This article was originally featured in the June/July edition of The Met Golfer
2022) — If you tell Ian Posillipo he can’t do something
when it comes to competition there is no one fiercer
a condition that impairs the growth of bone in the limbs and causes abnormal growth in the spine and skull
Ian has been underestimated his whole life
but instead of letting that get him down Ian chooses the alternative route
“When people make fun of me or underestimate me
it eats into me and that makes me really want to work
People have been doing that my whole life and I just go out and show them they’re wrong every time.”
Related: Youth on Course | MGA Foundation
Ian is a sports nut and as competitive as they come
Currently 15 years old and a sophomore in high school
hockey team as well as the school’s golf team
and according to head golf coach William Branti
“No one competes harder than he does,” said Branti
I’d say he’s the most popular kid on the team and you can’t help but have a smile on your face when you’re around him.”
The “bulldog” mentality that Ian personifies isn’t just recognized by his high school coach
used those exact words when talking about Ian
I think his nickname was the bulldog,” said Laudien
there is such a big mental component to it
but no one is going to outwork him or be able to get into his head.”
Laudien is a big reason why Ian has thrived since seriously taking up golf roughly three years ago
he was using a set of junior clubs because they were the right height – but because of Ian’s strength
the flex of the shafts did not match his capabilities
“He started cutting down clubs and making a custom set for Ian,” said Sharon Posillipo
“He’s a busy guy and he went well out of his way to make that happen for Ian
they don’t make clubs for someone his size who is as strong as he is.”
hitting balls on the range all summer and doing the same at his home simulator in the winter
a program with which the MGA Foundation has partnered that allows junior golfers discounted access to courses throughout Rockland County and all around the Met Area
Shortly after Ian received the custom set of clubs from Laudien
While the clubs aren’t perfect – Sharon is still actively looking to help Ian secure a set that suits his game – Ian has steadily improved
“My biggest goal this year is to break 80,” Ian says
“I shoot around 85 most rounds so I want to keep getting better in all areas and shoot something in the 70s for the first time this summer.”
Despite his competitive fire and constant drive to get better
Ian says he enjoys golf because he can just have a good time
who also played on the high school team at North Rockland
“Golf is just a lot of fun to play,” says Ian
“Sometimes I get angry because I always want to be perfect
but that’s impossible in golf and I realize that
I play a lot with my friends and that’s the best part about it to me.”
and you certainly can’t judge a book by its cover,” Sharon says
the golf community has been so accepting of him
There will always be those people that don’t think he can do it
but Ian will just prove them wrong as well.”
“When we show up to the courses for matches
“By the end of the round they’re all high-fiving
Ian just wins them over with his personality and drive to be better
I wish I had a little bit of Ian in me to be quite honest.”
He’s an agitator in the best way possible and makes those around him better
“I’m not just saying this because I’m his mom
but it’s impossible not to root for him,” says Sharon
“He has overcome so much in his life already and h never makes excuses
He is truly an inspiration to me and to a lot of people.”
“The only way you can’t do something is if you don’t try,” says Posillipo

Nestled on the promontory of Posillipo Hill overlooking the Bay of Naples is Villa Pausilypon
gardens and other structures still are visible
Part of an archaeological park and nature preserve
Villa Pausilypon offers a glimpse of the hard-partying summer life of the Roman Empire’s elite
It’s at Baia and other locations along Naples’ coastline that the general and statesman Julius Caesar; one of his assassins
Marcus Brutus; the infamous emperor Nero; and others would drink
listen to music and pursue other pleasures in opulent villas with stunning views of Mount Vesuvius and the Tyrrhenian Sea
Villa Pausilypon was the summer home of Publius Vedius Pollio
a Roman equivalent of a knight and friend of the first Roman emperor Augustus
Pollio was known for his lavish lifestyle and cruelty
He kept a pool of lampreys — jawless fish with toothed
funnel-like sucking mouths — to torture and kill servants who displeased him
who reportedly put a stop to that practice
inherited the villa when Pollio died in 15 B.C
The property later became an official imperial estate
Accompanied visits are free but scheduled just once a day and do not include any interpretative talks about the site
visitors must first traverse Grotta di Seiano
a nearly 2,300-foot-long Roman tunnel that connects the town of Bagnoli and the large volcanic caldera known as Campi Flegrei to the Gaiola valley
The tunnel was used to transport goods not only to the villa but also the village near it
a single air hole that keeps it remarkably well-ventilated and another room dug out into the wall that once was likely used as a restroom
the tunnel was used as an air-raid shelter for Bagnoli’s residents
Its western end is marked by the remains of the headstone bearing an ancient Roman engraving from the grave of a freed man
short walk on a meandering path lined with Mediterranean trees
you’ll see the remains of the villa and its private theater straight ahead
On the right is what was once a 2,000-seat public amphitheater built into the hillside
Visitors can’t walk on or sit in the amphitheater but can admire its architecture
it’s incorporated into the natural beauty of the landscape
An adjacent building was not part of the original estate and likely was built later by a successive emperor
the tour takes visitors to a terrace with views of the Gaiola marine preserve and the island of Nisida
where Brutus is thought to have had a villa and potentially hatched the plot to kill Caesar
sitting well apart from other theatergoers with an unobstructed view of the stage
probably listened to musical performances or heard poetry readings
The 90-minute tour also includes a short walk through a few rooms with ancient tilework and a fresco
and a view of a small garden laid out in a geometric pattern
which also included a Nymphaeum or room with a fountain and plants
Excavation and studies of the villa are ongoing
A visit to Villa Pausilypon offers a chance to explore some of Naples’ less well-known but equally important archaeological sites while enjoying the sun and sea views of Posillipo
How to get there: Public transportation is limited but there is bus service to the site
The park is an easy drive from most places in Naples
Cost: 7 euros for adults; 4 euros for children
ages 7-14; and children 6 and under free for guided tours
Accompanied entry (without a guided tour) is free

The Posillipo School was a pictorial experience of a group of artists gathered in Naples
beginning in the second decade of the 19th century
devoted mainly to landscape painting practiced outdoors
The School was inaugurated by the Dutch painter Anton Sminck van Pitloo
later passing to his Neapolitan pupil Giacinto Gigante
It represented an important moment for local Neapolitan and Italian painting
within a broader European context that tended toward the celebration of the landscape genre beyond its ideal and historical representation.Pitloo
inspired by Parthenopean landscape beauty and customs
succeeded in capturing and conveying to his pupils the atmospheric values of nature by establishing a personal
as a representative of a family of painters who clustered around Pitloo
accentuated the use of stain and ’impression from life
liveliness and typical Neapolitan character in his works
exerted a strong attraction on at least two generations of painters
experienced a prolific moment with the Posillipo School
In 1816 the Dutchman Anton Sminck van Pitloo (Arnhem
1837) arrived from Rome and cultivated his artistic interests in the city
finding an ideal patronage and a fruitful stimulus for his work
so much so that in 1820 he founded a private school of painting
which already found wide acceptance in the decade 1825-1835
It was so named because observation of the city took place from the heights of Posillipo
a hillside district that allowed views with panoramic perspectives
most Barbizon artists along the 1930s approached landscape painting in a naturalistic way
making careful observations and painting outdoors to faithfully reproduce the colors and shapes of the countryside
who visited Naples between 1817 and 1821 and in 1828
in turn exported the experiences he had in Italy during his Grand Tour
included stops in Italy’s most important cities of art
At the same time, in the first half of the 19th century, the spirit of the Romanticism painters were spreading in Europe
who turned their attention to nature and outdoor painting
in works based on close observation of the landscape
devoting themselves to depicting the subjective reaction
the inner life in relation to the surrounding nature
Pitloo also got to know the work of the most important English landscape painter of the time William Turner (Covent Garden
who was present in Naples between 1819 and 1828
later transfused into his schooling to his students at Posillipo
In addition to what might have been favorite places in the depiction of the Neapolitan area
the excavations of Pompeii and Herculaneum
the Posillipo painters turned to depicting nature around the urban area and its bright Mediterranean atmosphere
To the Posillipo School belonged many young artists destined to become proponents of a renewed fortune in landscape painting
the most significant of whom were Achille Vianelli
Salvatore Fergola as well as Giacinto Gigante (Naples
gradually and for some years took over the reins of the school
one of the representatives of his family who attended and supported the activities at Posillipo
The artistic enthusiasms had infected entire family units
such as The “Carelli” with his father Raffaele and three sons Consalvo
the “Fergola” with the progenitor Luigi
and Salvatore’s son Francesco; the “Witting” with Teodoro
and his son Gustavo; and precisely the “Gigante” with Gaetano
In what is considered the second phase of the School
also in relation to the new realist tendencies-which in Naples were introduced above all by the brothers Filippo and Giuseppe Palizzi-and to the demands of patrons
which made the lyricism of painting carried on in Posilippo out of date
Until a gradual exhaustion of expressive vitality
Since 1851 Giacinto Gigante had entered as a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples
going on to an institutional career that led him in 1867 and 1869 to the Universal Exhibition in Paris
Pitloo’s stylistic innovation was to introduce observation from life of nature and the rendering of transient effects of light and color from drawing
“en plein air” from preliminary sketches
much as the Barbizon School in France was experimenting with
The artist introduced in Naples the technique of oil painting on intel paper (mounted on canvas or cardboard)
The guiding idea was to reach the completion of the painting without second thoughts
and in such a way as to grasp the mutability of light
Until the late 1920s his interpretation of landscape was still classical
before he devoted himself to the search for atmospheric rendering(The Castle of Baia
So that even the early production of the Posillipo School was more traditional
Pitloo over the years abandoned classicist vedutismo to move toward a decidedly more lyrical reproduction of the naturalistic datum
as understood by the Romantic painters of his contemporaries
in order to represent personal suggestions derived from direct observation of places(Castel dell\’Ovo from the beach
1820-1824).After his death from a cholera epidemic
became the most original interpreter of the poetics that wanted to add the emotional component to the landscape image
Gigante arrived at updated stylistic results compared to European painting
emancipating Neapolitan landscape painting
With his practice he changed the perspective from which painters looked at subjects
the artist having favored narrow fields of vision
and with the choice of also depicting people in the act of performing everyday actions
The countryside and the coast prevailed (Gabriele Smargiassi
with constant variations of recurring themes
The value of the work no longer lay in the nobility of the subject
in the painter’s personal reaction to the theme
Gigante excelled in ’watercolor(Chapel of San Gennaro at the cathedral during the miracle of blood
1863) and in representations of pure color(Sunset at Caserta
which would become customary in art only later with Impressionism

OCEAN – Posillipo Restaurant will re-open in January
nearly two years after a fire destroyed the old-style Italian eatery
The new spot is the former location of Mike & Nellie's Steakhouse on Route 35
which closed in 2012 and where Posillipo's owner David Cesar Espinosa obtained a lease
"It's a great location to start the business again
adding that he was not ready to see the Posillipo's tradition end

Posillipo was opened in Asbury Park in 1929 by Felix Giordano
Through a series of sales to trusted friends
the restaurant ownership passed to Sammarco in 1969 who
Espinosa closed the Asbury Park location but re-opened in March 2014 on Route 35 in Ocean after getting many requests from former customers
He brought a lot of the restaurant's original memorabilia with him to the new place
it was gutted by a fire that was ruled accidental by officials
but we lost a lot when Posillipo's burned," Espinosa said
The new restaurant will keep with the same blue and white decor

MONSEY — Ian Posillipo alley-ooped the puck past the blue line
removing it from deep in North Rockland’s defensive end
In the couple of third-period shifts he played
he also cleared the puck way down the ice
but not so far that it would be brought back on an icing call
he'd take and win a defensive-end faceoff
These things didn’t make a big difference in Rye’s recent 9-0 rout of North Rockland
But they did show Posillipo as he wants to be seen — as a contributing member of his high school ice hockey team
But regardless of whether and how much he grows
is made up for in his willingness to battle
He doesn’t see himself as different from anyone else,” Sharon explained
“When I’m against bigger kids in the corner
I’m not afraid at all,” Ian said
who has also played golf and baseball, credits his mom for never stopping him from pursuing something he wants to do
TUOHY RUNS WELL: Cross-country: Katelyn Tuohy helps N.C. State take second at NCAA championships
THIRD-TIME CHARM: Mahopac's Ryan Caraher is The Journal News/lohud Player of the Week
UPSET: Iona Prep's Saccomanno with huge saves as Iona Prep hands Chaminade first loss
“She has definitely pushed me farther,” he said
“I have always wanted to teach him he can do anything
He’s not anybody’s victim out there,” North Rockland High coach Gary Dworkovitz said
That’s probably why Ian has been given big roles on his North Rockland Youth Hockey Association club team
Two were last year when his club team won both a tournament championship and a travel league championship
The final game of the travel championship was played in New Jersey. His team was up 3-2 late when Ian was on the ice
helping kill the other team’s 5-on-3 power play
He was given a similar assignment this year during a club team tournament
North Rockland led 2-1 with 33 seconds to play
then pulled its goalie to add a sixth skater
The puck was in North Rockland’s defensive end
but the other team couldn’t get it because Ian trapped it between his skates along the boards
he kept it moving to avoid a faceoff being called
“He wasted 30 seconds,” Raymond said with a proud grin
“The other (team’s) parents were yelling to knock him down," Raymond noted
But that's hardly easy to do. Ian's a muscular 90 pounds
‘Holy cow,’ “ his dad mused
his team and the varsity team held a plank competition
including kids five years older and tons bigger
He held a plank for eight straight minutes
“He’s extremely determined,” Sharon said. “He does very well for himself
His grit and determination pull him through everything.”
Dworkowitz has known Ian for years through the North Rockland Youth Hockey Association
where Dworkowitz currently serves as hockey director
Dworkowitz also coached Ian’s brother
who has gone from the North Rockland team to play club hockey at Quinnipiac University
But with sports seasons delayed and condensed due to the coronavirus
Section 1 scrapped modified athletics for the season
When Ian asked him whether he should play varsity
Dworkowitz didn’t hesitate to say yes
Getting into two of North Rockland five games
Ian never made a score sheet with a goal or an assist
he checked almost every other invisible plus-side box that could be checked
the leadership his dad says comes with his "take-charge personality."
Dworkowitz talks about his good hand-eye coordination
which he first noticed when seeing Ian play Little League baseball
More impressive is his hockey IQ — his knowledge of the game and ability to read what’s going to happen — which Dworkowitz calls “very high.”
“and he gives everything he’s got.”
Most people seem to appreciate that but not all
especially those sometimes beaten by a kid who’s the height of many second-graders
The biggest assaults he has faced on the ice have been low verbal shots during club games
“He has had to put up with a lot of unkind stuff over the years,” Dworkowitz said
noting the word “midget,” for one
But Ian always resists taking the bait
“He has never retaliated,” Dworkowitz said
“He has this tremendous self-discipline we’re trying to get out of every person in our program
… He just takes it and keeps on going
It’s happened multiple times over the years.”
The players spouting them probably aren’t as good as he is
“It’s definitely something I had to grow into," he said
But then I started realizing they’re saying something just to say something.”
And Ian has his teammates for moral support
“(Players on his teams) don’t treat him any differently
whether he’s 4 feet or 6 feet,” Sharon said
Dworkowitz compares many other kids' almost routine anger over small matters to Ian and how he doesn’t focus on his size and what it costs him
He just keeps going forward and heading down the path
He takes responsibility,” Dworkowitz said. “He doesn’t focus or waste time thinking about what he doesn’t have
‘This is what interscholastic sports is supposed to be about.’ He doesn’t stop
… He’s a real-life example.”
He’s also a kid who chooses to view his size disadvantage in hockey as something of an advantage
I’m able to get under sticks easier and move the puck easier,” he said
Coaches and teammates have both offered him simple advice he follows like a religion: “Work as hard as you can.”
Ian wants to become an ice hockey coach or hockey broadcaster
“He knows his hockey up one side and down the other,” Sharon said
her husband and Dworkowitz are confident he'll succeed at whatever he chooses to do
mentioning his player’s "sticktoitiveness," said
His parents’ advice for now and the future
“Follow your dreams,” his mom explained
That's what Ian is doing every time he steps on the ice

David Cesar Espinosa’s dream went down in flames
Posillipo’s — the restaurant where Espinosa first worked when he immigrated here at age 16
and the one that he and his brother Servio worked so hard to reopen and restore — was destroyed Wednesday in an early morning blaze
Police said the fire does not appear to be suspicious
“I got so excited last week when we opened
We had a small crowd and then this morning I get a call that the place is on fire,” said Espinosa
Espinosa’s connection to Posillipo’s goes back to 1980
The teenager spoke little English at the time
He treated me like family,” Espinosa said of his bond with Sammarco
“I spent holidays at his home with his family.”
At that time the restaurant was located in Asbury Park on Second Avenue
Sammarco had purchased it from the original owner who was his father’s business partner
Giordano had opened it in 1929 and did not want to sell it to someone he did not trust
The Italian restaurant was known for its homemade pasta and opera music
not wanting the establishment to pass into the wrong hands either
she sold it to Espinosa and his brother Servio
Espinosa said he was forced to close the restaurant in 2010 because he had no parking in the city
But bringing back Posillipo’s remained his dream: “People kept asking me ‘Open Posillipo’s
It was only last week he was finally able to reopen Posillipo’s after meticulously renovating Don Chucho to recreate the old world charm that patrons of Posillipo’s came to appreciate
the restaurant was already fully engulfed in flames
when Officer Corly Cole responded at 4:25 a.m
Oakhurst Fire Company and Tinton Falls Fire District 1 rushed to the scene
By the time the flames were extinguished at 7:30 a.m
The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s office
Oakhurst District 1 Fire Marshal and Ocean Township Police Detective Sgt
Faller said the fire did not seem suspicious
Patrons of the restaurant were mourning its loss Wednesday
He made it look just like the old Posillipo’s with the white moldings and pale blue wall,” said Joy Betesh
“He had so much memorabilia from the old restaurant” in there
who was a customer at the original location
said she visited the new restaurant for the first time Tuesday evening
“He showed me an old menu from 1935 when a homemade pasta dish cost a quarter
I woke up this morning to this terrible news,” Betesh said
She described Espinosa as a man who has persevered before and someone who she thinks can persevere through this tragedy
Espinosa was noticeably shaken Wednesday afternoon
“I think first I will sit down with my brother and talk with our insurance
STONY POINT – A 21-year-old Stony Point man was killed Wednesday and three others were injured in a one-car crash on Gate Hill Road

The mayor of Naples has decided to cap the number of sunbathers on Posillipo’s beaches
Neapolitans are good at finding loopholes
Silvia Marchetti
I recently visited Naples on a scorching hot day and after some sightseeing I decided to take a dip in its mythological sea
I headed to the city’s main beach of Posillipo
furious mothers holding sweaty kids in their arms were yelling at the cop at the beach entrance in a tight Neapolitan dialect I couldn’t understand
The mayor of Naples has decided to cap the number of sunbathers on Posillipo’s beaches and nearby inlets
in an attempt to preserve the coastal environment from the tourist summer rampage
People must now book online for a spot on the sand and can only enter via specific private beach clubs
But Neapolitans have a hard time abiding by rules
Since it’s day one of the new restrictions
the poor cop turned a blind eye to the mass of angry
wild beachgoers and let in more people than were strictly allowed
I was panting and couldn’t wait to jump in the water
But first I had to make my way through the “labyrinth of flesh” sprawled on the sand
I zig-zagged past a family with eight children who had just finished eating their spaghetti co ’a Pummarola ’ncopp (with tomato sauce)
and which had then set about platefuls of meatballs followed by watermelon slices – fullface in – the oozy seeds sliding down their necks
Another family had set-up two camping tents for the children to play in
and had brought along coffee and limoncello
A group of friends had connected their iPhone to a boom box
Images of Dante’s Divine Comedy came to my mind
those hellish scenes where souls are burning and screaming
trapped within their own sins and passions
The air smelt of sweat mixed with suntan lotion and cigarettes
I managed to find a tiny spot for my towel
no way to lie down without hitting my head on the feet of the couple behind me
Posillipo’s beach is rather small and above it sits an abandoned rather ghostly 17th-century palazzo
commissioned by a duchess who left it incomplete
I wanted so badly to take off my clothes and dive into the translucent water
but all I could do was sit there paralysed
My sunblock had started to wear off and my head was spinning
There’s nothing worse than craving the cool water knowing that you’ll first have to climb over a wall of other people
a 23-year-old Neapolitan student named Paolo asked me for a cigarette
“I hate these new beach restrictions,” he said
My friends and I will still get in without booking and paying
We can swim to the beach from a dinghy or my grandpa’s old fishing boat
Some things in Naples you can’t change,” he told me
That’s what I call “Neapolitan creativity”
It struck me all of a sudden that there’s always a way out of messy
So I asked Paolo to “escort” me to the water
He started yelling incomprehensible words to open up a passage in between all that suntanning flesh

May Day brought an influx of visitors and an environmental crisis to Posillipo
traditionally dedicated to the workers' holiday
saw the Lido delle Monache in Posillipo become the hub of a massive influx of visitors
brought with it unexpected and worrying consequences
the beach was transformed into a battlefield against waste
with piles of garbage left as evidence of the incivility of some bathers
MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli shared videos and images on social media documenting the critical situation of the Lido
shameful thing,” resonate as a cry of alarm for the local community and the competent authorities
The images show not only the amount of waste abandoned
but also the disinterest of some visitors towards the environment
This behavior is not only an aesthetic problem
but represents a threat to public health and the marine ecosystem
The situation at Lido delle Monache raises questions about collective responsibility and the importance of greater environmental education
It is essential that citizens understand the value of respect for the environment and the rules of civil coexistence
must intensify their efforts to ensure adequate waste management and promote awareness-raising initiatives
Only through shared commitment will it be possible to prevent similar episodes from happening again in the future

With the arrival of the bathing season 2023 in Naples
it is possible to book access to the renowned free beaches of Posillipo
These beaches offer access to the picturesque Donn'Anna beach (with 25 accesses each from Elena bathroom e Ideal bathroom) and to the serene beach of nuns (which allows 450 entries from Mermaids bathroom)
a significant increase over the previous year due to the restrictions imposed by covid19 pandemic
The online booking procedure for access to the beaches has been designed to be simple and straightforward. Just access the site managed by City of Naples (freebeaches.it) to reserve your entrance for the next day
The inputs can be made using the services of the Lidos
Il booking portal is available every day from 8: 00 to 23: 00
offering the possibility of programming one's own entry only and exclusively for the next day (there is no calendar)
It is important to note that any user can make al maximum three bookings per week
Making a reservation is simple and a few are enough data collected
Access to public city beaches di Posillipo is governed by a series of rules that users must respect
i minor they can access the beaches only if accompanied by an adult
Bringing is not allowed dogs on the beaches
as these are not equipped to accommodate them
5% of the available seats are reserved for Protected categories (in accordance with law 69/1999) and elderly (over 70)

we earn a commission from qualifying purchases through ticketing links
This commission does not entail any additional price for the user
Since June 30 2021 the entrance to the Beach of the Monks
perhaps the only free beach of Posillipo in Naples
will be on booking to ensure a more comfortable and safe entry
In this way you will avoid crowds and queues at the entrance and you will also have to respect some rules of behavior
The Beach of the Nuns is located near Palazzo Donn'Anna and is accessed by a gate a few meters from the Carelli Park
cross a private beach through a special platform that easily leads to the free beach
Recall that another beautiful free beach which accessed by reservation is the Gaiola
To book your entrance to the Spiaggia delle Monache you must use the appropriate one site of the Municipality of Naples
the same that is used to book access to some museums as well
Naples offers many opportunities for swimming during the summer in beautiful places on its coast
there are also several in the city free beaches where you can bathe and sunbathe and some of them are too equipped with bathrooms and showers
Surely the most beautiful coastline is the one that goes from Mergellina to Posillipo
a wonderful coast where you can also relax in coves and beaches accessible only by boat
but there are beautiful beaches also on the coast of Bacoli
so named in a period when it was considered more dirty
today is a beach equipped by the City of Naples
It is located right at the Rotonda Diaz and from the 2016 its sea is suitable for bathing
It is definitely one of the favorite destinations of the Neapolitans in the summer
This beach is very close to the Castel dell'Ovo
so we suggest to provide you with shoes to walk more comfortably on this hard material
between via Partenope and via Nazario Sauro
there is the free beach which is located at Largo Sermoneta
It is not very convenient because in the vicinity there are a boat and many rocks
It takes its name from the homonymous column between via Caracciolo and via Partenope
Easily accessible from the famous Lido Sirena of Posillipo
which has set up a special path that leads to the free beach
the Spiaggia delle Monache has a clear and colored sea between blue and green which has little to envy to overseas beaches
For summer 2022 it is limited and theaccess must be booked with the appropriate app
The beach of Riva Fiorita can be reached either by boat or on foot
but along a long stretch from Via Ferdinando Russo downhill
Offers one of the most striking views on the Gulf of Naples and is surrounded by stately and historical palaces
It is located at the foot of the ancient tower of Villa Volpicelli
Where: access by sea or from the Via Ferdinando Russo descent
You access the Gaiola beach along the route of the Discesa Gaiola
but once you arrive you will remain breathless
You can swim both on the side that leads to the Vesuvius and accessing thearea that overlooks the famous Villa in the middle of the sea
but in this case we must deliver a document of recognition because it is a marine protected area
Access is by reservation and must be usedappropriate app
The municipal beach of Bacoli was equipped with showers and toilets
you can only sunbathe there because there is still a ban on bathing due to the lack of water reclamation
Passing the famous Lido Marechiaro you reach the cliffs at the foot of the Palazzo degli Spiriti
an archaeological site surrounded by legends
It is a very suggestive place and its waters are crystal clear
but you can only come by hiring a boat for a few euros from the staff present
Where: access from the Calata Ponticello to Marechiaro
The Poggio beach is located in Bacoli and is considered a real oasis
a small corner of paradise in the Phlegraean area
It is located a few steps from the historic center of the town and
allows you to relax in its beautiful inlet
THEformer station of the Posillipo cable car
will have a new function: it will become a large luxury restaurant with a panoramic terrace which will give a truly wonderful view directly on the Gulf of Pozzuoli
The new view of the station will be made possible by the person who saw the tender of the Mostra d'Oltremare
The gang was selling the former cable car in via Manzoni 310
which for too many years had only been in abandonment and decay
Competing for the tender were several entrepreneurs e Neapolitan restaurateurs and one of these won with his project for a luxury restaurant
La Posillipo Alto-Mostra d'Oltremare cable car
the same year in which the Mostra d'Oltremare was inaugurated
to connect the promontory of Posillipo to Fuorigrotta and remained in operation until 1961
that in the years of the Second World War there were several closures mainly due to the bombings
but for a few decades why closed in the 90s
That's why for about 30 she has been left to herself
The project involves the construction of a fantastic luxurious restaurant
Owned by the Mostra d'Oltremare which has the majority shareholder in the Municipality of Naples
the former cable car station will now be owned by a private individual
The choice was made by the Exhibition because the property "it is not considered strategic for its development program“
Therefore in 2014 it was decided to put it up for sale after the positive opinion of the Superintendency
Of course the new owner will have to ensure its conservation and integrity
as well as ensuring the "restoration of the original architectural characteristics of the buildings"
the exhibition will strive for break down building abuses which were made before the signing of the new sales contract
This commission does not entail any additional price for the user.
