Although he claims to be all-natural (i.e., he has not and does not use steroids), many sources have questioned his natural-or-not status, including a live interview with influencer KENNYKO that devolved into O’Hearn comparing KENNYKO’s physique to O’Hearn’s wife rather than directly answering KENNYKO’s question of “natural or not.” The interview went viral and O’Hearn subsequently addressed it on an episode of The Mike O’Hearn Show While it isn’t a secret that elite bodybuilders in the IFBB are enhanced (i.e., take steroids), there isn’t anything inherently wrong with that. Many elite bodybuilders are open about the drugs they use and how they use them — Hunter Labrada stated that steroids “greatly enhance your recovery capabilities.” A post shared by Mike O’Hearn (@mikeohearn) [Related: Men’s Open Competitor Martin Fitzwater Details the Financial Cost of Being a Pro Bodybuilder] The Kakos discussed how they used to test for anabolic steroids and banned performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) which took upwards of an hour and a half for each competitor It often took three days to test an entire athlete roster When an athlete tests positive for steroids the Kakos issue sanctions and place the athlete in the “Hall of Shame,” a way to chagrin an athlete in the public eye Those athletes are banned from competing and stripped of any prize money won in PNBA/INBA competition The PNBA/INBA has a zero-tolerance policy regarding substance use Even bodybuilders who want to have children and need fertility drugs have to take time off from competing in the PNBA/INBA A post shared by Mike O’Hearn (@mikeohearn) [Related: Who Is the Strongest Mr. Olympia Winner?] The Kakos comment on Mike O’Hearn being the “God of natural bodybuilding.” To this day O’Hearn claims to be and has always been a natural bodybuilder it’s unrealistic to take PEDs through all of adulthood without consequences as drugs are typically tapered off once ailments are healed or the intended results of the drugs’ use are achieved.  “You can’t be gassed out of your mind as a teenager or in your early 20s and assume that you get to keep that until you’re almost 60,” O’Hearn said “It just doesn’t work that way…You can’t take something like [steroids] for 45 years The PNBA/INBA has several prominent bodybuilding shows remaining in 2023. The Natural Universe competition will be held in October in Romania. It is a qualifier for the Natural Olympia, the premier natural bodybuilding stage. the BAOI website which does not appear to have been updated in several years still lists Bhasin general secretary of the organisation while Kumar is listed as associate general secretary) The third group present at the 1 September meeting was INBA INBA secretary general Kaviraj Singh and INBA member and TechLegis founder Salman Waris both recounted that the three Silf members pressed the issue of banning foreign firms hiring Indian lawyers and are strongly opposing that foreign law firms hire Indian lawyers” Silf chairman Bhasin commented: “We have already made our position that it has to be done in phases coupled with opening of legal services sector that you allow them to come and practice law of their own jursidiction.” “Internal reforms will not take time,” added Bhasin Silf had now “combined the first and second phase into one” though the “first phase will not permit foreign lawyers to engage Indian lawyers” “After the first phase is done it will lead to second phase of limited participation of Indian lawyers by foreign lawyer,” he said Bhasin said that the commerce secretary and Silf were “on completely the same wavelength” The INBA members present on 1 September disagreed with Bhasin and the Silf delegation analysis “foreign law firms are already hiring Indian qualified lawyers but are practising in Singapore and rendering opinions.” Waris said he also responded to the Silf members at the meeting by asking why foreign law firms should not be allowed to hire Indian lawyers here in India if in any case foreign law firms are already hiring Indian lawyers to work abroad advising on Indian transactions Waris had made a similar point in response to the same argument by Silf in July's larger meeting with the law minister which also included the Bar Council of India (BCI) We put that same question to Bhasin by phone today who said: “If they're doing it they [foreign firms] are doing it for their own personal practice you see - to promote their work If the law of that jursidiction permits that - but our law does not permit that.” members of the Silf delegation then followed up with the point that Indian law firms had not hired any foreign lawyers so why should foreign law firms be hiring Indian lawyers Waris said he then pointed out a counter-example of Link Legal India Law Services having been reported to have hired a former Pinsent Masons senior partner only the previous day one of the top concerns of some top Indian law firms' promoters about liberalisation has been that foreign law firms would cherry-pick from the valuable senior second layer of partners from domestic firms We have reached out to Sagar and Saraf for comment about Silf's rationale to preventing foreign law firms from hiring local lawyers Sagar did not want to comment on the content of the meeting saying: “I can't talk to that - it's up to [commerce secretary] Sudhanshu Pandey.” Sagar denied that Silf had any remaining “sticking points” (such as the hiring of local lawyers) but said only several issues remained and that the Silf position was no different than its originally published proposal “SILF, we see this in a very holistic way: there are several points of discussion, and different viewpoints: the consensus has to be built,” said Sagar. According to a follow-up from the ministry sent after the meeting, the following action points resulted from the meeting with a deadline of 20 September: a) Stakeholders to provide comments and inputs on the issues discussed in the meeting. Also, it is requested to suggest precise elements which needs to be addressed in this regard along with the roadmap/timelines. b) BAI is requested to provide documentation on liberalisation processes in Asia-Pacific region. c) SILF/BAI is requested to provide details on the BRICS legal forum. d) DOC to prepare a paper on reforms in legal services in consultation with stakeholders. Wonthaggi’s Leigha Harris brought home six gold medals from two divisions after competing in the International Natural Bodybuilding Association (INBA) show in Brisbane. Leigha Harris has reset the bar for herself and will compete at the Natural Olympia World Cup in LA California and the Pinnacle Natural Olympia in Las Vegas in November 2023. WONTHAGGI resident Leigha Harris brought home six gold medals from two divisions after competing in the International Natural Bodybuilding Association (INBA) show in Brisbane.  With up to 20 competitors across the divisions, and entering both the sports model and bikini divisions, Leigha was stunned with receiving first place for both. “I took out the overall sports model and the overall bikini which is just absolutely ridiculous! Then I was awarded pro athlete for both of those categories as well.” “I went up there just hoping to place. It’s the weirdest feeling when your dreams come true but then they are so exceeded. It’s just unbelievable,” Leigha said. Despite Leigha’s astonishment, she has reset the bar for herself and will compete at the Natural Olympia World Cup in LA California and the Pinnacle Natural Olympia in Las Vegas in November 2023. An opportunity that was personally extended to her by the head PNBA promoter Philip Ricardo. Training for the competition for nearly eight months, intense gym sessions and strict meal plans saw Leigha get into winning form. “It was five training days per week, three lower body, two upper days and that was done every single week for almost eight months. and then one hundred percent stuck to my diet. I didn’t have a single thing off plan.” Leigha was determined to give it her best shot and not have any regrets and didn’t miss a day of training.  “I just wanted to get up there and know that I put one hundred percent in, because I would hate to get up there and think well if I did this or I did that, I might’ve got a different spot.” “I fell in love with the journey and showing up every day no matter if you’re sick, if it’s cold, if it’s too hot, if you haven’t had enough sleep, you get to bed at the end of the day and you’re like you know what, I’ve shown up, regardless, for myself.” This has been almost a decade long dream for Leigha and with other priorities getting in the way, including travel. “When in Italy, you do not, not have gelato for breakfast, lunch and dinner.” “I fell pregnant with my first child, so I had him on August 21. “ Leigha finally had the chance to tick it off her bucket list this year and was motivated by the naysayers. “I was told that when I fell pregnant that I was pretty much I was going to blow out and get fat and that was the end of my body. “I’m a person that if you tell me I can’t, I really feed off that and I just love to be like, you know what, I am going to do it and that sort of pushes me. “I feel like we’re not given dreams without also being given the tools to be able to pursue them and literally achieve anything that you want to.” Leigha returned to training the Monday after the show.  “We’re now training, putting on a bit of weight and working on putting on a bit more muscle to be able to compete with the American ladies.” Leigh is currently looking for sponsorship to go to the US and if any person or business is interested in this opportunity, please contact Leigha at l_lharris@hotmail.com. Greg Mawson completes another training session in the countdown to his second trip to Las Vegas. Photo/Paul Taylor Before Hawke's Bay bodybuilder Greg Mawson tackled the INBA Natural Universe Show in Auckland last month he promised his wife, Sandy, he would retire - hang up his trunks -when it was over. "But when I won it, I didn't want to stop there. I knew it would be something that would haunt me forever if I didn't go," Mawson said referring to the INBA/PNBA (Professional Natural Bodybuilding Association) Natural Olympia in Las Vegas from November 10-12. The SnapFitness personal trainer who has been competing for 10 years will be making his second trip to Las Vegas. His first was in 2015. "Back then I was told I was too big and too hard for the board shorts category. This time I will be in a better class which suits my body - men's classic physique," Mawson, 41, said. With his victory in a nine-strong class in Auckland which attracted nine athletes from five countries Mawson was awarded a pro card. "This is an honour and I join the ranks of only six other Kiwi pro athletes in the INBA/PNBA in New Zealand and only two in the men's classic physique class. This class was contested for only the second time on New Zealand soil. The class which was introduced in the INBA in 2015 hails to the physiques of old where mass isn't as much of a criteria, leaving conditioning, muscular separation, symmetry and density - think athletic build where I fit in perfectly," Mawson explained. "Pro comes with extra prestige of VIP meetings, press conferences and autograph sessions at international events. A podium finish usually means prize money also. Normally a bodybuilder is in it for the self-satisfaction and a plastic trophy with the odd goodies bag." Mawson will be the only Hawke's Bay member of an 11-strong Kiwi team travelling to Las Vegas. He knows he will be one of at least three professionals in his class but won't know the exact number until he arrives in the States. "I definitely want to podium. I'm in the best shape I have ever been in and I'm still eating quite well. I train smarter rather than harder and I let my diet work for me," Mawson said. His winning of the Mr Universe classic men's physique title in Auckland followed a third placing at the South Pacific Natural Champs in Taupo a month earlier. It's obvious Mawson, a father of two with a third due in February and grandfather of two, has come a long way since a perceptive but callous remark from a former acquaintance more than a decade ago spurred Mawson into a life-changing experience. "Someone called me fat and made me think about it because I wasn't aware I was so fat, so from that moment I turned a negative into a positive," Mawson recalled. A former professional chef, Mawson developed an eating disorder during his younger days, gorging himself on a smorgasbord of emotional pickings. He fought off those demons in the same manner he hushed that former acquaintance. "Las Vegas will be my 43rd and final competition. I intend to retire on a huge high and I'm going to bring my best package to date to the stage." Should Mawson achieve his goal of a podium finish there's a pretty good chance the United States media will have a field day praising the grandad for the manner in which he has fought the dad bod. He knows he has to deliver before that praise will come. Two unlikely heroes stepped up for the Hawks at the death.
