unlock access to the world's most prestigious luxury events In Valenza, a small but industrious city in northern Italy long regarded as the country’s jewellery capital, Bvlgari has unveiled a landmark project With its newly expanded Manifattura — now the world’s largest single-brand jewellery manufacturing site — the Roman Maison isn’t merely scaling up It’s making a statement about what modern luxury should look like: sustainable The facility now spans 33,000 square metres with an expansion that adds nearly 19,000 sqm and sets the brand on course to double its production capacity by 2029 Over 1,100 employees currently work on site with 500 more jobs projected in the next four years But behind this growth lies a quieter transformation — one powered by solar energy and humming with the activity of one million bees Sustainability is embedded into every layer of the site’s design. The factory’s energy needs are met through a blend of over 4,100 photovoltaic panels and a geothermal system comprising 100 ground probes. Despite its size, the expanded complex maintains the same carbon footprint as before. The site is LEED Gold-certified, a distinction awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and it is one of the most rigorous global standards for sustainable construction Certification recognises excellence in energy efficiency Bvlgari’s environmental ambitions go beyond the building itself. An 8,000-square-metre area outside the factory has been rewilded with native tree species in partnership with the Po and Orba River Park Authority. Ten beehives — home to nearly a million bees — have been installed nearby. Every piece of jewellery produced here is crafted using 100% gold from sources certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council a milestone Bvlgari reached in 2022 and still leads within the industry Yet sustainability, in Bvlgari’s eyes, is not only ecological — it’s cultural. The Valenza facility has become a blueprint for preserving and renewing Italian savoir-faire. The site now hosts Scuola Bvlgari, the Maison’s first publicly accessible jewellery school. Developed with Italy’s Tarì Design School (TADS) it offers professional training in goldsmithing and gemstone setting Positioned symbolically between the new and original buildings and joined by a suspended walkway the school is designed to pass on artisanal traditions while embracing modern methods This builds on the success of Bvlgari’s internal Jewelry Academy established in 2017 to train newly hired artisans forward-looking ecosystem: one that cultivates talent ensures the survival of complex handcraft techniques Courses are recognised by the Italian Ministry of Education and aligned with European standards — making them both legitimate and aspirational Bvlgari’s new Manifattura also reimagines what a workplace in luxury can be The brand has introduced well-being programmes that range from preventive health screenings to summer camps for employees’ children plus a sustainable mobility initiative and on-site concierge services exclusive world of high jewellery ateliers past Bvlgari’s Valenza site is transparent by design — a place where modern architecture the brand doesn’t just shape precious metals and gemstones We need your help to keep The Jewellery Editor’s independence so that we can continue to offer quality writing that’s open to everyone around the world It means we can give a full and varied picture of the big wide world of jewellery and watches whether it is on our website or social media channels Every contribution is hugely appreciated and key to ensuring our future Christine is a founder of The Jewellery Editor For 15 years she worked in the communication departments of Swiss watch house Jaeger-LeCoultre and Brazilian jeweller H.Stern before her fortuitous meeting with Maria She was immediately attracted to the idea of .. inviting readers everywhere to discover a life lived between the light and the shadow A compelling blend of memoir and cultural tribute In the Shadow of the Stars chronicles Valenza’s six-decade journey through music as Ross reflects on helping stars at their lowest and learning that true light shines brightest when shared “I didn’t write this book to be famous I wrote it to be honest,” says Valenza Some of us just forget the lyrics along the way I hope this book helps people remember their tune.” Whether recounting his early encounters with icons like Lou Ferrigno or guiding the behind-the-scenes rise of Saturday Night Fever legend Dennie Terrio Valenza’s voice is grounded in empathy and reflection From private parties with Dean Martin and Telly Savalas to quiet moments with a horse no one else could ride this book is filled with stories that remind us how far we’ve come—and how love About the Author Ross Valenza is a Brooklyn native A lifelong observer of fame and a quiet friend to many who bore its weight Ross has lived in the shadows of the stars—and found his own light in the process Ross Valenza USA Publishing Hub [email protected] EIN Presswire provides this news content "as is" without warranty of any kind We do not accept any responsibility or liability for the accuracy or reliability of the information contained in this article If you have any complaints or copyright issues related to this article Information contained on this page is provided by an independent third-party content provider. FashionNetwork.com: You've just inaugurated a new facility in Valenza eight years after you opened what was then called "Europe's largest jewelry factory." What prompted this new expansion?Jean-Christophe Babin: This is now the largest jewelry factory in the world working with precious materials We're not talking about costume jewelry here was Bulgari's first true manufacturing facility—a large-scale operation that brought together all trades We organized large-scale production while preserving the spirit of responsibility typical of small jewelry workshops which often represent the strength of small businesses the project turned out to be far too small we realized we needed to expand because we had already reached capacity That's when we launched the Valenza 2 project The goal is to have a larger production site and expand from 60–70 goldsmiths to 150–160 That's a major effort because it involves people with 15+ years of experience A master jeweler not only crafts the pieces but also contributes to their creation small leather goods sell for €300–400 and handbags start at €2,500 Our hospitality segment plays the opposite role—it recruits at the top end with the world's most luxurious hotels.FNW: How many hotels do you operate?JCB: We have nine hotels and five under construction They have a limited number of suites and target the high-end boutique hotel segment offering a very personalized experience.FNW: Hospitality was the last segment you entered What has it brought to the brand?JCB: It's given us a much deeper understanding of brand immersion and clienteling than most other luxury brands—and we did it earlier Hospitality is the most complex form of luxury because you sell an intangible emotion at the price of a tangible good and we apply these principles in our 300 jewelry and watch boutiques A one-hour visit to a 200-square-meter boutique is a relatively superficial brand experience But a 24-hour hotel stay—from check-in to spa to restaurant—immerses you in the brand at every touchpoint It also helps us attract ultra-wealthy clients who may become high jewelry customers and they hold just 25% of the market.FNW: So what's the growth potential for jewelry?JCB: In a world where clients are increasingly mobile global brands offer the trust factor that's essential in jewelry The global jewelry market is evolving at two speeds Global brands are growing at 7–8% annually This sociological shift toward mobile consumers favors global brands gaining market share more rapidly.FNW: So that's the current market trend in jewelry?JCB: Yes Jewelry is the only luxury segment that always retains value gold and precious stones have had intrinsic value Jewelry remains a safe investment—durable in quality and in value That's particularly appealing in uncertain times It's a reassuring luxury purchase—what I'd call a defensive investment.FNW: Where does Bulgari stand today?JCB: The brand is performing well even in a volatile and unpredictable environment Bulgari's image and desirability have never been stronger—from China to the U.S Let's not forget that we are in a business of subjective desirability we have to generate 70 to 80 percent of new business every January 1 People don't buy jewelry or watches every year A client who buys today might not return for a decade So we must ensure they don't go to a competitor in the meantime.FNW: What defines this industry?JCB: You must be highly desired—we're not essential We provide emotional and status-based gratification that pasta or detergent never will We operate in the realm of emotion—through desire It's not just about gold—it's about storytelling There's deep mutual respect among us because we all reflect our unique heritage Bvlgari has officially unveiled the expansion of its jewelry manufacturing facility in Valenza, Italy, transforming it into the world’s largest single-brand jewelry production site. Marking a major milestone in the brand’s strategy for vertical integration and sustainable luxury, the site now spans an impressive 33,000 square meters—thanks to a nearly 19,000 sqm extension—and is poised to employ more than 1,600 people by 2029. The newly expanded “Manifattura Bvlgari” embodies a holistic approach that unites environmental sustainability, artisan training, and corporate social responsibility. The site now includes two additional buildings—one dedicated to production and the other housing Scuola Bvlgari, the brand’s first publicly accessible training school, which complements the existing Bvlgari Jewelry Academy established in 2017. “With artisans from more than 30 nationalities, Manifattura Bvlgari is a vibrant crossroads of cultures, fueled by a shared passion for excellence,” said Jean-Christophe Babin, Bvlgari CEO. “This expansion underscores our commitment to Made in Italy craftsmanship, knowledge transmission, and the wellbeing of our people.” Sustainability is a cornerstone of the new development. With a geothermal energy system and over 4,100 photovoltaic panels, the site is engineered to maintain the same carbon footprint as the original complex opened in 2017. These innovations support Bvlgari’s broader environmental commitments, which include LEED Gold certification and the exclusive use of RJC CoC-certified gold for all jewelry since 2022. Further initiatives include the reforestation of an 8,000 sqm area with native tree species in collaboration with the Po and Orba River Park Authority, the creation of outdoor recreational spaces for employees and the local community, and the installation of 10 beehives hosting approximately one million bees. At the heart of the expansion lies Scuola Bvlgari, developed in partnership with Tarì Design School. The institution offers professional training in goldsmithing and gemstone setting, blending traditional methods with cutting-edge technology. Positioned between the new and existing facilities, the school serves as a literal and symbolic bridge between past and future—ensuring the brand’s legacy is passed on to a new generation of artisans. “Our vision is about more than just preserving craftsmanship—it’s about advancing it,” said Corinne Le Foll, Bvlgari Jewelry Managing Director. “With Scuola Bvlgari, students receive hands-on instruction from master artisans and industry professionals, opening the door to long-term careers in high jewelry and reinforcing our commitment to the genius of Made in Italy.” Bvlgari’s expanded Valenza Manifattura is not just a production site—it’s a forward-looking ecosystem devoted to craftsmanship, sustainability, and community. The facility was inaugurated with great fanfare on April 16 It is a vast three-floor building plus a basement extending over 33,000 square metres and nestling in the Piedmont countryside The façade is covered in black and gold-coloured plates immediately reminding visitors they are entering the world of Bulgari Some of the brand's iconic jewellery is showcased at the entrance and a series of large-scale pictures of Bulgari's finest creations and campaigns are hung on the walls of the long interspersed with windows overlooking the workshops.Bulgari They were both long-established and distant from one another and had been bought by Bulgari over the years from some of its sub-contractors Bulgari decided to bring together all its various trades under one roof One of the islands specialises in creating the high jewellery items of the Alta Gamma collection while one-off items are made in Bulgari’s high jewellery atelier in Rome. The central building is home to “canteens and two jewellery schools:” The Bulgari Academy set up in 2017 and offering a highly specialised training programme for new employees focused on artisanal techniques specific to the brand catering to classes of 80 students per year It is “the first training school in this field that is open to the public and the first-ever to be incorporated within a jewellery manufacturing site,” said Bulgari has also embarked on a major manufacturing project in this bastion of the Italian jewellery industry Italian brand Damiani is also present in Valenza jewellery is produced according to its construction type using both traditional methods and more modern industrial ones often employing highly sophisticated CNC tooling machines The site looks extremely futuristic in places with ubiquitous screens that serve as dashboards to track the machines’ work and to communicate with employees to invite them to participate in the “suggestions programme,” a kind of ideas contest to “minimise waste of precious materials.” Elsewhere an automated machine is used to supply craftsmen with the tools they need “Valenza's speciality is what is known as ‘everyday jewellery’ retailing at prices that range from €2,000 to €80-90,000 which we produce in Rome,” said Babin.Bulgari's objective is to bring back in-house some of the production stages which were outsourced in recent years for lack of capacity by incorporating crafts that previously were entirely outsourced Babin wants Bulgari to be familiar with all the industry's crafts and for all of them to be practised at least partially in-house so that the brand can acquire an even more in-depth knowledge of the jewellery industry. The Bulgari site in Valenza is also distinctive for its sustainable design It has been built using innovative technologies and low-impact materials to achieve LEED (leadership in energy and environmental design) Gold certification an extremely rigorous sustainable construction standard “It is also the first and only factory in the world 100% powered by renewable energy half of which is produced internally,” said Babin By Rob Bates | July 11 Kering-owned jewelry manufacturer Pomellato announced today it has acquired Valenza Setting Lab (VSL) Both Pomellato and VSL are based in Italy—in Milan and Valenza The acquisition is meant to reinforce Pomellato’s manufacturing capabilities particularly in the diamond and precious stone setting segment Valenza Setting Lab was founded by Marcello Monti and Gilberto Dentelli and employs 24 people Its setters had worked for another Valenza-based company Kering purchased a majority stake in Pomellato in 2013 Top: A Pomellato high jewelry piece being produced (photo courtesy of Pomellato) By Rob Bates May 05 By Annie Davidson Watson May 05 By Brittany Siminitz May 05 By Karen Dybis May 05 2025 © RX USA. ECG signal was used to extract the HRV (Rajendra Acharya et al., 2006) which reflects the sympathetic-parasympathetic balance HRV refers to the variation of the time interval between consecutive heartbeats Segmentation was applied according to the arousal classes the ECG was pre-filtered through a moving average filter in order to extract and subtract the baseline The frequency response of an M point moving average filter is expressed as follows: This approach was based on smoothness priors regularization Since the RR interval (tR−R) is defined as the interval between two successive QRS complexes a statistical analysis on the changes in SDNN through the sessions is provided as well to characterize HRV in terms of low-dimensional chaos-like determinism we have used the resampled HRV as an input of the DLE and ApEn algorithms The Lyapunov exponent describes the speed of attraction (convergence) of trajectories in each dimension of the attractor three Lyapunov exponents describe the evolution of the volume of a cube the sum of all Lyapunov exponents indicates how the measure of a hypercube evolves in a multidimensional attractor The sum of positive exponents indicate the spreading rate of the hypercube hence the increase of unpredictability per unit time This dynamic is practically dominated by the largest positive (or Dominant) Lyapunov exponent It describes the expansion along the principal axis (pi) of the hypercube over a given time interval t the exponents (λi) are calculated as: xN) we calculated a set of vectors Xi such that where Δ is the time delay in a number of samples and m is the embedding dimension of the vector. The embedding dimension is usually estimated in accordance with Takens's theorem (Takens, 1981) A common choice for the time delay estimation by means of the correlation sum was addressed by Liebert and Schuster (Liebert and Schuster the algorithm locates the nearest neighbor of each point on the trajectory is found by searching for the point that minimizes the distance to the particular reference point where dj(0) is the initial distance from the jth point to its nearest neighbor The largest Lyapunov exponent is then estimated as the mean rate of separation of the nearest neighbors the time delay Δ was held constant to 1 beat in order to ensure that we are looking at the same dynamics among the neutral and the arousal sessions ApEn measures the complexity or irregularity of the signal (Fusheng et al., 2000; Richman and Moorman, 2000) Large values of ApEn indicate high irregularity and smaller values of ApEn indicate a more regular signal and N is the number of measured RR intervals The distance between these vectors is defined as the maximum absolute difference between the corresponding elements for each uj the relative number of vectors uk for which d(uj The index is denoted with Cmj (r) and can be written in the form: the value of Cmj (r) is always lesser than or equal to 1 at least 1/(N − m + 1) since uj is also included in the count take the natural logarithm of each Cmj (r) and average over j to yield: The value of the estimate ApEn depends on three parameters: the length m of the vectors uj The length N of the data also affects ApEn As N increases the ApEn approaches its asymptotic value The tolerance r has a strong effect on ApEn and should be selected as a fraction of the Standard Deviation of all Normal-to-Normal (SDNN) intervals the standard deviation of the intervals between successive normal QRS complexes A common selection for r is r = 0.2 · SDNN The ApEn and DLE calculations were performed for each subject for the whole duration of each session Median and absolute median deviation of ApEn and DLE and SDNN across all the sessions Results from the statistical analysis applying Kruskal–Wallis (K–W) and Rank-Sum (R-S) tests no statistical difference (p > 0.05) was found meaning that ApEn findings depend only on the change in the complexity behavior and not on the SDNN value used for the calculation of the ApEn itself This work is intended to provide an important contribution to improving the emotion recognition systems based on HRV time series analysis The authors declare that the research was conducted in the absence
