On the sidelines of the ceremony at the Damiano Chiesa school on Via Antonini, Giuseppe Sala
spoke as follows about the issue of the new San Siro that Milan and Inter want to build:
‘If the sale of San Siro does not go ahead, San Donato is still there, ready,’ reports Il Giorno
Milan announced that it will find a solution for San Donato
The project is probably to bring the youth sector center there."
"Milan has also invested a significant sum
The goal for the sale of the land and the stadium is still to finalize it by summer.’

Mazzara: Inspired by Real Madrid – what will happen to Milan’s San Donato land | OneFootballSempreMilan
With AC Milan turning back to the San Siro idea
the land at San Donato now looks to be a waste
In the past year, Milan have ummed and arred about the stadium possibilities, and even when a move to San Siro looked almost guaranteed, the club still requested a San Donato clause to be inserted into the move
Now though, it seems like those plans are dead in the water, with a San Siro purchase being the preferred option
“What will become of the investment in the San Donato land made by Milan once the process for the new San Siro (perhaps) gets underway
The question is legitimate given the millions of euros invested
but that area will not be the subject of new housing construction
but will be used for the construction of Milan’s new sports centre for its youth sector
“The current contract for the ‘Vismara’ will expire on 29 June 2027
work on the new facility could have already begun
could also host the first team for a few months

“Yes, momentarily, because in the club’s plans, there is a deep renovation of the facilities of the Milanello sports centre. In November, during the pre-Real Madrid-Milan visit to Valdebebas of the Rossoneri management (at which Gerry Cardinale was also present), the Milan board made numerous ‘notes’ on how the Ciudad Deportiva of the merengues was built
precisely with a view to a renewal of a historic environment
but one that perhaps needs to be updated to modern times.”
Whether it will still be seen as a waste remains to be seen

That is the headline published this morning by the Italian newspaper Tuttosport
which explains that the soap opera surrounding the new stadium that Milan and Inter would like to build together next to San Siro continues
the two clubs submitted a document to the City Council to purchase the Meazza and the surrounding areas
Milan had also pursued for a long time the project of building the stadium on its own and had even purchased land in San Donato Milanese
If in the end the new San Siro does indeed go through despite the countless difficulties and obstacles
the area in the municipality south of Milan could be used to build a brand-new
ultra-modern sports center dedicated to the Rossoneri youth sector
One of the hottest topics within AC Milan in recent weeks has undoubtedly been the new stadium
with the dual option of San Siro or San Donato Milanese
the Rossoneri club made the first formal move some time ago to build the new facility in the San Francesco area within the Milanese municipality
and there seems to be a possible reconsideration
As per La Gazzetta dello Sport in this morning's print edition
there is an important update on the matter: the Italian Revenue Agency has conducted an assessment on San Siro and has presented Milan and Inter with a demand of 200 million euros
while the amount is something Inter might consider negotiable
it has been made clear that there is no room for negotiation
we’ll have to see how the two clubs will proceed
Sala condemns Milan keeping San Donato option: “Not good for the fans” | OneFootballSempreMilan
Beppe Sala has once again spoken again AC Milan’s potential San Donato project, even though the Rossoneri are likely to extend their San Siro stay
Talk about a stadium has followed the same pattern for years, though in the past few months, this has been the case especially. Milan have played with the idea of staying at San Siro or moving to San Donato, but now seem to have decided on remaining put
“If the sale of San Siro does not go ahead, San Donato is still there ready. In recent days, Milan have announced that they will find a solution for San Donato
Probably the project is to bring the youth centre there
“Milan have also put up a significant amount of money, so this must be taken into account. I don’t think it’s good for Milan, for Milan
The objective for the sale of the area and stadium is still to close by the summer.”
The next few months should offer an ending to the discussions, considering a purchase has a deadline of the summer

Paolo Scaroni attends during the Serie A match between AC Milan and AS Roma - Serie A TIM at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on January 14
This morning, at the Municipality of San Donato Milanese, a meeting was held between Mayor Francesco Squeri and Paolo Scaroni, the AC Milan president
who accepted the Mayor’s recent invitation to discuss the club’s intentions regarding the stadium project in the San Francesco area
The meeting provided an opportunity to review the status of the Program Agreement
which is proceeding according to the planned schedule
the process for the Strategic Environmental Assessment is underway
President Scaroni expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and reaffirmed the club’s commitment to advancing the procedural steps for a project that is a priority for AC Milan
"I thank President Scaroni,” said Mayor Squeri
"for accepting the invitation to discuss Milan's intentions in person
I leave this meeting with further confirmation of the seriousness and concreteness of the project the club is pursuing for the San Francesco area
While we recognise that there is still a possibility regarding Milan
the approval from our Administration remains contingent on the successful outcome of the Program Agreement
which must ensure a series of answers and protections for our citizens and our territory so that the stadium in San Donato can truly represent an opportunity.”
ITALY - JULY 16: (This photograph was taken using a drone) An aerial view of the land where AC Milan's new stadium could be built
AC Milan wants to build a new 70,000-seat stadium in San Donato Milanese in the San Francesco area on July 16
For the AC Milan club management, regarding the the stadium situation, despite the confusion after the recent meeting with Mayor Sala
which brought back a project that's almost impossible to implement
Milan is moving forward strongly with San Donato and will build the stadium there
The rest is just noise. Milan and Inter will never be granted permission to build a stadium next to the current San Siro, which, by the way, can neither be renovated nor demolished (so fans can still enjoy it and they can also do a stadium tour of several iconic venues)
More time will be wasted analyzing projects and data
but the reality is that Milan is proceeding with San Donato
where they've already spent 50 million euros and have the program agreement in place
Will the new stadium be shared with the Nerazzurri
The two clubs have been discussing this for over a month
and it could be a solution to halve the costs

(Photo by Nicolò Campo/LightRocket via Getty Images)
AC Milan are still considering the options for the stadium project: San Siro or San Donato
One leads to the construction of the stadium next to the Meazza, alongside Inter
while the other project proposes the building of the stadium on its own in the San Francesco area
the club president Paolo Scaroni met with the mayor Francesco Squeri
who had recently requested to meet with the club's executives
San Donato Milanese remains the main route
even now that the possibility of a shared stadium at San Siro has reopened
Scaroni reiterated this to the mayor of the Milanese suburb yesterday
because the club has already invested 55 million euros in the San Donato stadium project
for which the Program Agreement has already been initiated
the Rossoneri club managers haven't forgotten what happened with the first attempt (2019) to build the new stadium next to San Siro
Milan requires clarity and very specific guarantees
To the left-wing minority of the Municipality of San Donato
the reassurances about Milan's new stadium from Mayor Squeri and Paolo Scaroni following the latest meeting were not enough
there will be two items on the agenda regarding the new Rossoneri facility: one for a consultative survey directed at citizens and another for the suspension of the Program Agreement

San Siro stadium is a pilgrimage for football fans. Perhaps world football's most iconic stadium – only Wembley Stadium and the Maracana are on par – this historic ground hosts Italian giants and city rivals AC Milan and Inter Milan
Football Ground Guide is here to give you all the latest on plans to demolish San Siro
AC Milan and Inter's plans to move elsewhere and everything you need to know about this glorious amphitheatre's future
With AC Milan and Inter Milan now set to stay at the San Siro
the new plan is to effectively completely rebuild the stadium in its current location
a controversial demolition is back on the cards for the famous old stadium
While a complete demolition will be impossible
due to the Regional Commission for the Cultural Heritage of Lombardy declaring that it is a site of ‘cultural interest'
there is a workaround where the vast majority of the stadium is demolished
The part of the stadium that must stay intact is the second ring of the stadium
so the two clubs would need to figure out a way to move that part of the stadium across to the new one before demolishing the rest of the stadium
with the estimate at around €80 million
and that's before work even begins on building the structure for the new stadium
An official announcement is expected in due course
with Inter and AC currently locked in discussion with the city's planners
Two huge Milan derbies are set to take place in the coming weeks as AC and Inter Milan do battle in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia
It's clashes like these at the famous old stadium which make you wonder why both clubs are reportedly looking for a way out of the San Siro but perhaps the electric atmosphere that will no doubt be constant across both legs could sway certain figureheads at both clubs
rumours continue to swirl that both clubs are preparing a joint bid to buy the stadium from Mian City Council
then they would have complete autonomy on a renovation project which could persuade both clubs to stay
Milan Mayor Beppe Sala has declared that 2025 will be a pivotal year for both football clubs as they aim to begin construction on a new stadium
he mentioned that initial steps could be taken as early as February or March
The mayor emphasized that if issues are not resolved by the summer of 2025
particularly concerning the demolition of San Siro
much of the necessary work will take place after he leaves office
Despite the mayor's efforts to encourage both clubs to stay at San Siro
they have firmly insisted on moving to a new venue
Italian news sources reported a new development: both clubs are preparing a 200-page proposal to acquire San Siro and the surrounding areas
Their plan includes the construction of a new stadium with a seating capacity of 70,000
along with an environmental assessment report
Oaktree and RedBird Capital are eager to finalize the purchase proposal as soon as possible
AC Milan has already invested €40 million in the proposed new site in San Donato and is considering relocating the PUMA House of Football to this new location
While the future of San Siro remains an emotive issue for the residents of the district
Milan Mayor Sala was recently booed during a discussion about the stadium
Calcio e Finanza reports that the mayor was booed while delivering a speech in which he said emotional considerations are overriding rational discussions
Sala emphasized the need to retain San Siro
saying that it has become a politically significant establishment in Milan
Earlier in September Mayor Sala reported that both Inter and AC Milan had rejected a renovation proposal from a construction company
it became clear that both clubs were determined to leave the iconic stadium
There were strong indications that the two clubs that have shared San Siro for many years are likely to go their separate ways
the current owners of both clubs have recently opened more channels of communication
they could either settle for a stadium project in San Donato or build one adjacent to San Siro
Should they go ahead with the collaborative effort to share a new stadium
the financial burden of constructing a new venue would greatly be reduced for each team
Both clubs had acquired land elsewhere with AC Milan looking to build a new ground in San Donato Milanese
Inter Milan were exploring thier options in the south of the city
especially in the towns of Assago and Ruzzano
were not on good terms with AC Milan owners
complicated the process of moving out of San Siro
the frosty relationship between the two clubs seems to have ended
paving the way for current and future collaborations
both Inter Milan and AC Milan reaffirmed their desire to move from the stadium in October 2024 when they met with with Italy's culture and sport minister to discuss potentially building a new stadium in the San Siro district without tearing the original down
With the destruction of the stadium no longer a viable option
both Milan clubs have floated the idea of building a new shared stadium nearby while still maintaining the original San Siro for other sporting events
everyone in the meeting was left satisfied by the plans and a period of form-filling and plan-submitting will now take place to ensure that it gets green-lit by the powers that be in Milan
has been keen for the two clubs to renovate the existing stadium
both clubs have now firmly rejected these proposals
This new suggestion could be the only way to ensure both clubs remain in the San Siro district which could perhaps be a compromise for all parties
It was announced on 24 September 2024 that the San Siro was stripped of hosting the 2027 Champions League final
The last time the Champions League final was played at the famous stadium was back in 2016
when Real Madrid beat Atletico Madrid on penalties
Mark Ogden, who is the senior writer at ESPN, provided the following update: “But despite confirming Milan as the 2027 venue
UEFA did so on the proviso that the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) submitted information in the plans for the multi-million-pound refurbishment of the San Siro
“Those plans remain uncertain with both Milan and Inter considering moving out of the San Siro
officially named the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza
due to an ongoing battle to secure funding for the renovation of the existing stadium

The host venues for the 2025 and 2026 Champions League finals have already been decided
with Munich's Allianz Arena winning the bidding rights for 2025 and Budapest's Puskas Arena for 2026
A new bidding process will now open for 2027
with a final decision expected in May or June next year
UEFA said: “As the Municipality of Milano could not guarantee that the San Siro stadium and its surroundings would not be affected by refurbishment works in the period of the 2027 UEFA Champions League final
it was decided not to assign the final to Milan and to re-open the bidding process to appoint a suitable venue
with a decision expected in May/June 2025.”
The latest news about the future of San Siro in Italy suggests that the Milan Mayor still hasn't given up on convincing both Inter and AC Milan to stay at the stadium rather than move elsewhere
has pencilled in meetings with executives of both clubs for September
where a resolution will be found one way or the other
Sala will discuss the recent study by WeBuild (more information below) with both clubs and try to convince them to see a renovation plan through
both clubs remain committed to building new stadiums away from San Siro
and the city of Milan were presented with the findings of a study conducted by WeBuild on potential plans for the renovation of the San Siro
One of the conclusions from the study is that reducing the capacity to around 30,000 seats is the most feasible option
Inter will assess the documents concerning how a revamped San Siro could look and will compare them to their plans for a new ground in Rozanno
Calciomercato reported at the time that Inter want to know about the findings of the study as soon as possible so that they can make a decision between Plan A and B before the end of the year
on the WeBuild meeting that took place earlier today:
“This afternoon, WeBuild presented a feasibility study for a deep restructuring of the San Siro Stadium to #Inter

The San Siro is set to host the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics and was originally penciled in by UEFA to host the 2027 Champions League final
redevelopment work is needed soon to ensure the stadium meets modern requirements
WeBuild General Director Massimo Ferarri told Gazzetta dello Sport
we are not working on the final project but on the preliminary one
we can start work in the summer of 2025. The first phase could be completed by the end of 2025
The fundamental theme of any renovations to the San Siro would be a complete modernisation of the ground
a concept present throughout the WeBuild presentation
Developments to the entire first tier of the stadium
were at the forefront of the plans presented as the Italian construction company demonstrated how they would vastly improve the matchday experience for supporters
While the second and third tiers would also see renovations
the work would be far more straightforward
the rest of the important renovations would be made outside the ground altogether
improving accessibility to the stadium through developments to structures such as the car park was also an integral part of the WeBuild presentation
Transforming the San Siro into a multi-use entertainment facility
a direction many modern stadiums appear to be moving in
by implementing attractions such as museums and restaurants
while the above sounds very appealing and would likely see WeBuild successfully turn the San Siro into a ground in line with the modern era
some aspects will undoubtedly anger supporters
there were suggestions that renovations would drastically increase the number of hospitality seats offered
further excluding average match-going fans from the matchday experience
this wonderful piece of footballing architecture looked likely to be torn down
An intervention from the Regional Commission for the Cultural Heritage of Lombardy has saved San Siro
They rightly note that its distinctive appearance gives it cultural significance
proposed plans for a San Siro redevelopment in a bid to convince Inter Milan and AC Milan to stay put
The redevelopment plans would allow both clubs to continue playing at San Siro while the work took place and would bring the stadium into the 21st century after decades of neglect
Both clubs rejected the proposal then and continued to move forward with their plans to move outside of Milan with new stadiums
The two clubs want a new stadium and are a long way down the line towards this aim
The famous architecture studio Populous – also currently working with Manchester United on refurbishment plans for Old Trafford – have designed a new ground for the Milan clubs called ‘the Cathedral'
Populous' designs were apparently inspired by two of Milan's most famous buildings: the incredible Duomo di Milan cathedral and the adjacent Galleria Vittorio Emanuele shopping centre
The plans involve a 60,000-seat arena in a rectangular shape
claimed The Cathedral would become one of the world football's “most iconic stadiums” by being a “world-class
modern, and truly bespoke home for the legendary clubs of AC Milan and FC Internazionale Milano.”
Original planning involved building The Cathedral alongside San Siro
The whole area would become a pedestrian-only district emphasising green space
and after nearly a century of ground-sharing
the close relationship between the city rivals might change

The opposition to demolishing Stadio Giuseppe Meazza does not end AC Milan's goal to leave their historic ground
There are suggestions that Milan will build a new stadium in San Donato Milanese
and its potential to earn revenue from its clubs is very limited
but not with AC Milan. Architects Journal reports Inter has links with the Populous company and will continue working with them despite plans for The Cathedral being shelved for now
Inter will likely base their new stadium plans in the Rozzano area
San Siro was originally the home of AC Milan
Inter – who had been playing their home fixtures at the Arena Civic – began sharing with their rivals
a marriage of convenience dictated by the lack of alternatives and the ease of sharing
which allows the clubs to share financial responsibilities towards the ground
with AC Milan and Inter acting as shared tenants
Authorities state that the San Siro has a ‘cultural interest' and cannot be demolished
Inter and AC Milan have long been prepared for such a verdict and thus have been making alternative plans for some time
“The Regional Commission for the Cultural Heritage of Lombardy expressed a positive opinion on the existence of cultural heritage of the second tier at the San Siro stadium
in view of future verification under article 12 of Legislative Decree 42/2004
the committee endorses the proposal of the superintendence
“It should also be noted that the Archival and Bibliographic Superintendence for Lombardy
recalled the value of the west grandstand of the stadium as an ‘exposed archive' for the plaques/epigraphs documenting the national and international successes of Inter and Milan.”
Football fans have long loved Stadio Giuseppe Meazza
Many regard it as a sort of football pilgrimage to visit this remarkable
breathtaking arena in the fabric of which is so much sporting history

fans will be left bitterly disappointed by a decision that is out of their hands
it will be them same fans who ultimately have to pay for a new stadium with raised ticket and merchandise prices
AC Milan have won seven European titles
They are undoubtedly the bigger club on a global stage
However, Inter Milan have won 37 trophies in Italy, and AC Milan have won six fewer. It speaks volumes that in Italy, the ‘Derbi d'Italia' (The Derby of Italy) is played between Juventus – the country's most well-supported club—and Inter rather than AC Milan
Inter also appeared in a major European final, most recently being defeated by Manchester City in the 2023 UEFA Champions League final

After months of uncertainty, San Siro has been saved from demolition by a government intervention
According to a local heritage commission in Milan
Both tenants of San Siro are seriously considering constructing new stadiums soon
AC Milan and Inter Milan discussed the possibility of building a new stadium in the San Siro neighbourhood
and others discussed a plan for a new San Siro on the site of the existing facility
It would cost the two Serie A giants around €200 million to purchase the land where the current stadium site is located
The mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala told TMW on 4 November: “Let's leave aside for a moment the evaluation of the Revenue Agency that was made
Now the ball is in the teams' court to stay in football terms
If the teams send an expression of interest everything at this point can be speeded up and clarified
I believe that the decision is being made in these days.”
AC Milan President Paolo Scaroni says: “We are very clear that the San Donato project is continuing and currently the option that we prefer.” This came after the news that the two Milan clubs had rejected the ‘WeBuild’ project presented in June 2024
which would reduce the overall capacity and cost over €300 million
AC Milan announced that they had taken the first steps to building a new stadium in the San Donato Milanese
which is located 10km south-east of the city centre
the club have pushed forward with plans to build the new facility and are understood to be further ahead than Inter Milan and their plans to build a new stadium in Rozzano
The new AC Milan Stadium will not be on the current site of the San Siro
It has been speculated for many years that Milan and Inter would rebuild the famous Italian stadium
but the local authorities have said that the San Siro has ‘cultural interest' and cannot be demolished
This has prompted both clubs to consider building new stadiums on alternative sites
Inter and AC Milan had long been prepared for a verdict like this from the authorities and as a result had been making alternative plans for some time
The cultural heritage commission of Lombardy has FORBIDDEN the demolition of the stadium because of its historical value for the city of Milan

With the San Siro demolition cancelled
AC Milan and Inter will no longer be looking to share the stadium – something that has been the case since 1947
It now looks like the two clubs are set to split
AC Milan announced in September 2023 that they were planning to build a new stadium in the “San Francesco” area of San Donato Milanese
Significant progress has been made since on the new facility that is planned to be located between the A1 motorway and the railway line
which is next to the train station and 1.5 kilometers away from the metro station
What will the new AC Milan stadium look like
When AC Milan first released images of what the new stadium might look like
they depicted a big bowl stadium surrounded by the motorway on all four sides
It is also located in the middle of greenery
with AC Milan intent to build “the most sustainable stadium in Italy and one of the most sustainable in Europe”
Milan released the following statement: “The project hypothesis for the new stadium – the concept of which can be presented at a later stage of the planning process and is therefore not the object of the document presented today – is to construct an innovative
which can accommodate around 70,000 spectators.”

Paolo Scaroni, president of Milan, spoke to the club's official channel before the Rossoneri's game against Venezia. He provided an update on the new stadium issue following the recent meeting with Milan's mayor, Giuseppe Sala
I didn't want to miss such an important match."
"The new thing is that we have 70,000 spectators
especially during these somewhat challenging times for us
there was a meeting with the mayor of Milan the other day and we discussed options for the city of Milan."
"We explained to him that a renovation is not possible

The idea of reviving the old San Siro project emerged
but it’s a path with challenges: nothing is decided or certain
but our number one priority remains San Donato
We are clear that San Donato is progressing
San Siro is almost 100 years oldMarco Luzzani / GETTY IMAGES EUROPE / Getty Images via AFPInter and AC Milan on Friday rejected the project to modernise and restructure the iconic San Siro stadium which they share
city mayor Giuseppe Sala announced."The two clubs said no to the restructuring of San Siro proposed by (construction group) WeBuild," Sala said after a meeting with officials of the two northern Italian clubs
"They provided detailed analyses of technical and economic feasibility and their conclusions are that this project cannot be carried out at a sustainable cost and that they do not wish to move in this direction."
be ready to relaunch the initial project of a new stadium in the immediate vicinity of San Siro
"We are not starting from scratch on this subject
but there is resistance from local residents," Sala pointed out
"They must present us with a project within a fairly short time frame
but building stadiums in Italy is never easy
To increase their commercial revenue both clubs
who have been crowned European champions 10 times between them
have announced that they wish to leave the San Siro
Officially known as the Giuseppe-Maezza stadium
the 80,000 capacity San Siro is a spectacular concrete structure built in 1926 but which no longer meets their needs
The two clubs also each have a stadium project in their pipeline
Earlier this year AC Milan bought land in the suburb of San Donato Milanese
as part of a plan to move away from the San Siro and outside the official boundaries of the city of Milan
Reigning Serie A champions Inter have their sights set on the towns of Rozzano and Assago
after having also sounded out the possibility of building on former industrial land in populous northern suburb Sesto San Giovanni
San Siro will host the opening ceremony of the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics
It should also be the scene of the 2027 Champions League final
which according to the Italian press could be called into question amid the ongoing uncertainty over the stadium's future
Inter Milan and AC Milan are set to launch another joint bid to build a new stadium together near the iconic San Siro
Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala and a delegation from both Inter and Milan met with Italy's culture and sport ministers to discuss the "idea of building a new stadium in the San Siro district and developing the surrounding area"
The city of Milan added that the concept provided for a new use to be found for the current stadium
the destruction of which was a key sticking point in the previous joint project that was abandoned by the clubs last year
Milan city added that after a meeting which left all parties "satisfied" the clubs will begin the lengthy bureaucratic procedure necessary to get the project completed
Tuesday's announcement is the latest episode in a long-running saga surrounding the San Siro
which was first opened in 1926 and has since been renovated several times
Inter and Milan have been longing for a more modern arena with which to increase revenues
and last month rejected a proposal to modernise and restructure the current stadium
Earlier this year AC Milan bought land in the suburb of San Donato Milanese
as part of a plan to move outside the official boundaries of Milan in the hope they would more easily gain building approval
Reigning Serie A champions Inter had their sights set on the towns of Rozzano and Assago
after sounding out the possibility of building on former industrial land in populous northern suburb Sesto San Giovanni
The uncertainty surrounding the future of the San Siro led to the 2027 Champions League final being moved away from the northern Italian city

AC Milan bought land in the suburb of San Donato Milanese
as part of a plan to move outside the official boundaries of the city of Milan in the hope they would more easily gain building approval
The Club today completed the first formal step - in view of the potential future submission of a full project plan - as it presented to the San Donato Milanese town council an Urban Development proposal for the "San Francesco" area.
The objective of the proposal is to generate significant value for the area
which would then benefit from a sustainable and integrated development
These include the creation of a new "Gate to Milan" to the South
an East-West connection from San Donato to the Chiaravalle Abbey and its parks
easier usability and services for the Parco Sud
and orderly access to the possible future site
The proposal also aims to create a single infrastructure hub in the Milan area (railway

while simultaneously regenerating a derelict urban site that is not easy to resolve
a key factor of the proposal is the promotion of sustainable mobility and public transport with improvement works on the existing infrastructure network

as well as implementing a water recycling system
It will also become a benchmark for accessibility
ensuring that fans with disabilities can watch matches safely from all sections of the ground
In order to guarantee supporters a comfortable and exciting experience
close proximity of the stands to the pitch
and a wide range of food & beverage concessions
as well as an Energy Centre for the production of sustainable power

AC Milan is heading towards the new stadium in San Donato. Gianluca Comazzi, regional assessor for the Territory, spoke to Il Giorno:
"AC Milan and the Municipality of San Donato have asked the Lombardy Region to start the program agreement on the new stadium in San Donato Milanese, by June the Regional Council will approve the program agreement. I hope that Milan and Inter, if they were to leave San Siro
find an agreement to build a single new stadium
It's not up to the Region or me to say if it's a concrete prospect
I only say that if the two clubs join forces
"The possibility of renovating the current stadium exists
but it seems to me that there is a lack of will from AC Milan and Inter to do so
the Sala Administration has been conditioned by divisions within the center-left on the clubs' project for a new facility at San Siro
What the mayor is pursuing now regarding the stadium's restyling seems more like a media attempt than a concrete one."
there's a risk that San Siro will become an unused open-air museum
I've heard about the prospect of using the structure only for concerts
You can have about twenty concerts at San Siro per year
because it's a stadium without a roof and filling it up is not easy for artists."
Full steam ahead for AC Milan's new stadium in San Donato: as reported this morning by Il Giornale
after acquiring the last piece of land to build the facility
the rossoneri club is ready to send out tomorrow morning the letter to initiate the program agreement with the Lombardy region
councilor for Public Works of San Donato Milanese
has spoken about AC Milan's stadium project in an interview with Affari Italiani:
"Will ongoing investigations into AC Milan's ownership block the stadium project in San Donato
We are continuing with the process we have set out to follow because we believe this project deserves to be evaluated
are carrying out the evaluation of the project
Then it will be up to AC Milan to analyze all the proposals on the table."

As per La Gazzetta Dello Sport in this morning's print edition, AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinal himself has taken action for Milan's stadium, as extensively reported yesterday when he met with Sala and then Fontana
The area around the San Siro racetrack is the front-runner
but Sesto and San Donato are also in the race
with decisions on the stadium to be made by April
Two key points of the dialogue remain: Milan's great attention to the La Maura area - even though it should be emphasised that the other options remain absolutely possible
In addition to the assurance that the club's decisions do not intend to go against anyone
but are made solely in the specific interest of the club itself
Sala and Cardinale compared their respective needs
and the most pressing one for the Rossoneri is urgency
That's why Cardinale has decided to move again in person
after last May's blitz in Sesto San Giovanni
the stadium issue must be resolved quickly
La Maura area has a particular situation in all of this
has signed a preliminary sale agreement with F3A Green and its president Federico Consolandi
a well-known Milanese real estate developer for projects such as the Washington Building and Bosconavigli by Stefano Boeri
Milan will have to speak with both companies - and is already doing so - to reach an agreement
The stadium would be built in the northern part of the area
taking advantage of the existing sports destination
will retain a permanent right to an area in the south for horse training
even if the definitive transfer to F3A Green planned by December 2024 is realized
who does not like to see Milan outside the city and could allocate an area currently inaccessible to the community
another strong point of the La Maura proposal
While Sesto and San Donato remain in the running
on this green area just a stone's throw from San Siro

Italian soccer giants AC Milan have announced plans to build a new 70,000-seater stadium and move away from the iconic San Siro
The San Siro has been AC Milan’s home since 1926 but the club’s attempts to modernise the ageing venue have been scuppered and other stadium proposals with rivals Inter Milan also failed to get off the ground
The recent decision from a local heritage commission that deemed the San Siro to have ‘cultural interest’
meaning it cannot be knocked down and replaced with a new ground
has forced both Milan and Inter to look elsewhere
we have embarked with conviction on a journey aimed at giving our club one of the best stadiums of the world
which is able to accompany us into a victorious and sustainable future,” said Paolo Scaroni
“This represents a preliminary step in the evolution of this process but
it is further proof of our ownership’s commitment to guaranteeing continuous growth for AC Milan both on and off the pitch.”
AC Milan will now await the response from the San Donato Milanese town council after completing the first formal step of the proposal for the new stadium. Inter, meanwhile, are also planning to build their own stadium, with a site in Assago reportedly being considered

ROME (AP) — A small, single-engine plane carrying six passengers and two crew crashed Sunday into a vacant two-story office building in a Milan suburb, and authorities said all eight people aboard died.
Investigators opened a probe into what caused the private plane to crash shortly after takeoff from Milan's Linate Airport en route to Olbia Airport on the Italian island of Sardinia. A thick column of dark smoke rose from the crash site and was visible for kilometers. Several parked cars nearby went up in flames.
Firefighters tweeted that no one else but those on board were hurt in the early afternoon crash near a subway station in San Donato Milanese, a small town near Milan.
Milan Prosecutor Tiziana Siciliano told reporters at the scene that the plane was proceeding on its flight until "a certain point, then an anomaly appeared on the radar screen and it plunged," striking the building's roof.
Control tower officials reported the anomaly, she said, but further details on that weren't immediately given.
The prosecutor said the plane didn't send out any alarm. It was too early to cite any possible cause for the crash, Siciliano said, adding that the flight recorder has been retrieved.
By early evening, only two of the eight dead had been identified, since they carried documents on them, Siciliano said. Those aboard were "all foreigners," she said, including the pilot, who was Romanian. The aircraft was registered in Romania, the prosecutor said.
Later, the Romanian Foreign Ministry said two Romanians with dual citizenship were among the dead.
Italian news reports said the pilot, 30, also had German citizenship. A second victim was a Romanian woman in her 60s who also held French citizenship, the reports said.
The reports said the aircraft had flown from Bucharest, Romania, to Milan on Sept. 30 with no apparent problem.
The Italian news agency ANSA quoted the national air safety agency ANSV as saying "the plane hit the building and started burning." It said the aircraft was a PC-12, a single-engine, executive-type plane.
Fire officials said earlier that the aircraft had crashed into the building's facade. But following further inspection, the prosecutor said it was apparent that the plane had struck the roof.
Firefighters extinguished the flames at the badly charred and gutted building, which reportedly was under renovation.

AC Milan may have found the right area on which to build its new stadium alone
It's the San Francesco area in San Donato Milanese
and the Rossoneri have taken the first formal step by signing an agreement concerning the transfer of urban permits with SportLifeCity
which ffectively officially iniciates the procedure that could lead to the construction of the new stadium
The words of Mayor Francesco Squeri confirm that this area is currently the most appealing for Milan:
is that Milan considers the San Francesco area very interesting
The initiation of the procedure does not imply certainty that the stadium will be built in San Donato at the moment
and the team still needs to present the project to us
We are moving forward with bureaucracy to determine its feasibility
Only with the project in hand can we involve all the relevant authorities: from the Metropolitan City
both Inter and AC Milan are finally back at the level they used to be
appear to be closing in on their 20th Serie A title and becoming the second Italian club after Juventus to earn their second star
they've won the Serie A recently and made a run to the Champions League semifinals last season
both sides are still struggling to find a solution for their home stadium
one of the most incredible and astonishing facilities around the world
might not be their home in the near future
It's quite difficult to follow the news and what is happening on a daily basis in this story
considering that there is a strong political aspect as of late
San Siro is one of those places to be if you're into soccer
The iconic stadium hosted games from the 1934 and 1990 World Cups
games at UEFA Euro 1980 and numerous iconic musical acts like The Rolling Stones
There are multiple reasons why both clubs want to leave San Siro
most of the stadiums are owned by the city and the clubs pay rent
This is happening for all the Italian clubs
the clubs that are renting the stadium can't make as much in revenue as the others that own their respective stadium and can't also invest as much as they want to renovate the infrastructure
San Siro was built back in 1926 and saw a few major renovations in 1937
but even if it's still one of the most iconic stadiums around the world
it can't compete with other ones in terms of revenue
Both Inter and AC Milan's first idea was to keep and renovate San Siro
but as the Nerazzurri CEO Alessandro Antonello pointed out
the second in 1956 and a third added in 1990 with the roof
but have very little connection between them
This means there are very limited spaces for businesses and restoration," he said recently
met with Inter CEO Alessandro Antonello and with AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni just this month to discuss another potential restructuring but there are still some issues that need to be solved
while clubs are still worried about the potential revenue losses for the seasons that will be affected by the works
they are already concretely working on their new projects
Since American owner Gerry Cardinale took over the club in the summer of 2022
AC Milan actively worked for a new stadium
The initial idea was to build a stadium with Inter in the same area of San Siro
but things didn't move as quickly as hoped by the two clubs
also due to the fact that Milan will host the 2026 Olympic games and San Siro will host the opening ceremony
AC Milan and Inter started to work on their own projects
and the Rossoneri already completed the acquisition of a package of land for the project in San Donato Milanese

The municipality of San Donato Milanese started a "long and complex path" towards delivering a new 70,000-seat stadium for the Italian giants
with the project clearing its first major bureaucratic hurdle
The municipal council approved an initial proposal presented by the club in September when it officially announced for the first time that it was pursuing a new stadium project
an auditorium and a parking lot for 3,500 vehicles
The club estimated that the cost of the new stadium would be around €451 million
with the overall project more than double this at €949 million
Inter are also working for a new facility in the south of Milan
The Nerazzurri have pinpointed the area of Rozzano
where the Olimpia Milano basketball team play and where most of the indoor concerts take place in the city
The infrastructure would host 70,000 spectators and have an oval shape
making it similar to the Tottenham Stadium or SoFi Stadium
A complete project will be created by April 2024
and it is also anticipated that the facility will be ready for the season 2028-29

Inter issued the latest statement on the matter
saying "FC Internazionale Milano is strongly committed to the project of our new stadium which could be built on the outskirts of Milan
managed by the international studio Populous
surrounded by greenery and equipped with refreshment areas
designed to provide the best comfort and an exciting and immersive experience for fans
which can contribute to the development of the city and which is easily connected to the center of Milan
integrating with existing infrastructure."
it looks like that the two different stadiums outside Milan are the most likely scenario right now
The chance to not see any more soccer played at San Siro is sadly increasing month after month
but if we learned one thing in this story is to not take everything as done because everything can change quickly
