Belépés TámogatásSomeone with close ties to the Hungarian government purchased a luxury villa in Varese, ItalyEnglish
The Italian article was first reviewed in Hungary by 444.hu. The villa
It overlooks Lake Varese and is located at the foot of the Alps
the buyer paid the €4.3 million price without a mortgage
The newspaper further points out that the buyer was originally a company called Praedium Property Kft.
but the final buyer ended up being Influentia Kft
Praedium is owned by the private equity fund Triplehill I.
while Influentia is owned by the private equity fund Progressus
with all four entities registered at the same Budapest address: Dorottya utca 6
which was required to pay 10 percent of the purchase price under the initial contract
the amount was transferred from an account at Gránit Bank
seven months after the preliminary agreement
the final buyer had changed to Influentia Kft.
as Praedium had transferred the rights to the preliminary contract and the previously made advance payment to Influentia
The managers of the two purchasing companies are well known in Hungary
where she once worked alongside Péter Heim
who was previously connected to Árpád Habony's and Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky's investments in Croatia
she worked for Árpád Habony and Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky's companies
Her former coworkers described her as a particularly intelligent and risk-averse financial expert
but they said they have not heard much about her in recent years
has also been a well-known leader in the Hungarian corporate sector for about three decades
The highly educated economist worked as a consultant for Big Four firms before becoming a senior executive at Magyar Telekom
but was forced to leave along with former chairman and CEO Elek Straub when the management of the Hungarian telecommunications company listed on the New York Stock Exchange collapsed due to a series of deals in Montenegro and North Macedonia
a waste management company operating alongside the Mátra Power Plant
but more recently he has appeared in dealings involving István Garancsi
One such example was his involevement with the Hungarian railway company Magyar Vagon
He did most of his consulting work for the gambling company "Las Vegas" jointly owned by István Garancsi and Árpád Habony
but the company register doesn't list him in the company's leadership; instead Garancsi and Habony's trusted people can be seen there
The Italian paper was clearly surprised by the Hungarian private equity fund system
the fact that while the EU has been working for years to ensure that the actual owners of companies are known
it is easy to hide behind private equity funds in Hungary
And although the Italian newspaper refers to the property as Orbán's villa
it is likely that the ultimate beneficiary of the private equity fund is not the prime minister
but rather someone from Árpád Habony's circle
but they said they would not comment on Italian press reports

But it was really about a Venezuelan in New York
Gustavo Dudamel made a rare visit to his orchestra-to-be Thursday night
energetically leading the New York Philharmonic in works by Varèse
The occasion was of course attended by fanfares
from a police siren in Varèse’s Amériques to taxi horns in Gershwin’s French travelogue
pairing the much-admired conductor and future music director of the Philharmonic with the even more popular Chinese-American pianist Yuja Wang
performing both of Ravel’s piano concertos on the same program
The French composer was born 150 years ago last Friday
Adding still more luster to the occasion was the world premiere of a recently discovered fragment by Ravel
the Prélude et Danse from a projected cantata
the Philharmonic replaced the concertos on the program with two familiar Ravel pieces for orchestra
the Suite from Ma Mère l’Oye and the Suite No
The Sémiramis music was unveiled as scheduled
which is still Dudamel’s base for a little longer
a frequently heard question about actors is
“Can he carry the show?” The answer Thursday was yes
attentive direction of Amériques kept that famously cacophonous piece on track
The immense orchestra reveled in the sudden crescendos and stuttering rhythms
the first piece he composed after arriving in his adopted home country
as if to indicate the music was not simply an Ivesian street scene or even a portrait of one nation
Even the notorious siren was there not as a touch of local color but as a musical instrument of infinitely variable pitch
not limited to the 12 notes of the chromatic scale
Like the many composers whom this piece influenced
Dudamel focused on Amériques as a composition
and for once Varèse’s musical intentions came through as clearly as that howling siren
Anything that could successfully follow Amériques would have to be something completely different
and it’s hard to imagine anything more different than Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite
originally composed for two children to play at one piano
The composer’s luminous orchestration used about a third as many players as Varèse did
but achieved effects from infinitely tender to dazzling
and rose to real splendor in the closing movement
The conductor was in “Uncle Gustavo” mode throughout
gently shaping the “Pavane of the Sleeping Beauty,” “Tom Thumb” and “Conversations of Beauty and the Beast,” and enjoying the racket of Chinese-style percussion in “Laideronette
The European fascination in that era with cultures to the east also gave rise to this program’s novelty item
apparently with an eye on the Prix de Rome competition at the Paris Conservatoire
a read-through in the orchestra class of Paul Taffanel
and then lay inexplicably unperformed for another 20
like all the others on the program except Amériques
emphasizing the deep gloom of the opening pages for low instruments
and the oriental percussion that a contemporary observer noticed in that long-ago performance under Taffanel
like other young French composers of that era
felt the eastward pull of Russian composers such as Borodin and Balakirev
But Sémiramis also seemed to bear the stamp of Bizet’s Carmen in its bold string phrasing
impassioned cello solo and persistent habanera rhythm
At five minutes’ duration and more of a curiosity than a major addition to the Ravel canon
it at least offered a glimpse of a future master emerging from his conservatory cocoon
The orchestra’s ranks swelled again for the spectacular Daphnis et Chloë suite
No doubt it was orchestral virtuosity on this level that inspired Gershwin to request composing lessons from Ravel
who famously advised the young American to compose “good Gershwin” instead of “bad Ravel.”
was pleased to display its own virtuosity in the watery ripple of woodwinds
the glowing brass and the soaring strings of the ballet’s “Daybreak” movement
Tender solos for flute and violin contrasted with robust strings in the lovers’ “Pantomime.” And Dudamel drove his fast machine to the limit
with whirling winds and rat-a-tat percussion
How was the would-be pupil going to follow that? Ravel might have said
although the excitement of Daphnis may have caused him to push the tempo of the American’s Parisian ramble a little too hard at first
(“A New Yorker in Paris,” said my companion.)
But one was pleased at last to kick back and savor the piece’s indelible “nostalgia” theme—lonely in a solo trumpet
triumphant in the closing moments—and to tap along with a jazzy dance that popped up out of nowhere
Gershwin came along a year later and composed An American in Paris
And that Franco-American spaghetti came full circle
The program will be repeated 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. nyphil.org

Edgard Varèse (born December 22, 1883, Paris, France—died November 6, 1965, New York
U.S.) was a French-born American composer and innovator in 20th-century techniques of sound production
Varèse’s music is dissonant, nonthematic, and rhythmically asymmetric; he conceived of it as bodies of sound in space. After the early 1950s, when he finally gained access to the electronic sound equipment he desired, he concentrated on electronic music
written for the Philips Pavilion at the Brussels World’s Fair
the sound was intended to be distributed by 425 loudspeakers
Openjobmetis beats Trieste of the exes at the end of a beautiful match
many exes from Varese in the ranks of the guests
Marco Legovich on the home bench and even Matt Brase (coach of the Immarcabili who arrived especially from Philadelphia) in the stands
Openjobmetis rediscovers itself…Immarcabile like in the good old days and defeats Trieste in one of the few matches that this year has given smiles to its extraordinary public
The fourth-last place is already assured with one day to go and considering how things had gone at a certain point
Openjobmetis Varese-Basketball Varese 85-80
Mitrou-Long 6.5: a game with two faces
And with 3' to go he gets a technical foul for excessive exultation in front of the Trieste stands
Hands 6.5: never like in his case are points weighed
he scores 20 but with a 1/11 from 3 and even 0 in the first 20'
Assui 7.5: unscrews the strings of Valentine's guitar
sending him out of the game (4/11 from the field)
he dives for every ball and grabs 7 rebounds
including 4 offensive and 2 consecutive in the decisive action
More and more possible to leave at the end of the season
it will be very hard to keep him in Varese
A sensational cleanup (6/12 from the field
At the end of the game Masnago cheers him on and he dives into the curve Jim Morrison style
Is this the continuation of the love story
Akobundu-Ehiogu 7.5: without his alter ego Tyus holds up practically exclusively under the basket
In the end he puts in the basket 8 rebounds and 5 blocks
A player who at the beginning of the year was little more than a project and who has been able to grow a lot
Books 8: the captain has a provincial heart
He lights the fuse of the Itelyum Arena and sets the powder alight (16 points in 27' with 5/11 from the field and 3 assists)
A symbolic player of this Openjobmetis and
Esposito 6: He starts sitting on the bench
then Kastritis gives him confidence and he
repays him by capturing some good rebounds and making competent defenses
Anticevich sv: he gets the satisfaction of his first basket in Serie A
Fall sv: he comes in and takes four shots under the basket just to give Kao some minutes
Coach Kastritis 8: salvation and this icing on the cake
Next year Openjobmetis will start again with him and this summer he will also have the keys to drive the market machine
ross 6.5: applauded by the former fans at the presentation
on the field he only shows glimpses of the old Colbey MVP
but he argues with fouls and is not as decisive as in the good old days
He makes his fifth foul with a breakthrough in attack in a decisive action and his old fans say “bye bye” to him as he leaves the field
Brown 7.5: he is the bulwark that Trieste clings to
terminal in shooting from outside (20 points in 34' with 4/8 from 3
Valentine 4: young Assui has fun and unstrings guitarist Valentine's Fender Stratocaster
(almost) never finds a feeling with the basket and throws away 5 balls
Uthoff 6.5: he makes up for the sdengs from outside (2/9 from 3) with so much muscle that doesn't add up to statistics but substance
A couple of twists from below and little else
A difficult season for McD between Türkiye and Trieste
Brooks 6: you look at the messes he makes on the field and you think: terrible
Then you look at the scoresheet and see 11 "silent" rebounds
Candussi 7: Candu leaves his mark in pops and making some quality plays
For him 11 points in 14' with a precious 6/6 from free throws and 4 rebounds
Coach Christian 5: very angry in the locker room and after the match
he never managed to find a way to turn the keys in the Trieste painting

From Lab to Startup: Harvard’s Office of Technology Development Paves the Way for Research Commercialization
People’s Forum on Graduation Readiness Held After Vote to Eliminate MCAS
8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
Judging a book by its cover is never a wise idea
With its striking emerald green cover art and alluring title
Varese promises to immerse readers in a Gothic thriller
Varese’s sophomore novel follows Lucy Braithwhite
heiress to the most successful wallpaper company in the world
as she races to save her fortune from an ambitious company insider
Stifled by unidimensional characters and lackluster narration
“The Company” fails to live up to its potential
“The Company” is a work of historical fiction based on the real arsenic wallpaper controversy of Victorian England
an arsenic-based green was the color in vogue and dominated interior design
After a mysterious illness began to kill homeowners throughout England
it became clear that the arsenic-based wallpaper was poisonous
is unaware of the deaths caused by her company’s iconic green wallpaper
She is distracted by the scheming of Julian Rivers
a longtime manager of the company who is determined to steal her inheritance
After introducing this fascinating historical context
the book falls short of bringing it to life
Brief references to the wallpaper controversy emerge throughout the plot
but none are detailed enough to explore the cascade of change it initiated in society and public health awareness
Lucy overhears suspicious negotiations between her company’s executives and local journalists
She promptly forgets the matter and returns to daydreaming about playing outdoors as a child
she is startled by an ugly sore on the skin of a company employee
and frets over whether it might contaminate her company’s brilliant green dye
Whispers of poisonous wallpaper creep in and out throughout the novel
the lack of further investigation into the phenomenon is frustrating
Her vague descriptions of long-lost emotions and memories trap her in the past and prevent the plot from progressing
Her narration also relies on description alone
which quickly becomes bland and repetitive
“I was growing more anxious,” while unsettling ones prompt questions like
Considering the immense responsibility that Lucy undertakes in “The Company,” she undergoes stunningly little growth
She pays minimal attention to the dirty secrets powering her business empire and spends most of the book complaining about her opponent
With only four short chapters left in the novel
she repeats what has plagued her since the very beginning
and save my brother and the company all at once?”
readers themselves might reach a solution sooner than Lucy
Lucy’s narration does not allow for drawing one’s own conclusions
She praises her company’s wallpapers for appearing “so alluring that one never knew where the mind would wander
if one stared for too long.” For such an enigmatic statement
this sentence does not actually let the audience’s mind wander
Other vague diction attempts to build suspense but only builds confusion
I just didn’t know what it would be.” Given no other context
the audience may only guess at the “it” in question
This tell-don’t-show narration dampens the eeriness evoked by the book’s atmosphere and robs readers of the joy of discovering its world on their own
The novel is entangled in its own game of call and response
which drains the excitement out of what is marketed as a Gothic thriller
the ending of “The Company” is surprisingly abrupt
Lucy’s twisted final actions add to the eerie undertones of the novel and suggest she has just begun to change as a character
Had this budding transformation been introduced earlier on
her lasting impression on readers could have been one of dynamism rather than one of flatness
For all its aesthetic appeal and dramatic historical context
The story suffers from dull narration and a painful absence of character development
Given the book is only Varese’s second novel
perhaps future attempts will land more squarely in the genre of Gothic thrillers
the entrancing cover art of “The Company” may be better off as wallpaper itself

Varese says goodbye Alex Tyus. The veteran center, arrived in Masnago during the season
leaves the Lombard team to return to Maccabi Tel Aviv
the team with which he will close the season
Alex Tyus's farewell is an important operation
especially from an economic point of view for Luis Scola's club
The center's salary is significant: we are talking about about 19 thousand dollars per month
Saving two months' salary with taxes and contributions allows Varese to put aside a decent amount
To which must also be added the buyout that Maccabi paid into the Varese coffers
there is no certain data but we are talking about a figure exceeding 20 thousand euros
Varese has officially said goodbye Alex Tyus with a official announcement:
which certainly did not leave its mark: 5.2 points e 6.2 rebounds in 19.1 minutes on average per game
will continue to wear the Varese jersey at least until the end of the championship
Sources have told Backdoor Podcast that Hapoel Tel Aviv tried to snatch him away from the red and white club with an official offer that arrived shortly before the close of the Israeli transfer window
It is not the first time this season that Hands has been targeted by a top Israeli club: already Maccabi Tel Aviv He had inquired about him in the past few months
but received a clear refusal. The explosive talent of the former UCLA player
combined with top-level performances in the LBA
has attracted the interest of several European teams
betting heavily on him for the end of the season
Jaylen Hands thus confirms himself as one of the most valuable pieces on the European market
with his ability to impact both in terms of scoring and leadership on the field
Let's go back to the pitch: having already said that the tip-off will be at 19,30pm, we still need to note the referees (Baldini, Dori and Galasso) and where to watch or listen to the match for those who, physically, will not be there. Segafredo Arena (Dazn and Nettuno Bologna Uno). The club's thoughts, finally, are entrusted to the words of one of Dusko Ivanovic's assistants, Daniele Parente.
VARESE - Keifer Sykes' adventure in Varese does not start under the best auspices
in the last two seasons in the G-League first with the Motor City Cruise
a team affiliated with the Detroit Pistons
and then with the Long Island Nets (Brooklyn Nets) and the Windy City Bulls (Chicago Bulls)
his former teammate Luis Scola called him back because he thought he was the man that Openjobmetis was missing in terms of talent and personality
a return to the field showing a few minutes of his old brilliance against Reyer Venezia
a first muscle problem and two away games to forget in Cremona and Reggio Emilia (4 points in two games)
a performance as an “old Sykes” against his former team
an unforgettable night in which he had taken Varese by the hand
Now the crack (at PalaBigi he had left due to a problem behind his thigh)
For him the report speaks of a "muscle injury involving the biceps femoris of the left leg" with recovery times that will be long
With this great unknown and a shaky standings (against Napoli it will almost be a play-off for salvation)
Openjobmetis will surely return to the market
In an interview with Malpensa24 Maxim Horowitz
had already said "all options are on the table
we are looking at every possible solution on the market"
"We are looking for the right talent and the right opportunity
if we find it Varese will be ready to seize it"
At this point the attention inevitably shifts to community or already visited point guards
at this point risks becoming a Cima Coppi to climb
The first quarter ends 17 to 13 in favor of an aggressive and attentive Varese in defense but that does not materialize in attack due to the many lost balls
Quarter that smiles at the end of the day to Virtus
considering the marginal gap despite the initial difficulties in creating play
revealed by the only point in the first five minutes
Third quarter that opens with a partial of 10 to 2 practically already in the first minute of play and that seems to start the credits prematurely
Varese tries to reopen the match again with an inspired Assui who with 8 points keeps his teammates in the game
who return to the previous 15 points of distance
But as in the first quarter with the introduction of substitutions halfway through the fraction
immediately bringing the score back above twenty points on the wings of a Clyburn from 13 points
The last quarter is pure garbage time with Virtus continuing to grind out points with a partial score of 24 to 17 against an extremely surrendering Varese
Clyburn 7: The match was unstable until he decided to close it out once and for all
also providing a dunk that would have made you rub your eyes
Polonara 7: He plays less than 15 minutes and takes almost half of the time to get into the game
in particular scoring 7 points in a row in the second quarter that bring Virtus to the first double digits
Cordinier 6: He didn't shine in a match where his extraordinary performances weren't needed
Pajola 7: Each of his entrances on the field corresponds to a positive partial for his team
getting his teammates into rhythm (9 assists) and taking it away from the opponents
Zizic 5,5: The only Virtus player in difficulty in the evening
Hackett 6: Energy and defense at the service of the team
Belinelli 7: He scored when the game was still open and put the exclamation point with a triple for +30
Shengelia 7: The opponents manage to stop him only by committing a foul
in a match in which he doesn't give the impression of particularly revving his engine
Morgan 7: He filled the scoreboard with the match largely over
but his faster-paced game helped Virtus immediately to win the two points
Diouf 6: He played well in the final quarter of a match in which he was essentially absent in the first 30 minutes
Akele 6,5: Some trivial errors but his competitive spirit and energy are essential to create and maintain the margin from his opponents
Ivanovich 7: A sneaky start for his team
Akobundu 7: His explosive athleticism keeps his opponents out of the game and for long stretches he is a real thorn in the side of the Bianconeri in both halves of the court with blocks and dunks
they take his measure and he is unable to consistently give the same contribution
Alviti 6,5: He tries to have his say from beyond the arc and brings a decent presence under the basket to the cause
but in the second half of the game he disappears
Gray sv 1 minute of play in the first quarter
Mitrou-Long 5: The first five minutes would be more than positive
but when the defense becomes more careful he puts himself out of the game
forcing especially from beyond the arc without finding any more luck
When he decides to play for his teammates too
without bringing anything else to the cause
Anticevich 5,5: 6 minutes in a match against high-level opponents
Books 5: He never finds the right spark to enter a game in which he never manages to have his say
Esposito 6: Find two points exiting from a timeout which allow Varese's disadvantage to be brought back under double figures
He is certainly not one of those responsible for the poor performance
Assui 7: In the third quarter when Virtus was definitely running away
he was the only one to concretely try to keep Varese in the game
Case 5: 10 minutes at the mercy of the opponents
Hands 6,5: Most of the 20 points are scored in largely overdue games
Some nice plays but it's more smoke than roast
Castritis 5: He also prepares the match well
with his team putting great intensity and aggression in defense
he does not find a way to stop the Bianconeri from running riot
The turning point in the match is the usual suspects, namely Belinelli, Shengelia and Pajola who from 11-17 in the 8th minute, between the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second, create a 14-0 partial that overturns the score and inertia of the challenge. The challenge lights up with three-pointers. Varese temporarily ties at 28-28, but Virtus returns to extend with Belinelli, Cordinier and Polonara.
CONTEMPORARY ART MAGAZINE SINCE 1980 More...
You can experience art in a contemplative and meditative attitude
or one can make fruition itself a practice
This second possibility guides the collecting of Gemma De Angelis Testa
who has made her work of artistic acquisition an emotional and intellectual ploy to revive the dialogue with her husband Armando Testa
her guide in the discovery of the art-ecosystem
This discovery seems to have been interrupted by the death of the Turinese designer
but Gemma soon realises that the absence of her companion has not left a sterile void
but on the contrary has opened up a glimmer from which to look at the world of art
The eyes of the future collector promise to be captivated by the artists whose voices stand out
and then capture her in turn in the act of gathering together the works that “make the most noise”
goes one step further by making her collector’s gaze the vehicle of a collective gaze
devoting her acquisitions to the education of the social gaze
the title of the exhibition that Villa Panza has decided to dedicate to a selection of works acquired by Testa
The selected masterpieces unfold along the walls of the villa
showing how Gemma Testa’s sense of beauty has been shaped over the years
until the path stumbles into yet another gaze
that of the collector Giuseppe Panza di Biumo to whom the series of permanent works is owed
the comparison between the two creates a short circuit
dictated primarily by the dissonance between the calm silence evoked by Panza’s abstract
almost perfect works and the noise of the collector’s canvases
photographs and installations charged with meaning
make noise even when they would seem to emanate a sense of calm
as in the case of Anselm Reyle’s painting (Untitled
in which the apparent monochrome of black is broken by the thunderous eruption of pinkish tones from the background of the canvas
which breaks the poeticity of the slow shot with a profound restlessness
recalling the drama of the myth of Narcissus and the incommunicability between ego and alter(ego) – the reflected self
The noise increases when we reach the room dedicated to the performativity of female identity
subject to admiration as in the series of Francesco Vezzoli’s elegant
timeless portraits (Embroidery of a Book: Young at Any Age
or frustration as in Vanessa Beecroft’s performance (VB 21.016
which immortalises in one shot the disharmonious and contradictory values to which fashion forces the female body
The noise becomes a roar in the room that contains the performance in which Marina Abramović carves into her own flesh the five-pointed star that has become a symbol of the Russian Revolution (Lips of Thomas
Shirin Neshat’s portrait of the political-religious martyrdom of Iranian women (I Am Its Secret) and the insane social claustrophobia evoked by Andres Serrano’s portrait of a Klanswoman (Grand Kaliff II
The noise is then channelled into the representation of political protests
such as Armando Testa’s manifesto against the abrogation of divorce or Monica Bonvicini’s hyper-realistic belt
The inclusion of some works by Gemma’s beloved and mentor enriches the exhibition not only for their incisiveness
but first and foremost because it shows how it is the most intimate dimension of the individual that dictates the construction of his or her aesthetic sense and not adherence to objective criteria of taste
that aesthetic sensibility takes shape and it is in the experience of sharing – such as Testa’s active collecting – that that sensibility can help shape the aesthetic canon
The canon is what decrees what is of value and what is considered as such has an inevitable impact on the gaze of the community
which is thus educated to recognise the noises and silences of beauty
having become attentive to reading the coordinates of the arts
can eventually convert that attention to beauty into what it conveys: appeals to morality
political conscience or the simple but never banal human sensibility
These suggestions are realised in Adrian Paci’s videos which
driven by themes such as migration and the reconquest of identity
along the rooms of the villa in Varese learns ‘the canon’ – from Robert Rauschenberg to Cy Twombly
Joseph Kosuth – and in this journey has the privilege of making his/her own the point of view with which Gemma Testa and Giuseppe Panza have given form – a unique and sometimes indecipherable form – to their cultural heritage
Graduate in Philosophy from the University of Milan
she specialized in aesthetics and contemporary criticism
Passionate of the art world and devoted to research
she believes in the potential of the interdisciplinary gaze
and the communicative power of art to shape the evolving identity of its time

A summer transfer window is about to close that has seen many interesting names arrive in the Serie A championship
nothing has managed to reach the level of interest aroused by the signing of Willie cauley-stein in the past season by theOpenjobMetis Varese
A purchase that later turned out to be a flop
but which at the time was seen as a potentially very intriguing gamble
terminating his contract with the club in December 2023
he signed in Puerto Rico with the Indios de Mayaguez to try to relaunch himself
Cauley-Stein arrived late in his form and never played a single game in Puerto Rico
being immediately replaced by former Brindisi player Nick Perkins
From the NBA to not playing in Puerto Rico: Willie Cauley-Stein's career has been a clear downward spiral
From an impactful and rotational player in the best league in the world
to a player who struggles to make his mark wherever he plays
in the life of the American and this statement is valid not only for his career on the field
Cauley-Stein has been involved in dangerous situations off the field several times
The former Varese centre himself told the story to The Athletic
Cauley-Stein has played 422 NBA games in his career
his adventure with the Dallas Maverick had closed in November 2021 "for personal reasons"
far transcended the events related to basketball
the American was in the midst of 65 days of rehabilitation for substance abuse
[…] I asked for help before it was too late and I got better
but it was much harder to get back to focusing on basketball
Cauley Stein's near death stems from the abuse of a substance he believed to be Percocet
two substances already very dangerous in themselves
the pills the American was taking were fake and full of fentanyl
A drug a hundred times more powerful than morphine
It is estimated that a single pill could kill a person
and Cauley-Stein had been abusing it unknowingly for months
“Oh my God.” I heard stories of kids who would go to a party
and it ended up being fentanyl and they’d die
Cauley-Stein's substance abuse can be traced back to a very difficult period in his life
after becoming a legend at his college in Kentucky
His pro career with Sacramento had started off on the best possible footing and with great promise
His fourth season with the Kings was his best but
the franchise decided to trade him to Golden State
one of his friends was killed in a shooting in which three other friends of his were also injured
That event started a spiral of mental problems
Trying to deal with it and at the same time playing for a new team
and at the same time my wife got pregnant… it was too much change and too many strange things
so I started using painkillers to escape from reality
his grandmother was diagnosed with bone cancer which slowly destroyed her
Cauley-Stein failed to address this issue as well
I couldn’t stand to be with my grandmother

Cauley-Stein knew that admitting his addictions could end his NBA career
but he also knew that not asking for help could have meant death
As soon as I called to get into the NBA drug program and told them everything

Cauley-Stein has slowly embarked on a new path in his life
is dedicating himself to his family and is trying to breathe new life into what seemed like a story destined to end up in the crime pages
His basketball career is currently on hold

dCS has unveiled its most advanced music system to date
promising a level of performance that it says goes beyond anything it has ever created
The Varèse sits at the top of the brand’s existing product platforms and is the result of a series of projects that began a few years ago
While exploring how to improve the sonic and measured performance of its DACs
its engineers also considered whether they could develop a unified system to transport audio
while improving clocking arrangements between audio components
it also wanted to make it even easier for listeners to discover music and manage playback
and carried out a range of interviews with dCS owners worldwide to understand what the future of music interfaces might look like
Bringing these two strands of research together
dCS decided to create a complete playback system that it says “reimagines how we interact and listen to music” and “reinterprets the dCS experience for a new era”
A suite of new technologies developed in-house at the Cambridge-based hi-fi manufacturer is at the heart of making this ambitious music system possible
including the biggest upgrade to dCS’s respected Ring DAC architecture in a decade
This joins a new patented clocking technology called dCS Tomix
and a bespoke interface for carrying audio
control and timing signals between components called Actus
all helping to reduce jitter while increasing linearity
lowering the noise floor and eliminating crosstalk
an improved sense of realism across the board
with a more expansive soundstage and an increased sense of musicality and rhythmic flow
all helping to create a closer emotional connection with the music at hand.
The dCS Varèse will be unveiled for the first time at the Hong Kong AV Show on 9th August
before it travels to other events worldwide
Demos will be available in the UK and US from September
with shipping beginning later in the year.

Russia in Four Criminals, by Federico Varese
Corruption on an immense scale and the unscrupulous use of law enforcement have left indelible marks on post-Soviet Russia
Federico Varese reveals the scars of these grim decades through an unusual lens: its criminal history
Varese weaves together the tales of four criminals
each emblematic of a different decade and social group within the country
an incarcerated drug-dealer who obtained horrifying videos depicting torture behind bars
and the mastermind behind the world’s most potent computer virus
we witness the transformation of Russia from the late Soviet period
through the tumultuous years of Boris Yeltsin’s presidency
to the authoritarian era of Vladimir Putin
represents the pinnacle of a violent transition to democracy built on widespread theft
and the unholy alliance between crime and politics
The West chose to overlook these unfolding abuses
unwaveringly supporting first Yeltsin and then Putin
Russia in Four Criminals is an innovative and compelling account of one of the most tragic developments of modern history

2024: Seeking to answer what were undoubtedly a slew of questions about its future at once
MV Agusta Motors sought to clarify where it's been
and where it's going in a press release.
it's retained 60 percent of MV's management
as well as added new professionals and specialists to the mix
"This strategy has made MV Agusta completely independent in all its operations," it states in the plainest possible wording
and production take place in Varese and nowhere else; the same
which it says represents a 116 percent increase over the previous year's sales
It goes on to reiterate that while motorcycles and parts may have been stored in warehouses in Austria
all bikes and parts originate from and are produced exclusively in Varese
warehouses that may store MV-produced parts and bikes are located in other geographic regions
which makes sense given that it's an international OEM
"The people who made these results possible will remain in Varese
and nothing will change regarding business operations
as the ownership has never interfered with them," it reads
what's currently in play right now in negotiations with KTM is the shareholding structure of MV Agusta
as well as how that might affect the future corporate structure of the company
MV wants to tell people that it's doing well on its own
and that it intends to continue growing right there
it's been a deeply unfun roller coaster ride for the mega European manufacturer. And now
we have another loop-de-loop in this analogy
as it seems that MV Agusta is about to possibly get off the ride early
On December 9, 2024, trade unions met with KTM representatives in the Confindustria Varese to discuss current concerns. At this meeting, the regional branch of the CV, CISL dei Laghi, reports that KTM reps stated that MV Agusta is "no longer considered a strategic asset."
it means that talks are already underway to return all of MV Agusta's production back to MV Agusta headquarters in Varese
this process should take around 90 days to complete
The current timeline sees final implementation around March 31
KTM plans to sell down the stock of MV Agustas that are currently sitting in Austria
MV Agusta will have to rely on the bikes it can produce and sell from the factory in Varese
but not create additional stock in the warehouse in Austria.
CISL goes on to say that the 13-month salary agreement for MV Agusta workers won't be affected and is not up for negotiation
"any cuts would start with management." Which is probably good
because management likely aren't the ones building the bikes
around 2,000 MV Agusta motorcycles sit unsold
MV Agusta plans to begin its 2025 production run around mid-March
with plans to make around 3,000 motorcycles
Heavy emphasis is being placed on training and learning from past mistakes to move forward with accelerating the three-year MV Agusta development plan coordinated with KTM.
There's also a tiny little line tucked in near the end of this announcement from CISL dei Laghi
saying that MV plans to manage redundancies in its workforce on a voluntary basis
but also adding that due to the current financial situation
there will be no money to sweeten the exit of anyone who leaves
and you decide more bikes are going to be made in one factory than the other
And let's say they're in two completely different locations
so it's not like you're shuttling workers from one to the other
like a roving band of expert wrenches who go where they're needed
you end up shifting production away from Factory A and back to Factory B
Now more bikes are being made at Factory B than you initially had planned
Assuming that you'd kept staffing at an appropriate level at both Factory A and Factory B throughout these processes
wouldn't that change imply that you'd need more workers at Factory B
More highly technical production in a facility should equal more skilled hands on deck
but here's hoping this gives MV Agusta the freedom it needs to keep fighting on its own terms
we're talking about a company that survived a fraught two-year acquisition by Harley in the early 2000s
We reached out to our contact at MV Agusta for further clarification and we'll update this post once we hear back

in a relegation clash already very important even if on the 10th day of the championship
has exasperated the spirits of the away fans present at the PalaRadi
but above all the poor performance of Herman Mandole's team in the second half
A second half with the players practically “on strike”
apart from captain Librizzi and Davide Alviti
the 18-point gap against a direct competitor
Luis Scola has ended up in the crosshairs of the fansThe next day
the CEO of Pallacanestro Varese was targeted by two banners hung in front of the sports hall
a reference to Claudio Coldebella (then general manager of Varese
who “came into contact” with the ultras of the curve)
a reference to the “American style” frowned upon by the fans
with other "sub-themes" linked to the match: the return of Nico Mannion to Masnago and the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the inauguration of the "Lino Oldrini" (now Itelyum Arena)
The Argentine coach has not managed to get the team to click so far
apart from the victories against Pistoia and Virtus Bologna
Although visibly tired in the post-match at PalaRadi
Mandole was confirmed by the club and will be on the bench on Sunday
No one thinks he is responsible (or the only one responsible) for the situation
the coach is the one who ends up on the grill
And it is precisely the difference between the Italian/European style (the one missed by the fans) and the american one (carried forward by Luis Scola and the current management
Moreyball included) another of the reasons for friction in Varese
ideological or cultural if you prefer to call it that
between two different worlds of understanding and managing basketball
it should be noted a blitz in the middle of the night inside the Itelyum Arena
Unknown people targeted the recently inaugurated Sky Boxes
It is easy to associate the blitz with protests
although obviously it is not a given that this is the case
But it is immediate to imagine the Sky Boxes as a symbol of the “Americanization” (or better yet
modernization) contested by the fans to Luis Scola and associated on social media with a sort of “class struggle” between rich fans and poor fans
indeed the opposite of the reality of the facts
victory would be the best olive branch that reconciles opposing basketball concepts
The Serie A championship is currently on hiatus due to the Final Eight which they are playing in Turin
a team will appear completely different from the one it was before
Not so much for the roster as for the bench
The search for a replacement has animated these days without basketball played in Varese
we are there: the management has identified in Ioannis Kastritis the new technical guide to whom to entrust the team
Various newspapers reported it today, including The Prealpina
always very close to the red and whites' business
The confirmation also comes from sources close to us
According to what we have been able to learn
Kastritis has not yet signed the contract but would have already arrived in Italy
Awaiting him is an agreement on the table for the end of this season plus next
which will be put down in black and white this evening when the coach meets with the club
It should be noted that an important condition on the signature seems to be salvation: in the event of relegation
the Greek's chances of confirmation will decrease and not by a little
Kastritis does not want to waste time and immediately put the team to work
will lead his first training session tomorrow
Varese has asked its players to return and take advantage of these weeks of rest to find a new structure
The objective is clear and the club does not seem to want to waste time
as well as the new coach: will it be enough to avoid what would be a historic defeat for Openjobmetis
We are looking at the market to add a new player to the roster combo guard
We will also have to improve on the rebound
Let's evaluate the situation together to make the best possible intervention
we will make a targeted and useful purchase to improve the team"
“I come from places that have a great passion (Iraklis Salonicco
Pallacanestro Varese has an important history
they must be aware of the negative moment and must have the desire to sacrifice themselves together
We know that today there is a lot of pressure because the results are not good
We must give everything so that at the end of the game our fans are happy and sleep peacefully at night
I want the players and the staff to understand this fundamental concept”
Whether he is a “colonel” or a “defense minister”
Ioannis Kastritis has clear ideas on what to do to get Openjobmetis out of troubleThe market should give a hand
but the biggest hand will have to be given by the players already on the roster if they understand that they will have to put on a helmet to go into battle as the new coach wants
Leonessa Brescia and Lampi Milano qualified for the Italian Blind Baseball League (LIBCI) semifinals
Varese finished the 10-game regular season undefeated, followed by the three-time defending champions Bologna (9-1)
Milano tied for fourth place with Thurpos Cagliari and Blind Karalis
The three teams were also tied at 1-1 in the head-to-head
and LIBCI used the WBSC TQB to break the tie
All the regular season's results are available on LIBCI official website

The WBSC is recognised as the sole competent authority in Baseball and Softball by the International Olympic Committee
After separation with coach Herman Mandole
the Varese basketball is trying to close quickly for the replacement
in order to give the new coach time to get to know the team
also taking advantage of the break for the Final Eight of the Italian Cup
The Prealpina reports that the management of Pallacanestro Varese has drawn up a short list with three names from which
but none have ever coached in the Italian championship
The hottest name is that of Danny Franco
is one of the candidates “interviewed” in the last 24 hours by Zach Sogolow and Maksim Horowitz for the OJM salvation mission
He is a technician with twenty years of experience carried out entirely in his homeland
coach Franco won a national cup at the helm of Hapoel Holon
he could be the right profile: Franco's teams are dedicated to attacking and for Varese it wouldn't mean completely overturning their nature
Franco's is not the only profile explored by Varese
among the other available Europeans there are profiles recently dismissed abroad such as the Belgian Roel Moores
who boasts a Basketball Champions League final with Antwerp and fired two weeks ago from Bonn
seen as a player in Italy in Caserta and Roseto
replaced three weeks ago at the helm of Hapoel Holon
He has already worked with Alex Tyus when he was on the staff of Maccabi Tel Aviv
A decision is expected today with the submission of a contract offer to the chosen candidate until June 30
Italian Classic last warm-up race for Tadej Pogačar
Remco Evenepoel before Il Lombardia showdown this weekend
The men's Tre Valli Varesine race was suspended and then stopped with 110km to race due to torrential rain and an increased risk of crashing
The race started as planned with a reduced distance of 170 km but the rain continued to fall heavily
with water running onto the road at some points and drains overflowing
The riders, including world champion Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) stopped in the finish area in the centre of Varese to speak to race organisers after three laps and then the race was abandoned
posting images and videos of the extreme weather conditions
after some initial discussions out on the course with the race organisers and UCI commissaire
the riders stopped on the finish line in Varese.
Pogačar spoke to other riders and the race director about the worsening conditions and then stood on the front line of the riders when they stopped in central Varese.
"We tried to race and did a good race until we could
I was in second position behind [Alessandro] Covi and we couldn't see where we were going," Pogačar said before going to his UAE Team Emirates bus for a warm shower
It was just a matter of time about when some guy would crash
"We understand the organisers - that they want to race - but in the end the riders made the right decision not to
"I could see how heavy it was for the boss of the organisation
This race means a lot to them and it's a beautiful race
I'm really thankful for that and happy that they decided to end the race."
Pogačar appeared especially concerned about crashes in deep water
when you lose the handlebars and go over the bike," he said.
"It's not like when you slide on the asphalt and just get a few scratches if you're lucky," Pogačar continued If you crash when you don't expect it and go over the handlebars with your head
I know a lot of friends from the peloton who had concussions this year
It's something we need to be more careful about in the peloton."
Race organiser Renzo Oldani spoke briefly and accepted that safety comes first.
for the riders and for the spectators," Oldani said.
"This hurts after a year of hard work but I'll try to encourage my staff and volunteers after the riders promised to be back next year."

Exhilarating Realism: Reinterpreting state-of-the-art with dCS Varèse
The Varèse Music System reimagines playback for a new era
using a suite of new innovations to bring listeners an even more immersive and revealing musical experience
The company says it stives to reproduce each aspect of a musical recording with absolute fidelity
This ethos has guided the maker’s work for more than 35 years
driving the development of everything from the earliest digital converters to the current product range
The company says it has devised some of the most sophisticated audio technologies available in efforts to reveal the full impact of the music listeners love – allowing them to appreciate the full breadth of detail and emotion in the works that inspire them
It is the most advanced music system to date from the maker and offers a level of performance beyond anything it has created before
more intuitive user experience and an ambitious design that marries cutting-edge mechanics and hardware with a striking and tactile form
Varèse is the culmination of a series of projects that began several years ago
In addition to researching and developing updates to existing products
dCS spent a great deal of time exploring how to further improve the sonic and measured performance of DACs
The maker also begun investigating whether it could develop a unified system to transport audio
timing and control signals and improve clocking arrangements between audio components
the manufacturer has been considering how to make it even easier and more rewarding for listeners to discover music and manage playback
the team decided to embark on an ambitious project to reinterpret the dCS experience for a new era – devising a complete playback system that reimagines how we interact with and listen to music
The Varèse Music System comprises five components:
– 2 Mono DACs: one for each audio channel
It also includes a dedicated remote control and a new app
A dedicated CD/SACD Transport will also be available from 2025
Varèse uses a suite of new technologies that have enabled the maker to further enhance performance and deliver sound with greater precision and clarity
– dCS Tomix: a patented new clocking technology
– ACTUS: a bespoke interface that carries audio
control and Sming signals between components
– The Differential Ring DAC: a new version of the dCS Ring DACÔ that represents the biggest change to our DAC architecture in a generation
Varèse also features several mechanical and electronic innovations
from new circuit design to enhanced power supplies
The benefits of these advancements are wide-ranging: reduced jitter
lowering noise floor and eliminating crosstalk
Varèse offers all the qualities people have come to expect from dCS on an even grander scale
building on the current range to deliver a new level of realism
more expansive soundstage; an increased sense of effortlessness
musicality and rhythmic flow; even more tangible vocals; improved texture
timing and impact of bass instruments; and enhanced speed and tunefulness at lower frequencies
“We set out to redesign state-of-the-art whilst at the same time creating an entirely new and immersive user experience
We knew we had to embrace a singular vision
and be brave and relentless in our pursuit of this
to bring listeners a system that is measurably and demonstrably special and exceeds the capabilities of our current body of work.”
working across every major project for audio professionals and consumers
I think it’s fair to say that Varèse is the most complicated and challenging project I’ve been involved in
but I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am of the team and the system they have created.”
Systems will be manufactured in limited quantities and global shipping will commence in late 2024. Absolute Sounds is responsible for distribution in the UK

The Varese adventure is officially over Keifer sykesThe former Avellino and Olimpia Milano playmaker has terminated his contract with Varese and moved to Poland
Sykes' farewell to Varese certainly doesn't surprise fans and insiders
The experience of the American playmaker is certainly not one to remember
In just six official appearances with the red and white jersey
he produced 6.8 points with 4.7 assists and as soon as the 17.6% from 3 points
Definitely too little for a team that was looking for a replacement for Nico Mannion
The final word on Keifer Sykes' Italian experience came after the injury he suffered against Reggio Emilia
From then on he was unable to recover his already precarious physical condition
so much so that Varese opted to hire Elijah Mitrou Long
With the termination of the contract of Keifer sykes, which expired on June 30th, Varese saves on the player's salary. According to what is reported The Prealpina
there would be an agreement in principle between the parties according to which the player would give up 50% of the two salaries of 33 thousand dollars that would be due to the player until the end of the season
Varese should recognize the player only one month's salary
We will see if this small treasure will be made available to go hunting for the long-sought-after player
in the event of a farewell to Jaron Johnson
because even the winger is on the doorstep
is no longer part of the company's plans and is looking for a new placement
Obviously a new resolution would mean savings for the management
Lots of news at home Openjobmetis Varese in the last week. After the official announcement of the new coach Kastritis

'The Company' will be released in paperback on Sept
the light was grey and the bold patterns in the drawing room were forming into a storm."
The wallpaper of the Braithwite house holds many secrets
the patterns swirl into memories of the past
Memories that she'd rather stay locked away
the secrets held in the bright green papers are far worse

And there are editorials linking those deaths to Braithwhite wallpapers and its copper mine
Is Julian the savior and protector he claims to be
is he a wolf in sheep's clothing as Lucy suspects
"The Company," which debuted in 2023 and will be released in paperback on Sept
is author Jon Michael Varese's second novel
Copies can be preordered and purchased at The Bookloft in Great Barrington
"The Spirit Photographer," was released in 2018.
"The book always starts with an image," said Varese
of his writing process during a recent interview with The Eagle
'Spirit Photographer,' which takes place in 19th-century America
it was this image of a ghost appearing on a photograph that the photographer didn't put there
And so that image came to me and I developed the story of out of that."
For his second novel, "The Company," the inspirational image comes from two different sources, the first being Charles Dickens' 1848 novel, "Dombey and Son." Varese, who serves as the director of outreach for The Dickens Project — a multi-campus research consortium based out of the University of California — Santa Cruz dedicated to the study and promotion of the life and works of Charles Dickens and Victorian authors.
"I was a graduate student at USC Santa Cruz
There are thousands of us around the world who sort of grew up in The Dickens Project," he said
"I did teach for a while and started a big outreach program while I was living out there
I went this other route and started creative writing ..
It's sort of grounded in my background as a Victorianist
I'm a historian and that all fed into my life as an author
Both of my books take place in the 19th century and they are just very grounded in the tradition of Victorian scholarship
My research skills as a PhD student just set me up to write these kinds of novels."
"Dombey and Son," is not one of Dickens' better-known novels
"It's not one that many people know and read
It's the first novel that he got to plan from beginning to end ..
so it has a structure to it that his other novels don't have
who is this sentimental figure — the child is a sentimental figure in Victorian writing — and the public just ate up these characters."
is a sickly boy who the reader knows is going to die but is "wise beyond his years."
"There's a scene in the book that I've always loved
which is Paul Dombey looking at the wallpaper in his room and he's seeing things move in it
"I was always fascinated by that scene and got to thinking
What would he see?' Then my mind sort of wandered and I thought
that had as its grounding a little boy whos sees something so horrific in the wallpaper that it possibly kills him
That image was the kernel that launched "The Company."
"At the same time I was restoring a house in Kinderhook
and my architect and I came across this wallpaper buried in a closet in some paneling
it was white wallpaper but it had this beautiful green that I had never seen before
'That's arsenic wallpaper.' I had never heard of it," he said
Fascinated by the idea of arsenic wallpaper
if I ever write a book based on that idea of little Paul Dombey looking at his wallpaper
I'll match it up with this arsenic idea.' That's how the story came to be," he said.
also known as "Scheele's Green," was popular among the Pre-Raphaelite artistic movement
as well as with interior designers of the burgeoning middle class and upper class.
was that it was it was not really detectable or not easily detectable because there was no single symptom that indicated that was the condition
Everybody responded to it differently," Varese said
there was no one thing that indicated that you got this
which is what made it so invisible for so long — until the doctors really started figuring out that this was what was going on
mirrored symptoms from other conditions like "scarlet fever or typhoid
any of the great 19th-century diseases that took people."
"It took a while before they made the connection — it wasn't really until the 1850s and beyond
This color was around since the 18th century
It took almost 100 years to really make the connection that this was really harming people and
it was used in everything from wallpaper and textiles for clothing to paints and food dyes.
"They didn’t understand the implications of it
That’s one of the themes of the book — the ethics in corporate decision-making," Varese said
do you have an ethical responsibility to correct it
people don’t make those corrections the way they should."
whether or not arsenic-laced wallpaper was causing illnesses and deaths was still a controversial subject
who grew rich off both his wallpaper designs and his arsenic mines
referred to the doctors as being "bitten as people were bitten by the witch fever" in a letter to a friend years later
Morris claimed to have never believed that the wallpaper was the cause of so many deaths and illnesses.
"1870 is a year when the controversy is not being talked about so much
I wanted the family to still have some possible deniability around this
If the book were taking place in 1873 or 1874
it wouldn't work because it was being talked about in the press so much by that point," Varese said "But 1870
it's only starting to trickle into the mainstream press and you'll see in the book
there are a couple scenes where's some newspaper articles kind of make their way into the family house
What is this?" It's kind of a thing because it's sort of the first inklings of the real public debate on it
you'll also see there's a reference in there to this family that had four children die
They all died because their their nursery was wallpapered with this toxic wallpaper and the kids were all tearing it off and eating it
that's referred to in the book when [the Braithwhites are] talking about some of these news articles and the family is just in total denial about this."
Varese said the novel is also an homage to Henry James' "The Turn of the Screw."
it's an unreliable female narrator — classic 19th-century convention
Everything you are experiencing in the book is through her eyes ..
It's great because it forces you to question whether or not she's telling the truth
when the ghost starts to come into the story
the whole idea of the unreliable narration to narrate
it causes you to question if what she's seeing is real
It gives a level of uncertainty to the book
that I think many readers are uncomfortable with.
"But that was my point — to create an unsettling narrative where you didn't exactly know what the truth ever was."

This is what transpires from the almost haunted eyes of an Openjobmetis Varese who plays a race of suffocating intensity against a Napoli that was first ensnared
the result of a very high pace that Varese knows how to manage wonderfully
undermining the opponents' certainties one by one and liking themselves more every minute
It would be easy to give the MVP award to Jaylen Hands
29 points on the scoresheet and an almost comical ability to break up the double teams brought in to stem their first step in penetration; however
splendid leader of the red and whites at a time when the team's greatest talent is out of action due to personal foul problems
transforms into a scorer with 21 points and 3/5 from 3
Pullen 7: sniper performance from the perimeter (5/6) but it's not enough; he tries to shake up the team with some of his initiatives but he preaches in the desert for a long time
Zubcic 5,5: forgotten at a certain point in the match
he gives the illusion of starting off on the right foot
prey to an accentuated defensive absent-mindedness
before disappearing into the secrets of the bench
the team suffers a lot; it destroys more than it creates
the unsportsmanlike foul called against him needs to be reviewed
however it is also naive to even hint at a protest knowing that you are at risk of expulsion
Woldetensae 5,5: he returns from injury and takes too long to reconnect with the game
it shows that he could still give something to this team
Egbunu 5: some mitigating circumstances because it is not sought (or is not served as it should be) in the various mismatches that are created by Varese's systematic changes
the defect is in rebounding and in defense
there the opponent's dynamism suffers greatly
Green 7: It takes him a while to get going
but he tries until the end to reopen the accounts
Tote 5: the numbers speak of a double double that was almost achieved
the performance says that that extra bit of tenacity that he has shown so many times this season was missing
Valli 4,5: he fails to convey to the team that sense of urgency that his opponents have; despite De Nicolao's expulsion he does not extend the rotations
Akobundu 6,5: he should suffer the physicality of the opposing big men but instead he holds up well
it devotes itself profitably to defending even against much bigger players
Mitrou-Long 7,5: he promptly burns the marker with the first step
Tyus 6,5: he fights against his opponents by leveraging his experience
he promptly punishes their carelessness on the rebound
Books 8: the game goes to him when Hands commits his second foul in the first quarter; his response is that of an absolute champion
just to remind you that he can do that too
Esposito 6: a few minutes on the pitch to give Alviti a rest
he responds with commendable defensive application
Assui 6: he signs up for the red and white scoring festival
he makes his physique count at certain moments
he is perhaps missing a step to become an important player for this LBA
Hands 8: watching him break up the doubles is a mix between poetry in motion and magic; he dematerializes and then reappears already attacking the basket
he beats his opponent without interruption
Kastritis 7,5: management bordering on impeccable
stops the game at the right moments and nips in the bud the opponents' attempts to turn the match around
It's time for The Barenaked Ladies to rewrite their hit
If I Had a Million Dollars – because I reckon that as professional music fans and makers
if they had that much cash they'd want the newly launched dCS Varèse
It's a hi-fi stack in much the same way as a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is a thing you can drive to the mall
Based in Cambridge in England, dCS has been making extremely high-end hi-fi products for over 30 years and launched the world's first 24-bit home DAC in 1996, effectively kicking off the era of hi-res audio
Varèse is the pinnacle of its technical achievements
even more high end than its prestigious Lina
There are four key products in the dCS Varèse system: the Varèse Core
the Varèse Mono DAC and the Varèse Master Clock
The Varèse products use a number of new technologies
including a patented new clocking technology
a bespoke interface called ACTUS that carries audio
control and timing signals between the individual components; and a new version of the dCS Ring DAC that the firm says represents the biggest change to their DAC architecture in a generation
There are also new circuit designs and new power supplies that reduce jitter
lower the noise floor and reduce crosstalk
dCS says that listeners "have noted an even broader
and rhythmic flow; even more tangible vocals; improved texture
and impact of bass instruments; and enhanced speed and tunefulness at lower frequencies
Varèse made its debut on static display at the Hong Kong AV show last week and will travel to other events worldwide throughout 2024
Active demonstrations will take place in the UK and US from September 2024 onwards and shipping will begin in late 2024
Those are UK prices – a quick currency conversion tells me you're looking at $279,000, or thereabouts, for the stack (which is around AU$422,000, before any duties or shipping) – and the sole UK distributor is Absolute Sounds
I'm sure if you asked them nicely they'd be able to transport the Varèse components to one of your mansions outside the UK
Or you could always send your butler to pick them up

And closing with Sunday's match with Varese, Segafredo ArenaOn Easter Eve it was the fans Virtus not being able to go on the trip to Pistoia. Yesterday the Prefecture of Bologna, in view of Sunday's match "has ordered a ban on the sale of tickets for the match to residents of the province of Varese". Measure adopted in order to prevent possible repercussions on safety and public order, in line with the determinations of the Committee for the Analysis of the Safety of Sports Events.
The new version of Basketball Varese could soon have a new field guide
The Lombard team is still waiting for Pistoia's response on Michael Forrest
a player who would give Varese a big hand in terms of salvation
The only unknown is whether the Tuscan team will want to let go of the player and sell him to a direct rival
Secondo The Prealpina
Pallacanestro Varese has put an important buyout on the table for the player (we are talking about 50 thousand euros):
waiting to understand if the Tuscan club will actually sell him (discussions are underway between president Ron Rowan and the other American partners
regardless of the owner's desire to change the structure using the latest one seen for a pure playmaker)”
Forrest is averaging 16.8 points and 3.8 assists per game this season and could be the right profile for Varese
We remind you that the transfer market within Serie A will close definitively on February 28
the new coach from Varese Ioannis Kastritis has begun his work focused on defense
today he will direct the first training session with almost full ranks
given the absences of Matteo Librizzi and Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu
busy with their respective national teams for the qualifying matches for EuroBasket 2025
Bryant Dunston is a Euroleague record holder
multiple European champion and holder of many team and individual trophies
but let's remember that his first high-level experience in European basketball after Korea and Israel was in Varese
under the guidance of Frank Vitucci and in a top-level team that came within a game 7 of stopping Siena's hegemony
Dunston couldn't play in that game due to injury and was probably the deciding factor that prevented Varese from reaching the championship final
Since many have said that with him that game would have ended differently
we asked him how he experienced it and what he thinks of that moment:
I remember perfectly that game 7 against Siena
If you want to share some memories of that year and that moment
Achille Polonara told us in an interview that if you had played
Pallacanestro Varese has made a new player official
Australian wing of Croatian passport He played for one season at Gottingen
when he faced Varese in the Fiba Europe Cup (9.1 points and 6.3 rebounds on average in the European competition)
Anticevich moved to the United States at 19 to attend Berkeley
The one in Germany has been Anticevich's only experience in Europe so far. This year he played in the Australian league with the New Zealand Breakers
He is not a sexy player (the white armband already promises to become a cult object among Varese fans)
He is a solid role player who knows how to help the collective
Helps his teammates perform by taking care of secondary tasks
Great Enrico Salomi excellent journalist and great person
One of the negotiations that has been talked about most in the last few days is the one that could lead to Nico Mannion at Olimpia Milano. The will of the former Baskonia seems clear: to leave Varese to return to the Euroleague. However, at the moment, the operation is at a standstill
Openjobmetis' request for a buyout is decidedly high
and this has stopped the discussions between the parties
The red and whites initially seemed not to want to increase the economic proposal made
Ettore Messina seems to bet heavily on Mannion to strengthen his Italian package. This would have pushed Milan to reconsider its economic offer, trying to play the bull game. According to what reported by The Prealpina
EA7 before the match with Efes would have raised the offer to 300mila euros
A figure certainly closer to what was requested by Varese
which has now started to consider the feasibility of the deal again
Openjobmetis has also reportedly explored the possibility of including Giordano Bortolani in the negotiation
but at the moment there would have been black smoke from that point of view
it is unlikely that the negotiations will be unblocked in the short term
Olimpia is awaiting a very important double round in the Euroleague
which will see EA7 engaged in Vitoria on Tuesday 29 against Baskonia and in Assago against Bologna on Thursday 31
No major news is expected in those days but
the market could bring surprises at any moment
Milan might move for a foreign winger who can also help in view of the Euroleague
