CCP is giving most of the fan blood to the Blood Bank of Iceland
while keeping some to write a calfskin illuminated manuscript about EVE Online
written on genuine vellum in—and here's the kicker—the blood of EVE Online fans
"We're obsessing about this 'foreverness,'" said Pétursson
a really good way is to take blood and write on calfskin
And people in Iceland were doing this 1,000 years ago
CCP revealed an upcoming project to make a book of epic poetry to capture some of the key moments
This "Foundational Poem" will be edited by Icelandic writer Andri Snær Magnason
who will be pulling from "various traditions" across the globe with help from a "network of poets."
Pétursson elaborated on some unique limited editions of the work that will very much not be for sale
CCP will commission a to-be-determined number of the medieval-style manuscripts through an expert in the process
"They mainly worked for the Pope and the British empire," quipped Pétursson
"We're going to put one of the books in [Icelandic manuscript museum] Arnastofnun next to the sagas," Pétursson continued
Fans of EVE will be able to by a more normal version of the epic poem for their own homes
but CCP also plans on letting them make a very direct contribution to the archive copies
"We're gonna get the Blood Bank of Iceland to be here at the next Fanfest," said Pétursson
"You can donate blood for the good of the Blood Bank of Iceland
but we'll take a little bit at a time from every Fanfest attendee
Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals
EVE's next Fanfest is scheduled for May of 2026
and avoid any pesky bloodborne illnesses if you'd like your precious humors to grace the pages of the prime time version of EVE's Foundational Poem

Dead by Daylight’s Tome 22: ANGUISH has arisen
The limits of pain tolerance and mental fortitude will be tested like never before
rewarding your resolve with some of the most extreme Outfits the Archives have ever seen
Descend into one of our most thematically darkest Tomes so far
and celebrate the macabre gift of pain like only Dead by Daylight can offer
Progress along The Rift and beyond to unlock new Outfits for The Blight
The ANGUISH Premium Track offers Outfits that embodies the oppressive feeling of hopelessness
of torment fuelled by an eternity in The Fog
and constricts tighter than the tightest iron bind
To progress is to descend deeper into the darkest corners of The Fog
where your worst nightmares will seem gentle by comparison
One who stands unaffected in the face of such horror is truly one to be feared
Talbot Grimes – The Blight – is one such individual
he was among the few to emerge from a Bleed with sanity intact
not even the Killers were safe from his mad experiments
his cruel curiosity is laid bare with the Past Resurgence Outfit
The profundity of grief can seldom be explained without having felt it
Yet few possess the gift of empathy like Jane Romero
who strove to use her platform to help others
When she interviewed those whose loved ones disappeared amidst a creeping black fog
did she ever fathom that she’d one day be among the lost
haunted by the memories of a mournful lullaby
twisting into a nightmarish prelude to pain for anyone unlucky enough to hear it
her heart was as hardened as the callouses on her bloodstained hands
Though his hands are far more likely to heal than hurt these days
his memories are not blessed with such a privilege
ANGUISH will also feature new Outfits for Renato Lyra
so don’t despair – there's plenty of pain to go around
bleeding into one another like twisted colors on the palette of a deranged artist
Perhaps it was inevitable that Talbot Grimes would find himself exploring such a place
Few tread the line between science and the occult like The Blight
making him uniquely suited for such otherworldly experiments
Discover his unsettling conclusions in a collection of haunting memories
Next week on The Jane Romero Show: In an exclusive and harrowing interview
Jane speaks with the loved ones of three missing people
each of whom vanished in a mysterious cloud of black fog
Complete Challenges to progress further in the Tome and its associated Rift
each containing a new layout for the Auris Web with more Challenges
The Anguish Tome offers players four levels of Challenges to complete
and while many center around focal characters The Blight and Jane Romero
mastery of their Power and Perks is not required to make efficient progress
where all roads lead to a bleak and harrowing destination

UPS is looking to slash about 20,000 jobs and close more than 70 facilities as it drastically reduces the amount of Amazon shipments it handles
The package delivery company said Tuesday that it anticipates making the job cuts this year
It anticipates closing 73 leased and owned buildings by the end of June
UPS said that it is still reviewing its network and may identify more buildings to be shuttered
"The actions we are taking to reconfigure our network and reduce cost across our business could not be timelier," CEO Carol Tomé said in a statement on Tuesday
In January UPS announced that it had reached a deal with Amazon
to lower its volume by more than 50% by the second half of 2026
During UPS' fourth-quarter earnings conference call in January
Tomé said that the company had partnered with Amazon for almost 30 years and that when its contract came up this year
"Amazon is our largest customer but it's not our most profitable customer," Tomé said at the time
Tomé said that UPS considered various options and determined that the volume reduction was the best alternative
also reported its first-quarter financial results on Tuesday
The Atlanta-based company earned $1.19 billion
That's better than the $1.44 per share that analysts polled by Zacks Investment Research were calling for
beating Wall Street's estimate of $21.06 billion
UPS said that it wasn't providing any updates to its previously announced full-year outlook
The company previously said that it expected 2025 revenue of approximately $89 billion
Shares of UPS fell 0.37% by the close of Tuesday trading

13 December 2024 – The Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries
Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UNOHRLLS) congratulates São Tomé and Príncipe on its graduation from the Least Developed Countries (LDC) category
This milestone marks a significant achievement in the country’s development journey and reflects its sustained efforts to achieve robust economic growth
and improve resilience against vulnerabilities
The graduation of São Tomé and Príncipe also underscores the international community's collective efforts to support LDCs in their development trajectories
It is the result of years of strategic planning
The United Nations Committee for Development Policy (CDP) recommended the country’s graduation following its fulfillment of the criteria based on per capita income
and economic and environmental vulnerability indices
Notable accomplishments include the increase in universal health coverage from 47% in 2010 to 59% by 2021 and being ranked 11th among 54 African nations in the 2021 Ibrahim Index of African Governance
“The graduation of São Tomé and Príncipe is a historic milestone that underscores the resilience
and determination of its government and people,” said Ms
High Representative for the Least Developed Countries
“This achievement is a powerful testament to the impact of effective partnership and multilateral cooperation
offering both a model and an inspiration for other LDCs working to overcome structural challenges and achieve sustainable development.”
Graduating from the LDC category is not an end but a new chapter in a country’s sustainable development journey
São Tomé and Príncipe integrated elements of a smooth transition strategy into its national development strategy focusing on maintaining access to concessional financing
and enhancing climate resilience to safeguard progress and sustain momentum toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
“São Tomé and Príncipe’s graduation from the LDC category is an important step forward
but it also comes with heightened expectations and responsibilities,” said Mr
the Chargé d’Affaires of São Tomé and Príncipe’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York
“Consolidating this progress will require coordinated efforts to address economic
and environmental vulnerabilities while leveraging international partnerships
to support sustainable development,” he added
Poverty remains a major issue in São Tomé and Príncipe
with 66.7% of the population living below the poverty line in 2017
marked by inflation reaching 17% in 2023 and rising public debt
The economy remains extremely vulnerable to external shocks due to its reliance on a small number of exports
environmental issues such as climate change and deforestation pose additional threats to socioeconomic stability
the office is mobilizing resources and strengthening capacities to address challenges and seize new opportunities for growth in the country
It will continue to advocate for targeted international support measures and partnerships to ensure that São Tomé and Príncipe and other LDC graduates thrive in their new development paths
As the global community celebrates this remarkable achievement
it is a reminder of the urgent need to accelerate progress for the 44 remaining Least Developed Countries
which collectively face immense challenges exacerbated by global crises such as climate change
The Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries
Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UNOHRLLS) is dedicated to advocating for the sustainable development of LDCs
It promotes global awareness of their unique challenges and mobilizes international support for their development priorities

Spain women's coach Montse Tomé has cited "sporting reasons" once again for leaving 2023 World Cup winner Jenni Hermoso out of her latest squad
Tomé announced her 23-player roster for the upcoming UEFA Women's Nations League double header against Portugal on Friday
Hermoso, who was the victim of the 2023 Women's World Cup kiss scandal
has not played for the national team since October 2024
"There's no reason other than a sporting one," Tomé said
We know she is working to come [back] to the national team
Jenni Hermoso is Spain's leading goal-scorer with 57 goals. Joaquin Corchero/Europa Press via Getty Images"She was in our preliminary squad which means she is doing things well
We believe the 23 players we have chosen are the ones we need for these two games."
Hermoso is Spain's all-time leading scorer with 57 goals in 123 appearances
She joined Mexican side Tigres Femenil in January 2024 and has five goals in 13 league games this season
The 34-year-old revealed her desire to return to play for Spain earlier this week and despite missing out on selection this time
Tomé has not closed the door for Hermoso to play for the national team again
"Jenni has been and is an important player," she said
I've been told and I'm aware that she is keen to keep working to come to the national team
"I've said it many times there is no door close to any player
Our job is to choose the best players based on our needs
"Right now we have 71 players in the preliminary squad
"In this list we have a group of players where we gather youth with a lot of talent
players with experience that are very ambitious," Tomé said
"We are very happy with the group of players we have."

Dinazalda “Didi” Diogo is a fish monger in the small town of Neves in São Tomé and Príncipe (STP)
an island nation off the western coast of Central Africa
left for Portugal about a year ago with the hope to study at the university
Joana’s plan was to finance her living expenses and support her family back home by working on the side
but without any prior professional experience
she has not been able to secure a job in Portugal and is struggling financially
This has left Didi very worried: “I am actually the one thinking about sending money to her now,” she said
68 percent of young Saotomeans say they are considering leaving the country to secure better opportunities abroad
The island economy is not currently creating sufficient quality jobs and social protection remains limited
A third of the working age population who is not at school is economically inactive
Unemployment is 10 percentage point higher than in other lower middle-income countries
and particularly acute among youth (21 percent)
With almost two thirds of the population under the age of 35
STP is currently facing significant emigration pressures
As highlighted in the 2023 World Development Report
migration can significantly contribute to socioeconomic development in both origin and destination countries
including through knowledge transfers and financial remittances
the drivers and impacts of migration have been little studied in the STP
and there is a general sense that the country may not be significantly benefiting from it
as well as interviews with migrant families
increased labor mobility has not translated in meaningful economic gains
The volume of remittances contributed by Saotomean migrants is small and has actually been decreasing over the past decade
while a Saotomean migrant sends an average of US$266 per year
a migrant from Cabo Verde (another Portuguese-speaking lower middle-income island country) manages to send US$1,525
Remittance inflows as share of GDP in selected African low and lower middle-income countries
options to send remittances back to STP are currently limited
migration can also profoundly impact household dynamics
the responsibility to care for children is often transferred to other family members or friends
This can lead to emotional challenges for children
with potential consequences on their social and cognitive development
as our interviews with Saotomean migrants confirmed.
Migration can impact children’s education and quality of care
Towards a more beneficial migration model in STP
Global evidence provides valuable lessons that could help address these challenges:
2. Establishing labor mobility partnerships: Legal migration agreements with countries like Portugal could help better align the skills of migrants with the needs of destination labor markets. For example, Global Skill Partnerships help ensure that migrants are well equipped to contribute
3. Strengthening migration support systems: Effective migration requires robust systems to support migrants and their families
This could include intermediation services to connect migrants with employers abroad or a mobilization of the diaspora to encourage contributions to national development
4. Enhancing remittance infrastructure: Innovations in digital payment services, such as Dobra Digital
to make remittance channels more accessible and affordable
Governments and financial institutions can then incentivize migrants to adopt these services
5. Supporting families left behind: Migrant family members who remain in the country should be protected through social assistance, such as through the World Bank-financed Vulnerable Family Program (VFP)
with special attention to children and adolescents
Adopting some of these recommendations could help STP better leverage migration as a driver of development while minimizing its social costs
This could go a long way to help families like Didi’s
her daughter Joana could secure a stable job abroad
while continuing her studies and supporting her family
Didi remains optimistic: “I hope my daughter will finish her education
and later return to São Tomé to look after me.”

© Shutterstock/Wirestock Creators | Sao Tome and Principe is an island nation situated off the western equatorial coast of central Africa
On 13 December, Sao Tome and Principe exits the least developed countries (LDC) category established by the United Nations General Assembly
The small island developing state off the coast of central Africa
has emerged as a more stable and viable economy with strides in education
The progress was in part bolstered by international support
including technical assistance from UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD)
The list of LDCs currently registers 44
Sao Tome and Principe's average gross national income per capita reached $2,271
well above the LDC graduation threshold set at $1,306
Similarly, the country’s score on the Human Assets Index
a measure of health and education outcomes
far exceeding the graduation threshold of 66
Sao Tome and Principe needs to continue overcoming vulnerabilities linked to its geographic isolation
small size of national markets and heavy reliance on the agricultural sector
Debt distress – when a nation defaults on its financial obligations and debt restructuring is required – also weighs on the Sao Tomean economy.
Its slowing real GDP growth, under 2% between 2021 and 2023, underlines the need for structural reforms to diversify the economy and enhance resilience to external and climate-related risks, particularly floods and rising sea levels.
Graduation could reduce Sao Tome and Principe’s access to certain international support measures exclusive to LDCs.
These can be trade preferences or concessional financing options – some bound to expire upon graduation and others with a transition period.
The country therefore needs a strategic approach to effectively managing the shift and mitigating potential adverse impacts on the economy.
Beyond graduation, UNCTAD remains committed to supporting Sao Tome and Principe’s efforts to diversify exports, enhance productive capacities and improve its business environment.
Concerted efforts from the global community – including development partners and multilateral organizations – are also essential to provide technical assistance, share best practices and shore up resources the country needs to tackle post-graduation challenges.

Tome started as a presentation software company, offering an alternative to PowerPoint and Google Slides. As generative AI emerged, Tome incorporated AI features like automatically generating slideshows, driving strong user growth.
Tome realized that while sales and marketing teams heavily used presentations, they spent even more time researching information for those decks than building them. "As we dug deeper into their needs, we realized they spend more time researching what to include in the presentation rather than making the presentation itself," explained Ves Stoyanov, Head of AI at Tome.
Tome pulls data from a company's sales and marketing stack alongside external sources like financial filings, websites, and news. Claude analyzes this information to generate:
"We need to understand the owners' strategic priorities and initiatives, how our product relates to them, and the usual approaches to potential clients," said Ves. "But you can imagine that this is a process that takes in the order of a few hours if you have to do it manually, in the depth that you would go for your important clients."
When evaluating AI models for their sales use case, Tome found that Claude delivered better results than other alternatives they explored.
By automating the research process, Tome enables sales reps to engage accounts faster. "Time savings is huge," noted Sarin Devraj, Tome executive. Tome expects to improve key sales metrics like emails sent, calls made, and conversion rates.
More importantly, Claude's insights allow reps to reach out with messaging relevant to the account's most pressing priorities. Sarin explained, "At the end of the day, what signals whether a company needs your product is their overall strategic initiatives happening at that business."
Tome sees an opportunity to close the loop between research, strategy, and execution. The company envisions starting with deep research capabilities powered by Claude, and expanding to help sales teams through the entire journey—from identifying opportunities to creating compelling presentations and understanding prospect engagement. "We strongly believe that AI isn't a moment, it's the future," said Ves.

The buzzy startup has been exploring “strategic options” as funding woes have forced it to scale back operations
Genetic medicines startup Tome Biosciences is letting go of much of its staff after hitting setbacks following a buzzy launch last December
In a Massachusetts state regulatory notice
the biotechnology company said 131 employees would lose their jobs by November
The notice follows a report by Stat last week that the company was struggling financially. In an emailed statement to BioPharma Dive Friday
CEO Rahul Kakkar said Tome had scaled back operations and was in “ongoing confidential conversations with multiple parties.”
The layoffs represent essentially all of the company’s staff; Kakkar told Endpoints News in an interview that Tome had about 130 employees
The company did not return BioPharma Dive’s request for comment Monday on the status of the company’s consideration of strategic options
Built around research licensed from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tome debuted publicly in December
the company had raised $213 million from a group of notable investors that included Andreessen Horowitz
Arch Venture Partners and Polaris Partners
Its goal was to advance gene editing technology that, in theory, could bypass challenges common to existing methods. Dubbed “programmable genomic integration,” Tome’s technology was meant to insert genetic material — even large sequences — anywhere in the genome without causing “off-target” damage
The company’s pipeline includes research in phenylketonuria and diseases of the immune system
the company attempted to raise a Series C venture round

Many other startups have encountered similar funding challenges, particularly as initial public offerings have been difficult to pull off for early-stage companies like Tome. That’s forced some private drugmakers to search instead for pharmaceutical companies interested in an acquisition

The head coach of the Spain women’s team says she was unaware a sexual violence protocol existed at the Spanish football federation after Luis Rubiales kissed Jenni Hermoso at the 2023 World Cup final.
who was assistant head coach to Jorge Vilda as Spain won that World Cup 18 months ago
appeared as a witness on Monday at the Audencia Nacional court in Madrid during Rubiales’ continuing trial for alleged sexual assault and coercion
She was called as a witness by the defence
former president of the Spanish football federation (RFEF)
kissed Hermoso as she and her team-mates received their winners’ medals and the trophy on the pitch in Sydney on August 20
He maintains the kiss was consensual.
the former Newcastle United forward and ex-RFEF sporting director Albert Luque and then marketing director Ruben Rivera — coerced Hermoso into publicly supporting Rubiales’ version that the kiss had been consensual
the lawyer representing the Spanish players’ union (AFE)
whether she knew there was a sexual violence protocol in place at the RFEF “to protect women especially”
Tome said: “I’ve never spoken with anyone in the federation about that.”
while holding the second most senior role with the Spain team at a World Cup
Five days after the kiss, on August 25, Rubiales gave his infamous “I will not resign” speech while chairing an extraordinary RFEF assembly.
Tome and 10 other members of the Spain women’s coaching staff published a collective statement condemning the “unacceptable attitudes and actions of the RFEF chief” in which they said they had been “obliged to attend the assembly”
Tome said that statement was to show “we were totally against the events that happened and that we positioned ourselves with the players”
AFE lawyer Lopez highlighted that Tome and the others still did not activate the sexual violence protocol
however. That didn’t happen until August 27
In the most recent version of the protocol published by the RFEF in June 2023
it lists “kissing by force” as one of the “situations
attitudes and behaviours related to sexual violence”
It says the RFEF should designate a “protection delegate” who leads the strategy of protecting sportspeople
An investigation was started by the RFEF’s protection delegate
The RFEF protocol says the investigation would involve speaking with the parties involved
to gather information on the incident.
the protection delegate will put together a report which will be elevated to the RFEF’s advisory committee
who will then raise it with the body’s presidency
So at the time (until his resignation on September 5) that would have been Rubiales himself
The RFEF says a report was produced by the integrity department
which was then submitted to the compliance team
The investigation was paused when criminal proceedings began against Rubiales and the report was shared with the court.
Rubiales was replaced as RFEF president by Pedro Rocha, though the latter subsequently got suspended for two years in July 2024 after Spain’s superior sports court (TAD) deemed the dismissal of former general secretary Andreu Camps in September 2023 was an abuse of his authority
Rubiales had handpicked Rocha as his successor.
and earlier this month he was cleared of misusing public funds following an appeal
Another line in the RFEF sexual violence protocol says it will “seek the protection of the victim and/or the person who asked for help
guaranteeing that reprisals aren’t produced against the persons who presented the request
Throughout this process, including when she testified on day one of the trial, Hermoso has spoken of the isolation she has felt and the lack of protection given to her by the RFEF. On day one, she said nobody from the RFEF came to see her to see how she was: “I felt completely unprotected by the RFEF
“I felt absolutely alone at all times,” she said later
“Whoever could have done a little more and helped me on the spot
did not do so and made me feel totally alone.”
Hermoso has not played for Spain since October
Tome said: “What I said in the investigation phase a year ago
What I said: the reasons for which Jenni didn’t come to the first call-up were sporting
“And protecting her came into that because of the situation we were experiencing
which was an exceptional situation and we were protecting her from the media
everything is an absolutely sporting decision.”
When asked by the AFE lawyer if leaving Hermoso out after the World Cup was a punishment

Gene editing startup Tome Biosciences is letting go of 131 employees
according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act notice filed on Friday in Massachusetts
The layoffs will take place from Nov. 1 through Nov. 14, according to the filing. Tome CEO Rahul Kakkar in a statement to Endpoints News declined to provide more details regarding the reorganization—including whether a small group will stay on to manage the company as it winds down its operations
noting that the layoffs had not been announced during a company meeting early last week
The CEO also refuted reports that the startup had a Nov
Tome is currently in talks with at least three companies interested in its pipeline or platform
The layoffs come after news circulated last week that unfavorable market forces had forced Tome to wind down its operations and look at strategic options for the company
The startup “is operating at a reduced capacity
maintaining core expertise,” a spokesperson told STAT News
which first reported the development last week
“We are in ongoing confidential conversations with multiple parties to explore strategic options,” the spokesperson added
however refusing to detail what changes the start-up is considering and how these might affect its employees and intellectual properties
Tome launched in December 2023 with $213 million in Series A and Series B funding to advance its programmable genomic integration (PGI) platform
which uses proprietary enzymes to insert or write genes without having to introduce double-stranded DNA breaks
Its lead program integrase-PGI incorporates large fragments of DNA
with some even stretching longer than 30kb of genetic code
Kakkar called the PGI platform “revolutionary” with the potential to “reprogram the human genome.” PGI could yield cures for rare monogenic diseases
the market did not share Kakkar’s enthusiasm
A company spokesperson in a statement to STAT News said that “investor sentiment had shifted dramatically across the gene editing space,” leaving Tome with few viable options but to scale back
Tome’s troubles reflect the difficulties that preclinical biotechs face in the current market environment
which heavily prefers clinical-stage companies with well-defined niches and established technologies
President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister of Sao Tome and Principe Patrice Trovoada
who is in China for the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and for an official visit
at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing
The leaders of the two countries announced the elevation of the bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership
Xi Jinping pointed out that in recent years
China's relations with Sao Tome and Principe have maintained a sound momentum of development and the two countries have achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation in various fields
Facts have proved that Sao Tome and Principe's return to the China-Africa family of friendly cooperation fully conforms to the common interests of the two peoples
support Sao Tome and Principe's efforts to advance national construction and economic development
and stands ready to work with Sao Tome and Principe to actively implement the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit and promote the strategic partnership between the two countries to better benefit the people
Xi Jinping stressed that the two sides should keep to the general direction of friendship
strengthen the sharing of experience in state governance
consolidate and enhance strategic mutual trust
and firmly support each other on issues related to each other's core interests and major concerns
He called on the two sides to explore cooperation in areas such as tourism
so that Sao Tome and Principe can benefit more from the outcomes of the summit
China is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with Sao Tome and Principe on international and regional issues to safeguard the common interests of the two countries and other developing countries
Patrice Trovoada said that every time he visits China
He thanked China for providing invaluable assistance to Sao Tome and Principe's economic development
saying that the new measures announced by President Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony of the FOCAC Summit in the morning will significantly boost the development of Sao Tome and Principe and Africa
Sao Tome and Principe highly appreciates President Xi Jinping for putting forward the building of a community with a shared future for mankind and other important visions and initiatives
Sao Tome and Principe firmly abides by the one-China principle and hopes to further consolidate political mutual trust between the two countries and enhance the partnership
so as to provide a strong guarantee for Sao Tome and Principe's long-term economic development
The two sides issued the Joint Statement between the People's Republic of China and the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe on Establishing a Strategic Partnership

which launched with a mission to revolutionize genomic medicines
has pared down operations and is exploring its “strategic options” due to a shift in “investor sentiment” in the gene editing space
Alexandria Venture Investments and Longwood Fund
The Massachusetts-based startup emerged from stealth to advance its programmable genomic integration (PGI)
which CEO Rahul Kakkar at the time called “revolutionary” for its ability to “reprogram the human genome with an elegance and efficiency previously unimaginable.” The approach could yield “potentially curative treatments with a single drug per disease” for rare monogenic conditions
Tome’s vision is not holding up to market realities
A company spokesperson in a statement to STAT said that “investor sentiment has shifted dramatically across the gene editing space
and we are in ongoing confidential conversations with multiple parties to explore strategic options,” the spokesperson said
The company has yet to confirm what strategic changes it is considering
how many employees will be affected and the potential impacts on its pipeline and platform
a person familiar with the matter told STAT that the startup is heading towards its closure and needs to find a buyer by Nov
Both sources spoke to STAT on condition of anonymity
Tome’s PGI platform achieves the site-specificity of the Nobel Prize-winning CRISPR/Cas9 system
using enzymes that are capable of inserting or writing entire genes without needing to introduce double-stranded breaks into the target DNA
Tome’s most advanced program was integrase-mediated PGI (i-PGI)
The biotech at the time likened the technology
“capable of pasting test anywhere in a document.” I-PGI has achieved insertions of large fragments of DNA—with some exceeding 30kb of genetic code—with high site-specificity
In May 2024, Tome presented data from its CD19/BCMA program using the I-PGI platform
showing that it could efficiently integrate 12,000 base pairs into induced pluripotent stem cells
I-PGI also led to functional expression of genes that could boost the efficacy of an autoimmune cell therapy
In January 2024, Tome paid $65 million upfront to acquire Replace Therapeutics
combining it with the CRISPR/Cas9 system to precisely alter short DNA sequences
The transaction has a total value of around $185 million in stock and cash
A breakdown on how to use the new Tome of Want in Destiny 2 Episode Heresy and how to find Essence of Desire to use for it
brings with it tons of new ways to get loot and rank up throughout the next several weeks' worth of activities
but looking at the two vendors can be a little complicated
Here's how to get rewards from both the Shaping Slab and the Tome of Want in Destiny 2 Episode Heresy
as well as how to obtain and use a new material
The Path of Resolve Shaping Slab is found in the HELM inside of Eris Morn's apartment in the back corner
This stone monolithic structure is basically the season's vendor for Heresy
and increasing reputation with this vendor is all done here
The key new features of this vendor are Runic Enhancement and the Mysterium. Runic Enhancement is basically a reward path that is unlocked using Sigil Shards earned from Nether activities that give players additional benefits while inside Heresy activities, including Nether runs
These buffs and changes to gameplay include additional healing options
increasing Sigil Shard drops from any sources
The Enhancement Level of the Shaping Slab determines the maximum power of runes that can be slotted into the enhancements and is increased for every two reputation ranks earned
So the more levels players have at the Shaping Slab
the more Runic Enhancements they can slot in
Runic Enhancements can also be changed during a Nether run at any time
Find a green glowing skull icon and interact with it to slot in different Runic Enhancements
The Mysterium allows players to permanently enhance their abilities while aboard the Dreadnaught and in the Nether
These are permanent upgrades to Boons collected while on Nether runs
Collect each type of Boon numerous times and then there will be an option to unlock the Mysterium upgrade
The Tome of Want is obtained after completing an opening questline for Episode Heresy and visiting Eris Morn's apartment for the first time
Upon hearing some dialogue from Sloane and Eris Morn
interact with the Path of Resolve Shaping Slab
where the second unlock is the Tome of Want
Raise your reputation with the Shaping Slab to level 2 and then purchase the Tome of Want from the Shaping Slab itself
These upgrades directly affect players in the Nether with various effects permanently applied during a Nether run
Each Engraving is unlocked as the Tome itself is used over time and experience is gained through completing Rituals
choose a section on the row labeled Ritual Rites and then pick a Scripture to place into the first slot
The Scripture will then curate the next run of the Nether
dropping whatever is dictated by the Scripture chosen for the slot
In the second slot is where a specialized Scripture for much more specific rewards can go ,like a specific weapon or the Amorphus Scripture of Ultimate Power
This exotic Scripture can be slotted in for a chance at any of the following:
The third slot of the Tome of Want is where players can spend two Essence of Desire
obtained by turning in stacks of 10 Metastasized Essentia from completed Nether runs to the Taken altar in Eris' apartment
to obtain at three seasonal rewards at the end of a Nether activity
This initiates the Ritual and will trigger loot drops at the end of the next Nether run

just nine months after launching with $213 million in funding
according to several sources with direct knowledge of the matter
One person with knowledge of the situation told STAT that Tome is winding down operations altogether and seeking a buyer by Nov
