Philippine celebrity-players and members of the Guam Nurses' Association pose for a shot at a press conference for the Celebrity Shoot-Out 2009 at the Hilton Guam Resort and Spa yesterday
A contingent of celebrities from the Guam’s neighboring the Philippines will compete in two games against local all stars to assist in typhoon relief for our friends to the west
The Celebrity Shootout 2009 will take place at the Father Duenas Memorial School Phoenix Center today and tomorrow
and features a host of Filipino male models
soccer athletes and former professional basketball players
Signed on for the event are models John Hall
Paolo Cabalfin; chefs Anton Abad and Tristan Encarnacion; soccer player Ali Borromeo and former professional basketball players Harlan Yu and Rean Villasor
Certified and licensed Philippine Basketball Association agent Charlie Dy is also on hand to coach the team
Proceeds from the shootout will to towards the Philippine Typhoon Relief Fund
which offers assistance to those hit hardest by the nation’s string of typhoons earlier this year
During a press conference yesterday at the Hilton Guam Resort and Spa’s Tree Bar
Hall told the Variety he was happy to come out and do what he does naturally for a good cause
“Where we are in the Philippines we play a lot of basketball,” he said
“For us to be able to come out and do what we love is great
because (after the typhoons) it was bad there.” Hall added that he hoped the local community would turn out to support the cause as well
Local players will include a veritable who’s who of Guam’s finest
the MVP Stars – led by Coach John Pangelinan – and the Bud Kings PABL All-stars
Head Coach Joseph Sebastian will also lead the Micronesian All-Stars during the event
most of the competitors had never been to Guam
and many raved about the island’s natural beauty
confessing though that they were anxious to take advantage of some Thanksgiving Day sales at local retailers

 Since the beginning of “The New 52” DC Universe
a lot of changes have occurred in the DC Continuity that can be constituted as an almost total reboot to attract new readers to the comic book world and its superheroes
Obvious examples would be the formation of a new Justice League team and entirely new origin story to boot
as well as the inclusion of former Teen Titans mainstay Cyborg/Victor Stone into the main line-up
Following the release of Justice League #1
with several characters like Superman and Wonder Woman getting updated backgrounds (the aforementioned characters become a power couple later on)
certain characters like Batman and Green Lantern have taken a “semi-reboot” approach and retain some of their story elements from the pre-New 52 Universe even as they conform to the new world’s setup
"The New 52 Universe" is still evolving (thanks to editorial changes and hot topics happening behind the scenes as well)
but there’s a firmly-established line-up of heroes and villains
and after the events of “Trinity War."  
But that in itself is a seven-issue series and a story for another time
it will be a challenging time for the heroes of the DCU
