mrs Pressley continued to suffer symptoms
The doctors treating her suspected she had a bacterial infection and administered antibiotics
But she died less than two weeks later on January 5
her husband engaged specialist international serious injury lawyers at Irwin Mitchell to launch legal action against TUI UK Ltd in connection with his wife's illness and death
A death certificate confirmed her cause of death to be "infective exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease," the law firm Irwin Mitchell said
said her mother's deterioration shocked the family
"We thought mum was just being silly on Christmas Eve when we were told she was on the way to hospital..
"Unfortunately she started losing her marbles and that's when we knew something wasn't right."
spending shifts keeping vigil at her mother's bedside
and was horrified to witness her condition decline
The sisters said their mum had been "excited" about her birthday trip
they are struggled to explain her death to her grieving grandchildren
Her husband earlier told of his daily struggle to understand what had happened.
"To lose her so suddenly has absolutely devastated us all," Michael Pressley said
"She was the most amazing person and enjoyed nothing more than being around family; we’re all totally lost without her
a TUI spokesperson said: "Our thoughts and sympathies remain with the Pressley family
it would not be appropriate for us to comment further."
ITV News has also approached the RIU Hotels group for comment
Porcia said her mother was deeply missed by her family and those who she worked with as a care assistant: "She was fun - she was just so funny
She continued: "I think I would like someone to be held accountable so this never happens again
Lucy added: "We don't want anyone else to go through what we went through
The pain we're in - we don't want anyone else to go through it."
"My mum would have been the first to advocate for it...
we're just trying to do what she would want."

Following an extensive Wiltshire Police investigation
eight people have been jailed for a multi-million-pound conspiracy to supply cocaine across the southwest
the group – led by brothers Warren and Kelroy Allison – used encrypted communications networks to ship more than 70kg of cocaine across the region
purchasing in bulk and then breaking it down into smaller quantities to distribute onwards
Following a twelve-week trial at Winchester Crown Court
they were sentenced yesterday (06/02) to a combined 82 years’ imprisonment
the eight defendants were sentenced as follows:
for two counts of conspiracy to supply cocaine: 23 YEARS
for one count of conspiracy to supply cocaine: 16.5 YEARS
for one count of conspiracy to supply cocaine: 9 YEARS
for one count of conspiracy to supply cocaine: 8 YEARS
for one count of conspiracy to supply cocaine: 7 YEARS 4 MONTHS
for one count of conspiracy to supply cocaine: 6 YEARS 8 MONTHS
for one count of conspiracy to supply cocaine: 4 YEARS
Investigating officer DC Matthew Harvey of SOCU said: “This investigation has systematically broken up a significant operation which was dealing huge amounts of cocaine across not just Wiltshire but the southwest region and beyond
dealt between 2016 and 2020 will have contributed to the social
health and economic impact that cocaine has in the country
such as the associated issues of anti-social behaviour
drug-related violence and acquisitive crime
“There is also the considerable violence and exploitation which takes place along the supply chain
“The ringleader behind the organised crime group
has now been sentenced to more than two decades’ imprisonment
while his brother Kelroy has been jailed for more than 16 years
“Their wider associates have also been jailed for several years
Intelligence from this operation enabled numerous other targeted arrests
operations and disruptions to be made to many other organised criminals across our region with whom the Allison brothers had been criminally associating with
“I hope these sentences show that those involved in organised criminal activity are not untouchable or above the law – there are dedicated teams targeting these individuals
“I want to highlight the importance of community intelligence in cracking a case like this
“We know that Warren purchased numerous high value vehicles
These extravagant displays of wealth do not go unnoticed by the public
“If there’s anything which you think could be suspicious
Any piece of intelligence could be vital.”
