Western Localization Of ‘Fire Emblem Engage’ Removes Gendered Language, Censors Romantic Confessions More About: Vertical publishes the manga in English and it describes the romantic comedy story: Hirokazu Hanai (Dances with the Dragons) directed the first season at Telecom Animation Film Sources: Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro anime's website, Comic Natalie This show had a lot of hype surrounding it before it came out It’s the latest installment in a growing sub-genre that shows a cute girl berating or teasing the main character Following in the footsteps of Teasing Master Takagi-san and Uzaki-chan Can this show do anything different to make it worth watching or is this just another average entry into this developing sub-genre You would think his name was Senpai but his actual name is Naoto Hachiouji and he is the most spineless piece of crap I have ever seen in my life I have seen spineless characters before but this dude just took the entry in the dictionary that would define the archetype I know… this is the story section of the review but I just had to say it because his character archetype IS the story here… or at least half of it The fact that he is just such a spineless worm opens up the path for our other main character She sees him in the library one day trying to study but he gets super nervous when Nagatoro and her friends begin to poke fun at him She stays behind and continues the abuse even further Nagatoro is constantly hunting him down and teasing him every chance she gets What we actually get on top of this is actual real character development and some genuinely sweet moments that make you believe that a wholesome relationship is developing this show is about a girl berating a spineless guy and the comedy that ensues from it but then you have to stop and ask yourself “Have you ever had a girl tease you on purpose because she secretly likes you?” you would experience this in elementary school when most of our brainpower hasn’t matured yet but this is the true story of this show and it’s cute that this also follows the tried-and-true anime TV trope of teasing a relationship and then not pulling the trigger on it I know that may have spoiled the ending but given the popularity of the show and the fact that the manga is still ongoing I think it’s safe to say we’ll be getting a Season 2 of this It’s not a matter of “if” as it is “when” it will get announced The cast for this show is relatively small but that’s fine because that’s where you want it to be with a show such as this I hated him so much that I wanted to see Nagatoro utterly destroy this pleb-ass chode until there was nothing left because I felt that he deserved it he began to actually talk back and defend himself… sort of I mean… he says words now… if that counts for anything he gets nervous around others but he’s avoiding situations less and less and you can definitely tell that there is some development there Nagatoro is the ultimate star of this show her name is even in the title!) It’s not just the teasing that gets her over with the audience and her actions… whether they are used to tease Naoto or doing something kind and heartwarming for him Everything gets wrapped into a package that makes you say… She has this uncanny charm about her that you can’t help but fall in love with She makes you want to jump into the anime itself I don’t know if she’s going to win Best Girl of 2021 but she is a super strong contender These are Nagatoro’s friends and I’m lumping them together because they can be summed up in one word: Annoying Yoshi is Maki’s little squawk box that just repeats what Maki says much like her pink-haired counterpart in another series These girls only serve as additional bullies for Naoto; however tease Nagatoro over her painfully obvious and deepening love for Naoto She’s the art club’s president and is brought in at the very end of the series as she threatens to shut down the art club unless Naoto can produce a reason for being there She’s a cold-hearted bitch with a stone-like personality and more curves than a mountain road I mention that because she uses those curves as her weapon she loves painting her own naked body and passing it off as art This is what Naoto has to contend with after setting up a challenge against her The two of them will battle it out in an art exhibit for the school’s cultural festival It’s about as tropish as you can get for an ending to a show such as this but it worked… even if it just came from out of left field It’s like they spent the majority of the budget on drawing and animating Nagatoro and then hired an intern to work for free when designing Maki It was a bit jarring to see a character like Nagatoro look so good and then seeing someone like Maki which looked like a rejected art design straight out of FLCL Not only is the music pretty banger but it’s pretty clear where a lot of the budget went That was probably one of the better openings I’ve seen in a long time that didn’t involve studio ufotable Telecom Animation Film did a pretty banger job with it and it was one I didn’t skip I watched it every single time and still have the urge to check it out the animation was pretty average but with a slice-of-life comedy such as this Nagatoro carried this show and carried it hard but rightfully so She just had so much character oozing out of her that if you subtracted every other side character and story point and just made it Nagatoro and Naoto only… this show’s quality wouldn’t have suffered at all Everyone from the artists to Sumire Uesaka brought this character to life in such a way where she almost could do no wrong and inflection gave birth to a powerhouse of a main character Nagatoro is the kind of character that you could literally drop into ANY anime of the same genre and she would instantly make it so much better Naoto grows on you and becomes the perfect counterpart to Nagatoro He goes from just getting stomped on to becoming her personal system of checks and balances Everything just meshed so well and the true nature of the story gave us way more than we were expecting What we were left with was a heartwarming tale of a girl who has a crush on a boy but can’t express it normally she teases him until both of them realize their feelings for one another This one is a very good watch and if you give it a chance you will find yourself having a very enjoyable experience What starts off as an average show about a girl teasing a spineless boy turns into a cute and wholesome love story about a girl who likes a boy and expresses it by teasing him constantly This show is a lot deeper than what it presents itself as on the surface Bubbleblabber Your source for the latest in adult animation news The second season of Don’t Toy With Me You might recall that I absolutely hated the first season of this anime So much so in fact that I was really upset when it got announced that it was even getting a second season There are so many anime out there that never get a second season that I was upset this series did Now I would say my point still stands on that and I can think of so many more deserving anime but the second season of Nagatoro was leaps and bounds better… plot-wise at least Where it didn’t improve was the animation I understand that some of the “poor” animations are just a design choice of the author Perhaps what I’m about to complain about is the same way but it feels lazy regardless of who does it What I’m talking about is the fact that no one but the plot’s important characters has a face You just get to see some hair and some eyebrows I think Senpai might be the only male character who gets a face From a story standpoint though this one got so much better I have to tip my cap to them because of how much they improved It was always defined as a romance but it leaned way more into the “bullying” aspect for me to actually enjoy it and you know I love some romance The first few episodes still dealt with the bullying stuff pretty heavily but it eventually found its footing as more of a rom-com From that point on it was a lot more enjoyable and I would say almost better than a lot of other rom-coms out there Senpai improved a lot from the first season and actually had the courage to ask Nagatoro out a couple of times Nagatoro also started to become more honest with how she felt toward Senpai There was a new character introduced in the art club who was the former president’s cousin She seems like a cool character but was introduced so late in the season that we don’t really get much time with her This leads me to my last and probably most surprising point I hope there is a third season of Nagatoro I know what you’re thinking but it got a lot better It’s hard to recommend though because there is so much garbage anime to get through before you get to the good stuff in this one But if Rent-a-Girlfriend can get a third season then surely this can too right Lazarus Episode 1– 👎 Big City Greens 100th Episode–👍 Common Side Effects Episode 1–👍 Lil Kev Episode 1–👍 StuGo Episode 1–👍 Patrick Star - "There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)." Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs Bifferno I think it's all delayed until the 23rd now. gobluespartyon- Sunomiya encourages Senpai to ask Nagatoro out on a date Senpai tries to ascertain if Nagatoro has anywhere she’d like to go on her next school break If there is anything you want in your rom-com then it has to be progress I’m honestly shocked and impressed that there was this much that happened in the last few episodes Even Senpai has started to grow a lot as a character and he and Nagatoro both are showing some healthy habits She is focusing on her Judo now and he’s trying to do better with the art club but they also miss seeing each other so The only thing I found kind of annoying about this episode was when Sunomiya showed up to pick her cousin up on a motorcycle Her showing up was cool but what person wears their motorcycle suit with their chest that exposed I know she has a penchant for public nudity but still That being the biggest issue I have with the episode shows how much this anime has improved for me The character development has been amazing and I like where this is going now Compare this to Rent-a-Girlfriend and it’s like night and day Give me a third season of this instead of that I can’t believe how much better this is Reading my old reviews feel like a different person wrote them “Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro” is an anime adaptation of the manga of the same name, written and illustrated by Nanashi. It follows the story of Senpai, who meets Nagatoro and begins getting teased by her on a daily basis. The romantic comedy ranked 1st after its debut episode on Anime Corner’s weekly poll and it’s frequently been in the top 10 in the following weeks We reached out to the Nagatoro creator Nanashi and we conducted an interview with assistance from Kodansha We asked him some questions about his inspiration You can check out all the questions and answers from the Nagatoro creator Nanashi below: it all started when I got the idea of drawing a character like Nagatoro the series ended up becoming a RomCom as a result of Nagatoro’s lively personality Although I always try to avoid any design overlap across all my characters I basically just draw whatever comes to my mind at the moment (laughs) I intentionally try not to think too deeply about it I often end up incorporating random elements into the design of the character I think the outcomes are pretty good.Have you ever been inspired to change something about a story or a character because of someone else’s idea?In regards to “Nagatoro-san” there are times when I get inspired by someone else’s ideas but it was the complete opposite with “Nagatoro-san” because I tried to avoid any external influences I’m always trying my best to create something uniquely appealing like with “Nagatoro-san” I haven’t… I didn’t really model any of the characters based on my personal life and that’s how Nagatoro and her friends came to life.If you were to choose one favorite thing from the anime adaptation the best thing was being able to actually see the characters which up to that point had only lived inside my head I was very surprised when I heard that the series was so highly praised overseas I would love to know why they like it so much (laughs)What would you say to an anime fan who is on the fence about Nagatoro to persuade them to watch or read the series?I’m afraid the title says it all You will get to see how Nagatoro teases Senpai in all kinds of ways and I would like everyone to enjoy that itchy feeling of joy I just love to draw whatever I like without holding back I think I might not really have that sense of balance I am aware that I’m a bit of a trend-junkie when it comes to the things I personally like I draw the things I like with the expectation that the majority of my readers will continue supporting me.Nagatoro plays many mischievous pranks on Senpai How do you come up with all of those? From Senpai’s point of view I often try to imagine what would make him happy Or what kinds of situations will show the cute side of Nagatoro Whenever I find myself relaxing, like while I’m out on walks or whenever I’m at a cafe drinking some tea, I’m constantly moving the characters inside my head and thinking up new scenarios.Don’t Toy With Me Miss Nagatoro © Nanashi / Kodansha Ltd.That marks the end of the interview We would like to thank Kodansha and creator Nanashi for agreeing to the interview about Nagatoro-san and all their assistance with the process Senpai visits Nagatoro’s home to deliver handouts from school Her sister lets him in and decides to mess with both him and Nagatoro I think what is most annoying about this anime is that it shows flashes of promise but it’s seemingly too lazy to deliver on them Either that or I’m just not the audience for it which is extremely likely won’t they” romance as much as the next guy but the lengths this goes to are almost as bad as Rent-a-Girlfriend and you know how much I hate that one There were a few moments that were pretty decent in this one I understand that Nagatoro doesn’t want to admit that she has feelings for Senpai so that’s why she lashes out with pranks and mean words but c’mon Props to Senpai for saying that he would like to call Nagatoro by her first name If this is your first anime ever (first off I’m sorry) you might know that calling someone by their first name is a big deal in Japan It shows familiarity and is often only done between family members this episode was a little better than average but you could still do much better Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro is all about one girl's quest to tease the crap out of her nerdy senpai But is Nagatoro actually funny or just plain mean This series is streaming on Crunchyroll Disclaimer: The views and opinions expressed by the participants in this chatlog are not the views of Anime News Network Spoiler Warning for discussion of the series ahead I don't want to be too mean to this show because I get it: basing an entire thing off of the appeal of a single character is basically how SNK's Athena maintained her relevance after all these years and it's how I got suckered into Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja According to Kodansha's online magazine Magazine Pocket there are only 3 chapters left until the end of this story that enchanted fans around the world Hayase Nagatoro has enchanted fans with his eccentric way of dealing with his Senpai The plot follows the lives of Naoto Hachioji the relationship between the two While I’m certainly not against the concept of a girl teasing the boy she likes this goes beyond that and into straight-up bullying I was hoping that after Senpai is left in tears at the end of Chapter 1  that things would cool off a bit and Nagatoro would soften up but the stories that follow all have Senpai being incredibly uncomfortable At one point Nagatoro asks Senpai why he doesn’t get mad at her for giving him a rough time to which he responds that he has always been bullied and stays quiet until it passes but he doesn’t find it so bad with Nagatoro – which immediately set off alarm bells in my mind leaving her to take advantage and push her schemes to the limit gross and a creep which upsets him and in turn me Illustrations of Nagatoro questioning her actions in-between chapters aim to show that she’s not bullying Senpai to be malicious and she does sometimes apologise for her actions Miss Nagatoro goes too far and what should be an entertaining comedy ends up not being funny at all I just want Senpai to realise that there are girls out there that won’t bully him and Nagatoro’s actions are wrong The series has been created by mangaka Nanashi Their artwork is detailed and the expressions of the cast are varied It’s especially interesting to see how Senpai (who is almost constantly blushing) grows increasingly nervous and uncomfortable from panel to panel showing Nanashi knows just how to tweak their characters to get the required result It’s a pity there wasn’t a better story to go with the great artwork Miss Nagatoro comes to the West thanks to Vertical Comics and has been translated by Kristi Fernandez When Nagatoro first meets Senpai she introduces herself as a sophomore (second-year in American high-school) and asks if he is a junior (a third-year) which initially threw me off as I thought junior was below a sophomore They’re very Americanised terms which don’t make sense to me in the UK so I wish they’d just been translated into school years rather than using those terms Volume 2 of the series is due to be released in February Miss Nagatoro is ongoing at 5 volumes in Japan The premise certainly sounds entertaining but underneath it is an uncomfortable level of bullying There are certainly better series to pick up with similar but less problematic set-ups A free preview of Volume 1 can be found on Kodansha’s site here Demelza can generally be found exploring some kind of fantasy world and chasing her dreams of being a hero From the creator of Nichijou comes more surreal comedy and a woman worshipping a god she made yesterday Think a long-distance relationship is hard Tsutomu Nihei’s mecha manga returns in this extra large on Ice comes the story of a man unlucky in love who finds himself the centre of four women’s affections Volume 2 of Kino’s Journey: The Beautiful World continues to offer a compelling adventure series Although it’s not for the faint-hearted if you can look past the depressing nature of these stories you’ll find a fascinating message about humanity Having been established since February 2004 Anime UK News is constantly striving to deliver high quality UK anime news and reviews to your computer screens each and every day being sure to maintain high standards of writing and reliability Designed and maintained by devoted anime fans Anime UK News and it’s fledgling forum community is growing with each passing month proving we are an ambitious and trusted resource for UK-based anime fans and beyond An artificial intelligence (AI) surprised everyone by generating a series of never-before-seen images of the character Nagatoro you can check out a sample of these images each faithfully capturing the series' signature visual style Nagatoro-san” is a Japanese manga created by Nanashi An early version of the webmanga was published on Pixiv on August 16 The official serialization of the webmanga began on Magazine Pocket a webmanga app from Kodansha in November 2017 Take the opportunity to be part of our WhatsApp and follow us on Google News (I love you guys...)
