Is the Tampa Bay area known for Ramen
but we found a new spot for Ramen near Westchase that is exceptional
It’s located at 11909 Sheldon Road in Tampa
I was immediately impressed with the atmosphere
and Japanese lanterns decorating the ceilings
That was my first time trying wood ear mushrooms
The fish cakes had cute little happy faces on them
It must be good Ramen if it has the same name as the restaurant
The signature ramen dish included egg noodles
I haven’t had corn in my ramen prior to trying Minano
The server encouraged us to try both the buns and the bao
though the beef wasn’t available the day we were there
I tried pork bao and it contained minced pork and cabbage
Minano in Westchase should be on your list if you love ramen
Who doesn't love a good roll? We've made a list of the 7 amazing sushi spots in Tampa you need to try
Have you ever gone to an Asian or sushi restaurant and was totally disappointed
We're always looking for the trendiest places to eat in Tampa and fresh sushi is some of the tastiest meals you can have
We're not talking your average California roll either. Although that's what you'll find on every sushi happy-hour menu. We expanded our search to include places with an extra flair to their menu. First, we looked at the highest rated sushi restaurants on Yelp
and then added a few of our own favorites as well as a few from Tampa Magazines Best Sushi Restaurants of 2024. One honorary mention that didn't make our list is Saki Endless Sushi and Hibachi restaurant
one in Clearwater and one in Carrollwood/Tampa area
They have an all you can eat lunch special for $20 that is just too good to pass up on
Cooking is always a little subjective and completely depends on your taste buds
YOu might just think sushi is rolled-up fish and rice
The art of rolling sushi is difficult to master but easy to mess up
Learning the art of sushi making can take decades and often comes down to technique as well as the temperature of the ingredients
According to RB Sushi
the perfect roll depends on a few key factors
The rice should always be room temperature and should never fall apart as you eat it
The fish should always be firm with a shiny look and should never be wet or greasy
Some restaurants don't use the highest quality fish
but that is essential in making each roll so that it can be eaten raw
These places are great if you're going with a group of friends
or just want to treat yourself to a nice lunch
The reviews for this place on Yelp are great and people love the vintage vibe the restaurant gives
One of the most popular rolls on their menu is called the "Orange Sunrise" made with Spicy Yellow Tail & Cucumber Roll

Enjoy some amazing sushi rolls with gorgeous waterfront views of Downtown Tampa
Everything at Jackson's Bistro is made with the finest quality ingredients so you know the sushi here is amazing
We've actually ever been here but the reviews on Yelp really make us want to try it out
We looked at their menu and think the Passionate Salmon Roll sounds so good
Izakaya Tori is a runner up in Tampa Magazine's Best Sushi Restaurants in 2024
Kelp Sushi is a hidden gem located in Town n' Country
It used to be called Origami Sushi but it looks like it has taken new ownership with Kelp
We went there the other day for Happy Hour and they have an awesome deal
They were the #1 winner in Tampa Magazine's best Sushi Restaurants for 2024
hole in the wall restaurant but the quality will blow you away
The service here is awesome and their specialty rolls are top notch
We recommend trying the Tsunami Roll or the Scallop Bomb Roll

SoHo Sushi is another winner for Tampa Magazine's Best Sushi Restaurants of 2024
They are located in South Tampa and are known best for their creative
So we left this off our "official" list because it's quite the drive from Tampa (but totally worth it)

Confidential agreements and medicines out of reach for millions
This investigation goes inside Europe’s secret drug pricing system
revealing a world of opaque deals and unequal access
two pharmaceutical consultants check-in to an Amsterdam hotel
It is one of hundreds of options in the city
It is also where experts from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) are staying for their monthly meeting
Senior figures from the agency’s Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP)
were gathering at its headquarters in the Dutch capital
They were there to discuss applications from pharmaceutical firms wanting to market their drugs in Europe
plucked from their day jobs at national agencies or health authorities
that the EMA relies on to assess the merits of drugs that could be used by millions
says drones were even once sent to spy on proceedings by unknown actors
For years they were part of the EMA’s inner circle
through their joint enterprise Consilium Salmonson & Hemmings
they advise big pharma on how to get the coveted authorisations they once approved
the pair would corner experts in the corridors of the hotels
Their presence at hotels did raise eyebrows but the pair deny any wrongdoing
Salmonson said they “repeatedly tried to avoid” staying at the same venue
“We tried to avoid meeting CHMP members by
having breakfast after the meeting started.” But it was not “100 per cent successful as on occasions we have accidentally met CHMP members in the lobby.”Headquarters of the European Medicines Agency in Amsterdam
there are bigger questions that exist for the regulator
Tomas Salmonson was chairman of the CHMP for six years until September 2018
Three months later he launched his consultancy firm (Consilium Sweden AB)
“Our best work has been in partnership,” reads the website of their new venture
but instead are hired by their national agencies
neither were covered by the EU’s conflict of interest framework
are not employed by EMA and therefore the EU staff regulations do not apply to them,” a spokesperson said
“It is incredible that no rules are in place to prevent revolving door cases involving scientific experts,” says Shari Hinds
policy officer at Transparency International
“We urge the EMA to implement effective and comprehensive rules to prevent such cases in the future.”“It is incredible that no rules are in place to prevent revolving door cases involving scientific experts.”— Shari Hinds
but added: “Meanwhile practice has changed
and companies no longer make such recommendations.” The firm said Pradaxa had important health benefits and added: “Given the severe impact of stroke events
regulators underline that the benefits of stroke prevention treatment outweigh the risk of adverse effects from bleeding.” “They used scientific advice to obtain a weakening of the procedures,” argues Anne Chailleu

“These decisions are tainted by conflicts of interest.”German firm Boehringer Ingelheim produces the Pradaxa drug.ShutterstockTomas Salmonson
the Swedish doctor who checked into the Amsterdam hotel
was chairman of the CHMP for six years until September 2018
Robert Hemmings (11 years a CHMP member) - Consilium Salmonson & Hemmings - has one main goal: to help pharmaceutical clients obtain EMA marketing authorisation
Salmonson's Swedish business amassed net income of more than €4.4 million since it started
Hemmings' company declared retained earnings of €1.8 million
EMA director at the time of the hotel meetings
said he raised concerns: “When I heard that Salmonson and Hemmings were contacting the experts
asked for a postponement and gave a clear signal that I was prepared to do anything to stop them
including referring the matter to Olaf [the EU anti-fraud office].” Salmonson is also on the board of Pharmetheus
which pursues approvals for big pharma clients
In 2021 he joined the scientific advisory board of Winhealth
a Chinese company whose “partners” include the likes of Roche
Salmonson said he has not done any work with Winhealth for a long time. The reguator has faced scrutiny over conflict of interest concerns involving its experts.ShutterstockSalmonson and Hemmings both denied any conflict of interest in their work.Salmonson admitted he had “worked for companies that CHMP formed opinions (positive and negative) when I was the Chair”
He added that all CHMP decisions were taken by the wider group
Hemmings said that he delivers “high quality drug development programmes that can lead to high quality dossiers being presented to regulatory authorities.” The EMA said that its experts are “subject to the rules in place at the organisation that employs them.” Sweden’s Medical Products Agency
there is a lack of regulations on so-called transition restrictions in connection with an employee ending his employment with an authority and moving to
the private sector.” The British Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) did not respond to the question of whether Hemmings had complied with the rules related to the cooling period after leaving the agency: "We are in the pre-election period in the UK and cannot comment on enquiries that do not relate to interests in the public health.”“EMA has a very strict policy in place on handling competing interests of scientific committee members and experts.”— European Medicines Agency

inferring that “ad hoc” committees should no longer be used
the EMA told Investigate Europe: “Ad hoc expert groups continue to be involved in EMA's scientific assessment procedures

WARREN, Mich. – A mayoral appointee to Warren’s Crime Commission has been charged with stealing from another law enforcement organization.
Joe Minano was arraigned on embezzlement of less than $20,000 in Center Line’s 37th District Court on Monday.
In addition to serving on Warren’s Crime Commission, he was the treasurer of the Center Line Police Reserve Unit. He stepped down from that position in January and sources say the books he left behind were a mess.
After an audit, it was discovered more than $9,000 was missing. Minano has admitted to police he took the cash to help with some financial problems.
He was very liked in the reserves and the discovery has been upsetting to the group which does considerable charity work.

The EU affairs project takes you inside the negotiations of the laws that affect us all
We publish stories that get to the heart of EU decision-making and explain how political agreements inked in Brussels matter to ordinary Europeans
has an estimated 900 beneficiaries including 21 current MEPs
agriculture commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski and cohesion commissioner Elisa Ferreira among them
Other high-profile members include the UK’s Brexit architect Nigel Farage and French far-right leader Marine Le Pen
Le Pen is among 81 current and former French MEPs listed as beneficiaries. But the amendment
tabled by German Green Party politician Daniel Freund
The text did not propose any radical repeal
but only “suggested” that MEPs who already benefit from a “sufficient pension” voluntarily renounce their future payments. This is out of the question for Le Pen’s Rassemblement National party
which voted en masse against the amendment
In the front row for the vote was Jordan Bardella
visibly determined to defend the pension privileges of his predecessors.Freund
who has become the standard-bearer of this new anti-fund ire
had denounced Le Pen the previous day for her involvement in the scheme
your self-proclamation as an advocate of the little people is a joke,” he said
“The European Union should now pay its enemies… a special luxury pension on top of their regular pension!”But the Rassemblement National was not alone in voting against
The right-wing EPP political group also voted almost unanimously against
as well as France’s Brice Hortefeux and Austrian Othmar Karas
The latter two are both beneficiaries of the fund
according to the Luxembourg corporate register
The liberal Renew Europe group voted in a fragmented way
The majority of social democrats abstained
The Greens and the Left voted in favour. It was hoped the amendment would be included in a resolution accompanying the European Parliament’s spending review for 2021
the parliament is openly critical of the private pension fund but stopped short of calling out its members
It asked the parliament’s internal decision-making body
to clarify the issue of the accumulation of pensions within the EU institutions
In particular that of former MEPs who have also been European Commissioners
the current High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs. In this political but non-binding text
MEPs ask “the administration and the Bureau to guarantee that no taxpayer money is used for any future bail-out”
It remains to be seen whether the Bureau will follow the plenary’s message
The decision on whether to bailout the fund with public money should be taken in the coming months.HELP US CONNECT THE DOTS ON EUROPESupport cross-border journalism

© Jose Manuel CutillasThe structure of the box
Concrete boxes rest on quadruped structures
these structures avoid the alteration of nature
The box is thought as a second structure that replaces walls with beams and roofs with double slabs
The vertical faces of the box are beams as high as the box
defined by the maximum dimensions that let the beams work properly
The horizontal face of the box is a reinforced double slab
the concrete structure is visible on all faces of the box
Its disappearance enables a simultaneous lecture of upper and back sides of the box
This net of systems solves the flexibility needed by the laboratory for its continuous transformation

is researching how cross-sectoral collaboration in data management could strengthen flood resiliency in Canada
Andrea is interested in reducing and managing the "flood insurance gap" in Canada—a proportion of residential properties that are exposed to flooding and cannot find flood insurance protection
By accessing flood maps used by the insurance industry
Andrea has been able to detect properties in Canadian cities that may be considered as high-risk of flooding by insurance companies
flood insurance could be unavailable or unaffordable
Andrea has found that many of the properties located in flood zones identified by the insurance industry fall outside of official government flood zones
Similarities and differences in insurance and government flood hazards areas for a select neighborhood in Halifax
Data sources: Halifax Open Data and JBA Risk Management (2018)
All data has been accessed with permission
Andrea is developing a data analytics platform that integrates flood mapping data used by the insurance sector and governments to create a holistic view of flood risk
She is currently surveying municipalities across Canada to see if and how having access to flood insurance data could inform municipal flood risk management efforts
"Perhaps if there is a common view of the problem
it will become easier to drive effective cross-sectoral collaboration and overcome persistent issues with flood insurance."

Zenta and Megumi Tanaka, the duo behind much loved Collingwood cafe Cibi
aptly named Mina-no-ie (Japanese for Everyone's Home)
Zenta articulated the space's lovely industrial bones with touches like blackened steel trestles that prop up tabletops made from reconfigured wine barrels
Running through the main spine of the cafe are two timber communal tables that are soap-finished to provide their surfaces with a subtle off-white hue
This subtle textural interplay also extends to the choice of handmade porcelain cups
saucers and plates that were created in a collaboration between the Cibi team and local potter Shane Kent

Ras Minano & the Hope of Africa is one of Australia’s leading reggae and world music groups
effortlessly blending roots reggae with afrobeat and Ghanaian traditional rhythms in intense live performances and studio recordings
A regular act in Australian capital cities
Ras Minano has released three albums since 2009
and is poised to launch a new stripped-back reggae version of his band in South Australia where he will support the touring British-Caribbean singer Solo Banton on February 14
Ras was born in Ghana and lives between Australia and his home country
He fondly remembers growing up surrounded by music
It wasn’t long after Bob Marley and the Wailers first introduced reggae music to Africa that Ras came down with a bad case of reggae fever
“Reggae came alive for me when I was introduced to the music of Joseph “Culture” Hill in the 1980s
His listening then broadened to include the pioneers of African reggae like Lucky Dube from South Africa and Alpha Blondy from the Ivory Coast.Ras joined the strong community of Rastafarians in Ghana as his knowledge and passion for reggae music and its cultural and spiritual roots grew
My calling to be Rasta came through music and learning
I met a big Rastaman called Pappa Jah in Ghana in 1999.”
Minano was so taken with the captivating riddims and conscious lyrics of reggae music
These lyrics give freedom and emancipation from the reality of life when we listen
The warmth is palpable when Ras Minano talks about Africa or reggae music
in keeping with the name of his band: The Hope of Africa
he says that his goal is to “bring people together through my music to raise the hope of mankind through Jah music and works.”
“I have been drumming since I was four years old so
I formed my band The Hope Of Africa and recorded my first album
Jah Spirit.” Dunia Mududu (2012) was Ras Minano’s second album
Ras Minano began living and working as a musician in Australia
His first Australian album Real Rasta dropped in 2020 and his Womba EP followed in 2021
These recordings and his performances downunder feature a multi-cultural group of Australia-based band members
His music is a reflection of his own roots and migration story from Ghana to Australia
afrobeat and Ghanaian high-life and traditional music
The mix of genres and influences makes him a versatile performer
able to be presented as a “world music” artist and as an African reggae artist
A career highlight for Minano was taking to the stage at the four-day music festival Womadelaide with his long time Ghanaian friend
While the repatriation of reggae music from Jamaica back to Africa began with Bob Marley
reggae and dancehall music are now more popular in Ghana than ever
record and produce his music between the African and Australian continents
Ras Minano has three albums and one EP to his name and is constantly creating and performing
which will feature the songs Let’s Party and That Day and he aims to return to Ghana in 2025 to perform there again
he supported the Jamaican artist Eric Donaldson at Labadi Beach
and has performed there promoting peace and unity
No stranger to giving international performances
Minano has previously taken to the stage in Africa and Europe
mostly in the United Kingdom and Switzerland
which is home to the country’s largest reggae scene
Ras Minano & the Hope of Africa has a flexible line-up that can expand from a basic five-piece configuration to a thirteen member phenomenon with full brass section
Ticket holders to the Lionhearts event in Adelaide
Australia on February 14 are in for a treat when Ras Minano takes to the stage in support of British-Caribbean singer
Minano will be performing for the first time with a stripped-back reggae version of his band
