cost-competitive care bundles through its CareConnect Marketplace
announced today that they are partnering to provide CirrusMD’s members and plan sponsors with an additional solution for managing healthcare costs while delivering added value to employees and their dependents.
The combination of CirrusMD and Tendo leverages CirrusMD's Physician-first Care model to guide a patient to the next best step in care
the patient and their CirrusMD physician will now have the option of Tendo's CareConnect Marketplace - which supports 30 different specialties
with transparent pricing that results in total procedure cost savings
CirrusMD is making the Tendo CareConnect Marketplace available to its customers and their members at no additional cost.
“The Tendo relationship is a great addition for our customers
supporting the guidance component of our Physician-first Care & Guidance model to find and access high-quality care provided at transparent cash-pay pricing discounts,” said Jamie Hall
Lowering financial barriers and illuminating high-quality care options are two important steps to improving access in what can otherwise be a cost-prohibitive
and frustrating effort to find the care one needs.”
CirrusMD’s virtual care model provides employees with always-on access to a doctor who begins delivering care in less than 60 seconds
ensures employees can reach a doctor anytime
CirrusMD doctors deliver whole-person primary
The multidisciplinary clinical team is armed with real-time access to employer-sponsored benefits and in-network resources referring individuals seamlessly at the point of care when they need it most

which are often significantly lower than the national insurance average
CirrusMD physicians and patients will be able to find affordable

The partnership also expands on CirrusMD's mission to help those who are most underserved by the U.S
by assisting the underinsured in finding affordable cash-pay options for high-quality care.
“Our goal at Tendo is a transparent healthcare marketplace that simplifies healthcare commerce for patients and providers,” said Ben Maisano

as a trusted and convenient healthcare navigator and virtual primary care provider that is working with employers
we can better manage the total cost of care during referrals.”

and scheduling coordination—to provide a comprehensive solution for employers who want to optimize healthcare delivery
The combined solution streamlines the patient’s journey through the healthcare system
navigating across benefit resources and care settings
to identify the highest-quality and most cost-effective care options for our members

A 40-year-old Ugandan man and Colchester resident who wants asylum in the U.S
will be allowed to stay at least until the summer
That’s after Steven Tendo reported to a “last-minute” meeting Tuesday at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in St. Albans. He had feared he would be deported, according to reporting from VTDigger.
he was met by cheers from 80 or so supporters
who waited for 20 minutes — in frigid temperatures — for Tendo to emerge
“I’m still with you for the next six months,” he said
Tendo has been trying to get asylum since he crossed the U.S.-Mexico border into Brownsville
after experiencing “numerous arrests and torture” in his home country of Uganda
The U.S. government’s response denies these allegations of medical neglect and mistreatment. That lawsuit is still making its way through U.S. District Court in Vermont.
And Tendo has stayed thus far. He was released from detention in 2021 and moved to Vermont that year. He’s since started training to become a fully-licensed nurse at University of Vermont Medical Center, and has also been active in a local church.
Tendo has continued reporting regularly to the St
who’s also the director of the Center for Justice Reform Clinic (CJRC) at Vermont Law and Graduate School
says Tendo wasn’t expecting to visit ICE today
“It was a bit last-minute,” Stokes said Tuesday
and we don't really have a way of knowing what are these appointments for.”
He said Tendo and his legal team assumed the worst
“Given that Steven does have a deportation order
especially given the inauguration yesterday
that they could be ramping up enforcement operations even further in Vermont
and could be taking Steven into detention,” Stokes said
The Trump administration’s approach to immigration was the reason some of Tendo’s supporters gave for showing up outside the ICE office Tuesday
Like 70-year-old Becky Galvin from Burlington. She said she didn’t know Tendo personally, but she had read about what a valued community member he is
and she worried about Tendo’s last-minute call from ICE becoming a pattern
“I feel that one of the very few things we can do is stand as witnesses
in solidarity with the people that are at risk of being victimized by new immigration policies,” Galvin said
a 30-year-old member of the Vermont Latino immigrant farmworker community
who we are only calling by her middle name due to her legal status
“Whenever someone from the migrant community is under attack
because they also have to know that the community is organized
and we have to support them so that this does not lead to an arrest or something,” she said in Spanish through an interpreter from Migrant Justice
While Tendo and his legal team were prepared for him to be detained and deported
Stokes said they got a stay of removal request on file — and it appears ICE will approve it
As for why this “last-minute” visit happened at all on Tuesday — Tendo said ICE told him they made a mistake about the timing of his next appointment and wanted to clear that up
ICE did not respond to a request for comment
Stokes says Tendo and the legal team will continue proceeding with the lawsuit
and that they also hope to reopen his asylum case
Tendo’s next check-in with ICE is scheduled for July

NAIROBI (Kenya) - Uganda's City Oilers got their campaign for a third Basketball Africa League (BAL) qualification off to a great start
seeing off Fox basketball from South Sudan 77-47
The Andrew Tendo-coached side had a strong start
going 24-6 up in a dominant first quarter performance
the advantage carrying them through a match where their opponent's resolve for a comeback increased with each passing minute
Oilers kept the fight going in a 20-15 second quarter to carry a 23-point advantage to the halftime break
Two quarters of 21-13 and 13-12 sealed the deal for the Ugandans
a perfect start for coach Tendo who is no stranger to this level of basketball
having served as the side's assistant coach in all their previous editions
"This is the start we had envisioned as it is always good to win
Victory in the first match means we have the momentum for the rest of the competition and this is what we had been preparing for in the last three weeks
consistency is key in such a high level tournament and we have to remain focused," Tendo told FIBA.basketball
Germaine Roebuck Jr led the charge for Oilers
who have failed to advance to the BAL playoffs in their previous two appearances
who featured for Burundi's Dynamo BBC
in the last Road to BAL came two rebounds short of a double-double
"Everyone wants to win and being on this stage means bringing your all to a game," Otobo said
"The competition is tough but we had good preparations and are hoping to keep this momentum going."
who doubles as the South Sudan national team assistant coach and Fox basketball coach
described the loss as a 'slap on the face'
"Nothing is lost yet," Deng opined
"We came into this competition with little preparations and met a strong Ugandan side that played really well
They are a solid side whose defense proved tough to penetrate and almost all our shots were contested
It was difficult to make any adjustments in this game but it was eye opening."

In August, Japanese furniture company Tendo Mokko will unveil a special exhibition
titled SHAPE OF TENDO at the Isetan Shinjuku department store in Tokyo
Elizabethtown College students compete at an annual regional competition of the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA)
representing the college and flexing their legal expertise
and this cohort brought home some good news with them.
Unlike many schools that offer mock trial only as an extra-curricular
Etown provides the experience as a for-credit class
It is attractive to both legal studies majors and those in fields related to public speaking.
Nearly 20 Etown students competed at American University from February 15-16
sophomore legal studies major Kalen Tendo and junior public relations major Alison Carneal spoke with “The Etownian” about their experience.
Tendo described how the class began preparations last semester .
“None of us had ever competed in high school
so we were pretty new to the whole experience,” Tendo said
“It felt like we were figuring things out step by step.”
Both Tendo and Carneal described some nervousness entering this new experience
which was made easier with the help of their professor
“Our instructor supported us from the first week of the school year and guided us to be as successful as possible,” Carneal said
he gave us advice between rounds and ran drills with us during our breaks to help us with what we struggled with
He also lightened up the mood when we were stressed by telling us other mock trial experiences that he had.”
Tendo served as the team’s captain and was given the chance to step into the role of a leader.
“My responsibilities were a mix of self-assigned tasks and things I delegated to the team,” Tendo said
“I set up meetings outside of class where we worked on case trials and strategies
I also worked closely with my team members
helping them refine their cross-examinations
beginning with a captain’s meeting and going into two rounds of trials
Mock trial rounds are very time-restrictive
with a format that includes 25 minutes for both teams openings
25 minutes for the plaintiffs’ directs and 25 minutes for the defense’s cross examinations
then 25 minutes for the defense’s directs and 25 minutes for the plaintiffs’ cross examination
and make sure no one felt alone or unprepared,” Tendo said
“I wanted everyone to feel confident participating and make sure we were fully ready for the other team.”
The team was shocked during the awards ceremony where
they received the Spirit of AMTA award.
The Spirit of AMTA award is given to teams that earn a perfect score from every opposing team that one faces
based on court demeanor and how they treat their competitors
It recognizes a respectful and considerate attitude throughout the competition.
“We didn’t even know that this award existed
but it felt really special,” Tendo said.“We were just focused on trying to win
but we also wanted to be as welcoming and considerate as possible
We even gave other teams materials like exhibits and trial books to help them out when they didn’t have the resources.”
Both Carneal and Tendo look back on the experience fondly and take pride in their accomplishments. “Walking away from this competition
I am excited for the next mock trial season,” Carneal said
“I also learned so many lessons that are applicable in all aspects of life including the importance of preparation
and most importantly staying kind and respectful even when you are under pressure.”

Philadelphia-founded cloud healthcare platform Tendo announced this week the acquisition of Nashville-based healthcare marketplace MDSave
Dan Goldsmith, cofounder and CEO of the venture-backed Tendo (a 2022 RealLIST Startups honoree)
told Technical.ly the two companies were originally introduced a year ago through a mutual business colleague
While the original intention of connecting wasn’t an acquisition
Goldsmith said both companies prioritize improving patients’ experiences and realized the opportunities that could come about from working together
“We recognize from a technology and offering perspective
the combination of a modern technology platform that we’re building at Tendo
world-class consumer applications that streamline patient experiences and clinician experiences and experiences for navigators with advanced analytics
and now with the MDSave network and marketplace
create a really compelling and comprehensive solution that can serve all of the stakeholders in healthcare
as they’re trying to provide good healthcare to their employees as well,” Goldsmith said
A spokesperson for Tendo declined to disclose the financial details of the deal, but noted it was funded from the company’s balance sheet. Modern Healthcare reported the deal was worth $150 million
We are not disclosing the details of the deal but Modern Healthcare already shared some data in their article
We did fund the deal off of our balance sheet
increasing its headcount to about 160 employees
the company has employees across the country with hubs in Philly
The local teammates often work together in a Center City WeWork and a coworking space in West Chester
“And I think that diversity of backgrounds
locations and experiences really adds to the vibrancy of the culture within the company and frankly
Goldsmith said the company plans to focus on combining the two companies in a way that still prioritizes customer experiences

chief medical information officer at Health First
is working with a startup called Tendo Systems to connect many disparate data sources and present patients with a unified view of their health records
“One of the bigger challenges in medicine these days is having information scattered all over the place,” McKee said
the more that happens and it really should be the opposite
because you need that information to make decisions.”
Even health systems that have an enterprise EHR still encounter this problem
but for systems like Health First that have different hospital and ambulatory EHR systems
the different records are not connected in a meaningful way
“Working with Tendo is our effort to connect the patient experience into one application
and to have that single pane of glass into a patient's experience in our system regardless of which EMR their data was in
or whether they have enrolled in the health plan yet,” McKee said
“We are paying the utmost attention to the patient journey and trying to make it as easy as possible
because healthcare is always going to be hard
Philadelphia-based Tendo was started by siblings Dan and Jen Goldsmith
who helped build Veeva Systems into a multibillion-dollar cloud software company for the life sciences industry
The company is seeking to create a digital engagement platform and suite of configurable applications that connect patients
it is working with Jefferson Healthcare in Philadelphia and Health First
“We have this approach where we're getting five to 10 foundational customers,” said Jen Goldsmith
“Our intention is to be developing in conjunction with these foundational customers to make sure we're getting it right.”
Tendo announced a partnership with Jefferson Health and venture capital firm General Catalyst
we are changing the paradigm of delivery to one where patients are people who want to be able to thrive without healthcare getting in the way and access is simple; what we call healthcare with no address
Tendo shares our vision and has the experience and expertise to deliver the right technology for this change
this is an opportunity to create the best of both worlds bringing together fast paced digital transformation within our healthcare ecosystem.”
Noting that a lot of people have tried to tackle this problem before
I asked Goldsmith if there were some fundamental mistakes others have made that Tendo was going to try not to repeat
“There were what we perceive to be fundamental mistakes,” she said
but I think one of the fundamental mistakes when it comes to the patient experience in particular is starting with a single problem or starting with a shiny object
A lot of companies would gravitate toward an application to support a very specific need
and try to grow outwards from there,” she said
“People would tend to ignore the more mundane aspects of things
But what we found in life sciences when we were creating Veeva Vault
you have to focus on the things that are hard and mundane first
The concept of creating a patient workflow in a way that is consumer-friendly and permeates this kind of consumer experience
and brings that out to patient communities was something that was considered a little bit mundane
a new way of looking at it and required a platform beneath that as well,” she said
“This is the second mistake I'll talk about: I think people can go into the point solutions too quickly and forget about the power of having a platform
which can be a really loaded word in tech and healthcare in particular
But it is important to create a proper platform where you can leverage configurability to create new solutions without having to reinvent the wheel each and every time you accelerate innovation over time.”
Goldsmith said they work with the partners across three individual threads
“We work very deeply on the process thread to understand how things are operating today
and how the interactions between their patient communities and their clinical and administrative communities occur to identify areas for potential optimization or improvement,” she said
“Oftentimes you see a landscape one of the foundational customers refers to it as a ‘fruit salad of different vendors’ within their ecosystem,” she added
“We look very deeply at that and try to identify where there are areas for simplification.”
“We have a discipline within Tendo that is focused on understanding the value and the metrics for success
we ask what are the tangible ROI metrics that are quantifiable that we can start to measure to show the success of the program?”
McKee brings it all back to simplifying the patient experience
“We are trying to make sure that the patient can see their med list of problems or allergies
their radiology results are available in a really convenient way,” he said
“I think that with so many patient portals
And then you have a hard time even finding the lab results
Part of what we're trying to do with Tendo is to focus on not only getting the information there
Goldsmith said the company is looking to move into pilots with its health system partners this summer
“Our goal is to iterate to get to a point where we feel comfortable releasing it more broadly to the healthcare community,” she added
“so we'll stay in the foundational customer program
and iterate heavily there until we feel that the product is ready for broader use

a company that is co-developing a digital engagement platform with provider organizations like Jefferson Health
The funds will be used to advance the development of the platform
which aims to be the "OpenTable" of healthcare
The product of a new type of innovation model, Tendo Systems has raised $50 million in a Series B funding round
led by existing investor Lux Capital with additional participation from General Catalyst
has brought the eight-month-old healthcare software company’s valuation to $550 million
Tendo Systems main goal is to digitize and customize the entire patient care journey
To develop their digital engagement platform
the company is employing a foundational customer model
technology companies will build a small product and they’ll take it out to market and acquire customers
but Tendo is deliberately selecting and partnering with health systems to create a product that can make the patient journey more seamless
Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health
is Tendo’s first foundational customer
partnering with Tendo was a chance to get in on the ground floor of a promising new company and influence the technology being created
“[Providers] have to…become partners in the consumerization of healthcare,” said Dr
president of Thomas Jefferson University and CEO of Jefferson Health
“These things have to happen as partnerships and not the way they did before where EMRs get developed and we react
or telehealth gets developed and we react…What if we really merged the Silicon Valley move-fast-and-break-things mentality with the mission-driven and traditional healthcare ecosystem.”
Tendo Systems, along with Jefferson, is creating a platform that aims to be the “OpenTable” of healthcare
provide medical history via a virtual waiting room and schedule follow-up visits
The company plans to use the recently raised funds for research and development
“We want access and streamlined care to be…at the press of a button,” he said
“It’s a problem today that at the click of a button
I can see my entire financial health but not my entire personal health.”
both Tendo Systems and Jefferson Health see their strategic partnership as the dawn of a new
more collaborative era in health IT innovation
developing a product with access to the wide range of health facilities within the Jefferson system — from academic medical centers and primary care facilities to rehabilitation — will allow Tendo and the health system to co-develop a product that can work across various health settings
The collaboration will also eventually provide an additional source of revenue for Jefferson
“We’ve watched hospital revenue and insurance rates go down
and we’ve watched companies have billions and billions of dollars worth of valuations based on these [new technologies] which we [piloted],” Klasko said
He believes that providers are eager to get in on the revenue stream
rather than just be on the outside looking in
that whole innovation and strategic partnerships new math has become a really important part of our financial outlook,” he added

Sibling team Jennifer and Dan Goldsmith have spent the last few decades building enterprise cloud solutions within the healthcare and education industries
and now have their sights set on their hometown for their next project
After time at companies like IBM and Veeva, the pair went on a listening tour in the healthcare space, and aimed to create a cloud-based platform that tie all parts of the patient and clinician care cycle together. For the last year, they’ve been building Tendo Systems
which makes a platform that would allow the clunkier parts of healthcare — like scheduling appointments
checking in at the front desk and managing communication — to all exist in one place
disparate and difficult to use healthcare applications was a common theme,” Jen Goldsmith
“People saw how simple and connected their everyday lives were and wondered why healthcare was different.”
1 and are currently collaborating with Jefferson Health System
which they’re calling a “foundational customer,” or one that can help provide insight into key problems the software aims to fix in healthcare systems
“Many companies will go out into the market and try and grab as many customers as they can,” Jennifer Goldsmith said
“What we’re doing is different
We’re look at the platforms and applications
and listing to our foundational customers to allow us to address the entire cycle of care.”
There are lots of applications out there for scheduling or managing patient care
but Tendo’s platform intends to connect those that work and consolidate into one useable space
It will be able to be used by the patients themselves and the clinician
Its overall goal is the create exceptional experiences
The platform’s core capabilities are meant to get healthcare systems 85 to 95% of the way there with their needs
and be customizable or configured to their other wishes
It’s working with a small group of these “foundational customers” in 12- to 14-week sprints
and hasn’t yet set a timeline to bring the platform to the wider market just yet
the VC firm that fueled companies like Airbnb
And the company is currently working with a team of about 35, and the duo said they can see that number reaching about 100 by the end of the year. (Check out currently open roles here.) While they are operating remotely
“We’ve always been sort of hybrid of remote and in-person
there’s advantages to both for collaboration
and helps the efficiency of building a team,” Dan Goldsmith said
“But we have an affinity for Philadelphia
it would be great if we can build in the economy here and bring some of our learnings from Silicon Valley here.”

Bill Frist is a co-founder and board member) will now operate as Tendo
The Brentwood office will also remain in operation
Nashville-based Harpeth Capital advised MDsave on the acquisition
