Beatrice D’Augustine – passed away peacefully at home on a beautiful sunny morning
Born in Albany she was the daughter of the late Louis D’Augustine and Mary Rose Lanese
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 68 years
daughter Nicole Sano Zigler (Clay) of Indianapolis
She was the grandmother of Ashlee Sano (Christopher Mundell)
She is survived by six great-grandchildren
She is survived by her sisters-in-law Shirley Sano Norton (late Ned Norton)
She was the loving Aunt Bea Bea to seven nieces and nephews
She had very fond memories of growing up in Albany’s South End and picnics and parties with her many relatives in the Italian section of West Albany
She graduated from Cathedral Academy and Cardinal McCloskey
and worked for more than 40 years for the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles
She spent her retirement years living in both Florida and New York
Bea Bea was an exceptionally endearing woman - she was not only intelligent - but was also high spirited
and was certainly courageous and resourceful in any type of quandary
a special Christmas stocking and gave it to them on their very first Christmas
and loved lounging in the sun near a pool or lake with a good book and a small glass of wine
She spoiled everyone she knew her with kind friendship
She will be remembered for all the very special love she gave
was certainly surrounded by merriment and well fed
(Author’s Note: I pinky-promise this piece is not a direct response to Ben’s great top prospect outlook
I’m fine with prospect excitement—so long as dreaming on the future doesn’t mean punting on the present)
I’ve never been a big “prospect guy”. Sure, I get excited/hopeful when I see the Minnesota Twins organization at-or-near the top of MLB farm systems
but I’m not one to dream on young talent until I see it with my own peepers at the big league level
A big reason for this approach: the Byron Buxton & Miguel Sano “cautionary tale”
In 2009, the Twins signed Sano out of the Dominican Republic. In 2012, they drafted Byron Buxton with the #2 overall pick (right after Carlos Correa went #1 to the Houston Astros)
From 2012 through 2014—rough years in Twins Territory—Buxton & Sano were touted as “saviors of the franchise”
The Twins didn’t necessarily rush them through the minor leagues
but I remember the strong vibes being that presumably when those two made it to The Show the Twins would rise out of the cellar and back to competitive prominence
the plan looked to flower right off the vine..
As I’ll chronicle throughout the upcoming summer, the ‘15 Twins certainly did make some noise towards becoming relevant again. Alas, we know how this all ultimately turned out. In eight seasons together—2015-2022—Buxton & Sano did not manage a single playoff victory
It would of course be foolish to lay all (or much) of that blame at the feet of MN’s dynamic duo
expecting two players to double-handedly restore a franchise
I have no quarrel with anyone who enjoys watching MiLB or chronicling prospects as a matter of R&D
It’s fun to catch of glimpse of “the next generation”
who somehow always manage to be more athletic than the cohort before them
But this offseason, I’ve picked up a few rumblings of Walker Jenkins & Emmanuel Rodriguez being the talents that could push this roster over the top this year or the next. It certainly doesn’t help when ownership gives the fanbase nothing else to feel hopeful about
I sincerely do hope those youngsters pan out in the best possible way
until I see them from my 3B-side perch at 1 Twins Way for some time
I’ll as much continue to live in the present as hope for the future
The City of Huntsville and the Land Trust of North Alabama are collaborating on improved infrastructure on Monte Sano to provide an improved path for pedestrians and cyclists to enjoy the mountain’s natural beauty
The City will provide $500,000 in matching funds after the Land Trust raised $500,000 to pave Toll Gate Trail from Bankhead Trailhead to Fearn Street
Plans call for a 10-foot-wide asphalt pathway along the 1.3-mile trail
The project will cost an estimated $1 million
“We are partnering with the Land Trust on this trail to encourage cyclists to use it instead of Bankhead Parkway,” City Engineer Kathy Martin said
“We hope this project can provide cyclists with a safer alternate route as well as improve overall traffic safety on Bankhead Parkway within this area.”
The trail will provide a connection from the Land Trust parking lot on Bankhead Parkway to the paved trail into Monte Sano State Park
“Tollgate Greenway is an amazing example of what can be achieved when a community unites behind a shared vision,” said Land Trust Executive Director Marie Bostick
“More than 250 donors came together to support the Land Trust’s fundraising campaign
successfully matching the City of Huntsville’s $500,000 commitment to make this project a reality.”
She added the initiative will create an inviting
accessible path for those who struggle with natural surface trails
allowing more people to experience the forested mountainside
alternative route for cyclists riding up Bankhead Parkway
further enhancing connectivity and outdoor recreation opportunities for the community

Dedicating the Moon Tree at Monte Sano State Park on Thursday
president of the Von Braun Astronomical Society; Marcia Lindstrom
from NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center; Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle; Rae Ann Meyer
Deputy Director of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center; Chad Davis
district superintendent for Alabama State Parks; and Zachary Heard
Officials from Alabama State Parks and the Von Braun Astronomical Society gathered Thursday with city leaders and representatives from NASA to dedicate a Moon Tree – a tree grown from seeds flown on American spacecraft in lunar orbit – that has been planted at Monte Sano State Park
NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement selected the Von Braun Astronomical Society to receive the tree
and VBAS partnered with Alabama State Parks to have it planted at Monte Sano State Park
“Our partnership with Von Braun Astronomical Society dates back decades
and it’s wonderful that this partnership has led to the planting of this amazing Moon Tree,” said Alabama State Parks Director Matthew Capps
seeds of several different tree species traveled into lunar orbit aboard the Orion spacecraft as part of the Artemis I mission
The seeds spent more than 25 days in space before returning to Earth
which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year
applied to NASA to receive a tree and learned it had been selected to receive one earlier this year
arrived this week and was immediately planted at Monte Sano State Park
This is the first Moon Tree awarded to an astronomical society and recognizes the significant education and outreach done by the society volunteers
The current Moon Tree plantings pay homage to a similar program conducted as part of the Apollo 14 mission in 1971
when seeds accompanied astronauts Alan Shepherd and Edgar Mitchell
who became the fifth and sixth humans to walk on the moon
The Apollo 14 Moon Trees were grown into seedlings by the U.S
Department of Agriculture Forest Services and placed around the world
including some distributed as part of the U.S
The Artemis Moon Trees are intended to serve as a celebration of the future of space exploration
and placing one in Huntsville holds special significance
considering the loblolly seed was sent into lunar orbit by a rocket developed at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville
located near the John Scoble Memorial Pavilion in the park
will be protected by fencing and permanent signage will be installed soon to commemorate its significance
Visitors to the park will also be encouraged to use the #MonteSanoMoonTree hashtag when posting about it on social media
“The Monte Sano Moon Tree serves as an inspirational symbol of the relationship between earth and space,” said Alex Hall
President of the Von Braun Astronomical Society
“This space traveler reminds us to look to the stars and holds special meaning for many of our members who have been and continue to be involved in the exploration of space
We can’t wait to see people posting selfies with the tree on social media.”

but self-inflicted burn injuries aren't all that common in baseball and for it to happen twice to former Twins is just simply remarkable
Miguel Sano can now welcome himself into the clubhouse that Marty Cordova has long been the sole citizen of, after burning himself on a tanning bed while with the Baltimore Orioles in 2002
According to The Athletic's Jason Stark
while with the Angels during the 2024 season
was rehabbing from a knee injury when his burning incident happened
Sano was on the Angels' IL due to knee inflammation in May and as Stark put it
"He slapped a heating pad on that knee
Sano had appeared to find a bit of a groove early on with the Angels
slashing .262/.352/.361 with 27 strikeouts in 71 plate appearances before the injury shelved him at the end of April
The heating pad incident ended up extending his stay on the IL for an additional month and things dropped off in a big way when he returned
he slashed an abysmal .046/.125/.182 in 24 plate appearances
The Angels cut Sano on July 13 and he wasn't picked up by another squad afterwards
Sano placed second in Stark's annual 'Weirdest injuries of the year' column, coming in behind Tampa's Peter Fairbanks, who cut his finger while trying to take the cap off a bottle of spring water.

From the Marshall Space Flight Center to beyond the Moon
and finally to its final destination at Monte Sano State Park
the most traveled tree seed in history is home
a dedication was held Thursday to celebrate the planting of the “Moon Tree,’’ a pine at the John Scoble Memorial Pavilion
A sapling at the entrance to the pavilion sprouted from a seed that hitched a ride aboard the Artemis I mission’s Orion orbiter
Orion was powered by the Space Launch System (SLS)
which was designed at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC)
“We are laying the foundation for continuous deep space exploration
expanding human presence deeper into the solar system,’’ said Marcia Lindstrom
“Artemis I laid the cornerstone of that foundation and as part of that historic mission aboard the Orion spacecraft high atop the SLS rocket
traveled more than 268,000 miles from Earth
“After a journey of approximately 1.3 million miles
it’s back to grow here on Monte Sano as a symbol of a new generation
But because the Monte Sano moon tree is in this place
It represents Huntsville’s place along a continuum
Artemis I was a mission of historic significance
president of the Von Braun Astronomical Society
is convinced the sapling is in its proper place
“We’re all here because it represents something just a little bit bigger than ourselves
something that maybe we can look at and we can touch
and it gives us that level of inspiration,’’ she said
“And for the Von Braun Astronomical Society
this tree really does recognize our longstanding partnership with Monte Sano State Park and provides another touch point that we can use to engage and inspire our communities
She added, “I’m really grateful for the support of (park manager Zachary Hurd), and the rest of the park team in wholeheartedly embracing our little space traveler and finding such a great home for it.’’
Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle highlighted the Loblolly seed’s journey of “many
He also cast the tree as another chapter in the city’s narrative
“This is about the pages of history about our community and the footnotes of history that we wrote about propulsion that took man to the moon
And it’s about developing the propulsion systems that are taking man back to the moon
And now we’re developing the propulsion systems that are going to take us to Mars and even further
This (tree) is a symbol of what we’re proud of.’’
Northwest Alabama Parks District Superintendent Chad Davis pointed out that March 20 was the official first day of spring
“It seems especially appropriate,’’ he said
The ceremony ended when a sudden burst of sleet scattered the crowd taking pictures with and of the tree
Some headed to one of the two observatories on the mountain to warm up with refreshments
Lindstrom repeated an astronaut’s quote from the early days of space exploration that seemed appropriate
“You’re gonna recognize these words,’’ She said
as we shall return with peace and hope for all mankind.’ Those were the last words from Apollo’s 17 Commander Eugene Cernan as they left the surface of the moon on December 14th
Apollo 17 was America’s last manned flight to the Moon
which was one month from the 50th anniversary of the mission carrying Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt to the Moon
“The return that Captain Cernan and so many others had longed for,’’ Lindstrom said
“Artemis I launched and it was an eye-watering success.’’
On a day that begged for hyperbole, a little sapling that was put in the ground at the John A. Scoble Pavilion got all that it deserved.

got a special treat when Rick and Morty: The Anime premiered on Adult Swim’s Toonami Block and Max
storyboard artist and animator Takashi Sano (best known for Tower of God
The 10-episode season features the same premise and characters as the popular series
but it offers a Japanese art style and voice cast
It’s an extension of four previous anime-style shorts released years earlier which featured the duo transported to feudal Japan and fighting monsters
Animag: Thank you so much for taking the time for our questions
Can you tell us when and how you got involved with this clever new take on Rick and Morty
I was approached with an offer to create an anime short for Rick and Morty
The main reason I accepted was because Rick and Morty was such an intriguing show
I had just finished directing a TV series at the time and was eager to work on something shorter in length
I received another request to make another anime short for Rick and Morty
Genocider was such an enjoyable experience
That one was Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil)
Thanks to the recognition of these two anime shorts
I was given the opportunity to create this anime series that consists of 10 episodes
worked out so well that it ultimately let me here today
What was it about this show and characters that drew you to the project
I think the real charm of Rick and Morty lies in its blend of humor and science fiction
The sense of humor in particular is something not often seen in Japanese animation
So I saw it as a unique opportunity to create a story within this world
I was drawn to the idea of producing a story full of American sensibilities from a Japanese perspective
so that’s another reason why I decided to join the project
When did you start working on it and how long did it take to complete
We began working on the script in January 2022
we started working on the storyboards and animation in parallel with the script
The final episode was completed in March 2024
What would you say was the biggest challenge about bringing this established American show to the anime world
The fact that we had to create it without altering the setting of the Rick and Morty world
If we simply created a copy of the American version
there would be no point in making it in Japan
So the challenge was to add in new interpretations while making sure the character designs remained consistent but to also create something with a slightly different flavor from the original
This brought out the creative juices in us
How many people worked on the show with you
we incorporated 3D animation so we worked with a 3D studio
Yoda san was our animator and assistant director
we had the following animation directors join in; Watanabe san
there are all the voice actors and in-between animators and finishers
you’ll see that this was created with the efforts of many people
I believe there were close to 100 people involved
there were about eight producers and the production staff just within the Japanese production company side
Do you plan to do more episodes in the future
But maybe would like to change the approach a bit
Although this series has ‘The Anime’ in the title
that doesn’t mean it was intended to be made in a Japanese anime style
Originally we had considered ‘Take Me To The Other Side’ as the subtitle
that idea was used for the ending theme song
it could be interesting to try placing 3D effects and camera work that are popular Japanese anime-style elements
how we approach it would depend on the reception of the series
Do you have any favorite moments in the show
but I think one of my favorites is the epilogue in episode 2
in which you see the suburban streets of Tokyo; the Japanese pubs
It was interesting to place Rick into everyday life in Japan
What do you think of the reception to the anime version
Whether the feedback is positive or negative
I’m very grateful and appreciative of receiving honest opinions
It’s disheartening when there is no response at all
and use it for making improvements next time
If the viewers understand my intentions for the show and give me good feedback
that will be my strength so then I can refine that further for the next time
but the series was created with the idea that all 10 episodes of the season form into one complete story
so I’m looking forward to seeing how people respond after the final episode
You can currently watch Rick and Morty: The Anime Thursdays at midnight on Adult Swim and Fridays on Max
The show was created and developed by Takashi Sano and produced by Studio Deen

Global Finance Magazine
Global news and insight for corporate financial professionals
Global Finance: How has rising inflation impacted your country scores
Yoel Sano: Higher inflation generally means higher risk of social instability
we saw an immediate inflation spike; the cost-of-living crisis went global
Rising food prices were one of the major factors that disrupted social stability
it depends on the country’s macroeconomic backdrop
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was toppled in 2022
late last year to fix triple-digit inflation
We currently have anti-inflation protests erupting in Nigeria
the impact manifests itself in different ways
The most extreme cases lead to sudden changes in government
or it could be a slow-burn ejection of a government like we saw in Argentina
Or it could just be sort of sporadic unrest like we see in Nigeria
GF: Do organized disinformation campaigns affect political analysis
Sano: Our analysts obviously monitor Twitter [now X] throughout the day to sort of see what news is available
But we also look at the mainstream international outlets from a variety of different sources
It is often somewhat tricky to absolutely be sure about what happens
The quantity and speed with which information is disseminated makes a lot of noise
so we just have to work our way through it
It’s a case of perseverance and trying to see through the fog
But certainly the onset of disinformation can cause situations to erupt quite suddenly
which seem to have been triggered by false information concerning the identity of the murderer of three young girls at a dance party
The false aspect of the story had been debunked
but the underlying sort of aggression is still there—it’s still a risk
where you have a sudden piece of disinformation thrown up
can trigger unrest that will probably be more common going forward
I’d say it’s about the speed of disinformation
GF: What’s your outlook for the major Latin American markets
Sano: We’re quite positive on Mexico’s economy in the long term as an alternative to
Mexico can bring more manufacturing and business operations to market
as it is geographically closer to the US and perhaps more politically reliable under President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum [she assumes office on October 1]
technocratic-type leader who would maintain Mexico’s stability
there’s a lot of uncertainty about who will succeed Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva
We have municipal elections in October; that’ll be a test for Brazil’s 2026 presidential election
And we know that ex-President Jair Bolsonaro cannot run for the presidency in 2026 due to his own legal challenges
the Brazilian right will be looking for a new standard bearer for the 2026 presidential election
Milei’s main test will be the midterm elections in October 2025
we are seeing the challenges against President Nicolás Maduro
who seems to have retained the support of the military and key institutions
He seems to be able to ride out the protests
but it depends how big any protests become
And even that doesn’t completely guarantee political change because we’ve seen
large protests went on for months and the governments stayed put
Peru has been a country where we’ve seen almost chronic instability for quite some time now
General elections are scheduled to be held in April 2026
there seems to be a power struggle within the ruling Socialist movement
Chile also has elections next year in Latin America
this will be a test of whether the current center left will retain the presidency or whether the right will come back to power
I know that President Gabriel Boric has faced a number of problems
He has faced constitutional amendments being defeated by referendums
so he has had quite a turbulent presidency thus far
GF: Will China continue to wield influence in Latin America
Sano: I think there are a lot of avenues for uncertainty regarding China’s influence on parts of Latin America
Milei immediately withdrew Argentina from BRICS when he was elected president
But it shows that you can’t assume that just because there’s a sort of China-friendly government in place at one time
trade is an area where China will remain important for Latin America
GF: What key strategy would you offer to CFOs to manage risk
Sano: You must have some sort of backup system or resiliency plan to deal with disruption to any operations
several months before the Covid-19 pandemic began
we conducted a test situation where we all worked from home—just to see how that would function
When the lockdown actually happened in March 2020
we were ready and able to maintain continuity of business
Imagine if this had happened 20 years earlier
it’s important for companies to have backup systems
It also depends on what business you’re in
the Houthis of Yemen started attacking shipping vessels in the Red Sea in late 2023
Freight was rerouted around the Cape of Good Hope in Africa
it was more expensive and more time consuming
I think building redundancy in any kind of system is useful
you don’t want to be reliant on a single source for your components
and you’d ideally want to ship your material from multiple countries so there’s not a single point of failure
GF: Any surprises in the months since BMI held its last annual “World of Worries” Q&A event
Sano: Our analysts do these global/macro risk assessments on a global basis and on a regional basis
The Israel-Hamas war in Gaza has gone on a little longer than we expected
I would also say that you can’t predict events like the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter a few months ago and centrist Masoud Pezeshkian winning a snap election
We couldn’t predict that former President Donald Trump would be shot
but we did flag the possibility of the coming US election being conducted without either Donald Trump or Joe Biden on the ballot
either due to Trump’s legal difficulties or Biden’s age
we’re correct—in that sense—about the Biden age issue
There will always be something that happens
We’re holding another “World of Worries” event on October 9
Sano has started all 14 league and cup fixtures. This despite arriving late to FSV camp following a legal dispute in his home country. Henriksen noted that the 23-year-old four-times-capped Samurai international has made great strides both on and off the pitch
The FSV trainer revealed that a special meeting needed to be held in order to address the language barrier.
I told them that the cooperation between them is really important
that they need to talk and communicate more."
"We sat together for 35 minutes," Henriksen continued
Making a player like him laugh is difficult because he tends to be introverted
we could really see that he likes being here
but gigantic strides," Henriksen went on to say
one could see that he's getting better and better. He's very
technically very strong and a good footballer
He can become one of the best players at his position internationally."
After further noting that "ensuring that he and Amiri gel" was of vital importance, the gaffer was asked about Amiri's prospects of returning to the German national team. The 28-year-old - once again being linked with a move to the EPL - has certainly made a strong case for himself in recent weeks.
"The way he's playing right now," Henriksen glibly stated
arrested on July 14 on suspicion of sexual assault
issued an apology Monday after being released from custody
capped four times for Japan after making his national team debut last November
was arrested with two other men in their 20s after being accused of colluding in the alleged assault in Tokyo
"I offer my sincere apology to the victim for my actions that caused great trouble," Sano said in a statement through his management company
"I take the consequences of my action seriously and will strive to restore trust."
Sano joined Mainz in the German Bundesliga on July 3 on a four-year deal from J-League first-division club Kashima Antlers
The defensive midfielder was part of the Samurai Blue squad for the Asian Cup held in Qatar from January to February

setting a 1m51.230s in the first session to claim race one pole by just 0.003s
B-MAX’s Yuto Nomura was the driver who just missed out
and TOM’S driver Rikuto Kobayashi was 0.273s back in third
Delightworks Racing’s Souta Arao and Frederick were the only other drivers within a second of the pace
Nomura completed a top four split by 0.168s
and Frederick trailed by over half a second
with LM Corsa’s Reimei Ito lurching off the line before stopping
Sano swept to the inside then back to the racing line to lead into turn one as Nomura and Kobayashi went side-by-side through the corner
and got alongside Sano at the end of the lap
He swept around the outside at turn one to take the lead
and gradually built a gap of 2.861s over the rest of the race
But a five-second penalty for jumping the start dropped him behind Sano
and on lap 12 B-MAX’s Zachary David passed Delightworks’ Yusuke Mitsui for fourth on the outside at turn 15
After taking sixth from B-MAX’s Kazuhisa Urabe on lap three
Arao held him and B-MAX’s Tosei Moriyama for a long time
Urabe got back past on the outside entering the final chicane on lap 14
but Arao slipstreamed back ahead down the pit straight and Frederick became involved
then left little room at the chicane and Arao went off
The race ended with Urabe and Moriyama in sixth and seventh
as Arao got a five-second penalty for off-track driving and Frederick was penalised for jumping the start
Kobayashi had a transmission failure at the chicane on lap two
and Arao should have inherited second but went off during the safety car period that followed and rejoined at the back of the pack
B-MAX boss “Dragon” crashed later on
and completing the podium behind Sano were Nomura and Frederick
but both Kobayashi and Nomura were able to go around the outside of him at turn one
Urabe also dropped down the order after stalling
Kobayashi threw away victory by going off on lap eight
Sano was left with a big gap up front and a third win

MLB Trade Rumors
By Steve Adams | July 15
The Angels are releasing corner infielder Miguel Sano following last week’s DFA, per the team’s transaction log at MLB.com
He’ll be a free agent once he formally clears release waivers
Sano returned to the big leagues with the Halos this season after not playing in 2023
A former All-Star and third-place Rookie of the Year finisher with the Twins
Sano looked ticketed for stardom earlier in his career but never consistently established himself as a middle-of-the-order hitter in Minnesota
despite possessing 80-grade power (on the 20-80 scale)
He’s cleared 25 home runs in four different MLB campaigns
but has gone down on strikes in more than 36% of his career plate appearances and regularly graded as a poor defender at both infield corners
Sano turned in a .245/.338/.498 batting line with 118 home runs in 2051 plate appearances with the Twins (an average of 39 homers per 162 games played)
His bat has tailed off significantly since that time as he’s struggled to stay on the field as well
That stretch includes a 30-homer showing in 2021
but that’s the lone time in the past five years he’s made an impact at the plate
began to walk less than in his earlier days
He hit just .083/.211/.133 in 71 plate appearances with the ’22 Twins
and posted an anemic .205/.295/.313 slash in 95 plate appearances as an Angel
He also missed nearly six weeks of the season with a left knee injury
which could land him a minor league deal with another club
but it seems likely he’ll need to slug his way back into the majors with a decent Triple-A showing
Los Angeles Angels Transactions Miguel Sano
Looks like Miguel Sano could use some therapy… maybe try BetterHelp
So now we have to weed through advertising articles
Some of us need assistance to get through it
4 days without games will be a welcome break
I assume MLBTR must have bit off more than they can chew
They are tarnishing a good product with the way they are trying to monetize
They have additional payroll that I assume is being put forth to make the subscriber articles happen
and I can’t imagine that is all that profitable
MLBTR has gotten pretty successful it seems with how many posters there are now
I enjoyed MLBTR more when the room was smaller
They’ve come a long way and I think if they have a good product and can make a living doing what they love then that is the ultimate success and I’m glad they’ve found it
I’m looking for another baseball site that will scratch my itch for baseball talk
I just haven’t really found one that can replace MLBTR
Figured out how to log in here to echo this sentiment
I was a regular commenter here back ~2010-2015 (back when the comments were through Disqus)
You could actually see who responded to who
and the majority of the comments were actually discussing the baseball merits of various moves without much insulting or ad hominem attacks
and I think it’s still one of the best baseball sites for quick news/analysis
But I miss when I was also a great place to discuss the news with other engaged fans
I remember my very first post here a few years back
The subject was Michael Pineda and I posted that I saw him up close warming up in the Mariner bullpen when he was a rookie
I described that loud pop of the catcher’s glove on each pitch
Then I described his last warm up pitch where he really let loose
and the pop sounded like an M-80 going off
a guy that called himself Steve Nebraska berated me for posting such a comment
He said it was because Pineda was a “know commodity.” (He forgot the “N” in known.) I remember thinking “What a d*ck!” It was a precursor of what was to come as people that post here routinely berate and belittle each other over the most trivial things
The signing of a journeyman reliever to a minor league contract as a depth move can spark a vicious thread
Wasn’t Better Help outed as a pretty horrible company
but they got into some hot water not that long ago for data sharing and not actually having licenced thearapists
If you don’t like the ads for whatever reason
But if these writers can make a living off of what they do then more power to them
Go find your preference but nobody from MLBTR owes anything to us
I don’t have a problem with them advertising
I’m just a little surprised they’re advertising a company that’s had some trouble recently
People will complain about anything and everything….even free stuff
not even those “free” aps on your phone
They are all selling your data and making a bundle doing it
Privacy is the price we pay for “free” content
I genuinely have no problem with the adverts – I mean they’re occasional as opposed to TV
You would think the powers that be (Tim Dierkes) would check the value of the product he is willing to promote
I’ll try to get my new airline (Plummet Air – only the price drops) on here…
(PS – We have own wine too – Chateau Verthefloor)
They’re a tech and data collections company from my past research of helping one friend decide whether they wanted to be on the platform
They tried to scale too quickly and often made poor algorithmic matchings with clients and therapists
There is a great deal of nuance in this intricate process
You can’t really expect IT engineers and programmers to know how to do this well
Someone will pick him up once he clears release waivers
He really wasn’t that bad maybe because the bar was so low
Before he got hurt (spare the joke here) he was hitting
He only has two HRs to go along with his 36/9 K/W in 82 ABs
It is difficult to imagine he had a hot streak amidst those numbers
Even with Sano’s reported weight loss
it will be hard for someone to “pick him up”
could see maybe like the Pirates trying to platoon him with Rowdy a bit
Y’all wanna hear a neat story about Miguel Sano
Just what I was looking for when I was seeking out MLB news
But the insertion of a mental health advertisement seemed a bit out of place
Not out of place with the mental state of many of the commenters here….
Many commenters who do nothing but insult others rather than keep focussed on the baseball issues being talked about on MLBTR need the use of therapy
The mental health therapy advertising for MLBTR users was far too long in coming
Especially in these touch economic times and high inflation
Feel bad for this guy having to find a new gig to pay bills
I remember there was a controversy with the Pirates trying to sign Sano as a prospect and something happened to make it not work
Was around the time I first started getting very into baseball
He ate the entire city’s supply of Primantis sandwiches then was making a move toward the Iron City Brewery before he was stopped by Godzilla and shipped off to Minneapolis
and he was a 25 year old rookie claiming to be 17
or keep eating and try out for the rams or chargers at tackle
Some team needs to help Sano break the strikeout records either the season and/or career (but that is a long-term situation – unlikely)
I think he was much older than claimed and he’s probably pushing 40 now and that’s why he’s declining….That is the problem with latin players
You have 14 and 15 year old’s from latin countries playing in the little league world series for christ sake
Wasn’t Albert Pujols also much older than originally claimed
It just seems how business is done there…
but he said something about playing against dotel
and he was a couple years younger and he was busted about his age

but as someone working in the football world
I feel it's extremely regrettable," former Japan captain and defender Miyamoto said during a board meeting
Miyamoto was said to have also expressed his belief that "re-education is required for national team players," a sentiment echoed by others attending the meeting
Sano made his Japan debut last November and was part of the Samurai Blue squad for the Asian Cup held in Qatar from January to February
He was to start training with his new club
next Sunday after joining the German Bundesliga club on a four-year deal on July 3 from J-League first-division club Kashima Antlers
Kashima Antlers defensive midfielder Kaishu Sano has signed for Mainz on a four-year deal until 2028
the German Bundesliga club announced Wednesday
who joined Kashima last season and stood out with his abilities to win the ball and drive forward from deep midfield

Prior to Sunday's defeat against the Cleveland Guardians that resulted in a series sweep
who's been sidelined with left knee inflammation since April 26
The veteran slugger began a minor league rehab assignment this past week with the Angels' Arizona Complex League team
Sanó's timeline on rejoining the Angels encountered an unusual setback
He told reporters that Sanó suffered a burn on his left knee due to leaving a heating pad on too long
such as how long Sanó left the heating pad on or how high the temperature was on the device
But not using the padding was probably his biggest mistake
Sanó signed a minor league deal with the Angels in spring training after missing the 2023 season with a cartilage issue in his left knee and an injured tibia. He reported to camp in Tempe, Arizona 60 pounds lighter than the year before
In 21 games (71 plate appearances) this season
Sanó has hit for a .262 average and .713 OPS with three doubles
The Angels are 20–33 and last in the AL West
Sano, 31, made his return to the majors after missing the 2023 season. Signing a minor league deal in January, Sano clubbed four home runs in spring training and earned a spot on the Angels' Opening Day Roster.
A knee injury sent Sano to the injured list for nearly two months. Since returning from the injured list on June 25, he has only appeared in seven games, recording one hit in that span. Sano is slashing .205/.295/313 with just two homers so far this season.
Los Angeles now has five days to trade Sano or put him on waivers. He is unlikely to draw trade interest and could be released if he declines an assignment to the minors.
By Anthony Franco | July 8
Sanó made a return to professional baseball this year after sitting out the 2023 season
He signed a minor league deal with the Angels in January and hit four homers in 23 Spring Training contests
That was enough to nab a spot on the Opening Day roster in a backup role
Sanó got a bit of run as a designated hitter through the season’s first couple weeks before a left knee injury sent him to the injured list
The veteran slugger was out of action for nearly two months
The Halos reinstated him from the IL on June 25 but have only gotten him into seven games over the past few weeks
Sanó only has one hit since his activation and carries a .205/.295/.313 batting line over 95 plate appearances
Opponents have punched him out 36 times (a 37.9% rate)
continuing the career-long struggle Sanó has had in making consistent contact
It’ll be the veteran infielder’s first game action since he suffered a partially torn left hamstring on April 20
The Halos have five days to trade Sanó or put him on waivers
He’s not likely to draw any trade interest and could decline an assignment to the minor leagues
so he’ll very likely be released this week
Los Angeles Angels Transactions Anthony Rendon Miguel Sano
I think you’re wasting your time here and better served by pursuing a career in politics
@hudler’s son what about your ten accounts saying the same troll comments over until you find a new one for the week
Just tell him to hang around town for a couple of days until Rendon tears a fingernail
and there’s about 10 of you that say the same things
I’ll see you post the same garbage on a different name
Who would copy a guy using Simone else’s name?
But this is the internet comment section…..seriously why copy a copy?
but Sano will be back on the big league roster when Rendon will inevitably get hurt
It’s musical chairs on the deck of the Titanic
The Angels want to hang onto Anderson who is turning 35 when they can get two high end prospects
Taylor Ward is turning 31– he’s good
but replaceable and brings back a top prospect
Trade everyone you can not named Neto or O’Hoppe
They at least made it out into the ocean and hit an iceberg
This ship sunk at the pier with the ropes still tied to it
I think you may be overvaluing Anderson and Ward here
Anderson is having a nice year but you’re not going to get two high end prospects for him
And there’s no way you’d get a top prospect for a guy who
I believe an average Joe outfielder is a zero WAR
You’d gotta give Ward at least being a slightly better than ave
How do you know what the Angels want to do
Replacement player is generally thought of as an average glove and 80ops+
An 800 OPS+ would be the greatest player whoever lived
I think you just arbitrarily picked a number
rockiesmagicnumber probably changed their post because it doesn’t say 800 OPS+ anymore
Players like Ward are not just replaceable
You can’t just go out and magically get a player like that
Thats why even good teams often have a chunk of young productive players they called up from their own system
Because they get the numbers with the ability to control those salaries
Replaceable players are the ones at the bottom of the roster
or that starting player who just can’t get it together
all you need to know about the Angels is in this article
They are activating a primadonna to play 4 games before his inevitable next injury and are DFA’ing a guy who should not have been on an MLB roster to begin with
the article mentions guys like Guillorme and Huira
who have no business collecting a MLB check
To say this team is a dumpster fire would be wholly accurate and I would be happy to light the match
Sano just came back he looked decent before his injury hard to justify Calhoun over him he can play first and third
I don’t want to see willie in the outfield
If they can trade pillar for a peanut vendor they can call up marisnick
Nukeg saying Hiura doesn’t deserve a MLB paycheck is ridiculous
The man has a career 104 OPS+ and is still only 27
He was an above average hitter last year and smashed AAA this year
Hyperbole on a message board?… say it ain’t so
Many posters are incapable of making solid points
Just read the post below mine by remember the coop
I’m sure Rendon will be back on the IL by the weekend
He’ll pull a hamstring walking into the clubhouse
I wonder which retread gets that roster spot in a few days when Rendon goes back on the IL
Do you think Sano makes it through dfa limbo in time to get picked back up or he still there when Rendon goes back on the IL
Accept the assignment and then wait at the team hotel for a few hours until his recall from the minors
Sano has never been able to hit for average and strikes out constantly
@hopeful yeah I agree but he’s more valuable than Calhoun because he’s surprisingly a good defender
It’s pretty much like grasping at straws but he can play 1st and third
I can’t believe he’s still on the roster in July
I know he had a good spring and Wash wanted to set the precedent for rewarding hard work
But his at bats have been so ass this year
Hard work should’ve been applied to diet and conditioning
He actually wasn’t in bad shape just got hurt
He was in the best shape I’d seen him in years at the start of the year
@sodo hiura pushed him out since he’s been lighting up triple a
I would’ve got rid of Calhoun because you could’ve slid him back to minors possibly
Are you referring to former Yankees and Angels cleanup hitter
We need a third baseman for when Rendon goes on the dl
IF he could have gotten enough at bats I think he had a real shot to break the single season strikeout record
Was it painful when you lost your sight or were you born this way
Biggest issues with SANO has been not being able to go down dugout steps without becoming winded and being unable to fit through the door to the clubhouse
Although I do recall one story that recalled that he became stuck in the tunnel to the clubhouse.
I’d say that Sanyo’s career fell off of a cliff
but that wouldn’t quite get the idea across
Sanyo was a good tv brand in the 90’s
Throwing a TV off of a Himalayan cliff would be fun to watch
I said before the season started that Ron Washington was the worst manager in baseball
He was doing cocaine while managing the Rangers
“Worst manager in baseball”…Talk about exaggerations
Wash took the Rangers to back to back World Series appearances and came within a misplayed fly ball(in RF) of winning a World Series
He’s arguably the most coveted fielding coach in MLB and has been credited with reviving several careers
including the Rangers’ Marcus Semien
Anaheim’s issues reside in the owner’s box
hence the hiring of new managers on an almost yearly basis
Butch Hobson fired as manager and never seen from in mlb again after busted with coke
less than handful of years later he’s back on the job and fans annointing him some kind of kingmaker ever since and that’s been going on for years
Wonder what difference between Washington and Hobson.
@johnsilver its the same reasons why guys like Chapman
all got second chances but a former Cy Young award winner like Bauer still is without a job
who I’ll add was never found guilty of any crime
I applaud the consistency of your trash posts
“What difference between Washington and Hobson”…There are major “differences” between the cocaine cases of Ron Washington and Butch Hobson
One is that one was a criminal case(Hobson)and the other was more of a civil/administrative case “prosecuted” by MLB(Washington)
Hobson got arrested and booked by the local Police and taken to jail whereas Washington failed an employer drug test and therefore faced only an administrative punishment(by his employer) but not a criminal one like Hobson
huge difference between catching a criminal case versus catching an administrative or civil one
Another terrific find by Minasian and the boys in the Latin American scouting department
Of all the players in the Dominican Republic you sign a guy who’s so overweight he goes on a crash diet and then burns his knee from a heating pad….Actually he’s perfect for the Angels
In the Angels trade deadline outlook thread i posted Sano would probably be DFA’d but i thought he’d at least make it to August 1st
This isn’t surprising given that he’s been cold as “Sano” offensively this year
Everyone is talking about Rendon getting hurt
How about the fact that he can no longer hit
Seems the team is better with him on the IL
I really wanted this guy to turn it around with the Angels
Thats what happens when you get hurt while already trying to bounce back from a major injury
In his first game back after a lengthy absence due to a pretty severe hamstring injury
Rendon managed to go 1-for-4 with a garbage time RBI
Well, Los Angeles Angels fans were warned, but the team did indeed bring Anthony Rendon back without sending him on a rehab assignment
With Rendon's return, though, that meant that there was going to be a roster casualty, and unfortunately it was Miguel Sano, who ended up getting designated for assignment
Given everything he went through just to get back to the majors and the injury he had just returned from
By the time Sano was activated from the IL, Rendon was already close to returning
and the writing was on the wall that Sano could be the odd man out
While expectations for Rendon are understandably low
Sano just hasn't played well enough to make that roster decision more difficult for the Angels
with Rendon needing to rotate between third base and DH for the foreseeable future
Hopefully Sano gets another chance elsewhere this year
It is hard to overstate how difficult it is to make it back to the big leagues after being out for a year
he could still find a home on a bench somewhere

LA's roster move to bring back Anthony Rendon ended one of their feel-good stories from this spring

Alabama is home to an incredible range of state parks that have something to offer adventurers year-round
Our Alabama State Parks Passport series highlights all of the stunning outdoor spaces throughout the state that make for the perfect seasonal getaway
The seventh in our series is Monte Sano State Park
According to Alabama State Parks, “Monte Sano State Park is located near Huntsville in northeast Alabama. In Spanish, Monte Sano means ‘Mountain of Health.’ In the late 1800s, visitors from across the United States came for ‘the season’ to experience and enjoy Monte Sano’s fresh air, spectacular views, and mineral springs.”
Monte Sano State Park is also home to the Monte Sano Lodge which offers an idyllic mountain setting for a variety of events from family celebrations to business meetings. Within the lodge are meeting rooms, large and small, a lobby, and a break room as well as a terrace and restrooms.
Monte Sano State Park is home to incredible vistas. Spanning over 2,000 acres, the park offers scenic views that are especially spectacular as the state’s seasonal blooms are on display. At certain times of the year, 20 miles of hiking trails and 14 miles of biking trails see the native azaleas in their most beautiful state.
The area around Lake Guntersville State Park is home to a number of destinations for park visitors to enjoy. Visitors can enjoy the following nearby attractions: The U.S. Space and Rocket Center, Huntsville Botanical Gardens, Burritt on the Mountain, Early Works Family of Museums, and Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment. Lake Guntersville, Cathedral Caverns, and Buck’s Pocket are reachable within roughly an hour’s drive.
Sano Café, a fast-casual eatery that embodies healthy living and mindful eating, is poised to open at Amazon-leased Centre 425 tower on 106th Avenue Northeast
I recently had the privilege of interviewing one of the owners of Sano from Conscious Hospitality Group
Established in 2017 with its flagship location on Mercer Island
Sano Café quickly garnered a loyal following for its dedication to wholesome ingredients
Sano was poised to extend its reach beyond Mercer Island
The decision to expand to Bellevue was a strategic one
driven by a desire to reach a new demographic while still staying true to their roots
As part of Conscious Hospitality Group’s vision to see a Sano Café in every city
Bellevue presented an ideal location with its proximity to Mercer Island yet distinct market dynamics
Sano Café’s Bellevue spot promises to be a hub of activity
inviting space adorned with ample windows and infused with a touch of bohemian charm reminiscent of Tulum
the café aims to be more than just a dining destination—it aspires to be a community gathering place
the Bellevue menu will build upon the foundation laid by its Mercer Island counterpart
the café will introduce an expanded coffee selection
the owners of Sano have ambitious plans for the future
the goal is to have 6-10 establishments open by the end of 2025
Each location will embody the Sano ethos while embracing the unique character of its surroundings
Operating hours for the Bellevue location are slated to be seven days a week
with the possibility of adjustments based on demand
Dedicated parking spots will be available within the building’s parking garage
Sano Cafe is currently awaiting permit approval from the City of Bellevue before beginning construction
The team is also in the process of obtaining permits for curbside pickup to offer convenient options for customers
Details about Sano's case over the last two weeks remained sketchy
There were unsubstantiated reports that Sano had confessed
Sano's name was attached to a public statement of apology released by the public prosecutors office expressing remorse for the victim
Contacted by the local "AZ Mainz" newspaper for comment
Japanese legal expert Julius Weitzdörfer of the University of Hagen interprets the statement as a mere formality.
such statements are commonplace in Japanese society
Sano and two other reported assailants are expected to apologize to the alleged victim for the burden placed on them by the investigations
The so-called "apology" does not translate to admission of guilt
Sano's release and the cancellation of the charges affirm's the player's innocence.
Coincidentally, there was also fresh news to report on in another Mainz personnel matter involving legal issues on Wednesday afternoon. The lawyer representing Dutch-Moroccan attacker Anwar El Ghazi in an ongoing legal dispute with the Palatinate club over back-pay confirmed that El Ghazi had voluntarily terminated his Mainz contract
The 29-year-old has done so ahead of signing with another club.
The Nullfünfter had lodged an appeal against the verdict issued by a German labor court ordering Mainz to pay El Ghazi €1.7 million in back-wages after he was released by the club over a pro Palestinian social media post last autumn. The matter is now a moot point as El-Ghazi has found a new employer
The former Aston Villa and Everton professional is headed back to the Isle.
El Ghazi is reportedly in Wales completing his medical
The Mainz contract and claim for back-pay must be dropped in order for the twice-capped Dutch international to sign his new deal
Confirmation of the Cardiff move is expected to come later today.
Japanese footballer Kaishu Sano and two male acquaintances have not been indicted for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in a Tokyo hotel room last month
It is not immediately known why prosecutors decided not to indict Sano and the two other men after they were arrested on July 14 on suspicion of the assault that allegedly occurred the same day
Sano has been capped four times for Japan after making his national team debut last November
He joined Mainz in the German Bundesliga on July 3 on a four-year deal from J-League first-division club Kashima Antlers

The Pinacoteca Nazionale di Siena recomposes after centuries the Polyptych of the Gesuati by Sano di Pietro (Siena
1405 - 1481): the Madonna Enthroned between St
is in fact reunited for the first time in a long time with its predella with the Stories of St
Thanks to the important loan from the Louvre
the public can thus admire again in its entirety the masterpiece that Sano di Pietro
one of the most innovative and prolific painters of 15th-century Siena and at the head of an important
well-organized workshop that specialized in small- to medium-sized panels intended for private devotion
created in 1444.The Gesuati Polyptych represents the painter’s earliest work for which we have certain documentation
It is a masterpiece of high technical quality that reveals an already fully mature artist
the influence of his training alongside Sassetta emerges; on the other
there is a sensitivity to the innovations of Florentine painting of the time
especially in the treatment of light on the figures
the presence of numerous elements in continuity with the style of the Master of the Osservanza places this work at the center of the debate on the attribution of Sano di Pietro’s early production
raising questions about the possible identification between the two
“To find an entire polyptych in a museum or church is more unique than rare,” Axel Hémery
director of the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Siena
“And Sano di Pietro’s Gesuati Altarpiece in the Pinacoteca is an absolute masterpiece of both carpentry and painting
the predella has been missing since the 19th century
The isolated predella in the Louvre is often approximated to the miniature
while the Polyptych evokes the connection between painters
Only by bringing the predella and the altarpiece together can we get the right view of the object
Collecting history has long separated the five Stories of Saint Jerome from the rest of the polyptych
The polyptych is first mentioned in the Pinacoteca di Siena in the catalog compiled by Cesare Brandi in 1933
although it is unclear when it entered the collection
purchased by the Musée du Louvre in 1863 from the Campana collection in Rome
belonging to the Rinuccini collection in Florence
There is little doubt that the polyptych corresponds to the one described in historical sources as coming from the church of the convent of San Girolamo in Siena
Founded in 1355 by Blessed Giovanni Colombini
the order was deeply committed toassisting the poor and needy
so the polyptych is symbolic of the devotional fervor that characterized Siena at that time
The charitable vocation of the order is recalled by the presence
The recomposition of the entire Gesuati Polyptych therefore represents a unique opportunity to appreciate the work’s overall iconographic program
it is a masterpiece that celebrates theascetic and penitential ideal promoted by the Jesuit order
beloved by the Sienese for having dedicated himself to theassistance of the poor and needy by renouncing a life of affluence
and depicted in the central compartment as he kneels to receive the Virgin’s blessing
revered by the Jesuits for his hermitic ideal and penitential inclination
who is instead depicted in the left-hand compartment
The link between the saint and the order is narrated in the five scenes of the predella
in which emblematic moments from the life of St
with a particular focus on the spirituality of penance
In addition to the image of the saint in penitence in the desert (Sano di Pietro depicts him in a cave
one can see the rare episode of the dream in which St
Jerome saw himself dragged before Christ and accused of devoting himself to the study of the classics instead of Doctrine
and for this he is beaten by two angels (the first panel starting from the left)
The large central compartment depicts the two scenes of the saint removing the thorn from the lion’s paw and of the latter bringing back to the convent the donkey stolen by the merchants
the saint’s death is depicted alongside his appearances to Cyril of Jerusalem
The Gesuati Polyptych is striking for its exceptional state of preservation and the overall integrity of the woodwork
Also striking is the use of vivid and precious colors
such as the lapis lazuli used for the Virgin’s robe
which still retains a highly refined glazed effect
luminous colors are especially evident in the predella
which looks like a large-scale miniature because of the depiction of almost fairy-tale landscapes and the fine attention to detail
The recomposition of the Gesuati Polyptych, which comes at a time of renewed interest in early 15th-century Sienese painting, stimulated by the recent Massa Marittima exhibition dedicated to Sassetta
has been made possible thanks to a collaboration between the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Siena and the Louvre in Paris
the Sienese museum has lent Duccio di Buoninsegna ’s Madonna dei Francescani to the Parisian museum on the occasion of the exhibition Revoir Cimabue
Aux origines de la peinture italienne running from Jan
“One year after the final reunion of the Pala dell’Osservanza
the Pinacoteca does a new fundamental in-depth work thanks to the Musée du Louvre,” Hémery continues
"The project grew out of the loan of Duccio’s Franciscan Madonna to the exceptional Revoir Cimabue exhibition at the Louvre and the idea of contributing doubly to the construction of art history with an exchange of loans that brings substance and richness to our two institutions
The idea shared with the president of the Louvre
is that this partnership will initiate other initiatives that could also involve the musée du Petit Palais in Avignon."
According to the director of the National Picture Gallery
partnerships such as the one the Sienese museum has established with the Louvre allow “past vicissitudes to be redressed.” And
“the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Siena is the museum where the polyptych object is best read especially in its dimension as a masterpiece of carpentry
were the only form known to art lovers in the countries of import of Sienese art
Placing the Louvre predella next to the Siena Gesuati Polyptych is to restore meaning to the past and embellish the present.”
Also in the vein of research on early 15th-century Sienese painting is the initiative promoted by the Friends of the Pinacoteca to reunite the Pala dell’Osservanza
which gave its name to the Master of the Observance
is currently on display in the same room as the Gesuati Polyptych
thus offering a valuable opportunity to compare the two works
A juxtaposition that makes it possible to deepen the debate on the attribution of Sano di Pietro’s early activities and possible identification with the anonymous Master of the Osservanza
On the occasion of the exhibition event at the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Siena of recomposition of the Gesuati Polyptych
there will also be numerous cultural activities aimed at involving the citizenship
games for the youngest and in-depth guided tours

Progress in medical science and technology drastically improved physicians’ ability to interact with patient’s physical body
medicine still addresses the human body from a Hippocratic point of view
considering the organism and its processes just as a matter of mechanics and fluids
the interaction between the cognitive neuroscience of bodily self-consciousness (BSC)
fundamentally rooted in the integration of multisensory bodily inputs
haptic technologies and robotics is giving a new meaning to the classic Juvenal’s latin dictum “Mens sana in corpore sano” (a healthy mind in a healthy body)
This vision provides the basis for a new research field
“Embodied Medicine”: the use of advanced technologies for altering the experience of being in a body with the goal of improving health and well-being
most of the research efforts in the field have been focused upon how external bodily information is processed and integrated
we believe that existing bodily illusions still need to be improved to enhance their capability to effectively correct pathological dysfunctions
they do not follow the suggestions provided by the free-energy and predictive coding approaches
they lacked to consider a peculiar feature of the human body
the multisensory integration of internal inputs (interoceptive
proprioceptive and vestibular) that constitute our inner body dimension
a future challenge is the integration of simulation/stimulation technologies also able to measure and modulate this internal/inner experience of the body
we also proposed the concept of “Sonoception” as an extension of this approach
The core idea is to exploit recent technological advances in the acoustic field to use sound and vibrations to modify the internal/inner body experience
individuals process their body in a probabilistic manner as the most likely to be “me”
the experience of the body is the result of a probabilistic process associating the different unimodal properties of the body from several sensory systems: exteroception (the body perceived through the senses
proprioception (the sense of the position of the body/body segments originating through input of muscles and joints)
vestibular input (the sense of motion and position of the body originating through vestibular system coding for the head position and movements) and interoception (the sense of the physiological condition of the body originating through muscular and visceral sensations or vasomotor activity)
highlighting the existence of biochemical mechanisms accounting for the dependency of multisensory body integration and BSC on the immune system
which may have important “implications for a range of neurological
psychiatric and immunological conditions where alterations of multisensory integration
body representation and dysfunction of the immune system co-exist” (p
- by changing what is predicted by selecting only the sensory activity that confirms the model’s predictions (as happens in the RHI)
This is achieved by reallocating resources to a previously deprioritized region of space and/or re-planning a motor response to an unexpected stimulus;
- by changing the predictions of the model through the dynamic optimization of its parameters. However, this happens only when the level of estimation of uncertainty (Courville et al., 2006)
which reflects the agent’s knowledge of the environment and can be reduced when the agent has the opportunity to make further observations of the environment
the use of advanced technologies to modify our experience of being in a body to improve health and well-being
At present, different companies are also working in this direction. For instance, Doppel
developed a wearable technology able to alter the heart rhythm by providing a customized haptic feedback to the wrist
The device is based on the concept of “entrainment”—a process by which people innately respond to external rhythms by auto-adjusting their heart rate to synchronize with the beat
we propose the concept of “Sonoception” as a possible extension of this non-invasive approach
These examples suggest a direct link between sound and vibration
somatosensory experiences and different diseases through the mediation of mechanoreceptors
Based on this knowledge, and with the aim of s(t)imulating all the components of the inner body, the technology used by Sonoception would make use of the technology displayed in Figure 1. Specifically, (for a detailed description of the technology and rationale, see Table 1):
- For Interoception we will employ contactless acoustic transducers to stimulate mechanoreceptors from chest and abdomen
inducing respectively the perception of movements in the heart in the stomach
A different strategy will be employed for the two organs; while ultrasounds will be used for the stomach
we plan to use low bass frequencies for the heart
- For Proprioception and the Vestibular Input
we will use vibrotactile transducers to stimulate mechanoreceptors placed on muscles and on otolith organs within the vestibular system
(A) A novel non-invasive technological paradigm using wearable acoustic and vibrotactile transducers
This approach is able to modulate the inner body through the perception of movements in specific body parts
(B) Low Bass Frequency and Ultrasounds contactless transducers are embedded in a jacket akin to a life-vest
inducing the illusion of the perception of movements from the heart and the stomach
(C) A detail of a wearable linear actuator that conduces bone-vibration evoking vestibular myogenic potentials originating from selective activation of the otolithic organs
(D) Battery pack and electronics are hidden on the back of jacket
This system will be easy to wear and to integrate with other interfaces such as bio-signal recording and stimulation systems
(E) A detail of the spindle actuator applied to a wrist produces a sensation of hand displacement
By exploiting the technology based on the concept of Sonoception
it will be possible to modulate the inner body (including interoception
to explore how these changes may affect the internal/inner subjective experience and
to understand how variations of inner (interoceptive
proprioceptive and vestibular) signals are related to BSC
We are aware of the explorative nature of this approach but we believe that Sonoception could open novel scientific questions on the relationship between the self and inner subjective experience
With these probable/proposed changes, a possible long-term goal is the reverse engineering of the psychosomatic processes. While the inter-disciplinary medical field of psychosomatic medicine explores the relationship between psychosocial and behavioral factors on bodily processes (Kiecolt-Glaser et al., 2002), embodied medicine could do the opposite, i.e., altering bodily processes to influence psychosocial and behavioral factors (Riva, 2016a)
We suggest a software module working in a closed loop (e.g.
a classifier like the technologies used in the Brain-Computer Interfaces) to facilitate the integration of the external (exteroceptive) and internal/inner (interoceptive
proprioceptive and vestibular) inputs originating from the body and the environment
This software will process and classify the psychophysiological signals
which will be translated as vibratory signals and sent back to the body by the contactless acoustic transducers in real time
This approach will allow the development of a hardware/software platform bridging VR with bio/neuro-feedback and brain/body stimulation technologies and offer an integrated tool able to address all the components of our bodily experience
future clinical studies are needed to identify the best protocols and combination of technological tools to transform the dictum “Mens Sana in Corpore Virtuale Sano” into reality
future research should aim at exploring the psycho-physiological and neural mechanisms enabling integration between inner body signals and exteroceptive inputs in (healthy and) clinical conditions characterized by alterations of body representation and multisensory integration of bodily information

Germany (AP) — Bundesliga club Mainz says it is “surprised” by Japanese media reports that new signing Kaishu Sano was arrested in Japan
“We cannot yet evaluate or comment on these reports due to a lack of information,” the club said Wednesday on the social network X
“We’re trying to clarify the matter as quickly and comprehensively as possible.”
He signed a four-year deal and is the club’s third Japanese signing after Shinji Okazaki and Yoshinori Muto
was to join his new teammates in Mainz for preseason training on Sunday
Toyota junior Yuki Sano won two Japanese Formula 4 races at Sportsland SUGO
although only got points for one of his victories
who won the season opener from pole then went two rounds without a top-five finish
Last weekend he stepped up to Formula Regional Japan at Fuji Speedway and made an immediate impact by taking pole and victory in both races
He hoped that would provide momentum for his F4 campaign
OTG Motor Sports’ Kenta Kumagai was the surprise pacesetter in the first set of practice sessions by 0.007 seconds over Honda junior Yuto Nomura
then in the wet conditions of the second group of sessions Nomura led Toyota junior Tokiya Suzuki by 0.546s
setting a 1m42.135s to take race one pole by 0.274s
Ponos Racing’s Kento Omiya was second fastest
with team-mate Rintaro Sato and Bionic Jack Racing’s Ryo Shirasaki the only others within a second of pole
Drivers’ second-best laptimes set race two’s grid
A 1m42.433s put him 0.222s ahead of Omiya and 0.833s clear of fellow Toyota junior Kazuhisa Urabe
Honda’s points-leading junior Ryota Horachi qualified seventh and fifth for the two races
The track was still sodden and visibility was poor when race one began
so the safety car led the field for four laps
“Yugo” retired in the pits at the end of lap one
Sano was brave enough to brake late into turn one despite not knowing how much grip he would have at racing speeds
then lost another place to a great around-the-outside move by Kumagai
Omiya and Sato pulled away from the rest of the field
and on lap six Makio Saito spun but got going again so no yellow flags were required
At the final corner Sato swept past Omiya for second
On lap eight their battle was paused by the safety car returning so spinner “Kentaro” could have his car cleared
The field was released again on the final lap
Urabe had to hold off Suzuki and Toyota junior Kiyoshi Umegaki took sixth from Nomura after an agressive side-by-side battle
Horachi only had two points taken out of his lead by finishing eighth
Shouma Arimura was a few places behind before spinning out
The 34-car field was split into two on Sunday
with the drivers usually fighting to top the independent classification getting their own race
They got to lap five of running behind the safety car before red flags waved and the race ended with worsening rain and half-points being awarded
with just one-and-a-half laps behind the safety car before red flags terminated proceedings and made it a points-free race

according to the police and investigative sources
The three men are believed to have eaten with the woman and a friend of hers on Saturday evening before heading to the hotel together
The woman's friend went home before the incident
The arrest comes after German Bundesliga club Mainz announced on July 3 that it had signed a four-year deal until 2028 with the defensive midfielder
He had previously been with J-League first-division team Kashima Antlers
Mainz said it was "surprised" by the reports of Sano's arrest but refrained from commenting further on the case
The player had been due to join the club for training next Sunday
Kashima Antlers released a statement expressing "great concern" in its capacity as the player's former club
the club does not have the details and will continue to watch the situation closely," it read
