The Michigan Wolverines football program is still going through the process of finding out its fate from the NCAA related to the sign-stealing scandal that rocked the 2023 season and culminated in a national championship
The latest batch of developments comes via a proposed self-sanctioned two-game suspension for head coach Sherrone Moore for the 2025 season
set for Weeks 3 and 4 against Central Michigan and at Nebraska
Here’s a timeline of where we started, developments along the way and some of the punishments to have come down already.
The Big Ten also informed future opponents on Michigan’s schedule of the allegations.
Oct 19, 2023: ESPN was the first to report that analyst Connor Stalions was at the center of the case and the ringleader of an “elaborate” alleged system to steal signs.
Oct 20, 2023: Michigan suspends Stalions with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
Oct 21, 2023: Days after Michigan State considered not playing its annual rivalry game due to player safety concerns, Michigan went into East Lansing and won 49-0 to move to 8-0 on the season.
Oct 23, 2023: Media reports revealed that Stalions bought tickets in his own name for over 30 games at 12 Big Ten schools from 2021-23. The reports said that he sent tickets to at least three people across the country and that there was a “significant paper trail,” per ESPN. Further reports said that one Big Ten school asseted via video surveillance that someone who sat in seats in Stalions’ name appeared to film the home team’s sideline the whole game.
Over the next few days, reports would emerge that non-Big Ten schools and potential College Football Playoff opponents also had records of tickets bought in Stalions’ name.
Oct. 27, 2023: A former Division II player and assistant told ESPN’s Dan Murphy that Stalions paid him “a couple hundred dollars” and give him a ticket to a Michigan home game in exchange for recorded signals. He stated the videos he took were on his personal cell phone and sent to a shared iPhone album.
Oct 31, 2023: Central Michigan announces an investigation into a photograph of a man who appeared to be Stalions standing on the sideline of its Sept. 1 opener at Michigan State. The man was dressed in full CMU gear and had a bench credential. Head coach Jim McElwain said they were “unaware” of it and did not condone the alleged behavior.
Nov. 1, 2023: Big Ten coaches held a 90-minute phone call with commissioner Tony Petitti and urged the conference to take immediate action against Michigan. Head coach Jim Harbaugh was on the call but hung up when the allegations were discussed. Petitti held a conference call with Big Ten athletic directors the following day.
Nov. 2, 2023: Michigan President Santa Ono sent an email to Petitti, urging due process before the Big Ten decided on any punishments.
Nov. 3, 2023: Stalions resigns from Michigan football, citing not wanting to be a distraction to the team’s run. His attorney said: “Connor also wants to make it clear that, to his knowledge, neither Coach Harbaugh, nor any other coach or staff member, told anyone to break any rules or were aware of improper conduct regarding the recent allegations of advanced scouting.”
Nov. 6, 2023: The Big Ten informs Michigan it could face punishment from the league, citing the conference’s sportsmanship policy. Athletic director Warde Manuel stayed back from College Football Playoff committee meetings due to “attending to important matters regarding the ongoing investigation into our football program.”
Nov. 16, 2023: Michigan’s legal battle continued into the next week, but the school would back off after Harbaugh accepted the suspension in exchange for the Big Ten concluding its investigation. It was his second three-game suspension of the year after sitting out the first three games due to recruiting violations from a separate case.
Nov. 17, 2023: Linebackers coach Chris Partridge was fired for allegedly instructing players on how to respond to investigators, per reports.

2023: Michigan closes out its 2023 regular season with a dramatic 30-24 win over the Ohio State Buckeyes
The victory sent them to their third-straight Big Ten Championship game and allowed Harbaugh to return the following week to the field
2024: The Wolverines close out their season a perfect 15-0 despite the controversy
beating Washington 34-13 to win the College Football National Championship
2024: NCAA president Charlie Baker states that Michigan won its national title “fair and square” despite the allegations
2024: Harbaugh leaves Michigan to return to the NFL to coach the Los Angeles Chargers
2024: NCAA hands Harbaugh a 4-year show-cause for the recruiting violations (‘Burgergate’) case that includes a one-year suspension
The NCAA had previously put Michigan on three years of probation along with a fine and recruiting limits after a negotiated resolution to that case
He asserted that he did not fail to comply with the investigators
2024: Weeks after reports of a draft notice of allegations were reported
The document stated that 7 members of the 2023 team
Among the accusations is Moore deleting 52 text messages from a thread with Stalions in October 2023
though the messages were recovered via additional imaging
Moore stated he looked toward those being released
Deleting the texts were said to be a potential Level II violation
which could potentially bring about a suspension due to his status as a repeat violator (Moore served a 1-game suspension early in 2023 as part of COVID-era recruiting violations)
Stalions and former staffer Denard Robinson were all accused of committing Level I violations
Michigan as a school was also named as a Level I violator
Former assistants Jesse Minter and Steve Clinkscale
were also named and accused of recruiting violations unrelated to the Stalions’ saga
2024: Netflix releases “Untold: Sign Stealer” documentary featuring Stalions
who spent the majority of the program defending his actions and repeating claims that sign-stealing is rampant in college football
who worked on a resolution to their cases with the NCAA separate from the Michigan
were issued show-cases for their involvement in the recruiting violations from the Aug
2025: Reports emerge that Michigan will self-impose a two-game suspension for Moore in response to last August’s NOA and allegations of non-compliance with the deleted text message thread with Stalions
Moore will miss the Week 3 and 4 games against Central Michigan and at Nebraska
Moore will not be able to coach the team for the two weeks he is out
There are also rumblings of additional punishments for Moore and Michigan, reported Monday by TheWolverine.com’s Chris Balas.
Furthermore, Michigan’s hearing with the committee on infractions is reportedly set for June 6-7, so we could have a better idea of what the program is facing over the next month or so and ahead of the 2025 season.

Rotten Tomatoes remains incredibly important when it comes to whether moviegoers decide to check out the latest releases in theaters
it's not uncommon for studios to tout scores as proudly as star ratings
While the Marvel Cinematic Universe has delivered hit after hit since Iron Man was released in 2008
the Multiverse Saga has proven not even Marvel Studios is immune from the wrath of critics
That's apparent from this Saga delivering not one
Is the Multiverse Saga really as bad as some would have you believe
but how does this era of storytelling stack up in terms of those all-important percentage scores on Rotten Tomatoes
Captain America: Brave New World didn't fare too well
is being hailed as a return to form for Marvel Studios
Critics Consensus: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania mostly lacks the spark of fun that elevated earlier adventures
but Jonathan Majors' Kang is a thrilling villain poised to alter the course of the MCU
Critics Consensus: An ambitious superhero epic that soars as often as it strains
Eternals takes the MCU in intriguing -- and occasionally confounding -- new directions
Critics Consensus: Anthony Mackie capably takes up Cap's mantle and shield
but Brave New World is too routine and overstuffed with uninteresting easter eggs to feel like a worthy standalone adventure for this new Avengers leader
and elevated by the chemistry of its three leads
The Marvels is easy to enjoy in the moment despite its cluttered story and jumbled tonal shifts
Thor: Love and Thunder feels like Ragnarok redux -- but overall
it offers enough fast-paced fun to make this a worthy addition to the MCU
Critics Consensus: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness labors under the weight of the sprawling MCU
but Sam Raimi's distinctive direction casts an entertaining spell
Critics Consensus: Ryan Reynolds makes himself at home in the MCU with acerbic wit while Hugh Jackman provides an Adamantium backbone to proceedings in Deadpool & Wolverine
an irreverent romp with a surprising soft spot for a bygone era of superhero movies
Critics Consensus: Black Widow's deeper themes are drowned out in all the action
but it remains a solidly entertaining standalone adventure that's rounded out by a stellar supporting cast
Critics Consensus: A galactic group hug that might squeeze a little too tight on the heartstrings
the final Guardians of the Galaxy is a loving last hurrah for the MCU's most ragtag family
Critics Consensus: A poignant tribute that satisfyingly moves the franchise forward
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever marks an ambitious and emotionally rewarding triumph for the MCU
Critics Consensus: Assembling a ragtag band of underdogs with Florence Pugh as their magnetic standout
Thunderbolts* refreshingly returns to the tried-and-true blueprint of the MCU's best adventures
Critics Consensus: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings isn't entirely free of Marvel's familiar formula
but this exciting origin story expands the MCU in more ways than one
No Way Home expands the franchise's scope and stakes without losing sight of its humor and heart
Victim's Mum faces agonising decision in lengthy fight for justice which has yet to pay off
NEWSPAPER SECTION: News
Nearly 11 years after a horrific car crash changed her family's life forever
is now faced with a devastating decision -- whether to continue the legal and medical fight for her daughter
or allow her to live out her remaining days in peace
was involved in illegal street racing when she lost control of her modified pickup truck and ploughed into the "Lung Yai Steakhouse" at the entrance of Soi Ekkachai 119 in Bangkok's Bang Bon district
42 -- Ms Saranya's husband -- who died using his body to shield their five-year-old daughter
The impact nonetheless left Nong Cartoon with severe brain trauma
along with her vision and ability to communicate
Her condition required ongoing medical care
and she has remained bedridden for over a decade
The cost of her care has continued to accumulate
has failed to take responsibility or pay any compensation
to bear the burden alone for the past 11 years
the Thonburi Criminal Court sentenced Namphueng to two years and six months in prison but reduced the sentence to one year due to her confession and lack of prior criminal record
She was also fined 3,000 baht and ordered to pay 6.3 million baht in compensation to the family of Nong Cartoon
Nong Cartoon's family has yet to receive any contact from Namphueng
The only money Ms Saranya received was on one occasion at a police station when Namphueng paid 40,000 baht for damages to her shop
Namphueng posted on her Facebook saying: "I wasted time with this mother and daughter at the steak shop..
I'll stretch it out until the statute of limitations runs out
The 10-year statute of limitations expired on Sept 19 last year
some allege she transferred her assets to others prior to her sentencing
None of the financial compensation paid by the defendant has alleviated Ms Saranya's burdens
as Nong Cartoon's treatment costs reached 100,000 baht a month at one point
In an effort to support her daughter's ongoing treatment
Ms Saranya decided to reopen the steakhouse on Suksawat Road in Ratburana district
She also created a Facebook page where she regularly updates her 219,000 followers on her daughter's condition and the legal proceedings
The page was also used to seek donations when necessary
Ms Saranya recently offered an update on her daughter's condition in which she says Nong Cartoon has a severe lung infection
A doctor said her daughter would need a ventilator for the rest of her life
Ms Saranya considered giving up and allowing her daughter to pass away in peace
When she shared this painful thought on social media
it sparked widespread criticism -- not of her
but of a justice system that had failed to deliver for a mother and her severely injured daughter
highlighted the glaring injustice in the system and the stark contrast between the lives of Ms Saranya and Namphueng
who has posted pictures of herself and her husband enjoying a lavish lifestyle
interviewed later by the media said: "I thought about letting her go
thinking that Nong Cartoon has suffered enough
opened her eyes and searched for the sound
so I decided that if her condition improved enough for her to leave the hospital
I'll take her home and care for her myself
I am looking for a new legal way to fight the responsible party," she said
Justice Minister Pol Col Tawee Sodsong once said he was concerned about enforcement of the judgment
there is a 10-year statute of limitations for judgments
needing to pursue an asset investigation against the driver
Although the 10-year enforcement period has expired
her family could still ask the court to extend the asset investigation period for the driver who crashed into Nong Cartoon
This case is also a matter of human rights
so he needed to study legal provisions related to the "Justice Fund" to see what help could be provided
Another suggestion came from Kosolwat Inthuchanyong
director-general of the Office for Rights Protection
and Enforcement of Judgments under the Office of the Attorney General
He said that although the civil case has passed the statute of limitations
Ms Saranya can still convert the civil case into a criminal case by filing charges of fraudulent concealment of assets from creditors
"This can be pursued by investigating the transfer of assets by Namphueng
as such transfers must be supported by evidence," he said

2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SAGA Metals Corp
("SAGA" or the "Company") (TSXV: SAGA) (OTCQB: SAGMF) (FSE: 20H)
a North American exploration company focused on critical mineral discovery
is pleased to announce drill results from its 2025 maiden drill program at the Radar Ti-V-Fe Project
located near the port of Cartwright in Labrador
The central zone of the Dykes River layered mafic intrusive complex exhibits a strong
accurate magnetic-high anomaly in regional magnetic surveys
The Company further defined its drill targets in 2024
ground-based geophysical program and surface sampling
The initial 7-hole drill program (2,200 meters) has confidently tested the targets down to a depth of 200 meters
covering a 500-meter by 350-meter target panel
Figure 1: 500m strike by 350m width magnetic anomaly drilled in winter 2025 program
SAGA Metals Confirms Geological Success with the Drill:
Key drill intercepts from HEZ-01 & HEZ-04 (2 holes of the 7-hole program) include:
Table 1: Composite grades of HEZ-01 & HEZ-04
The SAGA team looked in detail at the assays of HEZ-01 & HEZ 04 and the geochemistry shows consistent relationship to Fe-Ti-V
Findings include over 200 meters of core in HEZ-04 and 130m in HEZ-01 which calculate over 25% titanomagnetite content of the sample and a promising group of samples such as a few seen in Table 2 which range as much as 60% titanomagnetite content
Table 2: High-grade samples in correlation to higher Titanomagnetite content in samples
Drilling also confirmed massive to semi-massive oxide layering
hosting titanium and vanadium mineralization
with significant widths up to 210 meters within the drill core
Al Miller’s petrographic studies has substantially advanced understanding of the Radar projects mineralization
These findings indicate a titanomagnetite mineralization system which is advantageous for simplified metallurgical processing and potentially improved economic outcomes
The 2025 drill campaign represents 1/40th of the approximately 20km long oxide layering zone identified at the Radar project
SAGA Metals plans to systematically expand exploration using proven and accurate methodologies—magnetic surveys followed by targeted drilling
"We are very encouraged by these initial drilling results," commented Michael Garagan
"They validate our geological models and significantly expand our expectations for the entire Radar property
The Hawkeye Zone is just one of five primary targets currently identified; excitingly
this zone remains one of the smallest prospects
Our strategy moving forward will involve methodically advancing exploration and drilling at our highest-priority targets
The door is now open to roll out a standardized order of operations
We know these layers are anomalous based upon surface geochemistry
Exploration moving forward is ‘magnetic survey - drill – repeat’ as we begin to survey the entirety of the oxide layering zone and prepare to identify the most prospective targets for the next drill program.”
Figure 2: The prospective inferred ~20km aerial oxide layering zone on the Radar property
Compilation analytical geophysics as acquired from historical sources
which SAGA has proven confidence in after the 2024 field programs
The Company’s 100%-owned Radar Property is located 10 km from the coastal city of Cartwright
benefiting from tremendous infrastructure including
The Radar Property comprises 21,750-hectares and entirely encloses the Dykes River intrusive complex
The Dykes River intrusive complex is a recently recognized Mesoproterozoic layered mafic intrusion (Gower
It has gained attention due geological similarities to large AMCG-type intrusions and a very extensive titanium–vanadium–iron (Ti-V-Fe) rich layer
Regional airborne magnetic surveys first highlighted the mafic oxide layer and indicated an arcuate 20 km long exploration target
Figure 3: Map of the Radar project highlighting the oxide layering as well as road access and proximity to the town of Cartwright
is a North American mining company focused on the exploration and discovery of critical minerals that support the global transition to green energy
This project features uranium radiometrics that highlight an 18km east-west trend
with a confirmed 14km section producing samples as high as 0.428% U3O8 and uranium uranophane was identified in several areas of highest radiometric response (2024 Double Mer Technical Report)
SAGA owns the Legacy Lithium Property in Quebec's Eeyou Istchee James Bay region
has been expanded through the acquisition of the Amirault Lithium Project
these properties cover 65,849 hectares and share significant geological continuity with other major players in the area
SAGA also holds additional exploration assets in Labrador
where the company is focused on the discovery of titanium
With a portfolio that spans key minerals crucial to the green energy transition
SAGA is strategically positioned to play an essential role in the clean energy future

This year’s 12th edition of the Scary Movies festival at Film at Lincoln Center premiered Ari Aster’s extended version of “Midsommar” this past Saturday
Kevin Costner’s ‘Horizon: An American Saga’ was originally envisioned as a four-part passion project — a grand
traditional Western epic unfolding over several instalments
after the underwhelming box office performance of Chapter 1
the fate of Chapter 2 — and the entire series — is now uncertain
One cast member has even revealed that the actors themselves are unsure about the project’s current status
In a recent conversation with Screen Rant
who portrays Diamond in ‘Horizon,’ revealed that she’s completely in the dark about what the future holds for the project
I really hope that we get to see the second one
which was the #1 most watched title on all of streaming in January
but little to no movement in terms of releasing it
and Costner still looking for money to film the last two instalments
there’s only one possible solution left here: Netflix should pick up the entire ‘Horizon’ saga
Back in July, I reported that Netflix had actually made an offer to Costner
The streamer was willing to get in the Yellowstone/Western game by partially helping to fund ‘Horizon’ chapters 3 and 4
but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s now changed his mind
he had shot nine days’ worth of footage for ‘Chapter 3,’ but production had to be shut down due to lack of funds
‘Chapter 2,’ which was pulled from Warner Bros’ schedule last summer, and cost $110M, did end up world premiering at the Venice Film Festival in September, albeit to weak reviews which further complicated matters for potential distribution
Netflix is now the only (and smartest) option for Costner

announces the final batch of core from the Company's maiden drill program at the Radar Titanium-Vanadium (Ti-V) project has been shipped for analysis to Activation Laboratories in Ancaster
sampled and separated into three batches and sent to the lab in approximately two-week intervals
SAGA anticipates receiving the assay results throughout the month of May providing a steady stream of information that can be analyzed and interpreted by the geological team with modeling of the mineralization and geochemistry
Local Support Strengthens Following Maiden Drill Program Completion:
Following the successful completion of Saga Metals' maiden drill program in Cartwright
the Town of Cartwright issued an official letter of support for the Radar Project
expressed the community's optimism and alignment with the project's future:
"The town of Cartwright fully supports Saga Metals in their exploration efforts and analysis aiming to identify an ore deposit near Cartwright and in Labrador in general. The town will help in whatever way it can to support Saga Metals in its efforts." - Robyn Holwell
Q1 2025 Radar Project Maiden Drill Program Summary:
SAGA's 2025 maiden drill program aimed to test the core of the magnetic anomaly identified through geophysics at the Hawkeye Zone
the program was confidently expanded to 2,200 meters after early drilling revealed strong intercepts through the primary layering sequences
This program confirmed a large mineralized layered mafic intrusion with early indications suggesting it is moderately undeformed and contains its original primary magmatic textures from over 1 billion years ago
which hosts the entirety of the Radar Ti-V project
has been historically mapped over an area of 160km 2
but larger in size to Greenland's Skargaard intrusion
This size underscores the immense untapped potential of the region for hosting critical metals
Key findings from the maiden drill program include:
Figure 1: Geophysical map of the Hawkeye zone showing drilled oxide layers and inferred oxide layering open in both directions along strike
Drill holes R25-HEZ-01 and R25-HEZ-04 were prioritized for the first shipment to Activation Laboratories due to their location on the drill fence which placed them in a position to fully intercept the main oxide layering sequence as seen in the above map
Both holes logged magnetite layering sequences between 130-200m across strike
Figure 2: Layering sequence of magnetite ranging from 2-10 inches per band over an almost 30m run of drill hole R25-HEZ-01
Magnetic and Electromagnetic (EM) Survey begins at ‘Trapper Zone'
Given the success of the maiden drill program's ability to uncover magnetite rich zones following the targeted geophysics completed back in Q4 2024
SAGA has commenced an additional targeted and highly detailed magnetic and EM survey over the northern anomaly in the Trapper zone located to the west of the Hawkeye zone
The objective is to develop a magnetic inversion model
that delineates follow-up drill targets along the inferred 20km oxide layer zone
The survey uses a tight spacing of 25-meters between linear stations over lines separated by 50-meter width to achieve high-resolution magnetic and conductivity mapping
essential for pinpointing mineralization correlated with magnetite
Tight spacing will give a very high-resolution image of the magnetic and conductivity of the known target to further support and enhance confidence for a drill program in this westerly zone
Figure 3: Map of the Radar Ti-V project oxide layer trend and locations of the Hawkeye and Trapper zones
CGO & Director of SAGA comments: "The geophysical work—surveyed by Cartwright local Cameron Martin and expertly interpreted by David and Chris Mark of Geotronics Consulting—was undeniably SAGA's guiding force during our maiden drill program this past winter
The success of this proof-of-concept initiative has elevated the next phases of geophysics to a top priority
particularly over our additional anomalous zones
as we aim to confirm the true extent of the oxide layer running through the project with further drilling
the Trapper Zone exhibits one of the strongest anomalies
and we are highly motivated to model it against the results from Hawkeye and ultimately advance to drilling at the Trapper Zone."
SAGA also holds secondary exploration assets in Labrador
CEO of Mercator Geological Services Limited is an Independent Qualified Person as defined under National Instrument 43-101 and has reviewed and approved the technical information related to the Radar Ti-V Project disclosed in this news release
this news release contains forward-looking information pertaining to the Company's plans and objectives in respect of drill program
announces the addition of 180 claims spanning 4,500-hectares
increasing the total size of the Radar Titanium-Vanadium (Ti-V) project from 17,250-hecatres to 21,750-hectares
This addition now encompasses the 20km inferred oxide zone starting from the 2025 Hawkeye drill program area heading west towards the new claim boundary
CGO & Director of SAGA comments: "Important information garnered from the combined field & drill programs suggests the oxide layer zone at Hawkeye may be contiguous to Trapper and possibly as far as SAGA's claim extension
These additional claims were strategic in an effort to ensure we've secured the full extent of mineralization
The team will look to apply magnetic geophysical continuity over the entire ‘inferred layering zone of the Dykes River' intrusion
The recently completed drill program over the prospective Hawkeye zone is our proof of concept to a much larger system."
Figure 1: Map of the Radar Ti-V project including recent claim staking and highlights the geophysical anomalies as well as the oxide layer trend
The Radar Ti-V Property is located 10km south of Cartwright in Labrador
The project now spans 21,750 hectares and benefits from road access and close proximity to a deep-water port supporting efficient exploration and development
Figure 2: Regional geology of the southeastern Grenville Province and the Radar property
SAGA's in-house geological team had been tracking and defining the oxide layers on the surface based off historical analytical geophysics and two summers of exploration
The team was confident that a limb of the oxide zone extended from the Trapper zone to an unnamed anomaly in the northwest
With the completion of the successful maiden drill program
that showcased drill hole intercepts of the magnetite–oxide layering zone and its potential extent
the team identified the evidence it needed to track the trend into the northwestern section of the property and therefore claimed the final geophysical target in the area
The inferred layering appears to be continuous from the Hawkeye zone
Trapper zone and the new extension of the property
Whether this is a lopolith feature as defined in the below intrusive model or a fold is yet to be confirmed
this extensive magnetic anomaly infers the oxide layering trend extends ~20km along strike highlighting the significance of this extension
SAGA has made comparisons with other "textbook" and modeled undeformed layered mafic intrusions such as the Kiglapait intrusion in Northern Labrador
Figure 3: Model of the Kiglapait layered mafic intrusion
Model highlights the stratigraphy of an oxide-rich layering sequence
Figure 4: Geophysical map of the Hawkeye zone showing drilled oxide layers and inferred oxide layering open in both directions along strike
SAGA's exploration team is currently finishing the logging and cutting process with the first shipment of core already sent to the Activation laboratory in Ancaster
SAGA's team has prioritized a sequence of drill holes with holes R25-HEZ-01 and R25-HEZ-04 being sent for assaying first
The Company anticipates its initial drill results within the next 4-6 weeks
R25-HEZ-01 and R25-HEZ-04 were prioritized due to their location on the drill fence which placed them in a position to fully intercept the main oxide layering sequence as seen in the above map
Both of these holes logged magnetite layering sequences between 130-200m across strike
This project features uranium radiometrics that highlight an 18-kilometer east-west trend
with a confirmed 14-kilometer section producing samples as high as 4,281ppm U 3 O 8 and spectrometer readings of 22,000cps

is pleased to announce the successful execution of its 2025 maiden drill program at the Radar Project
located near the town of Cartwright in Labrador
This program confirmed a large mineralized layered mafic intrusion with early indications suggesting it is completely undeformed and contains its original primary magmatic textures from over 1 billion years ago
has been historically mapped over an area of 160km 2 which is similar in size to Greenland's Skargaard intrusion
Figure 1: Regional geology of the southeastern Grenville Province and the Radar property
Radar Ti-V Project: A Strategic Critical Mineral Exploration Initiative
The Radar Project was initially targeted by SAGA to test a distinct geophysical signature and historical geochemical indicators suggesting the presence of Orthomagmatic Fe-Ti-V mineralization
"The Grenville Province is recognized as one of the most comprehensive deep continental-collision models on Earth
and underestimated" (Louise Corriveau 2005)
SAGA's targeted exploration of the Dykes River Intrusion aims to redefine the region's potential by leveraging modern geoscience techniques and seeking resources previously under-valued
The region was first explored during the Voisey's Bay exploration boom
yet much of its vast potential remains untested
Sampling Results from Summer 2025 Field Program Guide Maiden Drill Program:
Following two intensive summer field programs
SAGA has built a robust geological database
confirming the presence of key mineralization indicators:
petrographic and SEM analyses confirm that magnetite is the primary host of both titanium and vanadium
further validating the project's potential significance
SAGA's confidence in the project had been further bolstered by geophysical surveys
particularly the identification of a highly magnetic "donut-shaped" anomaly
High-resolution magnetic and EM surveys provided crucial insights into the layered structure of the intrusion
Figure 2: Regional residual magnetics of the Radar property
"What is most intriguing is the clarity of the layering sequences observed in magnetic inversions and drill core data," stated Michael Garagan
"We have been able to predict intercepts of massive to pervasive magnetite layers within 10–20m accuracy
logging and structural interpretation reaffirms that the system remains open at depth."
Figure 3: Analytical geophysics of the Radar property historical data
Figure 4: Magnetic inversion of the Hawkeye zone (looking east)
Note the pronounced defined layering in the top and most accurate magnetic signatures
Drilling confirmed extensive magnetite mineralization within the Hawkeye Zone
The main zone yielded intercepts of 130 to 200 meters of intermittent magnetite layering
along with over 300 meters of pervasive to disseminated magnetite within the Gabbro-Norite groundmass
Figure 5: Layering sequence of magnetite ranging from 2-10 inches per band over an almost 30m run of drill hole R25-HEZ-01
Figure 6: Layering Sequence of DDH R25-HEZ-04
Note magnetite banding intermittent throughout the Gabbronorite
Figure 7: Gladiator drilling set up on HEZ-05 on the Radar 2025 drilling program
The drill program successfully confirmed the magnetite layering zones identified by geophysics and aligned accurately with magnetic inversions
The shoulder rock to the main zones remains visibly enriched in magnetite and is consistently present throughout the Gabbro intrusive
magnetite-rich intrusion where magnetite mineralization correlates directly with titanium and vanadium content
which is consistent with earlier petrographic and SEM analyses
Figure 8: Detailed magnetic geophysics over the Hawkeye Zone with Ti and V samples
With over 2,200 meters of drilling completed
the team is now finalizing core logging and sample assays
Initial surface sampling from the past two summers has shown a strong correlation between magnetite and titanium-vanadium content
which is also anticipated in the pending assay results
The program's success has laid the groundwork for additional step-out drilling to further expand both the width and strike of the mineralized system
The team remains highly optimistic and eager to unlock the full potential of this promising asset

Unlocking a New Critical Metals Hub in North America:
The Radar Project represents a unique opportunity to develop a secure
which is vital for grid-scale battery storage and steel alloying
The Company feels that results to date suggest similarity to world-class Fe-Ti-V deposits such as Lac Tio
The Radar Project stands at the forefront of a potential new discovery
"Petrographic work on samples collected on the 2024 exploration program conclusively indicates that Radar project; Dykes River Intrusive (Gower 2017)
hosts a polycyclic gabbronoritic intrusive complex with multiple oxide layers," said Dr
SAGA remains committed to further defining this large-scale layered mafic intrusive system and is eagerly anticipating pending assay results from the Q1 2025 drill program
including road access to the property and proximity to the deep-water port in Cartwright
the Radar Project has all the hallmarks of a high potential
strategically positioned critical metals opportunity

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 25, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SAGA Metals Corp. ("SAGA" or the "Company") (TSXV: SAGA) (OTCQB: SAGMF) (FSE: 20H)
is pleased to provide an update on the 2024 field program at the Legacy Lithium Project in James Bay
operated by Rio Tinto Exploration Canada Inc
RTEC is a Canadian subsidiary of the Rio Tinto Group ( LSE: RIO, ASX: RIO
Figure 1.0 A map of the “Lithium Neighborhood” at the Legacy Lithium Project in Quebec
Option to Joint Venture Agreement with RTEC
Rio Tinto Partnership: Under the Option Agreement
RTEC has the option to acquire a 51% interest in SAGA’s Legacy Lithium Project over four years if it meets the following conditions:
it will then have the option to increase its stake to 75% over five more years by spending an additional C$34.18 million on exploration
RTEC will oversee the project as operator during both the first and second option periods
and a joint technical committee will plan the exploration programs
The Legacy Lithium project covers 100km of striking paragneiss situated in a region known for lithium discoveries
Rio Tinto and Midland Exploration’s Galinee Project
and Azimut Exploration and Soquem’s Galinee Project as shown in the map above
RTEC conducted geological mapping campaigns
and an airborne magnetics survey on the optioned Legacy Lithium project
a total of 173 pegmatite and country rock grab samples were collected and submitted for geochemical analysis
The airborne magnetic survey of the northwestern portion of the property was completed
A digital terrain model of the property was generated from Skywatch Pleiades Tri-Stereo satellite imagery which covers all but some of the far northern-western claims
The work completed in 2024 was focused on prospecting for lithium mineralization hosted in pegmatites
assessing the potential for the discovery of new mineralized occurrences within the proliferous James Bay Pegmatite District
Exploration: Prospecting Geological Data Collection
The results of the 2024 reconnaissance campaign
based on observation points and geochemical analysis
indicate that numerous pegmatites are widely distributed across the property
They are localized and primarily hosted within biotite-rich paragneiss
Although pegmatites are also present within orthogneiss
The pegmatites in zones of dilation and strain have a more evolved mineralogy
Pegmatite emplacement appears structurally controlled by a WNW-ESE shear zone with occurrences preferentially along dilatational zones in this trend
The highest Li₂O value found in pegmatite was 85 ppm in a boulder located on the western side and the highest value in an outcrop sample was 83 ppm
higher Li₂O concentrations were found in paragneiss
Assay results from a pegmatite sample in the central-northeastern sector reveal an anomalous tantalum value (53ppm)
This sample also yielded the highest beryllium value (83.4 ppm) and exhibited slightly elevated Rb/K ratios
a characteristic shared with nearby samples
Strongly peraluminous compositions were identified throughout the property
particularly within the tantalum-enriched sample zone
These findings suggest the presence of localized areas with enhanced peraluminous character
Peraluminous compositions are strongly associated with S-type granites
which are known precursors of LCT pegmatites
Although the average Alumina Saturation Index across the property is generally low
a trend of increasing peraluminous character is observed in the southern region
A higher volume of sampling in this area would be necessary to confirm this trend
RTEC Spatial Distribution of Alumina Saturation Index Grab Samples 2024
Elevated alumina saturation can suggest a favorable melt source for Lithium mineralization and is used in combination with other analytical methodologies

Skywatch was contracted to provide 50 cm high-resolution satellite imagery and tri-stereo digital terrain models (DTM) for the Legacy property
All but the northwesternmost claims on Legacy were covered during this survey
A helicopter-borne magnetic survey was conducted over the Legacy property completing a total of 3,096 line-km of data during the survey
only 40% of the planned survey area was completed before the survey was terminated
coverage was limited to the highest-priority northwesternmost section of the Legacy property
The remaining survey area is under consideration for completion in 2025
Pegmatites were mapped on surface and noted to correlate with zones of magnetic lows
Skywatch was also used as an exploration tool where RTEC was able to survey the project with 50cm Ortho Imagery across the entirety of the property
Both tools coupled with geochemistry will allow for a more focussed exploration effort in 2025
Figure 4.0 Detailed geophysics over the western border on the Legacy property
Pegmatites are commonly identified within extreme magnetic lows and marked by rock samples taken in areas with exposed pegmatite outcrops
and prospecting survey based on past results and the airborne magnetics
New zones in the far west of the property on strike with Winsome Resources’ Tilley project as well to the south of the Legacy property on strike with SAGA’s contiguous Amirault property yielded interesting observational points noted for further follow up by RTEC during the 2025 field season
RTEC sampling protocols include the insertion of OREAS standards at regular intervals within each batch of sample submitted to the laboratory
All samples were prepared by ALS Laboratories in Thunder Bay using a preparation package whereby the entire sample is crushed to 70% less than 2mm mesh size using a Boyd crusher and splitter combination
A 1kg split of crushed material is pulverized to better than 85% passing 75 microns mesh size
ALS internally sends all pulps to ALS Geochemistry in Vancouver for analysis
Pegmatite materials were analyzed by a multi-method analytical package: Super Trace ME-MS61L (Multi-Element Suite with added Au
ME-ICP06 (lithium borate whole rock analytes
and ME-MS81 (full suite including REE's)
Country rock samples were analyzed by: Super trace ME-MS61L and pXRF-30RT (RTX custom pXRF suite for resistate analytes (Cr
with a confirmed 14km section producing samples as high as 0.4281% U 3 O 8 and spectrometer readings of 22,000cps

About International Lithium Corp.
While the world's politicians are currently divided on the future of the energy market's historic dependence on oil and gas and on "Net Zero"
there seems a clear and unstoppable momentum towards electric vehicles and electric battery storage
We have also seen the clear and increasingly urgent wish by the USA and Canada and other major economies to safeguard their supplies of critical metals and to become more self-sufficient
Our key mission in the next decade is to make money for our shareholders from lithium and other battery metals and rare metals while at the same time playing our part in creating a greener
This includes optimizing the value of our existing projects in Canada as well as finding
exploring and developing projects that have the potential to become world class deposits
We have announced separately that we regard Zimbabwe as an important strategic target market for ILC
and that we have applied for and hope to receive EPOs there
We hope to be able to make announcements over the next few weeks and months
The Company's interests in various projects now consists of the following
and in addition the Company continues to seek other opportunities:
The Company's primary strategic focus at this point is on the Raleigh Lake lithium and rubidium project and the Firesteel copper project in Canada and on obtaining EPOs and mineral claims in Zimbabwe
The Raleigh Lake Project now consists of 32,900 hectares (329 square kilometres) of mineral claims in Ontario and is ILC's most significant project in Canada. Drilling has so far been on less than 1,000 hectares of our claims. A Preliminary Economic Assessment( PEA) was published for ILC's lithium at Raleigh Lake in December 2023
with detailed economic analysis of ILC's separate rubidium resource still to come
A continuing goal has been to remain a well-funded company to turn our aspirations into reality
and following the disposal of the Mariana project in Argentina in 2021
the Mavis Lake project in Canada in January 2022
and the Avalonia project in 2024 (sale not completed yet)
ILC has achieved sufficient inward cashflow to be able to make progress with its exploration projects
With the increasing demand for high tech rechargeable batteries used in electric vehicles and electrical storage as well as portable electronics
lithium has been designated "the new oil" and is a key part of a green energy sustainable economy
By positioning itself with projects with significant resource potential and with solid strategic partners
ILC aims to be one of the lithium and rare metals resource developers of choice for investors and to continue to build value for its shareholders in the '20s

VANCOUVER, BC MAY 1 st 2025 TheNewswire - American Salars Lithium Inc. ("AMERICAN SALARS" OR THE "COMPANY") (CSE: USLI
WKN: A3E2NY ) announces it has signed a Letter of Intent ("LOI") with an arms length Vendor to acquire a 100% interest in the Cauchari Minas Ines 01 Lithium Salar Project ("Cauchari" or "Project")
located o n the south end of the Cauchari Salt Lake
Department Los Andes in the Province of Salta
The Cauchari Ines 01 claims cover an area of approximately 1,235 hectares
sampled up to 383 ppm Li taken from a depth of 30cm below the salt crust
Access to the Project is through the city of Salta
via Road 51 passing the town of San Antonio de Los Cobres
and continuing approximately 80km to the nearby Cauchari Salt Lake
The Project area is accessed entering the Salt Lake through existing mining tracks and roads and located 13km from the Rincon salar owned by Rio Tinto

Figure 1. Map of the Cauchari Ines 01 concession and surrounding lithium producers
Adjacent to world class operators of lithium plants
Known geological district with significant Li K sampling results
electricity and gas pipelines infrastructure
Near San Antonio de los Cobres and Pocitos Industrial centre
"The potential of this section of the Salar de Cauchari is immense
Cauchari is a proven producing Salar operated by Exar – Ganfeng & Lithium Argentina that produces battery grade lithium carbonate
The Company will look to continue to increase its footprint on the Cauchari and Pocitos Lithium projects."
Data from reconnaissance exploration programs suggests that the Cauchari Salt Lake is underlain by a structurally controlled sedimentary basin that forms an aquifer of over 250 square kilometers
with maximum depths from 100 - 500 m along the eastern margins
No effective porosity determinations have yet been made on the aquifer
but by analogy with similar aquifers may be in the region of 4-20%
Structural geology survey suggests a shear fault zone through the concession oriented north south that could be an aquifer conduit
To the North of the Company's Cauchari Ines 01 claims
two important and advanced projects are actively being developed
with successful results from an exploration and pilot plant perspectives
The surface of the Cauchari Salar is a light brown lime-earthy layer
there are typical millimetre thick salt efflorescence which include chloride and sodium sulfate and to a lesser extent calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate (gypsum)
The Project is located on a carbonate platform generated by the late (geyser) volcanic activity
whose water loaded with minerals decanted in this basin
The geyser activity provided the majority of the chemical elements which caused the mineralization in these salt lakes
Significant concentrations of lithium were determined in brines from the Cauchari Salt Lake area
at the northern end of the Company's claim boundary
outcrops of Ordovician sediments occur and above these sediments and in a discordant way there are tertiary sedimentary outcrops of Group Pastos Grandes and equivalents and tertiary vulcanites from the eruptive complex El Quevar
The quaternary can be differentiated in evaporitic sediments from Cauchari Salt Lake
clastic sediments forming alluvial cones and travertine limestones with hydrothermal origin
The Project area is part of the Cauchari Salt Lake basin
The total area of this basin is approximately 2,550 square kilometres
The Cauchari Salt Lake is extended and narrow-shaped
Its irregular borders are characteristic due to the influence of numerous alluvial cones which cause marked narrowing
with a small participation of halite crystalline mass with a layer of greenish-brown lime-earth
Over the surface there are efflorescences and halite crusts
this Salt Lake produced the biggest amount of borax minerals
especially ulexite and tincal in a smaller amount
The mineralization of ulexite is concentrated along the occidental side of the Salt Lake
The origin of this mineralization is directly related to boratiferous spillage
from the fracture located at the bottom of the Cauchari sierra
Besides that it is important to take into account that the river Olacapato
whose origins are located in the thermal waters of Tocomar and Antuco
contributes with important saline contents; thus
is added to the mineral resource of the salt lake
Water bodies in the area of reconnaissance
the area belongs to the endorreic basin of the Salt Lake of Cauchari
the most important collector is the river Tocomar
originated by the numerous thermal springs (thermal spring Tocomar and Antuco)
This river has caused a vast alluvial plain that is in contact with the side of the Salt Lake through a wide unfunctional cone
the river pours down in the Salt Lake itself
and at the same time a group of springs appear in the nearby areas
The nearest settlement is Olacapato at 22km from the area under study
24-hour electricity and semipublic telephone service
The town of San Antonio de Los Cobres is the most important town and head of the Department Los Andes
It has 4,763 inhabitants according to the 2010 Census

Additionally
the Company has announced a settlement agreement with Ekeko SA in regards to the lien placed on the Pocitos1 project from a shortfall payment by Recharge Resources SA
The Company has agreed to $200,000 USD in cash payments for a full release of all liabilities and claims against Recharge Resources SA the holder of the Pocitos 1 tenement
with a second payment of $70,000 USD due September 15th
American Salars Lithium – Argentina Lithium Salar Portfolio of Projects
The Salar Pocitos Project is located approximately 100 kilometers west from San Antonio de Los Cobres which is the largest city at the top of the puna and approximately 250 kilometers west of the Provincial Capital
The Pocitos Project benefits from some of the best infrastructure on the puna including Provincial Highway Route 17 and the Pocitos industrial Park settlement that has a natural gas pipeline and near the railway and highway that runs through the salar to the Port of Antofagasta on the Chilean Pacific Coast
The Company's initial 800 hectare Pocitos 1 claim has an NI 43-101 Mineral Resource Estimate ("MRE") prepared by WSP Australia
The MRE inferred estimate was 760,000 tonnes of Lithium Carbonate Equivalent ("LCE") based on an in-situ lithium metal equivalent of 143,000 tonnes on the combined Pocitos 1 (800 Ha) and neighbouring Pocitos 2 block (532 Ha)
On a pro-rata basis Pocitos 1 has 456,000 tonnes of LCE insitu
(American Salars does not currently own the neighboring 532 Hectare Pocitos 2 block - See Press Release Dated June 17
The NI 43-101 MRE was estimated on an inferred basis using a block model with 6% and 14% porosity respectively for the clay and sand lithologies
Completing borehole magnetic resonance surveys will provide continuous and higher accuracy of porosity possibly leading to an upgrade of the resource

Specialties and Ketjen Outlook Considerations Specialties outlook reflects modest volume growth in key end markets led by pharma
partially offset by weakness in building and construction
Ketjen outlook assumes favorable product revenue mix
lower input costs and the continuation of its turnaround plan execution
Other Corporate Outlook Considerations Albemarle expects its 2025 capital expenditures to be in the range of $700 million to $800 million
down more than 50% from $1.7 billion in 2024
This level of spending reflects a prioritization on sustaining existing assets and resources
with the remainder allocated to select growth projects and high-return

To the dismay or neighbors, an April 28 foreclosure auction for the Elmwood Heights apartment building at 597 Elmwood Avenue was postponed until May 22
a lawyer representing a potential buyer showed up for the April 28 non-event
Neighbors fear the lawyer may be representing the current owner who wants to repurchase the neglected property
The building was condemned by the City in March 2023 and ordered vacated in June of that year. The current owner
pled guilty to 35 housing code violations in March with sentencing scheduled for July 14
The owner’s problems came to a head in December of 2022 when the mortgage holder
A Judgement of Foreclosure was signed in August 2023
The owner then filed for bankruptcy in October 2023
The foreclosure sale is now scheduled for May 22 @ 11 am at the Erie County Clerk’s office
Neighbors remain hopeful the building gets into the hands of a capable developer

Yet they keep having head coaches suspended
Funny how the pugnacious stances of the last 18 months have worked out
Makes you wonder what was in the NCAA’s response to the Michigan response
which marked the final step before a Committee on Infractions hearing that sources tell Sports Illustrated is scheduled for June 6–7 in Indianapolis
But even if Michigan is at least partially acquiescing to the COI’s likely insistence that Moore face significant punishment
the Wolverines still possess a flippancy that is impossible to ignore
The school is suspending him for the third and fourth games of the season
Unless suspensions are specifically tied to conference games (this one isn’t)
they almost always occur at the beginning of the season
Both the Oklahoma and Nebraska games are big deals
but ESPN noted in its story that Moore is an Oklahoma alum
Apparently that’s supposed to matter in terms of administering a suspension
the school can’t derail the nostalgia tour and hurt his feelings by making him miss that game
Or could it be that the last thing the Wolverines want to do is play their opening road game of the season
with a true freshman quarterback (if Bryce Underwood wins the job) and an interim head coach
Moore is making in the neighborhood of $6 million a year
and if returning to his alma mater is important to him
he could pay his own way during the offseason
rather than Michigan manipulating his suspension around that game
This seems like one last attempt by the university
while retreating from a previously entrenched position
The Wolverines seem to remain unserious about the Stalions saga and only grudgingly accept major sanctions
also the case when Jim Harbaugh was staring down the barrel of a Big Ten suspension during the 2023 season
The former Michigan staffer and a cohort of helpers engaged in impermissible
purchasing tickets and recording their signals from the stands
while an investigation was launched to determine the extent of Stalions’s covert operations—and which Michigan staffers knew what he was doing
The logical suspects were the play-callers: offensive coordinator Moore and defensive coordinator Jesse Minter
The Stalions flash fire led to Harbaugh being suspended for three games during the Wolverines’ national championship season
But that only came after Michigan dropped a lawsuit against the conference
Harbaugh was granted virtual martyr status by the school and its fans during his timeout
Harbaugh then beat the NCAA posse out of town
returning to the NFL and taking Minter with him as his DC
who performed ably as the game-day coach during Harbaugh’s suspension
Michigan whistled past the investigative graveyard last year
not imposing any sanctions on Moore as he led the Wolverines to an 8–5 record
The season started poorly but ended with a flourish: a stunning upset of the eventual national champion Ohio State Buckeyes
and a bowl victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide
But among the 11 charges in the NCAA’s notice of allegations was this: Moore deleted a string of 52 text messages with Stalions immediately after the signal-stealing scandal blew up
Moore explained it away as anger toward Stalions and not an admission of guilt
He later produced the texts for the NCAA via device imaging
while others pertained to Stalions’s knowledge of opponents’ signals
is not an admission that the signals were acquired against NCAA rules.)
Before Moore gets his day in NCAA court next month
the school has already set its own suspension
That wouldn’t happen if Michigan believed it had an airtight defense of its coach
especially since those suspensions have additional weight now—coaches not only cannot work on game day
they are suspended for the entire week of those games
And that self-imposed sanction might not be all that Moore or the school are facing
The Committee on Infractions has the latitude to add to it
if it chooses—and let’s just say that relations between Michigan and the NCAA have been contentious for years
There were penalties and suspensions handed down for a previous investigation
when Harbaugh met with recruits during the COVID-19 dead period and then lied about it
fought back vigorously during that probe—and that was before Stalions doubled Michigan’s trouble
Michigan is answering to six Level I allegations
the most serious at NCAA Enforcement’s disposal
The NCAA’s “repeat violator” rules could come into play and enhance the sanctions
although many people in the college sports space doubt the NCAA’s resolve to administer that penalty in an era when a billion-dollar
12-team College Football Playoff increases championship access geometrically
So the stakes remain very high for this meeting in Indy next month
But Michigan has already backed down in one key area
suspending another head coach after initially standing behind him
Everyone in maize and blue who confidently declared that nothing would come of the great Connor Stalions caper now have an interim head coach to cheer for in (at least) two games this season

Some see the 15 years of hearings and the millions spent on legal fees and construction delays that followed as a cautionary tale of how things should not work

What can possibly hold back a time travel movie, when Marty and Doc’s universe continues to fascinate, 40 years later? Discover why a return to the past remains a dream frozen in time.
Who has never dreamt of traveling through time, reliving great moments in history or correcting a small mistake from the past? Cinema, with its flying DeLoreans and magical telephone booths, continues to tickle our imagination, even four decades after meeting Marty McFly and the Doc. Let’s dive together into this timeless fascination for time travel, to understand why, despite technological advancements, this quest remains a sweet dream ingrained in our minds.
Released 40 years ago, the “Back to the Future” trilogy remains to this day an absolute reference in science fiction cinema. With its unique blend of humor, adventure, and daring temporal plots, it has marked millions of viewers across different generations. Led by the unforgettable performances of Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, this saga truly seems to belong to another era… but what about its future?
When a nod to “Back to the Future” emerged in the finale of the series Cobra Kai, social media quickly went wild, imagining an upcoming announcement. Remake? Prequel? Television series? None of that, according to Bob Gale, co-writer of the trilogy. He is categorical: there will be no sequel, no spin-off, not even a simple reboot of the cult universe. According to him, the trilogy is not only complete, but untouchable.
Steven Spielberg, producer of the trilogy, fully shares this vision. Together, Bob Gale and Spielberg believe that revisiting “Back to the Future” would risk tarnishing its unique legacy. In an industry where successful franchises are often milked to saturation, this stance stands out. For them, stopping after 3 films ensures that the story will remain impactful for viewers, without boring or distorting the original material.
According to Bob Gale, the timeless success of the saga lies in its universal message. Beyond the special effects and temporal plots, the films speak about ambitions, family, and life choices: profoundly human themes that still resonate today. This is probably why viewers of all ages continue to discover (and rediscover) the universe of Marty and Doc with the same wonder.
While fans will never see new cinematic adventures, the world of “Back to the Future” has nevertheless found itself on a grand stage. A musical comedy inspired by the trilogy is enjoying great success, offering a different but equally delightful experience. The songs, the sets, and the humor once again transport audiences into thrilling adventures aboard the DeLorean.
40 years later, the magic still operates, intact and preserved. Bob Gale was right: some stories are self-sufficient.

President Donald Trump greets Michigan Gov
Gretchen Whitmer with a hug as he arrives on Air Force One at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township
.st1{fill-rule:evenodd;clip-rule:evenodd;fill:#2a2a2a}By Danielle James | djames@mlive.comWhen President Donald Trump stepped onto the tarmac in Michigan on Tuesday
Gretchen Whitmer was among the first to greet him
which included a brief hug and later an invitation for Whitmer to speak with Trump
has since received national media attention
It comes at a time when potential Democratic presidential contenders
are being scrutinized for how they interact with Trump
Some have criticized Whitmer for working with Trump at all
while others have credited her with securing the fighter mission for Selfridge Air Base
MLive reviewed political chatter about Whitmer’s relationship with Trump over the last month and spoke with several Michigan political pundits
In addition to appearing with Trump at Selfridge
Whitmer visited the White House earlier in April
typically greet the president when he arrives in their state via Air Force One
Some say the greeting and then the big announcement for one of the state’s military bases shows Whitmer’s attempt to foster bipartisanship with Trump is working
Others describe the Democratic governor’s move as embracing Trump
RELATED: About that hug ... Whitmer risks backlash from Democrats as she embraces Trump in Michigan
Trump’s praise of Whitmer is a departure from his first term
when he referred to the Democratic governor as “that woman from Michigan” and the two frequently butted heads
a political science professor and director of the Center for Civic Engagement at Oakland University
said the continued discourse about Whitmer and Trump is “incredibly important.”
“It touches on so many elements of where we are,” he said
where the fed and state work together to address an issue
“You have two well-known elected officials who are famous for sort of sniping at each other,” he said
“Gretchen Whitmer… she’s drawn the ire of Republicans for years
and we don’t have to say what the Democrats’ reaction to Donald Trump is.”
“I imagine that many in each party’s base don’t know what to do with (this),” he said
he announced Michigan’s Selfridge Air National Guard Base would receive a new fighter mission
with approximately 20 F-15EX fighter jets arriving at the Macomb County base in Fiscal Year 2028
the base was poised to lose $30 million in wages and 30,000 jobs
also forfeiting nearly $850 million from Michigan’s economy
Trump shared credit for the success with Whitmer
Whitmer described the announcement as a “huge
that will grow our economy and make our country safer.”
The embrace between Trump and Whitmer is the second such occurrence that has gotten the Democratic governor mentioned in national news this month
a visit to Trump in the White House Oval Office that was supposed to be closed-press included a viral moment where Whitmer hid her face behind a folder

Whitmer described Tuesday’s hug as less-than

She said Trump stepped off the plane and greeted her first
and he “shook hands and he leaned in to tell me
congratulations and that I was a big reason that we were making an announcement today
the governor’s office again reiterated that the gesture was a handshake Trump leaned into
Whitmer also said working with Trump on some issues won’t stop her from criticizing him on others
like tariffs that have shook Michigan’s auto industry
important thing for the state of Michigan,” she told the Associated Press
he is going to go off to the rally and say a lot of things I disagree with
my job is to do everything I can for the people of Michigan.”
Tuesday’s Trump-Whitmer encounter was discussed on social media and by Michigan politicians
Some commenters expressed disappointment that Whitmer was so friendly when greeting Trump
Joanne Carducci, a New Jersey political commentator, posted a video of the greeting on X with the caption
Medhi Hasan, a British-American journalist, said “far-right extremists tried to kidnap Whitmer
Trump himself later suggested it was a fake plot and mocked it
He called her ‘that woman in Michigan’ and led a crowd that (chanted) ‘lock her up.’”
Whitmer hugged him on the tarmac,” he said
Dulio said the backlash Whitmer has received for working with Trump is a reflection of the state of the Democratic party and its views on the second-term president
“Even somebody who is effectively doing their job and benefiting constituents of all kinds is getting flack for it,” he said
“Some in the Democratic Party can’t see past Trump.”
Other commenters, like retired U.S. Navy Intelligence Officer Travis Akers, said on X that it’s “ridiculous” Democrats are upset with Whitmer for joining Trump at Selfridge
“She was there in her official capacity to support the men and women in uniform of the Michigan National Guard,” he said
also praised Whitmer for her work on Selfridge
he also referred to Whitmer as “helping us implement Trump’s agenda,” a comment that won’t likely win her many points from Democrats
“You got to give the governor credit,” he said
She’s helping us implement President Trump’s agenda
She’s doing a lot of really great things to help us.”
Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel criticized Hall’s attempt to give Republicans credit for jobs coming to Selfridge after previously voting against legislative budgets that included funds for the air base
Supporting Selfridge has been on the governor’s agenda for some time
with recorded advocacy dating back as far as Dec
when she called on Trump to support a new Selfridge mission during his first term
a senior affiliate professor of political science at Grand Valley State University (GVSU)
described Whitmer’s moves so far with Trump as “very bold … to reach out to this particular president at this particular point in time.”
he said it could play well into future presidential aspirations if Whitmer plays her cards right
“She needs to be able to show that she can work with anybody,” he said
adding that some could even say Whitmer is playing Trump
“That idea of being able to cross the aisle
is something I think voters do want to know.”

the critics of her will be proven right.”
Moiles said there’s still quite a lot of time between now and the Democratic nomination for president

“This isn’t something that’s turning her into a big Trump supporter,” he said
“I think this is a moment and (an) opportunity to get something out of it

In a jolt to India's electric mobility ambitions
EV ride-hailing startup BluSmart suspended services across Delhi NCR
The company—once hailed as a trailblazer in clean
shared transport—blames the halt on external financial turbulence
a more tangled tale of corporate misgovernance is unfolding
BluSmart's sudden collapse is being seen as collateral damage in the wider fallout of Gensol Engineering Ltd.
a partner that supplied its electric vehicles
The trigger: a Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) probe that unearthed a massive fund diversion scandal tied to one of BluSmart's own co-founders
Founded as a solar EPC and consulting firm
Gensol Engineering evolved into EV leasing and rapidly expanded
But that growth was marred by reckless borrowing— over₹1,000 crore by 2024—and alleged financial misconduct
diverted 978 crore earmarked for electric vehicle purchases into personal luxuries
These included premium real estate and even a luxury golf set
The regulator described a "complete breakdown of internal controls"
barred both Jaggi brothers from board positions
At the heart of BluSmart's shutdown lies its fleet leasing model
The startup did not own most of its EVs—instead
With Gensol under scrutiny and financing frozen
The company has promised to refund wallet balances within 90 days if services remain offline beyond May 7
some tied to EV leases they cannot repay or use
stressed that "the two are completely separate"—referring to Gensol and BluSmart
He also hinted at a potential ownership restructuring
though at a significantly reduced valuation (reportedly 60% lower)
many investors were reluctant to go on record
The mood across the ecosystem is one of caution
"In a rapidly expanding entrepreneurial landscape
it is becoming increasingly important for emerging companies to integrate robust governance and compliance practices from an early stage
aligning operational transparency with legal and regulatory expectations helps build long-term credibility with stakeholders
The current environment serves as a reminder that sustainable growth is best supported by a strong foundation of accountability
and strategic legal foresight," said Roma Priya
THE RIPPLE EFFECT ON INDIA'S STARTUP SCENE
The crisis has ignited wider debate in the startup and investor community
Rating agencies ICRA and CARE have downgraded Gensol over governance concerns and signs of document falsification
and the company has received warnings from both BSE and NSE for disclosure lapses
As India positions itself as a global leader in EV adoption and green mobility
the BluSmart-Gensol saga raises urgent questions about transparency
and the risks of vertically integrated startup models
While sharing his reaction on Linkedin Aman Gupta
Co Founder and CMO at Boat Lifestyle shared
But also a much-needed reality check for all of us in the ecosystem
I know what it feels like: - Investors lost money - Employees lost stability - And customers lost a service they genuinely loved (Hope they get the money in Blusmart wallet) But more than that
this has also dented trust in the ecosystem
What matters is how we as a country and ecosystem bounce back
here's the biggest takeaway: Compliance and ethics aren't boxes to tick
All so called "not so cool tasks" make businesses sustainable."
Co-founder at Showreel also wrote on Linkedin
"There's been a lot of noise around BluSmart and alleged misuse of funds
luxury apartments—media headlines love these stories
Whether they're true or not is still unclear
But here's what concerns me more: We're judging the ENTIRE startup ecosystem before the facts are even on the table
But painting EVERY founder with the same brush
The more we turn the spotlight into a searchlight
the less room we give founders to think big
And both die fast in a climate of paranoia
Let's fix what's broken—but let's not burn down what's being built
BluSmart's survival now depends on: The outcome of SEBI's forensic audit. Its ability to secure fresh capital or restructure under new ownership
Whether it emerges recharged or written off
BluSmart's story is now a case study in how startup dreams can falter when finance outpaces accountability
Was BluSmart an unfortunate casualty— or complicit through silence
The coming months will reveal whether this is the rebirth of a green mobility pioneer or the fall of a promising unicorn undone by its own foundation

The Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson saga refuses to die
and now we have a member of the North Carolina coach's family weighing in publicly on Instagram
BILL BELICHICK AND JORDON HUDSON RELATIONSHIP TIMELINE: The couple over the years

As the country braces for a new round of elections on Sunday (4 May)
uncertainty and concerns remain over whether the authorities have learned from past mistakes and can ensure a fair and transparent process
Back in November, we saw a candidate who pretty much flew under the radar and hardly appeared in any polls take the lead and claim the first spot with over two million votes
with zero money (as declared by the candidate) and with a heavy social media presence that exploded shortly before the elections
His campaign messaging was a blend of mysticism
So how did a candidate with extremist views that many would have considered marginal manage to come surprisingly close to securing the presidency
This troubling reality prompts critical questions about foreign interference in elections
the influence of social media platforms and whether our democratic institutions possess the necessary mechanisms to confront these challenges effectively
One of the most striking things about the meteoric rise of Călin Georgescu is that he declared his campaign budget to be ZERO. Yet, he had a huge online presence, particularly on TikTok and other social media platforms, which is estimated to cost as much as €50 million
and was even provided with luxury cars during his campaign
These new revelations only show how unfunctional existing reporting systems are and their failure to prevent illegal campaign financing and unfair political campaigning
Another alarming aspect of these elections is the rise of extremism and fascist ideology
The fact that we have candidates who openly embrace fascism – and that one of them nearly became president – indicates a systemic failure at multiple levels
How did a candidate with such radical views manage to fly under the radar
The answer lies partly in the ineffectiveness of established checks and balances
Now that we have seen this discourse almost taking over the presidential office, it seems Romanian authorities are finally starting to take things seriously and are cracking down on growing networks of fascist groups
does not excuse the fact that for so long this discourse was left unchecked
fester and claw its way into the mainstream
plays a pivotal role in shaping public opinion
media regulators appeared ill-equipped to combat misinformation and manipulation across social media platforms
State institutions are clearly not prepared to deal with bots
and the rapid spread of disinformation and conspiracy theories
Although we had several record-breaking fines applied to media outlets for promoting misinformation and hate speech
The public was constantly bombarded with fake news about a looming war and imaginary threats
This fuelled a general state of anxiety and distrust and sabotaged any possibility of real dialogue and exchange of ideas
This has added to the mistrust and even shows how out of touch and ill-equipped these institutions really are
Foreign interference in elections has become a real issue globally
The potential for external actors to influence electoral outcomes raises serious questions about national sovereignty and the integrity of democratic processes
foreign entities can exploit vulnerabilities in the electoral system
journalists and secret services to tacked this interference
suggesting that there were indeed organised networks of support acting for one candidate
the Constitutional Court went through a set of very confusing decisions
The Constitutional Court of Romania also found itself at a crossroads during the election period
First, in an unprecedented decision, it decided to not allow another extremist candidate to run for president
positions and participation in certain events to find that she was unfit to run for office
It nonetheless approved Georgescu’s candidacy
This decision was the pinnacle of this electoral saga
It might as well have been the thing that prevented an extremist from taking office
but it also raises serious questions about the whole process
what could and should have been done differently
foreign interference and growing mistrust in state institutions
Romania is now in the midst of a new round of presidential elections
set for 4 May (with a second round scheduled for 18 May)
still marred with political and legal challenges and is again testing the ability of state institutions to respond to and address the challenges from previous rounds
We did observe stricter rules for online campaigning, and the Electoral Bureau received extra competencies around electoral campaigning. However, experts have warned that these competencies might be abused and that the Electoral Bureau has already used them to censor several political messages
asking them to mark any political messages as political advertisements
Lastly, the discussion around the annulled presidential elections is still not over. Recently, a judge decided to overturn the Constitutional Court’s decision — a complete judicial nonsense that has already been nullified by the Supreme Court
the decision reignited calls from many who demand a return to the annulled elections
How Romania navigates this critical moment will define the strength and resilience of its democracy for years to come

But it’s a pretty difficult thread to follow
There are a lot of players and numerous accusations being thrown around
(Her husband can’t run again because of term limits.)
Attorney General James Uthmeier: Ron DeSantis appointed Uthmeier to attorney general earlier this year
he’s served as the governor’s chief of staff
his 2024 presidential campaign manager and his top political consigliere
Centene: A national health care company that settled with the state for $67 million last year for overbilling Florida’s Medicaid program
Florida House Speaker Daniel Perez: A Miami Republican who has quickly become DeSantis’ chief antagonist in the state
Perez’s House has been the main body investigating Hope Florida
Alex Andrade: A Pensacola Republican and chairperson of the House health care budget subcommittee who’s accused the DeSantis administration of improperly funneling state money to a pet political cause
Here are six key questions about Hope Florida
House Republicans have accused the DeSantis administration of using a charity related to Hope Florida to siphon public money that primarily goes to poor families into political causes
It all started in 2021, when state officials got wind of allegations that Centene, a massive health care company with business around the country, had overbilled the state’s Medicaid program by millions
State officials started settlement talks with Centene soon after
Centene agreed to pay $67 million back to the state
The settlement was finalized in September — amid a heated political season in which DeSantis was marshaling opposition to Amendment 3
a ballot initiative that would have legalized recreational marijuana for adults
the DeSantis administration funneled $10 million to the Hope Florida Foundation
(More on that group in a bit.) The foundation then gave out $5 million grants to two political groups that do not have to disclose their donors
Those groups then in turn donated $8.5 million to Keep Florida Clean
Keep Florida Clean was being run at the time by Uthmeier
who was then also serving as DeSantis’ chief of staff
(Team DeSantis won at the ballot box: Amendment 3 lost.)
has alleged that Uthmeier told representatives from the two dark money groups to apply for the Hope Florida Foundation grants
he said it would amount to Uthmeier steering money that belongs to the public from the Centene settlement to a political committee he controlled
Casey DeSantis announced the Hope Florida initiative in 2021
The idea was for “hope navigators” with the state to connect those in need to community resources like charities and religious groups
The idea quickly became a much-ballyhooed part of the DeSantis administration’s approach to social welfare
Although many Hope navigators are housed within the Department of Children and Families
they have become a part of numerous agencies under the governor’s purview
The state put out news releases about Hope Florida connecting those seeking jobs to employment resources; about it assigning long-term mentors to foster care kids and about it awarding grants to nonprofits that the state says are doing good work
The Hope Florida mission is getting people off of government programs like Medicaid — the same program at issue in the political dispute
Florida first lady Casey DeSantis speaks during a Patient Freedom news conference on March 5 in Tampa
File) [ CHRIS O'MEARA | AP ]The government connecting those in need to local nonprofit resources is not a new idea
It’s also not clear that Hope Florida has been as much of a success as the DeSantis administration claims
the governor said the program has saved the state of Florida $100 million — without providing evidence
He’s said the program has helped more than 30,000 people either get off government assistance or decrease their dependence on it
But the administration has been repeating that number for the better part of a year
“In the two-plus years we’ve been doing Hope Florida
I have never seen anything as transformational within our agencies,” said Liz Phillips
who is now a hope navigator with the Department of Juvenile Justice
Hope Florida is the name of the larger government initiative
The foundation is a charity the state set up to bolster the Department of Children and Families’ work
it collects donations and distributes them to organizations that help get people off of government assistance
The charity gave away less than 5% of its donations in its first year
The Hope Florida Foundation has an official designation: It’s the direct support organization for the department
That means state law governs how the charity acts
who sits on the board and for what purpose it can raise money
only doing so after reporters started looking into the charity
A major question in the saga hovers over Centene’s $10 million donation to Hope Florida: Was it Medicaid money
it could mean serious consequences for the DeSantis administration
Medicaid is a highly regulated joint state and federal program that in Florida largely goes to insuring poor children
Redirecting money from it to an unrelated political campaign is not only a bad political look — it could be a federal crime
DeSantis has called the $10 million a “cherry on top” of the overbilling settlement.
But experts have disputed that characterization. Since Medicaid is a state and federal program, Florida had to pay the federal government back its share of the settlement money. That means it owes the feds 57% of the entire $67 million settlement, according to federal guidance.
“It’s not clear to me why the entire $67 million settlement amount isn’t owed to the state’s Medicaid program,” said Andy Schneider, a research professor at Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy who has over 50 years of experience with the Medicaid program.
DeSantis hasn’t enjoyed the scrutiny from his fellow Republicans. He’s called the leaders of the Florida House “terrible” and “rotten” for trying to “smear” Hope Florida with their investigation.
His allies say all of it is political. Casey DeSantis is potentially gearing up to run for governor in 2026, and some Republicans want to take her down, they say. (U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds has already earned the endorsement of President Donald Trump in that race.)
House Republicans insist they’re not playing 2026 games. They say they’re all about good government.

OCNER | Miami Herald ]“My focus is, and has always been, on transparency and accountability—especially when taxpayer dollars are involved," Perez wrote in a statement to the Times last week.
Not anymore. Last week, in a surprising move, the Florida House said it was ending its investigation.
Times/Herald staff writers Lawrence Mower and Alexandra Glorioso contributed to this report.
