Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) AGANO will be deployed to the Maizuru Naval Base of the JMSDF The vessel is named after the Agano River (あがの 阿賀野川 Agano-gawa) a river in the Hokuriku region of Honshu It is also called the Aga River or the Ōkawa River in Fukushima All ships of the class are named after famous rivers in Japan Agano was launched by MHI in Nagasaki in December 2022 The FFM (also known as 30FFM and previously known as 30DX) is the next generation multi-mission frigate designed for the JMSDF A total number of 22 Frigates are expected to be procured for the JMSDF the FFM multi-mission frigate will have a full load displacement of about 5,500 tons with a length of 132.5 meters and a beam of 16.3 meters It will have a maximum speed in excess of 30 knots indicating a high level of automation on board The FFM will be equipped with a wide variety of weapons and systems as listed below The JMSDF had originally planned to build a total of 22 Mogami-class frigates as Tokyo ramps up efforts to strengthen the country’s naval forces it has decided to now procure a total of only 12 such frigates until the fiscal year 2023 with plans to acquire a new class of 12 FFMs from 2024 until 2028 The new frigates will essentially be improved Mogami-class ships that are set to be built to the design proposed by MHI As previously reported by Naval News the new-class FFM will be fitted with longer-range missiles and improved capabilities for various maritime operations improved version of the Type 12 SSM and the new ship-to-air guided missile (or simply A-SAM) will be equipped with the new-class FFM With better anti-aircraft and search capabilities the new FFM may become closer to an FFG (missile frigate) Australia Lists Mogami Class as 1 of 4 Contenders for Its Next Frigate As part of strengthening the Royal Australian Navy’s surface combat fleet capability, Australia listed the Mogami-class frigate of the JMSDF as one of the four candidates for the navy’s next frigate with the other three vessels being Germany’s Meko A-200 South Korea’s Daegu class FFX Batch II and III In response, Admiral Sakai Ryo, chief of staff of the JMSDF, praised this move. “We believe that Australia has picked frigates from these countries based on its own information The fact that the Mogami class was selected as a candidate is a sign of the high level of trust and evaluation of Japanese equipment,” Sakai said at a press conference on 6 March adding “the JMSDF intends to actively exchange opinions with the Royal Australian Navy.” Naval News brings you news coverage of the latest naval I am coming to represent the women, the youth and those abled differently. We are the new leaders that the Kenyans have been waiting for,” she said. This entry remains in the Atlas as a record of its history, but it is no longer accessible to visitors. In 1993, Niigata Russian Village was opened to encourage relations between Japan and Russia. It was subsequently closed and opened again after renovations in 2002. It was then open for only six months before lack of visitors forced it to close yet again. Now after over 8 years of being abandoned the park is an amazing sight. The park includes a large cathedral, hotel (which has sustained a great deal of fire damage), multiple theaters, restaurants, and even a golf course. No doubt the most amazing and curious part of the abandoned structure is the woolly mammoth (fake) taxidermy and skeleton that were left behind in the now empty Russian Village. Update: As of July 2016 the park is mostly demolished. Off of route 290 in Suibara, look for the old sign. Go behind the gate and walk up the hill to find the park. Once in a state of dilapidation, this candy-inspired fortress is now being revived. This disastrous New Jersey safari park saw animal attacks, escapes, and disease before being abandoned. This abandoned amusement park was built on a site with a dark history. A theme park that suffered massive flooding during Katrina was abandoned, and now proves irresistible to trespassing explorers. The once abandoned ruins of a Victorian beachside amusement park are now back in working order. A nearly century-old amusement park is quietly decaying in a riverside forest in South Carolina. This western-themed amusement park is host to a large number of decaying animatronic cowboys. A quaint amusement park now sits, rusting and forgotten among the foliage. Agano Party presidential candidate David Mwaure Waihiga. | FILE Dubbed 'Badilisha', English for 'Change', Agano’s manifesto makes the proposition of starting from a clean slate and is anchored on 12 Aganos (pledges). These are: Agano to the constitution, the Family, Women, Youth, Persons Living with Disability, County Governments, Workers, Business Owners, the Economy, Religious Institutions, the Environment, as well as Agano to the International Community Should he and his running mate, Ruth Mutua, ascend to power in August, David Mwaure has pledged to increase revenue allocation to counties to 40%, designate 10% of the 40% to go directly to the Village councils. Mr. Mwaure intends to convene a taskforce to study the possibilities of dissolving Nairobi County after this election so that post-2027, Nairobi governor be an appointee of the president after elections and an automatic member of the cabinet. In his plan for Kenyan workers, he has pledged a general waiver of 50% PAYE, as well as a conducive environment for the private sector, individuals, and others to set up businesses in a bid to boost entrepreneurship. The biting economic state is also in his manifesto, and the spirant plans to move the Asset Recovery Agency to the Presidency, devolve budgeting to the Village Councils as opposed to the Treasury or State House Budget office, and go after the ‘big fish’ of corruption and ensure they are subjected to the due process of the law. Mwaure further intends to create a legal framework that will ensure Public Sector Audit General reports are prima facie evidence in abuse of office and misappropriation of funds. “We will ensure the Ksh. 15 trillion stolen and stashed abroad is returned to Kenya in consultation with all the concerned countries where these funds are,” promised Mr. Mwaure. His government will also limit the total loan repayments by the government to Ksh.1 trillion.  “This will immediately release Kshs.350B to support government programs. We will urgently call for a meeting with our lenders to arrive at a fresh repayment plan to ensure the country does not fall into debt distress,” he said. Additionally, all contracts with foreign entities starting with SGR, Nairobi Expressway, Mombasa, Lamu, Naivasha and Kisumu ports will be made public under his administration. The Agano government has also promised to create an office for the Registrar of Families and use the data collected for the Huduma Number to refocus government planning to be family-centred. Mr. Mwaure will ensure that each registered family has at least one person who is employed and roll out the Universal Healthcare Coverage program based on disease and demography. Priority will be given to cancer, accident victims and all forms of medical/non-elective surgery. He has further promised to waive medical bills for any person who dies in a government hospital. Furthermore, old persons above 70 years will get access to free medical services. In a bid to enhance the security of the country, Mr. Mwaure’s administration intends to equip the security sector and make it “a place of pride to serve.” They also will introduce community policing starting from the village council level. Similarly, Mr. Mwaure has promised to implement the 2/3 gender rule in all appointive positions and enhance access to government procurement opportunities (AGPO) reservation to youth, women and people living with disability quota to 40 percent. Under their pledge to business owners, his administration has promised to verify all County and National government pending bills and convert them to government bonds.  “Local content bill will be enforced to ensure that all tenders below Ksh. 1 billion are exclusively awarded to local companies,” said Mwaure. © 2025 Citizen Digital.
