The biggest week in Joshi wrestling has happened, and The Five Star Joshi Show has coverage for it all. Scott E. is joined by Alex Richards of Stardom Quest and they break down all the news from the week, headlined by Mayu Iwatani's new home and the retirements of both Meiko Satomura and Tam Nakano. Here's everything discussed on the episode: - What Iwatani Brings To Marigold With Her Arrival - Nanae Takahashi vs. Mayu Iwatani's Potential “I like making all sorts of things — I can’t really tell you what I’m an artist of,” Nakano said in an interview with the Record. Nakano, a studio art and environmental studies major, is drawn to everything from sculptural installations to drawing, switching between mediums based on what best conveys her ideas, she said. “What really excites me is getting to do things that, when I explain them in words, sound stupid and silly, but when I actually create them [they’re] surprisingly joyful,” she explained. “There doesn’t have to be this really rigid rationale, and I can really listen to my gut.” Reflecting on her artistic evolution while at the College, Nakano noted that the studio art class “The Art of Almost Nothing” with co-Chair of the Art Department and Chair and Professor of Studio Art Laylah Ali ’91 was essential in helping her understand that art can be created outside of traditional styles.  “You can make an art out of brushing your teeth every day, or just anything,” she said. “That class really made me interested in performance and installation, and really thinking about the labor of making things, the labor itself being art, and using the space around you to activate art pieces.” Nakano’s use of space in her art is also informed by her environmental studies classes, many of which explore how people interact with physical spaces. “To me, art is really connected to making a sense of place,” she said. “Sharing sentiments of joy and silliness, or experiencing something absurd together, really creates this intimacy, and hence creates a strong sense of place.” While installing “Laundry Day,” Nakano said she was thinking about uses of space, and sought to create a piece that was specific to her life in that place and time. That intention — to express the personal and the intimate through art — led her to hand sew the huge underwear that would end up on display, “drying” in the middle of the quad.  “It’s very silly,” she explained. “That was when I was really thinking about communal living, making private things public, vulnerability, and the joy of being embarrassed. It felt really nice to make something that made sense to make it in that place, at that point in my life.” For Nakano, who worked in a bakery during her gap year and is a co-director of Log Lunch, the creative process extends beyond visual art into the realm of cooking. “I don’t think of cooking as like, ‘This is my work,’ but I think [that] what I learned from cooking informs my other creative practices,” she explained. “There is so much joy in being able to share a product of your labor with someone else, and that’s what I feel when I share artwork.” Nakano started working for Log Lunch during her sophomore year, as she wanted to be able to work in a kitchen again, and has been one of the directors since her junior year. “It’s not about cooking skills, or about how well you can chop onions,” she explained. “It’s about collaboration and how well you can enjoy sharing a space together, how well you can enjoy being part of creating something together.” Currently, Nakano is working on her biggest installation yet — her studio art thesis. “I’m making a big daikon radish, like the vegetable,” she said. “And it’s gonna be, hopefully, 20 to 30 feet long.” The Student-Run Newspaper of Williams College Since 1887 Michael Masamichi NakanoBirth date: Mar 6 He was the pianist at Waialae Baptist Church when I arrived in 1977 as the music minister and we met together weekly to rehearse the service music sweet spirit was always an encouragement to us Mike and I had lunch together not long after his retirement in 2010 I remembered how important his friendship was to me He is a "treasure laid up in Heaven" and I look forward to the day Mike Ruth and Ofelia make music again before God's throne Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs appointed Junya Nakano as its new consul general in Miami Nakano said his main focus is to enhance bilateral relations and facilitate cultural exchange between Japan and Florida Consul General Nakano began his diplomatic journey as second secretary at the Embassy of Japan in Russia after graduating from Tokyo University’s Faculty of Law in 1991 and later obtaining an MS (Master of Science degree) at the London School of Economics in 1994 Before arriving in Miami and taking on his new role as consul general Nakano served as minister and deputy chief of mission at the Embassy of Japan in The Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) where he worked toward the enhancement of bilateral relations in both countries Nakano has held pivotal positions with Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs including serving as economic counselor at the Embassy of Japan in Australia and as minister of the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations With extensive diplomatic experience in both Japan and abroad Nakano said he is bringing expertise to his current role in Miami these companies are among the largest investors in the state,” he said Consul General Nakano expressed great enthusiasm for fortifying these standing relations It is my priority to make best efforts to ensure that our diplomatic and trading relationship with Florida will be further enhanced,” he added Consul General Nakano’s qualifications and experience will be pivotal in guiding this relationship between Japan and Florida toward continued success and expansion Recognizing Florida as a dynamic powerhouse Nakano said he is determined to continue cultivating opportunities between Japan and Florida through various fields to ensure an ever-growing and influential relationship “I look forward to working with government officials entrepreneurs and power influencers in the state of Florida towards this common goal,” he said Nakano spoke with Miami Today reporter Abraham Galvan This week’s profile will appear in next year’s Book of Leaders Miami Today publishes a Book of Leaders every year This book is a compilation of all The Achievers profiled in every edition The information in this book is available nowhere else – the stories of the women and men who are shaping the development of Greater Miami If you would like to order a copy of the Book of Leaders from 1997 to 2024 or a complete set, click here to place your order You are using an outdated browser. Saya Kamitani wrestled Tam Nakano in a Career vs Career match at Stardom’s All Star Grand Queendom 2025 I won’t do this story justice in my summary but I wanted to point out just how emotional and deep this feud goes forget Dynasty — these two pale in comparison to the paragon of storytelling that was Saya Kamitani vs Many of you may not be familiar with Stardom but I will do my best to detail just what made this match so special and why it stands alone as MOTY candidate for 2025 a prominent figure in Stardom and leader of the Cosmic Angels initially played a mentor role to the rising star Saya Kamitani Kamitani was part of Tam Nakano’s creation called “Stardom Idols” This was essentially a stable of rookies who played comedic/entertainment roles for pre-shows and undercards Kamitani would eventually officially join Stardom in 2019 eventually won the 2019 Rookie of Stardom Tournament by defeating Saya Iida in the finals everyone assumed Kamitani would join her mentor as Kamitani wanted to carve out her own path with Kamitani clearly not on Tam’s level yet The first significant shift occurred on December 29 when Kamitani ended Nakano’s 301-day reign as the Wonder of Stardom Champion at Dream Queendom with both wrestlers exchanging victories and titles Tam would go on to become World of Stardom Championship (red belt) holder as well as a Wonder of Stardom Champion (white belt) hair match against Giulia for the red belt on March 3rd 2021 at Stardom’s All Star Dream Cinderella Tam even became the second wrestler in Stardom history to hold both the red and white belts at the same time the younger Kamitani seemed to always have Tam’s number This includes defeating her for the white belt (again) in 2022 something was different about Kamitani by 2024 and joined Oedo Tai (now known as H.A.T.E.) angrier and more violent — defeated Nakano for the World of Stardom Championship at at Dream Queendom on December 29 Tam Nakano took to social media and the two began trading personal blows on and off the platform Kamitani offered Nakano a chance at redemption — if defeated Nakano and Sayaka Kurara defeated Kamitani and Natsuko Tora earning Nakano the right to request any match She challenged Kamitani to a “Loser Leaves Stardom” match Kamitani reluctantly granted Nakano one final opportunity: a Career vs Career match for the World of Stardom Championship at All Star Grand Queendom 2025 Their ‘Loser Leaves Stardom’ match was already an instant classic Melzter rated it 5 stars (if you care about that sort of thing) Saya controlled most of the match — and at many moments late in the match where Saya purposely pulled Tam up to prevent a three-count the two went through a sequence where they both kicked out of big moves at 1 And being that both of their careers are on the line as the loser will never be able to do this again Kamitani kept kicking out of Tam’s big moves including 4 straight shining wizards (Violet Shoots) there is a point where Tam seems to understand her fate Kamitani lands Tam’s own finisher – Twilight Dream (delayed German Suplex hold) — to get the three count is emotionally overtaken by the fact that she just retired her mentor “It’s only after I took everything from you that I realize that I love you.” and has one final request — that they walk out of the ring together and at the top of the entrance ramp the two look up as feathers fall from the ceiling with smoke surrounding them Tam points upwards as the arena fades to black The loss marked an emotional end to Nakano’s historic career She had requested that the loser of the match forgo a retirement ceremony the defeated wrestler would simply vanish from professional wrestling altogether This is storytelling on an entirely different level from anything else going in pro wrestling you owe it to yourself to watch this match Tam Nakano essentially passed the torch to Saya Kamitani — and whether you’re a fan of joshi or not this was storytelling at its absolute it changes based on events and we can really reflect each of their personalities through the messages they share with the player To give a more granular example: let’s say there’s a festival and the player enters a tomato that wins first place “Yeah!” You’re very happy you can talk to all the various characters in town and they may all react to that in different ways I’m so happy for you,” and they’ll praise you and your success maybe it was just by chance,” coming off a little colder Still others may not even be paying attention—they might say isn’t it?” Through these small details we were able to flesh out the characters and help each one feel unique in their own way And something else you were able to do was add voices to the characters in Grand Bazaar and how difficult is it to find a cast that matches the characters There are a lot of big personalities in the game that players interact with and I assume you had to cast for multiple languages What’s the process for finding those characters’ voices Hikaru Nakano: Since we are based in Japan as developers we first and foremost find the Japanese and other Asia language voice actors we pass the voices that we finalize on to Marvelous USA and we find the English and other European language voices from there to match kind of the same sort of feel that we have There are quite a lot of voice actors in Japan so finding voices that we feel match the character we’re trying to create are actually maybe not as difficult as you may think in Japan because there are so many to choose from But we do still go through a thorough process as well as even talking to executives as well to make sure that we have the voice that everyone agrees upon.  It was something I really noticed in the game—especially with the character Felix—just what a big presence he had The voice associated with him was exactly what you’d want: friendly My next question is about the pace of the game It’s interesting because it mixes a relaxed pace—when you’re farming doing your daily tasks—with the fast pace of being in the bazaar and trying to sell things at your stall its own analogy for real-life work–life balance there are these two elements within the game One thing that’s very important to us when we’re creating the farm experience for players is that we don’t want to tell them what they can or can’t do We want them to live their farm life the way they want to—to give them the freedom to do what they want with their life While we may suggest what could be good or effective when managing a farm—you know watering your crops so they grow big—we don’t tell players how to live their farm life They can be very busy if they want to and work really hard on the farm or they can just sit in nature and relax if they want to There’s no penalty for that in our game So that is very important to us when creating this game and that is to sell the goods that you have created It does have a faster pace because the customers are walking by and you need to be able to sell to them quickly; you don’t want to make them wait You want to be able to sell all the goods that you have to make your money We wanted to include that kind of difference in pace to create some variety for the player as well and give them some action in the midst of a more relaxed game if they aren’t able to press the button fast enough or they aren’t able to optimize their performance in the bazaar they can still come back next week to the next bazaar and continue to sell So we think that even with having that distinction in action and pace we still want the player to have the feeling that they’re in control of their farm life Something I noticed while exploring the romance aspect is that it’s a major part of the storytelling in the game how the music changes—whether you’re doing relaxed farming tasks or in a romantic scene that’s largely cutscenes and dialogue What’s the thought behind those musical cues and transitions and how do they help enhance and support the storytelling Hikaru Nakano: I’ve personally been working on the Story of Seasons series for a very long time and I must say that many years ago—toward the beginning of the series—music wasn’t actually all that important Part of that was due to hardware limitations but there really weren’t that many tracks in the game so let’s try to have good music for it.” That was about the extent of it With modern hardware like the Nintendo Switch and Steam we now have much greater expressive capabilities we’ve vastly increased the number of tracks in the soundtrack to—just as you said—use all the tools we have to create a rich experience and strong storytelling when we create each title—since we have the capability—we sit down at the development stage and say we want to make sure we have music that fits this moment and this emotion We want to make sure we have music that fits this scene as well.” That combined with the new voice acting and sound effects comes together to create the storytelling and rich that is one of our goals with the current games as well you’re obviously expecting seasons—you’re expecting weather and the impact that might have on the player as the game progresses But what’s interesting is that you’ve made it not just an obstacle for players to overcome but occasionally something that works in their favour—for example How much care is put into the weather in the game and the impact it has on the player Hikaru Nakano: There are various impacts that weather can have on the player in both Grand Bazaar and the Story of Seasons series in general The main categories of weather we have are sunny To give an example of how weather affects gameplay: on a sunny day and your animals will be happy enjoying the nice weather you’ll have to water all your crops—and your workhorses—because of it they may not be happy about being in the rain you don’t have to water the crops because they’re getting watered already So there are various effects that the weather can have on the daily work on the farm Something that I think sounds really fun is if we could increase the amount of weather more and more let’s say you could tell the weather the next day by the color of the sunset on the day before would be really cool in a Story of Seasons game maybe there could be different kinds of snow—like powder snow or icy snow—those kinds of variations But something we have to keep in mind when considering that type of feature is that the more variations you include the harder it becomes for the player to understand the advantages or disadvantages or even to distinguish between the different types of weather we try to maintain consistent categories so the effects of the weather are easy for the player to understand like the ones you mentioned with the windmill if the wind gets too strong and a typhoon—or a hurricane weather in relation to the seasons is something we think about in every Story of Seasons game I’m assuming it’s a typhoon in the Japanese version and a hurricane in the European version Hikaru Nakano: I believe that’s how it works and I’m really excited to see this in full when it comes out if my kids let me play the game Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar releases on Aug 27 and will be available on Nintendo Switch and on PC through Steam For more information about the game and its updates—both in aesthetics and gameplay—check out our article on our experience with the game at the preview event Podcaster and Streamer who specializes in reviews and tutorials for content creators He is also a TV professional with over twenty years in the industry His dedication to content creation and drive to practice what he preaches has led him to create multiple YouTube Channels and regularly consults with other creators to give advice This post may contain affiliate links. Nakano talked modernizing the game for a new audience Grand Bazaar is a reimagining of a DS title What made you decide to revisit this specific entry in the series Hikaru Nakano, Story of Seasons Series Manager: “I’d first like to talk about why we chose this title specifically I would like to choose a past title that was an especially good one so that we can bring that title to a modern audience There are many different opinions that we take into consideration when we make these decisions—there are the other developers our overseas partners—so that we can make sure all of the stakeholders’ opinions are reflected in our decision “So while that’s the general approach of how we choose which past titles to recreate we chose this title due to the timing of when it was released on DS And it’s actually not as well known of a title as some of our other games in the series we think it has a lot of really great elements that we want modern audiences to experience “So when we step back and ask ourselves ‘What’s important for the Story of Seasons series as a whole?,’ we focus on ensuring that the protagonist arrives in a land that’s withered or barren where they’ll work to regrow and create a farm They’ll witness the town grow alongside them And that’s the kind of experience present in this game you can build up a bunch of small objectives to move forward in the game in the way that suits you while still being able to enjoy the farmer life in the way that we as the creators envisioned it.” How closely does this reimagining follow the original game Where have you taken the biggest creative liberties Nakano: “This game is based on the original DS title but we actually created it from the ground up and characters all may feel familiar and nostalgic to the players who have played the original title and taking your items to the bazaar to sell but the breadth and depth of the gameplay represented in those systems have been enhanced and it’ll feel like a big improvement in modern quality compared to the original game The volume of content is also more comparable to a brand new title in the series—everything from the variety of crops and animals is all vastly increased compared to the original title so it should feel very different even for players who have played the original.” some of the key focuses of the game are the gliders and the windmills But to touch a bit upon how the wind affects those things you can fly further on your glider compared to other days The strength of the wind will also affect the speed of which your byproducts are processed through the windmill so there are some dynamic influences in the gameplay systems based on the day-to-day changes of the wind “Another aspect ramped up in this game is the weather events or snowstorms on your farm and daily life has been enhanced compared to past titles They can of course cause a danger to your farm but as long as you make preparations to deal with these incoming events then you can mitigate or prevent any damage that you may face So there are ways to interact with the wind in that way It’s also represented in the expression of the game Like if you go outside on the day that a typhoon or hurricane “One more way that the weather affects the game is that there are many items that you can find on the ground that have either floated in or been uncovered So you may be able to find more big rocks and stuff like that.” Can you explain how the selling system works And how selling has evolved from the original game Nakano: “As with the original Zephyr Town the setting of this game features the bazaar the once famous bazaar has fallen on hard times and has shrunk quite a bit and tourists are no longer coming to the bazaar in Zephyr Town as a result the player comes in and brings whatever they want to sell at the bazaar—whatever they have focused on creating at their farm—and can increase the quality of those items the more they create So if they want to be a milk seller or a vegetable seller the bazaar will prosper and increase in size tourists will come to Zephyr Town and to the bazaar and the townsfolk will become happier and prosper “So that’s the overarching concept of the bazaar but to get into the specifics of how the player actually interacts with it—you take all of the items you have at the farm you can customize your stall to create your own space and then you can sell your items directly to customers attracting them by ringing a bell and directly interacting with them I believe this is the only title in the Story of Seasons series where the player can directly sell the goods they created “As for the differences in the bazaar compared to the original game… I think that if those who have played the original play this game they will feel like the bazaar does have a sense of familiarity—they’ll think this is kind of how it was in the original’—so it won’t feel completely different everything is different from the original is in this iteration of the bazaar but the spirit and the basic concept are the same So users who have played the original game will have a sense of familiarity when playing the new one but we have improved upon and drastically increased the amount of gameplay surrounding the bazaar “So to give just a few examples of that I mentioned that you’re able to customize your bazaar So what that can look like specifically is let’s say you want to focus on becoming a vegetable seller—you create a lot of vegetables—you can customize your bazaar so that your stall actually is better equipped to sell vegetables You can get bonuses for different things that way Another instance is that we mentioned that the number of stalls in the bazaar starts out quite small which will result in more vendors coming to visit the bazaar And so the number of stalls at the bazaar itself will also increase So there are more varieties and kinds of stalls at the bazaar in this version of the game And there are also a variety of characters running those stalls “One last thing that I want to bring up about the bazaar, which is a big change, is that there are now sprites The sprites in Grand Bazaar actually have their own stall at the bazaar and that’s where you get things like the glider They have their own variety of things that they sell and they also help the player at their stall They’ll even do little dances to excite your customers And once you fill up something called the ‘Cheer Meter’ to a certain level then you can enter a state called ‘Cheer Time,’ which is when the sprites will all cheer the player on and continue to do their dance as you’re selling goods which might get them to spend a lot more buying your goods than they would otherwise So there’s a lot of interactions with the sprites “These are just some examples of the improvements we made to the bazaar gameplay that we hope players will enjoy and we hope it makes the bazaar experience overall more exciting.” how much control does the player have over the pricing of their items at bazaar Or can I sell this apple for $100 if I wanted to (Not that anyone would buy an apple for $100 but can you talk a bit about the romance in Grand Bazaar I don’t want to say which character I’m referring to here but when I watch the event scenes with my favorite character it’s really immersive and can make you feel like you’re actually in a relationship with that character I can feel more moved experiencing these event scenes than I have for other characters in previous games comparatively that’s something that I hope players are really able to enjoy in this release.” Is this the “traditional” game that was in development back then you’re referring to when we put out a video talking about the upcoming Story of Seasons games Grand Bazaar is one of the titles we were referring to at that time Some of the video that we played during that segment was from Grand Bazaar I really can’t say much else about any other new titles!” *Gematsu also asked for whether there are plans to release Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar for PlayStation but Marvelous was not able to provide any information beyond what has "description": "With its recycling initiatives the pioneering apparel firm offers an antidote to the world of fast fashion The fashion industry is known for having one of the longest supply chains of any industry and when you marry this together with the fast fashion phenomenon it suddenly becomes one of the most polluting industries as well it was revealed that over 10,000 items of clothing are put into a landfill every 5 minutes What role do you think companies like yours can play in reducing overall pollution and waste inherent in the fashion industry considering you are disrupting these trends We can’t really have a huge impact in terms of what we do; it is more of a case that we must take baby steps on a daily basis Our business relates to scrap fabric and offcuts things that are considered industrial waste and I remember when I first learned these facts I felt a sense of urgency at the time I really couldn't do anything After being approached by a paper manufacturing company one day I decided to do something about industrial waste and we decided as a company that we could recycle our scraps into waterproof sheets and now we are able to recycle 100% of our scrap Small media outlets have also begun to cover our activities and I believe we have inspired others not necessarily to compete but to join our efforts This has resulted in a community of companies joining forces to reduce waste as much as possible I would like to provide a little more background on the establishment of this community There is a price tag associated with disposing industrial waste and thanks to our efforts we have been able to reduce disposal costs by JPY 2 million we can contribute to the preservation of the environment Is that JPY 2 million for recycling disposal costs the fast fashion industry has almost been like a race to the bottom when it comes to providing consumers with the latest trends at very cost-effective prices Retailers like Zara and H&M are becoming famous for this you will see that Uniqlo is still fast fashion but leverages a quality perception Japanese fashion has one of the most integrated supply chains in the world and you can still go to places like Kyogo prefecture to get high-quality fashion items that are produced locally Do you think the fast fashion business model can be maintained moving forward what is Japan’s differentiating factor in the fast fashion business model that is a very difficult question to answer We support those fast fashion businesses through our manufacturing What I feel at the moment in regard to fast fashion and manufacturing is that these items of clothing don’t necessarily make everyone happy that is an embodiment of happiness; however “Is this the right thing?” I am not trying to deny what they are doing in the future I think we have to think about the appropriate amount and timing In order to manufacture in an efficient manner we need to observe consumers and understand better what they want I think that considering these elements is very important we try to make sure that we have the right amount of governance and timing We do business with clients that fall into this category so these elements are very important to us The important point that we are focusing on is productivity increasing productivity will also increase efficiency I think there is a need for some fast fashion outlets to change their minds a little and think more about the appropriate amount of products to produce as well as the timing of when they produce those products I think there is a middle ground that can be achieved it just comes down to fast fashion houses and their willingness to compromise a little In that middle ground are clear paths to do business Your company received an award in 2022 for your sustainable approach and you were selected as one of 100 textile companies for the next generation You’ve placed yourselves as essentially a model case for other companies in the sector to work towards Across your three factories you’ve achieved a 100% textile recycling rate Why have you positioned yourself as a model case now What challenges have you faced as a pioneer in the sector since we understand that you really don’t have the same resources as some of the giants of the industry and although we were aware that these initiatives were something we had to do at that time I wasn’t paying too much attention a professor from Hosei University came to visit us and it was in that meeting that some of us at Nakano Apparel started to think that there must be some significance for SMEs like ourselves to raise our voices and talk about things that need to be talked about in order to create a new business model In Europe and America there are certainly more people that are gearing towards more sustainable production and industries and I think that since we are a small company there is significance and meaning when we raise our voice We felt that perhaps we could be trailblazers and stand out from the crowd As part of our initiatives we created items using reused or recycled paper many of the big players talk a big game about sustainability it is front-and-center on their website; however that mindset hasn’t really permeated It means that sustainability as a concern hasn’t really penetrated the industry as a whole I think that our voice can reach loud and clear with overseas brands since there is a consciousness overseas to secure a sustainable future Japanese companies need to understand that this mindset is inevitable and companies are going to have to start running these kinds of initiatives themselves One of the messages that a professor from Hosei University relayed to us was about Apple In particular I read an article saying that Apple is now demanding sustainability and accountability from every part of its supply chain structure “What if one of your clients asks the same thing of Nakano Apparel what will you do?” That really hit home You mentioned that Japanese companies are guilty of “Greenwashing;” saying that they are following sustainable initiatives Has this caused you to pivot more towards foreign companies since they have a better mindset when it comes to sustainability I do really feel that they practice what they preach They are demanding sustainability and accountability in their supply chains and vice versa Supply chain players are responding to those requirements very few sewing factories started these initiatives on their own and this is one of the reasons why our factories in Vietnam gained a lot of traction they say that they don’t really care What they are telling the media and the reality of their practices are completely different overseas brands are more conscious and have a higher awareness there are companies like Tesla springing up so we are now reaching a point where it's embarrassing to wear an SDG badge since it has become the accepted norm in many countries and there are certainly concerns on our behalf that we might get buried in the prevalent narratives It stresses the need for our company to look globally and stay one step ahead One initiative that really pleases me is our installed solar panels and our biomass boiler we can procure about 60% of the annual electricity needed for our plant These installed facilities ended up inspiring our staff members to take action themselves They started sorting out different types of garbage They also contracted a lunch catering company that uses reusable items rather than one-use ones It pleased me so much that the initiatives we took as a company inspired staff members to take their only small steps as a community It isn’t just in sustainability that you are taking new steps Sewing is a traditionally very labor heavy industry but your firm has begun to integrate new digital technologies and automation into your sewing processes This is something that has become very relevant here in Japan How have you adapted your production processes to integrate new digital technologies into your sewing processes and automation is still very much a work in progress and I think it will take a couple of years before we get there there were no DX technologies in this industry there are digital tools between us and our clients; however when it comes to communicating with sewing companies We would send PDF files to them via email and then print them out before they would start work I think one of the only advancements was the switch from fax to email I think it proves that there is room for us to improve our DX A very huge transition is possible because there is basically nothing there yet We achieve this by offshoring our factories to China and Southeast Asia We didn’t pay a lot of attention to what we could do here in Japan to increase efficiency and cost-to-benefits I think this might be a mistake of the fashion industry I think with the combination of digitalization and automation I think it is still possible for us to do manufacturing here in Japan What we have learned here can also be applied to China and Vietnam we can achieve high-productivity and high efficiency and then take those lessons offshore This is something that is still in the works but an initiative we are following with strong conviction In order for us to implement these activities That first stage in the fashion industry is pattern drawing and cutting so we have worked with a system developer on patterning so that we can send digital data to factories We also have a proprietary system called NSYS Factories can access the software they need from NSYS we can eliminate the need for pen and paper This is another way we can reduce the use of paper There are many workers in the factories who have never touched a keyboard instead relying on their senses and their fingers We believe that by freeing up those resources we can repurpose them for more productive things like development and quality control we have to create an environment where workers can feel incentivized to utilize digital technologies this can lead to bigger customer reforms as well | | | Previous Next a lot of sewing is still done by women at sewing machines We know that there is robotics that can replicate these tasks Is the technology on par with what humans can do When we think about automation and robotics our line of thinking is that it won’t be 100% of processes parts of the process that will be handled by hand Even if we implement some kinds of machines Ultimately we would like to create a world where productivity is doubled or tripled and in Yamagata we are already achieving that We are looking to expand this success to other locations we believe it is a better approach to combine the human element with automation in order to increase productivity and efficiency Partnerships are often mentioned in our interviews as key to innovation and the penetration of new markets Are you currently looking for any international partnerships it is very important for us to find a partner who can resonate and who can empathize with our stance towards SDGs what is really important is that leading up to that path we forge close relationships and ties with various players This is something we’ve learned the hard way over the past few years with our work in Vietnam and back when we started we didn’t know many Korean players and now our supply chain in Vietnam is very enriched when we look at the apparel industries in Europe and North America we need to keep in mind the lessons we’ve learned in Vietnam You’ve mentioned production facilities abroad today but just then you also mentioned looking towards Europe and the US Are there any particular countries that you’ve identified as key to your international expansion I think how we’ve positioned ourselves in Vietnam is already enough Instead of increasing the number of factories we operate we would like to maximize the productivity in the three facilities we already have When it comes to other markets such as South Korea We are looking for interesting market opportunities in those locations Imagine that we came back in 2036 and had this interview all over again What goals or dreams do you hope to achieve by the time we come back for that new interview Among management this is a topic we discuss constantly we would like to increase it five fold by 2036 It is likely that I will still be here in 2036 but I also hope to see new talent and powerful minds operating this company I would like to build upon that foundation and find new and exciting business opportunities in the fashion industry I think this is possible in Vietnam since we have opportunities in Southeast Asia to introduce products to local markets This is why we are trying to build a new business model where we can directly sell to customers with our own brand We have been working on our own men’s high-fashion brand for about eight years now I think by leveraging our OEM and ODM experience we can create products that are more mass-market For more information, visit: http://nakano-apparel.co.jp For more information, visit: http://nakano-apparel.co.jp behind the murder of Mayor Nakano The issue ended with a furious Batman beating up Gordon who had pulled a gun on him their decades of friendship seemingly shattered Today's Batman #155 provides some fairly conclusive answers to the mystery surrounding Nakano's murder and Jim Gordon's murky recent past while also inching the storyline about Bruce's possible secret brother William forward It's a terrific issue in what's shaping up to be a really intriguing final story arc from Chip Zdarsky and Jorge Fornés Batman #155 opens with an extended flashback to 13 weeks prior Gordon and Bullock's detective agency is working a routine infidelity case which turns out to have been filed by the mayor's wife Gordon investigates but finds no evidence that Nakano is stepping out on her the two form a close bond – one that quickly takes a turn for the unprofessional when Gordon saves her from some assassins the two embark on a passionate affair of their own Nakano eventually finds out about his wife's infidelity and punishes Gordon by having him replaced by Vandal Savage leading to his eventual alliance with Bullock Jim eventually confronts Nakano in a meeting that ends with the latter shot dead and Batman's own certainly that the killer surely can't be his friend is working to sell us on the idea that Gordon's telling the truth Batman investigates further and finds evidence that Gordon really is the killer an explanation for this alarming development Gordon reveals to Batman that he barely remembers the events of the night in question but he wanted Batman to investigate so that he would have a clear answer to what happened one way or another Just as Vandal Savage's cops bust in to take the Dark Knight down Batman realises that there's something amiss with Gordon's glasses he finds evidence of the Mad Hatter's mind control technology – clearly Jim has been used as an assassin without knowing it But why would Jervis Tetch want to take down Nakano Bruce quickly puts two and two together and realises that the Hatter isn't behind all this He'd previously noticed that the design of the new NygmaTech logo awkwardly looked like there was an extra T in there spelling out NygmaTetch – a clue designed to taunt Batman Elsewhere in the issue the matter of Bruce's supposed long-lost brother William Pureford is also briefly addressed It turns out that Leonid Kull (who we already know is a member of the Court of Owls) is representing him legally but uses it as a chance to sneak a tracker onto Kull's shoes There's only two issues of Chip Zdarsky's run on the title left Here's everything you need to know about Batman's mysterious Court of Owls which is quite a long time if you stop and think about it At Future he launched the scary movie magazine Horrorville and has written for every issue of SFX magazine for well over a decade His music writing has appeared in The Quietus TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police this week arrested the male owner of a Chinese restaurant in Nakano Ward following the discovery of his father’s corpse in their residence. Just prior to the apprehension of 56-year-old Nobuhiko Suzuki earlier this month, he had attempted suicide, according to the Nakano Police Station, reports Jiji Press (Apr. 17). From around January 2023 to April 6, Suzuki allegedly hid the body of his father, Keigo, aged in his 80s, in the closet of the residence, located in the Yayoicho area. Upon his arrest on suspicion of abandoning a corpse, Suzuki admitted to the allegations. “When I got home, my father was collapsed. It was too much hassle to hold a funeral,” he told police. The discovery took place on April 6. A resident living near the Chinese restaurant visited a police box nearby. “The restaurant has not been open for about a week,” the person said. A police officer who visited the apartment discovered Suzuki bleeding from his neck following a suicided attempt. After revealing that his father was dead, he said, “I hid him in the closet.” A search of the premises revealed skeletal remains in a closet. When asked why he abandoned his father’s body, the suspect said, “When my mother died around 2010, I got tired of dealing with relatives and the police.” He also said, “I felt sorry for my father, but I gradually became numb to it. In the summer, I dealt with it by using insecticide and deodorants.” The Chinese restaurant was founded by the suspect’s grandfather about 70 years ago. After Keigo retired, the suspect ran it alone. He said, “I ran out of savings, my parents died, and I was pessimistic about my future. So, I attempted suicide.” The suspect is believed to have stabbed himself five times in the neck with a kitchen knife when he attempted suicide. He was hospitalized thereafter. Police arrested him upon his release on April 14. On March 16, 2025, at the Tokyo Dome, the Hanshin Tigers secured a strong preseason victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers, triumphing with a score of 3-0. Central to this impressive display was infielder Takumu Nakano, who not only delivered at the plate but also showcased his defensive prowess. During the pivotal fourth inning, with no outs and a runner on first base, Nakano struck his first hit against both teams, making contact with Dodger pitcher Blake Snell's low curveball. This hit, which he expertly placed to center field, was significant as it set up opportunities for his teammates. "I focused on making contact with the bat, and it resulted in the ball flying to the right spot," Nakano reflected on his hit, clearly pleased with the outcome. His effort did not go unnoticed; Nakano's hit led to star outfielder Yoshio Satoh hitting a three-run homer, giving the Tigers the lead. Following this moment, Nakano continued to contribute offensively, hitting another single to left field during the fifth inning, solidifying his status as the game's standout performer. Kiza, who has been working on refining his pitching mechanics, appreciated Nakano's defensive skills, noting, "Having players like him really alleviates the pressure on the mound. You can trust them to make those difficult plays." Thanks to this defense and Kiza’s pitching performance of five innings with only one hit allowed and no runs, the game remained tight, ensuring Hanshin's early lead was protected. Head coach of the Hanshin Tigers, who had high hopes for this match against such formidable opponents, expressed his satisfaction post-game. Nakano, who last season emerged as one of the league’s defensive highlights, echoed this sentiment by saying, "Today, I was able to do what I was supposed to do," emphasizing his commitment not just to individual performance but also to team success. Having contributed to Japan’s World Baseball Classic triumph by providing leadership as the players' association president, Nakano’s experience shone through, making him instrumental both offensively and defensively. His dual-threat capability became apparent as his teammates rallied behind him during this exhibition game. With their eyes set on the upcoming season, the Hanshin Tigers indicated this game is just one of many promising performances to come. Nakano’s play served as both motivation for his teammates and as reassurance to fans about the team's potential strength. With such dual offensive and defensive capabilities solidified by Nakano, plus the reliable pitching of Kiza, the Tigers appear ready to make competitive strides heading forward. Their success against the Dodgers—a team stacked with Major League talent—will only bolster their confidence as they approach the regular season. Overall, the Hanshin Tigers’ performance against the Dodgers showcased the combination of youthful talent and seasoned professionals working flawlessly together. Nakano was not just the player of the game; he represented the future of Hanshin baseball, embodying the balance of exciting skill on the field. Looking forward, fans and analysts alike will be closely monitoring Nakano’s progression, and his impact on both the batting lineup and defense strategy will be pivotal this coming season. Will this victory act as the springboard for what could be another thrilling season for the Hanshin Tigers? Only time will tell as they continue to build momentum from this match. Similarly, when the right hand is moved passively, a proprioceptive signal activates the left motor cortex via somatosensory area 3a and the cerebellar vermis (23), leading to inhibition of the right motor cortex through interhemispheric inhibition (24) increasing muscle activity during passive movement the cortex might become part of the network increasing muscle activity The study protocol was approved by the Ethics Committee of the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology and the MRI Safety Committee of the Center for Information and Neural Networks (CiNet; no We explained the details of the present study to all participants before the experiment and they then provided written informed consent The study was conducted according to the principles and guidelines of the Declaration of Helsinki (1975) To investigate the neural substrates underlying the IN task, brain activity was measured with a 3 Tesla functional MRI during the above three tasks. Using an image analysis software of statistical parametric mapping, we preprocessed individual images, spatially smoothed them with a 4 mm Gaussian filter, and conducted statistical analyses (see Supplementary material) We adopted a voxel-wise threshold of p < 0.005 and evaluated the significance of brain activations in terms of the spatial extent of the activations in the entire brain or in small volume correction [SVC; p < 0.05 Since these activations were observed only during the IN task these can be considered IN task-related motor-cortical activations and are likely associated with sensory-motor association (A) Bilateral motor-cortical activations (red) when comparing the IN task with the LA and RP tasks The left and right motor cortices (orange) in which activity enhanced functional coupling with the right or left motor-cortical cluster (red) (B) Brain activity in the peaks of the left and right motor-cortical clusters in each task (C) The left and right motor cortices (pink) in which activity significantly correlated with the EMG activity during the IN task (D) Interparticipant correlation between the left or right M1 activity and log value of EMG activity The results indicate that the IN task-related bilateral motor-cortical activities are related to the EMG increase during the IN task capability of residual tissue associating motor and proprioceptive signals would be the key We expect that the IN task may be effective in the acute and subacute phases of stroke when the brain spontaneously shifts to the bilaterally active mode (2). We assume that moving the immobile hand from the acute and subacute phases of stroke may decrease the risk of excessive interhemispheric inhibition from the contralesional (intact) motor cortex to the ipsilesional one, as shown in chronic phase (16) such early phase intervention might decrease the risk of spasticity or rigidity progression caused by long-term immobility of the paretic hand The bilaterally active mode of the left and right motor cortices observed in healthy older adults is similar to that observed after stroke When the bilateral motor-cortical activation is a cause for the clumsiness of movement when a stroke patient becomes able to manage to move the paretic hand training both hands to perform different movements could improve his/her interhemispheric inhibition and hand dexterity one could expect that the series of proposed interventions give a beneficial effect on hand motor functions of certain types of stroke patients Transition of the left and right motor cortices from the bilaterally active mode to the left–right independent mode This is a rule of typical development of hand motor function and also a common feature of motor function recovery after stroke Proposed interventions during recovery are shown at right bottom The transition of the motor cortices from the bilaterally active mode to the left–right independent mode is a common feature of motor function recovery after stroke (2, 4), and also is a rule of development of hand motor function (Figure 3), which everyone has experienced during the developmental process (9, 10) The habilitation of “re-habilitation” means “to gain ability,” and it is during the developmental period that the most ability is gained in a person’s lifetime rehabilitation according to developmental rules may be the most natural and effective way for the brain to reacquire abilities taking advantage of the brain’s spontaneous recovery process and referring to its developmental rules may be There is less parental supervision in this film than you see in an average John Hughes movie these teens hardly spend any time working or studying during their summer break—maybe a little they keep quite busy with their own project: making a movie  When Yu Mizuguchi sees Kei Sekino taking pictures in the park she decides he should serve as the cameraman on the movie she wants to shoot Mizuguchi is not the type to take “no” for an answer and Sekino has a hard time saying it to play the romantic co-lead opposite Mizuguchi’s friend the on-screen couple becomes an off-screen couple as well Sekino ruins the potential symmetry when he cluelessly invites Mizuguchi’s estranged friend and former bandmate Alisa Ogawa to handle the film’s sound recording Nakano clearly implies there is more to Mizuguchi’s strained relationship with Ogawa then either is willing to reveal it is obvious to everyone that Sekino carries a torch for Mizuguchi it is time to try another ending (or a retake even though they are sometimes prompted by scenes of Sekino editing their work Nakano appears to be having fun with narrative forms in much the same way Hong Sang-soo did in his more playfully structured films it is a mistake to get hung up on Nakano’s narrative gamesmanship at the expense of his affectionate portrayal of youthful exuberance and old-fashioned teen angst You can practically smell the flowers and feel the summer sun on your face throughout Retake but the teen characters still keenly experience a wide range of emotions and resent slights (both real and exaggerated) Mizuguchi’s supplying gentle comic relief as Aihara and Hashimoto Areina Takano arguably delivers the film’s subtlest and most complex performance as Ogawa.Thematically Retake might remind some Japan Cuts patrons of Kazuya Konaka’s Single8 a thoroughly charming film that screened at last year’s festival about a group of teens who decide to remake Star Wars for a class project but end up producing an entirely original and much more personally meaningful film Retake is less interested in the film-within-the-film than the relationships between the teens but the similar concept remains an equally solid foundation to build upon.Arguably Nakano’s teens act like Gen Z’ers who inhabit a Gen X kind of world (updated with modern technology) They just want to do their own thing heedless of the rest of the world since there are largely left to their own independent devices it is hard not to feel nostalgic watching Retake Nakano taps into universal teen attitudes and neuroses Recommended for its
