Austrian Grade IV dressage rider Valentina Strobl has said goodbye to para competition sport
She has handed over the ride on her horse Bequia Simba to a new rider
Strobl is 24 years old and will focus on her professional career
Strobl's international career began in able-bodied dressage sport at junior level in 2015
Her career starting horse was the Hanoverian mare Cypria F (by Contendro x Ritual) who was trained and competed in show jumping before her parents acquired the mare
The pair made its international show debut at junior level at the CDI Darmstadt
In 2016 they showed at CDI's in Stadl Paura
They were 6th at the 2016 Austrian Junior riders Championships
The Hanoverian gelding Bequia Simba (by Bequia x Sandro) was purchased in 2017 and Valentina premiered him at junior level at the 2018 CDI Wiener Neustadt
They competed at the 2018 European Junior Riders Championships in Fontainebleau and finished 58th in the individual test with 63.00%
On Cypria F in 2015In 2014 Strobl was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis
but continued to ride able-bodied dressage until 2019
when she made the definite switch to para sport
Strobl's first CPEDI was on Bequia Simba in Somma Lombardo
Half a year later they won their first CPEDI test in Sopot
while in 2021 they went to Doha and Munich to clinch a spot at the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics where Valentina and Bequia Simba were 13th in the individual test
Strobl competed in only one international in 2022. Cypria F was put to sleep in March 2022 after getting injured in a hacking accident
and returned full throttle in 2023 in Mannheim and Stadl Paura
They concluded the season at the 2023 European Para Championships in Riesenbeck
where they were 14th in the GP A-test and 13th in the GP B-test
Valentina's last competition year was this year, competing in Motesice, Mannheim and Stadl Paura, but she withdrew from the 2024 Paralympic race after Bequia Simba sustained an injury
At the 2018 European Junior ChampionshipsStrobl has announced her farewell to para competition sport
"I decided to focus more on my life away from professional equestrianism
It was very hard sometimes to manage the sport
a job and also private life," Strobl told Eurodressage
Strobl works as an advertising subsidy specialist in sales operations management at the lifestyle gear company AQIPA Gear Guru
In October Valentina passed on the ride on Bequia Simba to her trainer
"One year ago Bernd was riding Simba one time and from then on I knew that these two just match perfectly," said Valentina
"Bernd knows Simba very well from our trainings and also the competitions
Then it was my wish to give Bernd the opportunity to ride Simba
so that he has another partner for competitions

Pepo Puch is targeting a world title on new horse Sailor's Blue at Tryon 2018
Austria’s most prolific Para equestrian rider Pepo Puch is not new to the World Equestrian Games (WEG)
as the competition begins 18 September in Tryon
The duo will debut together at a major international competition in Tryon
and Puch – a multi- Paralympic and European champion – is managing his expectations
with lots of first time experiences for him
including his first time on an aeroplane,” Puch said
Puch is completing his first season on Sailor’s Blue
The pair has racked up wins at five three-star competitions across Europe this year
including at Italy’s Somma Lombardo and Germany’s big competition in Mannheim
“The first season with the horse has been good,” Puch added in his normal understated manner
has yet to add Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) Worlds gold to his collection
He came second to Great Britain’s Lee Pearson in both individual competitions at 2014 WEG in Normandy
as well as Denmark’s Stinna Tange Kaastrup and the Netherlands’ Nicole Den Dulk makes the grade one of the most closely fought in the whole sport
“The competition is much more exciting now,” Puch said
“It’s a busy grade which makes it fun to watch and see what happens
The World Equestrian Games mark the mid-way point of the four year summer Paralympic Games cycle
and that is one reason why Puch is riding Sailor’s Blue
“I’m looking towards Tokyo with my choice of taking Sailor’s Blue to WEG instead of my Rio 2016 and 2017 European title winner Fontainenoir,” Puch said
as was the chance to see again the progress of the sport
“In Tryon the standard will go up again and new leaders will emerge
But it will be wonderful to be in one place with all the other equestrian disciplines again.”
Away from the arena Puch runs his own chimney sweeping business and lives in Switzerland with his wife and their 11-year-old daughter
as she has started to follow in her father’s footsteps
“and has just competed in her first championships.”

At a point in time it was Lagos to Rome flight via Kano
the bankrupt airline operated its last flight after 74 years and transmuted to Italia TrasportoAereo (ITA)
Air Italia had brief romance with the Lagos route but since the last eight years
there has not been direct passenger flight between Nigeria and Italy
privately owned Italian commercial airline headquartered in Somma Lombardo
Lombardy that operates largely Boeing B737 and Boeing B787 aircraft to over 73 scheduled domestic
European and intercontinental destinations
the airline would begin flight service between Lagos and Malpensa
Milam and would kick off with one weekly flight and later three weekly flights
which will handle its operations in Nigeria
Neos Airline will rekindle that connectivity that brought Nigeria and Italy together because there is a huge Nigerian community in Italy
Many travel observers believe that the airline will fill a vacuum left by other airlines that operated direct flight between Nigeria and Italy
noting that there are many Nigerians in Italy who are yearning to have a direct flight between the two countries
They also observed that the new entrant would make flights to Europe more competitive
A senior media executive whose family lives in Sardinia
told THISDAY that it had been very stressful connecting flights through other hubs to Italy
it would be easier to travel between Nigeria and Italy
“I think the last direct flight I made to Italy from Nigeria was with Air Italy and that was in 2015
but subsequently I was travelling with other airlines from other countries to connect flights to Italy
but Lagos to Doha is eight hours; then three hours layover and another six hours to Rome and from Rome almost two hours to Sardinia
Milan and you drive to Linacre airport and connect to Sardinia
we are happy the two countries will be connected directly again,” he said
Looking at the potential passenger traffic on the route
the former President of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA)
told THISDAY that Neo Airline’s entrant into the Nigerian market would boost competition on the Nigeria-European destinations
“It has opened up the European market and created more option; so
Lufthansa and this will drive down the prices
there will be initial skepticism at the onset but they will be fine in the long run
They should start off with very good service,” she said
saying that Neos Airline will survive on the Nigerian route
noting that air travel is about connectivity; that people come from different parts of the country to travel from Lagos to international destinations; so
the airline operating between Lagos and Milan will garner travellers to Italy and other destinations in Europe
“There will be a market for the airline in Lagos because people come from everywhere to travel out of Lagos
but Neos will have to open connection routes to UK’s Gatwick or Heathrow Airport and US’s JFK Airport
If the airline has good price they will get the passengers
but their success will be largely driven by their service
the passengers will use the word of mouth to spread their good service to others,” NANTA President said
Travel expert and organizer of Akwaaba African Travel Market
also said that Neos Airline has added more options on Nigeria-European destinations and shorten the distance between Italy and Nigeria
as travellers to the European nation will not go to another hub before they go to Italy; except they want to
expressed optimism about the flight service
knowing that there is already existing vacuum in the market
which the airline hopes to fill with efficient and competitive service
He told THISDAY in an interview that the airline operates from one West Africa destination and majority of the passengers in the flights are Nigerians
just as Nigerians constitute the larger load factor in most of the flights out of West Africa
“Nigerian’s are making other people rich and we are treated poorly
That is one of the reasons why we are starting with a strategic way of flying so that we don’t make mistakes
That is why we worked with Neos to design a strategy
taste the waters and be able to encourage people to know what we have come to do
we will increase to three flights a week,” Ogbonna explained why Sky Master is working with Neos Airline and expressed the determination of the airline to partner with genuine travel agents who will help to market the carrier to Nigerians
We want genuine travel agents to be able to sell our tickets
And also we want to be sure that the government taxes are remitted to the government directly
Not where passengers pay taxes and they are not remitted
People come with several types of technology and at the end of the day
airlines are not making the money and government is not getting their fair share and passengers are paying
That is the reason we are robustly pushing that the best system is adopted to be able to enable carriers to see their money
government gets their taxes and the passengers get the service,” he said
The Sky Master boss said that in Neos operations in Nigeria
describing the airline as a budget friendly flight operations
“where even the middle class and the low class who wants to fly can fly.”
He also disclosed that the airline is planning for cargo too because a lot of business is going on between Italy and Nigeria
“We are looking at cargo arrangements but we are not jack of all trade
We want to be able to capture things that are relevant and are what we do and what we sell in respect to that
We are also working at expanding our relationship with other airlines going to the US and South Africa,” he said

The Flaminio Bertoni Museum, inaugurated in 2007 and dedicated to the figure of car designer Flaminio Bertoni, is now located in a pavilion of the Parco e Museo del Volo - Volandia in Somma Lombardo (VA).
The young Bertoni began his career as an apprentice in the Carrozzeria Macchi
In France Flaminio Bertoni met André Citroën to whom he presented his patent for the pneumatic window lift
a more mature Bertoni decided to return home and try to open his own design studio

Attilio Fontana: "Today we have reappropriated all the spaces needed to make this large airport work"
Terminal 2 of Malpensa airport will be officially reopened to passengers
Closed in June 2020 due to the pandemic and the consequent decrease in air traffic
Terminal 2 of Milan Malpensa airport will be back in operation
confirming itself as the "home" of easyJet with a renewed look and new features from the check-in and control stages up to those of embarkation
at check-in there are 21 self bag drop stations
machines that allow travelers to independently embark their bags in the hold
The security check area has been completely restructured
more functional layout makes nine new automated lines available to the passenger
which reduce passenger check and waiting times
an EDS-CB (Explosives Detection Systems for Cabin Baggage) machine will be available when passing through the Fast Track which
allows checks to be carried out without separating electronic devices and liquids from hand luggage
Particular attention was paid to passenger comfort also through the renewed commercial offer: a completely new 1.500 mXNUMX duty free shop and a strong restaurant presence with many innovative formulas and some national previews
The presentation of the renewed Terminal Two was attended by: Attilio Fontana
Chief Executive Officer of SEA – Airport Exercise Company
action has been taken on passenger transport systems
with the installation of new and more efficient moving walks
escalators and lifts in various points of the terminal
The new latest generation air conditioning unit will allow a 15 per cent reduction in the energy used for air conditioning and a reduction in CO2 emissions of approximately eight per cent
over 20 easyJet passengers will pass through Terminal 2 traveling to and from destinations in Italy and Europe
An inauguration that will kick off a summer of great expectations for the orange company
which expects to transport a total of almost five million passengers to over 60 destinations
eventually basing 23 aircraft at its main hub in Continental Europe
“Today – declared the president of the Lombardy Region Attilio Fontana – we have reappropriated all the spaces needed to make this large airport work
It has overcome perhaps not entirely correct choices made by past governments
it has overcome the pandemic and is now preparing to still be the main transport node in the Region
Malpensa must once again be able to fly on its own wings without anyone trying to clip them
It is a unique point of reference in this country to look forward to
allowing it to develop as the territory wants it to develop
We also managed to see this example of a terminal renovation done respecting the comfort for citizens but also sustainability
not the follies that a certain part of Europe would like to impose on us"
“is a bit of a symbol of the attractiveness of Milan and Lombardy
you have to be in line with the times and be very flexible because what covid and war have also taught us is that flows are constantly changing"
"The link with the territory is important - added the mayor of Somma Lombardo Stefano Bellaria -
because it is important to understand that there is an airport that has been renovated in terms of energy and layout
and we are sure it will also be renewed in the relationship with the territories that surround it
We are happy with this reopening and we would like everything contemplated to be connected and inserted into the history and future of the territory that hosts it"
“A dream starts again for me – commented Pierluigi Di Palma
25 years ago I had the privilege of writing the decree for the Malpensa hub and I was able to decide the opening date
Participating in this restart is a significant moment
Malpensa certainly brings wealth to the area
Starting again today is a little more complicated but perhaps more challenging
and I think the managers of SEA have had the foresight to make this investment despite the difficulties of air transport"
“We are celebrating our return to Terminal 2 – said EasyJet's Lorenzo Lagorio -
Malpensa has been an easyJet base since 2006
Today we have 900 employees and 23 airplanes
One in three passengers from Malpensa flies with Easyjet
and from tomorrow it will do so from terminal 2"
“Our customers – he added – want us to fly from Terminal 2
because the experience for leaving and returning is faster and simpler
Over 20 percent of operations at Malpensa are done with Airbus A321 neo aircraft
"Probably May as a month in its own right - concluded Armando Brunini
CEO of Sea - will be the first month in which the Milan airport system shows positive signs
after 38 months of negative data compared to 2019
Considering a summer for the short and medium range of more than 2019
if we hadn't reopened we could have created disruptions
We have invested 28 million plus 10 of the business partners
The shell and flows have remained the same
So today more than ever I appreciate the vintage charm of this airport
which is one of the oldest in the Lombardy airport system but with modern processes and technologies"
several other representatives of the Lombardy regional council were also present at the inauguration: the councilor for culture Francesca Caruso
the councilor for the environment Giorgio Maione and the undersecretary of the Presidency of the Lombardy Region with responsibility for international relations and Europeans
“We are happy – highlighted commissioner Caruso – for this great sign of restart
Reactivating Terminal 2 means enhancing the attractiveness of the area and attracting more tourism and therefore also cultural tourism”
“Malpensa – said councilor Maione – thinks in terms of sustainability
a key element for the future of the economy
It is an important day for Lombardy: a channel is reopening that will bring related industries
We want to be at the center of a system interconnected with Europe and the world and export a Lombard model that combines development and attention to the environment”
“Terminal 2 is reopening – undersecretary Cattaneo underlined – which is a fundamental charter for fueling the development path of Malpensa
an airport that has had many difficulties and that many have tried to put into crisis
it has such a strong catchment area that it has continued to grow”
