An unforgettable experience also because the girls from Sasso Marconi, without being the favorites, have shown themselves to be a true, cohesive group. Girls capable of having fun, off the court, visiting an imperial city, and giving their all on the parquet. For the 'Sassulen' four victories in as many outings and, indeed, the success at an event that attracted, in addition to the girls from Sasso and the home team, also a German representative and two Canadians. The protagonists of the success are Jade Fabbri, the captain and then Giulia Di Falco, Sara Fabbri, Margherita Villani, Giulia Carrozza, Carolina Selleri, Emma Carboni, Francesca Masotti, and with the special help of Diva Giorgini, Noemi Biondi and Noa Campalastri. A home-made team, with the contribution of some local realities. Brave on the field, but also elegant thanks to the new tracksuits and top sponsored by Joana Bodea of Caffè del Sole and Cristian D'Andria and Camilla Bertocchi of the Sasso Marconi driving school. Having said that the person responsible for the trip was the manager Adriano Rinaldi, the under 19 Csi Sasso Marconi ended up finding the surprise in the egg, or rather, the most beautiful surprises. Not only a success that had not been foreseen, but also an adventure so full of satisfaction and a little fear for an injury that in the end only caused a lot of fear. near the city of Bologna and with these words it acknowledged the milestone of 100 years of continuous BBC broadcasting: “For the importance of the BBC radio and television network which is celebrating its 100th anniversary and in which Marconi played an important role The first British Broadcasting Corporation's radio programme was broadcast from Marconi's London studio on November 14 BBC would become one of the most important broadcast public companies and evolving into one of the world's largest and most important radio and television networks.”  It is both an historic and highly significant award as it reminds us of the intertwining story of Marconi and the BBC at the dawn of radio Marconi had begun his experiments with radio in his native Italy at the end of the 19th century Passionate and obsessive about his new discovery so left for England in 1896 to pursue the venture there He had the luck to be Anglo-Italian so was fluent in both languages and also had some advantageous social connections through which he managed to interest the British Post Office in his experiments with wireless telegraphy Shortly afterwards he set up the Marconi Wireless Telegraph Company in 1900 and by 1914 it had progressed to the transmission of speech By the early 1920s there were Marconi stations at Writtle near Chelmsford and in London (with its famous code name 2LO) When the British Broadcasting Company was created on 18 October 1922 the Marconi Company would be one of its six major founding members When the first broadcast was made a month later it would be from the Marconi HQ in central London beginning with the immortal words: 2LO calling… with one radio ‘first’ following another: first news bulletin and daily lives and public discourse were changed forever Marconi’s key role in the BBC’s history was never forgotten the flags on Broadcasting House in central London were lowered in his memory and all BBC Radio networks fell silent for two minutes in recognition of its founding father The use which may be made of these new powers Marconi had broadcast on the BBC in 1929: “I must leave to your imaginations the use which may be made of these new powers They will probably be as wonderful as anything of which we have experience today.” We take Marconi’s pioneering spirit of wonder into our celebration of BBC 100 as we look to a future of continued innovation and creativity And we are also mindful of ‘the use which may be made of these new powers’ of the key role of the BBC and of public service broadcasting in general – more important now than ever – to be a voice of clarity and truth for all our audiences With many thanks to the Citta Sasso Marconi and the Fondazione Marconi for this touching and prestigious award “For the importance of the BBC radio and television network and evolving into one of the world's largest and most important radio and television networks.”  beginning with the immortal words: 2LO calling… with as rescuers worked under pounding rain throughout the night to save people in what has been described as the most severe flooding to affect Italy in 100 years The floods in the northern Emilia-Romagna region have claimed 13 lives as of Thursday evening An estimated 20,000 have been left homeless in a disaster that caused 23 rivers to burst their banks and 280 landslides after a landslide in Sasso Marconi on Thursday afternoon Among the dead were an elderly couple trapped inside their home in Cava “We heard their cries for help,” a neighbour told Il Messaggero newspaper 1:19Drone footage shows after falling into a well while trying to pump water away from his property Firefighters have carried out 2,000 rescue operations across the region and in parts of central Marche that were also affected by the floods Forty elderly people were saved from a care home overnight as police were inundated with calls seeking help Elderly people who sought refuge on rooftops were saved by helicopters Volunteers described carrying people out of their homes told La Nazione newspaper: “We worked all night in the pouring rain we carried the elderly and disabled in our arms and brought them on a dinghy to rescuers who in turn transported them to shelters.” compared the devastation to the earthquake that hit the region in 2012 in which 28 people died “The damage will be quantitatively smaller but it will be a few billion euros,” he told Rai 3 television “We will rebuild everything as we did for the earthquake.” People clean up debris at a coffee shop in Faenza Photograph: Claudia Greco/ReutersThe floods have destroyed homes and shops and left more than 5,000 farms under water The owner of a shop in Faenza that has been selling kitchen equipment since 1950 told Ansa news agency: “We’ve been cleaning up since 6am I live outside Faenza and in 2014 there was a flood but nothing like this – I’ve never seen anything like this one had slightly improved by Thursday afternoon “There are almost no more areas that are flooded,” said Matteo Raggi a spokesperson for the mayor of the Forlì-Cesena region “Mud remains … we are now cleaning the waste from the streets The big problem is the hillside areas that have been hit by landslides and trying to reach people there – many have been cut off because of the landslides but also because there is no mobile phone reception told La Repubblica it was the worst flood to affect Italy in a century It followed flooding in Emilia-Romagna and parts of Marche in early May in which two people died Six months’ worth of rain fell in two weeks Emilia-Romagna and other areas of northern Italy were blighted by a drought that dried out land 310 extreme weather events were registered Thirteen people were killed in floods in Marche last September and 12 people died in a landslide on the island of Ischia in late November “The only new thing to say about the latest floods is that two records were broken in 15 days in the same region,” said Luca Mercalli the president of the Italian Meteorological Society “An event like the one that occurred on 2 May might happen once in a century but then another hit 15 days later – having two occasions of intense rain within such a short timeframe Let's be clear, given the eleventh place in the standings with 37 points, the salvation of the yellow and blues now seems certain regardless of what the next results will be but, in order not to be influenced by what will happen on the other fields, captain Geroni and his teammates will have to do everything to take home the entire stake. Newly promoted after winning the last Eccellenza championship, the yellow and blues have had an up and down season at least in terms of results, but, thanks to the recent positive trend (five points in the last three despite two away games), the seasonal objective can now be considered achieved. To protect it, and to bid farewell to the friendly audience in a positive way, Pedrelli's band wants to try to beat the Cittadella Vis Modena, another ambitious newly promoted team led by former Sassese coach Mattia Gori. The Modena team, seventh at 43 and eager to reach professional football as soon as possible, is a far from easy opponent to face given the high quality of the squad, but the Sasso However, it has all the credentials to snatch the three points and thus present itself with greater serenity at the all-Bolognese derby scheduled for next Sunday at Corticella's home. You don't have permission to access the page you requested What is this page? The website you are visiting is protected. For security reasons this page cannot be displayed Predictions aside, Pedrelli's band will have to play the classic spirited game and take advantage of their greater hunger for points. It's true, the calendar smiles on the yellow and blues (who in the last three will face Zenith Prato, Cittadella Vis Modena and Corticella), but a positive result today against Tau would mean mortgaging the salvation with three days to spare: this would be an extraordinary result for a newly promoted team. As many of the spa town’s restaurants, including most recently Norse, Jamie’s Italian and Byron, have shut their doors, Sasso and Caffe Marconi continue to go from strength to strength. Family-run restaurant Sasso opened its doors in Princes Square, Harrogate, for the first time in May 1998 – the brainchild of Italian chef Stefano Lancellotti and his English wife Sara, along with her father Brian Ferguson. Named after Stefano’s home town of Sasso Marconi, just outside Bologna in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy, Sasso quickly built up a reputation across Harrogate and beyond for its home-made authentic Italian cuisine. And it is a reputation that Stefano and Sara have built on during the past two decades in Harrogate – Sasso has had an entry in the The Good Food Guide almost every year since 2008. We are delighted to celebrate Sasso’s 20th birthday and Caffe Marconi’s 10th birthday – we are incredibly grateful to all our loyal customers for supporting us over the past two decades. And he puts the restaurant and café’s longevity down to providing consistently good home-made authentic Italian food. When Sasso first opened, there were just two of us in the kitchen and three staff in the restaurant – now there are six of us cooking in the kitchen and nine staff out front. We are delighted that our authentic home-made Italian cooking and excellent customer service continues to inspire. After 10 years in Harrogate, Stefano, Sara and Brian decided to open a second venue in the town – and Caffe Marcon was born. An authentic Italian café, a few doors away from Sasso, the venue becomes a bustling pizzeria by night. Over the years. Stefano’s menu at Sasso has evolved, as well as the size of the restaurant. With just 60 covers in 1998, Stefano’s favourite dish then was Sformatino di funghi – individual porcini mushroom mousse with basil sauce. In 2018, with 110 covers in Sasso and Caffe Marconi, Stefano’s favourite meal is Tagliolini con aglio, olio e frutti di mare – home-made pasta ribbons with sweet garlic, calamari, courgette and a Sicilian breadcrumb and chilli topping! Cooking has changed during the past 20 years with new cooking methods including Sous Vide which has revolutionized cooking meat, ensuring all the flavor and tenderness is kept. And there has also been a move towards healthier eating – which is basically what Italian food is! The restaurant scene – and the way people hear about the different eateries – in Harrogate has changed in the past two decades – with the arrival of plenty of chains offering discount vouchers and meal deals. Sasso has tried to combat this by continuing to offer authentic Italian cooking at reasonable prices. Social media has changed the way people hear about us – it’s rare these days to get a word of mouth recommendation, it’s through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram Δdocument.getElementById( "ak_js_1" ).setAttribute( "value", ( new Date() ).getTime() ); © Harrogate Informer 2025 - Corticella-Sasso Marconi, Lentigione-Sammaurese, United Riccione-San Marino, Tau Altopascio-Pistoiese and Zenith Prato-Piacenza are postponed to Sunday 11 May. At the end of the standings, two certain verdicts: Fiorenzuola and United Riccione in Eccellenza, Zenith in case of confirmation of the -15. In case he wins the appeal, Zenith with a victory over Piacenza (already safe) would get out of trouble, having a better goal difference in direct clashes with Sasso Marconi. At that point many would be at risk, with Progresso beating Ravenna and being safe. In case of relegation Zenith's live match (and therefore -15 confirmed) a playout would be certain with Sammaurese away against one between Corticella and San Marino. In good shape, the Tuscans of Simone Settesoldi, who in the last two away games, with Tuttocuoio and Pistoiese, have collected 6 points, interspersed with home draws against Prato and Sasso Marconi. For salvation, however, much more will be needed, namely beating the rossoblù and doing the same next Sunday against Piacenza. And then, hope. The referee is Graziano di Rossano. The other races: Piacenza-Tau Altopascio, Pistoiese-Corticella, Prato-Progresso, Ravenna-Lentigione, Sammaurese-United Riccione, San Marino-Forlì, Sasso Marconi-Cittadella Vis Modena, Tuttocuoio-Fiorenzuola.
