Rozzano facility to heat water of 5,000 homes
Telecom Italia (TIM) has connected its data center outside Milan to a local district heating scheme
The Italian telco this week announced waste heat from its TIM Enterprise data center in Rozzano will be used to warm more than 5,000 homes in the ALER district
TIM's chief enterprise and innovative solutions officer
said: “A milestone achieved first in Italy
thanks to the collaboration with GETEC and the Municipality of Rozzano
which testifies how TIM Enterprise is able to guarantee sustainable growth
making the operation of our plants even more efficient also from the energy consumption point of view.”
The project was done in partnership with GETEC and its subsidiary Atmos
TIM said it is the first such heat reuse project in the country and will save 3,500 tons of CO2 emissions annually
“The partnership between us and TIM is a concrete step in the energy transition of our cities,” added Giovanni Pontrelli
confirms our commitment to industrial development in Italy
promoting innovative and tailor-made solutions that accelerate decarbonization with more efficient energy models."
The heat generated by the facility is captured and redirected through the use of heat exchangers and pumps
“Rozzano is the first municipality in Italy to use an innovative energy source for district heating,” said Maria Laura Guido
“Using heat that would otherwise be lost is a useful and responsible choice
Rozzano is one of the municipalities that adopts technologies capable of reducing CO2 emissions and bringing concrete benefits to the community.”
and have or are set to connect data centers to district heating schemes

Despite the San Siro being saved from demolition by a government intervention
world-famous stadium architects Populous announced initial plans for a new Inter Milan stadium in Rozzano at the end of last year
According to a local heritage commission in Milan
an earlier plan agreed upon by both clubs to demolish the football ground has been abandoned
It also means the current tenants of San Siro are seriously considering constructing their stadiums soon
AC Milan have shared San Siro with AC Milan since 1947
the latter have enjoyed a longer stay at the iconic ground since 1926
Inter Milan have received a major boost in their hopes of moving to a new stadium in Rozzano
the venue that Inter have their hearts set on is owned by the Cabassia Group
and in recent days the group have obtained a license to build a sporting venue
According to the license they have obtained
the land now can be used for “cultural
This is a huge indication that the Inter hierarchy have no intention of staying at the San Siro despite local figures desperate for both Inter and AC Milan to stay at the iconic venue now that it has been saved from demolition
The license confirms that sporting arenas and stadiums can now be built on the land which is significant because Inter have a first-refusal right on it
This agreement is set to expire in April but should they need more time
with one of the biggest hurdles now out of the way
and with the project effectively green-lit
the time has now come for the Nerazzurri to either fully commit to the project by purchasing the land from the Cabassi Group or ditch them altogether and focus on renovating the San Siro
It's important to note that the new Inter Milan Stadium will not be on the current site of the San Siro
it had been anticipated that AC Milan and Internazionale would rebuild San Siro
But with authorities saying that San Siro has ‘cultural interest' and so cannot be demolished
the two clubs are considering building their stadiums
Inter and AC Milan had long been prepared for such a verdict and thus had been making alternative plans for some time
It's also significant that with the San Siro demolition cancelled, AC Milan and Inter will no longer be looking to share the stadium.
San Siro was originally the home of AC Milan
Inter – who had been playing their home fixtures at the Arena Civic – began sharing with their rivals
a marriage of convenience dictated by the lack of alternatives and the ease of sharing
which allows the clubs to share financial responsibilities towards the ground
with AC Milan and Inter acting as shared tenants
Details of WeBuild’s project to renovate San Siro:
— Inter Xtra (@Inter_Xtra) August 3, 2024
The newly proposed ‘WeBuild' project
has given the pair of rivals a decision to make
with the Italian construction company presenting plans regarding a potential renovation of the San Siro
Part of the plans put forward was to reduce the ground's capacity to around 30,000 while work is underway to ensure that any improvements can be made in both a safe and timely manner
the WeBuild project was designed to be completed in three separate phases
the first of which would start in the summer of 2025 if there were to be no delays
Developing aspects of the stadium's first tier
The second and third phases would then predominantly focus on improvements that would be exterior to the ground itself, including increased accessibility and the transformation of the venue into a multi-purpose entertainment facility, similar to that of Camp Nou
While these plans do demonstrate a way in which the San Siro could be successfully restored to greatness
certain aspects of the project have received backlash from fans
none more so than the proposed increase in the number of VIP seats while the capacity for regular seats would see a decrease
All in all the ‘WeBuild' project is still in its infancy
and we will have to wait and see whether Inter Milan are willing to accept the proposal in its current form
Inter announced in mid-December 2023 that the club is “strongly committed to the project of a new stadium on the outskirts of Milano
Rozzano is a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Milan
The proposed new ground for Inter Milan stadium is about an hour's drive from the current location where San Siro sits
The journey takes about 48 minutes if you are using a train from the centre of Milan
Future improvements on the current transport infrastructure will undoubtedly make the journey shorter
Initial pictures suggest there'll be unique rings of plants around at least one side of the stadium
which will be situated in the middle of greenery and next to one big office block
this latter structure will be for club employees
The new Inter Milan stadium will have a capacity of 70,000
This is smaller than the 80,018-seater San Siro
the ground is not always full for Inter or AC Milan matches
and the club suggest comfort will be hugely enhanced at the new ground
The club statement says: “Outside the stadium,' a sports ‘town' and welcome areas for fans and everyone attending the district will be created
“All of this will be accessible for 365 days a year and complement the surrounding park.”

Italian soccer giants Inter Milan have acquired the exclusive rights to conduct a feasibility study on land in Rozzano to see if the site is suitable for a new home stadium
Both Inter and AC Milan are considering building new stadiums away from the city centre
after being frustrated by local authorities in their plans to knock down the San Siro in order to build a new venue
Calcio e Finanza and lawyer Felice Raimondo have reported that AC Milan are eyeing the La Maura part of the city as a potential new home
having paid €3 million (US$3.29 million) to acquire 90 per cent of Sportlifecity
Inter will next look to carry out the study before weighing up if they want their new home to be in Rozzano
Both Milan clubs hops to be in their respective new stadiums by the end of the decade

Today’s liturgical readings can be found by clicking here
I’d like to share with you some thoughts and questions that stirred in me as I read this Sunday’s scriptures and asked “What’s in it for us LGBTQ people?”
Today’s first liturgical reading is a lament about a world that is messy
We could mistakenly think the passage was written by someone in the past few months
instead of by Job more than two millennia ago
and without denying its goodness and beauty
unhopeful world is where we LGBTQ folks find ourselves today
I would invite you to consider three possible lessons from today’s gospel
let’s look at those who came or were brought to Jesus for help
“They brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons…”
While we LGBTQ people know that our sexual and gender identity is not an illness
many of us have at times had to contend with a variety of “demons.” The dictionary defines “demon” as an evil or undesirable emotion
a demon of false stereotypes has led me to doubt the truth and goodness of my lesbian identity
How can we identify and deal constructively with the demons lurking in the shadows of our life
we simply have to admit the incompleteness of our human condition
and then seek the divine or human help we need to prevent our demons from getting the upper hand
let’s look at those who heard Jesus teach and witnessed his cures
“Everyone is looking for you,” the disciples tell Jesus
The crowds are “amazed” and “astonished,” and just before today’s gospel reading begins
I wonder if we are living at a moment in history when
we are being called to a deeper and clearer expression of our human reality and of the good news of the gospel
we LGBTQ folks may find ourselves happily “amazed and astonished” when we are presented with words and actions of Pope Francis or others in our church which take a more welcoming and inclusive view of us
no matter what our position on some of these issues
I think all in the church are called to some conversion here
Can we set aside preconceived notions and open our hearts and minds to thoughtful study
we must be the change we want to see happen
let’s look at Jesus himself and his actions in this gospel which describes his cure of Peter’s mother-in-law
Mark gives us a telling snapshot of Jesus doing the work his Abba missioned him to do
The mission is deceptively simple: to accept and to share the good news of God’s unconditional love for each one of us and for all creation
we see an instructive example of how Jesus carried out his mission
not put off by whatever may be wounded or broken or less than perfect
up to join the community of family and friends
Jesus spent the rest of the evening approaching
and helping other townspeople crowded at the door to see him
What a great gift we have in this brief account of Jesus’ mission and methods
Many of us know from our experience how Jesus has approached
and rejoice in who we are as members of the LGBTQ community
We can find one answer in today’s reading from First Corinthians
Paul reminds us that what we’ve been given in our own life and experience
we are meant to share freely in Christ-like service to others
so must we approach others on their own turf
In our work for justice for our LGBTQ community
are we willing to risk meeting others where they are
Perhaps the lesson for us here is Jesus’ own command: “Love one another as I have loved you.” Easier said than done
yes; but let’s join Paul in saying “All this I do for the sake of the gospel.”
I spent time thinking about these reflections in light of the events of the past few months here in the United States
The readings capture much of what we ‘ve experienced and are still living through today: a messy world; demons causing havoc among us; old values crumbling and new understandings rising out of their ashes; heroic acts of love
kindness and generosity in the midst of the pandemic
The final words of the poem that Amanda Gorman read at President Joe Biden’s inauguration spoke to my heart as a prayer not only for the country but also for our LGBTQ community as we meditate on this Sunday’s readings:
Very good reflection especially the application of demons
your vision and reasoning are always transformative

Janet Rozzano discovered she was a lesbian gradually
During the 1960s and '70s, she became emotionally close with several women, describing her feelings in journal entries filled with both fear and joy, as she wrote in an essay published in Love Tenderly: Sacred Stories of Lesbian and Queer Religious, a new anthology available Dec. 15 from New Ways Ministry
other women in her community supported her
she became an advocate for other LGBTQ Catholics
"I came to see my telling people — coming out to them — as a ministry in itself," Rozzano said
Her impact reached fellow Sisters of Mercy
who describes herself in the book as "unapologetically and enthusiastically queer."
"She's hugely beloved in my community," Dobrovolny said of Rozzano in an interview with GSR
"That cushioned my coming-out significantly
It's a heck of a lot easier to come out when there are other folks who are very well loved
along with nearly two dozen other lesbian and queer religious
share personal essays about their vocations and their journeys of self-acceptance — stories of joy and pain
Amid the struggles of confronting homophobia and shame
many of the writers express the spiritual freedom they have found in discovering their identities and coming out to others
Some describe this freedom as "integration": the ability to bring their authentic selves to every aspect of their lives
Cover art for "Love Tenderly" (New Ways Ministry)
"I want to be somebody who is fully myself, not partly myself," said Sr. Mary Kay Hunyady of the Religious of the Sacred Heart
"It's a whole lot of work hiding out from yourself," said another sister
(Some authors used pen names to protect their privacy.)
described in her essay an intense prayer encounter where she saw herself standing by the ocean with Jesus
she saw Jesus come to her and lay his head in her lap
"This prayer experience ended with a profound and fundamental healing at the core of myself
truest part of my being that God loves me," Sister Emma wrote
Sr. Grace Surdovel of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary edited the book with assistance from Immaculate Heart of Mary Sr
who helped plan the anthology and recruit sisters to contribute essays
Surdovel wrote in the acknowledgements that the book is the culmination of 25 years of dreams and plans by a group of lesbian and queer religious
She said she hopes the book opens the door to new conversations about sexuality within religious congregations and in the larger church
"This book [is] going to facilitate conversations that will impact women
"I think it's going to be very much like the pebble in the pond."
wrote reflection questions to help sisters contemplate their personal experiences as LGBTQ religious
Surdovel wrote in the book's acknowledgements that Fasolka reached out to sisters who were part of a group email list she had run since 1995
Some of the sisters are survivors of sexual assault
many have experienced painful rejection because of their sexuality
and some struggled with depression and suicidal ideation because they were told being gay was a sin
we see our bruised selves — the places where we were bruised
have been bruised — and come out of that to a place of more integration," Hunyady said
The book wrestles with the nuances of consecrated celibacy and healthy sexuality
taboo topics among many women religious communities
It also doesn't shy away from the sacrifices some sisters made to enter religious life
Several contributors wrote about leaving behind partners they loved to follow their vocations
But many of the sisters describe their joy upon discovering their vocations
the meaning and purpose they found in their work as religious
and their sense of community and companionship with women in their communities
"I love being a sister," Sister Susan said
"I love the energy that I get from [having found myself] and the energy that community has to offer
And the good news is I don't have to choose either one or the other
Loretto Sr
She said she hopes it helps bring lesbian and queer women religious into the conversation around LGBTQ people in the Catholic Church
stories about lesbian sisters," Gramick said
Contributors who spoke to GSR said the process of writing the book had been healing for many of them
she'd felt that her voice was silent or "a solo act."
"To hear my voice in communion with [and] to be one among others in this community is something that has been hugely helpful to me in my own journey," she said
The writers said they hoped the book would help other lesbian and queer religious — and LGBTQ people more generally — become more comfortable in their identities
It's important for people who have been harmed by the Catholic Church to know there's a distinction between the institution and God
"God creates us as we are and loves us," she said
said she contributed because she "wanted to be a reader."
"I really have appreciated the interaction
"Just to see what I've struggled with — have others struggled with that?"
The writers also said they want to help heterosexual women religious as well as clergy and laypeople learn how to better support LGBTQ people in their lives
my hope is that your heart will be touched in ways that take you deeper into your own story of loving tenderly," Surdovel wrote in the book's acknowledgements

Inter Milan Corporate CEO On New San Siro Project: “Ideas Not Enough
Enthusiastic About Rozzano Stadium” | OneFootballSempreInter.Com
Inter Milan corporate CEO Alessandro Antonello downplays the new San Siro project while revealing his enthusiasm about the stadium project in Rozzano
The Nerazzurri
were looking to demolish the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium and build a modern venue in its stead
But in recent months, Milano’s Superintendent placed an impediment on the San Siro Stadium due to its historic and cultural importance. This proved to be a deadly blow for the two clubs’ project
Therefore, the Nerazzurri are now planning to build their own stadium in the Rozzano region while the Rossoneri will do likewise in San Donato
the mayor of Milano Giuseppe Sala is trying to convince the two clubs to renovate the San Siro
Antonello explains that mere ideas are not enough for the club to consider this proposal
“There has been no renunciation of the open procedure at San Siro. In the last four years, we made ourselves available to satisfy the needs of the Municipality,” said the Inter CEO in an interview with Sky Sport via FcInterNews
We have been waiting for answers for four years
“We need formal documents that can give us guarantees
“The renovation of San Siro was never in our plans The fact that the Superintendent anticipated this possibility by establishing a restriction on the second ring radically changes the initial project idea
Milan announced that they wanted to leave San Siro
so we declared that we’re ready to build our own stadium in Rozzano
“It means a new challenge towards the future
We are building the new home and we will ask the fans what it should be like.”
Antonello says he expects the new stadium to host a similar capacity to San Siro
He hope it would be ready for the 2028/29 campaign
we believe that a well-built stadium can have this capacity
“The reference model in Europe remains that of Tottenham
“We are relying on Populous for the design
They have worldwide experience in sustainable venues
Then it would be ready for the 2028/29 campaign.”

A Catholic nun was included on a list of “19 incredible lesbians who are loud, proud and making the world a better place,” published by Yahoo News in honor of Lesbian Visibility Week
The list highlighted Sr. Janet Rozzano, a Sister of Mercy, for publicly celebrating her lesbian identity. Rozzano was a contributor to Love Tenderly: Sacred Stories of Lesbian and Queer Religious
an anthology published by New Ways Ministry
In an Openly essay which was based on her contribution to the anthology
“It wasn’t until I was in my 40s and 25 years in a religious community of sisters that I began to deal with and integrate my sexual identity
During those years I struggled with a church and society largely silent about and often unwelcoming of LGBT+ people
I struggled to overcome my own fears – of disapproval
internalised homophobia – if I told others I was lesbian
“The joys and blessings that have been a part of my story
are much more important than the areas of struggle
In this whole process of coming to understand and accept myself as a lesbian sister
I believe I have been powerfully touched by grace.”
Rozzano has experienced God in solidarity with other queer people
“Having experienced the pain of the Church’s or society’s rejection of LGBT+ people
I feel continually called to be true to myself in the midst of this oppression
My faith has been strengthened by so many of the liturgies I have attended with gay and lesbian people
I hear the liberating message of the Gospel in powerful and living ways that I don’t always hear in other settings.”
The sister wrote that she has been supported by many of her fellow Sisters of Mercy:
“With each new step on this journey over the years
I have felt strengthened and encouraged by the affirmation and support of so many of my sisters
Their response is a source of great pride for me
The Spirit has led me in ways that sometimes feel so unorthodox
and that demand risks and a courage I never dreamed I possessed
“Yet I have a strong sense that what I am doing is in the best tradition of my community
She always urged the community to reach out and embrace those most in need with compassion and practical help
to open the door to the marginalised and outsiders
and to follow Jesus’s example of abundant love for all people.”
Since media narratives rarely emphasize how many queer people are religious
it is great to see women with public faith identities highlighted in the list of notable lesbians
The next generation of queer Catholics could learn a lot from elders like Rozzano

Corrections & clarifications: An earlier version of this report misstated the duration of Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin’s partnership.
At the end of a remarkable show business life
Jerry Lewis might be best remembered for “Jerry’s Kids,” the children affected by muscular dystrophy
director and actor became synonymous with throwing his worldwide fame into a career-long battle against the degenerative disease
most notably through The Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon
The prominent and seemingly unstoppable force
who ended each telethon singing You’ll Never Walk Alone
was silenced for good when Lewis died Sundaytk" src=http://nglbwb.eng.gci:7001/newsgate/images/SmallNote.png> morning at age 91
his close friend Nancy Kane and his manager Mark Rozzano confirmed to USA TODAY
Rozzano said Lewis died at home of natural causes
"The world has lost one of the most significant human beings of the 20th century," Rozzano manager told USA TODAY
The comedian's death was first reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal
Lewis fell ill during a June 2011 appearance in Sydney
moments before he was expected onstage to raise money for muscular dystrophy.
He overcame that health setback and set his sights on appearing in what was to be his final performance at the 21-hour Labor Day telethon
Rodney Howell thanked Lewis for “more than a half-century of generous service” and pulled the plug on the star’s final show for reasons never fully explained
Lewis would fall into his legendary grouchiness whenever he declined to talk about the departure — and never disclosed why he had dedicated himself to the cause for so many decades
But he remained supremely proud of his efforts to raise an estimated $2.6 billion for the disease
“I don’t know anyone in the world who has ever done anything that represented $2 billion dollars,” Lewis told USA TODAY in 2016
It would take someone of Lewis’ energy and massive worldwide fame to make it happen
Lewis started performing at age 5 with his vaudeville entertainer father and piano-playing mother
He later changed his professional name to Joey Lewis and then to Jerry to avoid confusion with reigning heavyweight boxing champion Joe Louis
He gained international acclaim for his 1960 directorial debut
he hit box office and critical gold again with The Nutty Professor
The Nutty Professor was his most famous screen role: A cross-eyed
buck-toothed academic nerd transforms into the smooth-talking Buddy Love thanks to the magic of science
The film would spawn two remakes starring Eddie Murphy and later be selected for preservation in the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry
“A lot of people resent that I’ve been in someone’s life for 50 years,” Lewis told USA TODAY in 2002
“Why shouldn’t people have an affection for me and what I’ve done
Didn’t I have to be genuine for them to buy into what I did
There are children who grow up today who will not have that when they’re 55 years old
but his life and career largely were defined by one very public relationship and split: his partnership with Dean Martin
the two quickly became the most sought-after duo in show business
with Lewis bringing the zany laughter and singer Martin playing the straight man
Lewis and Martin shared the screen in 17 films
the relationship between the two became strained as Lewis received the lion’s share of the credit for their success
As the two entertainers increasingly clashed — a situation made worse when Look magazine cropped Martin out of a cover photo — it became clear that the gig was up
the two men took the stage together for one last time and didn’t speak again for years
“We didn’t know where we were going
but we were at that place where men get to where they have no recourse,” Lewis told the Associated Press in 2005 while promoting his memoir Dean & Me (A Love Story)
“I hated him for allowing the split to happen
He hated me for allowing the split to happen.”
Lewis spoke about the love and respect the two shared before Martin’s death in 1995
They famously reunited on national television in 1976 during the MDA Telethon
thanks to the efforts of mutual friend Frank Sinatra
Lewis showed a distinctly moody side in his widely praised role as late-night talk show host Jerry Langford
kidnapped by Robert De Niro’s aspiring comic in Martin Scorcese's 1982 drama The King of Comedy
who would be his partner and caregiver to the end and who helped him through open heart surgery in 1983 and prostate cancer in the early ’90s
Lewis continued to work sporadically in the final decades of his life
starring in a lucrative 1995 Broadway revival of Damn Yankees and appearing at age 90 in the critically panned Max Rose in 2016
But he largely focused on his charity work through comedy shows and the iconic
Even after the must-see Labor Day telethon fell victim to falling ratings and
he was asked at a media event what he still needed to accomplish in his life
“Get the cure for muscular dystrophy,” Lewis said simply

Rozzano and Sesto San Giovanni have the most difficult situation
the Tari tariff is double (31,2 against 15,6) of the benchmark for commercial activities classified as highly taxed for the production of waste (bars

Rozzano is a "black jersey" for the waste tax with increased rates in all areas of non-domestic users: over double (32,7 against 15,6 of the benchmark) in highly taxed businesses and in medium / large retail areas (14,4 versus 7)
Criticalities in Bresso for high taxation activities (23,9 against 15,6) and in Paullo (15,2 against 7) and Pieve Emanuele (19,2 against 7) where the Tari rate for medium and large companies is more than double sales areas
