“It’s the color that says something happened here—and Martha Stewart’s just trying to cover it with a vase.”
I sorta like the blue for a bathroom — which I really can’t explain because I’m not photographing my new bathroom
If they made this in the same mid-century finish as the larger Songbook Max that I just covered — I would buy one for each of the 3 bathrooms
I no longer listen to terrestrial radio and I am no fan of BooToof except maybe as headphones
These radios look nice but in this day and age I must play the sage and recommend a WiFi Radio by Grace Digital
They make excellent table radios with WiFi
Chromecast and even the beformentioned BlooToof
I own and have given as presents to family and friends about 10 or 12 of their radios over the years
I have also owned a few of Tivoli’s radios and they are a fine
albeit tepidly terrestrial choice but there is something to be said for having a radio that works when the WiFi goes out

With countless audio brands rushing to create new products to add some vintage flavor to their catalogs
Boston-based Tivoli Audio has simply given their flagship Model One BT speaker a fresh coat of paint to get the job done
Whether you’ve gone completely retro with your interior design or just want to add a splash of color to your bedroom
the new ‘70s Color Collection has five vibrant
limited-edition colorways to fit the vintage vibe
Wearing its inspiration on its sleeve in the best way possible
the new series from Tivoli takes the walnut cabinets and overall configuration from the radio-style Model One BT and adds one of five radiant new faceplates to the front: Poppy Red
Each color gets matched on the knobs and even the metal components like the dial surround and speaker cover
While the home speaker game has increasingly become more serious in recent years
the ‘70s Color Collection puts fun at the forefront
Reminiscent of your parents’ old fridge or the “funky furniture” that sat in their living rooms long after they were trendy
each color will spark a different memory for those who survived the disco age
which eschews the louder options for something more refined and accessible
While Tivoli could have gone all-in on the nostalgia
they wisely kept what works about the Model One BT
these variants retain what fans love about the speaker since its introduction a decade and a half ago
With every brand focused on voice-activated or touch-button speakers, the Model One BT creates a satisfying connection to media through its tactile approach, with knobs for volume, tuning, and input mode.
As for the ‘70s Color Collection, the only drawback is that it’s somehow $40 more than the standard Model One BT, which is a small upcharge for a splash of color. So if you still prefer the original with their more neutral beige, black, and silver faceplates, you’ll save some money in the process.
Limited to “restricted” quantities, the Tivoli Model One BT ‘70s Color Collection is available for pre-order now at $220. Shipments are expected to begin in 6-8 weeks.
but the campus and the beer company said they were working on a new lease
and the closure of the taphouse became official with a joint announcement on Tuesday
“We appreciate Tivoli Brewing Company’s contributions over the years and extend our best wishes for their future endeavors,” read a statement from the Auraria Campus
Community College of Denver and MSU Denver
previously said it could be difficult to operate a bar on a college campus
“Parking can be a challenge. Most of our business is driven by either students on campus, obviously above 21, or events at Ball Arena,” Opsahl told Denverite earlier this year. “When those two things are not there
it is extremely difficult to pull consumers and customers into the taphouse.”
The taphouse was a popular spot for Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche fans on their way to Ball Arena
The “Colorado Brewery” was the first brewery in the state when it opened in Auraria in 1864, according to the Colorado Encyclopedia. It was later renamed as the “Tivoli” brewery, housed in a “one-of-a-kind” structure with “a unique combination of Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque, and Rococo influences,” according to the encyclopedia.
The historic brewery building later became a shopping center and then, in the 1990s, it was transformed into the Tivoli Student Union, serving students of the Auraria Campus.
More recently, Tivoli Brewing Company was resurrected by local entrepreneurs in 2012 and opened a taphouse in the Tivoli Student Union building in 2015.
Tivoli Brewing made beer on-site for several years after opening the taphouse, but moved production to La Junta in 2023.
“The Tivoli Student Union and the Tivoli Quad names will remain the same,” campus spokesperson Devra Ashby wrote in an email. “The Auraria Campus is in talks with a potential partner about the space. We will release more information when we are able.”
The Tivoli building is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Tivoli Audio has always been a brand that understands the intersection of audio performance and timeless design
the respected speaker company has teamed up with Grammy-winning producer and songwriter Sounwave to introduce a truly distinctive release — the Tivoli Audio x new.ordinary SongBook Max Speaker
This partnership not only signals the debut of Sounwave’s new art house brand
but also introduces a collector’s edition piece that brings vintage aesthetics
and curated artistry together in one finely tuned package
Limited to just 60 individually numbered units
this special edition SongBook Max is as much a piece of functional audio equipment as it is a statement in design
known for his groundbreaking work with artists like Kendrick Lamar and others
steps into the design world with the same meticulous attention to detail that defines his music
Launching new.ordinary as a creative platform
his vision extends beyond sonic landscapes and into tangible objects that tell a story
Partnering with Tivoli Audio was a natural fit
The brand’s reputation for building audio systems that combine rich sound with retro sensibility made it the perfect collaborator for a launch product that would embody new.ordinary’s ethos: blending traditional craftsmanship with a new creative perspective
The result is a speaker that doesn’t just play music — it makes a visual and tactile impact
elevating its environment while honoring the simplicity of great design
the limited-edition SongBook Max looks like a vintage artifact carefully preserved from a mid-century lounge
Its cream-colored front panel contrasts beautifully with brown leather wrapping
while chrome hardware accents add just enough shine to give it a contemporary edge
beneath that retro exterior is a thoroughly modern machine
The SongBook Max features a powerful three-driver setup: a 0.75-inch tweeter for crisp highs
a 4.0-inch midrange driver for lush detail
and a 4.0-inch subwoofer that brings solid low-end presence
the system delivers a total of 50 watts of robust
room-filling sound that belies its portable form factor
The speaker’s physical controls — including sliders for EQ adjustments and tactile knobs for input selection and power — offer an analog touchpoint in a world increasingly dominated by digital-only interfaces
This nod to the tactile satisfaction of vintage electronics is perfectly in line with the collaboration’s design philosophy: blending the familiar with the forward-thinking
While it wears its old-school inspiration proudly
the Tivoli Audio x new.ordinary SongBook Max is packed with features to meet modern needs
Bluetooth connectivity offers seamless pairing with phones
while a built-in preamp and 0.25-inch aux input allow wired options for purists who appreciate a direct connection
For those who still enjoy the occasional radio session
the unit also includes a traditional FM tuner — a rare feature in today’s wireless-first market
the SongBook Max delivers flexibility without overcomplicating the experience
An internal rechargeable battery, charged via USB-C, provides up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge, making it ideal for everything from backyard gatherings to creative studio sessions. This marriage of mobility and power ensures the speaker is more than just a display piece — it’s built to be lived with and enjoyed across all kinds of moments
Only 60 examples of the Tivoli Audio x new.ordinary SongBook Max speaker have been produced
making this collaboration highly collectible
adding an extra layer of exclusivity for audiophiles
the speaker reflects not just its technical specs but its artistry
representing a premium experience that sits at the intersection of music
availability is expected to be short-lived
Interested buyers can purchase directly through Tivoli Audio’s official website
where the speaker is already generating buzz among design-conscious music fans
The Tivoli Audio x new.ordinary SongBook Max is more than a speaker — it’s a statement about where audio culture is heading
In an era where mass production often strips away individuality
this collaboration proves that there’s still room for craftsmanship
Sounwave’s entry into the design space with new.ordinary hints at a broader trend where artists are expanding their influence beyond music into lifestyle-driven ventures
And by partnering with a brand like Tivoli Audio
known for its commitment to quality and heritage
he ensures that the transition is not only seamless but also impactful
This limited-edition release stands as a celebration of sound
and the power of collaboration — a rare blend that hits all the right notes

The original 1.75Ibs AM/FM portable radio has been wrapped – like certain variants of the 911’s steering wheel and stick shift – in brown leather
The speaker’s cream-colored core is accented by chrome hardware; knobs reminiscent of those prevalent during the period
There’s no question that 1970s decor and this latest limited re-edition – with only 60 produced – is a deft demonstration of that expressive yet refined aesthetic; also very much reflective of Sounwave’s own personal fashion senses
The design was created by musicians for musicians
That sentiment is best exemplified in the SongBook MAX speaker’s sheer power
Encapsulated in the device is a 20 watt subwoofer
The amplifier can reach 100 dB and the rechargeable battery lasts 10 hours
these components offer a high quality and well-balanced sonic experience
Other features include five radio presents
Form and function were given equal attention
“The goal with this speaker was to create something that not only is functional and has high-quality audio but can live on its own as an art piece in your home,” says Sounwave
“At new.ordinary we felt that Tivoli would help us bring our vision to life with their SongBook MAX.”
The re-edition was borne out of both the talent and brand’s appreciation for enhanced music listening experiences
“This collaboration is the essence of music and style,” says Paul DePasquale
“It represents a balance between various art forms and inspirations
Tivoli Audio has always placed creative expression at the forefront of what we do as a company
and there’s been no better fit than working alongside Sounwave and new.ordinary – both of whom embody powerful creative expression in everything they do.”
The Tivoli Audio limited-edition new.ordinary SongBook MAX is available for pre-sale for $649.00 at tivoliaudio.com

Ten-man Tivoli Gardens clinched the sixth and final play-off spot in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) after a hard-fought
come-from-behind 2-1 win over Montego Bay United at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex yesterday
The result also ensured that Montego Bay dropped to third in the standings and out of the automatic semi-final slot and into the quarter-finals
Johann Weatherly put the visitors ahead after 11 minutes
but Nichalia Fuller’s 36th-minute penalty and Lennox Russell’s 40th-minute strike were enough to secure the west Kingston-based team a place in the play-offs
“It wasn’t an easy game,” Tivoli coach Jerome Waite said
“We started a bit slow and we went down 1-0
and when we got the penalty things changed
we came out gunning because we needed these three points more than Montego Bay
although they wanted to be in the top two and we were on the fence looking in
and we are looking forward to great things.”
Montego Bay started the game strong and took the lead when Weatherly ran through on a pass and tucked the ball under goalkeeper Davonnie Burton for the opener
Tivoli rallied and pushed their opponents back and threatened on a number of set pieces and a vicious 25 yards strike from Fuller
Tivoli got the equaliser after 36 minutes when a well-struck volley from outside the box hit the hand of a defender
and Fuller expertly converted from the spot to make it 1-1
The home team would go in front four minutes later
after Steve Clarke ran through on a pass over the top and crossed for Russell to scramble home from four yards out
Tivoli continued to have the better of play after the break
but put themselves under unnecessary pressure when Russell was ejected in the 72nd minute for verbally abusing the assistant referee
The man advantage swung the momentum of the match into Montego Bay’s favour
but they failed to really trouble the strong Tivoli defence
“It is not a hard place to come and play,” Montego Bay coach Paul Davis commented
The Tivoli guys came out and wanted it more
We know what we have to do in the coming games.”

a Boston-based audio company that specializes in wireless speakers with a distinct retro flair
In the last several weeks, it has released a new affordable wireless speaker, the Boutique, and a stunning special-edition version of the SongBook Max
the brand is giving arguably its most popular speaker a stylish upgrade
The Model One is the original speaker that started it all for Tivoli Audio
it was a small tabletop AM/FM radio with a utilitarian design inspired by the 1950s-60s
A decade later, the brand released the Model One BT — an updated model that still features an AM/FM radio
and auxiliary input — that adds Bluetooth connectivity so you could more easily stream music
which adds Wi-Fi streaming and a digital display.)
the Model One BT has been available in various bespoke finishes — mainly combining a light/dark front panel with a walnut/oak/cherry cabinet — but now the Tivoli Audio is releasing special-edition versions that add a bit of color
its “70’s Color Collection” blends the 70s feel with modern sound
It features the same Model One BT in five new colors: poppy red
All models are paired with a walnut cabinet
“”This limited series is a passion project,” says Paul DePasquale
“I have always loved the wood with pops of color schemes in 70s décor
The ’70s Color Collection is a limited-edition series — although Tivoli Audio hasn’t specified how many of these speakers its going to make
If you want one, it will cost a bit extra. While Tivoli Audio sells the Model One BT for $180 (here)
the special-edition models cost an extra $40
They’re available for preorder now from the company’s website
with an estimated ship date of between 6-8 weeks

Nick Wilkinson, Tivoli Theater Foundation CEO, recently announced the Tivoli Theater will re-open mid 2026, after they got a million dollar donation
The theater hosted a "Wall Breaking" ceremony in December celebrating their expansion into the neighboring building
The additional space will offer 5 types of theater spaces
The additions will provide more than 16,000 seats with the memorial auditorium hosting up to 3,500 seats alone
Once the reconstruction is complete Wilkinson says he hopes the new theater provides a connection between the two sides of Chattanooga:
The foundation expects that the theater will help provide more than 750 jobs to Hamilton County so the theater can be kept active and running throughout the day

David Carroll talks to Nick Wilkinson on Tivoli renovations
We had a good friend join us at Local 3 on Friday: Nick Wilkinson, CEO of the Tivoli Theatre Foundation
I do not work nearly as hard as all the dedicated staff and team that we have at the Tivoli Foundation
who do the real work to make all these shows and events happen," says Wilkinson
our kick-off event last night to announce the Broadway season and all the various things that we do."
The Tivoli has been closed for the past two or three years for renovations and will be reopened next year
the shows will be performed in the auditorium
Local 3 took an inside look at what's going on behind the scenes at the Tivoli
It's a $73 million project in total; 90% of the funds were privately sourced
We've obviously had a great response for our Your Ticket to History campaign
marquis...they can figure out a way that they can support to make sure that we have a Tivoli."
"The Tivoli is over 100-years-old," Wilkinson continued
"We want to make sure the Tivoli is around for another 100 years so that kids
and performing arts lovers can have a place that they can call home for a long time
and it's kind of jarring when the walls start jarring
walls coming down means that progress is taking place
Wilkinson went on to talk about the big announcement made at last night's kick-off event about the 2025-26 Broadway season
He says the Tivoli has quite the lineup this year
"This is our ninth season of Broadway that the Tivoli Foundation has presented," says Wilkinson
"We have an incredible lineup as you can see
We've got some stars from the Broadway world
that I like to think changed the landscape of Broadway
really opened Broadway to a whole new audience
which is a really big part of what we're trying to do with the Tivoli Foundation."
Coming up for the next couple of weeks is the well-known Broadway hit Hamilton
arguably the biggest entertainment event in local history
The "hype" of this show coming to Chattanooga can be backed up with numbers; more people will see more shows than anything Chattanooga has ever had
"We don't know of any other show that will have the impact this show is having," says Wilkinson
"We'll have more than 30,000 people that will come through the doors of the Memorial Auditorium over the next two weeks
we'll have 16 different shows with matinees on Saturdays and Sundays
People can renew their subscriptions on May 5; Wilkinson says those renewing will have a period to do so
and then the regular season passes and subscriptions will be available in June
Tickets are being sold quickly; visit the Tivoli's website to find more information on this season's lineup

is the hour announced for the opening of the South's most beautiful theater — the Tivoli." Excitement surged
Newspapers in the region carried the program of upcoming events
and patrons purchased tickets weeks early so that they might be witnesses to the historic opening of Chattanooga's tribute to culture and music
enhanced by a glorious interior reflecting Italy's own Tivoli theater
Tickets entitled the attendee to be seated in lush seats on the floor level of the theater or in one of the two balconies
reached by beautiful stairs and equal in comfort and viewing joy to "any playhouse in any city."
With the structure's total cost of more than one million dollars
the promoters proclaimed that a single phase of the Tivoli's construction surpassed the average cost of an "ordinary photoplay home." Attendees entered the theater
paused to admire the architectural design and had to agree with the management: "It was sumptuously fitted up
"Orpheus in the Underworld," performed by the Tivoli symphony orchestra conducted by I.R
the Tivoli crew presented a surprise prologue
"A Cinderella Fantasy," with scenic and lighting effects unlike any Chattanooga had ever seen
"Forbidden Fruit," which had premiered only two months earlier in New York City
stepped on stage and shared her impressions of the theater and her first visit to Chattanooga
the entire program repeated for a new group of ticketholders
The theater fell dark briefly until late afternoon
when patrons decked in formal attire began lining up an hour prior to the scheduled opening at 7 p.m
The presentation began with a repeat of earlier pieces — "Orpheus in the Underworld," "A Cinderella Fantasy" and "Forbidden Fruit," after which events took a new turn
but this time was joined by "other visiting stars" with their introductions
comments and promises of "returns to the Scenic City."
came on stage accompanied by Mayor Alexander Chambliss and other city officials for a formal opening ceremony and dedication
Professor Spencer McCallie entertained the audience with stories of a Tivoli theater in a town of the same name and described some of the similarities between the Italian structure and Chattanooga's newest landmark
Ochs introduced various film studio executives
promoters and distributors along with reporters from several national newspapers
Amidst thunderous applause and a standing ovation
the ceremony ended — only to be repeated at 9:30 p.m
for a second seating of arts and cultural enthusiasts
The Tivoli's opening spurred an announcement on the same evening
James shared with the press that he was entertaining bids for the construction of a five-story
fireproof building to be erected as soon as a contract could be inked for the 90-foot lot on Broad Street next to the new theater
The annex to the current James Building would feature four upper floors for offices while the lower level could feature several small stores or one large enterprise
James said he was "confident that the space will be in demand immediately when the business public notes the crowds on Broad Street after the opening of the Tivoli."
The choice of a steel component was based upon the speed of erection
"the economy of space as compared to that required for concrete," and the fact that metal fabrication was now competitive in cost with that of concrete
The front of the new structure would match the current James Building with its white brick walls
When asked about the Provident Life and Accident building
Charles James declared that it would remain with its current two stories since adding additional floors would restrict the light enjoyed by James Building tenants
both the current and new James buildings would bask in "free light on all three sides and four sides above the height of the theater." Excavation would begin immediately
followed by establishment of primary concrete foundations and sidewalks with windows to light the basement

The National Trust Community Investment Corporation announced the successful financing of the Tivoli Theatre
The $73 million restoration will transform the historic theater and adjoining Trigg-Smartt buildings into a state-of-the-art performing arts center
revitalizing a key cultural asset in the heart of the downtown district
NTCIC provided a $9 million New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) allocation and an equity investment in the $12.5 million in federal Historic Tax Credits (HTCs) generated by the project
“the Jewel of the South,” opened its doors to the public in 1921 as a 1,750-seat state-of-the-art performance space and is notably regarded as the first public building in the South
After decades of changing ownership and experiencing varying levels of usage
the Tivoli Theatre Foundation closed the space in 2022 to begin a full restoration
"In order to truly improve the Tivoli and the impact it will have on the hundreds of thousands of people we serve annually
a complete renovation and expansion was necessary
The creation of the new Tivoli Performing Arts Center will allow us to feature enhanced and diverse programming
including our new education department and other outreach efforts
“As the cultural anchor for the performing arts in Chattanooga for over a century
this project will breathe new life into the Tivoli Theatre and create a new
more accessible community venue that will house rehearsal and education spaces
ultimately creating increased access for all Chattanoogans to witness and be a part the magic of the performing arts.”
the performing arts center will include a new 190-seat cinema and studio
and upgrades to all service and mechanical systems
the iconic Tivoli Theatre marquee will be restored and modernized to light up the city streets once again
The Tivoli Theatre Foundation will use its new space to expand upon partnerships with organizations like the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera
This expansion of programming and partnerships is expected to increase the theatre’s annual patronage by more than 32,000 people
boosting revenue by nearly 60 percent within five years
“The Tivoli Theatre Foundation is incredibly grateful to NTCIC for their long-term commitment to this important project for the Chattanooga community,” said Mr
NTCIC has been unwavering in its help to facilitate tax credit investment necessary to restore and improve these historic landmark buildings
It is a testament to their belief in our organization and mission and we quite literally could not commence such a transformative project without them.”
NTCIC’s involvement helped to ease the Tivoli Theatre Foundation capital campaign burden and ensure low-cost access to performances and programming for low-income families
The Tivoli Theatre Foundation has raised over $20 million so far through a successful capital campaign
and nearly $12 million in PACE financing is supporting energy-efficient upgrades to the building
“The Tivoli Foundation has done amazing work creating a space for the people of Chattanooga to enjoy the theatre arts
while simultaneously serving their community and investing in the future of their local students,” said David Clower
“NTCIC is proud to have played a part in the restoration of this iconic theatre
ensuring that it remains a center of arts and culture for generations to come.”
"When the Tivoli Theatre reopens its doors
visitors are sure to be impressed not only by the state-of-the-art upgrades and expansion of the facility
but by the mission-driven goals of the Tivoli Theatre Foundation and its commitment to making performing arts education accessible to all of Chattanooga’s youth."

SPENCER — The Tivoli Theatre was at the center of its own drama 40 years ago this month
The theater stopped showing R-rated movies after receiving a warning from the Owen County prosecutor
At issue was whether the theater’s owner had violated an Indiana code involving the dissemination of material harmful to minors
Theater owner Bob Thomas found himself in the prosecutor’s spotlight for allowing minors to view R-rated movies without an adult present
“If the parents send notes with their children
or if they just accompany them to the door and tell us that it's OK their children see this
It was a practice that drew the ire of Owen County prosecutor
who warned the theater’s owner that the practice could violate the law
Thomas rolled out a new policy that happened to coincide with the release of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “The Terminator” in February 1985
It stated that no minor would be allowed to attend an R-rated movie unless they were accompanied by an adult at all times
“If my mom comes over here and pays our way in
can we come in and watch it,” a boy named Brad asked a theater employee
the employee informed the boy a parent had to be present at all times
Brad wasn’t the only potential moviegoer disappointed with the new policy
that should be it,” another girl told WRTV
That girl claimed to have a written permission slip from a parent
Thomas told WRTV reporter Tracy Horth he was considering legal action with the help of the American Civil Liberties Union and the ACLU of Indiana
