We now know the name of one of the new restaurants coming to Wheelhouse (the building formerly known as Traffic Zone) near 3rd and Washington Tono Pizzeria + Cheesesteaks a rapidly-expanding Twin Cities-based group of fast-casual restaurants will move into the space formerly occupied by Jeromeo sometime this summer Tono’s menu offers more than a dozen options for pizza (all 12″) and more than eight styles of cheesesteak sandwiches “We went with who we thought would be good fits for the neighborhood,” said Wheelhouse owner Patrick Crowe “bringing in some more food options that are easier to get for lunch where you can go in and grab or maybe sit down but not feel like you have to reserve a table or do a big event where you just kind of grab lunch and go.” One of the co-founders of Tono, Antonio Gambino, is from a family that will be familiar to people who have lived or worked amid the downtown skyway system. His Sicilian father founded Andrea Pizza home of the “biggest slice in town.” Antonio’s mother was from Philadelphia hence the interest in both pizza and cheesesteaks Tono’s other co-founder is Gambino’s friend The North Loop location will be the company’s 11th since 2019 In November, Crowe bought the historic building at 250 Third Avenue North (built in 1886) and is planning a large-scale renovation. The company is working on signing a second restaurant tenant for the space formerly occupied by Bev’s Wine Bar. Volume 4 - 2024 | https://doi.org/10.3389/fopht.2024.1441343 This article is part of the Research TopicThe diagnoses of glaucoma in the era of artificial intelligenceView all 6 articles Purpose: To evaluate the accuracy of the new Tono-Vera rebound tonometer (Reichert Inc NY) compared to Goldmann Applanation Tonometry cross-sectional study was designed in accordance with ANSI Z80.10-2014 and ISO 8612-2009 guidelines for tonometer comparison Intraocular Pressure (IOP) was measured by Goldmann Applanation and Tono-Vera on 160 eyes of 160 subjects Corneal Astigmatism and Central Corneal Thickness were also measured A single investigator (CN) conducted all measurements The average of two measurements from each tonometer was used in the analysis and simple linear regression were used to evaluate agreement between the tonometers Results: Average IOP values from Goldmann Applanation and Tono-Vera were not significantly different (19.17 and 19.03 respectively The total least squares regression analysis indicated strong agreement between the two tonometers (slope +0.97 There were 2 IOP measurement pairs that exceeded the ± 5 mmHg limits of agreement required in ANSI Z80.10-2014 and ISO 8612-2009 which is within the range of acceptability specified in the standards Conclusion: We evaluated IOP measurements by Tono-Vera Rebound Tonometer vs Goldmann Applanation Tonometry for eyes with a wide range of IOP values and found no statistically significant differences in the results Tono-Vera meets the requirements of ANSI Z80.10-2014 and ISO 8612-2009 demonstrating accuracy comparable to Goldmann tonometry similarly to existing rebound tonometer technology on the market plastic contact tip (Ocu-Dot Tonometer Probe The probe is propelled forward by a solenoid-induced magnetic field The motion of the probe generates a voltage in the solenoid which is recorded throughout the measurement process IOP is derived from analyzing the velocity profile of the probe during the measurement its forward motion is stopped and ultimately reversed The deceleration of the probe as it contacts the cornea and comes to a rest An internal calibration converts the voltage into an IOP value (displayed in mmHg on the instrument screen) In order to reduce operator bias and the resultant measurement variability it causes 3-dimensional positioning system referred to as “ActiView” This system uses on-screen cues to guide the operator to the optimal position over the corneal apex at the correct distance Once the alignment criteria are met the instrument measures automatically In “3+” measurement mode a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 successive measurements (based on the repeatability of the obtained values) are used to calculate the final IOP result 6 successive measurements are always made to calculate the final IOP result 6-Measurement mode was used on all subjects for this study This study was commissioned in preparation for an FDA 510k application for the Tono-Vera Tonometer and was prospectively registered with clinicaltrials.gov (NCT05345262) Approval for this study was obtained from Sterling Institutional Review Board and evaluated according to the study protocol Subjects were recruited from the study-site clinical population or referred to the Principle Investigator (PI) for the study by other local clinicians Subjects meeting the inclusion criteria who provided written informed consent participated in the study Measurements were conducted between April 2022 and September 2022 A single investigator (CN) conducted all of the Goldmann and Tono-Vera IOP measurements The study followed FDA Regulations relating to good clinical practice and clinical trials and protection of human volunteers (45 CFR Part 46 the ethical principles contained within the Declaration of Helsinki and ISO 14155:2020 (Clinical investigation of medical devices for human subjects -Good clinical practice) The study was conducted to be in accordance with FDA Guidance for Tonometers (March 27 ANSI Z80.10-2014 (American National Standard for Ophthalmics –Tonometers) and ISO 8612-2009 (International Organization for Standardization Ophthalmic instruments — Tonometers) ANSI Z80.10-2014 & ISO 8612-2009 requirements for paired testing of reference to test Tonometers Participant inclusion criteria required that subjects must be between the ages of 18 and 90 years old must able and willing to provide signed informed consent and must be able to follow study instructions Exclusion Criteria specified by the ANSI Z80 standard were: Subjects with only one functional eye subjects with one eye having poor or eccentric fixation subjects with central corneal thickness greater than 600 µm or less than 500 µm subjects with corneal scarring or who have had corneal surgery (including laser refractive surgery) subjects with concomitant ocular diseases (including: microphthalmos any other corneal or conjunctival pathology or infection likely to confound the ability to obtain accurate IOP measurements) subjects with known allergy to proparacaine or fluorescein were excluded or presence of ocular hypertension were not exclusion criteria Trial participants were recruited from the study site (a private practice in Buffalo Subjects were also able to be referred from other practices The Principal Investigator (PI) or a designee identified potential subjects for the study from patient records and daily patient clinic visits Subjects determined to be potentially eligible and who expressed interest in participating were consented and enrolled in the study The protocol required that only one eye per patient be used in the analysis All subject measurements were made during a single visit to the study site The following procedures were performed in the order listed: Corneal Curvature by Auto-Refractor/Keratometer (Opto-Chek Auto Refractor Keratometer Buffalo NY) (to determine amount of corneal astigmatism) Slit lamp biomicroscopy (to ensure no exclusion criteria were present) Defines which IOP category the eye belongs to) Central Corneal Thickness by ultrasound pachymetry (iPac Pachymeter NY) (to ensure selected subjects were between 500-600 microns per the requirements of ANSI Z80.10 and ISO 8621) Switzerland) was used for the study and underwent calibration verification before the study and weekly during the study In order to ensure the widest possible range of IOP values the eye to be included in the study was selected based on the following criteria: If only one eye qualifies as a high astigmatic (>3 Diopters of corneal astigmatism) If the GAT pressures are unequal and ≥23 mmHg in the two eyes If the GAT pressures are unequal and between >16 and <23 mmHg in the two eyes If the GAT pressures are unequal and ≤16 mmHg in the two eyes If the GAT pressures are in different IOP subranges in the two eyes select the eye with the pressure in the subrange with fewer enrolled eyes If the pressures in the two eyes are identical randomly select an eye based on a coin toss or other valid binary randomization method The Tono-Vera (Test tonometer) was used in Automatic 6-measurement mode the on-screen alignment system of the tonometer guides the user to the optimal XYZ position over the apex of the cornea and automatically measures six times in rapid succession once the alignment criteria are met Measurements were made on the selected eye no more than 3 minutes after the GAT measurement was completed Two Tono-Vera measurements were obtained and averaged for the Tono-Vera IOP value Pachymetry was measured last by iPac ultrasound pachymeter (Reichert Subjects with CCT under 500 or over 600 microns were excluded Data was analyzed per ANSI Z80.10-2014 section B9.3 a) A scatter plot of the test tonometer measurements (x-axis) versus the reference tonometer measurements (y-axis scaled identically to x-axis) with the total least squares fitting line (orthogonal) and the y=x diagonal line drawn on the plot b) Results of the total least squares regression analysis of the data estimated slope and intercept (offset of the regression) the number of pairs in each IOP range and the number and percentage of pairs in each range that exceed the limit c) A method of differences plot (Bland-Altman) showing the paired differences versus the mean of the measured values of the pair for each of the IOP ranges given in Table 1 with lines drawn on the plot indicating 5 mmHg greater than and 5 mmHg less than the zero difference axis a simple linear regression was used to calculate the correlation between GAT and Tono-Vera (r2) a paired t-test was used to compare Tono-Vera and GAT A two-sample t-test was used to compare the differences between the Tono-Vera and GAT devices for eyes with low and high corneal astigmatism Results of Tono-Vera and GAT matched measurement pairs by IOP category and y-intercept of +0.33 and a standard deviation of 2.11) Total Least Squares Regression of Tono-Vera vs GAT for all 160 eyes Total Least Squares Regression of Tono-Vera vs GAT for 137 low corneal astigmatism eyes Total Least Squares Regression of Tono-Vera vs GAT for high corneal astigmatism eyes Bland-Altman Comparison of Tono-Vera to GAT for all 160 eyes Bland-Altman Comparison of Tono-Vera to GAT for 137 low corneal astigmatism eyes Bland-Altman Comparison of Tono-Vera to GAT for high corneal astigmatism eyes Despite substantial efforts to recruit 10 patients with >23 IOP and >3D astigmatism eyes, only two such subjects were identified. Subjects who meet these criteria, and who do not meet any of the exclusion criteria, are extremely rare (23, 24) our analysis has shown that there is no difference in either tonometer’s performance between the low and high astigmatism eyes in this study The agreement between GAT and Tono-Vera in eyes with >3D astigmatism compared to eyes with <3D astigmatism was not statistically different when comparing the means of the measurement pair differences between Tono-Vera and GAT (p=0.335) using a 2-sample t-test we are confident that the results obtained from the available data are sufficient to demonstrate good agreement between GAT and Tono-Vera in eyes with greater than 3D astigmatism GAT vs CCT and Tono-Vera vs CCT are plotted together in Figure 7 Neither Tono-Vera nor GAT were strongly correlated with CCT in this data set (r2 = 0.028 and 0.022 respectively) as would be expected due to the limited range of corneal thickness values required by the ANSI Z80.10 and ISO 8612 standards Scatter Plot of GAT & Tono-Vera vs CCT for all 160 eyes Goldmann Tonometry has been in use for over 6 decades and is found in most eye care practices globally most practices employ multiple tonometry modalities for a wide variety of valid reasons GAT requires a skilled operator and instillation of topical anesthetic drops GAT takes more time to execute than other tonometry methods and can be difficult to perform on a significant portion of patients This fact is of increasing relevance in the modern era due to the growing utilization of nurse and technician staff to perform various tests Staff turnover in the current environment is high making frequent training of new personnel an ongoing challenge IOP values taken by staff must be reliable as it may not be possible for the physician to verify (double-check) the accuracy of recorded measurements in many modern practices This makes it especially concerning that clinically relevant errors in measurements made by GAT due to operator skill are possible there are many countries where only ophthalmologists are permitted to use GAT and so it becomes essential to have reliable alternatives that can be used by staff (with little skill and no interpretation required) and trusted by doctors In our data set 32% of Tono-Vera Measurements were within 1 mmHg of GAT the Tono-Vera automated alignment and measurement technology played a role in its agreement with GAT measurements The PI found Tono-Vera easy and fast to use and would be comfortable delegating IOP measurements with this device to staff Patient acceptance of the Tono-Vera measurement was high with most patients stating that they preferred the Tono-Vera over GAT when questioned The handheld nature of the Tono-Vera device is permits measurements to be made with patients sitting upright which may reduce transient IOP elevations related to patient posture when in position for GAT measurement The Tono-Vera measurement probes are single-use eliminating the need for disinfection procedures Patents also expressed appreciation of the single-use probes which may have been top-of-mind considering this trial was conducted during the COVID-19 Pandemic We evaluated the agreement of Tono-Vera and Goldmann Applanation Tonometry in eyes with a less than 2-standard deviation range of corneal thickness values This was necessary in order to comply with the ANSI Z80.10-2014 standard but does not cover the expected range of corneal thickness values in a typical clinical population and eyes with ocular pathology (other than Glaucoma) were not evaluated in our study this was necessary to comply with the requirements of ANSI Z80.10-2014 but is not reflective of all eyes in a normal clinical population Further studies on Tono-Vera vs GAT in normal eyes that have a wider range of corneal thickness values and in eyes with various pathologies or prior surgeries are necessary We did not directly assess intra or inter operator repeatability of Tono-Vera in our study in this study of IOP measurements in a population of patients with a wide range of intraocular pressures Tono-Vera showed excellent agreement with Goldmann Applanation Tonometry and demonstrated compliance with the requirements of ANSI Z80.10-2014 and ISO 8612-2009 These findings indicate that Tono-Vera can be used to obtain objective and reliable IOP measurements in clinical practice The raw data supporting the conclusions of this article will be made available by the authors The studies involving humans were approved by Sterling Institutional Review Board The studies The building design includes a “food manufacturing plant, a store, a café, and an experience space,” according to the architects’ website a glass curtain wall adorned with cedar drum pillars stretching up to seven metres in length allows natural light to flood the space softly curved structure created using advanced hand-chiselling techniques designed to meet Japan’s primary energy consumption standards harmonises beautifully with the surrounding mountains Every intricate detail in the design of Oyaki Farm tells a tale of craftsmanship and tradition Cedar columns and purlins rest upon sturdy cypress beams forming a roof punctuated with a 3m overhang of the eaves This design not only showcases the timeless elegance of Japanese fan rafters a technique passed down through generations but also serves as a testament to the ingenuity of the human spirit alongside the high side windows that invite natural ventilation and even the gentle cascade of rainwater from the roof they play an integral role in reducing the building’s CO2 emissions The word “Oyaki” encapsulates the project’s deep respect for Japanese heritage Oyaki finds its roots in the Shinshu region of Japan The name serves a dual purpose – as a fitting moniker for a café and a respectful nod to tradition It aspires to be a testament to the harmonious connection between human innovation and the earth itself by using locally sourced timber and surplus soil from construction sites using these materials constitutes the structure’s harmony with nature – over the next thousands of years the structure will “return to the earth” due to the natural circular main hall is surrounded by a colonnade of timber columns and enclosed by a wood frame and glass curtain wall The wood used is almost 100% solid cedar and cypress from Neba-mura “Architecture is a physical entity but ultimately it’s something that works on the human spirit,” said Tono Mirai “I believe in three ecologies that all play large roles in the longevity of architecture – spirit The project site was once a “pit dwelling” settlement in the Yayoi period roughly 2,000 years ago Excavating the site revealed many red artifacts the memories of which are reflected in the building’s 5.2m-high entrance hall and the foundation that rises along a natural slope Mirai said that these elements connect the site’s former settlement with its future the second aspect involves utilising indigenous timber local craftsmen and traditional carpentry methods rooted in age-old knowledge to preserve both materials and skills while fostering community interconnectedness one issue in modern Japanese wooden architecture lies in the abandonment of traditional carpentry methods in favour of hardware and pre-cutting machinery neglecting the invaluable knowledge passed down through generations joinery and finishing without reliance on hardware is at risk of fading away without proper training and preservation this project seeks to bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and contemporary design reimagining the essence of Japanese architecture for the modern era the gracefully curved roof and gently sloping terrain create a seamless integration with the natural surroundings of the site is illuminated by a skylight that symbolically bridges the gap between heaven and earth connects the building to the conifer forest preserving the region’s original landscape eco-friendly features such as modern water purification technology well water usage and heat recycling from the factory for café heating and cooling showcase a commitment to sustainability With ample natural light from high windows and energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the building harmoniously blends with the mountainous backdrop The arc-shaped design of the north entrance ensures a welcoming and unobtrusive passageway for visitors Mirai said that the most challenging aspect of this project was creating the different shapes and dimensions for the columns and connecting beams Each rises at a different angle and is shaped differently than the last Vectorworks was used to create the detailed fabrication drawings needed for this project These drawings were then given to contractors “For a designer like me who thinks of architecture not in terms of systems and numbers, but in terms of images and sketches, then draws them and finally translates them into numbers, using Vectorworks to create organic architecture is a very enjoyable process,” Mirai said “All the designers [at Tono Mirai Architects] are very happy to work with Vectorworks. Vectorworks is also very good at producing beautiful drawings with a high level of graphic expressiveness.” and website in this browser for the next time I comment Δdocument.getElementById( "ak_js_1" ).setAttribute( "value" Building & Construction Today website is the place to come for compelling and informative features news and products for a diverse audience serving a wide construction sector By 2024-10-01T07:00:00+01:00 Guillem Export and Frutas Tono, two family-run companies from Valencia which agreed to merge in July 2023 have unveiled their new combined corporate identity the companies said the merger would bring the two entities plus Tono subsidiaries Romu and Mugui under a single “We are excited to announce that Guillem Export and Frutas Tono are unifying their corporate identity under a new name “This change represents an important step in our path to consolidation as one of the leading groups in the marketing of fresh fruit internationally.” Deterra’s inaugural CEO has been named as Víctor Asensio who was previously business unit director for fresh food at Aldi España The merged company said it will source a large range of products – including citrus and persimmons – from various different origins and operate in 31 different countries It is expected to have a combined turnover of over €200m based on more than 190,000 tonnes of fruit sold Chivas de Guadalajara officially announced that goalkeeper Jose Antonio Rodriguez was making a move back to La Perla Tapatia The Mexican goalkeeper had been on loan to Club Tijuana from Chivas in this Apertura 2017 and served as the backup to Gibran Lajud but was solid throughout the Copa MX competition “Toño” featured in five total games in this Apertura 2017 edition of the Copa MX including the round of 16 match against Monarcas Morelia The Guadalajara native was the villain and the hero in this game as he made a brutal error that allowed Morelia to tie the game at two goals each but “Toño” came out as the hero as he stopped two penalties and the Xolos took a 4-2 win in the shootout That was easily the most memorable moment for Jose Antonio Rodriguez in his very short stint with the Tijuana Xolos The Mexican keeper was actually an above average keeper in the few games he did play and at one point fans were calling for him to start over Gibran Lajud The 25-year-old clearly deserves a chance to be a consistent starter for a Liga MX team and he may receive that opportunity with his hometown team Chivas had a really solid goalkeeper in Rodolfo Cota Pachuca was asking an astronomical amount of money for the Mexican international and it is very likely that he will stay in Pachuca ¡ChivaHermanos, @TonoRodriguez1 está de regreso con el Rebaño! ??? pic.twitter.com/UIHnjeVPAI — CHIVAS (@Chivas) December 6, 2017 Many Xolos’ fans will not remember Rodriguez because he was mostly on the bench but this could have been a nice stepping stone in Tijuana for the young keeper to finally get a consistent starting role Now the question for the Xolos is if a younger keeper will be given the opportunity to be Gibran Lajud’s backup or if the new manager will bring in another keeper to sit on the bench and possibly feature in the Copa MX did most of the series previews and recaps in the Padres’ 2016 season for EVT Now I focus more on the local soccer scene Copa América and European clubs like Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund A new PV trailer has been unveiled for the upcoming Tono to Inu TV anime series which also revealed its main production staff and premiere dates for four different versions of the show The four versions of the anime will feature different voice actors for the Tono character, as previously announced last month The weekly broadcast schedule of each version is as follows:  Tono to Inu ~Potepote!~ Tomokazu Sugita ver Tono to Inu ~Kunkun!~ Shunsuke Takeuchi ver the anime’s main theme song is “Little Lovers” by nine-piece boy group SUPER★DRAGON Dragon Goes House-Hunting) is directing the anime with Shun Miyazaki as music composer and Noriyoshi Konuma (The Dangers in My Heart) as sound director OLM and Live2D Creative Studio are handling the animation production for the series Rie Nishida’s historical comedy manga was first launched as a short series on Flex Comix’s Comic Polaris manga website on March 18 Three tankobon volumes have been released as of February 2024 Tono to Inu follows a former warrior of the Sengoku period named Tono who has fallen on hard times since his glory days he comes across a stray dog and adopts him as part of his life Source: Tono to Inu Official Anime Twitter  Want more of our weekly chart updates and news content? Official Anime Twitter  Never in my life have I felt more pressure than the first time I ordered a cheesesteak in Philadelphia Do I order it “whiz wit” or “wit whiz?” I don’t want to make Philly hate me “It’s like a religion,” Antonio “Tono” Gambino says grew up in his family’s pizzerias (his mom is the Andrea of Andrea Pizza in Minneapolis) and combined his passions at Tono Pizzeria and Cheesesteaks There are certain foods that bring out phony regional expertise in people: the person who rails against Twin Cities bagels because she spent a night in New York City or the lobster roll expert who once had them at a work conference in Maine Cheesesteak brings out that outrage as well “Every neighborhood has their own idea,” Tono’s best friend and business partner Shaz Khan says Tono tries to make this less stressful for Minnesotans You can order  the South Philly with grilled onions I really loved the Speziato with thinly sliced prosciutto strips and a spicy These sandwiches are overflowing with chopped steak on an absolutely perfect hoagie bun “The most important thing is the roll,” Tono says They import them from the bakery that supplies most of the good spots in Philly and that bread does a lot of work supporting all of that chopped steak It compresses when you bite but doesn’t get soggy with the juices from the steak and melted cheese and Tono’s cheesesteak may have the perfect ratio between bread and filling As for that steak: It’s prime inside round—fatty enough to be juicy and reasonably priced so they can charge $13 a sandwich The family history in pizza shines through A beautiful brick oven is the visual highlight of both the original Maplewood location and the new spot in the old St The lower temperature (around 600-625°F) and slightly longer cooking time create a crust that’s crispy on the bottom but still has a chew to it It’s not New York pizza—more like a Sicilian-style crust The toppings are terrific: Try the Spicy Tono pepperoni with a homemade hot honey and red chili oil My family and I loved the garlic-topped white sauce Napoleono with arugula and tomato There’s a level of obsession here you’d expect from someone who spent a lifetime chasing the pizzas and cheesesteaks of his childhood These guys’ ambitions are as large as their personalities: two Tono locations open Go “whiz wit” or “Prov witout”—just go to Tono’s Tono The neck was straight, so the luthiers at Retrofret in Brooklyn fixed the problem by adding a shim under the saddle they also discovered that the screws put in to secure the bridge to the soundboard for gluing had not been taken out and were poking through on the inside of the guitar—unfortunate considering how appealing the guitar otherwise is The neck has a modern C profile with a satin finish which creates the perfect grip and smoothness—zero stickiness or resistance sliding up and down It also makes it easier to wrap your thumb around to grab the low E for certain grips which would match Washburn’s goal of maintaining the clear highs commonly associated with larger body sizes Checking around different spots on the fretboard I found that the body was most sympathetically resonant at the first three frets but especially in the middle—around the fifth fret for the top three strings and at the 12th fret for the top three strings The body sings several seconds longer on the top strings in any given spot than the bottom strings since I care more about getting the highs to ring out and I feel as though the lows come into the game naturally with a more powerful advantage It actually suited my playing style so well that I was inspired to write a song on it which you can hear a portion of at the start of the video But that difference is noticeable where I’m complementing the high riffs with a lower voice and the lower voice is slightly more subdued I found Washburn’s Bella Tono Elegante S24S to be a more-than-satisfactory instrument for its price showing that it’s not always how much money you put down that gives you the best product The guitar especially suits fingerpicking in the higher registers but balances out against heavier strumming the compact body shape and modern C-shaped neck make it comfortable to hold and play and the abalone and gold appointments meet the elegance of the guitar’s name BODY: Washburn Studio shape; solid spruce top; select pau ferro back and sides; quartersawn scalloped bracing; ebony bridge; ebony binding; bone saddle; abalone purfling and rosette with padauk highlight; gloss finish NECK: 20-fret mahogany with modern C shape; ebony fretboard with abalone bird and mountain inlays; 25.5″ scale length; satin finish; diecast gold tuners; bone nut OTHER: D’Addario EJ16 strings (.012–.053) Kate KoenigKate Koenig is a singer-songwriter, music teacher, and music journalist based in Brooklyn, New York. I can confidently say I have sold more Washburn guitars than any other brand over my 20 years in musical instrument retail Why is that And the same can be said for the Bella Tono Series which has something to offer to most acoustic guitarists they’re all sporting a look that strays away form the traditional Dreadnaught and introduces combinations of tone woods that are fit for the size The two standout models are the Allure and the Elegante which feature high gloss solid spruce tops and a combination of tone woods to enhance not only the sound Acacia or Pau Ferro back and sides and Ebony fretboards are all selected for tone and visual appeal Both these models feature abalone inlays around the body sound hole and within the fretboard for that extra fine touch that draws your eye even before you’ve heard them The Allure features Washburn’s Comfort Armrest where the upper edge of the body is angled with a maple inlay to reduce pressure from that sharp edge on your inner right arm This is a design we first saw in some of the very top end models from Washburn about ten years back and one that was very well received by anyone who got the instrument in their hands and Washburn have made that especially so with their larger bodied acoustic instruments for even greater ease in reaching the higher frets and this becomes a joy to play These are two guitars that offer both a beautiful rich tone the Bella Tono Vite S9V model is the one that really caught my attention The spruce top is finished in a gloss Charcoal Burst colour with a white edge to the wooden binding that makes the body shape appear just a little smaller than it is at first glance A figured Walnut back and sides always gets my attention If you don’t like the look of walnut on the curves of an acoustic guitar you really need to get your priorities in order the dark tone that walnut offers lifts the overall sound of this instrument making it come off like a larger bodies guitar That’s down to the Washburn Studio body with that soft cutaway like the one we saw in the Allure model You get the comfort of playing a smaller bodied guitar but the woods have been matched to give the tone of a larger instrument it doesn’t have a booming quality to the sound but rather projects it’s acoustic resonance with a little extra punch While we’re talking about the woods used in Bella Tono Vite S9V it is hard to go past the Ebony fretboard with a wooden vine leaf inlay running from the 2nd to the 20th frets Two separate timbers have been used to achieve the look of the vine itself and the leaves for a really classy result There’s no need for abalone on this instrument it defines flamboyance and subtlety all at the same time and leaves the walnut to really step things up For those of you looking to perform or record with this guitar you’ll find and under-bridge pickup combined with the Barcus Berry preamp system Mid and High frequencies with the addition of a Presence control for really getting in the front of the mix as has come to be expected with instruments like this these days there are no excuses for playing out of tune In all the four guitars of the Bella Tono series represent great value and cover a wide range of options you’re never going to get the most out of an instrument It would be amiss of me to say that these guitars tick all the boxes What they do offer is an enjoyable playing experience with a look that makes you want to pick them up the best thing you can do is to get down to your local guitar shop and try one out for yourself you can decide which Bella Tono guitar is your favourite I’m leaning towards the Vite S9V for the spare space in my guitar rack For more information, head to Washburn. For local enquiries, visit Musical Merchandisers. As seen in Guitar Girl Magazine Issue 15 – Spring 2021 – Electrified BAND-MAID is a band that cranks out hard rock sounds while we are adorned in cute maid outfits. My name is Kanami Tono and I often feel that it is his playing that supports me emotionally My songwriting has been influenced by countless artists I use a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier with a 4X24 Rectifier Standard cabinet When we were searching for a new BAND-MAID sound its three channels make it very versatile–I can use them in many ways Two of my many effectors are my Free The Tone ARC-3 Controller and the FT-2Y Digital Delay The controller has no lag time when switching The delay is also very convenient for me since it allows for so many settings to dial in the sounds that I want I also find that FTT products are very reliable I also use a DigiTech Polyphonic Drop Tune Pedal I use it to drop down a semitone; while in the studio it is handy when recording tracks in lower octaves Guitar Girl Magazine - Get the latest music industry news interviews of some of the best female guitarists around and tips and advice on navigating your way to becoming a guitar guru For social networking safety tips for parents and youth please visit the Federal Trade Commission Consumer Information website at https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/features/feature-0002-parents Learn how to describe the purpose of the image (opens in a new tab) Leave empty if the image is purely decorative
