Scott Ritto is an industry veteran who has seen it all in his 35-plus years in the insurance business
he was introduced to risk management and never looked back
while managing risk for a group of shopping malls
Today he sits as VP of risk management at Kilroy Realty
Ritto explained his philosophy of focusing on creating a risk culture so everyone in the organization understands how to mitigate risk: “One person can’t do it all or drive all change
I use a commonsense approach and explain risk management principles
make it so a hundred people are focused on moving the dial.”
Ritto likes to be closely involved with his clients and carrier partners
and his work at the retail shopping mall group was no different
helped with risk transfer and handled general mall risk management issues
along with larger corporate challenges like managing risk for the corporate aircraft
He faced a challenging situation when a mall in his group suffered a large-scale fire after a hostage situation inside one of its stores
The SWAT team was forced to fire tear gas into the store to rescue the hostage
Ritto worked closely with the tenants on their business interruption claims throughout a long and complex claims situation
Ritto has been active in the local and national RIMS organization since the early 1990s
He currently serves as the president of the LA RIMS chapter
He has worked with local universities to help develop their risk management coursework and volunteers time with RIMS’ student advisory council
Ritto has this advice for students and those just entering the risk management industry: “Find something you really enjoy and that’s going to make you more successful
mind and body into promoting what you’re trying to do
“Risk management is a career where you’ll learn something new all the time — different exposures
new products in the marketplace and what the industry is doing
Risk management can make a difference and add value.”
described Ritto’s work giving back to the industry over his decades-long career as “next level,” reflecting on the conferences Ritto has organized
his volunteer activities and the structured scholarships he has created for risk management students to attend the national RIMS conference
“I’ve been doing this a long time,” Healy said
“and there’s no better champion or face of risk management than Scott Ritto.” &

Mercer Marsh Benefits report details the top people risks facing companies
from tech talent shortages to rising health and benefit costs
“We’ve seen a growing number of SEC enforcement actions tied to how companies handle disclosures related to cyber incidents,” said Meredith Brown
it’s critical for companies to regularly review and refine their cyber incident response plans and disclosure processes to ensure compliance.”
The heightened enforcement has many public companies asking how their insurance coverage would respond — especially as cyber incidents become more complex
are stepping up with coverage enhancements designed to address this uncertainty
“Traditional cyber policies typically tie regulatory actions to specific privacy events,” Brown said
“The trigger is usually a violation of a privacy regulation
but SEC regulations are not privacy regulations.”
This creates an avenue for enforcement around cyber events that are not contemplated by cyber policies
As the SEC steps up its enforcement activity
more insureds are likely to submit these types of claims
Many of these claims could also have a D&O component as well since SEC actions often name an individual
“While D&O policies may cover certain exposures
they often don’t address the associated risks and there could be a gap in coverage depending on the focus of the enforcement action,” Brown said
public companies must enhance their risk management efforts — especially in the immediate aftermath of a cyberattack
While many companies already have incident response plans – in addition to cybersecurity professionals and attorneys who are well versed in breach response – they should consider bringing in legal experts who have experience with SEC disclosure requirements
External counsel can help ensure accuracy in disclosures and reduce the risk of increased regulatory attention
This support is especially valuable given the relatively recent and still-evolving nature of the SEC’s rules
Companies should also closely monitor emerging technologies
as the SEC appears to be poised to pursue these types of investigations
their risk exposure grows and so must their preparation
“The SEC announced a Cyber and Emerging Technologies Unit to help protect retail investors,” Brown said
“Their focus includes compliance in the use of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence.” She added
“This move reinforces the need for companies to strengthen their incident response frameworks and ensure the proper disclosure of cybersecurity incidents.”
To help companies navigate this increasingly complex environment
QBE has introduced two new coverage enhancements
The first is an SEC Disclosure Costs Coverage
This enhancement covers costs associated with engaging external legal counsel to advise on post cyberattack compliance with SEC regulations
This coverage is “crucial,” Brown explained
because legal experts with SEC experience can help companies understand exactly what is required by the SEC post incident
The second is an Enhanced SEC Regulatory Coverage
This enhancement provides coverage for violations of SEC regulations—addressing a gap in traditional cyber policies
which typically only cover privacy-related regulatory violations
“This enhancement directly addresses that gap,” Brown said
these additions help companies feel confident they have the coverage they need to protect their businesses as the SEC’s approach continues to evolve.”
The response from brokers has already been “very positive,” Brown said
indicating the market’s demand for cyber insurance solutions that better protect public companies

Sometimes, in life, you just have to throw caution to the wind and go big. For Lisa Bui, owner of 6-1-Pho, that time is now.
Yesterday, 6-1-Pho officially introduced its Pho-Ritto, a new dish combining the best parts of pho with the portability and indulgence of the burrito.
“In the summer time, hot soup isn’t as appetizing so I saw this on the West Coast and decided to try it out,” Biu told 614Now.com. “It’s a better option for summer and another reason for someone to learn about Vietnamese food.”

The Japan Racing Association announced plans for large-scale renovations of Miho Training Center
where approximately 100 trainers and 2,000 horses in training are based
in an effort to improve the performance of horses at the facility
The JRA began operation of Ritto Training Center near Kyoto in 1969
Miho is the second training center established by the JRA in 1978 in the quiet village 43 miles northeast of Tokyo
all JRA racehorses must be registered and trained at Miho or Ritto
the horses trained at Ritto have outperformed those stabled at Miho on the racetrack
and the JRA has sought ways to bring the facilities into balance
the uphill training track will be extended and the difference of height
will be increased from 18 meters to 32 meters
The woodchip oval track will also be renovated
there is a gradient of 1% through the homestretch
which means horses must train in a clockwise direction
The renovation calls for leveling of the track
so horses can train in both clockwise and counter clockwise directions
Sign up for BloodHorse Daily
The northern track will be closed to provide additional barn areas with spacious stalls and large yards, where hot walking machines will be built.
More details of the renovations will be announced by the JRA during a March 5 press conference.
How the “pho-ritto” at Cris & John in North Dallas is made
Restaurateurs Cristina Mendez and John Pham didn’t set out to confuse everyone’s taste buds, but that’s how it worked out. A few months ago, the duo opened Cris & John, a new Vietnamese street food eatery in North Dallas that serves up one of the city’s most interesting dishes: the phorrito.
In addition to other “Tex-Viet-Mex” fusion dishes like horchata served with tapioca pearls and rice paper quesadillas, the phoritto holds all the flavors of a traditional, steaming bowl of pho inside a giant warm tortilla, and all for $7.
Stuffed with noodles, veggies, beef, and a top-secret sauce, this burrito-pho hybrid is a reason to drive north. Take a step-by-step look at how this vibrantly-flavored dish is made courtesy of Eater photographer Kathy tran.

“When I saw that I was two shots behind heading to the back nine I knew I needed to go low to win
My goal was to shoot 30 (6-under-par),” Hill said
“I didn’t shoot 30 but did shoot 31 (5-under) which turned out to be good enough.”

The racehorses of Central Horse Racing are trained for racing at the Miura Training Center in Ibaraki Prefecture or at the stables of the Ritto Training Center in Shika Prefecture
but in recent years horses (Kansai horses) trained at Ritto I overwhelm a horse trained in Miura (Kanto horse)
The most important factor behind this is the slope course at Kurito Toresen
and the slope course is steeper in angle than Miura's
and is believed to help enhance the cardiorespiratory function of horses
You After seeing the appearance of each horse scheduled to enter
on the Sakaji Course's Sakai Harukamado (walking path to relax the horse)
The inside of the slope stand is like this
You can see the slope course straight in front of you
and the other side of the course you have just visited in the far right
The slope course is in the form of coming up from the back to the front of the photo
Something like a green camera is attached on the course
but this is a device that reads the bar code attached to the horse number which comes up and measures the time of the horse
The camera on the right side of the monitor captures the 600m
Reporters in the sports newspaper take note of these numbers and use them in articles
There were horses just coming up the course
The relationship between the racetrack and Kuramado looks like this
It will be that there are many horses that challenge the training on slopes from now on
This is the side that went up the slope course
I just saw the figure of Danon Shanty who finished the slope course
Then there was a horse that was not riding a jockey
Apparently there was a dropped horse on the way
Horses weighing about 400 kg to 500 kg run at about 60 km per hour
which is very dangerous if you hit another horse
and some trainers and training assistants have been kicked and killed
It looks like we were shooting that scene after Danon Shanty and others had finished running
The racehorse jumps out of this gate at the time of the race
in this way it is tested that you can really get out of the gate at the time of the race
and it is a system that you can not run without passing
from the first to the fourth of the gate is for the test (for production)
from the fifth there is silence (no sound when the gate opens) for practice
and the place where the number is larger is the production The gate is wider than the ones
The tests that were being conducted at this time seemed to be smooth
I left the slope course and came to another stand (right-handed stand)
A joint press conference was held here for Derby
and many trainers and horse racing reporters were packed
It should be a document that there are various types of horseshoes
I went outside because the press conference seemed to be delayed a little
it was a helmet of silver (white) instead of blue
but this is a proof of the Baba preservation committee
This blue roofed building weighs its horses and weighing stations
Horse Weight One of the important factors in knowing the condition of a horse
The last is a visit to Shirai Shoshosha. There are very few opportunities for the general public to enter the stables, but what is the situation in the stables? ・ Continuing Visiting the stables of Akira Shirai, a master's degree graduate student
Acer, iPad counter tablet and high-end smartphone "Stream" announced
I have seen Japan Derby training exhibition at the Kurito Training Center training racehorses
