Seven goals to conquer the play-off and avenge the 0-48 defeat in the first leg. The last game of the regular season is a triumphal march for the Valorugby, in front of the Italian coaches Quesada and Fernandez, but we must not ignore that the Viadana, already confident of first place, came to Mirabello with a team more suited to the Italian Cup than the championship: the aces Farias, Locatelli, Boschetti, Dorronsoro and Ciardullo were resting.
Against this Viadana light the Devils had an easy game dominating the first half, of which many spectators missed the initial minutes due to a fifty-meter queue (good sign!) at the ticket office. In the third minute it is already a try for Favre; Cuoghi converts. The first scrum is dominated by the Valorugby, the Viadana forwards don't agree and a brief brawl breaks out.
The match saw the Valorugby dominate from the start, with two tries in the first twenty minutes and four overall in the first half, which ended with a tough 28-0. In the second half Viadana found the way to the try with Casasola and Quattrini, but the gap remained wide, thanks to the desire of the home team to secure fourth place.
The defeat does not change anything in the race for the title: Viadana, Rovigo, Petrarca and Valorugby are the four semifinalists. Precisely the Valorugby will be the opponent of the yellow and blacks in the double challenge next month, while the other semifinal will see Rovigo and Petrarca face off. That is, whoever has won the Scudetti from 2021 onwards.
Now the most important moment of the season opens, and Viadana, queen of the regular season, is ready to immediately find concentration and intensity to chase the tricolor dream.

Time is critical to everything about Ashley Leahy’s life
Leahy is a young figure skater trying to reach the elite levels of her sport
In recent years she’s had to perform a balancing act with her schooling and practice time and anything else she could squeeze in
Leahy has been able to maintain good grades in school and rise through the ranks in skating but the obstacles stared her straight in the face every time the results of competitions were posted
“All the other girls that were beating me were home-schooled and were able to skate five or six hours a day,’’ Leahy
Ashley had been pitching the idea of home-schooling for two years and finally her parents relented in the fall
The Highland Mills resident withdrew from her seventh-grade classes in the Monroe-Woodbury school district
enrolled in a home-schooling program via the Internet and embarked on a new schedule that calls for five or six daily 45-minute practice sessions at the Ice House rink in Hackensack
Ashley trains with former Italian Olympian Gilberto Viadana and world-class choreographer Michela Boschetto (Viadana’s wife)
and she has worked with Soviet husband-and-wife Olympians Oleg Makarov and Larisa Selezneva at Ice Time Sports Complex in Newburgh
Leahy’s skating skills have blossomed since the addition of training hours
She advanced through regional and sectional competitions for the first time and is one of 12 intermediate level skaters who will compete at the U.S
Her short program is Saturday evening and her long program is Sunday afternoon
“Once she takes lessons at the beginning of the morning and the afternoon it makes a big difference,’’ Selezneva said of Leahy’s training program
are both retired members of the New York Police Department
Michael is the vice president of rink management at Ice Time and Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie
“My husband and I have been struggling to provide my daughter the opportunity of her lifetime,’’ Jackie said
“and we are pleased to be able to see it become a reality.’’
Ashley didn’t give herself much of a chance to even get past regionals because she kept placing fifth and sixth against the same girls during the season
She said some of the others “cracked under pressure” while she maintained her focus to secure the fourth and final qualifying spot
She carried a bit more confidence into sectionals held in North Carolina and again grabbed the final qualifying spot
“I was just really excited about the whole thing because I wasn’t expecting it at all,’’ Ashley said
There are YouTube videos of young Ashley when she was breaking in at 5 years old
was a skater so Ashley wanted to get on the ice with them
she was a little quick figure skater,’’ Selezneva said
“At the beginning she did more difficult stuff than other skaters did.’’
Michael Leahy says his daughter has always had a competitive streak but carries herself with grace
Ashley has amassed nearly 70 medals in her career and they are lined up on a rack in her bedroom
“She is the typical demonstration of how important the desire and the dream of an athlete is to reach the goal
to overcome a lot of obstacles,’’ Viadana said
He said her short and long routines are equally good
and her maturity to handle adversity in training has been a bonus
and be a very good skater in the future,’’ Makarov said
“I think she will be a good skater in the Olympic Games.’’

Los Pumitas will compete in Pool B against France
The 12-team tournament will take place in Northern Italy from June 29 to July 19

Malaysian Anwar Ibrahim announced today that Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) (KWAP) will invest US$640 million (RM3 billion) in Shariah compliant investments
making up 50% of the total Dana Pemacu capital commitment of US$1.28 billion (RM6 billion)
Anwar was speaking at the Global Forum on Islamic Economics and Finance in Kuala Lumpur
Dana Pemacu will be a Malaysia-focused private equity investment strategy
targeting key economic sectors including food security
and other impact-related critical themes under the Ekonomi MADANI framework
Dana Pemacu will be executed through Separately Managed Account (SMA) funds in partnership between local talent and top international investment managers across three different asset classes: Private Equity
and Real Estate with four funds in each asset class for a total of 12 funds to be created
KWAP said all 12 funds will be Malaysia-focused as the majority of the investments will be in Malaysia
However the funds would also be allowed to look outside Malaysia for investment opportunities
“The launch of Dana Pemacu by KWAP is in line with the broader reform by the Government to optimise GLIC institutional funds to spur investments into high growth Malaysian companies
contributing to initiatives which Raise the Ceiling under the Economy MADANI framework
Dana Pemacu’s approach of partnership with domestic and international investment managers will help strengthen Malaysia’s private markets ecosystem,” said Minister of Finance II Amir Hamzah Azizan
The RM6 billion capital commitment will be invested via conventional and Shariah- compliant SMAs
unlocking the potential of Islamic equity capital in creating a greater impact in Shariah-compliant investment and enhancing the overall private markets
as well as offering unique opportunities for ethical and socially responsible investing
“We believe that Dana Pemacu is instrumental for the growth and progress of the nation
Our plan is to deploy this investment through the creation of partnership models between local talent and international fund managers
which will serve to catalyse the private market investment ecosystem in Malaysia
this initiative will bring global best practices and expertise to the local market as well as driving knowledge-transfer and industry network.”
Nik added that the newly launched capital investment boosts KWAP’s aspirations to support more local companies to scale domestically and internationally through both conventional and Shariah-compliant channels
“This ultimately strengthens financial markets and enhances local talent development in Malaysia.”
KWAP chief investment officer spoke of the strong market response to Dana Pemacu with over 40 investment proposals received from global General Partners (GPs)
While declining to share the names he expected some announcements around Aug/Sept
The majority of the GPs are said to be interested in Shariah investments
The move also supports Malaysia’s pursuit of transforming its industrial sector to be more competitive
and inclusive under the NIMP 2030 plan of the MADANI Economy
through financing projects related to private equity
With Dana Pemacu as an investment strategy
KWAP said it continues to strive for optimal returns for the fund to assist the Government in financing its pension liabilities

rugby was at the centre of Ed O’Keeffe’s world from the start
O’Keeffe couldn’t help but smile when he recently read Moyross man Keith Earls recounting how he would jump the back wall of Munster’s home ground as a kid
“Keith would have been a massive inspiration coming from a similar area to me and living around the corner
just watching how he pushed on and how good a person he is
it’s great for all the young lads in the area.”
moving through St Nessan’s Community College into St Munchin’s
then via Young Munster in the AIL into the Connacht academy
A stint in New Zealand followed before O’Keeffe spent last season playing for Italian club Viadana
Now, he finds himself in Ireland’s rugby league squad ahead of the kick off the Rugby League European Championship this afternoon with a home clash against Scotland at Morton Stadium in Santry [KO 2pm, streamed on YouTube]
O’Keeffe jokes that “it’s a bit of a career change” but the 13-player code is not completely new to him
The 23-year-old recalls his family’s next-door neighbour in Ballynanty being an avid league fan and joining him to watch Wigan and Leeds tearing it up in the Super League
his club side during his time with Connacht
Brown sent O’Keeffe’s clips around to Super League clubs after he finished with Connacht and there was some interest
but O’Keeffe eventually decided to take up the offer in Viadana and stay in rugby union
when O’Keeffe returned to Ireland after the Italian season
he got involved in the summer domestic league programme
initially hoping to stay fit and match-sharp before realising he enjoyed the other code
He also had a stint with Leigh Centurions in the Championship
as he got to grips with the different demands in league
it’s so quick’ but until you actually play it
you don’t realise how quick it actually is and how fit you have to be for it,” says O’Keeffe
then you can start dropping but when you’re playing union
“But the speed work and stepping a defender one-on-one is your bread and butter in league
There’s a massive emphasis on pure speed work
whereas when I was younger in union there was a massive emphasis on putting on size and weight.”
O’Keeffe is far from the first union player to move into league in Ireland and the current squad includes several others who have switched codes
while Connacht fans will recognise Api Pewhairangi – now back in league with the London Broncos
Limerick man O’Keeffe was well-suited to rugby from the off
Nessan’s before he took a punt by moving to St
where he ended up playing three years of Senior Cup rugby
O’Keeffe debuted for club side Young Munster fresh out of school and straight in at the deep end
“My first game was out in Clontarf and you had Mick McGrath running down your channel; it’s not too pleasant as an 18-year-old kid
I think I just jumped on his back and tried to bring him down.”
He joined Connacht’s academy in 2015 and spent two seasons with the province
playing in the British and Irish Cup but never getting an opportunity to debut at senior level
“Looking back you always think you might have deserved a better chance but it is what it is,” says O’Keeffe
who I would have known from back home in Limerick
and Nigel Carolan was great to me on a personal level
Cian Romaine and Ciaran Gaffney in heading to New Zealand after his time in Connacht ended
pitching up in the farming area of Oamaru on the South Island
“out in the sticks but with great people.”
Heading for New Zealand meant leaving behind the Ireland Sevens squad
but O’Keeffe wanted to get away and experience something different
“I was working on a farm from 7am to 7pm every day there
going directly to training,” he says of his time there
“It was tough but it was a different side so I think I’ll appreciate it even more if a contract does come on the table
You appreciate what people do outside rugby day to day.”
Next on the journey was his season in Italy with Viadana
where O’Keeffe played 17 or 18 first-team games and scored some excellent tries
as well as enjoying the food and lifestyle
league is his focus and he hopes to help Ireland to achieve World Cup qualification over the next three weeks against Scotland
The top two nations in the European Championship will qualify for the 2021 World Cup in England
while the bottom two go into next year’s European qualifying tournament
If the experience is to lead onto a professional opportunity in England
O’Keeffe will do what he’s done many times before – grab it with both hands
the dream is to play for one of the provinces but when somebody says to you that you have a chance to represent your country
the chance to pull on that green jersey is something you don’t think twice about doing
“To stand there and sing the national anthem
that will be a great occasion for my family too
Everyone is looking for the same thing and if it’s in league
Rugby is a short career and I don’t want to be looking back in 10 years’ time thinking

“God spared my life for a reason,” this is what Donald Trump said while speaking about the assassination attempt in July
‘The Rock’ thinks that it was Trump’s bravery that saved him
The relationship between Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Donald Trump has been complex
Their relationship has fluctuated over the years but surprisingly
the Hollywood star changed the dynamic by doing something unique
This was after the POTUS experienced an attempted assassination in July
the former WWE wrestler turned Hollywood superstar had reached out to Dana White for Trump’s number
This was to enquire about the president-elect’s health post the 13th July shooting incident
when Trump attended WWE legend ‘The Undertaker’s podcast before the election
“Rock called Dana and said ‘I want to have his number
What he did is incredible.’ He considered it bravery
what’s going on here?’ But it was very nice
the Moana and Fast & Furious actor lauded the president for his bravery after the attempted assassination
The Rock reached out to Dana White to get Donald Trump’s number after Trump was shot at during a rally in Butler
Trump states that Rock considered what he did is “sort of incredible…he considered it bravery.” pic.twitter.com/1XfN5HGRbr
— Wrestle Ops (@WrestleOps) October 21, 2024
Trump was nearly shot at a Butler Pennsylvania rally in July when a bullet grazed his ear as the Secret Service saved him
he might have expected Dana White to call him and ask about his safety but did not think that ‘The Rock’ would also be concerned
Trump expressed the same in the podcast and said
and I felt bad because I think he’s a terrific guy.”
The assassination attempt moved many for the 78-year-old including Dana White and American Journalist Megyn Marie Kelly who criticized what happened
White took to his Instagram to share a story supporting the journalist and the former POTUS
Dana White agreed to what she said and even tagged the journalist in his caption. He wrote, “This could not be said any better.” The assassination attempt was a shocker and he received messages from people all around the world. Even UFC icon Conor McGregor and tech Mogul Elon Musk joined in and sent messages for the 78-year-old.
What’s your perspective on:Did 'The Rock' surprise you by praising Trump's bravery after the assassination attempt?
Trump was seen with an injured ear that was bleeding profusely and he even waved to fans in that moment to let them know that he was fine. After that, his son Trump Jr. gave an update to fans to assure them that their presidential candidate was healthy and thriving. So ‘The Rock’s’ verdict of POTUS being brave is not entirely wrong.
Four months removed from the incident, Trump is the new president-elect for a second term after a huge win for the republican candidate, even securing the swing states. So the hurdles he faced were not in vain, and Dana White was ecstatic, and by his side during his victory speech.
