Sandals Resorts International (SRI) today announces its acceleration of plans to expand the family-friendly Beaches Resorts brand with the development of Beaches Exuma
To make this new resort possible and as part of a coordinated growth plan across the Sandals and Beaches Resorts portfolio
Sandals Emerald Bay will close on August 15
and undergo a transformation that is anticipated to begin in Fall 2024 before reopening as the new Beaches Exuma
"Exuma was made for families and with more than 6,000 feet of shoreline
the new Beaches Exuma will be a gateway to discovering the incomparable beauty of this part of The Bahamas," stated Adam Stewart
Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts International
"At the core of every great family vacation is the creation of memories so magical they last a lifetime
I've cherished every moment I've spent together with my family along the lively shores of Exuma
where my own children have grown up among one of nature's most inspiring playgrounds — from swimming pigs
sandbars and so much more," Stewart continued
Originally developed as a family-oriented resort when it opened over two decades ago
the existing Sandals property maintains an ideal layout of beaches
and areas for family-oriented play spaces and amenities across its expansive oceanfront acreage
Exuma is also a natural wonder renowned for its marine ecosystems and sea life
and beaches offering expansive white sandbars for exploration
The transformation will bring the full breadth of the Beaches Resorts experiences and amenities that families have come to love
The new Beaches Exuma will include an evolved configuration of rooms with multi-bedroom villas
as well as undergo upgrades to its 12 restaurants and culinary offerings
while tapping into entirely new adventure opportunities for families
the new Beaches Exuma will offer a premier experience while also retaining beloved amenities such as the full-service Red Lane Spa and access to the Greg Norman designed 18-hole Emerald Bay golf course
The Bahamas' Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism and Aviation
welcomed the expansion and said he is greatly anticipating the redevelopment of the property
"Sandals has been a trusted partner with The Bahamas for many years," said Cooper
who is also from Exuma and is the parliamentary representative for the area
"As we saw with the redevelopment of Sandals Royal Bahamian on New Providence nearly three years ago
when they invest in a property it flourishes
which will be an expanded endeavor that caters to more visitors and employs more Bahamians
Exuma is my home and I'll be with her every step of this journey," Cooper added
This rebranding is part of a strategic plan for the Sandals Resorts International organization to significantly expand its footprint across the Caribbean
including recently welcoming Sandals Dunn's River in Jamaica
and Sandals Royal Curaçao into its family of resorts
alongside expansions and upgrades to several other resorts throughout the Caribbean
provide a wide variety of new opportunities to experience the brand's true all-inclusive hospitality
Valued guests with affected reservations at Sandals Emerald Bay are being contacted and provided with a variety of options for rebooking at another Sandals Resorts destination along with several special benefits

The Caribbean island of Jamaica is only about a 2-hour flight from Miami International Airport (MIA)
There are 3 international airports on the island to choose from, all of which are serviced by the major U.S. airlines in addition to Frontier, Southwest, and Spirit:
Jamaica is much more than an island with nice weather and beautiful beaches
There are plenty of historical and cultural facts that enrich a vacation to the island
One of Jamaica’s claims to fame is the fact that Ian Fleming
wrote the entire series while on the island
drivers drive on the left side of the road
Keep this in mind if you choose to rent a car while visiting
And Jamaica produces plenty of high-end exports
And thanks to the difficulty of harvesting its high-altitude coffee beans
Blue Mountain Coffee is one the rarest and most expensive coffees in the world
the most popular cities to visit on vacation in Jamaica are Negril
For those looking for a city vacation in Jamaica, Kingston is the place to be. A third of the island’s population lives in the capital, and it’s also home to the Bob Marley Museum and Emancipation Park
It’s a big city on the country’s southeast coast that’s framed beautifully by the Blue Mountains in the background
If you’re looking for a beach vacation — which is what most people are after when coming to Jamaica — you’ll want to consider Negril
Negril is popular for its laid-back vibe and famous Seven Mile Beach. It’s also home to Rick’s Cafe
where people are known to jump from the restaurant’s nearby cliff
Negril is a honeymoon destination thanks to several adult-only resorts that take advantage of the quiet that’s more common on this side of the island

Ocho Rios and Montego Bay are only about 90 minutes away from each other by car
Lots of travelers take excursions that are available in one city while staying in the other
The Rose Hall area is named for the famed Rose Hall house and sits between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios
The house was formerly owned by Haitian voodoo practitioner Anne Palmer and is said to be the most haunted attraction on the island
there are more than spooky adventures to be had in Jamaica
Watersports and outdoor activities are popular things to do when on vacation in Jamaica
A lot of all-inclusive resorts will offer non-motorized sports as an included amenity
