With beautifully maintained landscapes reminiscent of the English countryside
Niigata’s Mitsuke English Garden provides an idyllic setting for a springtime day out
The venue is adding to the fun this April with their Cosplay Gataket event
which is returning after its successful debut last year
The event allows participants to dress up as their favorite character and capture some memorable photos with lush greenery and seasonal blooms as a backdrop
Mitsuke English Garden is located approximately three minutes drive from the Hokuriku Expressway’s Nakanoshima Mitsuke Interchange
if you’re visiting the garden via public transport
the closest station is Mitsuke Station on the JR Shinetsu Main Line
the garden is just under twenty minutes on foot or around a five minute taxi ride away

High temperatures are projected to linger on past the summer to the end of October
according to the Japan Meteorological Agency’s forecast for the three months through November
September is projected to see high temperatures
meaning that the remainder of summer will be hot and fall-like weather will come late,” Shotaro Tanaka
said at a news conference Tuesday.googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1499653692894-0'); });
“Although it is a season when temperatures will gradually begin to drop
it is important to remain vigilant and continue to take measures against heatstroke
given that the lingering summer heat is severe.”

Fans can reasonably expect “Boruto” Chapter 41 to kick the action up a notch in the hit manga series
While Kawaki and Boruto’s team 7 were a bit disadvantaged in their initial clash with the powerful Kara member in the recent installment
spoilers are a bit optimistic in their favor as they’re likely to make their counterattack against Boro
The recently released “Boruto” Chapter 40 proved that any member of Kara just can’t be underestimated
While Boro is not exactly the organization’s leader
Boruto and Kawaki’s team can’t seem to inflict serious damage to their single opponent even when they had an advantage in numbers
While Boruto managed to land a Rasengan on Boro
it did not take very long for the latter to recover
While Mitsuki’s snake venom seemed to be effective
Boro’s injury did not last for long since the Kara member possessed amazing regenerative and healing abilities and was able to heal his injuries in just seconds
Sarada eventually realized that they just can’t recklessly fight Boro head-on and they needed to strategize on how to deal with the pesky Boro while fulfilling their ultimate missions
the team decided to retreat for the moment and regroup
Of course, they can’t stay hidden from Boro forever; they have to face him to save Naruto. According to “Boruto” Chapter 41 spoilers from Otakukart, fans do not have to wait for long as it’s likely going to happen in the upcoming chapter.
Chapter 40 is very exciting and action-packed but it felt like it’s just a set-up chapter on what’s to come, according to the publication. This means that fans will likely find “Boruto” Chapter 41 to be much better when arrives next month.
The recent chapter is likely setting-up for Boruto, Kawaki, Sarada and Mitsuki’s counterattack on Boro. It’s exciting to see what type of strategy the team might come up against Boro, who seemed impervious to their previous attacks.
However, Otakukart is not betting that the four children will be able to thoroughly defeat a seasoned and powerful fighter like Boro. A more likely scenario is that the team might engage Boro long enough for reinforcements to arrive. It’s also possible that they might surprise Boro with a totally unexpected combo attack which would result in the Kara member’s temporary retreat.
“Boruto” Chapter 41 release date is on December 20, 2019. Stay tuned to Latin Times for more updates on this manga series.

Neuromuscular Disorders and Peripheral Neuropathies
Volume 10 - 2019 | https://doi.org/10.3389/fneur.2019.00681
Myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) is an autosomal dominant disease characterized by progressive muscle weakness and myotonia along with multiple organ system involvements
mainly due to respiratory or cardiac abnormalities
Chronic respiratory impairment is associated with increased morbidity in DM1
The main ventilatory dysfunction etiology in DM1 is complex
consisting of both peripheral respiratory dysfunction and central respiratory drive dysfunction as well as upper airway muscle dysfunction leading to obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (SAS) and aspiration
Advancements in early diagnosis of DM1 and management with non-invasive therapeutic tools have improved life expectancy for DM1 patients
a thin elder brother and an obese younger sister with visceral fat accumulation
Although neither had voluntary symptoms related to respiratory dysfunction
their apnea-hypopnea indices revealed severe SAS and subsequent arterial blood gases studies showed hypercapnia as well as hypoxia
suggesting central nervous system involvement with peripheral respiratory dysfunction
Non-invasive positive pressure ventilation during sleep was started following pulmonary assessment
Respiratory function should be assessed in DM1 patients
because respiratory muscle weakness occurs in a high percentage of these patients and will shorten their lives
an older brother and a younger sister with severe SAS accompanied by hypercapnia
suggesting that both probably had central respiratory dysfunction
Laboratory values and arterial blood gas of Case 1
Appearance (A,B) and visceral fat area on CT of the patients (C,D)
Figure 2. Southern blot analysis of the patients' genomic DNA samples digested with EcoRI (A) or BglI (B) and then probed with the BamHI fragment containing the DMPK CTG repeat region. (A) Lane 1, genomic DNA from a control individual with an EcoRI polymorphism (10) in one allele
Summary of respiratory function examinations of Case 1 and Case 2
These two siblings have been followed at outpatient care by the same pulmonologist and there has been no apparent worsening of symptoms since starting NPPV therapy
The ABG of the brother revealed slight elevation of PaCO2
Because the sister's arteries are very thin
making it difficult for us to determine her ABG
spirometry was performed 3 months after initiating NPPV therapy and revealed almost no interval changes as compared to the baseline data before starting NPPV
and FEV1% (Gaensler index; FEV1/FVC) 101.8%
As to other complications, the brother showed negative results on brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), echocardiography, abdominal ultrasound and, except for the diabetes, on endocrinologic examinations (8). The sister underwent brain MRI which showed localized white matter hyperintense lesions in the right temporal lobe, a common finding in DM1 (19), which may have accounted for her hypoventilation (5)
and endocrinological examinations yielded essentially normal results except for cataracts and IGT
Because we could not examine the causes of chronic respiratory insufficiency of our patients in detail
we can rule out neither respiratory muscle weakness nor CNS involvement as potential causes of respiratory insufficiency
along with other coexisting sleep breathing disorders
we consider the main cause to be DM1 in our cases
based on the results of whole body screening examinations showing no signs of coexisting sleep breathing disorders such as obstructive pulmonary diseases
emphysematous lung lesions or intestinal lesions suggestive of restrictive lung diseases
The development of chronic, progressive respiratory failure can have prognostic effects, particularly in terms of survival, in many neuromuscular diseases including DM1. Early detection of respiratory dysfunction in addition to early diagnosis of DM1 is crucial. Therapeutic management employing non-invasive therapeutic tools such as NPPV may increase the life expectancies of DM1 patients (3, 4)
Respiratory system function should be examined in DM1 patients, even those with minimal or no symptoms, because respiratory muscle weakness occurs in a high percentage of DM1 patients, and chronic respiratory failure may develop (5, 22, 23)

nendo have designed an audio speaker made of ceramic for the take action foundation
the ‘ceramic speakers’ is a contribution to the revalue nippon project launched by former japanese footballer nakata hidetoshi to revitalize the traditional crafts in japan
each of whom selected one ceramicist and one designer/ artist to collaborate on one piece
director of the 21st century museum of contemporary art in kanazawa
invited nendo to collaborate with mitsuke masagasu
a kanazawa-based potter whose work springs from the traditions of the local kutani ware
they decided to compliment the sophisticated
elaborate lines of mitsuke’s red-glaze designs by fusing them with the infinite sophistication of digital manufacturing techniques to create a set of high-end audio speakers in 1mm thick ceramic substrate
ceramic substrate has a high heat resistance
so is often used for LED bulbs and other heat-emitting internal components and rarely exposed to human eyes
its computer-controlled manufacture involves shaving thin slices from thicker ceramic slabs
fixing them with mercury vapour and mounting all components with a robot arm; human hands touch no part of the process
nendo hoped that adding mitsuke’s red patterns to the process would disrupt it entirely
allowing a new form of expression to emerge
its function-optimized surface takes on a new decorative role
this reminds us both of the limits of the human hand

Tokyo Olympic fans will have to find scarce tickets and pay the price
Then there's the quandary of landing a hotel room with rates that are being inflated due to unprecedented demand
And the summer heat and humidity will be off-putting for some
Then there's one more hurdle: getting around
or even finding a tiny space to stand on Tokyo's famously efficient but over-stressed rail system
Japanese professor Azuma Taguchi at Chuo University has researched Tokyo's system for years and says it's already running at double its capacity and the Olympic crunch could push it to the breaking point
"When peak capacity is twice or three times above normal
it's possible some people could be killed," Taguchi told The Associated Press
His computer simulation predicts that the biggest wave of Olympic spectators will collide with work commuters at popular transfer stations during the morning rush hour
while small stations closest to venues will be overwhelmed
newcomers carrying luggage aboard subway cars and struggling to maneuver off the train and through crowded stations
Tokyo transport officials characterize train cars at 200% capacity as giving passengers just enough space to read a magazine
This probably represents a normal commuting weekday in Tokyo
Taguchi's study predicts 15 stations will experience greater than 200% capacity
with several reaching nearly 400% at their peak
Since Tokyo last hosted the Summer Olympics in 1964
or "pushers," to pack commuters into rush hour cars— often wearing white gloves
Tokyo's Olympic organizing committee question Taguchi's dire predictions
They acknowledge the railways will be packed with 800,000 added passengers daily
They also anticipate that Tokyo expressway congestion will double
the committee wants to launch a smartphone app
and use boats and robot-assisted technology to help fans and commuters get around
authorities are testing special highway lanes and altering the city's transit flow
Concerns about transportation are nothing new at the Olympics
and crowds are often overestimated and subsequently managed
knowing it's a bad time to visit with prices soaring
That happened in 2008 in Beijing and again three years ago in Rio de Janeiro
"Living in Tokyo we experience this 100%
We know how to navigate the stations at these times," said Katsuhisa Saito
the head of transport strategy for Tokyo's organizers
"The main concern is when foreigners attend these events and use the stations
They might not know how to deal with this."
Organizers hope to bring the level of congestion in subway cars down to between 150-180%
Taguchi and organizers agree on one thing: keeping Japanese workers at home during the Olympics could go a long way toward solving the problems
Organizers are asking companies in Tokyo to encourage their employees to work from home during the Olympics
They say more than 2,000 companies have agreed to participate
Tokyo University professor Katsuhiro Nishinari is working with the organizing committee
an expert in what he calls "jam-ology" — the study of crowd behavior
"We're used to having one game per day at the stadium
but at the Olympics we have a tight schedule and we have 3-4 games in one day," he said
"We have to exchange the audience two or three times
That's where we don't have experience."
Another major challenge will be convincing a famously industrious workforce to avoid the commute — or the office altogether — for two weeks next summer
"We're explaining to all the companies and the media
asking people not to work during those two weeks," Nishinari said

Moments that make our days interesting and rich occur frequently
but we often do not recognise them – these are “!” moments
Our aim is for people to feel “!” moments intuitively through our designs
My five most wanted list follows this theme
revealing the “!” between things
I’d always wanted a Chihuahua or a pug
so I decided to get a cross between the two – he turned four this year
I like that when he stands next to a pug he looks like a Chihuahua and when he stands next to a Chihuahua he looks like a pug
Since collaborating with the ceramicist on a project in 2010
Although he has an extremely precise painting technique
I can see the warm feeling of human process in his work
The contrast between these two aspects intrigues me
He is part of a new generation of craftsman in the Japanese tradition
I am fascinated by the way the face changes by the perpetual movement of the hands
I find designing with this movement really interesting
and I think that in future I want to find a new way of expressing or interpreting the space between different times
I often eat sweet things between meetings at our office
but one is that we can only eat three sweets a day
I have a few favourite sweet and cake shops in every city and
Stohrer is the best – although I am seriously worried I will die of diabetes
People have been talking about how all our surroundings will become digitalised for a long time now
we are still stuck between digital and analogue
but it might be a symbolic product of the situation
Moments that make our days interesting and rich occur frequently – these are “!” moments

Every summer children in Japan take part in all sorts of ‘stamp rallies’ as a sort of memento of places been or activities completed
This customary summer activity find its origins in traditional pilgrimages
which for centuries have seen pilgrims in Japan traveling traditional fixed routes of temples or holy places
hoping to atone for their sins in this life and gain merits in the next
It is common for the pilgrims to collect stamps (shuin) in a special stamp book as a record of each of the temples or holy sites visited
These ornate red-ink stamps are often accompanied by beautiful inscriptions from the temple’s priest
pilgrimages have become more commercialized
and all manner of souvenirs are now available for the pilgrims
but the collection of shuin remains popular even for tourists
Seeing pilgrimages as a way to attract business to local areas
many parts of Japan now have their own special temple circuits to attract visitors
when many families are traveling with children on trains
the stations often have stamps as part of a ‘stamp rally.’ The kids can collect the stamps in special books sold at the stations
or just on pieces of paper to be added to scrap books later
The stamps are a simple and fun way to remember the places visited over the summer
There are thousands of photo blogs online updated regularly by JR stamp rally enthusiasts
with pictures of old and new stamps for different stations around Japan
JR East is offering a Pokemon stamp rally until August 9 at 95 stations in and around Tokyo. You can choose which stations to get your stamp according to your favorite Pokemon character by checking out the map here: www.jreast.co.jp/pokemon-rally/pdf/pokemon-rally2009_ 20090717_map.pdf.

Tokyo Metro has collaborated with popular kids’ TV show Kamen Rider Decade with their summer stamp rally until August 28

Next year is rumored to be the first with an iPhone with OLED display – just so long as Canon Tokki Corp
That's what's implied by sources this week who claim a bottleneck in supply might block an OLED iPhone in 2017
Canon Tokki has a "near monopoly" on the equipment that makes OLED displays – the equipment manufacturers need to create OLED displays for smartphones of all sorts
Whether or not Apple jumping in on OLED will affect how well Android devices are supplied is another question entirely
This is an exercise in stepping back and seeing the larger picture of the situation
Instead of a manufacturing issue at a display-maker company like Sharp Display Co.
the manufacturers of the machines that manufacture displays is where the block is
According to Bloomberg
Canon Tokki has a "growing backlog" of orders for their display-making machines
This backlog continues to grow regardless of a doubling of output of their display-making machines in the year 2016
While Bloomberg reports just one plant available to Canon Tokki
the Canon Tokki homepage suggests there are two: Mitsuke Plant at 10-1 Shinko-cho
and Hiratsuka Plant at 3072 Okami Hiratsuka-shi
Regardless of two plants existing where another report says there is only one
Canon Tokki does indeed make OLED display-making machines
The ELVESS OLED Mass Production System is the result of 30-years of vacuum evaporation equipment expertise
and is aimed at creating OLED displays for consumers on a mass scale
This ELVESS machine is able to work with glass substrates at 370×470mm~730×920mm
including ITO patterned glass substrates (PM) and TFT patterned glass substrates (AM)
"this fully automated manufacturing system can maintain constant operation with a cycle time of 2-3 minutes per substrate for approximately one week
contributing to the mass production of OLED displays."
ABOVE and BELOW: Process diagrams showing the steps with which the ELVESS machine creates OLED displays
Earlier this December it was tipped that Japan Display was investing in OLED in a big way
If they're unable to buy manufacturing machines to make screens
it becomes especially difficult to make the displays they're going to make
But – and this is a big but – none of this means anything unless manufacturers aren't already prepared to manufacture OLED displays for the iPhone
It could also be that Apple's chosen suppliers of OLED displays have already ramped up manufacturing well in advance of the next iPhone
They could have been purchasing machines to make OLED displays for years now – there's no indication at this time that Canon Tokki's manufacturing machine has changed significantly in the very recent past
Not enough to stop Apple from creating the next iPhone just to wait for a new manufacturing machine from Canon Tokki for their manufacturing line
Each spring in the paddy-dotted rice bowl provinces of Japan
farmers such as Masaki Nagai gather at their local shrine for an ancient ritual to appeal to the gods for a bountiful harvest
After seeing the low price of foreign rice first hand on a recent trip to Taiwan
and with Japan under increasing pressure to reduce protection of its agriculture sector
they may now pray just that little bit harder
Falling rice prices have already put many of his fellow farmers out of business and 56-year-old Nagai fears his fields will be washed away by a flood of cheap imports if Japan bows to calls to scale down its trade barriers
and only one-third of the price of the same kind we make here," he lamented
exchanging a rueful look with fellow rice farmer Tadao Iwabuchi
"And rice made in California is just one-tenth the price of Japanese rice," Iwabuchi added
Although Japan's dwindling number of rice farmers are cushioned by whopping import tariffs of up to 778 percent
they fear such protectionist measures are unlikely to last
Japan has signaled it is prepared to make difficult concessions at this week's WTO talks in Hong Kong
While it seems unlikely the rice import tariffs will be scrapped at this month's meeting
has said Japan is ready to "accept considerable pains" to help broker a deal
In Japan rice prices have slumped by almost one-third over the past decade
many farmers of the staple food had been forced to take second jobs to make ends meet
The trauma is heartfelt since rice is deeply rooted in Japan's rural culture
and the government has a history of protecting its farmers
Many Japanese view foreign rice as vastly inferior to the home-grown
and there are few complaints about prices in the shops that are several times higher than in many overseas countries
full-time farmers are rare in Japan nowadays
Just 13 percent of a total of 3.12 million farming households devote themselves entirely to agriculture
In Niigata prefecture north of Tokyo where Nagai and Iwabuchi are struggling to eke out a living
75 households of rice farmers with more than 10 hectares of rice paddies remain
Iwabuchi has been expanding his own paddies -- not because the profits are pouring in but to try to boost efficiency to better compete with importers
"A few years ago I wanted to expand my rice fields to a total of 10 hectares
but now I am still worried with 13 hectares because circumstances surrounding us are changing so rapidly," Iwabuchi said
They fear such efforts may count for nothing in the face of the vast farm lands of the US and the low labor costs of China and Taiwan
"Farmers in the United States have hundreds of hectare rice fields each whereas in Japan even farmers with the largest fields have only about 10 or 20 hectares," Iwabuchi said
The farmers' fear is amplified by a sense of betrayal by their political leaders
"What frustrates me most is that the Japanese government has not drawn a comprehensive picture of how to make structural reform of the Japanese agriculture," Nagai said
was scarce following the end of World War II
But as agricultural advances boosted global harvests
Japan erected barriers to protect its farmers
Until the Uruguay round of trade talks under the WTO's predecessor GATT
the Japanese government had repeatedly vowed that "not even a single grain of rice will be imported."
Japan had agreed to open the door to a minimum amount of imports
it is under pressure to make further concessions in the WTO talks on agricultural trade
want a drastic cut in the number of "sensitive products" with special protection
as well as the introduction of caps on import tariffs
the Japanese government controlled production and prices of rice for decades
pressing farmers to reduce planting areas to bring national production down in line with falling consumption
many small-sized farmers survived alongside a smaller group of large producers
the government turned toward market-oriented rice production policy
Now it is trying to limit subsidies to large farmers only
For those who have toiled away in the paddies all their life
"Most of the local festivals and events are rooted in rice cultivation
"There are so many things linked to rice cultivation that bring us together as community members ..
collaborative work on cleaning of waterways
seasonal festivals and rituals praying for a rich harvest," he said
In Niigata prefecture rice-growing households gather at their local shrine in the spring when the shrine priest prays for a bumper season and again in the autumn just before harvesting
even prayers may not be enough to save their paddies

A group of researchers led by Professor SATO Kosuke and Master Course Student MORITA Karin (Graduate School of Engineering Science
Osaka University) and MIKANE Yuji (Kanagawa Archaeology Foundation) developed an automatic joint method for obtaining a fine-tuned integrated whole by matching surface contours of two stones after roughly coordinating two stones through 3D alignment of wedge quarry holes
this group succeeded in measuring the huge stones used for the square-shaped stone at the Ote-mon gate and precisely matching the two huge stones in a virtual-reality space
this group sterically verified that the Ote-mitsuke stone and the Ote-niban stone were originally a single stone but later were divided into two by using wedge quarry holes
This group also developed an automatic joint method for recovering an original stone by combining two split stones in a virtual reality space
even though they are fit into a stone wall
to retrieve the original stone using 3D measurements with a digital camera
this group clarified parts whose surface was chipped and parts recently detached
Traces of wedge quarry holes still remain in most stone materials built into stone walls at historical sites such as castles
This automatic joint method will lead to the development of artificial intelligence for archaeology capable of discovering pairs of split stones and will clarify stone wall building methods and quarries
The results of this study were presented at the 36 th Conference of the Japan Society for Archaeological Information held at Kyushu National Museum on March 26 and March 27

A wide range of activities will be organised within the framework of the festival to increase mutual understanding and cultural exchanges between both sides, according to Le Thu Hanh, deputy director of the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs.
An exhibition on Vietnam-Japan cooperation achievements and an exhibition on children's paintings of Japanese localities that have cooperative relations with Da Nang, such as Kanagawa prefecture, Sakai city, Kisarazu city, Mimasaka city, and Mitsuke city, will also be held.
Highlights of the festival will include 80 booths introducing Vietnamese and Japanese cultures; traditional dishes; and information about education, study, tourism, and trade.
A conference on promoting Japanese tourism in Da Nang and an information festive day about studying in Japan will also get underway.
Art performance shows put on by Vietnamese and Japanese artists will be held in four nights. Famous Hip Hop band Kawakado from Japan are expected to bring unforgettable memories to audiences.
Notably, a workshop will be held to examine Da Nang-Japan cooperation in fields such as digital technology, green technology, information technology, microchips, semiconductors, and human resources training.
This year’s festival will offer an opportunity for locals and tourists to watch Japanese sports games such as baseball, wrestling and football, along with an exchange of traditional folk dances and an introduction of Japanese tea-making arts.
The festival will jointly be organised by the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs, the Japanese Consulate General in Da Nang, and administrations of Japanese localities.
The festival has been held eight times since it was first launched in 2014. Each year it has attracted more than 35,000 visitors, leaving a positive impression on Vietnamese citizens and Japanese friends.
