Directed by Mitsuhito Shihara86 minutesJapanese film with English subtitles
is given a briefing on school lunch program basics by Tateyama
Nana struggles to provide delicious school lunches to the children while dealing with various issues such as tight budgets
children’s rating of the school lunches declines
going down from “it was delicious” to “the taste has changed,” or “the taste has deteriorated.” Nana is shocked
but the other nutritionists and cooks comfort her
saying that this is a common occurrence and that children are just being cranky
Nana asks the students directly what they thought of the school lunch
Nana then decides that even if there are some food items that the children do not like
she must try to create a menu that brings the best out of the available ingredients
Will Nana succeed in producing school lunches accepted by the children
and Nana’s very first graduation ceremony arrives
What thoughts will the children have to share with Nana and other school lunch teachers

What people wore to the Student Collections Runway in Melbourne
Photo Diary: How Par Moi designer Ashiya Omundsen prepares..
Solari Studio’s boutique is a hub for Melbourne’s emerging creative scene
behind the scenes can be a rather different affair
With her new collection debuting on the Volvo Electric Runway tonight (we’ll be there
as an official M/FW media partner and big fans of Ashiya’s work)
we were curious to get a glimpse into her process
My first step in the design process is always looking at fabric
so I usually keep a bunch of ideas in my head while I’m hunting for fabrics or I’ll see a certain fabric that will give me an idea
so it’s good to approach it with mostly loose ideas because I never know what will be available
The next step is where what’s in my head starts transferring onto paper
I do this in my home studio with cardboard
pencil and scissors… serious tools 😉
I make a first toile (an early version of a finished garment
usually made up in calico fabric so the design can be tested)
I usually use studio remnants that are similar to the final fabric for this
so the fall and look of the toile will be as similar as possible to the final piece
I then check the fit and make any necessary adjustments to the pattern
Sometimes multiple toiles are made before the pattern is ready for the final sample
it’s time to cut the design in the final fabric and sew it into the final sample
toiles and samples for the next ideas until I have my 10 looks ready for the show
I do all of this myself from my home studio in Brunswick
Now everything is ready, it’s time to fit and shoot all the new pieces with a model to use for the online store
This also lets me put the looks together as I would style them
Karinda – although she will likely put the looks together differently
I had some accessories I wanted to try to add to my looks
I’m doing a bit with hardware in this collection
so decided to work some of the same ideas into a few accessory pieces
I grade and make the sizes required for the different models in the show
Time to hand over all my pieces to the M/FW collections team
Now it’s in the trusty hands of Karinda
to put the final touches on each look and fit everything with the models

An interview with Ryosuke Takashima ’19-’22 in this article was translated from Japanese by Crimson News editor Ayumi Nagatomi ’26
Following a decisive win in a unified local election on April 23
Harvard College alum Ryosuke Takashima ’19-’22 became the youngest mayor in Japanese history
assumed the mayoral seat for the city of Ashiya in Hyogo Prefecture
one incumbent and two with prior experience in city government
Takashima lived in Eliot House and concentrated in Environmental Engineering with a secondary in Environmental Science and Public Policy
while exploring various ways to engage in politics
He also worked as a Multimedia editor for The Crimson and as director of multimedia for the Harvard Project for Asian and International Relations
“Harvard is a university that nurtures leaders of society,” Takashima said in an interview with The Crimson last week
“I was always thinking about how I could give back to society what I had learned.”
Takashima said he did not plan to run for office right after graduating from the College
It is uncommon for young politicians to win elected office in Japan
with the average age of mayors elected this cycle at 59 years old
The minimum age to hold office in Japan is 25
“It just so happened that the timing was right after graduation,” Takashima said
“When I saw that the current situation in Ashiya was very bad
Takashima described Ashiya — home to 93,000 citizens — as a residential city just a little smaller than Cambridge
While Ashiya is known to be a wealthy city in Japan
it faces issues of an aging population and low birth rate
which are more pronounced than in nearby municipalities
Though more than 80 percent of couples in Ashiya report they want to have two or more children
the average number of children per household in the city remains at 1.3
Along with setting up an improved system for extended daycare
Takashima said he wants to implement free medical care for children
an initiative being pursued by an increasing number of municipalities
Harvard Undergraduate Association Co-President Shikoh Misu Hirabayashi ’24
who is from Japan and received mentorship from Takashima during the college application process
said he was pleasantly surprised by the election win
Hirabayashi said did not initially expect Takashima to win because older candidates are often perceived in Japan as more competent with “much more work experience and connections.”
“He was also fighting against an incumbent
but still had some sort of election voting base,” Hirabayashi said
Takashima said holding consistent dialogue with citizens was key to his win
he organized public forums across the city and distributed a booklet containing his policy proposals to households in Ashiya
“Many people understood that although I am young
I have a good understanding of the current situation and am trying to make effective policies,” Takashima said
who attended the same middle school and high school as Takashima
called the newly elected mayor a “local leader.” Yanaizu said he remembered how Takashima organized a volunteer group during high school for a summer festival held in Ashiya
“He cares a lot about the community he is in,” Yanaizu said
“I think he genuinely likes Ashiya as a city and is committed to making Ashiya a better place
Takashima said he has always been interested in city-level politics
his hometown drastically changed after the election of a new and younger mayor
“I thought that the city government has a great deal of influence and is very closely connected to the lives of the citizens,” Takashima said
Takashima also took multiple gap years during his time at the College
giving him the opportunity to travel the world and speak with local officials and citizens about urban planning
Takashima enrolled in a Harvard Kennedy School workshop called
I’m Running for Office,” which helped him learn more about participating in politics
Each session focused on different aspects of running for office and governing
I learned how to raise money and how I should work on my policies after taking office,” Takashima said
I was glad to meet many people who were thinking of running for office in the future.”
remembered Takashima’s participation in events related to politics
like a Public Narrative event hosted at the house and led by organizer and HKS lecturer Marshall L
I can see he was looking for opportunities to develop these sorts of political skills,” Paulsell said
Hirabayashi said he hopes Takashima’s victory can inspire the younger generation
even as Japan has struggled with civic participation in politics in recent years
“I really wanted him to set a precedent for other young people to also run for politics
but also to become interested in politics,” he said
A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that more than 80 percent of couples in Japan report they want to have two or more children

Hyogo Prefecture--It is known as the “park with a monkey cage,” except it doesn’t have one anymore
Uchide Koen park here used to have a monkey house that featured in Haruki Murakami’s debut novel
which measured 4 meters wide and 5 meters long
was eventually dismantled after all the animals it had housed died
Bits of the enclosure were used for a monument set up in the space
is located about 150 meters north of Hanshin Uchide Station
it was preserved at the request of residents because it appeared in Murakami’s 1979 novel
the park became a pilgrimage site for avid fans of the 75-year-old author
a professor of Japanese culture at Kobe International University who has translated Murakami’s books into Chinese
recalled visiting the park before the COVID-19 pandemic with a Chinese magazine editor on a business trip to Japan and a Danish translator of the writer’s works
With playground equipment falling into disrepair
the cage was removed during repair work that began in July last year
It was replaced by a new monument measuring about 90 centimeters wide and standing 1.9 meters tall
The monument featuring a silhouette of a monkey reads
“It is also famous for being featured in a scene in Haruki Murakami’s debut novel ‘Hear the Wind Sing.’”
A QR code displayed on the monument can be scanned with a smartphone to access a website on the park’s history
a member of private research group Nishinomiya-Ashiya Kenkyujo who is well-versed in Murakami’s works and the history of the area
took note of a signboard newly set up at the entrance that reads
“I initially thought the cage should be preserved
but when I looked at the signboard and the monument
I realized it would be easier for visitors to realize that it served as a locale for his work,” he said
Mao added: “I left feeling it is a good park that has gone to great effort to ensure Murakami’s novel is passed down to future generations
I hope foreign tourists who are also Murakami’s fans will visit the park.”

to the point that his three-turn buffs nearly match Merlin’s Burst turn buffs in damage ampage
and with his Bond CE he surpasses Merlin handily (at least offensively and in a relatively short window)
Limbo’s lack of targeted batteries or strong survival tools hinder his supportive value
but for certain Servants and team comps he can be highly valuable
especially if you have an MLB Kaleid to offset his lack of batteries or a Poster Girl to get him off the field quickly
Increase your Arts Card effectiveness by 8%
Increase amount of NP Gained when attacked by 20%
Limbo’s stats aren’t as silly good as Kingprotea’s
but he still has pretty high attack and he doesn’t suffer much of an HP penalty in exchange
It’s a good stat spread for an offense-oriented Servant
really—it’s hard to complain about a DPS who breaks 12k attack
with high enough hit-counts to drop a lot of stars
and a pair of excellent Arts cards that get boosted further by Territory Creation
Limbo has a huge battery on one of his skills
but fortunately Limbo avoids that usual drawback
He won’t have any trouble getting access to his NP in CQ contexts
In addition to the aforementioned Territory Creation
he has Item Construction to make his debuffs a little more reliable
along with Magic Resistance and its usual benefits
He also has a unique Divinity variant that’s mostly flavor—it adds a tiny bit of damage and it also boosts Limbo’s IK success rate
which has the potential to be valuable in specific farming nodes but otherwise matters little
which increases Limbo’s defensive NP gain—a minor benefit
The theme of Limbo’s skillset is “loaded skills on long cooldowns.” Recommended skill order is 3>2>1
Ridicule Cat brings a whopping five different AoE debuffs all at once: attack down
the defense down is the only one of these that really matters—Limbo lends himself so dramatically towards fastplay that a simple 20% attack down (especially with no way to protect against crits) might as well not even exist; Terror is a decent but highly unreliable bit of survival that can actually get in the way if you happen to
want defensive NP gain; Confusion is typically a non-factor at best and outright harmful at worst
since skill seal can force an enemy to swing at you three times instead of wasting an action on a mostly-harmless skill; and Curse is Damage-Over-Time is mostly worthless in FGO outside of certain gimmick teams and fights
30% AoE defense down for 3 turns is nice to have in CQs especially
and in farming contexts it can let you push damage on a single wave
It’s also worth noting that this skill does provide two mental debuffs
which means it amps Summer Kiara’s damage considerably (although she doesn’t fully benefit from Limbo’s other skills)
it really just boils down to: “helps push damage.”
It starts off as a 3k guts that can proc twice
The guts gives Limbo a lot of personal bulk and can make him an attractive Poster Girl carrier
as he effectively guarantees you three turns of protection at that point while also being able to leverage Poster Girl’s huge attack buff
The disadvantage of this is that the double-guts means he’s a lot less likely to die off if you’re running Limbo in a supportive capacity and are counting on being able to bring in another support once he’s done
as the crit amp gets a little washed out with Skadi
but Arts Servants with crit access and especially Buster Servants benefit a ton from the sustained crit amp
especially since their favored supports are generally weaker in the “sustained crit buffs” department
The biggest weakness (insofar as it is one in practical contexts) for Arts Servants is that they lack the damage “stretch” Quick Servants do on their cards
Limbo’s buffs let Chaotic Evil Arts Servants like Salieri
and Vlad push their damage against a single target much higher in CQ contexts
and Summer BB—become less tethered to Hero Creation’s burst turn for big damage output
Buster Servants are also less concerned with looping in general
so they have a little more freedom to run Limbo instead of
That isn’t to say this makes Limbo a better choice than his competition for supporting Chaotic Evil Servants
but rather that he’s an interesting option and can provide some unique value
Douman’s Curse is a whopping 80% self-battery
It just so happens that Limbo gets roughly 20% refund off his NP with just two Skadis
which means this battery gives Limbo a loop that’s effectively “free,” provided he’s able to sacrifice the attached steroids on wave/turn 1
Limbo’s NP refund is not good enough for him to run Black Grail for loop farming
the battery happens to be more-or-less exactly what he needs for a single loop
The skill also buffs Chaotic and Evil allies’ attack by 20% each (so
Pretty much everything I said with regards to Limbo as a support under the Dark Fate skill applies here as well—Limbo’s lack of batteries and defensive tools make him a weaker third support than Waver/Reines/Castoria
It’s worth noting that both Dark Fate and Douman’s Curse have 7-turn cooldowns at max level
he’s more-or-less dead in the water for a long time after
and he has little in the way of party protection
so he’s not the kind of Servant you want sticking around for a long time
<Overcharge> Apply Curse Damage Up (5 turns)
though between Limbo’s steroids going all-in on attack and him not having access to all of them every wave (depending on how you’ve planned out your strategy)
he’s… not going to hit especially hard on his own
He really needs double Skadi to be worthwhile
and even with two Skadis and a plug Reines you’re looking at a damage progression of something like 57k -> 73k -> 112k wave over wave at NP1 versus Cavalry
(The assumption here is that turn 1 you only have Reines’s attack buff and the Skadis’ Quick buffs; turn 2 you use Limbo’s battery; turn 3 you use all three defense debuffs and the Plugsuit’s attack buff)
using the defense debuffs or the Plugsuit buff earlier
he’ll be dependent on NP levels for reliable farming
and as an Alter Ego he’s not going to work well against non-cavalry nodes
this NP does give Limbo just enough refund with double Skadi to loop with just his own battery
which opens up things like the aforementioned Reines comp
and with Traces of Christmas he can loop with Jinako and Asclepius as well
which means his loop requirements aren’t as expensive as some other battery-dependent loopers
the NP inflicts another Curse and boosts Curse damage
so with all of his skills and one use of this NP Limbo’s dealing 7k turn-over-turn curse damage
That’s still not a ton in the grand scheme of things
but especially with NP looping Limbo does have easier access to more reasonable damage-over-time than do most Servants—which is to say
his curses are a little less of a gimmick than usual
Limbo’s use-cases are super straightforward
You run him in a battery loop setup with two Skadis and one of Waver/Reines/Castoria/Jinako/Asclepius and bring him to farm cavalry nodes
or you stick Black Grail on him and rely on card draws so you can loop clear CQs
or you bring him as a third support for a Chaotic Evil Servant
you’ll want to start Limbo with a CE that gives damage and 50% starting NP gauge
You’ll want to start with the third support
then plug that support out for your second Skadi
and then rely on batteries for the next two rounds
with the caveat that you’re using one of the Skadi batteries (or Limbo’s battery
if you’re feeling lucky and need the damage) on turn 1 and then relying on getting genning cards to bring Limbo to 50%
you’re more-or-less committing to winning fast
or at least to getting Limbo out of the way quickly
Limbo is pretty much dead weight once his buffs are gone
which actually makes his guts something of a liability
You can solve this problem in a couple of ways
the most effective being Poster Girl (especially against enemies with mega-high damage) or Chen Gong
Poster Girl can be particularly effective against an enemy with an ST NP
since you can more-or-less guarantee the first guts will proc on turn one
so long as you plug Limbo in when the target’s about to NP
Traces of Christmas specifically lets Limbo hit 30% refund with Jinako or Asclepius
pushing him into loop territory with their 20% batteries
your best option is generally going to be Poster Girl
Limbo’s Bond CE boosts Chaotic Evil allies’ NP damage by 30%
which solidifies Limbo as a better offensive buffer than Merlin
Limbo’s mixed use cases mean there’s not one specific set of command codes that jumps out as being especially valuable
Star gen command codes are nice on Limbo in that he really wants his team to crit
but he’s an AoE Quick Servant with good cards
star-weight-boosting command codes are nice for Limbo as a DPS
but they might get in the way of Limbo as a support
which increases a single card’s NP gain by 5%
and might be a good pick that works for all of Limbo’s use cases
the various command codes that remove specific buff types can be nice on Limbo
giving him a little extra utility as a support and a little more stability as a DPS
Grails will make Limbo a stronger DPS but in exchange will leave him more likely to stick around longer than you want him to as a support
The extra stats don’t “cleanly” benefit him
but not a necessary or uniquely powerful one
but he does need native Skadi and one of a handful of third supports to do it
and he’s limited to cavalry classes as well
Battery loopers are generally more reliable for 90+ nodes
but those nodes also tend to favor unorthodox teams in general
and if you have a deep bench already you can probably handle the various 90+ nodes that pop up with or without access to Limbo
he brings a ton of offensive firepower but very little in the way of defense
and he’s hampered by the long cooldowns on his skills
if you like him or get lucky on his banner
you can use him in ways that will make him feel strong
but he’s probably not a Servant to actively target if gameplay is the only draw

“It was really above and beyond our expectations.”
Ashiya and Andrew’s wedding was embellished with the personal touches of some close creative friends (and family)
Ashiya gives us an intimate glimpse into the day
We met almost 10 years ago at the Brunswick Hotel… which was (is?) a bit of an institution in Brisbane
but he must have made a lasting impression because when I ran into him a month or so later
we kind of started dating and never stopped
What venue did you choose for your wedding
Our goal was to keep things super low-key, stress-free and low-cost (inflation is real)
we just wanted to do the legal part and then have a little party
I honestly didn’t think about the venues that much and just went with the first idea that I felt would work
We had a small registry service at the Old Treasury Building with family in attendance followed by snacks and drinks in the Treasury Gardens where our friends joined the festivities
Later we moved on to the Rose Hotel in Fitzroy for canapés
and what was the process of sourcing it like
I made two dresses, one for the ceremony and one for the pub, which I finished the week before – very classic me behaviour. The shoes were a pair from Acne Studios that had been on my wishlist and I finished the look with a pair of earrings from Agmes, a bag from St Agni and a Tuxedo Blazer from Matteau (in case of a chilly evening)
I wanted the finishing touches to be pieces I would wear again and again after the day
Johnson for a wedding we attended in New York a few years back
he decided it would be frivolous to get a new one so wore that and had a new shirt made (also P
Johnson) and found a vintage Zegna tie he loved to go with it
I also made matching rosette broaches for his mother and him
tell us about the look you went for on the day
Did you do your own hair/makeup or hire someone
I had my hair done at my usual salon, Everyday on Sydney Road
I knew it was going to be a windy day so choose a simple slicked-back bun
I’m not a big makeup person and have never felt like myself when I’ve had it done by someone else so did that myself
keeping it mostly neutral with a strong lip
What did you do to celebrate after the wedding
We stayed in a suite at the Rydges in the city for the weekend of the wedding which was cute
Having been together for so long already we’ve been on a lot of holidays
so it didn’t seem urgent to take off on one
I think we’ll do a Euro summer this year
What kind of food and/or entertainment did you have on the day
Everything was such a group effort on the day
I had asked a few friends to help bring a few things to the park so we could all pop a few bottles right after the ceremony but they really took the reins and turned it into a full-scale event
It was really above and beyond our expectations
Spanish chips and an assortment of bite-size canapés
They loved organising it so much that they’re starting a side hustle (DM me if you want details)
We also had bubbles from another friend’s family winery – Rob Dolan Wines at the park
Andrew’s brother is a chef and food stylist
so was an obvious choice to make the cake – which was a bow-covered croquembouche
At The Rose, we were able to bring in our own finishing touches, so my sister Alex (@degoey_planet) made custom vases
She and another friend decorated the venue with those and an assortment of flowers we picked up at the markets

Ryosuke Takashima was elected mayor of Ashiya, Hyogo Prefecture
in the second half of the local elections on April 23
he became the youngest mayor ever in Japan.
A graduate of the elite preparatory school Nada Junior and Senior High School in Higashinada-ku, Kobe, he went on to study at Harvard University
his decision to run against the political big guns was deemed reckless
The three other candidates were incumbent Mai Ito
a former member of the prefectural assembly
and a former member of the municipal assembly.
his vote count was nearly double of Ito's.
and what do we know about the youngest mayor in Japanese history
"Many people told me that I was too young and being reckless," Takashima explained in an interview before the election
He added that he was fully aware that his youth could be a disadvantage in the political arena.
Takashima brought his youthfulness to the forefront of his campaign
he always disclosed his age when speaking on the streets
26 years old." He was following the wise counsel of his campaign supporters
One of them was Kunio Yamada, a fellow Nada High School alumnus and chairman of Rohto Pharmaceutical. Takashima recalls, "Chairman Yamada encouraged me by saying, 'During the Meiji Restoration
young people played an active role in ushering in the new era
I hope you will also do big things to bring change to Japan.'"
Ashiya has one of Japan's most exclusive residential areas and is home to many wealthy people. However, the city's population continues to decline
which has become a significant issue for the municipal government
is that "many Ashiya citizens chose to entrust their future to this outstanding young man."
When Takashima heard the news of his victory
I will do my best to live up to your expectations."
What kind of person is Takashima? Kenji Yamada, who gave pointers for his campaign, is a local Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) member of the House of Representatives and State Minister for Foreign Affairs
"[Takashima] is not just a member of the elite," Yamada explains
"He is a young man who shows his human side and charisma that will make anyone who meets him immediately like him and become a fan."
Takashima was born in February 1997 in Minoh City, Osaka
he was a shy kindergartener who struggled to make friends
"I tried to praise him to build his confidence," she said.
"I praised him for even the smallest things
like greeting a friend's mother or properly lining up his shoes," she added
Takashima grew into an optimistic child who openly shared his ideas as he achieved little victories
the Takashimas regularly held family meetings
The most memorable family meeting was when they were brainstorming names for Takashima's second brother.
"My eldest two were named 'Ryosuke' and 'Shusuke,' so I was thinking 'Shosuke'
But 8-year-old Ryosuke pointed out that the names combined would make the word 'ryoshusho' [receipt] and suggested 'Jyosuke' instead."
they chose this name for his newborn brother
Another interesting chapter from Takashima's life is from his time in Nada Junior and Senior High School
His classmates used to fight over Takashima's notes
which were well-organized and neatly written
The notes even documented the teachers' small talk
This earned him the nickname "the god of notes."
Takashima also played scrum-half for the rugby club and was the president of the student council
He recalls how organizing a choral competition as a member of the student council taught him valuable leadership skills
"We had a disagreement with the teacher over how the singers should enter and exit the stage
the teacher said that the class that finished singing should leave as the next class entered
so we insisted on keeping the timing of entry and exit separate
During the rehearsal on the day before the event
the student council agreed to go through with what they thought was right
The competition finish on time and it was also a huge success
"The best way for everyone to enjoy an event is to do it the way they want to," Takashima explains
people won't be convinced." It was during this time that he started thinking about the qualities that make a good leader.
During his time as the school council president
Takashima organized events and participated in festivals in Ashiya City
This connection was what would eventually lead him to run for mayor of Ashiya.
he was accepted to the University of Tokyo and Harvard University
He first enrolled in the University of Tokyo but left in September for Harvard.
"Our professors often gave us reading assignments of 100 pages
and my English at the time wasn't good enough
thanks to my classmates who offered to help."
Takashima learned the importance of asking for help rather than trying to do everything himself.
He majored in environmental engineering at Harvard and conducted research at renewable energy installations across the world
He hopes to introduce these cutting-edge technologies to Ashiya
paved the way for Takashima to become the youngest mayor in Japanese history
