The Romanian footballer got injured in the derby against Celtic
and the Scottish press writes that he will not play for the rest of this season
this will most likely be Ianis's last match in the Rangers shirt
"As his contract expires at the end of this season
it seems unlikely that Hagi will play in any of the three meaningless matches that his team
The Romanian midfielder seems to have twisted his knee in a simulation for a penalty, and after receiving treatment on the field and appearing to recover, he quickly headed to the dressing room, almost certainly putting an end to his career at Ibrox," wrote Videocelts.com

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Ref Watch
“I just think it’s a reaction of two players reaching for the ball
The decision was one of few talking points in what was a largely uneventful match
every penalty claim is heavily scrutinised
That’s been three derby games now on the trot that the talking points in the days after the match haven’t centred around a poor decision from VAR
Gallagher’s view reinforces the notion that both McGregor and Hagi had a right to go for the ball
with the Celtic captain simply using his body well to shield it
With VAR protocols in place and no evidence of a clear and obvious error
the officials stuck with the on-pitch decision
and Gallagher sees no reason why they should have done otherwise

Ianis Hagi (26 years old) receives excellent news in Scotland
is finishing his contract with Rangers this summer and can sign freely with any team he desires
the coach with whom Rangers won the title in the 2020/2021 season
is highly likely to return to the team in the summer
after the Scottish club is taken over by American investors planning a capital injection
British journalists claim that Gerrard's return
the coach under whom Ianis performed at his best
could convince both parties regarding the contract extension
but undoubtedly he played his best football under Gerrard at Rangers
His return could convince both the club and the player to continue their collaboration," writes footballfancast.com

the Romanian will leave Scotland after five years
back when Liverpool's great legend Steven Gerrard was in charge of the blue and white team
A Dons win over the second-place Gers would have confirmed the Hoops as champions, and that scenario looked all set to come to fruition when Barry Ferguson’s makeshift team – featuring nine changes from the Europa League quarter-final first leg against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday – were torn apart in the first half.
The bedraggled visitors found themselves two goals and a man down at the break after strikes from Reds pair Leighton Clarkson and Pape Guèye, either side of Ross McCausland’s 40th-minute red card for two bookable offences.

Rangers defender Rafael Fernandes picked up an injury in that phase of play and was replaced by James Tavernier

The 18-year-old was thrust into the limelight of Old Trafford last month, as he replaced Connor Barron in the Rangers midfield at half-time, before Clement's charges eventually lost 2-1 in Manchester.

Ianis Hagi will miss three weeks after Rangers shocker | OneFootballIbrox Noise
Rangers’ returning but now-controversial playmaker Ianis Hagi, who was unceremoniously given his marching orders barely 35 minutes into his much-hyped Rangers return on Sunday
has now been confirmed as out for the rest of October
having been banned for Rangers’ next two Premiership matches and obviously missing the FCSB match sandwiched in-between
Hagi, naturally, wasn’t selected for Rangers’ Europa League league-phase squad, and would only potentially feature in Europe this season if Rangers secure knock-out football
a prospect which is now a little more remote after being humbled by Lyon midweek
If Rangers do finish in positions to gain KO football
Clement then gets the chance to change three of his players
And with his suspension coupled with his ineligibility
there was also the potential of his having taken a little knock in his ‘incident’ (he was seen limping off slightly) but fears of that one have subsided after Philippe Clement confirmed he’s going off with Romania for the international break
It does, ultimately, mean that assuming he’s picked in the match squad for the north of Scotland, the earliest Hagi can feature for Rangers is at Pittodrie on the 30th
which is ironic given our content earlier about his diabolical tackle happening around the anniversary of ‘that’ assault on Ian Durrant in 1988 and Aberdeen’s appalling glorification of Neil Simpson
Either way, Hagi won’t play again for Rangers for over three weeks
and we wonder how Clement feels about putting him back in
It is also not a violent one or with high intensity
But it is a clear red card when I saw it afterwards so I don’t think it will be a big suspension.”
They call it ‘serious foul play’ when a player is extremely reckless even if it’s not absolutely deliberate
and Hagi will serve a two match ban and apparently be available for Pittodrie

IBROX star Ianis Hagi has hit out at the 'fake news' regarding his future with the Glasgow side
The attacking midfielder is five years in with Rangers
but has spent some time out on loan and dropped in and out of the squad with injury and struggles for form
He impressed enough in his half-season loan from Belgian side Genk back in 2019/20 to secure a permanent move for a fairly hefty fee
The following season the Romanian international had the most assists in the league and picked up Young Player of the Year as the Gers won the Scottish Premiership
He continued to feature heavily and scored once on course to the ill-fated Europa League final
but in January 2022 he was ruled out for the rest of the season to get knee surgery
He didn't make his return until the start of the following year
and only managed 45 minutes of football in total before the end of the campaign
He also featured heavily for his country in the qualifiers for Euro 2024 and appeared in Germany in the summer
He spent the start of the current campaign frozen out of the squad and playing for the B team
making it look increasingly likely his time at Ibrox was coming to an end
There were rumours he was refusing to play over a contract issue which he took to social media to squash, and he's had to do the very same again today.
It was reported that the Jose Mourinho managed side who the Gers dumped out of Europe could secure his signature as he was looking for 'a new adventure'
But the son of Romanian legend Gheorghe has denied that he wants to leave
sharing one such news report with the caption 'fake news!'
He still has not put pen to paper for a new contract in Govan so what will happen in the near future is unclear
But some fans have replied to his post with pleas for him to stay
One wrote: "I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to leave after the way you have been treated at times
"For me you would be one of the first names on the team sheet
I don't think we see the best of you in the position you have been playing in this season
"If you stay or go I wish you well," while another added: "Oh my word
"Genuinely has so much passion for the club
something which is lacking in the current group of players."

IANIS HAGI'S agent is in talks with two Bundesliga clubs about a move to Germany for the Rangers star
according to former Romania striker Adrian Ilie
The Romanian was Rangers' hero at the weekend when he netted with almost the last kick of the ball to rescue a point for the ten-man Ibrox side in a 2-2 draw at Aberdeen.
But he's out of contract at the end of the season and faces an uncertain future
He said: "I spoke to Ianis Hagi's agent and I know there have been talks that he can continue to stay in Glasgow
"Other offers will come for him and the agent has spoken to several clubs
"It's Hoffenheim and Borussia Monchengladbach.
"There have already been discussions.
"He is an interesting player, he has very good quality and no money is paid for a transfer fee.
but they are looking for a different level of players

Rangers opened 2025 in swashbuckling style against rattled, ragged opposition. This was a puzzling afternoon for Celtic, one that is bound to trigger speculation about complacency with the title all but guaranteed.
Read moreTo his credit Rodgers did nothing to sugarcoat his side’s display. The Celtic manager told his players at half-time they surely could not be as poor in the second 45 minutes

It felt strange that it took 64 minutes for Rodgers to turn to his substitutes
No sooner had he done so than Robin Pröpper slammed home Rangers’ second goal
Trusty and Idah have not played nearly as regularly as their combined price tags suggest they should have done

Raskin’s header from a Cerny corner blocked before the much maligned Pröpper found the net
Rodgers had called for Idah merely 120 seconds earlier
There was no sign of Celtic making Rangers sweat for their win
gloss was added to the scoreline for Clement as Danilo pounced on a loose ball for the third
Rangers’ supporters were surely bemoaning the absence of a Celtic following inside their stadium
“I do it because I love this club so much – the fans and everybody in the building
This is a massive club but we’re not yet where we want to be
to get this club back to the level it needs to be.”
Clement’s challenge is to avoid the one step forward
Rodgers must decipher how on earth this first domestic defeat of the season happened
His professional pride will ensure he never wants it to happen again
The Scottish press rushed to criticize Ianis Hagi again
during the 45 minutes he played in Romania’s 0-1 loss to Bosnia in the start of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers
Hagi came on at halftime at the National Arena
replacing the injured Florin Tănase after the first 45 minutes
The Scots reacted to Cornel Dinu’s comments
who harshly criticized the son of the legendary Gică Hagi after the match against the former Yugoslavs
"Cornel Dinu told Ianis Hagi that he will never match his legendary father
could only sit on the bench as Romania shockingly began their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a home defeat against Bosnia
The former Ballon d'Or nominee (ranked 24th in 1970) and idol of Dinamo Bucharest, Dinu, did not hold back in his analysis of Hagi, comparing the father-son duo to the Dutch legend Johan Cruyff and his son Jordi," according to Daily Record.
Next for Romania is the away trip to San Marino in the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers
Rangers stunned Celtic with a dominant Old Firm derby win on January 2 to ease some of the pressure on manager Philippe Clement
Brendan Rodgers' side did not lose a single domestic game in 2024 but looked distinctly off-colour in their opening match of the new year as they faced 24 shots in a single Scottish Premiership game for the first time on record
Mirren and a 2-2 draw with Motherwell to end December left the Light Blues 14 points behind their fierce city rivals at the top of the Scottish Premiership table heading into this fixture
and the leaders arguably let complacency take hold as they produced a lifeless display against a Rangers defence missing three key players and its first-choice goalkeeper behind it

Ianis Hagi's fine goal after only seven minutes — scored in front of his watching father
the Romania great Gheorghe Hagi — sent Ibrox into raptures
and Vaclav Cerny hit the bar with a deflected shot before quarter of an hour had been played
Celtic looked sluggish compared to their hosts
although there was a nervy moment just before the break when Reo Hatate's shot had to be palmed away by Liam Kelly
who was making just his second start for Rangers
Clement's team produced a similar first-half display in last month's Scottish League Cup final only to lose on penalties after a 3-3 draw
but there was no repeat of that drop-off in standards in the second half — although Kyogo Furuhashi's clever finish being ruled out for offside will have reminded a few fans of that disappointment at Hampden Park
Yet any such concerns were ended just past the hour mark
prodding home from close range after Nico Raskin's header was blocked
and it never looked like Celtic would mount a comeback from there
Substitute Danilo then scored barely a minute after coming off the bench
side-footing home from close range to spark celebrations in the stands
The title may be beyond them for this season
but this was at least a game that showed there is not as big a gap between the Old Firm rivals as the league table suggests

Rangers inflict upon Celtic their first domestic defeat in over a year
That was one of their worst performances of the season by a distance
The title race might be firmly in their hands

presumably to give some players a round of applause

The referee hands the object to the fourth official — it looks like coin — who then passes it to a police officer to be placed in an evidence bag

Since Opta started keeping records in Scotland's top flight in 2013/14
they have never faced as many in a single match

75 mins: Rangers have had 23 shots to Celtic's four so far
Three of those attempts for the league leaders came in the first half; their latest just now saw Maeda's header blocked by Yilmaz

Nico Raskin is really growing in that role and you need several leaders on the pitch
but I'm expecting from Liam Kelly the same
He's being doing it in the dressing room and I expect that on the pitch also."

Ianis Hagi received excellent news in Scotland.
The Romanian footballer has reasons to rejoice after Rangers changed their coach.
Rangers appointed Barry Ferguson as the coach, who is a declared fan of the Romanian.
Before being appointed as the coach at Rangers, Ferguson was a TV analyst and consistently praised Ianis Hagi.
"I am delighted for Ianis Hagi. It must have been hard for him in recent months, not knowing where his career was heading. He trained alone, played for the second team. He returned and certainly showed his worth. He played well," Berry Ferguson stated in December.
Thus, Ianis can expect to keep his starting position at Rangers from now on.
Ianis has scored 3 goals and provided 5 assists in the 17 matches played for Rangers this season.
Ianis Hagi (26 years old) receives important news
Approaching the end of his contract with Rangers, Ianis Hagi (26 years old) receives important news from Scotland.
Ianis is no longer a starter at Rangers. After the appointment of Barry Ferguson, the interim coach who replaced Philippe Clement, the Romanian has been relegated to the bench, even though he was used in the first two matches under Ferguson's tenure.
Scots claim that Barry Ferguson is set to remain as the head coach from this summer onwards, based on the results he has achieved. This is significant news for Ianis, who, considering he has become a substitute, must carefully plan his next career move.
Ianis Hagi's contract with Rangers expires this summer, and so far, the Romanian international has not signed an extension.
Ianis Hagi has played 25 matches in all competitions for Rangers' senior team this season, during which he has scored three goals and provided seven assists.

"The King" highlighted that Ianis Hagi's relationship with coach Philippe Clement "has improved."
Their relationship (editor's note: Clement and Ianis) has improved
He came off at halftime against Dundee, but there is nothing extraordinary. It was visible on the field as well. It's not a serious issue, he will continue to play!" stated Gică Hagi, as reported by Digi Sport
is convinced that Ianis Hagi (26 years old) has already made the final decision regarding his future
Ianis is in the final months of his contract with Rangers
and Ferguson does not believe that the Romanian international will remain with the team beyond the summer
He believes that Rangers cannot meet Ianis's financial demands
"It was a disaster what happened with him and his contract at the beginning of the season. It's about money! (...) I don't think he will stay," said Derek Ferguson, according to Ibrox News
The British have been announcing for several weeks that Ianis Hagi has rejected an initial offer made by Rangers to extend his contract
